Every time someone says they watched Akira and didn't like it I want to grab them and physically shove them into the pages of the manga.

Every time someone says they watched Akira and it was the best work of fiction they've ever experienced I also want to grab them and physically shove them into the pages of the manga.

Basically what I'm saying here is that regardless of how high or low your opinion of the film is, the manga is indescribably better. The film is phenomenal, I'm not saying it's not, but the narrative it presents pales to the level of bleached onionskin in comparison to the manga.
