I wonder how steves hearing gets intense esp how he drives his harley. From what i can recall when helping dad in parking the bike (It almost resembles steves in winter soildier a dyna model) just the click warning . Dam. THE engine Roars loudly :0 sorry just recalled these things . Also its only comftable for the driver on the seats...if one is the unfortunate passenger....sitting on thats uncomfy fr awhile

God, I'm just picturing Steve getting used to his new body and the new way his ears work, everything dialed to eleven, every little noise around him amplified. And he still doesn't quite know how to handle that, but he knows his skin is always itchy because of it.

Cue him riding his motorcycle for the first time during the war, right into some firefight, the engine roaring around him and amplifying the sound of distant gunfire. It's hell, but he powers through the pain, like he always does. Resigns himself to the way his brain is screaming at him for refuge.

Bucky notices the pinched expression on his face. The way his jaw is clenched and the brief moment Steve gives into the urge to reach up and cover his ears, just for a second. Long enough to find momentary refuge. No one else sees, or if they do, they don't pay it mind. Not the way Bucky knows to. Not the way Bucky has always been in tune with Steve-- reading his pain before Steve has even processed it's there.

Later when they're back in the tent, Steve hasn't spoken for hours. And when he had, he'd been short. Irritable.

"Will you just come here?" Bucky asks from his cot, watching Steve stare at his sketchbook page. "Your brooding is making my head hurt."

"I'm not brooding," Steve mumbles, but relents, standing and crossing to Bucky's cot. Hovering, like he still doesn't know what to do with the space he takes up.

"I'm not brooding," Bucky mocks, making his voice whiny.

Steve huffs, rolling his eyes, but lets Bucky tug him down, all but melting onto his cot. Into his space. Reaching up, Bucky presses his hands on either side of Steve's head, over his ears. Steve looks at him, eyes tight right before he seems to give in and his whole body sags.

"Thanks," he mumbles, hands pressing over Bucky's. His skin still feels the same, soft and sure. Artist's hands. It's nice to know some things haven't changed.

"You don't gotta tough it out all the time, kid," Bucky says.

Steve gives him a look. "You know I do."

Bucky thins his lips, but doesn't try to argue. It's a moot point. Steve is stubborn as a mule when it comes to survival.

"Fine, but at least let me carry some of it when I can?" He pulls Steve in, presses their foreheads together.

Steve closes his eyes, and for a moment, Bucky thinks he's going to argue that, too. But then his fingers flex over Bucky's, feeling him. Feeling the tangibility of his promise.

"Okay," he whispers. "Okay."

In Spanish there's this commercial about hair shampoo from the brand pantene and the slogan "pelo pantene" (hair pantene) means something like "good hair thanks to pantene". It evolved into a meme of just saying pelo pantene in every situation where someone has good hair even if the product used is not pantene (free advertising lol). Your Jon always makes me say "pelo pantene".

first of all, thank you so much for the kind words!!! this fandom is chock full of intelligent, insightful, and observant people; it's incredibly easy to stoke the imposter syndrome when writing your own meta or analysis, especially when you anticipate it might be quite controversial. everyone sees things differently, and everyone sees things differently over time, but to have a view that might just be a bit of an outlier is doubly scary. but to know that - if even only a handful of people - resonate with my ramblings truly is what makes me keep doing it. so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!✨

im certainly not the only one who feels like this about the Feral Domestic and the kiss in general. now i will admit that in this scene, i do have some aziraphale prejudice, and i can come across as quite biased towards his view of what happened. i think it might be because in the same situation, i think id do the same thing, or view it the same as i perceive aziraphale to do. but over time, my empathy towards crowley has definitely increased, certainly more than my first reaction suggested at the time i posted it; i get his perspective, his terror and fear and vehemence towards aziraphale's offer, and in his shoes id also refuse to join aziraphale.

i think what truly made me recoil tho, as i said in the post and you said in your ask, is the kiss itself. i get why he did it, i get why he was desperate and overwhelmed, but all i can see in response to that is aziraphale's reaction. whilst i see the purely emotional side of crowley kissing him - and god do i sympathise - logically it didn't prove much. aziraphale knows crowley wants to be with him, and crowley knows the vice versa (they literally said as much! that's probably one of the only points in this dialogue that they actually communicate!). the issue on both sides is the caveats - aziraphale doesn't want to run, crowley doesn't want to return. and both are completely understandable.

imo; if the kiss was meant to prove to aziraphale that crowley wanted him, wanted him to stay - well, it wasn't needed, aziraphale heard crowley all but beg him to stay. alternatively, if the kiss was meant as a "this is what you'll be missing", or "this is my goodbye", or - as i personally think - "this will make you stay"... well, these are all pretty shitty.

i do have to wonder if aziraphale has even imagined a kiss with crowley (jane austen, iirc, didn't write romantic kisses in her stories - although she did imply them - and therefore arguably a kiss wouldn't fit into his view of ideal romance... he's likely read other romance stories, but it's specifically austen's he refers to in a romantic capacity in ep2). he likely hasnt, imo, and so with this in mind, when crowley kisses him, how could he possibly see it as anything other than possession, carnal and rough, and as manipulation?

that isn't to say aziraphale isn't open to it - the ox scene and the 40s minisode certainly suggest it, as does him briefly reciprocating during the kiss itself - but it was sudden and fast and unexpected... arguably all the things that scare aziraphale. he reciprocates, but does he even see his own action as willing, or the result of a temptation? because crowley tempted him? it wasn't consensual, it wasn't discussed or eased into, and to my mind it wasnt emotionally romantic.

regardless of the extenuating emotion behind it, it was not a good move on crowley's part. manifestly, it might have even pitted aziraphale against him - aziraphale has always seen crowley as a good person, that's the whole reason behind the restoration offer in the first place... but this? this will have potentially shown to aziraphale that crowley might not be wholly who he thought he was. bad news bears.

anyway sorry, accidental analysis!!!✨ but regardless - thank you so much for being so kind to say what you have, it truly is lovely and very much appreciated. please keep sharing your own meta and analysis, regardless of reach you do or do not have; ive added on multiple posts a tag that reads "#in this house every opinion is valid if you can argue it well enough", and whilst jokey, i do hold that stance. ive rb'd and liked plenty of meta/analysis that are different to or at odds with my own, because i definitely don't think im 100% correct, and actually we all might - between us - have reached the right interpretation together, collectively. as long as it isn't outright offensive, and basically doesn't point-blank ignore the canon or narrative, i truly don't think any interpretation is cancellable if it can be backed up!!!✨💕

I just read your tags under your "When The Rain Starts To Pour " fics, and I'm so happy you want to give that story another try. Since you first posted the first chapter I found it really hard not to think about it. It's just so good and I love how it's a combination of two of my favourite shows. The sarcasm is on point, I like the dynamic between the reader and Eddie a lot already and I just love everything about it.

Hi Mikey! My name is Allie (I was actually the anon that sent in the ask earlier about being in med school and watching kids transition) but I wanted to come off anon and reply to that idiot in your inbox.

“Children can’t consent” is truly one of the most irritating phrases that I encounter in medicine and as someone who hopes to become a paediatrician one day, I really need people to stop being so dense and listen to what I’m about to say:

Children cannot consent to WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DO TO THEM. This doesn’t mean, however, that children cannot have autonomy over their own bodies, and if you are an adult, treating them as such may I please just say that you. Suck.

It’s why parents who hit their children suck. It’s why adults who groom children suck. It’s also (fucking newsflash here) why bigots suck too. Children, for example, cannot consent to sex as they are too young to understand someone else having access to their body in such an intimate form, and can easily be coerced. Children, however, can begin exploring masturbation from a very young age and the reason that any sane doctor would encourage parents not to shame them is because it is their own body!!! It is autonomy!!! As long as they are not hurting themselves, you have no right to impose any form of structure regarding consent. Children are still people. Why is this so fucking difficult for some of you to understand.

Now I’d like to get back to the issue you have specified (🙄) anon, regarding trans youth. Denying a child a right to their preferred gender or sexuality is just as bigoted and unreasonable as denying the same right to an adult. Does this mean that very young boy we see playing with a barbie, or every young girl we see playing football should be pumped full of hormones? No of course not. I think you know that, yet transphobes pretend like this is some kind of radical agenda that trans -affirming people have, when in reality it’s just empathy. The truth is, I think a child who is self aware enough to express their understanding and confusion regarding their gender is more ‘whole’ than you seem to be able to comprehend!

Children are people. Trans children are people. Stop denying them the right to a self-affirming existence. Or at least, shut up about your bigotry. I’m tired of hearing it.
