Loki Fic Recommendations

For those who don't know, I have a side blog where I post fic recs, @maple-seed-reads

However, I haven't had much time recently to read, I've been focusing on writing instead. Therefore the queue on that blog is currently empty.

I've been feeling a little guilty about that so I decided to make a post here highlighting my favorite authors. I'm linking my favorite stories but you should check out their blogs/masterlists because they all have a variety of stories, if you don't like my suggestion there's probably something else there that you will.

Some of these authors have 18+ content, please respect their tags/notes.

@maiden-of-asgard is currently on hiatus. Her story Frostbite (18+) is widely known but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it just in case. I'm also in love with the in-progress It's Rotten Work.

@grufflepuff-writes-stuff has a series of soft fics called Loki's Lullabies, which currently has 251 entries. Yes, you read that correctly, 251. Three digits. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose a favorite I would still have to change my mind a dozen times, so I'm going to say Cast the Shadows Away and leave it at that. Rest assured, virtually any sweet, soft flavor you are craving can be found somewhere in that series. (Also, those looking for 18+ recommendations should read Catch Fire, Burn the Stars)

@writingfics-passingtime and @just-another-blog-of-fluff, JJ and Jessa, are the dynamic duo of tickle fics. Even if you're not particularly into tickling (I'm not) you should check them out. Their stories are well-crafted and definitely worth the read. Very fluffy, sometimes a little serious, always sweet and wonderful. Favorite from JJ: Understanding Favorite from Jessa: A Startling Realization (I just realized both of those recs are 10k+, if you want shorter fics they have those too.) BONUS: Last year they collaborated on a Christmas fic, A Reason to Celebrate

@munsons-maiden has shifted focus to Eddie Munson, but her Loki fics are still here. You may have to fiddle with the url due to blog name change but it's worth it and not difficult to do. Favorite: Like He Does

@michelleleahhh has an incredible enemies-to-lovers slow burn called Broken Crown (18+) that's filled with mystery and intrigue.

@give-me-a-moose is also on a writing hiatus. You should check out her series, By Hook or by Crook (18+), I am so in love with how in love those two characters are.

@cake-writes has a couple spicy in-progress series that I'm excited for. Dutiful Disaster (18+) is one I recommend if you want to see a couple dummies who think they hate each other but actually obviously don't.

@sarahscribbles has many fics worth reading but my current favorite is Dancing With the Devil (18+), it is a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy.

@silver-tongued-bby - I don't typically read AUs where Loki isn't an Asgardian god, but something about her fic Trouble (18+) drew me in. If you're looking for something different she has several AU fics to check out.

Do you have any personal favorite Loki x reader series you could recommend? I’ve been reading way too much recently and need fuel for the fire

Oooo this is a good question! I mean I feel like my fave multi-chaptered fics are the some most popular ones so you probably will have read them BUT I will give you them anyway anon just incase. Phew, settle in...

My all time two faves are "a job a million PRs would die for" by Lokislittlevalkarie on Ao3 and Frostbite by @maiden-of-asgard I re-read these like a billion times - ultimate comfort fics.

Another one of my faves is the devil inside by urses_minor on ao3 which is a modern au and not finished but when I tell you I think about this fic all the time, honestly crosses my mind once a day.

I really enjoyed foruneyti by evaldrynn on ao3 and I talked about this before but @tilltheendwilliwrite blessings of magic: the Norns goddess series is amazing, if you want a super long fic to get into id 1000% recommend. I also loved girl with the gold earring by LVE32 on ao3. @michelleleewise series' ie cold as ice are super addictive.

I really enjoyed the "to have and to hold" series by @immersed-in-mischief I used to wait daily for updates. Dancing with our hands tied by @michelleleahhh is amazing and I also think about it like every day. @geminigirl0298 the true course of love and all the kings men are delightful.

Also if you are a fan of smut, look no further than @shiningloki (get on your knees and pray to me changed me as a person).

My current read is A study in Suit by @lowkeyorloki and I'm kind of addicted although its also breaking my heart with where I'm up to rn...

I've probably forgotten some too honestly but im a sucker for a long Loki x reader fic especially if its a slow burn, you all know I'm a slow burn queen and I lap that shit up! Feel free to comment with your recommendations too!

not easily concurred by dropdeaddream & whatarefears — if you know me you know i am in no shape or form a steve girly but OH MY GOD THIS FIC!! for real probably one of the most beautiful things i’ve ever read ever???

under ether by lunik — i am 1000% in favour of tasertricks so this fic just absolutely fed me

wages and sin by sidrisa — loki smut that had me on the floor biting my knuckles

magnets, mirrors and misdirection by lunik — this not being finished is my thirteenth reason??? also this pairing is so out of the blue but so good???

in terms of ao3, i'm reading a couple of things i'm really enjoying right now. i just finished All That's Best of Dark and Bright by SithHappens, which was a really really great Bucky fic. and i finally got around to reading Branded by @wolveria which was, quite frankly, amazing.

and i am about to start Broken Crown by Michelleleahhh at the recommendation of my wonderful husband @tripleyeeet-deactivated20210811 who has been bullying me to read it literally every time we talk, since it has a lot of political intrigue and that's my kink so i'm very excited about that!

He expected Brynn to be deeply moved, hearing the depths of his brother’s devotion. Instead, she shot up from her chair in insult and hotly demanded, “What the hell did he expect you to do? Kidnap me? Lock up me in my room until he decided it was safe to come out?”

Thor shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

“…More or less.”

“Well, he’s an idiot,” she declared, seething. “And you’re delusional if you think that I won’t try to get to him on my own – and trying to do it on my own instead of you helping me means there’s a bigger chance of me getting hurt. So, either way, you’re going to end up breaking your promise.”

“You claim to care about Loki, and yet you would freely do the one thing that will destroy him should you fail,” Thor challenged, voice rising.

The sparks of indignation slowly faded from Brynn's eyes, revealing a grief so raw he could recall seeing such agony only once before – his mother’s eyes, the moment when had learned of Loki’s fall from the Bifrost.

“The only thing I have left to lose in this world is him,” she told him softly. Her voice was a rasp, but unafraid and resolute. “So, yeah – I’m going all in and I’m betting the house, because not trying to save him will destroy me.”

Cornered, Thor’s broad shoulders slowly sank in defeat.

Loki's half-hearted attempt at redemption careens wildly off-course when he encounters a young woman who was injured in a Chitauri blast that left her widowed, able to sense magic, and with no memory of the Battle of NY...or Loki. Post TDW, Loki/OFC, slow burn.

Ooooh I love this bc I get to scream about some favourites!!!

A Fairytale Beginning by @the-lady-amphitrite is number one! It’s part of a much bigger thing and I am never going to stop screaming about it and how everyone should read it!!! Amphi is working so damn hard on this beautiful fic and it needs more attention!

Until Dust by @snowflakesnsundry is another! I adore this fic more than I can say and I’ve once again fallen behind with it but 10/10 perfect fic that I cannot fault.

Man of the Month by @muddyorbsblr and @mochie85! another that I still have to finish but the vibes are absolutely there and I know it’s going to be amazing!

Hook or Crook by @give-me-a-moose! I binge read all the instalments of this series in like 2 days last year? Absolutely amazing and the reader is so fierce and wonderful and stupidly in love with Loki I ADORE IT.

Also Broken Crown and Dancing with our hands tied by @michelleleahhh. Two of the best Loki fics I have ever read! You should go and check them out!!
