for some reason i feel like the aesthetic / cinematography / direction of occultic;nine (like seriously!!!) , blood blockade battlefront, rie matsumoto , sakurako’s investigation /  Sakurako san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru,   satoshi kon (paranoia agent , paprika , millennum actress, etc.) , the visuals of revue starlight , the direction of naoko yamada and mitsuo iso (orbital children), the cowboy bebop movie for some reason (maybe its the lighting or the choreography (that entire train fight though) or narrative idk ) , would make for a neat adaptation

Lex Luthor is not a good man.

He is a literal supervillain, he's also more than aware of the consent issues of what he did when he created Connor.

Yet he is surprised by how furious Superman is making him.

Not that he isn't always angry with Superman but before it wasn't quite so personal.

It was a bigger issue what Superman stood for what he was but right now he's not picking the fight with Superman but with Clark Kent.

He has spent as much time as possible studying everything about kryptonian's from their weakness to their language.

Essentially, Superman should keep better track of his belongings.

Kon-El means abomination.

Lionel Luthor was never a kind man he knows exactly why he is who he is today. He still has slight scars from his fathers belt. Cruel words that years after his father's death, will still haunt his memories.

When he was younger he was friends with Bruce Wayne before being a Villain was his priority.

He remembers hiding at Wayne Manor a feeling of safety he had never felt before.

He's also more than aware that his old friend is running around as a Bat.

Bruce Wayne even as a child always stood for hope was always ready to change the world to stand for something better.

That's is why years later Lex Luthor is knocking on a door that he's not hundred percent sure he won't be turned away from.

Yet Kon-El means abomination.

"Mr. Luthor I was unaware Master Bruce was expecting you?"

Alfred looks older than Lex remembers for some reason the man always seemed above aging untouchable even by time.

"He's not, I need to speak with him please it's urgent."

He is a Luthor begging is below him, but right now he feels fourteen again, with the belief that the people within Wayne Manor can fix anything.

"Of course. Master Bruce is in his study, I will lead you please follow me Mr. Luthor."

He doesn't bring up how he knows the way. That he once ran chasing after Bruce hiding in that very study. That they had broken Vase playing like little boys did. He doesn't bring up crying, terrified that Alfred had promised him no harm should come to him in these halls.

He doesn't correct how he used to be Master Lex. He lost that privilege long ago.

It's been a very long time since he has laid eyes on Bruce Wayne he's seen the tabloids, even a passing glance at a gala but for some reason he didn't picture slight gray hair, a dark black suit, he imagined a Gotham Academy Uniform or a Nirvana Shirt that Lex always wanted to steel but never quite worked up the courage.

He doesn't even hear Alfred's depart he can't tear his eyes away from Bruce.

His throat is dry like all the moisture has somehow left since he walked through the doors.

He is Lex Luthor but right now he doesn't remember what that means.

"Kon-El means abomination did you know that?"

His voice weak. Bruce's face doesn't change, blank.

" I am not my Father. I don't know what to do but I refuse for my child to think he isn't loved by at least one of his parents."

He breathes.

"All those year ago, you told me that you would help that all I had to do was ask, I was an idiot, it's too late for me but not for him."

Bruce's voice startles him he hasn't realized how deep in his own mind he had sank.

"All you had to do was ask."

Bruce's face painted in the same smirk as if they were eighteen again smoking on the manors roof.

Lex Luthor is not a good person, but for Connor Luthor he will try he will rebuild bridges, bend his pride he will beg on his knees.

He never unstood how a parent should be or what it really meant to wake up everyday and have your whole being dedicated to loving and protecting something.

As he watches the rise and fall of his child's chest wrapped in the arms of the third Robin safe in his penthouse behind security straight from Wayne Entirpries and he doesn't regret it.

He know's he would do it all over again and when next Sunday comes and he gets a invite to brunch that he never throught he would see again he knows it was all for the better.

Tim 100% has his very own specific music taste. Let me describe it like this,

Around most of the batfam, and most of young justice, he listens to emo and grunge music. Picture bands like Green Day, Nirvana, My Chemical Romance, Falling in reverse, Gorillaz, etc.

When he’s around people he’s more comfortable with, he lets the alt facade fade a little. Around people like Kon, Dick, Bart, Stef and Cassie, he listens to more pop music. Tyler, The Creator, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Frank Ocean, etc.

When he’s alone, he listens to trashy early 2000’s pop and white girl music. I’m talking Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas, the pussycat dolls, Nelly Furtado, etc.

The only two people who know of Tim’s obsession with that specific genre of pop are Kon, either because of his superhearing or because Tim let him in on the secret after they started dating, and Dick. He walked into his room and heard it playing, causing him to throw his phone out the window and break it.

It’s up in the attic/basement at the farmhouse in Hamilton county, when he turned 18-21, he either (depending on the “viewers” decision): burns it by putting it into a bonfire in the backyard (fully accepting himself as a EL) or get it renewed by making it blue & yellow (same as Nightwing outfit) with a blue & yellow cape. (Blue outside with yellow Z & yellow inside)

I have a lot of headcanons about Kon’s personal music taste so here they are. Kon canonically likes Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Hole, Liz Phair, and and The Spinanes. So of course all of those artists factor in to my hc however, Kon also likes Wendy the Werewolf Stalker which is of course based on BTVS, which famously has a really good 90’s alt/R&B soundtrack. This brings me to my headcanon, which is basically that WTWS shaped a lot of Kon’s music taste and acted sort of as a cultural touchstone for him, therefore a lot of the music he listens to and engages with is 90’s and early 2000’s alt and R&B like Cibo Matto, Portishead, and Garbage. Also Supernova by Liz Phair is 100% his ringtone on Tim’s phone

De eerste kennismaking met Kaohsiung Taiwan was enigszins negatief. Ik had een baaldag zoals wel eens gebeurd als je reist. De vlucht uit Vietnam had ruim een uur vertraging waardoor ik vrij laat arriveerde en ik mocht van de homestay niet eens roken op het balkon bij mijn kamer. De rook zou namelijk weleens ergens heen kunnen waaien, al weet ik niet precies waarheen, aangezien het balkon aan een steeg lag. Roken kon wel op het dakterras. Toen het bed ook nog eens te kort bleek, had ik er flink de P in.

Gelukkig was mijn chagrijn de volgende ochtend wel weer verdwenen. Roken op het dakterras was zo slecht niet - de koelkast stond op dezelfde verdieping- en de host was ontzettend aardig. Alsof ter compensatie zou ze me flink volstoppen de komende dagen. Zelf gebakken koekjes, fruit, soep en een keer een meesterlijk ontbijt (foto 9). Ze had een vriend, voordat er onterechte conclusies getrokken worden. Wel apart - en dat geldt voor heel Taiwan - is dat ze nog allerlei covid maatregelen in stand hield. Zij had een mondkapje op en ik moest mijn handen en de wieltjes van mijn rolkoffer ontsmetten. Een wieltje bleek echter al te veel gereisd te hebben en brak spontaan (extra toevoeging aan de baaldag). Een tweede wieltje bleek ook op breken te staan. Gelukkig was een winkel voor reparaties makkelijk te vinden. Een uurtje later zaten er voor 12 euro al weer twee nieuwe wieltjes onder. Daarna naar Pier 2 creative park geweest (foto 1 en 5) alwaar het prettig toeven was. Sowieso valt op dat er veel kunst en streetart is in Taiwan.

Daarna werd Taiwan eigenlijk steeds beter. Op de dag van het midden herfst festival (maan festival) ben ik naar Cijin eiland geweest, een dunne strook land voor de kust van Kaohsiung. De oversteek met de veerboot duurde slechts 5 minuten (foto 4 is van de terugtocht). Heerlijk gerelaxed in een strandtent en tussendoor een tempel, vuurtoren en fort bezocht. Ook waren er eetkraampjes en spelletjes voor kinderen langs de kant van de weg (foto 2). Daar ook gezien wat er met burnables gebeurd (foto 3), die gaan vrij voorspelbaar de oven in. Ook in Taiwan is dat een groot ding, al is het hier vooral nep geld/ talismannen (zie ook Vietnam). Op de terugweg ook een belangrijke tempel van Nezu bezocht, die blijkbaar 300 jaar bestond (foto 8). Althans dat werd mij uitgelegd door een dame in de tempel, die me tevens een lolly gaf, want blijkbaar was Nezu dol op snoep. Heb trouwens inmiddels zo. ontzettend. veel. tempels gezien dat ik er later een aparte post aan zal wijden. Dat wordt een zoek de verschillen 😀.

Over tempels gesproken, de volgende dag ben ik naar Fo Guang Shan geweest. Een enorm Boeddhistisch complex met museum, diverse gebedsruimtes en de grootste zittende Boeddha ter wereld (foto 5). Het is een bizar concept, want enerzijds wordt gepredikt om materiële welvaart en kapitalisme niet na te streven, terwijl anderzijds overal donatieboxen staan, er meerdere winkels zijn en ik nog nooit zoveel pinautomaten in een religieus complex heb gezien. Alles om de gelovigen flink geld uit de zak te kloppen als offer aan Boeddha en andere Boeddhistische goden. Van oorsprong kent het boeddhisme overigens geen goden, maar net als het christendom heeft het vele stromingen ontwikkeld. Hier bidden ze vrij fanatiek, ik zag zelfs een vrouw zichzelf prosterneren, door zich helemaal op de grond te gooien. Het is al met al een goed verdienmodel. Overigens kwam ik er - helaas te laat- achter dat er ook een oudere Fo Gaung Shan tempel is, die is misschien vanuit toeristisch oogpunt interessanter. Zelf was ik niet van plan iets te doneren, maar uiteindelijk toch gedaan. In een van de ruimtes werd mij door een vrouw een soort lego-achtige bloem in de handen gedrukt om te offeren. Ze begon ook een heel gesprek over waar ik vandaan kwam en wat deze Bodhavista (personen die nirvana hebben bereikt, maar op de aarde blijven om mensen te helpen) precies voor was. Het bleek voor betere prestaties op school en werk te zijn. Ik vertelde haar dat mijn baas daar vast blij mee zou zijn en heb toen wat muntgeld in de donatiebox gegooid. Maar dat ga ik declareren 🤪.

In de avond naar de Old Fart DJ Bar geweest. Daar had ik al eens een drankje gedronken en toevallig was ik weer in de buurt. De eigenaren zijn ontzettend relaxte mensen en je mag er binnen roken (zeldzaam in Taiwan). Het bier was er ook vrij goedkoop, een hele pitcher voor zo'n 11 euro. Ze draaien zoals de naam al enigszins impliceert vooral muziek uit de jaren 70/80 en weigeren Spotify. Heel veel contact met de stamgasten had ik niet, ze spraken geen Engels, maar desalniettemin was het gezellig om een paar biertjes te doen. Grappig was ook dat ze allerlei oude Taiwanese liedjes draaiden en dan de hele kroeg mee zong. Bijzonder was dat op een gegeven moment een man van een soort Thuisbezorgd binnen stapte met een gigantische hoeveelheid en verscheidenheid aan eten. Per portie van het een of ander betaal je dan 50 ntd (€1,5). Ik heb vier dingen genomen ( foto 8 varkensvlees, vis, boontjes en gezuurde groenten) en het was heerlijk. Na nog een rondje tequila van een vrouw die aan de bel ging hangen om 2.30 naar het hotel gestommeld.

Op de laatste dag tenslotte, begrijpelijk rustig aan gedaan een rond de Lotus Pond gelopen. Weer veel tempels waaronder in het grote beeld op foto 10. Hij heeft iets met het taoïsme te maken en is volgens mij de main man, maar echt snappen doe ik het niet. Al spreekt dat geloof me wel aan: Go with the flow.
