Note

A while ago you shared a post about "kids on their damn phones" being a reflection of the behavior kids see modeled by their parents. So my question is, what did you see modeled by your own parents? Were they readers? Did they spend time outdoors? Did they pursue hobbies? I'm curious.

My dad likes to watch tv and movies. When we were at his house, movie nights were what we did as a family. He's also somewhat active. Before he moved a few years ago, his house was on the water and he would go kayaking a lot. Now he rides his bike. I would say his biggest hobbies are watching movies or golf.

My mom is very active. She used to bike ride and I remember she rode in the MS150 when I was a kid. She also used to jog every morning. She still works out now, but mostly she just goes to the gym. Although I don't remember seeing her doing it, I know she used to knit and needlepoint because she still has her old projects. Her favorite hobby is sailing. She and her boyfriend go sailing almost every weekend if the weather is good.

The 2021 MS 150

After skipping 2020, the MS 150 was back on this year albiet in a dramatically different format. The most significant change was that it was not a 150 mile route from Proctor, MN to White Bear Lake, MN. Instead it was a 75 mile loop starting and ending in Blaine, MN. So on Saturday I had my MS150 bike ride! I'm sorry I don't have more pictures but I was mostly trying to not cry from the pain on my sit bones because I had only been on a bike one other time this year. The ride took me about 2 hours to complete and I rode 20 miles, about 15 minutes longer than last year but that's okay since I wasn't really trying to go fast that day. The weather was cold in the morning and I only really started warming up by the time I got back. Luckily no crashes or any mechanical issues with my bike since I rode by myself. Everyone else on my team rode a different path. It was a very good weekend but I'm definitely tired and going to take a few rest days before I start going to the gym again. @gerinurse
