A rambling defense of Makuta Spiriah('s design)!
Here’s a very long winded post about a bionicle side character that I suddenly have a lot to say about
I had no strong opinions of this like an hour ago and I suddenly have a massive rant to go on!
Okay, so, Makuta Spiriah, the 2008 bionicle combo model, is regarded as one of the ugliest combo models made for the series, from what I can see. It’s hard to deny that his model is pretty ugly and unremarkable, when you first see it. The colours clash, the construction is weird, and there’s a weird extra not-matoran guy included randomly? I won’t lie, I didn’t have a very good opinion of him either.
Tumblr media
However
As of now, this past hour, I have built this figure, and felt compelled to make a defense of his design, because we’ve been far too harsh.
Tumblr media
So, makuta spiriah is a pretty obscure character in the wider bionicle storyline, and would probably have just been a footnote in the story, were it not for the “Federation of Fear” story serial, in which he was a prominent member of the team. I probably wouldn’t have had an interest in building him, were it not for me wanting to collect every member. With all of the component sets for spiriah collected, my team is now completed (pic at the end). And I was immediately struck by how much better he looked in person? Like, don’t get me wrong, he’s still weird and janky, and his colour scheme is somewhat hard to adjust to, and all of the things you’d expect on initial glance (botar this is not) but I fully expected him to be ugly as hell, and instead he’s a pretty competent and cohesive model?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think there’s a few reasons for this, but the biggest one in my opinion is actually the reason I felt the need to make this post, because it’s one of the main things I see people talking about with this model:
I am completely, intensely certain that the other model on his back is intended to be part of his construction, and it seems to just be accepted as a given that it isn’t for some reason?
So, the reason I feel so intensely about this is that pretty much every time this model is mentioned, without fail, there’s sort of a fun fact about how “Spiriah is canon, but the matoran-esque thing on him is non-canon”
This doesn’t seem to have a direct source, so much as it’s a conclusion drawn due to how this second model is perceived. Specifically, the conclusion is drawn from: “there appears to be a weird, slapped together matoran character on his back, to showcase the matoran fusion function from 2008” + “No such character exists in the story” = “this part of the model isn’t canon”
And see, this logic treats the interpretation that this is a separate character as a given. Like… it doesn’t seem to be questioned. And with this mindset, yeah, when you put the models beside each other as individual things, they both look awful:
Tumblr media
You’re left with what seemingly appears to be a weirdly shaped antroz and some extra dude made from scraps. But in all honesty, I think this is just accepted as a fact due to spiriah already being accepted as an ugly model. I instead want to propose this as my first piece of evidence that this is not how this is intended to be seen. But my evidence doesn’t stop there.
For instance, another thing worth mentioning is the fact that there is not a single official depiction of the spiriah model that shows the two seperated, from what I can see. They are never once shown on their own in any capacity.
The one single exception to this is this part of the instructions, which tell you to construct the entirety of this second model as it’s own thing, before inserting it onto spiriah. However, this leads us to an additional point, being that this step is in the middle of spiriah’s construction, before you’ve even attached his arms. If this was intended to be a seperate model, why would it be attached during his body construction?
Tumblr media
My final piece of evidence I want to propose, relates to the notion of this second model being “an extra little thing you make from the scraps.” I think this idea is popular because of just how barebones it looks on it’s own. Like a weird afterthought. People rationalize this idea with the explanation that this was just to show the matoran fusion function that was being heavily advertised in 2008. They just wanted to insert the-matoran-on-his-back function and threw this extra thing together, right?
Except, having built this figure now… I don’t think you guys realize just how many extra pieces are left. Like, no, this wasn’t a bottom of the barrel little extra thing. They had three mask option and kept the head bare. There was so much to work with.
Tumblr media
(Also, fun fact, the matoran-thing has asymmetrical weapon pieces, but both of the chosen weapons have a second version available that wasn’t used, meaning it was a conscious choice for some reason. I don’t have a point to make with that, I just think it’s kinda weird and worth mentioning lmao)
Anyway, my point is, I strongly believe there is NOT some weird non canon extra guy with spiriah. Spiriah is, instead, a model that integrated a full matoran build into it’s construction as an actual design element. It uses the motif of the matoran fusion function, but the matoran instead fills out his figure, bulking him up to look more cohesive and complex.
Now, whether this is intended to be just an abstract way to construct his design, or he’s actually intended to look like he has a person melded into him or something, overtly, I’ll leave up to you. The makuta are weird and mutated enough that it honestly could very well be the latter, though it’d be an awfully weird thing to go unmentioned. But who knows, maybe some poor matoran got shadow-absorbed nidihki and krehka style. Or something. Your call!
Tumblr media
Anyway, I’ll finish off this weirdly specific rant by just saying that I think this really changed the way I look at some of these models. I think the vast amount of criticism I’ve seen of Spiriah is reflective of the fact that on a glance, he looks super unappealing, to the point that no one really wants to build him, and therefore people maintain these opinions without ever seeing him in person? Not to sound like I know better or anything, I would never have built him if it weren’t for my love of the Federation of Fear story, and up until this moment I firmly believed Spiriah was one of the worst models of the line. Jarringly coloured, weirdly proportioned. I’d have no reason to believe otherwise, had I not done this.
I just think that’s neat, and I also think it’s neat that I suddenly had so much to say immediately after building him. I still don’t think he’s anything special, granted. He could absolutely be improved. But as he is? He’s still pretty dang cool! Cooler than I think any of us have given him credit for! And I think that makes me appreciate him more!
So shout out to the biggest failure in bionicle history. At least someone thinks something about you is a success!

Thanks to @ygobattleroyale 's King of the Autism poll/tournament/thing that's gearing up, I am here to once again spread propaganda for my (current) favorite autistic blorbo, Yusei Fudo, since he rightfully made the bracket.
I had a whole essay started once that I never finished, but here I will be summing up some of the main points. This is also based on the sub. (Not hating on the dub in this post but the two are so vastly different they are practically different canons so I thought I should probably specify.)
Someone on here pointed out once that Yusei has "resting b*tch face" aka flat affect and I've been thinking about that ever since. (Wish I could credit them but I can't find the post again, haha. Had screenshots and everything. Very thorough.)
He's pretty straightforward. He says what he means and he means what he says. He doesn't sugarcoat things or beat around the bush. The first line he has is a very blunt question followed by an equally blunt response to the answer he receives.
My guy oscillates wildly between semi-verbal and hyperverbal. He's the main character but you literally do not hear his voice for the first seven minutes of the show and when he's not in life-threatening situations he's really pretty quiet most of the time. But then you also have the episode with Bruno where Crow comments how Yusei has never talked to him that much at once -- maybe in total ever -- and along with that, Jack being offended that apparently Yusei never has important conversations with him (also pertains to the above point since Yusei was being very blunt in that moment and a little bit mean, though that's not the way he obviously meant it to be, lol.)
The whole of meeting Bruno, okay? All Of That. He makes friends with Bruno in about .2 seconds to the point of sharing Super Secret Plans with him all because of a shared interest in mechanics and engineering. #autisticbonding
Crow also points out that Yusei really seemed to perk up while talking to and working with Bruno, which is very on point for engaging with a special interest especially when you have someone to engage in said interest with.
He's obviously shown to have a strong interest in Duel Monsters (obviously) as well as mechanics and engineering. He built his first fully functional d-wheel out of scrap parts by the time he was 16, after all.
During the WRGP opening gala, one of the other teams comes up to him and are excited and wanting to talk to him and he completely brushes them off and walks away. Crow calls him out on it (“hey man, that was really rude!”) and he’s like “oh whoops, yeah I guess you’re right.” He may have been distracted by other things, but this is still peak "failure to read social cues".
Having a strong moral compass gets him into trouble on more than one occasion. Because of his circumstances, he has a strong (and justified) distrust of authority, and he’s not afraid to break laws that he deems unjust. Even though breaking out of Satellite isn’t in itself for any moral reason (its just the means to an end), he isn’t afraid of breaking the law that says he isn’t allowed to leave because he sees that law as unjust and doesn’t understand why it exists. (For the record, it is unjust but that’s not the point, haha.)
I am sure there are more points, but that's all I've got for now, haha. Feel free to add anything I missed, and be sure to vote for Yusei when the polls start!

Hello mods! So I’ve been reading a lot of your posts and this blog has been extremely useful to me. With the announcement that the English server is getting the 6th joint exam at the end of the month I thought I should probably ask if you all have any advice on how I can break into the SSS rank? I’ve been stuck at SS rank for the past two joint exams and while I am capable of getting SS-SSS rank on almost all the types of regular exams, but I usually only barely make it into the SSS range. I know to get SSS on the joint exams you often need to exceed the 20,000k mark by a fair bit on at least a few exams.
From looking at the 6th unified exam on JP server it seems like we will probably get: Fire and Cosmic Basic, and Water, Flora, Omni Defense.
For my usual exam scores for these types, I’ve gotten: S (16000) for Cosmic Basic, SS (19500 range) for Fire Basic and Flora Defense, and SSS (20100 range) for Water and Omni Defense.
I average 5/5/5(if applicable) for spells across all my SSRs, everyone is duo capable, and most buddies are at least level 5 as well.
Dorm Azul, Dorm Riddle, Dorm Leona, Halloween Jade, and Beans Floyd have both their M1 and M2 maxed, Camp Ruggie and Club Cater have their M1s maxed, and Dorm Vil has his M2 maxed.
For Buddy Levels, these cards are all either fully maxed on buddy levels or they at least have their main power boost (attack/balanced) or HP boost (defense/balanced) maxed. All others card buddies can be assumed closer to level 5.
Dorm: Azul, Riddle, Leona, Vil, Trey, Idia, Ortho, Rook, Jack, and Jade.
Event: Halloween Jade, Halloween Silver, Camp Ruggie, Club Cater, Silk Jamil, Union Azul, and Boa Epel.
I unfortunately have not put in a lot of work on SR cards so beyond Robes Malleus, Lab Azul, and Silk Cater all being maxed to level 80, none of the others are currently well built.
I know this is a lot to ask for and I totally understand if you don’t have time to help with all these teams, just thought I’d give it a shot to ask about! Thank you all so much again for your amazing blog!!
(P.S. Azul is my absolute favorite and Dorm Azul is my all star card and it makes me extremely happy when he is on one of my teams, if at all possible, but I’ll take team recs for higher scores very seriously even if he isn’t on them.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello! First of all, same here, Dorm Azul is my ultimate card and I absolutely love using him in all my teams!! You’re very based for it actually.
For 6th unified exams, the exams are actually: Fire, Water, and Cosmic Basic, and Flora and Omni Defense. So it’s just your Water team that needs more adjustment. Since Cosmic Basic is harder to score high than all the other tests, I highly suggest working on your defense tests (which you have excellent cards for). Those will really raise your score.
Here’s the teams that I’d suggest. Remember that this is unified exams, so you can borrow supports!
Fire Basic
Dorm Azul
Dorm Riddle
Dorm Ortho
Dorm Idia
Support GM Ace [Lv.100+, preferred Lv.110]
Water Basic
Dorm Leona
Dorm Vil
Dorm Ruggie
Dorm Jack
Support Dorm Leona [Lv.100+, preferred Lv.110]
Flora Defense
Halloween Silver
Lab/Birthday Kalim (recommend Lab though for double Fire)
Beans Floyd
Beans Jade OR Tsum Leona
Support Halloween Silver [Lv.100+]
Or
Beans Floyd
Dorm Idia
Dorm Trey
Dorm Cater
Support Halloween Silver [Lv.100+]
Cosmic Basic
Dorm Trey
Dorm Cater
Halloween Jade
Dorm Azul
Support Dorm Riddle [Lv.110 highly preferred]
Or
Dorm Leona
Dorm Vil
Birthday Lilia
Dorm Epel
Support Dorm Rook [Lv.110 highly preferred]
Omni Defense
Dorm Trey
Dorm Cater
Dorm Azul
Dorm Idia
Support Dorm Trey [Lv.110 highly preferred]

Watching what’s going on at Twitter is like watching a guy losing his mind in slow motion. The guy in question is Elon Musk, who once upon a time was the world’s richest man and now isn’t. (That slot is apparently occupied by Bernard Arnault, the luxury goods mogul.)
Musk is in a hole but apparently doesn’t know Denis Healey’s First Law of Holes: when you’re in one, stop digging. The funny thing is that he dug the hole himself. First, he paid way over the odds for Twitter. Then, when Tesla shares (the main source of his wealth) tanked, and Twitter’s share price dropped, he tried to get out of the deal. That failed, so he was forced to borrow a lot of money – incurring interest payments of around a billion dollars a year – thereby becoming the reluctant owner of a loss-making company. And he hasn’t the faintest idea of how to make it work.
So he’s thrashing around, doing one contradictory thing after another. He started by firing half of the staff, including quite a few key people who knew how hard it is to run a social media platform. He demanded that highly skilled software engineers print out their code on paper so that he could give it the once-over. He rescinded the bans that the company had imposed on legions of rightwing nutters and then discovered that many advertisers, who are the company’s main source of revenue, pulled out, anxious lest their corporate brands get tainted by proximity to lunacy, hate speech and white supremacist cant. He even rescinded the ban on Donald Trump, only to find that Trump was no longer interested in being on the platform.
He took to sleeping on a sofa in Twitter’s San Francisco HQ, babbling about a “code red” crisis, the need to “clear the decks of any prior wrongdoing and move forward with a clean slate” and describing the company as a “crime scene”. To find some evidence for this, he commissioned two journalists to go through stacks of internal records of moderation decisions made long before he owned the company. Reports suggest that the documents merely show staff panicking about the radicalisation of the US right before and after the election and trying to react to events such as the storming of the Capitol building in Washington on 6 January 2021 – in other words, no smoking gun.
And all the while, Musk has continued his maniacal tweeting. He tweeted a white rabbit, for example, which the QAnon crowd interpreted as a sign of support. He misread a blog post by the former head of trust and safety at Twitter and insinuated he was a paedophile, prompting others to label the man a “groomer”. (This chimed with his 2018 accusation that one of the team that rescued a group of children from a cave in Thailand was a “pedo guy”.) The other day, he tweeted that “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci” – a multipurpose and daft insult revealing, among other things, that Musk doesn’t actually know how this “pronouns” business works.
One could go on, but you get the point. The guy is flailing around and Twitter has become “The Musk Experience”, as the blogger Helen Lewis puts it. Meanwhile, the world’s media watch in morbid fascination. How can the world’s second richest man – the guy who transformed the automobile industry and built rockets that can deliver payloads into orbit and return to land accurately and safely on ocean-going rafts – be making such a mess of reforming a mere social media platform. After all, that doesn’t require rocket science, right?
For the answer, we need look no further than Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Elon Musk is our contemporary gothic horror story. On the one hand, we have Dr Elon, a restless genius who transformed PayPal and used the proceeds to build two world-changing companies. Nobody who has seen him at work in these outfits doubts that he is fully on top of the technology and the business. Watch him on a tour of a SpaceX installation, for example, talking to the engineers who are building the kit and you see a CEO who really knows what he – and they – are doing. Likewise, ask him what’s special about the electric motors in the Tesla Model 3 or the Model S Plaid and you’re in for an interesting hour’s tutorial. In that sense, Dr Elon is the spiritual heir of Henry Ford, the genius who invented a new way of manufacturing complicated products at scale and, in doing so, changed the world.
And then, on the other hand, we have Mr Musk, a narcissistic man-child with a pathetic craving for attention, the attention span of a newt and a maximalist interpretation of what is meant by “free speech”. This creature now controls a platform that plays a small but significant role in the global public sphere. Run properly and with a viable business model, Twitter could continue to play a useful role in our lives. But for that to happen, Dr Elon would have to be in charge. And at the moment he’s missing in action.

2.7 is finally here,,,
spoilers: update 2.7, no leaks just the official livestream stuff, theories
━━━━━━━ ✤ ━━━━━━━
welcome back to me screaming-
Tumblr media
WAHHHHHH I’m so excited! ngl I thought I’d be very underwhelmed with this update but I’m so interested. My biggest excitement is the rhythm game but we’re gonna act like that’s not my favorite part-
Tumblr media
THIS THING LOOKS SO PRETTY I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS BUT IT LOOKS NICE I can’t tell if this is an existing place in the chasm or like a tiny new area? Xiao mentions something like a domain so maybe that lil doorway is a way in or out? Not quite sure but the compass thing looks so epic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YELAN I think I was pulling for her,,, she’s so pretty and I love her animations. Alas, I refuse to let Kazuha down and I’m staying strong cuz I have his c2 but I’m desperate to c6 him lol
HEARING HER VA WAS SOO COOL TOO I think both her and Shinobu’s eng voice actors fit the characters appearance. I love Yelan’s Korean va tho oml it’s such a pretty voice.
The camera angles with Yelan, bruh they knew what they were doing she’s so pretty- her movement and fighting style in general are so cool, very dynamic. Same for Shinobu. While I have no interest in pulling for Shinobu cause her character doesn’t interest me much, I still think she’s really cool. I’m not too happy about her kit, even considering that she’s a 4*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
xiao my beloved <3 I’ve got a side acc for genshin where I pull for characters that I like and want on my main but am fully aware would not benefit my teams at all. So despite Xiao getting a rerun and my love for him, I will once again be skipping him </3 ITTO THOUGH I want Itto so bad because I foolishly skipped him the first time around for shenhe- but again, we savin’ for kazuha so I must resist the temptation. I might try to get Itto on my side acc, who knows (I have no pity built up after Yae lol).
Anyways, back to Xiao. This trailer supports my idea that despite being a lil reserved party pooper, Xiao does not know how to shut up once you get him talking. He didn’t say much in the trailer but I feel like he’s gonna have so much dialogue in game with how passionate (?) he sounded in the trailer. I wonder if the lil hologram lookin thing of him is supposed to be a portal. Reminds me of the abyss portals.
I can’t tell if it’s related but Xiao seemed to be saying something along the lines of “If you’re still alive why would you become like this?” My brain immediately went to that MIA yaksha. I could be really far off lol but it’s the first thing I thought of. I wanna know if that green haired person is related to who Xiao may have been speaking about. The only thing that makes me think otherwise is that Itto seems to know the green haired person and I feel like Itto has little to no relation to Liyue especially in yaksha terms. My favorite part of genshin lore is the Yakshas so I’m hoping we get to learn more about that and that I will not be disappointed,,,
Also why tf are Itto and Shinobu here lmao I don’t understand how they fit in such a Liyuean focused plot but that’s okay they’ll explain it lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
omg the siblings jazz hands they’re back together, except I don’t think so lol Xiao’s saying something’s not right with the domain and my current assumption is that the sibling we see in front of us isn’t actually them, whoever’s messed up the domain is showing it to us to lure us in. Idk but the way Lumine seemed kinda fuzzy drew me away from the thought of it actually being her along with the space their in, look like the mf character menu lmao
the like red and black vortex shit confused me it looks cool and I’m excited for that part but I don’t know what it is.
Tumblr media
And my favorite part -u- Rhythm games are peak entertainment for me. I’m not a fan of the set up of the last two(?) rhythm events we had, but as an enstars fan this one has me so hyped. All of my millions of hours playing enstars have prepared me so this very moment It actually looks challenging in the best way. I’m just really picky about the rhythm games I play and this is my favorite format, set up, way of playing them, whatever you wanna call it lol I’m so excited for this event and I wish we got it sooner.
I’m hoping it’s earlier in the update thought I doubt it seeing as it was one of the ones announced later. That one fighting one does not interest me at all and I would be skipping it if we didn’t get a free weapon from it. It was announced first so I see that coming first in the update but maybe I’ll get lucky and the drum one will be beforehand or together with the first event seeing as it’s a little simpler!
OK THATS ALL IM EXCITED!! <3

Actual summary of events:
I ask on discord: how viable is wanderer and Ayaka together?
Them: 👎”not”
Me: ok
Me yesterday: finally got my ayaka to lvl 80 and wanted to check her out, Wanderer is my current main DPS so I threw Ayaka on my team with Qiqi (who is just there to keep me alive) and Xiangling. I was grinding mechanical array. I don’t do weekly abyss or even have access to it yet so I can’t talk about abyss viability, but the team was really fun and my Ayaka isn’t fully built yet.
So guys, moral of the story, don’t listen to people when they tell you what teams to play.
Also this isn’t related to anything but I for Xinyan woohoo lmao.

This is my character!!! His name is Tolus and he is a Satyr warrior! For the longest time he lived out in the woods alone, only occasionally seeing his only friend Rus who is a wanderer so he sees him very rarely.
He thinks he was banished to live out in the woods because his whole village never really liked him. What actually happened was he was possessed and murdered everyone in his whole village. He doesn’t fully know but the loss of his family and village even if he just thinks he was banished has really impacted him, making him extremely protective but also very weary of people. All that time in the woods has made him extremely nervous and bad at social interactions but he tries! He is also just very sassy and sarcastic because he has next to no filter xb
His main thing while being out in the woods was scavenging remains of the old world (our modern world) that’s why he wears the clothes he does, he found a very old and mostly buried Hot Topic and loved the style. His main hobbies were painting, gardening, reading, and SOMETIMES strength training, he didn’t think it would be important at the time. He always longed for more though, as much as he enjoyed his simple life, he thought he was meant for more (or had to atone for the evil he unknowingly committed).
Now that he is a sentinel and training and has his group he’s getting close with and dealing with a cult stresses are high and he’s coming into himself more, figuring out what is important. His team mates are, 2 of the 3 of them are also sentinels in training plus…they are his team mates! Of course he cares about them, they’ve helped him in battles and travelled far and wide with them. Stopping the cult is, especially because they are violently racist humans and he is a Satyr, literally has already been hate crimed. And finally, even if he doesn’t become the sentinel he trains and fights with the intent to help and protect everyone (even though sometimes he struggles lmao) after his first few times going down in battle he is at peace with possibly having to die/sacrifice himself to help people but he never actively trying to get himself killed and he’s mostly frustrated he isn’t strong enough yet, just figuring out how to use his specialization. He wants to be as strong as the current sentinel Artemis but he knows he has a long way to go.
Appearance wise he is 6 foot, very built, thinking like Ghost from 2022 MW2 or Kratos from GoW xb. I’m so conflicted about his hair colour because he was he was supposed to have brown hair but one of his picrews is more blonde so I just started imagining him as blonde so he kinda has dirty blonde, pure blonde in the sunlight kinda hair. Idk XD
That’s all for now on him! The campaign is still ongoing obviously but I’ll share more stuff about it soon! :b

^as you can see, i was WEAK and pulled for alhaitham lol. i really like his design and i’m just starting to get into dendro, so it was just too tempting...i’m also primarily a traveler main so when it’s time for Fontaine, i’ll have lost my main dendro character. the only other one i’ve got is collei who’s ok but she’s not built at all.
i think I got alhaitham in like 60 wishes! which isn’t terrible I feel. i also got a few cons for xiangling (still don’t like her that much but she’s so useful it’s hard not to use her). 2 yaoyaos (there’s another dendro unit!), 1 heizou (I actually wasn’t going to pull at all bc i didn’t want yaoyao that much or heizou but i actually tried him out and his playstyle is just fun so i actually did want him), and 1 razor con (good fluffy boy...i do want to try him out one day but i have too many electro units). also I got lucky with a few double 4*s per pull and got some weapons.
including the favonius codex in the same pull as alhaitham! what luck haha. that’s my first fav codex actually so i was really happy. i don’t have many 4* catalysts or polearms.
now, actually building this man is going to be TOUGH. I just finished Inazuma not long ago and haven’t started Sumeru archon quest yet nor explored much of it. on the upside, I FINALLY am getting the mats for Wanderer. i probably won’t make an abyss team for him since i only have a C1 Faruzan and idk if i’ll be able to get zhongli, BUT i still love him for exploration. especially sumeru. oh god i have no idea how i’d navigate that region without him.
anyways, i also finally went though all the basic spiral abyss levels (how many floors is it? 8? 9?) which weren’t that hard now that i have some built units. still lack 2 fully built teams though. synergy on the second team is also a little iffy.
i’m also finally at the stage where it’s time to grind for artifacts...or even just get a decent selection of 5* artifacts, never mind super good ones.

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Dimensions’ End Transcendence Tier 12
The Dimensions’ End: Transcendence Tier 12 Lufenia (level 200) and Shinryu (level 300) quests just started in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game.
Tumblr media
If you bring a char equipped with a Burst or BT weapon to a Transcendence battle, the entire party’s stats will be enhanced.
Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 1 Lufenia Quest
The Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 1 Lufenia quest has 1 wave with 3 enemies, the Lunatic Might Eater and his 2 minions, the Lunatic Mite Eater.
As part of the mission requirements, you need to win within 60 turns and you need to have a White Crystal char in your party.
The Lufenia orbs will show up on battle start and they cannot be cancelled. The count will be increased by 5 if a char inflicts 1 or more debuffs in 1 turn. The count is maxed at 15.
The count will be decreased by 1 every time a char moves. It will be decreased by 2 every time the enemies move.
For this fight, my team was Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI, Seymour Guado from Final Fantasy X, and Shelke Rui from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII with The Brothers as my summon.
Tumblr media
My Calls were Cid Raines’s from Final Fantasy XIII, Lilisette’s from Final Fantasy XI, and Keiss’s from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.
Keiss’s LD Call afflicts enemies with a debuff that will battery the party every time an enemy is launched. Cid Raines’s LD Call will enable its user to initiate launches for 2 turns.
Lilisette’s Calls afflict the enemies with multiple debuffs. Her LD Call can also heal the party.
Have Celes’s, Seymour’s, and Shelke’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD fully MLB. Their Ex weapons have been Purpled or upgraded to Ex+ 3/3. They all have their High Armors. Celes’s High Armor has been Realized to 0/3.
Celes and Seymour also have their Force weapons but neither have been fully limit broken. Celes has her Burst weapon and it’s been leveled to the max but currently have no plans of Realizing it or Greening it.
Shelke, Seymour, and Celes have their Bloom Stones. They have triple perfect Artifacts and triple RF Spheres.
All of their Summon Boards have been completed. Unlocked parts of their Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me their LD Call and LD extension passives. Haven’t gotten any of their Force Enhancements.
Seymour is a White Crystal char. But the main reason why I brought him here as opposed to picking another White Crystal char was because there’s a time-limited mission that wants players to clear the Reckoning stage of Dimensions’ End: Transcendence Tier 12 with Seymour in the party.
Tumblr media
Need to bring Seymour to one of the Crucibles in Tier 12 so I can bring him to the Reckoning stage.
Seymour is a debuffer who deals decent enough damage. He can afflict the enemies with multiple debuffs. With his LD, he can delay all enemies by 2 turns. He can also remove their buffs.
Seymour gets much better once the HP of the enemies goes down. Depending on how low the HP of the enemies are, he’ll be able to do multiple follow-ups to his attacks.
Shelke is currently equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Special or Unique-type Ultima Weapon. The fact that she can equip this is the main reason why I brought her here.
Being able to wield an Ultima Weapon will help to increase her damage output and allow her to hit harder even if she isn’t fully built.
Shelke deals physical, non-elemental damage. Her main gimmick is getting extra turns every now and then.
Celes is currently equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon. Aside from being able to wield an Ultima Weapon that I actually have, another reason why I brought Celes to this fight was because she has a Burst weapon and she’s a magical tank.
Thanks to Celes’s BT, everyone in my party gets a stat boost. Considering none of my chars are fully built, this stat boost is really useful.
And I figured I could use some more protection too, just in case. As a tank, Celes can help with that. She can lock enemies into targeting her.
She can also enchant the party and imperil enemies with the ice element. She even has some trap debuffs so she can help deal off-turn damage. Celes can heal too.
Right now, I only have 4 Ultima Weapons - the aforementioned Greatsword and Special ones, a Level 5 of 5 Fist-type Ultima Weapon, and a Level 2 of 5 Spear-type Ultima Weapon.
So unfortunately, I don’t have an Ultima Weapon to give to Seymour since his weapon type is a staff or rod.
This fight is only quest level 200 so it wasn’t that hard even with my chars not being fully built.
As soon as the battle started, the main boss lowered the max HP of all my chars.
This wasn’t really an issue though since Celes locked all the enemies into targeting her so she was the one who took on all the single-target attacks.
The Lufenia orb wasn’t much of an issue either since Seymour can afflict debuffs with all of his moves. Celes can afflict debuffs via her LD and her Lock move.
Shelke can’t debuff enemies but it’s fine since Seymour alone was more than enough to keep the orb count up.
My chars dealt decent enough damage. Shelke and Celes having Ultima Weapons definitely helped.
The enemies got to move often enough but they didn’t really do anything all that dangerous.
At one point though, long after the minions had been defeated, the main boss got to move and he dealt AoE damage that took my chars down to around half of their HP or thereabouts. Just glad none of them died or I’d have to repeat this quest again.
Tumblr media
Anyway, was able to quickly get Shelke back to full health just by having her use her LD, Countertek.
By now the boss’s HP was at 76% and my force gauge was at 92.5%. When my force gauge was fully charged to 100%, I decided that I might as well activate Seymour’s FR.
Seymour’s FR isn’t maxed out so I only have 5 turns of force time with it. And if a Force weapon hasn’t been fully limit broken, the HP damage bonus can only be increased by a small percentage each turn.
Don’t even know the exact conditions that each char needs to fulfill in order to increase the HP damage bonus of Seymour’s FR. I think it has something to do with debuffs and the current HP of the enemies or something.
It doesn’t really matter since I only really used Seymour’s FR for the additional damage.
Maybe it would have been better to use Celes’s FR instead even if it also isn’t fully MLB but I couldn’t use it because I don’t have it equipped.
Since Celes’s FR isn’t fully MLB, I don’t have its passive. So if I want Celes to be able to use her Force weapon, she needs to be equipped with it. But I can’t equip her with her FR right now, not since I want her to be able to use my Greatsword Ultima Weapon.
Anyway, after using Seymour’s FR, it was now Celes’s turn. Had her use Raines’s LD Call then I went straight into her Burst phase.
Tumblr media
By now the boss was down to 63% HP. Have 4 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 140%. Before this, had already used Keiss’s LD Call and Lilisette’s regular Call.
Celes and Seymour weren’t back to full health yet. But Celes was soon back to full health thanks to the healing from using her abilities.
Was only able to get the HP damage bonus to 226% before my force time ended. By then, have 3 turns left of Celes’s Burst mode and the boss was down to 44% HP.
Tumblr media
By the time Celes was about to cast Searching for Friends, her finishing Burst move, the boss was at 33% HP. Seymour was nearly back to full health thanks to the party-wide heal from one of Celes’s skills.
Tumblr media
A few turns later, had Shelke use Lilisette’s LD Call already. After a turn or 2, summoned The Brothers. By then the boss was down to 16% HP.
It was Celes who dealt the killing blow, finishing off the boss right before the summon was about to end. The battle ended on turn 12.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements which also got me the Perfect.
Tumblr media
This fight really wasn’t that bad or hard at all. Pleased that I was able to get the win even if my chars weren’t fully built or maxed out.
Tumblr media
Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 2 Lufenia Quest
The Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 2 Lufenia quest has 1 wave with 1 enemy, the Lunatic Colorless Queen.
As part of the mission requirements, you need to win within 60 turns and you need to have a Green Crystal char in your party.
The Lufenia orb will show up on battle start and it cannot be cancelled. The count will be increased by 10 if the enemy takes BRV damage that ignores DEF. The count is maxed at 15.
The count will be decreased by 1 every time a char moves. It will be decreased by 2 every time the enemy moves.
For this fight, my team was Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII (#ad), Prishe from Final Fantasy XI, and Leo Cristophe from Final Fantasy VI with The Brothers as my summon. My Calls were Seymour’s, Raijin’s from Final Fantasy VIII, and Lunafreya Nox Fleuret’s from Final Fantasy XV.
Tumblr media
Lunafreya’s regular Call heals the party. One of the effects of her LD Call is giving its user 2 buffs, one of which will allow them to get 3 turns in a row.
Raijin’s LD Call afflicts enemies with a debuff that prevents all HP damage and debuffs for like 2 turns.
Seymour’s Calls afflict the enemies with multiple debuffs, one of which increases the HP damage that they take. His LD Call can also delay all enemies by 2 turns.
Have Tifa’s, Leo’s, and Prishe’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD fully MLB. Their Ex weapons have been Purpled.
Tifa also has her Force and Burst weapons fully MLB. Her Burst has been Greened or upgraded to BT+ 3/3.
Prishe, Leo, and Tifa have their Bloom Stones. They have triple perfect Artifacts. Tifa has triple real Spheres but Leo and Prishe don’t have any at all.
All of Tifa’s Summon Boards, Character Enhancement Boards, and Force Enhancements have been completed.
All of Leo’s and Prishe’s Summon Boards have been completed. Unlocked parts of their Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me their LD Calls and LD extension passives. They don’t have any of their Force Enhancements.
Tifa is currently equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Fist Ultima Weapon. She served as my main DPS for this fight. She’s a really powerful physical, non-elemental DPS.
Leo is a support who deals decent enough damage. He can afflict enemies with a debuff that helps to increase the party’s damage output.
He can battery the party. He can heal. He can even delay the enemies. He’s currently equipped with my Greatsword Ultima Weapon.
Prishe is a DPS too. Since mine isn’t fully built, her damage output pales in comparison to Tifa’s. Brought her here since she has moves that deal BRV damage that ignores DEF. She’s also a Green Crystal char.
With my fully built Tifa as part of this team, this fight was basically a joke, especially since there’s only one enemy.
Thanks to Leo’s delays plus the delay from Seymour’s LD Call, was able to keep the Lunatic Colorless Queen from moving.
Basically just had everyone spam their skills while I waited for my force gauge to charge to 100%.
Only Tifa has max Force Enhancements and I didn’t have a char who could make the force gauge charge faster so had to wait a bit before my force gauge got fully charged to 100%.
Thankfully, since this was only a Lufenia fight, the battle started with my force gauge already charged to 50%. So I suppose the wait wasn’t that long but it would have definitely gone by faster if all my chars had max Force Enhancements.
Anyway, the Lufenia orb was slightly troublesome since only Prishe can deal BRV damage that ignores DEF, and only some of her abilities have this effect.
Tumblr media
I'd wait until the orb count was at around 3 or so before having Prishe use one of her DEF-ignoring skills.
By the time my force gauge charged to 100%, the Lunatic Colorless Queen was down to 64% HP.
On Tifa’s turn, had her use her Additional Ability then Lunafreya’s LD Call. Then I activated her Force ability followed by her Burst+ finisher.
Normally, I’d spam Tifa’s Battle Cry move (this has instant turn rate) until I had exactly 7 turns of force time left before activating Tifa’s Burst+ mode.
But in this fight, that didn’t seem necessary at all. So right after using Tifa’s BT+ finisher, just went straight into her Burst+ mode.
Tumblr media
Have 9 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was currently at 190%. The Colorless Queen was already down to 49% HP. The Lufenia orb count was at 10.
Just spammed Tifa’s skills. By the time Tifa was about to cast Final Heaven, her finishing Burst+ move, the Colorless Queen was already dead.
Tumblr media
Actually, she died a few turns ago but a char’s Burst mode won’t end until they use their finisher.
Anyway, have 3 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 590%. The battle ended on turn 10.
Got the score and all the other mission requirements which also got me the Perfect.
Tumblr media
This team did really well. Tifa made this fight super easy. Leo did a great job supporting Tifa with his delays and debuff. Prishe took care of the Lufenia orb.
Tumblr media
Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12 Reckoning Shinryu Quest
The Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Reckoning Shinryu quest has 1 wave with 1 enemy, the Lunatic Ingranaggio. He has 60 million HP.
The enemy has attacks that can also buff himself. His force gauge charges faster than normal.
Once the force gauge of the enemy reaches 100% for the first time, the Lunatic Ingranaggio will deal AoE BRV damage. He’ll then gain a yellow aura.
Once his force gauge reaches 100% for the second time, he will deal AoE BRV + HP damage. He will then gain a red aura as well as 5 turns of a framed HP damage resistance buff.
Once the force gauge of the enemy reaches 100% for the third time, then it’s game over because the Lunatic Ingranaggio will use an attack that will instantly KO all your chars.
The enemy’s force time lasts for 2 turns. While under the effects of his force time, the Lunatic Ingranaggio will be able to move immediately after a char does.
Once the boss drops down to 49% HP, he will summon 2 more copies of himself. These copies will also have 60 million HP each. All enemies will then get 5 turns of a speed up buff. The boss can’t be killed until after he summons his copies.
For this fight, my team was Tifa, Seymour, and Celes with The Brothers as my summon. My Calls were Cid Raines’s, Keiss’s, and Leo’s.
Tumblr media
This fight was - well, I guess I wouldn’t really call it hard. It’s really annoying though. If all my chars were fully built, this fight would be pretty easy.
The enemy got to move often enough, and he hits pretty hard but thankfully, Celes was able to tank the attacks just fine. She’d lose some HP sometimes so just needed to make sure she was back to full health before the next attack.
The main issue I found was the mechanics of this quest. Really need to end the fight before the enemy uses their force attack for the third time. But with this team, that was easier said than done.
Since this is a Shinryu quest, the fight started with my force gauge at 0%. And since only Tifa has max Force Enhancements, my force gauge charged at a snail’s pace.
In contrast to that, the force gauge of the enemy charged really fast. Seemingly in no time at all, the enemy managed to use their force attack twice while my force gauge was still not fully charged.
The enemy’s first force attack didn’t do any damage at all. The second only dealt a little bit of HP damage to my chars thanks to the protection and defenses from Celes. Seymour’s debuffs helped as well.
The enemy’s force time wasn’t really anything to worry about either since Celes took on all the attacks.
By the time my force gauge was finally at 100%, the enemy was well on their way to being able to charge their force gauge for the third time.
Made sure to use all my Calls then had Tifa activate her FR then her BT+ finisher.
Without Lunafreya’s LD Call, had to wait for Tifa to get another turn before I could go into her Burst+ phase.
Unfortunately, the turn order got a little messed up so by the time I was finally able to activate Tifa’s Burst+ mode, I only had 5 turns of force time left. The HP damage bonus was at 409%.
Tumblr media
The force gauge of the enemies was at 46.0%. The Lunatic Ingranaggio had dropped below 49% HP a few turns earlier so he’d already summoned his allies. Was able to have Seymour debuff the other 2 Lunatic Ingranaggios before going into Tifa’s BT+ phase.
Tifa was able to deal a lot of damage but she could have done more if I’d been able to go into her BT+ mode while I had exactly 7 turns of force time left.
As it was, by the time I only had 1 turn of force time left, Tifa still has 3 turns of her Burst+ phase left. The HP damage bonus was at 674%. The enemies were down to 67%, 21%, and 29% HP.
Tumblr media
I shouldn’t have brought Raines’s and Keiss’s Calls. Or, alternatively, I should have waited until the other Lunatic Ingranaggios had been summoned before using Keiss’s Call. Because I only managed to get Keiss to debuff the first Lunatic Ingranaggio.
So what happened was that my chars only got batteried if Tifa was targeting the enemy with Keiss’s debuff. If she attacks the other Lunatic Ingranaggios, she’ll be able to launch them too thanks to Raines’s LD Call but neither Seymour nor Celes will have much or any brave to dump for these launches.
Obviously, couldn’t just keep on targeting only one of the Lunatic Ingranaggios since I need to kill them all to end this battle. So I had Tifa alternate between each enemy.
Tifa was able to do well enough that by the time she was about to cast Final Heaven, her finishing Burst+ move, the enemies were down to 28%, 15%, and 29% HP.
Tumblr media
A few turns later, summoned The Brothers already. The force gauge of the enemies was at 89%. The enemies were down to 24%, 11%, and 17% HP. Was trying to hurry but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it before the enemies got to use their force attack for the third time.
Had Tifa hog a few turns during the summon. But in retrospect, should have had her spam her Battle Cry move and hog all the turns. Not sure how much difference that would have made but it would definitely have helped.
After the summon ended, the enemies were down to 11%, 4%, and 9% HP. Their force gauge was at 95.2%. It was currently Seymour’s turn. My own force gauge was at 57.6%.
Tumblr media
Sadly, pretty sure there’s no way my chars can finish off all of the Lunatic Ingranaggios before the force gauge of the enemies reaches 100%.
So it’s over. Sigh. Too bad I wasn’t able to make it. Honestly, this fight wouldn’t be that bad if we weren’t required to get the win before the enemies got to use their force attack for the third time.
This team would have been able to make it if I had more time, if there wasn’t a time limit.
But now it was back to the drawing board. I could try again but I don’t know if having Tifa equip Lunafreya’s Call would be enough to get me the win.
What I really needed was a way to get my force gauge to charge faster. Still don’t want to get Seymour’s and Celes’s Force Enhancements though since they’re not fully built. Don’t even have Seymour’s BT. And I still don’t have any plans to Green and Blue them.
So I thought about bringing at least 1 force gauge charger or even just another char with max Force Enhancements to help.
Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 1 Lufenia Quest Take 2
After considering my options and thinking about it some more, decided to bring Lunafreya to go with Tifa and Seymour. This meant redoing one of the Crucibles so I can slot in Lunafreya.
Decided to redo Crucible 1 since adding Lunafreya to Crucible 2 with Tifa would just be overkill. LOL.
So my team for the Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12, Crucible 1 Lufenia quest was now Lunafreya, Seymour, and Shelke with The Brothers as my summon. My Calls were Keiss’s, Leo’s, and Raines’s.
Have Lunafreya’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, BT, and FR fully MLB. Her Ex has been Purpled. Her Burst has been Greened. She has Her High Armor and it’s been Blued.
Lunafreya has her Bloom Stone. She has triple perfect Artifacts and triple real Spheres.
All of her Summon Boards, Character Enhancement Boards, and Force Enhancements have been completed.
Lunafreya is a really good support and healer who provides great buffs and auras. She can quickly charge the force gauge with her instant turn rate moves. She can battery the party a lot. She can even deal pretty decent damage, especially since she’s fully built.
Lunafreya can enchant the party and imperil enemies with the ice and water elements. With her LD, she can give herself and her allies multiple turns in a row.
Had Lunafreya spam her skills to quickly charge my force gauge. As soon as it was at 100%, had Luna use her FR.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I forgot to refresh the duration of Luna’s buffs before activating her Force ability.
Normally, thanks to the party-wide enchant from Lunafreya, each char can increase the HP damage of her FR by up to 40%. But since one of her buffs fell off, my chars were now only able to increase the HP damage bonus by 20%, which is way too freaking low.
Had to wait for it to be Lunafreya’s turn again so I can refresh her buffs. But earlier, while I had Luna charge my force gauge, had her use her LD which gave herself and her allies multiple turns in a row.
So my force time just kept on ticking down as Shelke and Seymour got a lot of turns. By the time I only had 3 turns of force time left, the HP damage bonus was only at 277% HP, and it still wasn’t Lunafreya’s turn.
Tumblr media
Was really annoyed about that so decided to just quit the fight. Went back in with the same team and summon but took the opportunity to change some of my Calls. Now, I brought Leo’s, Lilisette’s, and Kurasame Susaya’s from Final Fantasy Type-0.
Tumblr media
Kurasame’s Calls afflict the enemies with a debuff that increases the HP damage that they take. It also imperils enemies to the ice element. Kura’s regular Call enchants its Caller with the ice element while his LD Call has a party-wide ice enchant.
Thought it best to just equip everyone with Calls that debuff, just in case. This is especially because Lunafreya can give herself and her allies multiple turns in a row so won’t always be able to get Seymour to move and debuff the enemies right away.
Once again, had Lunafreya quickly charge my force gauge but this time, made sure that all her buffs had been refreshed before activating her FR.
Aside from her FR, had Lunafreya use her BT+ finisher as well for more buffs and auras. Had my chars use their Calls and Additional Abilities too.
Was able to get the HP damage to 543% before my force time ended. By then the boss was down to 40% HP and it was only turn 4.
Tumblr media
Just had everyone continue spamming their skills. Soon, the boss was down to 20% HP. It was Seymour’s turn. Had him summon The Brothers already.
The on-entry attack of The Brothers took the boss down to 3% HP so Seymour’s attack was more than enough to finish off the enemy and end the battle on turn 5.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements which also got me the Perfect.
Tumblr media
Welp, this fight was really easy with this team. The enemies didn’t even get the chance to move. LOL.
Tumblr media
Dimensions’ End: Transcendence, Tier 12 Reckoning Shinryu Quest Take 2
This time my team for this fight was Seymour, Tifa, and Lunafreya with The Brothers as my summon. My Calls were Prishe’s, Lilisette’s and Llyud’s from Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.
Prishe’s Calls increase the damage output of its Caller. Llyud’s does something similar but it’s for the entire party.
With Lunafreya as part of my team, my force gauge charged much faster. For now, didn’t have Luna spam all of her moves so Tifa and Seymour could get some turns as well.
I thought things were going pretty well but then the enemy got to use their force attack for the first time.
This wasn’t the problem though since that was only an AoE BRV attack. The problem was the enemy’s force time.
Since Celes wasn’t around anymore, the boss managed to one-shot Lunafreya when he got a turn. Eff!
Tumblr media
So I quit the fight to change one of my Calls. Dropped Lilisette’s Call and replaced it with Rydia’s from Final Fantasy IV.
Tumblr media
Rydia’s regular Call provides party-wide water enchant for a few turns. Her LD Call will give the party a buff that will allow them to evade 3 attacks. This buff doesn’t expire until it’s been used up.
Didn’t use Rydia’s LD Call right away. Because if I use it now, then once the enemy uses his force attack for the first time, Rydia’s LD buff will negate said attack.
That attack doesn’t even deal any HP damage though so I don’t want to waste Rydia’s LD buff negating it.
So my plan was to have Luna use Rydia’s LD Call right after the enemy uses his force attack for the first time.
Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. I’ve had to repeat this fight multiple times because the enemy always manages to attack and kill one of my chars before Luna can use Rydia’s LD Call.
Sometimes, Luna gets broken by the enemy’s force attack so another char gets a turn before her. Other times, it’s just not her turn yet so I can’t have her use Rydia’s LD Call.
Was getting really annoyed. Getting really sick and tired of having to repeat this fight over and over again.
After what felt like forever, finally got a run where Luna didn’t get broken and the turn order aligned so I was able to get her to use Rydia’s LD Call before the enemy can attack and kill one of my chars.
Tumblr media
When my force gauge was nearing 100% already, had Lunafreya use her BT+ finisher and her Additional Ability. By then the boss was down to 82% HP and his force gauge was at 29.7%.
Tumblr media
Had Lunafreya use her LD so she gave multiple turns to herself and her allies. Tifa was supposed to get 3 turns in a row but to my surprise, she only got 2.
Took a look at her buffs list and noticed that she doesn’t have Lunafreya’s Quick Prayer buff. This is the buff that gives chars multiple turns in a row.
Each char can only have up to 6 buffs. Apparently, Tifa already has the max of 6 buffs so wasn’t able to give her Luna’s Quick Prayer.
Ugh. What a mess. Shouldn’t have used Rydia’s regular Call earlier. The buff this gave was still active on Tifa.
Didn’t want to restart this fight though, certainly not after it took me so long to keep the enemy from killing one of my chars after he goes into his first force time.
So decided to keep going for now and just hope for the best. Tifa has 2 turns in a row so had her activate her BT+ finisher and her FR. Can’t remember for sure now which one I used first though.
Had to wait for what feels like forever before it was Tifa’s turn again. It didn’t help at all that Seymour has the Quick Prayer buff so he ended up wasting a lot of turns of my force time.
He was able to increase the HP damage bonus of Tifa’s FR well enough but of course his damage output pales in comparison to Tifa’s.
It really sucks that by the time I was finally able to go into Tifa’s Burst+ phase, only have 5 turns of force time left. The HP damage bonus was at 386%.
Tumblr media
The boss was now down to 45% HP so he’d just summoned his allies who both still have 100% HP. Unfortunately, wasn’t able to get Seymour to debuff the 2 new bosses before going into Tifa’s BT+ mode.
I suppose I could have tried to delay things a bit more. Like maybe I could have waited until Tifa had a buff slot free before getting Luna to give her Quick Prayer again.
But that would have taken way too much time. The enemy just used their first force attack. Now their force gauge was charging again for the second time. So there was no time to waste. Needed to end this fight as soon as possible.
Was able to get the HP damage bonus to 656% by the time Tifa only had 1 turn of force time left. By then she has 3 Burst+ turns left and the enemies were down to 52%, 45%, and 39% HP.
Tumblr media
By the time Tifa was about to cast Final Heaven, the enemies were at 46%, 9%, and 39% HP.
Afterwards, it didn’t take long before the enemies got to use their force attack for the second time. Was able to get through their force time just fine thanks to Rydia’s LD Call evasion buff.
Just had my chars spam their skills. Made use of Seymour’s LD to delay the enemies and keep them from moving. Luna’s Quick Prayer buff helped too so my chars can just keep on moving.
Soon, one of the enemies died already. Now only 2 were left. Summoned The Brothers, and his on-entry attack took the 2 enemies down to 25% and 27% HP.
Tumblr media
It was Tifa’s turn. She gets 4 turns in a row. The force gauge of the enemies was now at 69.0%. If this gets to 100% again, then it’s game over. My own force gauge was at 80.1%.
On Tifa’s 4th turn in a row, had her spam her Battle Cry skill so she can hog the rest of the turns during the summon. When the summon ended, both enemies were down to 8% HP.
Spammed a few more of Tifa’s Battle Cry before letting her allies have a turn. Would have kept on spamming Battle Cry but had to use Tifa’s other skills to refresh her other buffs.
Tumblr media
It was Lunafreya’s turn next. My force gauge was now at 95.9%. The enemies were down to 8% and 1% HP. Their force gauge was at 83.0%. Had Luna use Diamond Dust, her Ex.
Tumblr media
The attack finished off 1 of the enemies. The last one was left with 7% HP. It was Seymour’s turn now. My force gauge was at 100% while the enemy’s was at 96.7%.
Was so close to winning already so I really didn’t want to have to repeat this fight again. Had Seymour activate his FR in the hopes that it would cancel the charge of the enemy’s force gauge.
Tumblr media
Well, the enemy’s force gauge was still at 96.7%, which sucks, but it seems to have stopped charging thanks to Seymour’s FR so that was good.
Seymour’s attack took the remaining enemy down to 4% HP. It was now Tifa’s turn again. Have 5 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 112%.
Honestly, would have preferred to use Tifa’s or even Lunafreya’s FR so I could have 10 turns of force time as well as a higher HP damage bonus. But Seymour’s FR was the only one who could stop the enemy’s force gauge from charging further.
Thankfully, Tifa's attack was more than enough to finish off the last boss and end the battle on turn 14.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements. Really glad to finally be over and done with this fight.
Tumblr media
This team did really well. And I’m glad that I was able to get the time-limited reward for clearing this Shinryu quest with Seymour in my party.
Tumblr media

Testing: Space-bound US-European water mission passes finals Before any NASA mission is launched, the spacecraft goes through weeks of harsh treatment. It's strapped to a big table that shakes as hard as the pounding of a rocket launch. It's bombarded with louder noise than a stadium rock concert. It's frozen, baked, and irradiated in a vacuum chamber that simulates the extremes of space. The Surface Water and Ocean Topography mission (SWOT), a collaborative U.S.-French mission to monitor all the water on Earth's surface, has passed these major tests. Now, except for a few final checks, SWOT is ready for its December launch. Some of SWOT's engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California have invested almost a decade in designing, building, and assembling this complex mission. Watching the instruments they've labored over go through the latest round of tests has been stressful, but the team has taken the process in stride. That's because every part of SWOT, down to nuts and bolts, had been tested multiple times before the satellite entered the thermal vacuum chamber for the last time. The engineers say the earlier tests produced far more anxiety. Phoebe Rhodes-Wickett, a mechatronics engineer at JPL, has spent a quarter of her life working on SWOT. She initially focused on a small component used to deploy the antennas on the spacecraft's main instrument. "The first time I tested my mechanism, I was terrified," she said. About as big as a box of tissues, the component was tested on a full-size shaker table. "It was just this little mechanism sitting by itself. The test is loud, and you can see the mechanism moving," added Rhodes-Wickett. "We had a failure in our first round of testing. We had to redesign and retest the mechanism in a few months' time to get it certified as spaceworthy." The Surface Water and Ocean Topography satellite (SWOT) is seen getting locked into a thermal vacuum chamber during one of the mission’s final tests at Thales Alenia Space’s facility near Cannes, France. Credit: CNES/Thales Alenia Space After passing that retest, the mechanism was connected to larger and larger systems that were finally integrated into the complete SWOT spacecraft. Every phase of spacecraft assembly creates new connections and presents another avenue for human error to creep in, so it ends with another round of tests. Rhodes-Wickett's mechanism passed vibration testing three more times since that first experience. "Each test you pass is a relief," she said, "but by the time you get to the third or fourth test, your stress level is much lower." The mechanism is part of SWOT's new radar instrument, which is the first of its kind in space. The Ka-band Radar Interferometer, or KaRIn, has two radar antennas mounted on mechanical arms. Once SWOT is in orbit, the arms will unfold from opposite sides of the spacecraft and extend until the antennas are almost 33 feet (10 meters) apart. Just as the space between your eyes helps you to judge distance and depth better, the space between KaRIn's two antennas helps the instrument reveal more details about Earth's water. But if the process isn't almost perfect—if the mechanical arms don't extend fully or the antennas are misaligned by even a few thousandths of a degree—KaRIn can't make the hoped-for measurements. Risky business "It's a unique part of a career at NASA that we're always trying to build stuff that's never been built before," said JPL's Eric Slimko, chief mechanical engineer on SWOT. That means every NASA payload starts with an unknown risk factor. Most missions gain some sense of the risk level by deploying prototype instruments on aircraft and in labs, but there's still the (literally) sky-high additional challenge of adapting the technology to survive launch and work in space. "We don't have the capability of eliminating all that risk by an analysis on a piece of paper," he said. "We have to test it." Even off-the-shelf parts are certified. Designing tests that could prove the folding arm and antenna assembly will perform as well in orbit as they do on Earth was "very, very challenging," Slimko said. "For one thing, we can't turn off gravity. But we developed a verification program that, even though we cannot re-create the exact flight environment on the ground, we still have complete confidence that it will work in space." Carrying out the program required dozens of JPL engineers to spend weeks or months at the Thales Alenia Space facility in Toulouse, France, working with colleagues from the French space agency Centre Nationale d'Études Spatiales (CNES) to complete the series of tests as the spacecraft was assembled. The spacecraft includes hardware from not only CNES and NASA but also the United Kingdom and Canadian space agencies, with each team monitoring the performance of its own parts during testing. Now almost all that remains is the ultimate test: the launch itself. The engineers are more than ready. "It's fun to have a baby that you literally dreamed up, helped to grow, and now you're walking it to the finish line," Rhodes-Wickett said. "It's really exciting to see something that you've poured so much time and effort into go on and make a difference in the world."

Yelan Gameplay Analysis
Now that Yelan is finally here I can finally experience her kit firsthand and give my general impressions of how well she plays, what her power level is, and what sorts of roles she can play in your team.
Abilities
To start, I just want to say a quick thing about her Elemental Skill, and that’s about its non-combat applications. It’s an alternative, high-speed method of movement that has some potential, but unfortunately it only lasts for five seconds. With Yelan’s Constellation level 1, she gets an additional charge of her elemental skill which theoretically extends the duration to 10 seconds, but that still isn’t any better than Sayu’s Elemental Skill. Sadly I don’t think Yelan is moving the “speed meta” forward.
With that out of the way, I’ll start with Yelan’s special Charged Attack, the “Breakthrough Barb.” This attack scales off of her HP (this is true of all Yelan’s relevant abilities, so I won’t mention it from here on out) and it does a pretty good chunk of damage. It’s not as much as her Elemental Skill, but it has AoE and it’s got a very short charge time so I believe it’s worth using.
Yelan needs to be in the “Breakthrough” state to use this attack though which requires her to “be out of combat” for at least 5 seconds or to have regained it through the use of her Elemental Skill. Through some testing it appears that “out of combat” means having no enemies aggro’d, so if Yelan is off-field for 5 seconds but you have aggro, she will not get the Breakthrough state. Something to keep in mind.
Skill
Her Elemental Skill lets her easily damage multiple enemies even if they’re not tightly grouped together and it’s quite strong. I was hitting 40k Vaporizes with this thing in the Test Run and that build doesn’t have ANY Hydro DMG Bonus for some odd reason and is otherwise on an Emblem of Severed Fate artifact set. You could easily hit way higher numbers with this ability, making it similar to Itto’s Elemental Skill in the sense that it just does a ton of damage and is really good overall.
Burst
Now for that Elemental Burst. For most players, this will be the main draw of her kit, and seeing how similar it is to Xingqiu’s, it makes sense to compare the two a bit.
Yelan’s Burst costs 70 energy and has a duration of 15 seconds, which makes it cheaper to cast than Xingqiu’s while lasting the same amount of time. However, with his second Constellation level Xingqiu’s burst lasts longer and has higher uptime. He also gets a lot of energy generation from his Constellation levels.
In terms of damage output, Yelan is almost undoubtedly superior. I compared her to my Xingqiu, who currently has a level 90 4-Star weapon and the following stats:
Level 71
1,449 ATK
96.6% CRIT DMG
81.6% Hydro DMG Bonus and 20% Elemental Burst DMG Bonus
Level 9 Elemental Burst Talent
The Test Run Yelan is level 80, has a level 80 5-star weapon, 32,556 HP, 172.4% CRIT DMG, a level 8 Burst talent, and a 51.7% Burst DMG Bonus. Based on these stats I would say she’s about on par with my Xingqiu in terms of build quality, accounting for her having less DMG% than him, and she does roughly double the damage that my Xingqiu does. I think a fully built Yelan compared to a fully built Xingqiu will be significantly stronger.
There are a few other important points regarding Yelan’s Elemental Burst. Firstly, it actually has an initial hit of damage, which isn’t very strong but it’s something Xingqiu does not have. Second, the attack speed of her Elemental Burst is at least on par with Xingqiu’s, if not a bit faster. And finally, it does allow you to consistently hit Vaporize reactions with characters like Xiangling.
Considering how overpowered Xingqiu’s Elemental Burst already was, the fact that Yelan’s is almost strictly better makes it insanely potent.
Constellation
Finally, I want to go over Yelan’s Constellation. It’s pretty solid throughout, I don’t think any of the levels are duds and they all serve to make Yelan herself stronger.
Level 1 is rather straighforward, as it simply gives Yelan an additional charge for her Elemental Skill. This is pretty good because the ability does a lot of damage and it helps generate energy for Yelan and the party.
Level 2 amps her Elemental Burst considerably by firing an additional attack as frequently as every 1.8 seconds that deals 15% of her HP as damage. This is a few percentage points more than the damage her joint attacks normally do, even at high talent levels, so it’s even a little bit stronger and those attacks already do a lot of damage.
Level 3 is a three level boost to her Elemental Burst. Her Burst getting an increase at this level as opposed to level 5 is nice since it’s her main way of dealing damage.
Level 4 is pretty interesting; it provides up to 40% bonus HP to the whole party in increments of 10% for each enemy hit by her Elemental Skill, and this bonus lasts 25 seconds. So this not only benefits Yelan, but other HP scalers in the party as well, and maintaining 100% uptime on this buff is trivial.
Level 5 is +3 to Skill level.
Level 6 gives Yelan access to another state called “Mastermind” when she uses her Elemental Burst. When in Mastermind, Yelan’s Normal Attacks are essentially converted to Breakthrough Barbs that deal Charged Attack DMG and deal 156% of the damage of regular Breakthrough Barbs. Because... why not, I guess? However, the Mastermind state is cleared after 20 seconds have passed or after Yelan performs five of these enhanced Normal Attacks.
Weapons
Yelan has a few good weapons, but overall I feel her options for weapons that actually benefit her are limited. Her best-in-slot is obviously her signature weapon, Aqua Simulacra. None of the other 5-star weapons really compare, but Skyward Harp isn’t terrible if you have it. For 4-star weapons, I recommend something with Energy Recharge to help with fueling her 70 energy Burst. You can also run Blackcliff Warbow or The Viridescent Hunt for their CRIT stats.
Artifacts
For artifacts I’d recommend Emblem of Severed Fate as it’s likely her best set, giving her Energy Recharge and a lot of DMG% for her Burst. However, two pieces of the Heart of Depth set combined with two pieces of Noblesse Oblige should be very similar in terms of a damage increase. The 15% Hydro DMG Bonus benefits Yelan’s other attacks as well and you can still maintain some of the Elemental Burst DMG Bonus.
Oh yeah, and for the primary stats on your artifacts I’d say go for HP% on the Sands of Eon, Hydro DMG Bonus on the Goblet of Eonothem, and CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the Circlet of Logos, whichever gets you closer to the golden ratio of 2 DMG for every 1 Rate. You can also go for Energy Recharge on the Sands if you need it.
Substats are gonna be standard stuff. Go for Energy Recharge until you have enough, I’d say 180% is probably sufficient. Then stack CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG as much as you can. HP% is also nice and can increase your damage but it’s not something you should focus on.
Final Thoughts
Yelan is an exceptionally strong and flexible character who’s good in a lot of situations, but shines best in situations where she faces multiple opponents. She works best as a sub DPS and/or burst support to do a lot of off-field damage while also enabling powerful DPS characters like Hu Tao, Xiangling, and Ayaka to trigger reactions.
I see her as an excellent addition to Genshin Impact’s roster, who can replace Xingqiu in a lot of teams or function as a second Xingqiu if you have two teams that want him for the Spiral Abyss. You could probably even fuck up enemies with a team using both Xingqiu AND Yelan. Double Hydro spam.
Her play design is very streamlined and it doesn’t have the issue that characters like Albedo and Gorou struggle with, which is that some of their kit deals damage based on DEF and some deals damage based on ATK like normal. On the other hand, all of Yelan’s relevant abilities scale from her HP.
I’ve been wondering for a while when we’d get a character to “replace” Xingqiu, as his power level is unusually high for a 4-star character. Don’t get me wrong, I think that’s a good thing, but it’s something that never really made sense from a logical standpoint, as a 4-star character being stronger than many 5-star characters is a bit weird.
But I digress. I think that wraps up my thoughts on Yelan’s strength. I think she’s worth simping for if you really want to get the most out of her, but she’s already so powerful that you really don’t need to. You can enjoy the character just as well at Constellation level 0. I’m looking forward to eventually building her properly and seeing what she can really do.

Quackity and Schlatt’s Relationship - More Complicated Then You Think
(this is all /rp and about the characters from the dream smp! pls assume i have the dignity not to write analysis of youtubers)
recently there was a bit of discourse surrounding the relationship between Quackity and Schlatt floating around on tumblr. tho i never saw the original post that sparked the conversation, i did see a few posts that were inspired by it mentioning how they disliked that the original post implied that Quackity and Schlatt were mutually abusive and/or equally bad for each other
since i never saw the original post, i can't be sure if that's what the op meant to imply. it's not really my place to speak about a post that i never got the chance to read. BUT the conversation that was caused by the post in question did get me thinking about how this fandom treats the relationship between Quackity and Schlatt and how little nuance there is in discussions about it
now before i say anything else, i want to make a few things clear:
i don't think Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship is mutually abusive. no need to worry about hearing that from this post
i don't look down on ppl who have different interpretations of their relationship
there will be potentially triggering content in this analysis. i will place a quick warning whenever i think one is needed!
their relationship is romantic in canon and therefore i’ll be treating it as romantic
alright now that we’ve gotten all of that out of the way, we can finally get on with the analysis! i apologize for how long this is gonna be
part 1: let's talk relationship!
i think we can all agree that Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was not exactly a healthy one. tho it didn't start out that way, it certainly turned into what could be read as abusive or toxic (i personally read their relationship as being abusive in its later half due to evidence provided by the text, but i understand if others prefer to view it as just toxic instead)
but what happened that led to their partnership ending so badly? what caused all of this mess?
well, it was a lot of things. but we will get to that later. let's talk relationship first!
from the very beginning, Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was pretty one-sided. tho they both clearly liked each other as friends/partners in crime both before and after the election (yes they did interact before the election!) Quackity was also interested in Schlatt romantically- something that Schlatt wasn't fully committed to
as we all know from the infamous date stream and from a few other moments, Quackity and Schlatt enjoyed playfully flirting with each other- tho it was pretty obvious that Quackity was more serious about it then Schlatt was even tho Schlatt considered Quackity to be very attractive
in my opinion, Quackity is someone who wants a long term relationship, while Schlatt is more interested in flings. this can be seen in Schlatt refusing to marry Quackity and rejecting most of his advances while Quackity tried his best to convince him to feel otherwise. Tommy put it best: Quackity is just one of Schlatt’s many bitches U_U
to Quackity, the romantic aspect of their relationship was very important. because Schlatt never actually shot him down or told him that he didn't feel the same way, Quackity took that to mean that they were truly in love. Schlatt on the other hand wasn't very invested in the romantic side of things but clearly valued Quackity’s looks and his support as an ally against Pogtopia so he never fully rejected Quackity’s advances
this might not seem like too big of a deal considering the other things that happened between them, but i think it shows part of the nature of their relationship. there is a lot of miscommunication and, on Schlatt’s end, manipulation of emotions. love is a strong motivator for loyalty and Schlatt is a smart guy who would know how to use that to his advantage
but that isn't to say that Schlatt didn't ever care about Quackity!
Schlatt is a complicated guy and figuring out when he's actually being genuine can be pretty difficult. but i think there are some moments that point to Schlatt genuinely caring about Quackity
when he was alive, Schlatt was pretty paranoid. not as paranoid as Wilbur, but certainly up there. but there were never any times where he truly questioned Quackity’s loyalties after his first day as president. Schlatt also seemed truly upset that Quackity betrayed him, bringing up their status as partners in crime while ranting about how much it hurt him and singling Quackity out while talking about how he had been abandoned during his time of need
Schlatt also spent a lot of time sulking after Quackity betrayed him and whining to Ponk about needing a new bitch. this is in contrast to how angry he was after Tubbo betrayed him- both during and after the execution
there is also the situation with the Big Man Gym
after being dead for a while, Schlatt contacted Quackity despite them leaving off on bad terms and asked for him to visit him in his cave gym. when Quackity showed up, Schlatt talked about how he valued their relationship and the good times they had together. tho this can easily be seen as emotional manipulation, Schlatt’s a lot smarter than he seems and- if he doesnt have memory issues due to being a ghost- would know that Quackity’s opinion of him was in the dump at the time of his death and most likely wouldn't have improved since then. Fundy has a higher opinion of Schlatt than Quackity does and is someone who obviously craves validation. but Schlatt went to Quackity first anyway and trusted him to help revive him
i think that this is all good evidence that points towards Schlatt truly caring about Quackity as much as someone like Schlatt can care about anyone- or at least valuing him as a companion
i also think that it is pretty common knowledge that Quackity cared about Schlatt- and possibly still does- but i will go over a bit of evidence that i haven’t already mentioned before we move on to the next part
Quackity tried multiple times to impress Schlatt (like when he lied about knowing how to play chess), would attempt to help Schlatt when he was drowning in water, sadly said that they could have had something together while Schlatt was dying in the caravan, and implied that he wouldn’t have left if Schlatt hadn’t taken down the white house. Quackity also willingly went to the Big Man Gym after being summoned there by Schlatt and wanted to revive him long before the revive book became part of the story
part 2: what made it fall apart?
everything i've said so far has been pretty interesting (hopefully) but it doesn't really answer the original question: what went wrong to turn Schlatt and Quackity’s mainly positive partnership sour?
well it comes down to two things in my opinion: their incompatible desires for political power and Schlatt’s deteriorating mental state
Quackity wanted political power from the beginning and wasn't afraid to be open about his desires. he pooled his votes with Schlatt because Schlatt offered him the position of vice president, something Wilbur and Tommy weren’t willing to give to him. tho Quackity obviously cared about L’Manburg and wanted to see good things for it, he also desired power and was willing to team up with someone he didn't fully agree with to get said power
at 32:40 in this video, Quackity talks about how in politics everyone uses everyone so it's alright if Schlatt is using him. he then talks about how he doesn't want to be a man with no power and how he understands that Schlatt’s main goal is also gaining/keeping power. Quackity also shows a bit of his naughty evil side by saying if he overthrows Schlatt then the fun ends too early!
(side note: these two are pretty evenly matched in intelligence and manipulativeness, i love it!)
it's a bit of a fandom misconception that Quackity was a love sick yes man during the Manburg era. tho Quackity did want to please Schlatt and was in love with him, he didn't shy away from standing up to or disagreeing with Schlatt when he believed it was needed
at around 26:12 of this video, Quackity and Schlatt meet together in private and Quackity tells Schlatt off for playing down his role in the power structure of Manburg. since this was very early in Schlatt’s reign, Quackity shows no fear towards him and confidently tells him not to treat him like that
Quackity also broke Niki out of jail after regretting letting her be put there in the first place, tried to convince Schlatt to not execute Tubbo, jumped in front of Fundy when Schlatt tried to attack him, tried to stop Schlatt from tearing down buildings, and attempted to protect the white house he built from being destroyed by Schlatt. these are not behaviors of a pure yes man but of someone who, despite fear, has the confidence to speak up for himself even when disrespected by someone in authority
Quackity has always been someone who wanted power and someone who was never a yes man to authority. this contradicts with how Schlatt believed Quackity should act as vice president. in Schlatt’s opinion, Quackity’s one job is to sit around looking pretty while Schlatt does all of the important things and holds all of the power. Schlatt was a big fan of promoting people to worthless positions of authority and its pretty obvious that he considered vice president to be similar to the fake positions he gave Fundy and Tubbo
in the end, this was a big part of what destroyed their relationship. like it or not, Quackity’s a power hungry guy and always has been. he didn't like that Schlatt constantly shoved him aside and refused to listen to him
now onto the nasty bit...Schlatt’s mental state
cw for mentions of alcoholism, mental deterioration, and abusive behavior
before i say anything more, i just want to say that i don't think having issues with alcoholism makes someone a bad person. i personally have some issues with such things so it would be pretty stupid of me to say being an alcoholic makes you a bad person. alcoholism does negatively affect your cognitive functions tho and, combined with other health issues, can cause some of the very serious mental problems that Schlatt clearly struggles with
throughout the Manburg era, Schlatt’s mental state rapidly deteriorated. he went from a pretty normal- if eccentric- guy who had a drinking problem, to someone who was delirious most of the time. it's a sharp and noticeable decline that caused a lot of pain for Quackity due to Schlatt often taking his excess aggression out on him by yelling at him and/or belittling him. tho Schlatt often belittled Quackity before he went fully off of the deep end, it was never as aggressive as it was when he was in this delirious state of mind
it was during one of Schlatt’s most aggressive and delirious moments that he tore down the white house despite Quackity’s protests. as we all know, this caused Quackity to snap and kill Schlatt (it's more complicated than that but we will get back to that). as mentioned previously, Quackity implied that he would have stayed with Schlatt if the white house hadn’t been destroyed
in my opinion, these two things combined are the biggest reasons why Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship fell apart. their differing desires for power were not compatible and Schlatt’s awful behavior while his mental state declined caused a rift between them that couldn't be fixed
part 3: how toxic was it really?
cw for emotional and physical abuse
as i said all the way back in part one, Quackity and Schlatt’s relationship was not healthy. i have provided many examples in the other two parts that shine a light onto why it wasn't healthy, but i didn't show the entire picture
there are many moments that show exactly how Schlatt treated Quackity when he was acting at his worst and none of them are pretty. tho Schlatt was never truly aggressive with his insults until he started to go off of the deep end, that doesn't mean that what he said wasn't negatively affecting Quackity
Schlatt would belittle, insult, and mock Quackity for his appearance not being up to his standards, for his opinions, and for being emotional in ways that Schlatt disapproved of like crying. tho Schlatt would often brush off Quackity’s reactions towards this cruel behavior, it's very clear that Schlatt’s treatment of him has stuck with Quackity in many ways
Quackity is very sensitive about his appearance and it seems to be because of how badly Schlatt hurt his self esteem during their time together. Schlatt tied Quackity’s worth to his appearance and then would claim he wasn't meeting his standards of attractiveness. we can tell that this has stuck with Quackity because of his sensitivity towards people bringing up the scar on his face (something that greatly alters his physical appearance) and he still reacts very badly when Schlatt calls him the mocking nickname flatty patty
speaking of flatty patty- that stupid insult shockingly has a lot of weight in Quackity’s relationship with Schlatt. tho its something the audience is meant to laugh at, the nickname also shows just how little Schlatt respects Quackity because he's constantly throwing it around just to make Quackity upset. Schlatt’s last words are flatty patty all because he wanted to get in one last dig at his ex and ruin Quackity’s day even further
Schlatt tends to do a lot of things that are intended to make Quackity upset. tearing down the room Quackity made for him in the white house is the biggest example of this- especially since Schlatt mentions how it will upset Quackity while he does it. you can see this moment at around 19:10 of this video
and now let's get into the elephant in the room when it comes to these two: Quackity was scared of Schlatt. tho we never really see Schlatt hit or attack Quackity physically outside of their confrontation at the white house or their confrontation in the caravan, these clips imply that Quackity was at the very least scared of Schlatt physically harming him in some way
as for actually physically harming him, Schlatt hits Quackity multiple times with a pickaxe and with his fists during their white house fight. Quackity hits Schlatt a couple times too, tho these are all primarily defensive blows since he is trying to protect himself and his property. he also chases after Quackity with a bow after Quackity’s plan to trick him into signing Manburg over to the Pogtopians fails and hits him multiple times during the caravan confrontation
all of this evidence shows that Schlatt was an abusive (or at least toxic) partner towards Quackity and someone who greatly affected him in many ways
tho Quackity did a few questionable things throughout his relationship with Schlatt (such as trying to get Schlatt to have sex with him despite Schlatt not being interested as shown in the later half of this video) and did some downright morally wrong things during his time as vice president of Manburg, no one deserves the pain of an abusive relationship- even a person who has done bad things
as a brief side note before we move on because i know people will bring it up if i skip over it, Quackity did- and most likely still does- want to literally possess Glatt. he brought up reviving Schlatt and using him as a political pawn after Schlatt’s funeral and during their conversation at the Big Man Gym Quackity talked about owning Glatt and having him work at Las Nevadas with no pay
this is unsettling behavior to say the least but this essay isnt about the aftermath of their relationship so much as it is about their relationship when it was actually happening. maybe i will make another post talking more about how Quackity’s relationship with Schlatt affected him even after Schlatt’s death and/or about Quackity’s relationship with Glatt
part 4: final thoughts
i’m not exactly sure why the nuances in Schlatt and Quackity’s relationship get lost when it comes to the fandom, but it’s pretty disappointing to see. hopefully this essay can help people take a closer look at canon and maybe even help them find something interesting that they’d want to explore!
tho the point of this essay is to clear up any misconceptions and hopefully add some nuance to the conversations surrounding Schlatt and Quackity’s relationship, i also wrote it in hopes of showing people how fascinating these two partners in crime were back in the Manburg days. i didn’t cover everything but i think i did a pretty good job for my first analysis post in the dsmp fandom
also since you read to the end, i must say thank you! it really does means a lot to me that you did. i hope you enjoyed and maybe even learned something. this post can be used as a resource if anyone wants to use it as such
here’s a tiny devil Quackity for your troubles <3

Why isn't Nightwing a bigger deal? He has all of Batman's skills and Superman's faith in humanity and is arguably the most beloved hero in the DCU, but most people seem to know him either as the leader of the N̶o̶t̶ ̶J̶L̶ Teen Ttians or just Robin.
Thank you for asking me about Nightwing, I've been wanting to write a piece about him for a while now. The short version is that everyone who claims Dick becoming Nightwing was him "moving out of Batman's shadow and becoming his own man" is completely wrong.
Tumblr media
Dick Grayson is a fantastic character, someone who saved Bruce Wayne in-universe both by forcing Batman to grow up a bit, and the countless times he saved Batman's life as his partner whether as Robin or Nightwing. Dick saved Batman in the real world as well, hard to believe but Batman was actually in danger of being cancelled due to poor sales early on. Enter Robin, a young daredevil audience stand in the creators hoped would get kids interested in reading Batman. And it worked! Sales on Batman doubled once Robin showed up which is crazy to think about, but Dick Grayson has always been a popular character. Cartoons like Teen Titans, Batman: The Animated Series, and The Batman only helped grow his audience.
Character-wise, Dick Grayson really does fill a number of crucial roles in the DCU. For Batman, Dick is proof that Batman is a positive force. Meeting Batman helped change Dick for the better, helped him heal after his parents died. With Dick, Batman can take comfort in knowing that yes, he has made a difference in the world for at least one orphan boy, which is all he wanted when he lost his parents himself. To the wider DCU, Dick is a friendly face who convinces others that Batman is competent and not a complete asshole. He took this kid in, trained him to be one of the best heroes the DCU has seen, and did it all out of the kindness of his heart. That someone like Dick can confront the evils of Gotham and not break means there's still hope for that city. As Robin, Dick has led the Titans and is an icon in his own right as The Sidekick, the original, the one every other Robin is built around copying or contrasting. The one all other superhero sidekicks are drawing on as a basis. As Robin Dick Grayson is very much on Batman's level.
Tumblr media
Just not as Nightwing. As Nightwing, Dick has been a second rate Daredevil which means he's a third rate Batman (fully prepared to get hate for this but I've read and enjoyed the Miller and Bendis DD runs so I feel entitled to my opinion). A typical Nightwing run tends to go like this: Moving to Bludhaven (which is Gotham... but WORSE!), Dick Grayson usually enrolls in a pointless job we don't care about in order to provide some meaningless soap opera drama that doesn't go anywhere. Patrolling the city as Nightwing, he fights a variety of bad guys who are usually rather lame and unthreatening, with his big bad being a Kingpin knockoff called Blockbuster. Villains are fought, long running plotlines are set up, then everything is abandoned because it's Batfamily event time, and Dick has to run back to Gotham in order to play sidekick again. Usually his involvement is completely superfluous and it would've been better if the writer had gotten to opt out. By the time we finally get back to Nightwing's solo plotlines, the audience has usually ceased to care and the run gets cut short.
That's how Nightwing has been since the New 52 at least. Anyone who thinks that's "becoming their own man" is out of their mind. Dick is so thoroughly in Batman's shadow that he got shot in the head and spent a longer time as "Ric" which everyone fucking hated and sold like shit, than he did as Agent Grayson which was extremely well-received. Reiterating: Ric went on longer than Grayson because of a fucking Batman plotpoint Tom King wanted where Bruce was sad and cut off from the Batfamily because of Dick getting shot. Not just calling out King either, how many times was Kyle Higgins Nightwing run derailed because of Scott Snyder's crossovers? Or how about that entire run getting dumped to the side because Johns wanted to out Dick during Forever Evil, a Justice League/Lex Luthor story? DC has repeatedly made their contempt for Nightwing clear, he's Batman's sidekick still in their eyes, and he serves whatever story role the Batman writer wants.
Tumblr media
Hell his best stories tend to have been the ones where he's not Nightwing. He was Robin in a good chunk of the Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans run. Morrison really showcased his depth as a character when they wrote him as Batman, their time with Dick under the cowl was actually one of the first Batman runs I ever read, and no Nightwing run has ever matched it in terms of quality in my humble opinion. Scott Snyder's work with DickBats also was a high point for the character, showing Dick as competent and examining his relationship with Gotham and the Gordons. King and Seeley gave him one of the best comic runs with Grayson, a series where he wasn't even a "superhero" technically! When it comes to actual pre-New 52 Nightwing runs that are highly recommended where he *is* Nightwing, there's Chuck Dixon and uhhhhhhh... Tomasi's brief run before Dick became Batman? It's not exactly an overwhelming list.
Look there has been good work done with Nightwing, I'm not claiming there hasn't been. Tim Seeley wrote a great run with Nightwing Rebirth. Seeley fleshed out Dick's Rogues Gallery with cool new ones like Raptor, he brought back old foes like Dr. Hurt (why oh why couldn't you have brought back Flamingo too?), he gave Dick's world some character it solely needed. Bludhaven under Seeley is pretty much the only time I've really felt like it lived up to being Dick's city.
Tumblr media
The problem with fictional cities is you have to put in the work to give them the character of real cities. You have to make the cities feel like characters in their own right. Gotham is the best example of this, it's a character all it's own, one that tells you a lot about Batman and his cast. In contrast Bludhaven is usually one of the worst. Any place that wants to claim to be worse than the city that is built over the gate to hell and gets wrecked every other month by the Arkham freaks has to really put in the work to compete. Simply put, Bludhaven typically fails utterly. There's nothing about it that makes you really buy it's worse than Gotham, I mean does anyone really think Nightwing's Rogues wouldn't get their lunches eaten by Batman's? No, no one genuinely buys that. When Bludhaven claims to be worse, it just comes across as tryhard, an attribute that does end up telling you about Nightwing in unintentional ways.
So Seeley didn't do that. Instead he created a city built for a hero like Dick Grayson. Someone who is bright and flashy, but does have an element of darkness to him. Someone who loves the spotlight, but often uses it to obscure. Seeley turned Bludhaven into Las Vegas, and that was the fucking best concept for Bludhaven I have ever seen, it makes so much sense. Las Vegas is the "Entertainment Capital of the World" and isn't that the perfect city for a hero who got their start working in the circus? Isn't the aesthetics of the gleaming casinos, the glamorous sex appeal of the performers, and the spectacle of the shows, all being used to cover up the seediness of mob bosses meeting backstage perfect for Nightwing? It's so utterly unlike New York City, yet Las Vegas is still dangerous, it's got a crime culture all it's own. Seeley used it to great effect, as did Humphries during his brief run, and I will always be pissed that DC didn't continue to use it. That should have stuck around and been the definitive look for Bludhaven.
Tumblr media
How Seeley's take on Bludhaven was treated feels like a small scale version of how Nightwing in general gets treated. Whenever creators pitched ideas for him, if editorial thought there was potential to break big, they asked for those ideas to be repurposed for Batman instead. Anything big or good gets repurposed for Batman or tossed to the side so Nightwing can go back to his default: having irrelevant adventures in a city that is supposedly worse than Gotham but can't live up to it. Just like how Nightwing is supposedly better than Batman but never gets to show it. Goddamn it's so frustrating seeing his potential get wasted like that.
The Nightwing book should be one of DC's most ambitious books in terms of storytelling. You can go from traditional superhero stories, to romantic soap opera, to spy stories, to crime noir, to horror, to cosmic adventures, and ALL of them would fit because Nightwing is someone who has a foot in both Gotham and Metropolis. He's got friends everywhere on every team, and has been a hero longer than most Leaguers have at this point. No reason DC should still be afraid to let him loose and insisting on hewing close to what Dixon established almost over 30 years ago is only holding him back. At the very least get him some better Rogues, why the hell didn't he get to keep Professor Pyg? That's Dick's villain not Bruce's! Bullshit that they didn't let Dick keep him. Hopefully Flamingo comes back, with a slight revamp I think he'd make a great reoccurring Nightwing Rogue.
Luckily it does look somewhat like Nightwing fans have reason to be optimistic. While Taylor isn't to my taste, DC clearly views him as a "big" writer, and that they put him on Nightwing says a lot. Taylor has been selling well so far, so hopefully he gets to tell his story, hilarious that even he lampshaded having to write Dick running over to Gotham for another tie-in after Taylor's big opening arc was all about Dick committing himself and his money to Bludhaven. Scott Snyder is apparently working on a Black Label Nightwing book which will explore how he's a different detective than Bruce. The Gotham Knights video game has him as one of the main stars, and while Titans is... controversial, it's one of the most popular streaming shows and Dick is the main character. There's a lot of content coming that features him in the starring role, and that will only help his star rise further.
Tumblr media
For the first time in, well, ever it feels like DC may be serious about elevating him. Time will tell if it pays off, but I for one choose to be optimistic that the 2020s will be a turning point for Dick Grayson where Nightwing becomes hugely popular in his own right. Not just as Batman's sidekick.

If there’s one thing Ive come out of Resident Evil Village with, its WintersBerg, and boy do I have a lot of ideas about them ✨💖
@merryandrewsworld has been my main source of inspiration, and a lot of these drawings were done while even talking to her 💖💖 So thank you my dearest ball of sunshine for talking to me everyday about RE8 and coming up with all kinds of cute WintersBerg headcanons with me! 🥰
Tumblr media
I honestly refuse any other canon then that they teamed up and are now living a domestic life together with Rose. Whether that’s in or out of the Village✨
This Karl is still a lot for Ethan to handle at first after they defeat Miranda but then they slowly start to get attached to each other more than either of them predicted (Karl much sooner than Ethan)
They’re also the cutest dads ever and you can’t change my mind about this. They love Rose very much and will do anything to keep her safe and happy.
Bonus: I did a short simple little animation for one of my drawings. I still don’t know which version I like since I honestly can’t draw his hat well to save my life lmao 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I honestly live for a “Soft and Uncertain about Love” Karl. A man who isn’t used to gentle touches or kindness or even just having someone on his side. A Karl who’s probably never been kissed before, whose never felt romance until now. mostly because I believe the head canon that he was taken by Miranda as a child (Is this canon?) And as much as the tag seems to be mainly full of “Daddy Dom” Karl, it just doesn’t truly fit my perception of him. Not that I see him as some “uwu baby boy” no no he’s still very much hardened and bitter, very closed off and cold with walls he’s built around himself for decades. He tries to hide his trauma and paranoia with witty remarks and his eccentric larger than life personality. But Ethan is ridiculously patient and really good at slowly chipping at those walls until he’s able to slip right past them. And though Heisenberg will never admit it, it feels really good to have someone he feels safe with now, someone who he doesn’t have to be scared of vulnerability with.
Anyways sorry for rambling. I hope one day I’ll learn how to fully animate a kiss.
