Saturdays in Newberg, Oregon
Our daughter Jin-Olivia Yu played in the ITA Regional Championships for Whitman College, which was in Newberg, Oregon, one of my favorite towns.  We got to cheer her on to the semifinals in singles and finals in doubles while also enjoying a great breakfast at J’s restaurant and our favorite, Chapters Books and Coffee, where they make their own waffle cone right in front of you, so that the cold…

Is it normal to just assume that at a place of business (Restaurant, Starbucks, Store, etc), any ‘hints’ you might get from a staff person are purely just their ‘retail facade’ so-to-speak?
Occasionally I’ll go somewhere and a staff person will end up feeling a little extra nice to me, but I usually assume it’s 1000% in my head, but it makes me wonder how the fuck else are you meant to meet anyone?
Anyways, this deep thought was an excuse to say that I went to a beer hall and was SUPER into the dude working there because he was hot as balls and knew it because he had the top 2-3 buttons on his button-up unbuttoned which is like the universal sign of “I’m fucking hot and I know it”. Not saying he asked me to mentally objectify him, but yes that’s exactly what I’m saying.

"Math... music ... starry nights...
These are secular ways of achieving transcendence, of feeling lifted into a grand perspective. It's a sense of being awed by existence that almost obliterates the self. Religious people think of it as an essentially religious experience but it's not. It's an essentially human experience."

Donald Trump’s legal team has told a newly appointed independent arbiter that it does not want to answer his questions about the declassification status of the documents seized last month from the former president’s Florida home, saying that issue could be part of Trump’s defense if he’s indicted.
Lawyers for Trump and for the Justice Department are to appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Tuesday before a veteran judge named last week as special master to review the roughly 11,000 documents — including about 100 marked as classified — taken during the FBI’s Aug. 8 search of Mar-a-Lago.
Ahead of the status conference, Raymond Dearie, the special master, requested the two sides to submit a proposed agenda and also provided a draft plan for how he envisions the process moving forward over the next two months.
Trump’s lawyers signaled in a Monday evening letter their objection to several aspects of that draft plan, including a request from Dearie that they disclose to him and to the Justice Department information about the classification status of the seized documents.
The resistance to the judge’s request was notable because it was Trump’s lawyers, not the Justice Department, that had requested the appointment of a special master to conduct an independent review of the documents so that any material covered by claims of legal privilege could be segregated from the investigation — and because the former president’s team’s recalcitrance included an acknowledgment that the probe could be building toward an indictment.
Trump has maintained without evidence that all of the records were declassified; his lawyers have not echoed that claim, though they have asserted that a President has absolute authority to declassify information.
In the letter, Trump’s lawyers say the time for addressing that question would be if they file a motion seeking the return by the Justice Department of some of the property taken from Mar-a-Lago.
“Otherwise, the Special Master process will have forced the Plaintiff to fully and specifically disclose a defense to the merits of any subsequent indictment.” the lawyers wrote.
The Trump team also asked the judge to consider pushing back all of the deadlines for his review.
Also Tuesday, Trump’s lawyers asked a federal appeals court to leave in place a different judge’s order that temporarily barred the Justice Department from using the classified documents it seized as part of its criminal investigation. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, in the same order appointing the special master, directed the Department to halt its use of the records until Dearie does his own review.
The Justice Department challenged that order Friday to the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Atlanta, saying the ruling had impeded the investigation into the presence of top-secret information at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump lawyers on Tuesday called those concerns overblown, saying the Justice Department has not yet proven that the records remain classified and arguing that, in any event, investigators could still do other work on the probe even without scrutinizing the seized records.
“Ultimately, any brief delay to the criminal investigation will not irreparably harm the Government,” Trump’s lawyers wrote. “The injunction does not preclude the Government from conducting a criminal investigation, it merely delays the investigation for a short period while a neutral third party reviews the documents in question.”

WHG Prompt 3
Character: Cleo
Tagging @whgmasterofceremonies
It was funny to think that just yesterday Cleo and her dad sat together enjoying what little they had. Now she sat in their District's Justice Building hoping to see her dad one last time.
Being called to compete in the arena had shocked Cleo for sure. Despite living in District 3 Cleo wasn't the smartest person nor was she very skilled. She was a jack of all trades expert at none.
It was kinda funny to think about really. Her dad was super smart and was the major mind behind many technological advancements. It was these technological advancements that had saved Cleo's life when she was young. And it was this stolen technology that had gotten her mother killed.
Because of that Cleo had been raised to keep her head down and get nose clean. Up until now that strategy had worked.
When she was called she could see her dad heading out to volunteer. Fortunately she managed to get his attention in time and gently shook her head no. He looked so defeated in those moments and Cleo wanted nothing more than to run over and hug him. Instead she was brought up and asked her name. "Cleo Frederick-Newburg." she quietly replied as she tried to hug herself.
Then in an instant it was all over and she was whisked away to the Justice Building. Which is where she now sat waiting for the one person she wanted to see most, her dad.
He burst into the room with urgency. "Cleo!" he cried as he ran over to hug her. "Why did you stop me? You know I would go to the ends of the world for you." her dad exclaimed.
"I know dad, that's why I stopped you. You've already given up so much for me and for what. I'm useless. I'm not smart or strong or even remotely skilled. Maybe it's better if I do this instead of someone else more useful." Cleo replied.
"Oh Cleo don't talk like that. You're amazing just the way you are. I don't wish this fate on anyone but if I could put some else where you stand now I would. You're my little girl, my whole world. Life isn't worth living without you in it." her dad said.
"Don't say that Dad. Just cause I'm gone doesn't mean your life is over. You could still find love and have another kid. Or you could adopt one of the many orphans around. Just please promise me you won't stop living even when I'm gone." Cleo said.
"I can't make any promises but I'll try for you." her dad replied.
"Thank you." she whispered as they hugged once more.
"Here take this to remember me in your hardest times." her dad said as he shoved something into her hands. It was her mother's locket with old pictures of her and her dad still in it. Cleo knew for a fact that this was one of the only things left of her mother. It was something her dad looked at regularly to keep himself going.
"I can't take this. It's too important to you." Cleo insisted.
"The Capitol is already taking away the most important thing to me. If I can part with you I most definitely can part with that." Her dad replied.
Tears streamed down both their faces as they hugged one more time. "I'm going to miss you." Cleo said.
"I'm going to miss you too. But we'll see each other again when you win." her dad said, "I believe you can and so should you. Don't give up. Not now, not ever. For me."
"I won't. We'll see each other again." Cleo replied.
Then before they could hug again the Peacekeepers came in. Her dad was so reluctant to go they pretty much dragged him out of there.
As the door shut Cleo wished they'd bring him back. The world seemed too hollow without him.

Everyone keeps talking about the twist, but once they show the main one early on, the rest are out of left field, make no sense, and make so many of character look like idiots.

The proper seeding technique is essential whether you’re growing a new lawn or revitalizing an old one. Two popular options are power seeding and hydroseeding in Newberg, West Linn, and nearby areas. Understanding both the pros and cons of each approach will help you choose the best course of action for your lawn care requirements.
