mujin headcanons ?? or just samurai champloo headcanons in general,,
you have seriously no idea the kind of beast you have trifled with asking me this. most of these are specific and kinda complicated because im insane and put deep thought into everything abt samcham but some are just simple and silly. Lets begin
OK SO. i have deep reasoning for almost any of my headcanons because im a stickler for abiding by canon as much as i possibly can no matter how ridiculous the headcanon is. headcanons for ME personally esp with aus and stuff are like "how would this character act in this fucked up situation" rather than coming up with fanon bullshit based on absolutely nothing which just strips characters of their bare essentials which is stupid so yeah. im gonna get the big ones out of the way then get smaller as i go
-i use they/she/he for jin. my hc for their gender and sexuality is kinda hard to describe and idek if theres a label for it but i just phrase it as any gender and no gender at the same time. i think jin doesnt personally view their gender as anything specific and presents mostly neutrally and people just perceive them for what they choose to see. women like seeing jin as a handsome androgynous woman (like a bifauxnen). men like seeing jin as a beautiful man. vice versa. jin has no attachment to such things they just go with the flow and presentation doesnt mean anything profound for them personally other than like. an accessory or something???? idk. i like to see shino and jin as nblw because their story reminds me of something tragic lesbians would do. but tdlr no matter what gender you are being into jin is gay inherently
-jin is a virgo, fuu is a libra, and mugen is a scorpio. common traits for virgos include loyalty, practicality, overly critical of self and others, dislikes rudeness and asking for help. they can be closed off and can be misunderstood by others due to this, but they have deep senses of humanity. traits for libras include social, gracious, desire for companionship, in a constant chase for justice and equality, a dislike for comformity and loudmouths. traits for scorpios include resourcefulness, passion, assertiveness, fearless, a dislike for dishonesty, small talk, superficiality. i originally based the specific dates (sept 4th for jin, oct 9th for fuu, and nov 3rd for mugen) based on the number of diamonds in jins mon, the number of letters in 'sunflower' for fuu (sunflower season ends in october!), and the 3 corners of the triangle on the back of mugens happi. EVERYTHING IS INTENTIONAL!!!!!
-jin is actually left handed, but such a thing is forbidden for samurai, so jin had to force themself to use their right. you wouldnt know it at first glance but if you saw jins fancy kanji caligraphy using their left hand compared to their uniformed and almost robotically perfect handwriting with their right youd be able to tell what theyre truly most comfortable with
-mugen and jin have to bicker about literally everything. like jin will say something and mugen sometimes will actually agree but he’ll say something purposefully contrarian and stupid just to get on jins nerves. it takes hard work to get an actual rise out of them but sometimes just the blank stare or the raised eyebrow is enough to make mugen cackle
-making clean kills is practiced for jin because the feeling of sticky blood and the stench makes them antsy. the night that they stumbled out into the dark after accidentally killing enshirou, itd been everywhere. soaking their clothes, under their nails, on their lips, in their eyelashes and hair. theyd thrown up and wailed hysterically like a wounded animal and then collapsed into an ice cold river to claw it off in panic and nearly drowned from the force of the river waves and the shock of the whole situation and then they just passed out on the bank from exhaustion and didnt wake up for 15 hours
-after the finale, mugen recovers (somehow) from his injuries after 2 weeks. however, this did not account for the chronic pain that sticks with him and worsens in the cold and rain. hed find later that jin, his perfect bird of a feather, gets debilitating migraines and back pain in the cold and rain. they can be in bed and in pain together
-jin doesnt force their meticulous and traditional routines onto mugen so theyll slink out of bed at the ass crack of dawn to do their weird praying and katas and meditation and mugen will sleep until past noon and he'll always complain about them letting him sleep the day away and theyll always just hum in response
-jin can NOT cook for shit but id like to think they work to improve as a way of remembering shino fondly. before meeting her they could brew a mean ass cup of tea and steamed rice. but that was literally it. but now they can make some simple things like clear mushroom soup and dumplings and they intend on expanding
-mugen is a closeted fine arts snob. he thought the shit was flowery and boring before but jin reads their favorite poems and epics to him and theyve furthered his education where sensei bundai left off so they do a lot of poetry writing as exercises. mugen likes haikus a lot. and he likes those weird noh theaters that jin loves. especially the vile ones with the drama and violence and cheating and death and betrayal. jin forces him to go to the romance ones too its just against his will those times
-jin will not let him hit until he has bathed. the first time he propositioned them they threw him in a huge hot bath like an animal and combed through every matted knot in his hair, scrubbed his back and behind his ears, carved the dirt out from under his yellow fingernails with a small knife, forced a wad of mint leaves in his mouth. jin plucks their eyebrows so maybe theyre kind of over the top about it but then mugen considers rinsing himself off in river water bathing so maybe theyre being perfectly reasonable
-they tell each other scar stories and random events that happened before they met each other. theres a lot of observing without words that they both do to get to know each other but they also do a lot of talking. it always happens at night when theyre both kind of tipsy on sake or wine because thats the only time jin feels loosened up enough to not clam up over memories

Mujin let out a frustrated sigh because he still couldn't manage to remove the wrapper from his candy and he turned to you with puppy eyes. "Are you a baby?" you mocked as you took the candy from him and opened it, but instead of returning it to him, you put it in your own mouth. "Hey that's mine!" he whined and he snatched the lollipop from your mouth. You raised an eyebrow at him and said "I'd give that back if I were you," but Mujin didn't care. He just put the lollipop back into his own mouth and then started running, giggling happily when you began to chase him.
JAHAN
Jahan is much more reserved and might sometimes struggle to put his love for you into words
that being said, he is still a passionate and sensitive person
he is a little more distant when you're in public, but at home (where he feels comfortable and relaxed) he constantly hovers around you and holds you in his embrace
and those few times when he does explicitly say things like "you're cute" or "I love you", he does it with that very deep voice of his
love language: gift giving, quality time and acts of service
Jahan takes you on a lot of dates - going to a cafe for some coffee, having dinner at a restaurant, visiting the cinema together (secretly holding hands during the movie), and going shopping together
even though you keep telling him to stop paying for everything and that you can also pay for the clothes you buy, he always offers to buy things for you
he is very caring too - he notices it right away when you're not feeling your best
when that happens, he usually doesn't act much different to you directly, but he will do little things for you - things like doing random chores, surprising you with dinner or going to the store to buy your favorite snacks for you
scenario: "Come on!" Jahan yelled in frustration. The two of you had decided to go to the fair together and for the past 15 minutes you had been sticking around the claw machine. There was a teddy bear in it and you had joked that it looked just like Jahan. However, he was not joking when he told you he'd catch it for you no matter what. 15 minutes and 20 bucks later, he still didn't win anything. "Just one more try..." he murmured angrily, after which he failed again. Suddenly he grabbed your hand and pulled you along with him, into a toy store. He took you to the stuffed animals and looked at the different teddy bears. "Which one do you want? I'll buy it for you."

um here’s just a few off the top of my head eeee
-post-disorder diaries, Jin reads to Mugen a lot. He's not even sure if Mugen's listening at first, he just starts reading aloud more or less. Mugen tries not to be obvious with the fact he’s listening until something happens and Mugen references the text Jin read. I think Jin would generally lean more towards poetry but he starts to look for things he thinks Mugen would like after a while.
-I think in a modern au Jin writes his name with its kanji, as is pretty common, but Mugen writes his in katakana ‘because it looks cool’ (also his name kanji has so many strokes and he ain't got time for all that)
-Jin’s awful at cooking, as we know, but I think Mugen just assumes he’d be good at it (“thank god you can cook because I can’t” “...”)
-autism be damned my boy can't work a grill for shit
-^^Mugen can actually cook he just doesn’t want to
-Instead of rings, Jin pierces an ear and Mugen gives him one of his earrings. I don’t think either of them would like having stuff on their hands. (headcanon brought to you by Zoro One Piece)

❥ Mujin playing Animal Crossing
(This mini moodboard is made by me; I don’t own any of the pics.)
I'm coming back with another headcanon today. This time, I decided to make something that doesn't involve the reader as much as the previous ones. I had this random thought about our cute Mujin playing Animal Crossing and I had the need to turn it into a whole headcanon. So, without further ado, let's begin!
He squeals A LOT when he plays videogames but with Animal Crossing... Oh, it just gets worse.
He loves to play mostly before going to sleep, feeling all cozy in his bed, because it gives him peace. He also tries to play whenever he's stressed or feeling overwhelmed, it never fails to relax him.
He drops the DS/Switch onto his lap whenever a character says something cute, he also shakes his fists in excitement for a couple of seconds. Then he goes back to play as if nothing happened.
He sulks and pouts when a villager he likes says something about moving. "Why would you wanna go? :("
He squeals in excitement when he receives a gift, but will stick his tongue out at the character if he doesn't like it.
He LOVES to give the villagers lots of gifts. He actually has a big number of villager photos because they all seem to like him back, "I just want to be friends with everyone and make them feel loved :3"
What about shaking trees??
a) he does the happy-fist thing every time the tree drops bells or furniture
b) does cute annoyed noises every single time he gets nothing
c) screams, like, LITERALLY DOLPHIN-SCREAMS, when the bees start to chase after him. He will even throw his feet at the air in a tantrum, "WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME??"
The first time he came back to pick up the honey comb he waited for five full minutes in case the bees would appear again.
If he's at home and someone knocks at the door, he will tilt his head in that cute anime way until the visitor shows themself, then he will debate between letting them stay or "BUT MY HOUSE IS A MESS!"
He stops playing after fishing 5 sea basses in a row. He saves the game, turns it off and puts it away. He stays silent with crossed arms for a while, but if someone dares to approach him... He will start to complain and whine a lot about that "annoying attention-seeking ocean creature".
Imagine going back home/visiting the dorms after a long day and being welcomed by a really happy and smiley Mujin, running up to you for a warm hug with shiny eyes . "Well... This character randomly moved in... The one I've been wanting to get for a while! :)"
He finds Isabelle so cute because she reminds him of Pompompurin :) I can see him putting their plushies together as if they are holding hands 🥺
Speaking of which, he LOVES the sanrio themed amiibo cards. His favorite is the Marty one, of course, but sometimes he goes back to reality. "Why is he a bear? He's really cute but he should have been a puppy..." he will keep thinking about it for a really long time, even more than he should, you can almost see the math meme all around him as if he was questioning life itself.
Needless to say, there's Pompompurin furniture all over his house/island :D but somehow he made it work out and doesn't look chaotic or random at all.
The village/island name is something random but cute, even the flag he spent hours making looks adorable.
I can imagine him dolphin-screaming every time he sees a tarantula/scorpion and panicking because he suddenly forgets how to play.
The catchphrases and all that stuff... Well, let's just say they are kinda weird.
He tried to make main characters that look like you and the other members :')
He has a cherry blossom themed room!!
He feels peaceful during cherry blossom season, it makes him feel as if he's on his own kingdom.
He changes his haircolor from time to time, mostly to pink (you know, cherry-blossom-king things).
He has a love-hate relationship with Tom Nook, "he looks sus, I can never figure out what he's thinking about... But he doesn't look so greedy anymore!"
He finds Wisp so cute 🥺 and whenever someone asks him the reason for it, he just says "Wisper is so tiny and round that I just want to protect him and keep him in my pocket". "Oh, you're back?! Hi buddy, it's nice to see you again! How are things going on afterlife?? It's your boss giving you too much work?? Ah, that's not fair, It's not even Halloween yet!"
You can easily tell if he's okay/happy because he tends to "sing" the Bubblegum song, even imitating the voices and/or sounds. If not, he will change the song or turn off the music player.
He MUST have a heart-shaped lake. Otherwhise the island would be incomplete.
He loved the Bunny day at first... Now he skips a day on the console settings.
His favorite gyroid is obviously the squeakoid, he was lucky enough to get it the first time and now he treats it as his baby 🥺 he even made a room for it and picked a name from those random baby names websites
He gets so excited if you ask about playing together. He makes you wait for a few minutes because he wants to prepare some gifts for you; he always gives you flowers (your favorite type if he's able, if not, whatever he can choose from, in your favorite color)
He starts to sing in a soft way (without noticing) when you're in one of your play-animal crossing-together dates. He can't help it.
He designed matching clothes for you both 😔 he also designed shirts inspired in the different Kingdom eras just in case the other members would want to play the game some day :')
He likes to have at least one character that reminds him of his cat, you or the members.

Do you have any headcanons about Taejus background and his childhood before joining Dongcheon? How did he get involved in the crime ring and when?
I could have swore there were conversations posted somewhere out there between me and @hakjoos about pre-series Taeju, but maybe that was just kept to our private dm's lol. Because I can't seem to find anything.
In any case, I'm going to link her Mujin/Taeju fic here, which focuses quite a bit on pre-Dongcheon Taeju and his induction into the club.
Our Days in the Sun
As far as my personal headcanon, I guess I've never really quite settled on who Taeju was before joining Dongcheon. He's so mysterious, and it's kind of hard to get a read on him because he keeps everything so close to the chest. We know he's vicious, and loyal, and smart, and young, and it seems like he's been with the organization for quite a while, so he had to have been early twenties (maybe late teens) when he joined. But outside of that is pretty much fair game. Maybe he was a troubled youth who needed to be saved. Maybe he came from a wealthy family with uptight parents and a life he wanted to escape. Maybe he lived a fairly normal life, and simply found himself caught up in the "wrong" crowd one day and fell into the lifestyle.
If I had to guess, I would say he was similar to Gangjae. Very young, maybe even a student, when he stumbled on Dongcheon (whether he met Mujin himself first or one of the other members, doesn't really matter), a little reckless, but also very cunning in a way that Gangjae never was or could be. He likely was fairly "normal" so to speak. Didn't really step out of line. Kept to himself. Kept quiet. The way he operates in Dongcheon, while probably a more honed and grown up version, is likely how he always was. He's an observer. Unlike Gangjae he didn't join Dongcheon for fame or glory or power. He just needed the club. He needed that family.
Or maybe, like Gangjae, he'd seen Mujin and his men on the streets and knew he needed in. They looked cool and powerful. But where Gangjae just needed the power, Taeju needed Mujin.
I don't know. There are so many possibilities. What do you think? Who was Taeju before Dongcheon?
