Chet Atkins performing “Would Jesus Wear a Rolex”. _____________________________ Would Jesus Wear a Rolec Songwriters: Chet Atkins and Margaret Archer
Woke up this mornin', turned on the t.v. set. there in livin' color, was somethin' I can't forget. This man was preachin' at me, yeah, layin' on the charm askin' me for twenty, with ten-thousand on his arm. He wore designer clothes, and a big smile on his face sellin' me salvation while they sang Amazin' Grace. Askin' me for money, when he had all the signs of wealth. I almost wrote a check out, yeah, then I asked myself
Would He wear a pinky ring, would He drive a fancy car? Would His wife wear furs and diamonds, would His dressin' room have a star? If He came back tomorrow, well there's somethin' I'd like to know  Could ya tell me, Would Jesus wear a Rolex on His television show.
Would Jesus be political if He came back to earth? Have His second home in Palm Springs, yeah, a try to hide His worth? Take money, from those poor folks, when He comes back again, and admit He's talked to all them preachers who say they been a talkin' to Him?
Just ask ya' self, Would He wear a pinky ring, Would He drive a fancy car? Would His wife wear furs and diamonds, would His dressing room have a star? If He came back tomorrow, well there's somethin' I'd like to know: Could ya tell me, would Jesus wear a Rolex, Would jesus wear a Rolex Would Jesus wear a Rolex On His television show-ooh-ooh?

Georgian era Yeomanry officers sabre styled after the 1796 Pattern light cavalry sabre.
Produced by William Henry Archer of Dublin using a Solingen produced blade imported J J Runkel.
This sabre is another example of the many quirky swords that abounded during this period. While the government was working to establish regulation pattern swords, many officers, especially those in the yeomanry, volunteers or militia were content to continue using the equipment that best suited them. As a result there are many surviving examples that are next to impossible to attribute to a unit or branch or service. In only a few examples are we lucky enough to have identifying inscriptions on the sword or scabbard. And even these need to be viewed with caution.
Stylistically, animal motifs were a common decorative feature on swords of this time. With the lions head so popular that it became part of several British Pattern swords, including the sabre still in service with British naval officers. A variation of the animal theme. horse-heads pommels seemed to have been more common among the cutlers from Ireland, with Archer and Reed the more frequently encountered suppliers.
Because the hilt is broadly modeled on the 1796 Pattern light cavalry sabre, with the dual langets, P-shaped stirrup guard and a very functional blade of cavalry proportions, I believe it would have belonged to an Yeomanry officer based in Ireland. The gilt hilt also precludes it from having belonged to a regular army officer.
At the time, the yeomanry had been raised from the upper classes as a reserve force ready to protect Great Britain should Napoleonic France attempt to invade. They also had the secondary function of 'keeping the peace'. In a time before an established police force, the yeomanry were often called upon to break-up any unrest. Which meant that the ones based in Ireland were more active than most.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I estimate that this sword dates from 1798 to 1802 based near identical presentation examples produced by William Archer which have inscriptions dated to 1800. The blade is also decorated with the pre-1801 coat of arms so is unlikely to date after 1803.
Tumblr media
William Henry Archer started his career as a sword cutler in 1783 when he married Margaret Shaw, widow of Richard Shaw.
Richard Shaw, was a sword cutler from 1765 to 1782 when he died of injuries caused by the collapse of Music Hall floor. Margaret continued her husbands business in her name until she married William Archer in 1783. It is quite possible that William was working as an apprentice for the Shaws at the time and the marriage was a way to maintain the business. Such arrangements were not unheard of in a time when women were not allowed to own property or enter into contracts.
Archer continued remained in business until his death in 1830, during this time he also served as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1812 and 1830 so he must have been a successful and respected businessman of his time.

Naming Conventions
🌷;; Borrower names are often borrowed from nouns or adjectives, or borrowed from animals/human names.
🍀;; The following shows the most common borrower names. Some names have strong female or male associations, but most of them are unisex. Most borrowers' names are strictly dictionary, literal nouns and rarely have deeper forms.
❄️;; After seasons: Spring, Winter, Summer or Autumn/Fall. Often because they were born in that season or because it holds a special meaning for the parents. Example: The parents met in Summer, the kid was born in Winter, or they found a home in Spring.
🌺;; After flowers: Rose, Lily, Ivy, Violet, Magnolia, Lilac, Rosemary, Bluebell, Wisteria, Tulip, Margaret, Buttercup, Peony, Orchid, Camellia, Lavender, Petal.
🌳;; After herbs, trees and other plants: Basil, Dandelion, Laurel, Cedar, Leaf, Willow, Aspen, Clover, Cypress, Ginger, Olive, Mint, Herb, Sage, Moss, Pine, Oak, Branch.
🌎;; After noble occupations that their family used to have or that they find brave and charming: Archer, Hunter, Ranger, Author, Gather, Dancer, Rider, Fisher, Rogue, Striker, Chaser, Poet, Explorer
🍎;; From fruits, spices or food: Apple, Honey, Apricot, Cherry, Cinnamon, Plum, Peach, Tangerine, Lemon, Almond, Sesame, Rue, Strawberry, Saffron, Pepper, Maple, Berry, Clove, Tea, Thyme, Fennel, Coriander
🛠️;; From household items or tools: Penny, Denim, Clay, Quill, Blade, Treasure, Dagger, Cotton, Jewel, Velvet, Calico, Anchor, Feather, Dice, Coal, Shell, Guitar, Bell
🐿️;; From animals or bugs: Robin, Raven, Hummingbird, Byrd, Fox, Bee, Fawn, Lark, Cricket, Newt, Crow, Teal, Buck, Sparrow, Doe, Dove, Crane, Swan, Canary, Wren.
🌙;; From natural phenomena: Rain, Storm, Sky, Snow, Cloud, Sun, Moon, Star
⭐;; From human names/pet names: for example, being named after a cool name your parent saw in a magazine, or once when they saw what the human called the housecat.
Changing your name in borrower culture:
• Contrary to popular belief, often borrower names given by parents don't actually have a deep value, like with humans. They're often more than welcomed to change it however they wish, this is known as "to borrow a name".
• Some borrowers will change their name just because they found a nicer one, or they want to transition to one that fits more their current identity or their age. Some nicknames may transform into a borrowers' name, this is surprisingly common. This tradition is popular, especially reaching adulthood or even late teens, and some communities heavily encourage the borrowing of a name to signal a borrower is ready to get involved within the community. A borrower may have borrowed lots of names through their lives.
• Some people give their kids ‘baby names’. This is the case of names like ‘Peanut’, 'Raindrop', "Button" or ‘Seed’ and they are expected to be changed later on when the borrower finds their own identity. The new name shall be called the "Chosen name/true name", and it is considered demeaning/patronizing/sometimes mocking to insist on using the baby name of someone to address them (if you happen to know it); this happens a lot with parents and their young. Baby names lose their value the second they change it, so it's not really necessary to let others know what it was unless you want to explain the term to a human and get teased for one month.
🪲;; Some spelling has changed over time, transforming “Bird” into “Byrd”, for example. There is also a tendency of choosing shorter names, making "Leaf" or "Petal" one of the most common ones.
🪲;; Giving nicknames based on their skills, personality or appearance is very common. This tradition has developed from survival purposes but now it is considered cultural, a form of showing love and is especially seen from older borrowers to the young.
🪲;; Borrowers don't have middle names.
About last names: This depends on the family, some of them consider them superficial and have no last names. Some borrowers do HAVE last names, especially the ones living in communities. As with names, last names don't usually hold a deeper value and have very literal meanings. Most of them reflect the particular part of the landhouse their hideout is close by, whether it's the Clock, the Cabinet, the Shower, etc. Their last names may or may not be subject to change in case they move out, some could be slightly attached to them so they choose to keep it.
Generally speaking, when a borrower "marries" another and they move out, they'll get a new last name based on the location they're building their hideout on, which their children will inherit until they move out. This would make most Borrower's last names transitory.

Rick looked at Margaret with a troubled expression on his face- "We don't have lots of space inside the car." He told her, "You have to decide whether you want to ride with Shane or Daryl." He tried to project a sense of urgency by looking her right in the eye as he spoke.
Margaret responded with a worried expression on her face.- "I think both of them are very intolerant to me, and it seems like they are not interested in hearing what I am saying or considering my perspective. It has been really difficult to communicate effectively with them."
"Sure, I understand, but there's no other choice," he said, then hurried away to help other people.
"The hell, there is no way I am doing it"- Margaret muttered to herself in an angry yet helpless voice.
The sun was burning through the clouds, shedding golden light over everything. The soft air brushed Margaret's dark hair and some strands dropped before her eyes, so she brushed them aside to remove them from her view. The wind was still blowing but the air was warm and made the atmosphere pleasant and peaceful. "At least the weather is great"-she sighed.
Then she heard something. So she bent her head against the noise and saw Carol and some other people hugging Morales and his family. She walked towards them, feeling the need to find out what was going on. She found out that the Morales family didn't plan to go with them. It was odd that she wanted to say bye to them although they had not known each other for long she sent them words of goodwill and goodbye.
"Okay, guys! We're leaving!"
Tumblr media
After having a conversation with Jim, Rick returned to the group and informed them, "Jim wants to be left there, he said he wants to be with his family again."
"Are you sure he meant it?"- Shane asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure"
Then Lori spoke, her voice was heavy with a deep sadness and a sense of resignation. "We can't do anything about his decision, I understand it's a terrible thing for us, but still, if he wants it then we must let him be."
"Lori is right." Margaret simply nodded in approval.
...
After carrying Jim, who was too weak to keep going, Shane and Rick placed him by the tree. The rest of the group gathered around him to say their goodbyes in their unique ways. Margaret, who had only just met Jim, approached him and said, "It was nice to meet you, even if I weren't able to meet you before you got a bit.." She wiped her tears and rejoined the group, who were waiting for her near the parked cars. As she walked towards Daryl's vehicle, she opened the door, sat down, and placed her backpack next to her feet. The Archer sat behind the car's wheel and drove, trailing closely behind the others. Margaret was lost in her thoughts and was trying to push aside the recent events that had taken place, she watched as the trees passed by in a blur. Just then, Daryl broke the silence with a question that surprised her. "Why would ya even bother?" he asked.
"You mean Jim?" - Margaret looked at him. - "I guess it had such an impact on me because not many people are left in this world ..." Then it was silence; no one spoke and the only sound everyone heard was the car engine. Margaret took out from her backpack a notebook and a pen and began to write something.
As the pen touched the paper, the ink began to run, and some letters kept coming and coming until a new poem was formed. Her mind was calm and relaxed. Each stroke of the pen was deliberate and measured as if each letter was a piece of art. It was a gradual and tender process, but the result was a piece of poetry that was simply gorgeous and it expressed the thoughts and feelings of Margaret in a way that only words could.
"In shadows cast by crimson skies,
Amidst the whispers, silent cries,
The world now falls, its end draws near,
As people leave, consumed by fear.
Through barren lands, they wander lost,
Their dreams and hopes now turned to frost.
The echo of their steps grows faint,
As they depart without restraint.
No more the laughter, joy, or song,
Just remnants of a world gone wrong.
In silence now, they fade away,
As night devours the light of day.
But in the ruins, new seeds sow,
A glimmer of hope begins to grow.
For from the ashes, life shall rise,
Beneath the bleak and ashen skies"
Archer took a quick peek at the notebook that she was writing in and then turned his gaze towards the street. "The hell ya writin'?" he asked curiously. She paused for a moment, before answering, "Nothing"
"If it's nothin' then stop"- Daryl said.
"Great timing, I have just finished."
"Fine, quit talkin'. It pisses me off," he harshly answered, his tone brimming with annoyance. He rolled his eyes in frustration. His body language spoke volumes, revealing that he was no longer interested in continuing the discussion. Margaret felt perplexed as she found herself in a rather confusing situation. It was he who initiated the conversation, asking questions.- "Why are you such an asshole? I didn't do anything."
Daryl let out a grunt of frustration.-" And that's the problem, ya do nothin', just writin' yer stupid poems. The world ended, poems won't save anyone!"
Tumblr media
As strong as her desire to leave the car was, she knew she had to remain there. It seemed like the ride was endless, with Margaret and Daryl quarreling about nothing specific. The Archer couldn't stand her taking part in their group, and she felt like a ballast to him. Margaret, in contrast, was infuriated with Daryl for being a bastard and that he should at least try to be nice to the people. The yelling just got louder and louder as each of them tried to prove themselves louder than the other.
As the car stopped, Daryl came out of it fast, and the rest of the group followed, the cars' doors slamming behind them in a tense, synchronized manner. Of a sudden, Margaret pondered a while, taking in the depressing display before her, before she hardened herself and went along with the others.
The smell was so strong, that it hung thickly in the air, invading their senses with its undiluted sulfury intensity, and trying to overpower any stomach that wasn’t the strongest in the world. Margaret struggled to prevent the nausea from taking over, one hand covering the mouth and nose and the other trying to block the foul smell. Beside them was the scenery littered with the lifeless bodies of the fallen, their distorted and twisted bodies a haunting reminder of the horrors that their companions witnessed. A buzzing of flies was unstoppable. The most horrible sensation gripped them as they trudged onward, slowly approaching the huge outline of the CDC, all their hopes and aspirations pinned on the tiny chance of finding something good inside those walls. Every step was like a hesitating tread toward a murky destiny, yet they had no other choice but to hold tightly to the slender strands of hope that remained.
As Rick and the others tried to figure out how to get inside the building Margaret angled over to look behind her. "SHIT"- Margaret's heart beat so fast, it was like a drum, as she tried to grab her knife from her knife pocket, only to find it stuck. A wave of panic rose inside her, her blank forehead getting covered with cold sweat. The air smelled like death approaching as the walkers came closer, their growls getting louder with each step. A heavyweight with a sickening thud, she was downed to the ground, pinned underneath a man's living body. She wrestled with the heavy mass, almost panting with every breath. In the next second, an arrow penetrated the walker's head, and the lifeless body fell with a disgusting thud and lay right on top of Margaret. Blood stained her face, and her skin gave a creepy sensation. Without any delay, she rose to her feet and noticed that Daryl was lowering his crossbow, but in this situation, she did not pay much attention to it.
Amid the fog of fear and the storm of confusion, Margaret saw Rick one more time yelling into the camera of the CDC building. Rick's voice was echoing through the empty streets as he screamed, "YOU'RE KILLING US." Lori came to his side as fast as she could, trying to calm him down. Abruptly, a blinding light filled the air and there was no more possibility of seeing anything around them. It was not until their eyes were fully adjusted that they were able to see that the gigantic gate of the CDC building was open.
...
The atmosphere was strained, as each individual in the hall clutched their gun tightly, eyes narrowed, hearts drumming with adrenaline. Only the faint glow of emergency lights, barely helping to see. It was there at the deep end of the corridor that they finally saw the form they were longing for. He was seen with the silhouette shaped against the gloominess, weapon in hand, the glitter of the metal could not escape the sight. His steps were precise, when moving around, as also he had this confidence, that he knew what he was doing. As he took a step forward, the others got their fingers close to the trigger of their guns, with muscles tensing up. The face-off to be endless, each and every breath reverberating exceedingly in the silence. The last thing he could recall was the stranger's voice - heard unexpectedly, it sent chills down their spines. His voice was low, barely riseing above the background noise, but there was a certain something in it, a weariness, or maybe a resolve borne through years of outliving the crazies.
"Anybody is infected?" he said sharply- his voice cutting through the tension like a sharp knife. Words were like a blade in the air, heedless to the unnatural dread that had overcome them all. For a split second, everything was frozen, with the only sound of the odd mechanical murmurs from the ventilation system. As Rick and a blonde-haired man conversed, the rest of the group had agreed to undergo blood tests that the unknown man had suggested to check for any potential infections. The gate was then closed, and they all made their way underground via the elevator. As they reached the lowest floor they all got out of the elevator and followed the man.
Then Margaret noticed that Carol's complexion seemed paler than usual. Concerned, Margaret asked, "Hey Carol, are you feeling okay?" To which Carol replied, "Yes, I am just claustrophobic," as she started to breathe heavily. Understanding Carol's condition, Margaret simply nodded in response. As they walked further down the corridor, a man stopped before a large room. He instructed, "Vi, bring up the lights in the big room," This was everybody having a hard time understanding what was going on. They have come across a guy who seems to be talking to a person or something invisible. Their confusion was not yet over since the lights came up and revealed to them a room that had never existed before. The man who had been talking turned to face the group, and he called himself Dr. Jenner. He said that they were in zone 5 now. In the beginning, they were perplexed and disturbed. But, knowing that they were at least safe amid all the unrest and chaos of the apocalypse helped them feel a sense of relief.
Tumblr media
The last person whose blood was analyzed was Margaret. On the moment, she sat down on the chair, anxiety washed over her, and she instantly became white. Dr. Jenner had realized her worry. He told her gently, "Don’t say you are scared of needles, just don’t think about it", trying to relax her nerves and calm her down. Margaret became ashamed of her actions. She was aware that she was behaving like a 4-year-old child but she was helpless. And one tear rolled from her eye and down her cheek. She was fast enough to clean it with no trace that Dr. Jenner even looked at it.
Needles turned out to be her Achilles' heel. This was the start when she was a young kid while being vaccinated. The one who was vaccinating me was not at all gentle, and the treatment was unbearably painful. In the following days, Margaret developed a phobia for needles. It was not only fear; it was a vengeful, savage hatred.
Margaret attempted to avert her mind by concentrating on a point in the wall as Dr. Jenner set up the equipment. She could hear her heartbeat racing with every passing second. Memories of past painful incidents came out to her mind and that made her anxiety more severe. Dr. Jenner walked towards her on her face trying to ease her anxiety. "Okay, Margaret, just a moment of pinch, and it will be gone before you can say anything," he said reassuringly. Margaret gave a weak smile in response, but her hands were moist with sweat and her stomach was knotting up with fear. She closed and squeezed her eyes tightly, trying to block the impending pain. The needles prick stung sharply causing Margaret to involuntarily twitch. The sensation of the needle piercing her skin was followed by a feeling as her blood was extracted. Despite Dr. Jenners reassurances she couldn't shake off the discomfort lingering within her. After what seemed like a moment Dr. Jenner withdrew the needle. Gently apply a cotton ball to the spot. Margaret slowly opened her eyes feeling tired and slightly lightheaded. She let out a sigh of relief grateful that it was finally done.
...
After a long and exhausting day, the group finally reunited to share one of the most priceless moments-the hot and satisfying dinner. Everyone made their contribution, either by cooking or doing the other chores. In the end, when everything was ready, they all sat by to taste the wonderful food. The heat of the meal and the presence of their fellow survivors, even though they were surrounded by the mess outside the world, gave them a much-needed sense of warmth and calm. Margaret had been starving for several days already, and the gorgeous dish that was in front of her was all that she could think about. The room was filled with the appetizing smell of the food, and she was so occupied in relishing each mouthful that she never noticed that T-Dog was trying to say something to her. "Hey, would you like a glass of wine?" he asked, as he attempted to attract her attention. And after getting no response from him, he questioned him all over. Last but not least, Margaret lifted her head and realized that he was addressing her. "Of course," I said with a happy tone. He hands her the glass and carefully pours the wine from the bottle into it, which she takes gratefully and is about to taste.
The mood of the room was jolly, among all people were laughing and having drinks. The air was filled with laughter and people making one joke after another. It did not take long for Margaret to start to talk to Daryl and Shane who were the two people in the group whose dislike for her was the most obvious.
As the world seems to be crazy out of control and full of walkers who to eat all the alive people, there may still be a little hope to find out inner peace and tranquility out of the chaos.

RF4 NPC Buddy Battle Buddies
So as I was going through the Buddy Battle Festival in RF4S, I got curious to see what monsters each npc has. Since I wasn't able to find an actual list someone else made for it, I reset the festival and wrote down what each character has. I also made note on which ones have names.
So here's a list of everyone's pets, for fun!
Arthur: Buffamoo, Elefun

c.275 AD. – St. Sebastian was born in the 3rd century AD. We know the date, but not the year. He is the patron saint of archers because he was bound to a stake and shot with arrows. He is also the patron saint of soldiers. As a beautiful young man he was the favorite of the emperor Diocletian who turned against him for embracing Christianity.
Some tales speculate that the Emperor Diocletian made romantic advances upon Sebastian and was enraged when Sebastian rejected him on Christian grounds. Other stories actually refer to Sebastian as the emperor's lover. Whether or not such accounts are legitimate, the image of St. Sebastian has been linked to homoeroticism.
According to the Church's official Acta Sanctorum, Sebastian, serving under the emperors Diocletian and Maximian, came to the rescue of Christian soldiers, Marcellinus and Mark, and thereby confessed his own Christianity. Diocletian insisted that Sebastian be shot to death by his fellow archers; these orders were followed, and Sebastian was left for dead.
These details—based on accounts written centuries after Sebastian's death and therefore largely apocryphal—may have helped form Sebastian's subsequent reputation as a homosexual martyr since his story constitutes a kind of "coming out" tale followed by his survival of an execution that may be read symbolically as a penetration.
In the Renaissance, Sebastian emerged as an extraordinarily popular subject for painters, perhaps rivaled only by Jesus and Mary; he was especially prized by artists who saw in the young saint a figure of Hellenic loveliness. Numerous painters—Tintoretto, Mantegna, Titian, Guido Reni, Giorgione, Perugino, Botticelli, Bazzi ("Il Sodoma")—recast Sebastian as a martyr beatifically receptive to his arrow-ridden fate.
It was primarily the Renaissance depiction of Sebastian that served a later, explicitly homosexual cult of St. Sebastian that took hold with remarkable force beginning in the nineteenth century, with Sebastian as an modern emblem of both a homoerotically charged object of desire and a source of solace for the rejected homosexual.

1900 – British actor Colin Clive (d.1937) is born in Saint-Malo, France to an English colonel, Colin Philip Greig, and his wife, Caroline Margaret Lugard Clive. He attended Stonyhurst College and subsequently Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where an injured knee disqualified him from military service and contributed to his becoming a stage actor. Clive studied acting, and replaced Laurence Olivier in the stage play, Journey’s End, in 1927.
James Whale was the director of Journey's End. The two struck up an intimate relationship, and Clive played the lead in Journey’s End when it moved to the Savoy Theater in London in 1928. Clive was embraced by Whale’s theatrical friends including actress Elsa Lanchester. He followed Whale to New York City and Whale facilitated the casting of Clive in the movie version of the play.
Journey’s End was Clive’s first of 18 feature films. Clive appeared on Broadway in Overture. When the play closed, he went to London and starred with Elsa Lanchester in The Stronger Sex.
Clive is perhaps best known for playing the role of Dr. Henry Frankenstein in the James Whale-directed Frankenstein (1931) and in the Bride of Frankenstein (1935) with his friend Elsa Lanchester.
Though Clive was gay, he married actress Jeanne de Casalis in 1929, but the marriage was one of convenience, and they separated a short time later.
Clive was a member of the Brit ex-patriot actors in Hollywood including Lanchester, Karloff and Charles Laughton, and remained close with Whale.
The actor struggled with his sexual identity and suffered alcoholism and depression from an early age. His drinking became more and more problematic professionally. He often came to work drunk and passed out on the set. He was even fired from a starring role in a film when he suffered a breakdown.
Clive’s final film was in 1937, The Woman I Love. Colin Clive died on June 25, 1937, of tuberculosis complicated by chronic alcoholism. He was 37 years old. Actress Mae Clarke, one of his leading ladies, said, "Colin was the handsomest man I ever saw and also the saddest."

1979 – Will Young is an English singer and actor. He catapulted to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural UK Pop Idol contest. He has continued to work in music, and also as an actor.
Contrary to popular belief, Will did not come from behind to win the contest. After having beaten the widely-accepted frontrunner Gareth Gates in the final show, it emerged that he had in fact gained the most votes in six out of the nine weeks of the live show.
Young's first single was a double A-side featuring Evergreen and Anything Is Possible. In March 2002 this became the fastest-selling debut in UK chart history, selling 403,027 copies on its day of release (1,108,659 copies in its first week). It went on to sell over 1.7 million copies, and in the official list of the all-time best-selling singles in the UK issued later that year it was 11th. On 31 December 2009, Radio 1 confirmed that Anything Is Possible/Evergreen was the biggest selling single of the 2000s decade in the United Kingdom.
Young subsequently revealed that he was gay, in order to pre-empt a tabloid newspaper that was preparing to run a story 'outing' him. He also stated that he had never hidden, and was comfortable with, his sexuality.
Later in the year, Young met comedian David Walliams and the pair became good friends, with Young appearing at the Little Britain live stage show in Manchester, and later recording a podcast with Walliams, in which they chatted about various aspects of Young's career.
Will added acting to his repertoire when he accepted a role in the BBC film Mrs Henderson Presents, starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins. The film was released in the UK in November 2005 to excellent reviews — not least for Young's performance as both actor and singer in the film.

Today's Gay Wisdom
For The Straight Folks Who Don't Mind Gays But Wish They Weren't So BLATANT
by Pat Parker
You know, some people got a lot of nerve. Sometimes I don't believe the things I see and hear. Have you met the woman who's shocked by two women kissing and in the same breath, tells you she is pregnant? BUT gays, shouldn't be so blatant. Or this straight couple sits next to you in a movie and you can't hear the dialogue because of the sound effects. BUT gays shouldn't be so blatant. And the woman in your office spends an entire lunch hour talking about her new bikini drawers and how much her husband likes them. BUT gays shouldn't be so blatant. Or the "hip" chick in your class rattling like a mile a minute while you're trying to get stoned in the john, about the camping trip she took with her musician boyfriend. BUT gays shouldn't be so blatant. You go in a public bathroom and all over the walls there's John loves Mary, Janice digs Richard, Pepe loves Delores, etc., etc. BUT gays shouldn't be so blatant. Or your go to an amusement park and there's a tunnel of love and pictures of straights painted on the front and grinning couples are coming in and out. BUT gays shouldn't be so blatant. Fact is, blatant heterosexuals are all over the place. Supermarkets, movies, on your job, in church, in books, on television every day day and night, every place - even in gay bars and they want gay men and woman to go and hide in the closet. So to you straight folks I say, "Sure, I'll go if you go too" BUT I'm polite, so, after you.
