Oh whats my favorite genre of story telling?

Hi my name is main character and I befriend a dead/imaginary person who's had a really shitty life but its all good I still appreciate them. Well eventually they're going to have to let me go and it's going to be devastating as shit because we've grown really close but they realize that being friends with a dead/imaginary person is only going to hinder my growth even though they helped me become a better person. So with love in their hearts they let me go as I do for them and in a bittersweet melancholy they pass on and I move on with my life never forgetting the memories we share because what we had was beautiful and perfect and special.

The timeline of Missing Halloween has always bothered me. Because the flashback scene makes it seem like they just met and like she was already a ghost at that point since her candy bucket was full of cobwebs and she got the you found me candy wrapper.

This means that there's a minimum of one year since she died and the story starts. But that also doesnt make sense. If she had died the day they first met there's no way that all the kids wouldn't have been immidiently rounded up by their parents. You can see from when they're sitting on top of the hill that they're in a small town, and all the parents would of had to know that there was a kid missing.

It's possible she died after or before halloween since the missing person photo, which would most likely be the most recent photo, didnt necessarily have to be from Halloween it could just be from when she got her headband. It's not shown that she had the headband on or the candy bucket with her, only that she had the candy wrapper. But that doesn't change that year minimum.

The reason this bothers me is the fact her body is still decaying. She has skin and hair and has maggots on her. If a year passed she'd be bones.

It doesn't make sense.

She could of been alive during their first meeting. She grabbed the bucket without cleaning it and left alone do to a negitive home situation. She then meets the boy. His mother never sees her so when she sees him greeting nothing the next year she gets concerned.

While the art style is simple the final shots of the corpse are pretty detailed. It shows that the body is in active decay, meaning it's only been about a week.

So she meets him that first Halloween, but she lives outside of the town so she doesnt see him again. Let's say they also agree to meet up since he waits for her the next year. At some point almost a year later she leaves home without her parents realizing for one reason or another. She finds a hole in the fence around the woods and goes through. She either doesnt notice or gets spooked into a bear trap next to the tree. She cant escape do either to the pain or the trap being anchored down.

She then either pulls out a candy and you get the heart wrenching sadness that is the message "you found me" as she is bleeding out and definitly wishing for someone to help, or she pulls out the wrapper that she kept from the boy when she met him the year prior that she kept because it was special to her. And I dont know which version of you found me is worse. Considering a week later she would not miss halloween and he really would find her.
