The battlemap I made for the big finale to the Eberron game I ran the last few years! This was one of the more complex ones I made, with three levels to the mansion the party were partying and then fighting in. The final fight(s) went really well, and I was proud of how it turned out!

A shout out to Phased Battlemaps in DnD. If you can find a good one with 5 or so phases, it makes for the most dynamic action scene. Like a cave that fills with water every turn or a mansion that is slowly burning. Download them, add them to Roll20 (or other VTT), set them up on the map so that the first one is on top and descends, then send that layer to the back to change phases. Then add some kind of mechanic where the phases matter, like a growing zone where you take damage of your standing in it.

Here's some extra material to supplement the tour of my bard's Magnificent Mansion!

Decommissioned rooms

There were some rooms I designed that I had to remove from the final version. Firstly, the stables.

The Rising Loons had horses for a bit, so I thought the mansion might need a space to keep them. The stables went in the place of the arboretum. But then our horses all either died or turned into a magically summoned pegasus, so I put the arboretum back!

This was eons before the Horse Ranch DLC was announced, so I had to make fake stalls. In the second picture you can see the archway, gate, and debug fence piece that I layered together to make the stall doors. I was pretty proud of the design!

The other rooms I had to decommission were the bedrooms of Yew and Surkho, our fallen PCs.

Yew's room was next to her sister Vesper's, and I designed them to match. I got to use the big fancy stained-glass canopy bed from Realm of Magic, and the moon rug.

For our emo boy Surkho's room I had no trouble getting the aesthetic! There's even a bird skull decoration :)

I realized that even though our characters will mostly be going into the mansion to sleep, I hadn't shown off the mansion at night during the tour. So here's the arboretum and the planning lounge under the stars!

Finally, I spliced together top-down photos of all the rooms into a properly gridded map that we could load onto Roll20. The spell automatically keeps out unwelcome visitors, so we'll never have to use it as a battlemap... right?

Make a Map!

The competition is very simple. Make a map and then send it to me! That's it!

In order for the map to be judged for this competition, you must use the assets/textures from the Dark Lord pack here on my patreon or from the Caeora folder that you can find in Dungeonfog.

How to enter:

Download the assets, textures from the link at the end of this post or use the new setting “Caeora” in the props-tool of Dungeonfog.

You can create any size map that you like. (Optionally. download the Blank A1 template in the downloads below if you are using a drawing program like Photoshop)

Rules:

The map must use the Dark Lord assets. You don’t necessarily need to use every asset, just pick whatever you like. Optionally you may use any other asset made by Caeora.

You can be as creative as you want with the composition, colors, and scale of said assets, plus you can add any drawing, text and markers you want. However custom drawings will not be taken into account when judging the map

You can use any software you want. (Should be much easier to make with DGNFOG now, head over to the website at https://www.dungeonfog.com/. You can find the assets with a free account!)

The time limit for submission is the 13th of June 2020 at 23:59 BST, any submission after the time limit will not be judged.

Submissions that are deemed offensive or inappropriate in any way will be automatically disqualified.

No one remembers when the house was abanoned by the owners, but over the years no one has really been brave enough to investigate. As the house and grounds became delapidated, the strange sounds, lights and mist became more common. Only a very brave fool would venture there now.

A set of printable battlemaps compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset.

Contents: A multiple level map consisting of a 5 storey haunted stately home mansion, spread across 4 30x30 (and one 20x30)battlemaps, each depicting a different floor of the house.

Cellar - includes kitchens, pantries, wine cellar, abandoned rooms, secret tunnels and more

Ground floor - front garden, dining room, entrance hall, ballroom and parlour
