The Bad Batch and arts and crafts hobbies

It’s October, and I’m in that mood. Here we go.

Hunter

If you guessed that he’s into carpentry, woodworking, and whittling, you’d be absolutely correct. He likes working his hands, and he’s good with knives. The amount of detail work involved with these hobbies helps him calm down and focus his senses.

Hunter likes to make intricate pieces for his family and friends, especially as gifts to mark significant events. The rest of the Batch all have tables and bookshelves that he made for them as they settled into a more peaceful life. His earlier efforts are rough, but his siblings love them regardless. Omega especially loves the (somewhat lopsided) desk that he made for her to do her schoolwork on.

He also picks up pottery as another way to focus and calm his senses down. Hunter is surprisingly good at working with clay and etching detailed designs into the pots, bowls, vases, and cups he creates. While he’s not going to be a standout master of the craft, he finds the process to be very therapeutic.

Crosshair

Crosshair can draw like there’s no tomorrow. (He designed all of the Batch’s tattoos.) In his retirement, he’s the most content with a sketch pad and some pencils, charcoal, or watercolors in hand. It’s not uncommon to find him stretched out somewhere and capturing something in his sketchbook.

While he has many sketchbooks tucked away on a bookshelf, Crosshair doesn’t always love to show his work to those outside his close circle. It’s a sign that he likes someone when he gifts them a personal sketch.

Crosshair is also an origami nerd. He appreciates the detail work that goes into folding paper into intricate shapes. This is a skill that he picked up many years ago and rediscovered in retirement. It becomes an open recurring joke that you can always find Crosshair by the trail of origami designs he leaves in his wake, if you look close enough. (He won’t say it out loud, but he likes the way people light up when they happen upon one of his little designs. Seeing his little efforts find new homes makes him happy.)

Tech

Guess who turns out to be good at glassblowing? Of course, it’s Tech. He finds the whole process to be fascinating and full of interesting possibilities. Tech can visualize what he’s going to create (and then actually create the thing) in a way that’s almost supernatural. The results of his efforts are always unique and beautiful.

He often enjoys talking with other glassblowers to learn about their processes and different methods. A byproduct of this effort is the growing number of little glass objects that rotate through the Batch’s house(s). Tech is always down to share his efforts with anyone who is expresses an interest in this hobby.

Tech also gets into metalwork. It’s a natural crafty hobby jump from glassblowing. Once he feels like he’s mastered it well enough, he starts combining them with his glassblowing. It’s not uncommon to find him putting up new pieces in trees around the neighborhood, situating them in ways that will catch the light.

Wrecker

Oh boy, Wrecker can sew with the best of them. You wouldn’t expect that from a man of his size, but he can. Sewing is something that requires him to slow down, stay focused, and be gentle with his efforts. He loves sewing so much and is often times found making puppets, toys, and other little things for the kiddos in his life. Things that he makes are extremely durable and have a habit of lasting for a long time.

Any time someone he knows welcomes a new child into their family, said new child gets a special blanket and little stuffy from their honorary Uncle Wrecker. (The stuffy design is always based on his Lula. That’s okay, because every kid loves Lula and should have their own.)

Wrecker also gets super into collages and scrapbooking. All he needs is a general idea for something and he can create the most perfect product. He pours his whole heart into preserving his family’s history. Making a collage or a scrapbook for someone is a sign of much he loves them.

Echo

Echo likes cross-stitching. He usually has some project tucked away somewhere to work on during lulls between missions and on long flights. It’s a good way to pass the time and to let his brain rest from the amount of electronic data he’s got going through his brain at any given time.

He likes creating little samplers of his brothers’ unique helmet designs and giving them those samplers. (It’s a mark of honor to get one of these from Echo.) Doing this is also a way he can memorialize the brothers they’ve lost over the years.

Echo is also a calligraphy nerd. Oh boy does he enjoy this craft as a hobby. It started as a way to train the fine motor control in his left hand after he got rescued from Skako Minor, but soon expanded from there. Being able to create a beautiful piece of calligraphy takes time, patience, and skill. Echo appreciates everything that goes into that and finds practicing this art to be rewarding. The fact that his efforts usually result in ridiculous puns and little shit insults is often left unsaid.

Omega

Omega didn’t have much external stimulation before she met the Batch. She would entertain herself by looking at images from anywhere that wasn’t Kamino and Tipoca City. Once she joined the Batch, she discovered the art of photography and never looked back.

It took her brothers a while to get used to being her initial subjects. They weren’t used to having someone take their pictures. However, that wore off when they saw the candid photos Omega took of them. She captures them as they are away from the battlefield and when they’re happy as a family. Her favorite subjects to photograph are people who are just living their lives. She loves to show how wonderful ordinary people and lives are.

Omega also takes up crocheting as a way to pass the time during long flights. She’s a growing kid with a lot of energy, so having something to occupy her hands and mind really helps her. Plus, all her brothers wind up with many special blankets from her. She’ll often hang out with Wrecker as he’s sewing or mending something. (He cries when she gives him her first successful crocheted project, a rather lopsided replica of Lula. Wrecker doesn’t mind that this crocheted doll is a bit lumpy in places. Omega made it for him, and that’s what matters the most.)

Well since I'm committing to this, I'm making my sona more of a oc and have to flesh out their backstory. Here are some rough designs from Summer's magic college days before they met Pavo. Tremella was Summer's roommate. She's only in magic college because of her family's potion shop. Tremella also minoring in education

Dean Lula has run the college for centuries to help magic students become professional spell casters. As technology has advanced though the college is just there to help magic users control their powers or get the licenses they need. Despite stating this multiple times it did not Summer applying for college.

Unnecessary and Trivial Star Wars Headcanons part 4

• Wrecker has a higher metabolism than any other clone

• Tech can speak backwards

• Hunter often listens to soft lofi music

• Hunter is a very picky eater due to his enhanced senses. Food with strong flavors REALLY bother him

• Wrecker is deaf in his left ear. He tends to speak louder because of this.

• Fives is a skilled ARC and a genius when it comes to battle. He is skilled in the field. But he is also the guy that forgets where he put his socks every morning.

• Clone Troopers have a high tolerance to alcohol, but they still get drunk because they always ask for the stuff with the highest concentration of alcohol and drink lots of it. The average clone would be able to drink a six pack of beer cans before actually getting drunk.

I LOVE U MARI PARRY I love her I love her. Canon!Mari (aka baby!Mari) was so cute and stole my heart instantly with like less than 3 lines. i was like “omg Diana MORE of this one please.” Fanon!Mari (or at least my fanon/headcanon version of her) is so cool and funny she’s such a goof shes such a fun gal. She has Peter Pan syndrome much like a beloved relative of hers whom we all know. She has ADHD. she would definitely do parkour if she knew what it was. but her parents keep her in line. they get in fights a lot. strict parents+adhd kid= LOTS of friction. they love each other though. Mari likes sports I think. Idk what different sports are called in Wales unfortunately lol did they have hockey in Wales in the 90’s? Do they call it hockey? I have a headcanon that at some point during The Clone Wars, Padme went on a mission with Clone Force 99 at least once. Her proficiency in "aggressive negotiations" immediately gave her the status of "our girl" as Hunter called her in one of season 7's deleted scenes... with Wrecker having the biggest crush on the senator out of the whole Batch.

When Padme admitted she has trouble sleeping due to very important voting at the Senate, Wrecker immediately proposed to lend her Lula, as the toy is an expert at helping people fall asleep.

Of course Wrecker's proposition had an ulterior motive - when with Padme, Lula is safe from being damaged or stolen but also... the toy has to be given back, so him and the Naboo senator will have to meet again.

headcanon that one of jiang ziya/taigong wang's noble phantasms if he were summoned in the caster class would be the apricot yellow flag/banner, or more specifically the wuji apricot yellow flag/banner (戊己杏黄旗), and it would function as a defense-oriented NP, with ten thousand golden lotuses blooming around him being the visual indicators of its activation

(I like to imagine also that the banner's defensive capabilities would be heightened against attacks/attacking NPs with more Mystery behind them due to how it was used in fengshen yanyi, but that's just how I see it asjdkgh)

I love that Sam Manson loves the holiday season

I think it makes perfect sense for a character like Sam to enjoy something that most people would expect her not to, she doesn't conform to shit, she can be a goth and still love the holidays, she can be anti-capitalist and anti-consumerism and still love the holidays

imagine Sam giving out a ton of home made gifts, and those cards that have seeds embedded in them so you can bury them in the garden, imagine Sam using entirely biodegradable decorations, even making them herself if she has to

Sam would be the most thoughtful god damn gift giver, if it isn't something she made for you personally it's something you actually genuinely needed or something you really wanted but couldn't afford

any gift shopping she has to do she definitely does it earlier in the year so as not to add to the insane pressure for retail workers, and if she does have to shop during this time she tips wicked heavy, and she definitely puts a lot of focus into small family run businesses and local artists

she 100% donates to those 'gifts for kids in need' programs (after making sure they're legit and reputable) and definitely makes a lot of local contributions to community hall events and such (especially library events)

her parents absolutely do everything in their power to encourage this behaviour because oh my god she's being pleasant and friendly for a change and yes honey you can absolutely donate to that charity! the neighbours gave ten grand to one of those fresh water pumps in one of those poor countries and we need to at LEAST double that if we want to rub it in their faces at the next gala

Sam is 100% aware her parents are using her to benefit their image but she gets to pick the charities and they'll give her as much money as she asks for so she considers it a win win

anyone who knows more about Hanukkah traditions than I do is absolutely welcome to add to this with more Jewish specific details to Sam's festive attitude, like please I'd love to see it

Headcanons for Lorenzo Berkshire

• He doesn’t have the best grades, but he does try hard.

• With his mother being Bellatrix. I think her main focus would be on Mattheo, so Lorenzo always shows her what he did better than Mattheo on.

• He is incredibly cocky like the rest of the “Slytherin boys”, since he is a Berkshire, a wealthy pure blood

• He doesn’t really have opinions on Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, but the way he grew up around people who weren’t to fond on Gryffindors it wouldn’t be a house he likes. (Same as Theo’s)

• Most of his crushes would probably be Slytherins.

• Slytherin Keeper, joined in 5th year.

• Has a strained relationship with his father, and tries to please his mother even if she’s ashamed of him.
