Hi, this is my first post and I write fanfiction and scenarios, really just anything that comes to my mind. Requests are always welcome! I'll set up rules later and what I'm okay with writing, as well as what fandoms I'll write for. Love ya'll and hope you enjoy!

Older Brother Ajax cares about you a lot and only wants the best for you. So seeing someone else taking care of you, well he takes it as them taking his place as your protector

Ever since you were young he's always been taking you with him on adventures and showing you how to fight to protect yourself, but even so he's always been with you to make sure your safe

He sure doesn't trust anyone else to make sure your safe

Even though he's taught you how to fight, he doesn't let you know about his affiliation with the fatui, he never wants you to lose your light or your child-hood wonder

You love your brother but sometimes he can be a little too overprotective, so of course you choose to hide it from him that you have an s/o because knowing Ajax he's not going to give them a chance

However as much as you might try to hide it (and you try your hardest trust me) Ajax knows you too well. He's your older brother after all he can tell when you're hiding something from him

He doesn't make it obvious at first, he just writes it off as you just acting a little weird, but eventually he decides that after you've been disappearing for long amounts of time and canceling on him when you would usually jump at the chance to spend time with him, especially since he's been off in Liyue for quite awhile, he gets suspicious

He follows you one day when you leave the house all dressed up and seem happier than a clam

Ajax has no problem with that, he wants you to have everything this world can offer and seeing you happy brings back that spark he lost to the abyss, but why were you so happy for seemingly no reason?

Today wasn't any special occasion that he can remember

So he carefully follows behind you making sure that you don't notice him trailing you

Eventually you stop at some restaurant

He is SO confused poor boy doesn't understand why you would want to go get food from a restaurant all alone (you hadn't mentioned going out with friends?) especially when he made a point to tell you he was cooking this morning (no one can change my opinion his cooking is literally the best)

So when he sees you sit down at a table and seem to be waiting for someone, he decides to get a table close to you, not close enough for you to see him, but close enough for him to hear you

Anyways it had been about five minutes and you had ordered your drink and he was getting worried and had just about had enough of sitting watching you, but just as he was about to get up and go over to you and ask if you were okay and if you were upset, instead of at home

This boy honestly thinks he did something wrong for you to have not been spending as much time with him, it never occurs to him that you could be seeing someone, your his wonderful younger sibling who looks up to and adores him, and all his stories and skills that he teaches you

Honestly he basically raised you and your siblings with how much he loves you all, he always makes you feel safe and happy

Anyways back to your s/o, they they showed up just before Ajax could go over to you, and low and behold before he could even think who they were and why they were showing up with you for breakfast, they go and kiss you!🤯

Ajax exe. has stopped working. Who in the HELL has the nerve to kiss his sibling! Well he's about to find out. 9. if your OC were to imagine their idyllic life (realistically or otherwise), what would it be like?

this is gonna sound very "hallmark movie-y" but as an example, his perfect life would be the kind of life where you trudge through blankets of crisp white snow with your soulmate, obviously with hot chocolates in hand while you look at all the christmas lights in your tiny hometown that your soulmate is visiting for the first time; then you go to your giant wholesome family christmas party afterwards and everything's cozy and warm and tinged with nostalgia 🥺

15. what is a common misconception about your OC?

maybe that he could never do anything hurtful! i mean, he is a very sweet and wholesome individual and you would be right to assume he's largely an upstanding person with no ill-intent towards others, but he is not perfect. like anyone, he has definitely said and done things that are cold or mean or just plain ill-advised.

hint hint maybe you get to see an example of this in a story flashback

22. what is some advice or guidance they received that had a big impact on their life or outlook? was it a positive or negative impact?

first of all, i think one of the biggest recent pieces of advice he's received was margot (our girl!!) reminding him that every self-injurous thought or action is repetition of what his mother did to him.

i don't think it's like he DIDN'T know that was the case, it's more that he wasn't willing to really consider it because doing so would make him have to legitimately confront the harm he's done to himself, which is not easy, especially when he feels immense regret and shame over his choices.

but he does choose to work with her advice, so in the future, that has a huge impact! sharing more is a spoiler (sorry) BUT trust me, it will be good and positive for him 🤍

Summary: Being a professional boyfriend on SVTHub is great - all Vernon has to do is respond to a few texts, send out a couple selfies, do a stream every now and then, and he makes enough to cover tuition. Things get a little tricky when he finds himself wishing he actually was your boyfriend.

Vernon sighs as he opens up SVTHub, knowing he has at least three messages that ask, “Would you still love me if I was a worm?”

His answer will, of course, be “Yes and I would make you a cute little worm house in a jar and take you with me everywhere,” when he really wants to say, ”No I wouldn’t, because I don't know you at all and worms have a very short life expectancy.”

But this is the life he’s created for himself; getting paid to act like a boyfriend comes with answering cliche boyfriend questions. He’s scrolling through messages, answering good morning and goodnight texts with an appropriate selfie, when one message catches his eye, or actually, wow, 5 messages, all from one person.

Vernon tilts his head, considering how to answer. It’s a bit weird that you sought out a pretend boyfriend to tell these things to but he can’t say the messages aren’t more entertaining than the usual ones. And, honestly, snails are effervescent.

Vernon answers some messages from other users; badbitchesrus is having friend group drama again and he’s dying to tell her, “you’re the problem,” but a boyfriend wouldn’t say that so he just agrees, saying, “you’re so right, Jen did copy ur fit last night but u did it better baby.” He replies to a few selfies with paragraphs of fire and heart eye emojis, and sends out a couple ‘hope ur day gets better babygirl’s.

Clicking out of the app, Vernon tries to force himself to focus on studying. He’s got a music theory quiz this week and a sound design exam next week and he’s not prepared for either. His fingers tap out a rhythm on his knee as he runs over scales in his head, swearing to himself after missing the last sharp in B major for the fourth time. He’s about to pull out his keyboard for manual practice when his phone dings with a message, the tone telling him it's SVTHub. His head hits the back of his chair, hoping beyond hope it’s not another worm message, and he smiles in surprise when he sees it’s from you.

His phone goes off again, another thought from you.

Happy to be distracted, Vernon settles in to ask you some questions and hopefully get some movie recommendations.

Before Vernon can respond, he gets another message, from bbygrill99 this time. She’s requesting an ab pic, her third this week, and he wonders why she’s so obsessed with his abs when his ass is great too, but complies nonetheless. Lifting his shirt, he tenses his abdominals and tilts his phone to get the perfect angle, his bottom lip just barely in frame and his gray sweats sitting low on his hips. He’s been trying to drink more water because apparently you need it to survive, so his abs aren’t as defined as usual and he hopes she doesn’t say anything. He sends the picture out with a kiss emoji and saves it to his folder of lewds, hoping he’ll be able to reuse it.

He’s very intrigued by the idea of threats to increase productivity, and asks you more questions. This turns out to be counterproductive as it leads to a whole conversation that makes him laugh all the way through, and consequently, he doesn’t get any more work done.

It’s almost time for his weekly goodnight stream, and Vernon’s still thinking about your last conversation. You’d lured him into a debate about living as a pigeon or living with pigeons, and he still wasn’t sure who’d won. You hadn’t sent him any new thoughts today, and even though you’d just become a subscriber last week, he’s missing you for some reason. He really enjoyed the randomness of your brain, and hearing what was going on in there throughout the day. It was a nice break from pretending to be the perfect boyfriend, and he got to respond like he wanted, not like he thought he should.

Starting the stream, he settles into bed and begins telling his patrons about his day, pausing at certain moments to let them respond to him. On their screens, it just looks like a personal facetime, and they get to pretend he’s talking to them and them alone. He tries not to frown when he realizes you haven’t joined, and hopes you will soon; you were the one person he actually wanted to say goodnight to.

You don’t join, and Vernon goes to bed sad and confused. Why were you paying for this if you weren’t going to use your membership to the fullest? His subscribers loved the introduction of goodnight streams, some are even asking for good morning streams too. You also hadn’t asked him for any pictures yet, even though everyone was allowed three per day. Maybe you just hadn’t read the membership benefits when you joined and didn’t know? He should probably ask, right? Just to be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

Vernon gasps, staring down at his phone in awe.

He’s spinning in his desk chair, zoning out a little, when his eyes hit the open sound design program on his desktop.

Vernon’s mouth stretches in a smile, his kicking feet sending him on a giddy spin in his chair. Putting his phone on Do Not Disturb, he forces himself to focus.

Vernon is sitting in his Audio Mastering Techniques class when you text him. He was already struggling to focus, fingers drumming on the table and leg bouncing under it, his neighbor sending a glare over every few minutes. He tries his best not to check, but you'd promised him your first thought and he wants to see what it is!

Glancing around surreptitiously, Vernon opens SVTHub with his phone under the table. You'd never sent him an explicit message before but there's a first time for everything (Vernon hopes).

Vernon looks up organic chemistry practice problems but sees ‘Stereospecificity in Addition Reactions’ and ‘Electrophilic Addition Reactions to Conjugated Dienes’ and immediately begins shaking his head, exiting out of the browser and texting you again.

Vernon’s heart starts racing as he reads your text. You want to call him. You want to speak words and you want him to listen and respond and then you’ll respond to his words.

Vernon’s sitting at his desk, spinning around as the phone rings and rain pangs against the window.

You tell him more about the exam and he just listens, absorbing your voice and tone and cadence. He wants to record you, wishes he could listen to you all the time, your voice is so entrancing.

“Did you have your midterm yet?” You ask sweetly, sounding concerned.

This startles Vernon out of his trance and he has to ask himself if he has taken his midterm yet today, and sighs in relief when he realizes he has a few hours left to go.

“Nah, it’s not till later so i’m just studying and vibing.”

Vernon chats more with you, trying to imagine what you look like and wishing patrons had a profile picture like he does, before he realizes it’s been an hour and he should get focused. Promising to call you after his exam and wishing he could just take you with him in his pocket, he hangs up.

Vernon does call you after his exam, and he calls you the next day too, and the next. It’s easier than ever for him to respond to messages, romantic words flowing and streams getting more and more popular. He just pretends he’s talking to you and it always works. You haven’t joined one of his streams yet but he’s holding out hope, and secretly wishing that you’d request a private videocall. He’s getting ready for his bedtime stream when he starts thinking about your last phone call, just a few hours ago. There's silence for a few beats; Vernon feels himself teetering on the cliff again as he waits for your response.

Vernon thinks that if he jumped out of his window right now, he just might fly. He won't because he's not trying to die now that you're letting him be your boyfriend, but the feeling is there.

"Yes! I do like you, I like you a lot. I like you so much. Please date me." He knows he's practically begging at this point, but he doesn't care. Vernon's willing to beg, on his knees if he needs to, if it means he can be your boyfriend for real.

"Okay! Okay," you giggle, a bit muffled as if you're covering your mouth. "I'll date you if you date me?"

Vernon can't contain his grin, spinning in circles around his room even though he's already dizzy.

Vernon squints, sitting in his 9 am and staring down at the purple pen in his hand, the one he’d found sitting on the desk when he came in.

Staring back at him, your eyes shoot open in disbelief, before landing on your pen and water bottle in his hands. You squeal, bouncing in your shoes and throwing your arms around his neck. He breathes you in, reeling at the weight of your body against his, and you pull back before he can return your embrace. Vernon misses you instantly but he knows you have to go be a genius so, handing you the water and pen, he accepts a kiss on the cheek and watches you leave.

A thorough exploration of "Time To Smile".

For context -- over a month ago, this YouTube channel called "Time To Smile" popped up, posting those spammy Facebook style positivity videos that are just viral clips with voiceovers on them. The weird thing about this channel is that all the voiceovers, for a while, were done by Jschlatt. (Some people assume that this was AI TTS - and the acronym of Time To Smile is... well I feel like it's fairly obvious).

I find it heavily unlikely that these videos are actually TTS, though. Here's a list, with examples, of each person featured on the channel (more than just Schlatt have appeared since the first few weeks of posting, though he remains the primary narrator). Pick whoever you're most familiar with, or SwaggerSouls if you're not particularly familiar with any of them. You'll notice that while the content of what they're saying is particularly generic, it's far too natural to be a text-to-speech generator.

As to not clog things, I'm putting the rest of this post under a read more link :)

There's lots of aspects of this channel that point to it being more of an obscure bit than an AI text-to-speech spam channel. From the subtitles, which have the modern TommyInnit style bounce, the high focus on primates in the channel's earlier uploads (less so now, but still notable. Perhaps a reference to Schlatt's obession with monkeys), and the fact that multiple YouTubers (who are roughly in Schlatt's orbit) have leant their voices for this project.

The profile picture also gives off a deeply unsettling vibe, being an apple 3D emoji avatar thing on a sky with clouds, and a neon green ring around it. (Gonna mention here that there's an account on TikTok, @/timetosmile.tr, that reposts their videos. It's not an official account, which is obvious when you look at the profile picture).

They also respond to comments sometimes. Like This.

Every single video uses the same song as background music - First Step by Hans Zimmer. And the exact same snippet of it as well.

At some point, every video started to end with things like "subscribe if you think pigs are like people!" or "subscribe if you think Harpo deserves the world!", or just "Subscribe!". Eventually, the videos started to end with just "subscribe if you think-", without allowing the narrator to finish their sentence.

In the community tab, they often post polls (a tactic of YouTube channels to farm engagement, since you get channel posts on the mobile homepage from channels you've only watched once or twice... it's this whole thing.)

That is the only poll they post, over and over, occasionally interspersed with text posts that say "What made you smile today, Smilers?". More recently, the posts have gotten a tad sadder.

So you might be wondering, why?

I speculate a number of things:

It's a weird obscure parody Schlatt came up with that's he's roping his friends into for shits and giggles

It's an experiment to see if stupid "viral" content can really get 10M subscribers purely through YouTube shorts, to demonstrate how vapid and regressive the website's algorithm is (Schlatt is very vocal about the way YouTube is run in their Twitter replies)

It's a commentary on the mindless cycle of reaction content that Schlatt and a lot of his collegues have found themselves in. Commentating over others' content, but adding basically nothing to it -- but it pays the bills. It's heartless, lacks effort and passion, and yet if it stops, the views tank, and the channel fades to obscurity. It wears you down, constantly churning out content. Always content. Slop. Something so substanceless that huge quantaties of it exist and yet those who consume it are always hungry for more, constantly, unendingly, without slowing the pace or allowing time to digest or process any of it. Always starving, always being given more but never being satisfied. It's a nightmare for everyone, nobody is winning and yet the wheel keeps turning.

All of the above.

So, yeah. Jschlatt viral slop channel. Love it.

Hey, have you seen that if you zoom out on the welcome home website (besides in the guestbook homepage for some reason), you can see eyes on the sides? I mean, I know Wally is "watching" you through the website already from previously discovered clues and such, but this... YEAH. We are being watched. (though he does say he can't see you in other parts of the website... weird.)

i did see that! it's in my initial observations section for this update :> i try make a point of zooming out on every page, because that's how i first found that spot of black underneath/behind home on the neighborhood map (i mean, i actually i found it because i tried to look at it on mobile and it was so busted that it was the first thing i saw, BUT zooming out on desktop was another way to find it) so i was very happy to see these.

maybe the eyes are meant to represent more how wally is looking for us rather than looking at us, or to emphasize that looking at us from the website/wherever he is is all he can really do - after all, there are still obviously some barriers in this method of communication he's set up. i'm thinking of that one guestbook signature where someone left a bunch of food emojis as a gift/snack for wally and co., and the filename for wally's response was "i can't each them, i'm sorry." a lot of people seem to think he was referring to the neighbors, but it feels a lot more likely To Me that he was talking about the food.

“Wait, you’re telling me that you have moving pictures on here? And that there are different versions of moving pictures?” Toad said. Cheek squished against the smooth surface of the television screen. Giving it a suspicions look over as if the brother’s were trying to pull a prank on him.

Luigi carefully pulled Toad away from it slowly, offering a sheepish smile. “Yes, it does. But I would recommend not having your face so close to it. It’ll hurt your eyes.”

“Also, that’s not why we’re up here.” Mario continued, turning both the tv and the game station on. Smirking at Toad’s wide eyes of fascination. “You said you were curious about our games.”

Toad let out an excited squeal as he was handed over a controller. “Wait, is this that video game thingy you were talking about!?”

“Very much.”

Luigi laid across Mario’s bed as he watched his brother and Toad, who were sitting on the floor, start their first game. The first one the brothers had ever gotten.

“Wait…this Jumpman looks a little like you Mario.” Toad commented.

“What? No, I don’t look anything like him!” Mario rolled his eyes, “You’re being weird again.

“I’m serious! Luigi, you see it right?”

Luigi squinted his eyes on the screen before shaking his head. “Nope, I don’t.”

“Are you saying because he’s dressed in red and jumps, he’s me?” Mario laughed softly.

Toad huffed as he went back to focusing on the screen. A few beats of silence passed before he let out a small, “Maybe.”

The twins couldn’t help but laugh.

announcement/update/idk what this is i guess

so i took my name out of my bio back in like january and i felt a little weird doing mutual tags and not having something to offer back.

side note: mutual tags are a whole other nightmare rn bc my tumblr doesn’t remember 90% of them and i’m primarily a tumblr web girlie who doesn’t have emoji access! originally i said i was just going to replace the ones forgotten with the tag “lovely mutuals” but i really want to keep the tags so i may see what i can do - stay tuned on that front!

hii sweetest! yes, of course I can give you some pointers. first of all, welcome to tumblr authorhood!! may you receive many comments and find infinite motivation~

for me, I suppose I’m “self-taught”? but isn’t everyone on this app? lol. actually, I’ve been sharing fic on tumblr for… idk, 8 years on and off ?? omg that’s wild. but yeah, I’ve definitely learned some stuff along the way., here are my key takeaways:

(general) promote interaction:

there’s a couple things I do to try to improve the number of notes I receive on my posts, but there’s also a few things I try my best to do in order to improve my readers’ experience. first, I use tags on every post I publish. I have a tag for asks, for my fics, for my fic recs, etc. This makes it easier for a potential follower to go through with following you even if they don’t like 100% of your content, bc they can always blacklist the tag and they won’t have to see any of those posts. second, use links so that your readers can easily look through your stuff. a masterlist is KEY here as it’s the gateway for all your fics, but also, general navigation, or even linking your masterlist at the end of your fics can be beneficial too. I find it’s also really important to have links in your bio. this makes it way more approachable for any followers and it’s honestly nice to have for your own purposes as well. the only thing about that is, you have to make the links for your bio on the computer version of tumblr when you’re editing your blog. it cannot be mobile, something about it just won’t work. i can go into further detail on how to get those bio links but tbh i just looked it up on google 5yrs ago and it’s stayed the same since then lol~

theme:

obviously my blog doesnt have a “theme” theme when you visit it on computer, but i mean theme as in, all your navigation/general/fic posts are cohesive and they look like they belong on the same blog. you can achieve this by using the same fonts, text symbols (or emojis…. i guess. personally, side eye…), or dividers.

fonts:

so beyond the 3 fonts tumblr has in its posting formatting, i personally like to use copy paste fonts. they still work with embedding links and stuff as well. i like to use a font generator, where you type in whatever you’d like and it converts it for you. then you can just copy & paste.

text symbols:

these are a good for borders and dividers, or just generally spicing up your bio/navigation. i usually google “text symbols copy paste”, and browse through the results.

dividers:

when you’d like to use a photo divider on your blog, make sure it is a very skinny PNG file. PNG means it has a transparent background, so it will be more cohesive for your readers on regular white posts and also dark mode posts. I actually designed my own PNG divider (Azriel’s siphon of course hehe) on my iPad on ProCreate, but I know there’s a lot of blogs that make them and share them, which you can use so long as you give proper credits. that’s another thing that’s important— always make sure to credit others if you’re using work that isn’t yours!

most importantly, I recommend always TESTING these methods!! make sure to double check that all your links work, that the symbol you choose doesn’t become an emoji when you paste, that the font is all set. there’s a lot of trial and error involved in making your blog just right :) hope this helps & good luck anon!!

Hi there! 😊 The first and easiest way to brighten up your posts is to change the color of your text. I usually use mobile, so you just highlight the text you want and it will bring up different color options. I believe the process is pretty similar on the desktop version. Fun and colorful emojis help too!

So you can make it look like this! ❤️🧡💚💙💜🩷

Another way I make my posts look cuter and more colorful is using fun dividers. They're just images/gifs, so they're really easy to add to your post and you can just drag them to move them into the correct spot if they end up in a weird placement. You can search for dividers through tumblr (I usually just put "dividers" in the search bar but you could add cute or colorful to the search to narrow it down). Deviantart is another good place to look for dividers, or just Google if you have the patience to scroll through a lot of useless images. There are lots of really cute ones to be found if you take the time to look.

DNI banners can also add some color and also just images you can add to your post easily. I keep a folder of dividers and banners on my phone so I have a bunch of different ones ready for when I make a post. These are easily found on tumblr, but they're not that hard to make if you want to create your own DNI banners. I can make a tutorial on that in another post if anyone is interested.

So I had a kinda weird week

My parents decided to do a vacation week in my college town while I had lectures and it’s been kinda… uuuuh

I also had migraine two days this week (one actually today, it always gets better after sleep, food and some hefty ibuprofen) and my knees decided to act up

Consequently I actually used my walking cane on campus yesterday after lectures and today in front of people who know me 🫣 [emoji hiding behind hands]

Like, I got my cane early this year and since the semester break I started to actually carry it in my backpack everyday (I don’t need the space for my laptop this semester) but I’m still anxious and shy about using my cane on campus

I used to for my weekly shopping trips. Actually, I even made a surprised pikachu on the topic because “if I’m carrying my cane around anyway, I might as well use it even if my knees aren’t “that bad” because I don’t need to be in pain to use my mobility aid” was such a galaxy brain moment for me!

But it’s different to use my mobility aid in front of people who know me and I’m still worried someone will confront me and ask questions and then I’ll get called a faker because no doctor ever actually told me to get a mobility aid (I live in a country with mandatory health insurance and should actually go to the doctors about getting checked until they find what the fresh hell is up with my joints)

But, uuuuhh, you wanted a story of the day and here’s some anxiety vent 😬 [grimace emoji]

Oof yeah using mobility aid scary.

I live in America so it gets kind of frustrating when I say like “my job took the stools away because we ‘sit too much’ and now I have to stand to use the computer desk and it sucks as someone with a chronic pain condition” to have people out of the US be like ISNT THAT ILLEGAL or something because it’s like no actually most jobs force you to stand for hours on end, meanwhile other people are like “can’t you just get a doctor’s note that says you need to sit because you have chronic pain issues” and to be like “that’s such a slippery slope what if they start denying me hours or something” which considering my old manger also had chronic pain issues and worked full time so maybe not but I feel like people outside of the US don’t realize how fucked you can be playing games with being disabled in the US.

Being called a faker if I ever used a mobility aid would be the least of my concerns, I would be worried it would hurt my chances of getting jobs, hours, housing by myself, etc.

I DO wish that when I was having a bad day a cane would help but unfortunately both of my legs hurt equally so I would need something like a rollator or a wheelchair. My best friend offered to mail me a rollator (bless her) but I said no I didn’t want her to have to go through the hassle.

I’m lucky that I’m on meds that negate my chronic pain but I forgot to take them last night and I woke up in debilitating pain.

The idea of having a cool looking mobility aid is fun though! But hell yeah doesn’t hurt to carry it around with you. Beat the shit out of people with it. Defense weapon if needed.

Oof about your parents vacationing in your college town.

I’m sorry about your migraines, I hope that they go away soon.
