Well .. my favorite kiss is the episode 3 kiss. I was gonna say episode 7 but I remember how slow and gentle Kinn was on that pier and I just melt inside. 😅 😩😭

okay, as a literature student i can’t help but read between the lines of joel’s words.

i feel like we’re looking at joel’s lack of words due to his fear of causing more damage than repair as “he slept with jan” which, good point, but far too obvious.

i’m taking joel’s unresponsive ass not saying anything because he wants to admit he’s in love with the reader, but was too scared for how she might take it.

reader has fucked other guys whilst joel and reader are sleeping together, and joel knows this, and that’s why he mentioned the date to reader because he’s trying to hint he wants something more serious (but he wants something serious with reader).

and joel didn’t want to tell reader he’s in love with her because:

a) he had zero conformation up until their little tussle that reader liked him

b) he’d have to admit that he went on that date with jan knowing he’s in love with reader

c) telling reader he liked her after causing so much doubt and insecurity isn’t going to make her feel any better.

so i think whilst we can say that joel slept with jan, let’s also look back ay joel’s behaviour in previous chapters!! tell me that man doesn’t treat reader like she’s the reason his heart pumps blood around his body!!

Let's dive in:

I can totally see that. Joel's a mature, experienced guy and he's shown emotional intelligence so far, so I'm sure he's very much aware reader "likes" him and enjoys spending time with him. I don't see him as the kind of guy that would be seeing her if there was no genuine emotional connection or friendship between them. However, as you said, I do think he didn't know how deep her feelings really were. And how would he? She's been great at hiding them from him (& herself). I do think he would be smart enough not to blurt out "I love you" after reader just spilled her feelings for the first time and is obviously vulnerable & hurt. If he really does love her, he'll find a better way to tell her and dispel her doubts.

b) he’d have to admit that he went on that date with jan knowing he’s in love with reader

Yes. While that wouldn't be the end of the world (in my opinion), this is not the right moment to discuss it and would for sure not make reader feel any better or any more secure.

c) telling reader he liked her after causing so much doubt and insecurity isn’t going to make her feel any better.

True. Can you imagine? She'd feel like he's making fun of her or something. A confession like that would need to happen in a calm setting where they're alone and well rested, not in a bar restroom while the reason for reader's doubt is currently waiting upstairs.
