I've seen multiple awesome writers worried that people aren't going to like one of their series because it's "not real whump" or some similar sentiment, so I feel compelled to say this.
Some people prefer physical whump
Some people prefer emotional whump
Some people prefer psychological/mental whump
Some people like recovery arcs
Some people like fluff and comfort after the whump
Some people like whump that focuses more on angst
Some people like plot-heavy whump
Some people like worldbuilding-heavy whump
Also, the more niche a piece of writing is, the more happy the people who enjoy that niche will be to find something that fits it
Basically you can write whatever you want and there will be an audience somewhere who loves it.

I feel like in recent years there been an increase in producers and directors who create shows and movies with the intent to say “fuck you” to the audience/parts of the audience.
And it really bothers me because at best it’s bad storytelling. And at worst is upsets and alienates fans.
There are ways to address racism and sexism on screen without straight up harassing all white characters and male characters. (Hi new Velma show).
Fans should be encouraged to speculate and guess the ending and if they guess right, that means the story makes logical sense. (Looking at you Rian Johnson and GOT directors).
Even if you have a point you want to make with your audience, you need to acknowledge that movies and shows are storytelling mediums. If people wanted to learn about the history of racism within the justice system and how it relates to drugs, they’d watch a documentary. It is possible to create shows and movies that cover hard hitting topics and explore societal problems that are still good stories. There are ways to shock the audience without tossing out all the clues previously dropped. And these giant entertainment companies have the money and resources to find and hire good storytellers but they actively choose not to and instead support films and shows that are intended to be reactionary to the audience it’s geared for.
And as an aspiring author, I’m tired of it.

It's always the villains that unsettle the heroes. For once, I want to watch the heroes unsettle the villains.
I want them to be unnervingly calm after being captured, because they know what's coming and the villain doesn't.
I want the heroes to look right into the hidden cameras, and meet the villain's eyes through the screen, as though they're staring into their soul, right before the footage cuts out.
I want the heroes to deliver cryptically worded warnings and vague, disturbing threats. I want the villain to walk into their office and find the severed head of one of their trusted underlings.
I want the villain, so sure of themself and so confident that they are a true mastermind, to find themself facing off against a real mastermind. I want the heroes to be one step ahead.

nah cause imagine waiting in line for god knows how long to meet your favorite creator just to get a cheap stamp on your $20 hardcover and zero conversation or hospitality
i get not wanting to let overzealous fans clog up the line, i've definitely dealt with stragglers at my tables at conventions (and i'm not someone people are clamoring to see LOL) but you still shouldn't be out here making them feel like an inconvenience.

POST THE DOUBKE PARALLELS PLSPLSPLS
HNGH OKAY SO,
First of all just some General Visual Parallels (ones that while I don't have any particular Thoughts or Deep Analysis on they're Neat :) (also they fit more into the overarching smoking trio parallels since Kazui has a matching one too) I'm sorry Kazui my blog is so biased orz)
Mfs when they hold the left side of their face while forcing out a pained smile (Although with Mikoto it's just his general lying/trying to brush off his own suffering while with Shidou we're looking at him at his most painfully honest) ((Also they both have phone calls in their songs which I think is Great))
Cool eye shots :) (Am I the only one who thinks Mikoto's eyes are very pretty :sob: ((Also now the entire smoking trio has one of these close up eye shots, I also love that Mikoto and Orekoto both get individual shots nobody gets left out (Ignoring the fact that they Disbanded)))
Okay but time for. My Actual Shitty Parallels Analysis bear with me guys here this is gonna get Messy,
Idk if I talked about this Before but Shidou and John (I'm sorry guys I Need to adjust to it I'm gonna call him John here) are both obviously extremely tied to their "purpose" of protecting people, specifically their loved ones (Shidou's Family/Mikoto). However they obviously go at it very Differently, John's method Is harmful (violence/killing) while Shidou's is supposed to be the complete Opposite (treating/healing).
There's also something interesting about their victims. I can't say for sure from Double if Multiple people were Actually murdered, but it seems to be portrayed that way by John at least; he and Shidou both portray themselves as having multiple victims, and they're also portrayed completely differently than their loved ones (Flowers/Tags, Mannequins, they're not entirely portrayed as people and have little to no identity, their lives were set aside to protect/save the ones they cared about)
(The environment in Shidou's MV is also very sterile and clean looking while John's is covered in blood. They're both surrounded by their representations of the lives they took)
From what we've seen this purpose is currently what basically makes or breaks their will/reason to live, these people are their entire worlds, if they can't even save the ones they care about they may as well have nothing, and what happened with that purpose of protecting?
Well. They failed.
Shidou's fails to protect/save his family and John fails to protect/save Mikoto, and their arcs with how they go Forward with this failure completely Kills Me
I fucking. Hrmghsdflbds these shots at the ends of their respective mvs are the shots that pretty much prompted this post. Shidou reaches out and, despite his failures, tries to push past his self-hatred and resolves to continue living and protecting others. Meanwhile, John closes in on himself with renewed self-hatred, and decides that it would be better off if he disappeared/went dormant.
Just. Aheem aheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem
GOD, GOD (while the shots themselves don't exactly parallel, the lyrics. Oh The Lyrics)
"So hey, prolong my life" / "If only I were never born, if only"
"I'm Dispensable" / "I'm So Sorry"
Minus the "Why, why" in Double, these are the Last Two Lines for both of their songs and,
I'M GONNA HIT SOMETHING,
We see John with the most Openly Distressed expression we've seen on him meanwhile Shidou has almost Cold Resolve
Shidou and John's arcs are going in completely opposite directions and that Breaks my Fucking Heart Man oh my God get me Out of here Get Me Out (I hope these shots also helps articulate that parallel I tried to make earlier about the different ways they go at protecting people? Shidou puts on new white, clean gloves meanwhile John's hands are completely coated in blood and just. Man,).
Just. Yeah. Yeah,
Pain
God I hope this makes sense to Someone I'm going Insane
Most miserable guys ever I love them so much </333

Ok gang...
What do we think happens to the babies conceived and born between Saiki's restorations of the planet?
Mother always gets pregnant again and gives birth to the same baby again
Mother always gets pregnant again and gives birth to a different baby
Mother may or may not get pregnant again but if she does it's always the same baby
Mother may or may not get pregnant again but if she does it's always a different baby
Mother may or may not get pregnant again but if she does, the baby is only the same if the father is the same
???
Reply/reblog/tag/ask your responses...
Thoughts:
Relationships between characters evolve over time regardless of the time loops (otherwise Chiyo's crush would always reset to be on Saiki), so presumably people can get married/divorced/remarried
People don't repeat the same actions every year so presumably if the parents choose to have sex another day or whatever, the gametes involved would probably be different... Sperm apparently lives in the testes for a few weeks before dying off so if the parents were busy that month it might make the original genetic match impossible
Mind control does not erase the memory of previous years. If the baby is different the next year, what do the parents think happened to the old baby?? Do they miss the old baby??
Do the erased babies go to the afterlife? Do they get stuck as ghosts? Do they get wiped from existence forever?
Maybe the baby soul remains the same but the baby body is different depending on whatever genetics combination happens the next time. And the parents treat the baby the same, it just looks different now for some reason but it's fine.
But what if the father is different??
