Aziraphale knew that a nightingale has never sung in Berkeley Square before, and may never sing there again, but if it does it will probably mean something.

Suddenly remembering the best and funniest Good Omens fanfiction I ever read which was set at a mutual Heaven and Hell "work party" and all the demons had bets to see who could bed an angel by the end of the night. It was hilarious and of course you read it presuming that Crowley will win but be gentlemanly enough to not claim the prize - which of course is what happens, but at the last minute it hits you around the face by revealling that Beelzebub hooked up with Gabriel
and well.
I think I'm gonna go reread that fic...

My complete and unhinged Metatron analysis
Hello, I have seen that many people are theorizing about Metatron, so I'm here presenting an analysis of who Metatron is, rather his biblical role and how he may be more connected to the Aziraphale and Crowley than we might believe.
-Also, English is not my first language, so please be patient with me-
ANALYSIS OF METATRON AS A FIGURE WITHIN CHRISTIANITY:
Metatron, has always been a controversial figure in Christianity, full of dualisms.
Let's start with its etymologically. The term Metatron has two completely different translations: one comes from the Greek metradromos meaning "he who pursues with vengeance"; or it is also possible that its origin is from the term meta ton thronon which means "closer to the throne". There are many doubts about his true origin, since it is mentioned in non-canonical versions of the Bible, during Genesis*. However, in the most current and official versions of the Bible, it never appears.
While there is nothing official, the most accepted version is that he is actually the prophet Enoch, Noah's grandfather. Enoch -who used to have his own book of the Bible in earlier versions- was a prophet who had the God-given gift of visiting Heaven through different visions. In his 1st vision, Enoch has the mission to intercede with God on behalf of the fallen angels. In another vision, he sees the Cherubim in Heaven, whom he describes as beings of fire. Later, he is taken by the archangel Michael to the highest heaven. Enoch also travels in his visions or dreams to the tree of knowledge. He is supposed to have lived 365 years and, at the end of his visions, Enoch is chosen by God to become the archangel Metatron, a powerful archangel who is also called the little Yahweh.
There is another explanation for his origin: he is the first being of creation, seated at the left hand of the father, which in tradition is associated with Satan.
The Zohar also describes Metatron as "the king of angels" who reigns over the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
When Enoch was on Earth, he devoted himself to writing a book containing the secrets of wisdom until he was taken to Heaven to become an angel. God allowed Enoch to continue this same ministry in Heaven** .
Tumblr media
FUN FACTS:
Metatron was the one who led the Israelites to the Promised Land (Moses).
Metatron is the patron angel of children.
Metatron transmits God's daily orders to the angels Gabriel and Raphael.
Not being an angel from his origin, Metatron is associated with the angels in charge of Death, he supervises them when they help the souls to make their transition from the physical to the spiritual plane.
He is canonically the most powerful archangel in the entire celestial realm, second only to God. His role is similar to Lucifer's original rol, the right hand of God.
The archangel Metatron is in charge of directing the ascension and activation of the human being's light body. Having been human, he knows the path of enlightenment. He represents the potential for transformation and purification of the soul when it sets out to transcend matter to unite with the pure spirit of the Divine. Metatron is in charge of guiding the souls towards the light, towards purity (insert the fact that he asks for coffee with almonds, which in Christianity is related to purification).
Tumblr media
METATRON IN THE LORE OF GOOD OMENS
It is worth mentioning that in the original Good Omens book, Metatron is the only angel that appears besides Aziraphale. While other angels are mentioned, Metatron is the only one who appears, firstly when Zira wants to talk to God, and secondly when Beelzebub and Metatron make presence at the Tadfield airbase to try to convince Adam to restart the end of the world (it is not Gabriel who appears in the book).
And, considering that the 3rd season is based on the sequel to the book that never came out, it makes sense that Metatron would have had a bigger role because he was always a present character.
Tumblr media
HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH CROWLEY AND ZIRA:
So, from all this information, I would like to point out that Metatron not only used to be human and knows the "true path of purification," but he is also in charge of caring the tree of knowledge.
You know, that tree?
Tumblr media
Aziraphale and Crowley represent the two things that oppose his very existence: an angel that is becoming more and more human with each passing day and the Serpent of Temptation that keeps doubting and questioning the edges and the difference between good and evil. These two not only were they not punished, but together they are two extremely powerful entities, perhaps as powerful as he is.
They are a threat… but only together.
Tumblr media
Metatron can see in Aziraphale the very opposite of what he represents, someone who needs to return to the path of divinity:
Aziraphale, the supposed guardian of Eden, who started out as an angel, who gradually transformed into someone with more and more human habits, falling into almost all the deadly sins, in love with the Serpent who tempted humans to eat from the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge. Someone who loves forbidden books and bibles, with a hedonistic and condescending personality who managed to deceive his brother angels for millennia to protect humanity and his earthly life***.
Tumblr media
It would also explain his disdain towards Crowley, why he looked at him with that face: Metatron is the protector of the tree that Crowley managed to corrupt.
Tumblr media
To all this we can add that Metatron/Enoch renounced his humanity to become something superior, while Crowley and Aziraphale consider humanity to be something superior worth defending and loving. They see in humans what Enoch could not see behind his judgment of false celestial purity. They are two supernatural entities who managed to love humanity more than he, a human, ever could.
These parallels are not only born out of my obsession, no. The fact that Metatron has separated them has a much more possible and deep significance.
Narratively, this can only mean one thing: Metatron is the villain, the perfect antagonist to Aziracrow.
Tumblr media
CLARIFICATIONS *Genesis is where the Adam and Eve story is found, the Garden of Eden, the moment that changes Zira and Crowley forever…. **That "book that contained the secrets of wisdom"… is it the book of life? Is Metatron the only one who has access to it? ***I would like to clarify, that for me the real main character of Good Omens is Aziraphale, that's why I find more comparisons with him, followed by Crowley as co-protagonist, but I will continue this theory another day.

Hi! Could you possibly offer insight about the new SAG podcasting guidelines on their website? I run a small fan podcast and am super confused about this issue. I've reached out to SAG and haven't received a response yet, but from what I've seen online from other podcasters it seems like they might now be discouraging fans from talking about movies/TV on podcasts. Is this true? Does this mean we should also stop posting about media in general as fans? Thank you!
Hi Anon!
I feel like I'm tapping the sign a lot, so I've decided that my first sign was too complicated and I've simplified it.
Tumblr media
I believe the version of the post that is crawling around most often is the one Mr. Gaiman shared. For those of you who did not see my follow ups, I encourage you to look at this reblog version where I expanded and clarified.
The TL;DR version is as the above flow chart says: if a studio isn't asking you to do the thing, isn't paying you money, isn't signing a contract with you to do the thing, you're not scabbing.
So unless Amazon or whomever is bankrolling your podcasting endeavor, you're fine.
Note, if you're a podcast and you have ads that are like "You can buy these fancy shorts on Amazon! buy them today!" Amazon the books & fancy shorts sellers is not actually the same as Amazon the AMPTP studio. (even though they are, yes, but they aren't.) So if someone approaches you asking if they can buy an ad slot on your podcast: Fancy Shorts are in, Good Omens Season 2 is out.

I noticed that you went to the GO2 early screening. As someone else who went to an early screening (the NYC one a week and a half earlier) and then later disliked GO2 when I watched the whole thing... did you have a positive or negative feeling about the new season after only seeing the first two episodes?
(Personally, I was cautious and a bit skeptical but pretty optimistic. In retrospect I genuinely think those two episodes were better than most of the rest of what we got, and watching further ended up really disappointing me.)
To be honest I actually immediately disliked the setting that Aziraphale and Crowley met and knew each other as angels, overthrowing the start of the book. I tried having a little hope that maybe they had different forms at the time and genuinely don't remember this interaction they had but no, immediately in episode 2 Aziraphale calls out that he remembers Crowley as an angel. Also, I got really worried at the fact that Heaven noticed that the miracle that Aziraphale and Crowley performed together was super strong -- I thought it would lead up to a reveal that Crowley is actually someone super important in heaven (not the Crowley is Raphael theory...) so I spent the first half of episode 2 worrying with a sinking feeling in my stomach. But I still thought I would give the rest of the season a chance and see if it's overall solid and I was worrying over nothing, and the small things I didn't like are small enough to be overlooked, just like I did with season 1. Oh well.

My brain, working on a dark!Dream/Hob fic that's getting pretty bloody: So... does everybody know that Hob killed people over white bread?
Like, this is not him bragging to friends or making a joke. Dream has already walked away with Shaxberd, and Hob's just like recollecting by himself.
My ideas about why Hob and Dream/Hob are so captivating are twofold:
Because even at the best of times, Hob is never a hero. Like I know the "regular guy" trope is... well, a trope. Especially in Fantasy, I feel like there's this emphasis on how the hero is really, actually, totally just a normal person with a normal life and just wants normal stuff who just happens to have whatever world-saving powers/tools/information the story needs. I mean, Peter fucking Parker's whole thing is him being a totally regular teenager — with world-saving spider powers! (I love Spiderman, don't hate me.) Even if you're a sidekick, you still have to have like genius-level brains or skills. But Hob really, really is just some random drunk braggart in a pub and even though he gains some wisdom, he is never actually more than a guy in a pub. I'm not saying it's laudable — that's the whole point — it's just that he's so... us. He's just a mirror of the world. When the world gets excited about chimneys and handkerchiefs, Hob's right there with them. And when the world goes dark, Hob gets mired in that, too.
Because change. You have Dream who is capable of change at an absolutely glacial pace. And then you have Hob who rushes into life again and again and again, seemingly endlessly capable of change — regardless of whether it's for better or worse. There's something compelling about the two extremes colliding and transforming each other. Even at the worst of times, I think change contains hope — because if things can turn one way, then they can turn another. And the idea that over time, people can grow and learn and become better and maybe become better at change itself is a beautiful and powerful and deeply human idea. We're adaptable, that's our thing.

no because in the comics hob and dream meet on time right. dream is a little late but he's still there in 1989. but the show takes place in 2022, so dream has to miss their 1989 date. can someone please explain to me why they had to have the white horse tavern close down and then have hob wait in the new inn, which he may or may not have had a hand in building, for 33 years? and by some stroke of luck, he's there on the day that dream randomly comes to find him? huh? please explain, neil gaiman, please explain...

A Graveyard Fanfic
The End (and the Beginning) of Nobody Owens
A short story because I am too lazy to write the longer version...
Nobody Owens opened his eyes.
It took him a while to find his eyelids to do this. There was a funny feeling about his body. It was utterly and completely familiar, and a little bit off at the same time. As if the molecules in his body had a little bit more space between them than he was used to and were swaying slightly in their respective spots.
Bod wasn’t sure how much time had passed since he had taken his final breath., and it didn’t really matter anymore. Time was a mere background noise anymore. Something that was there, to be measured in hours, days, years, decades. But those were just numbers. Time wouldn’t touch him anymore. It would move past him, leave him just a bystander, an observer.
He wouldn’t be able to change the world anymore. His potential had disappeared. Or rather: he had used it up. He was done with life, and life was done with him.
And that was okay. He had used his time wisely. He had seen the world, had felt hot sand under his feet, had felt the water of the sea around his ankle. He had seen palm trees and glaciers, pyramids and vulcanoes, ancient trees and baby giraffes.
He had surrounded himself with breathing people. Strangers at first but then he had gotten to know them, had shared bits of their journey with them and made their journey his own for a while.
He had learned and he had taught things.
He had held children’s hands and watched them grow up.
He had felt pride of their journey, and the anguish in his heart as they were moving on.
He had loved. Platonically, passionately, messily, requitedly and unrequitedly.
He had lived a life. He had used his potential to its fullest. And now he was dead.
Names were floating into his brain like the white fluff of a dandelion that someone had puffed in his direction.
Silas. Mr and Mrs Owens. Liza Hempstock. Fortinbras Bartleby. Mr Pennyworth. And Miss Lupescu.
He hadn’t thought of those names in years. He wasn’t even sure if he had been able to remember them before he had died. Now, in death, they were there, shining bright with love and memories.
People who had loved him and people he had loved. People who had been there for him, taught him, wiped away his tears and shared his laughter. People he had had to leave behind to live his life.
Now though, in death, Bod’s still heart ached for them, longed for them.
His eyes filled with insubstantial tears, casting a veil of longing between him and the world, so that he didn’t see the figure that was approaching him at first. He blinked and forced his eyes to focus until he recognised shapes, angles and colours.
It was the Lady on the Grey riding towards him in a canter that seemed far too fast and very slow at the same time.
She came to a halt in front of him, looked at him with a kind smile and reached out a hand to pull him up behind her, onto the horse’s back.
Bod looked up at her beautiful face, unsure if his old bones were up for a ride, but she just nodded encouragingly.
„Let me take you home,“ she said simply, „There are people waiting for you.“
„But my bones. They are here,“ he replied, gesturing to the graveyard around him
„Yes, they are, Nobody Owens. And they will stay here. You though, the living boy, you can go home now. Come, I will take you there,“ she said.
And Bod laid his ghostly hand in hers, felt her firm grip close around the mist of his fingers and let himself be pulled up behind her.
He felt the Grey starting to move, but his eyes couldn’t make out where they were going until, after some time or maybe no time at all, he saw a familar graveyard take shape around him. And there were the smiling faces of Mr and Mrs Owens, of Silas and everyone else he had forgotten during his life, welcoming him as if they had been waiting for him ever since he had left. And maybe they had.
When he had been a boy he had listened to their stories. He had learned everything they could teach him and he had questioned them about their lives and deaths. On his return he was full of stories himself. And his boyish heart couldn’t wait to tell them.

Hey, my feed was full of so many negative posts from this blog all of a sudden. Like it came across as really angry/upset over this show’s new season, going on rants about the creator unfollowing you, posting all these asks and stuff… just wanted to say I hope you’re doing okay, and taking enough breaks from socials & media.
Lol sorry if I scared ya, I guess I don't post this often usually by myself. AND I don't usually get this many asks in a row (it's about died down now so I'll probably go back to my usual......schedule of not posting soon). Believe me that I am taking so much time outside of tumblr -- and this is why my asks are backed up this much 😂. Again, if I or my posts bother you or if you simply find me annoying PLEASE unfollow or block me!
