Since mermay is right around the corner, I’d like to ask if you’ve ever thought about mer AUs for your favorite ships! I’ve been thinking a lot about mer Aventurine with human Ratio as well as for some Genshin ships, if there’s any you think would work nicely in mer AU’s I’d love to know about them :D

Step one of worshipping Hermaeus Mora is easy: go out and learn things! Compared to what first steps other Princes might require (hunting down dangerous beasts, breaking into highly guarded estates, murdering dozens of people in cold blood, public nudity, etc), this makes following the Old Antecedent highly accessible—you already have the muscle memory from doing it every day. You just need the push of intent.

Step two is to offer your knowledge! If you want to share it with others first instead of offering it directly, that’s fine, It’s patient (another draw! You know how many Daedric Princes throw tantrums if you ignore them for two seconds? So many. Hermaeus Mora does not mind if you leave It on read). 

Also, between you and me, creations made in Its name are like a Daedric Prince Approval Yahtzee.

Now, some folks like to have really complicated rituals for this (candles, incense, symbolic sacrifice of body parts, etc), which is wonderful! Each entity does it a little differently and It wouldn’t have it any other way. The barebones, though, is:

Magickal Correspondences: Wednesday

Word Origin: the term “Wednesday” is derived from the Old English “Wōdnesdæg,” which is “Woden’s Day” or “Odin’s Day”. Odin was the ruler of the Norse Gods, and was the God of wisdom, magic, victory, kinship, and death. In the Greco-Roman pantheon, Odin is connected to Mercury or Hermes because they are the guides of souls after death. Because Wednesday is associated with Mercury, many languages use the prefix “mer-“ in their words for Wednesday. For example in Latin it is “Dies Mercurii”, in Spanish it is “miércoles”, in French it is “mercredi”, and in Italian it is “mercoledì”. Mythology: Odin was the ruler of the Norse pantheon of Gods. He is widely mentioned in sources across Europe, and was considered to be the ancestor of the line of kings. It seems that his position as the ruler of the Norse pantheon was more of an elected official than a born ruler. It is said that Odin along with his two brothers Vili and Vé (sometimes named Hœnir and Lóðurr respectively) slew the giant Ymir, the first being, whose body was transformed into the earth beneath our feet. When walking on this new earth, Odin and his brothers came across driftwood from Yggdrasil the World Tree, and fashioned it into the Ask and Embla, the first man and woman. In this sense, Odin is seen as the “all-father” because he literally made the human race. Odin is famous for his pursuit of wisdom, which is where the correspondence comes from. In his pursuit of knowledge on the future, he questions an old seeress. She tells him of Ragnarök and of his death at the mouth of Fenrir. Disturbed by this revelation, Odin travels the world to find out how to stop this future. This is why Wednesday is corresponded with travel. Odin is also said to have two ravens named Huginn (“thought”) and Munnin (“memory”) who travel the world to gain new information for their master. In another tale of his pursuit of wisdom, Odin trades one of his eyes to the God Mímir so that he may drink from the well of wisdom at the base of Yggdrasil. He also hangs himself from the tree, denying himself food and water, and stabbing himself with a spear. He does this so he may die and be reborn with hidden knowledge, most notably the secret of the runes. In many of these tales, Odin is seen as the wisest of all beings, and yet he still lacks the knowledge to stop Ragnarök. To modern Heathens, Odin is said to recruit new members through dreams and visions.
