The Mouse and the Bucket
(I just remembered this but I didn't write it!)
(This a scenario I made of @ayyy-imma-ninja's SK AU)
Me: *chilling and reading a book* *Weird noise is heard nearby* Me: *goes to check it out*
*Is a damn mouse* Mouse: *squeak*
Me af: *internally screaming*
*Looks back to make sure SK Sun ain't around and gets a bucket out of somewhere and stares at the mouse. Mouse starts running and I chase after it despite being scared off my ass. Spends 5 good minutes chasing it and finally catches the lil shit.*
Me: Gotcha! *looks inside bucket and gags* G-Gross...
*Sneaks up near the door where SK Sun be near and try to sneak away to get rid of the mouse but I trip and fall and the bucket flies out of my hands and out the door. SK Sun turns to me and i just wave, stand up and dust myself off before going back to my original seat. I sit down and stay there for 3 seconds before passing out.*
Me: God I hate rodents... At least Mr. Sun don't gotta deal with it... (I may be scared of mice and rodents but god I hate seeing people scared! I'd make sure to get rid of that thing immediately! Yes, even mice!)
(Also, did I make this scenario based on that one scene of the trash can and stuff from the Oops episode of Helluva Boss? Yes, yes I did)

Of Mice & McKays - Stargate Atlantis
Tumblr media
Characters: Rodney McKay, Carson Beckett, Original Female Character (Olivia Myrddin)
Warnings: none, though Olivia swears right at the end
A falsetto scream echoed down the corridor outside the mess hall and Dr. Carson Beckett sighed, turning toward the sound. He knew a Rodney McKay scream when he heard one. In the mess hall, McKay was standing stiffly in the center of the room, staring fixedly at one of the tables. "There is a rat in here!" he announced when Carson entered the corner of his vision.
"A rat?" Carson bent down to peer under the table and sighed. A mouse--albeit a fairly large one--was watching him from under the table. "Oh, calm down, Rodney. It's only a wee mouse." He reached and offered his hand to the pure white rodent. The mouse investigated his hand, then hopped into his palm and laid a turd there. "He probably escaped from one of the research labs."
"What is it doing here?!"
"Considering mice and rats exist everywhere humans do, that shouldn't be a logical stretch," a female voice commented from behind them. Carson and Rodney both turned to see a young woman in a lab coat coming toward them. Her shoulder patch declared her an American scientist and her nametag read "Dr. Olivia Myrddin, research technician." She took the mouse from Carson and studied it with a severe look on her face. "You know better," she said to the mouse and it had the gall to look smug. "This one's part of a study we're doing on one of the Ancient machines we found last month. It's turning them into quite a bunch of little escape artists." She looked up from the mouse and gave Rodney a wry smile. "Sorry he surprised you."
"I wasn't scared," Rodney replied quickly, then paused, considering his words. "Right. Well, I hope you get them under control soon. How many escaped?"
"He's the only one this morning," Olivia sighed and closed her hands over the mouse who seemed oddly content to stay with her now that it had been captured. "They usually come back before curfew, so we're not that worried about finding them."
Carson raised his eyebrows. "They have a curfew?" He looked down at the palm of his hand and remembered the mouse's gift to him earlier, made a face and reached to wipe it off with a napkin.
"It's part of the study," Olivia explained. "We're checking to see if they can tell time. So far, they can."
"You're letting them run about Atlantis, then." Carson glanced at the horrified expression on Rodney's face. "That doesn't seem like a good idea, lass."
"No, we're keeping them in the lab," Olivia said quickly. "Some of them slip past the boundaries, though. A12 is pretty good at it now." She indicated the mouse in her cupped hands.
"What does having a sense of time have to do with Ancient technology?" asked Rodney, curious in spite of himself.
"From what we could figure out, the machine was supposed to give subjects an intelligence boost," explained Olivia. "All the mice we've used it on have been much better at solving puzzles, escaping traps and mazes, pretty much anything we've put them to. The time sense was just a hunch and it's proving surprisingly true." She sighed a little and Carson tilted his head in interest. "Sadly, it doesn't seem to work on human subjects, only animals. At least, it didn't help Lorne."
"You've moved to human trials?!" Carson said in alarm and Olivia laughed.
"It was a joke, Doctor. Of course we haven't. But it does seem limited in scale. The mice are smarter but not beyond what you'd typically see in a smart mouse."
"There are smart mice?" Rodney sounded skeptical but Olivia smiled.
"Everything is smart, Doctor McKay. Even humans. We just perceive intelligence differently than they do. They all have language, communication, and a sense of humor. That's a form of intelligence." She held up A12 so it could peek at them through her fingers. "Mice giggle. Did you know that?"
Both men just stared at her in surprise. "I did not know that," Carson offered.
"They play pranks on humans and giggle about it afterwards," Olivia continued with a grin. "Rats do it, too. They're ticklish and some of them will come to humans for tickles specifically. They seem to enjoy it. They're very social and the more social the creature, the more likely they are to show intelligence and humor the way we understand it." She paused, then glanced at her watch. "Oh, shit. I need to get back. Nice talking with you, Doctors."
She was gone before either of them could respond. "Have you ever seen her before?" Rodney asked thoughtfully.
Carson shook his head. "I was going to ask you the same, Rodney."
"Never."

Zoophobia, or animal phobia, is the irrational fear or aversion towards animals (excluding humans). Zoophobia is the general negative reaction to animals, but it is usually divided into many subgroups, each being of a specific type of zoophobia. Although zoophobia as a whole is quite rare, types of the fear are common. As mentioned before by Sigmund Freud, an animal phobia is one of the most frequent psychoneurotic diseases among children. Zoophobia is almost never towards mammals, but instead towards non-mammalia creatures. A list of common zoophobias is shown below.
Ailurophobia- fear of cats
Arachnophobia- fear of arachnids
Batrachophobia- fear of amphibians
Chiroptophobia- fear of bats
Cynophobia- fear of dogs
Entomophobia- fear of insects
Equinophobia- fear of horses
Ichthyophobia- fear of fish
Lepidopterophobia- fear of butterflies and/or moths
Melissophobia- fear of bees
Musophobia- fear of mice and rats
Ophidiophobia-fear of snakes
Ornithophobia- fear of birds
Ostraconophobia- fear of shellfish
Ranidaphobia- fear of frogs
Vermiphobia- fear of worms

So in SK au how would sun and moon react if a child's or adults emotional support animal was a rat or a mouse? Would they still let them in or would they hesitate?? (I don't know all the lore on this Au yet but from what I've seen sun doesn't like mice-)
Sun would not allow it into the library, even as an ESA. I think it's safe to say a good majority of Pinewood knows about his musophobia, even if they don't know why he is so afraid of them.
Moon, I am not sure he would allow one into the amusement park for the animal's safety; it's so small and could get taken. The park is outdoors, anything or anyone could snatch it up.
