Cinderella’s Sister. 8
Story: 8
Acting: 9
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: the Innocent Man (kdrama) ; Padam Padam (kdrama)
So this is an oldie classic for me. It’s from 2010 and yes it can get over the top sometimes and yes the storyline is sometimes 🤪 but it’s a fantastic melodrama especially in the first half of the series. I thought it always was sort of original in the sense that you had a main character, Eun Ju, who is basically the protagonist that sets off everything in motion being the evil stepsister but you sympathize with her, or at least I did, I don’t know. Honestly I loved all the characters in this, everyone was really written well, including the eye candy fodder of Ok Taec Yeon (gotta love me some of the 2pm youngin’ days) He was absolutely adorable in this although sometimes painful to watch since yes his character was the awful second male lead syndrome type where you know the relationship is sunk before it even begins but you always hope for the ship to sail. Overall in a nutshell this is a really enjoyable drama if you like over the top heartfelt melodramas.

Sunny (2011) Dir. Kang Hyung Chul
We'll meet again. If you ignore us because your life is too good, we'll go and punish you. If you hide because your life sucks, we'll go and make it better. I don't know who will die first among us, but until that day... No, even beyond that day... We, Sunny, will never break up.

DRAMA REVIEW I Crash Course in Romance (2023)
This drama has all of the right elements: a solid cast that delivers, good directing and an interesting subject matter. The story started strong, I was even on board with the murder mystery but, in the third part of the drama, the script started to loose its footing. No longer able to figure out what story were they telling.
In many ways, I feel there were several missed opportunity. Crash Course in Romance could have told a good and solid story commenting on society’s prejudices on what a family should be or look like. There was also plenty of room for a proper storyline about the mental health of students going trough an incredible amount of stress and how they coped. How the competitive mothers are willing to bully, adults and children alike, in order for their kids to get into university and their impossible expectations that directly impacted in every aspect of the kids’s well being. By the end of the last episode, male lead doesn’t see anything wrong about kids pushing themselves this hard, except when they collapse, which in my book that means very little character development. Male lead also suffers from half of the story of a eating disorder and we are supposed to just, what?, let it go? There’s never a proper follow up on it or how it was connected to the murder mystery that the drama concentrated most of its time with. A mystery that was resolved in one scene alone, rushed and swiftly under the rug. Almost like we didn’t spend fifteen of sixteen episodes trying to figure out what was happening with this particular storyline.
We only got proper real development and resolution about the issues regarding the kids and mothers, on the last episode, in a epilogue like montage showing us where each character was. The character growth, throughout the run of the drama, came there was came from the teens and the leads. Everything else was almost like an afterthought.
None of this means this is a bad or frustrating drama. On the contrary, despite its shortcomings, is a really fun story with lovable characters. I can recommend it for that alone: entertaining value.

The King: Eternal monarch
Genre: fantasy, romance
Episodes: 16
Starring: Lee Min-Ho, Woo Do-Hwan, Kim Go-Eun, Kim Kyung-Nam, Lee Jung-Jin
Synopsis: In 1994, the king of Kingdom of Corea is murdered by his brother Lee Lim, who seeks to possess a legendary flute that holds supernatural powers. King's 8 years old son (prince Lee Gon) tries to stop him and the flute is cut unto two pieces. Small prince in saved by a mysterious figure and Lee Lim slips away only with half of the broken flute. 25 years later, king Lee Gon is still haunted by what happened when he was a child and the mystery behind the police badge left by his savior. The police badge he held was issued on November 11, 2019 for Lieutenant Jeong Tae-Eul. Lee Gon discoveres the magical powers of the flute and travels to parallel world where he finally meets detective Jeong Tae-Eul.
Positives: I was little bit sceptical at the begining, it was kind of cheezy, rushed, the chemistry between the main romantic duo did not worked for me and I was confused by many scenes that seemingly did not conect with the plot. But it was jus a build up and in the midle of the series the story was a rolley coaster. I was surprised how the writers are able to manage all the time jumps, parallel worlds, all the side plots and characters. The cast was great, the main characters were great, but I would like to highlight Woo Do-Hwan and his dual role, because that was was a masterpiece. Also point's for the charismatic villain.
Negatives: It has slower start, and the plot with timetravelling and doppelgangers can be confusing. I would also appreciate more screentime for the antagonist, he was great, but I think he had much bigger potential.
Conclusion: It was really a fun drama. It has everything from funny momets to really sad scenes where I really cryied (Kang Sin-Jae, I am looking at you). The theme of parallel worlds is not original, but it's still interesting and I really liked how this trope was used in the story. At the beginning, I wasn't a big fan of Lee Min-Ho, but when the plot started to progress, he really showed some acting skills. Also, he is tall and handsome and he really looks very regal. They probably couldn't pick better actor for a king.
Action: 6/10 Romance: 8/10 Intriques: 8/10 Blood: 7/10 Whump: 7/10 Friendship: 8/10 Emotions: 8/10 Humor: 5/10

The Devil Judge. 8
Story: 9
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Beyond Evil (kdrama); Taxi Driver (kdrama)
I love dystopia type of scenarios so this storyline was really interesting. Yes in ways it has been done before, but this was very nicely executed. First and foremost the acting in this is what makes this drama so brilliantly brilliant. It’s a very dark series. So if you’re looking for fluffy-ness and romance, it’s nowhere to be seen. No BL either. Maybe a sparkling of hints, but more leaning onto bromance then anything else. Nonetheless this is a excellent gripping, thrilling series. Ji Sung is highlight here. Can you expect any less.😉
