Wobbly Hearts AU
Tumblr media
Summary: Kai doesn’t like soulmates. He doesn’t want them and he certainly doesn’t need them. High school is hard enough without all the extra stress of soulmarks and finding your soulmates. He decided at a young age he didn’t have time for soulmates and he plans to stick to that decision. Unfortunately, as always, the universe seems to take a lot of joy in messing with him. or Kai struggles with reading and it’s everybody’s problem.
Hi there! Yes it's the very fic I've been yelling about in vague posts and tags the last 6+ months! It's been so long since I've posted anything to ao3 I've forgotten how it works but I'm doing my best! This fic is an AU set in an alternate universe of the LEGO Ninjago Movie (2017) combined with a lot of the characterization and aspects from the original LEGO Ninjago show. It's over 100k so buckle up and prepare for some shenanigans!
the first chapter is UP
sample under cut
Kai got his first soulmarks when he tried to eat a marker.
Tiny, with fumbling fingers, freckles and barely two years old he didn’t remember that day in the slightest. But his parents told the story to him and Nya all the time when they were little.
It was the little red marker they said that he went for. His mom didn’t notice until he’d pried off the cap and stuck it into his mouth after several unsuccessful attempts that ended in red marker all over his face. She’d gotten it out of his mouth before he could really try to eat it like he’d been meaning to. He'd started crying at the abruptness of his marker being taken away, but those tears dried up fairly quickly after his mom scooped him up.
His mom laughed that maybe his soulmates wanted him to feel less alone because a blue marker appeared not long after they started to wash off the red.
His first soulmark.
Kai grew up with their scribbled colorful lines on his skin. At first it was the hazardous meaningless lines of a toddler and then, as time progressed, they became more purposeful doodles. They were just another part of life he didn’t fully understand but accepted as fact because his parents simply smiled and spoke over his head of soulmates. He didn’t think he really grasped much of the concept of exactly what a soulmate was until he turned five.
They were someone (or several someones) that could be his favorite person (or people) in the whole wide world if he let them. After Nya was born he argued she was his soulmate because she was his most favorite person in the whole wide world. His dad said it was a different kind of favorite. But Nya was family and that was just as important.
It wasn’t until he was seven and struggling to learn the alphabet that he realized there was more than one soulmate out there for him.
Words started appearing as they learned how to write, the letters slanted and wobbly and hazardous. He watched their writing change and improve and watched them start to talk to each other. There were two of them. Two soulmates all for him. They talked in the simple words that they could manage. One excitedly scribbled I <3 U when they learned how. Kai had to ask his mom what the lines meant and she explained it with a patient smile. It means I love you.
He was ten and still just drawing doodles while his soulmates spoke of their favorite cartoons and what they had eaten that day. Letters seemed to float around his head and laugh at him as he tried to read what they were saying, frustrated tears biting his eyes and blurring the letters. Seeing him struggle, his mom would let him sit on her lap and read him the words out loud while he rested his head on her shoulder.
Pens and markers felt awkward in his hands. The little doodles he managed never looked as good as the doodles one of his soulmates was always making. Their doodles were of cool stuff, like ninja and dragons and mechs. The doodles were so cool and Kai doodled little hearts and flames around them as best he could to show how much he liked them. But half the time he couldn’t tell the hearts from the fire and explosions, everything so wobbly and awful. He tried to write his name once and it was almost worse than the hearts.

Kai,cole, and Lloyd with a touch starved reader who's to prideful to admit they are touch starved.
Reader will pretend to make a big huff about the ninja being needy yet is crawling into their lap pretty quickly.
A/n hi thank you for requesting I hope it's to your liking
Kai
Tumblr media
Kai is a hot head both figuratively and literally. Kai is also touching Thunkyou in anyway so you "complain". “ KAI!” You whined as you hit the ground. “ I told you if you don't admit you like my attention I'd shove you off me!” Kai exclaimed he was trying to get you to admit you were touch starved especially since you basically jumped into his lap any chance you got. “ Fine I'll just go cuddle with Jay! At least he appreciates me!” You replied . Kai sat there for a good 5 minutes before fully processing what you had said he's kinda slow.
“ Y/N NO COME BACK HERE!” Kai yelled
Yes you did end up cuddling with Kai again
Lloyd
Tumblr media
You're touch starved? Well he is too!
“Mmmm you're so clingy . “ You muttered snuggling into Lloyd like you weren't the one who crawled into bed with him. “ But you came into my bed… not that I mind though.” Lloyd replied. “ Did I thought?” You asked teasingly. “ Yes.” Lloyd replied. “ Or did you ask me to come?” You asked again trying to mess with him. “ Wait….is that what happened?” Lloyd asked. “ I don't know is it?” You asked jokingly.
“ ……Y/n….”
“......Lloyd……”
“ If you don't tell me no more cuddles for you.” Lloyd said
“ Fineeeee… I came into your bed.” You replied
Cole
Tumblr media
I feel like Cole would be the most understanding out of him,kai,Lloyd, Nya, Jay and possibly Zane. He is used to you jumping onto him at random times and sometimes even horrible times . “ Y/n my sweet we've been hugging for like the past ten minutes.” Cole said. “ So?” You muttered. “ I'm starting to get uncomfortable with how long you and Cole have been hugging.” Kai said. “ I don't remember asking your opinion hot head.” You replied . You and Cole went to his room. “ Spinjitzu master Y/n I had a feeling you were touch starved but not this much.” Cole chuckled.
“ Am not.” You replied.
“Are to. “ Cole replied
“Am not. “ You said again
“ Am not.” Cole replied
“ Are too.” You replied
“Wait…..” You said and Cole started laughing

ninjas' relationship with a home
Zane is used to moving on from places, as an amnesiac orphan he was used to getting up and carrying on, then his only temporary home, the Monastery, burns down (ref: s1 ep2 Home) and the others blame him for it. granted, he seems unaffected from these accusations and proceeds to find the Destiny's Bounty that day so all is forgiven
I wonder if some of this longing for a home was intensified after he regains his memories in Tik Tok (s1 ep7). because then he would be able to remember a time of prolonged safety and living with people you love
Kai and Nya lived at the blacksmith shop presumably since their parents got kidnapped by Krux and Acronix. Nya even had enough time to create a whole secret room of armor
the first years must've been especially hard given all the reminders of their parents being around. did they leave their bedroom untouched, save for the occasional cleaning?
did Kai have to pull up a stool to the stove to cook until he hit his growth spurt? are most of Nya's memories in that house of Kai making her lunches and tucking her in at night and sending her off to school?
who takes care of the shop while they're gone? and when they come back do they notice everything looks a little smaller- each corner thick with dust and the fingerprints of afternoons when they were 12 and only had each other?
Jay lived with Ed and Edna in the scrapyard since he was little and he can visit back there whenever he likes, but now he has another family to think about: the one he never had, the one that gave him away
however after Skybound he knows he has other parents as well. does he ever sit in the kitchen he grew up in and wonder if his biomom had any recipes she wanted to pass down? if she ever saw families or little kids and thought of him? if they have the same smile or same freckles or same laugh?
sure he can learn about Cliff all he wants and he loves his Mom and Dad dearly, but was there more? could he have learned to master lightning with his Mom? where was she when he was growing up? was she unable to see him or unwilling? is she even alive?
Cole's house is likely the same as when he was little, so he too can go visit, but I wonder if he went off to "boarding school" because after his Mom died he couldn't stand to be at home
what was a place to laugh and paint became gray when Lilly got ill. it turned into a place of hushed voices and packed bags for the hospital. after she died it was the home of yelling, of arguments, of tradition vs. passion. smiles became forced and doors only slammed shut.
with more time having passed, I wonder if Cole is glad that so many things of his are mostly untouched since his Mom died. he can find her neat handwriting on some notes in his desk, in books on the shelves, and point out decor she bought
Lloyd only had a complete home for a small part of his childhood before Misako left him at Darkley's. then, he must've lived somewhere close to the school. when he was doing Pythor's bidding, he seemed to be mostly homeless
after growing up deserted at a boarding school (that he clearly didn't like) and manipulated into long treks and homelessness to do the bidding of a snake, perhaps his misbehavior at the beginning of his stay on the Bounty was because he couldn't imagine it lasting. him? a place where he felt at home? better the devil you know than the devil you don't- just toss me back out on the streets I don't CARE!
when do you think he realized that the others weren't going to leave him like his Mom did or take advantage of him like Pythor? how many months in did it take him to realize that his uncle Wu wasn't the only one who wanted him there?
any particular ninja y'all want me to focus on drop in the tags or replies- I'm real interested about this now

Finding them after the merge
Gender neutral reader
Some are longer than others
Also, Jay remembers you but you're the only one he remembers
One more thing Cole, Lloyd and Zane will be a separate part because I'm writing this late at night and can't come up with anything for them right now
Characters included in this Jay, Y/n, Nya and Kai
Kai
Tumblr media
You were making your way back to Ninjago when you happened to pass by some mountains on the way back to Ninjago. When you heard a commotion. It sounded like fighting and you were going to ignore it that was until you heard a voice yell " BRING IT ON YOU OVER GROWN LIZARDS!" You froze in your tracks you knew that voice anywhere it was the voice of your fiery hothead boyfriend. " Welp I guess Ninjago will just have to wait. " You muttered before going towards the voice. Only to be stopped by muddy rocky creatures when you got close to Kai's voice . " Who go's there?" One of the creatures asked pointing it's sphere at you. You raised your hands up in surrender. " I mean no harm I just thought I heard someone I know over here. " You replied. " There are none of your kind here leave." One of the creatures replied and you turned to leave. That is until you saw something out of the corner of your eye a male with spiky hair showing off to some of the creatures. You took off running towards the male with the creatures chasing you the male turned around just in time to see the commotion and get tackled into a hug by you. " KAI IT'S REALLY YOU I WAS STARTING TO LOSE HOPE I'D SEE YOU AGAIN!" You yelled a little bit to loudly while hugging him. Kai stood there in shock for a few seconds before hugging you back. " Y/n is that really you?" Kai asked. " Yes porcupine, it's really me." You replied . " Hey what did I say about calling me a porcupine?" Kai asked pretending to be hurt you rolled your eyes and kissed him he kissed back. Kai then explained to the craglings the name of the creatures how you weren't a threat .
Nya
Tumblr media
You didn't find her she found you while looking for the dragon cores. You had been staying with Arrakore a djinn, which with what happened with Nadakhan probably wasn't the best idea. Arrakore had found you injured and unconscious and took you in. You of course were very weary and didn't trust him at all at first but over time the two of you eventually gained each other's trust. You laugh as a dragon ran up to Arrakore. " An old friend of yours Arrakore?" You asked between laughter. " I don't know why I keep you around. " Arrakore replied looking at you. " Because your lonely and secretly enjoy the company. " You replied smirking. A young girl probably somewhere in her teens came into the cave followed by a baby dragon and a woman. The woman was wearing a light blue ninja gi and a light blue mask. You and the woman had a few awkward moments of eye contact before she pulled down her mask " Y/n?" The woman asked. " Nya? NYA!" You exclaimed happily running over to her. Nya punched . " That's for scaring me when I couldn't find you. " Nya said then pulled you into a kiss. " That's for everything else. " She finished. " So are you going to introduce us?" The teen girl asked. " Oh right Sora this is my partner Y/n. Y/n this is Sora. " Nya said. " Nice to meet you kid." You said smiling at Sora.
Jay
Tumblr media
You wandered down the halls of the building it was so big and you, Lloyd and Arin had all gotten separated. You hoped one of them had found the dragon core you three had come for. You were muttering to yourself as you continued to wander the halls not really paying attention to where you were going when you bumped into someone's back. " Hey watch where you're.........Jay?" You asked as the male turned around he wasn't wearing his blue ninja gi instead he was wearing a black suit and dark blue tie. " can I help yo...... Y/n?" Jay asked as his eyes met yours. Jay could see the hesitate in your eyes he smiled softly and encouragingly as he opened his arms. He still had the same smile the smile you had missed the past few years. The smile that made your heart race it was him it was your Jay. " Jay....." You said crying happy tears as you walked into his arms. " I missed you so much my love. " You said crying tears of joy and Jay leaned down and kissed your temple softly. " Not a day went bye that I didn't think about you. " Jay muttered to you. " That's cheesy Walker you're a dork." You muttered still hugging him. " Yeah but I'm your dork." Jay replied. " That you are Jay that you are. " You replied happy to have your soul mate back.

i said "i love you" (you say nothing back)
After defeating the Hoarder, Nya finds out exactly what Cole means when he says that it feels like the earth is screaming. Meanwhile, Cole knows that his and Geo’s time is running out.
“We’re gonna need to head out first thing in the morning,” Nya explained as she followed Cole around, the two of them on their own journey to find two sufficient air mattresses for her and Sora to sleep on for the night, but she had a much more pressing matter on her mind, “so, you and Geo?”
“What about Geo?” Cole asked, kneeling down next to a pile of junk and starting to dig through it.
“I just think it’s nice that you found him and the others, that you had others after the Merge,” Nya shrugged as she got down beside her best friend and started to dig through the pile of trash beside him while a much simpler time came to the forefront of her mind, “remember that true match machine?”
“Oh my god,” Cole laughed despite the thin lines of pain around his lips that Nya could only see in a certain light, “I nearly forgot about that stupid thing.”
“What, the machine that resulted in you and I going on one date? Where afterwards you said “I’m not talking to Jay, but you can’t pick me”? How did you forget that?” Nya couldn’t contain her laughter as they stood with zero luck and continued to walk, no longer in fear of the Hoarder now that it was trapped in a jar.
“I still can’t believe that was the last piece of the puzzle.”
“Yep, one date with me. That’s all it took for you to realize that you were gay,” she grinned, but it was quickly replaced by a frown of worry about where her yin was bubbling its way back to the surface of her mind, “I hope that the others find him.”
“Hey,” Cole’s voice was comforting as his hand rested on her shoulder, forcing her attention to him, “we will find him. One of us will find Jay, I promise. I mean, you and Sora found me in a place that, according to most people, doesn’t even exist. That’s gotta mean something.”
“I wish you would come with us.” Nya sighed, pulling an air mattress pump off of the top of a pile of junk, relieved to find that it was only slightly dented and battery powered.
“You know I can’t. Not until I can find a way to bring them with me,” Cole sighed, examining the device, “it would kill me to leave them-” the cry of anguish as he dropped to his knees forced a horrific scream from Nya’s lungs.
“Cole!” She rushed over and knelt down before pulling her best friend into her arms, “Cole, what’s-”
“Get Geo.” Was all he said before his eyes fluttered shut and his body went limp in her arms, making Nya’s stomach churn with worry; she tried to lift him so she could get him back to the Rookery, to find his boyfriend like he said to do, but despite her own share of muscle from the years of being a Samurai and then a ninja, he was still too heavy for her.
So she did the only thing that she could think to do and started to yell out, “Sora! Geo! Riyu! I need help!”
Nya’s heart pounded painfully in her chest as she looked around at the others surrounding her; Bonzal was crocheting, her boney hands working slowly but expertly with the light blue yarn that was reminiscent of her own gi. Fritz and Spitz were sitting on the ground, gluing together popsicle sticks into what she assumed was a log cabin, similar to how she had done it when she was their age. Sora and Riyu had gone out to resume finding mattresses for the two of them to settle for the night, insisting that since they had found a pump, a mattress had to be close by.
Nya couldn’t help but wonder if Bonzal’s crocheting was nerves or not with how slow she was working; she couldn’t help but remember her boyfriend’s anxious movements, his hands working nervously on all sorts of projects and inventions if only just to calm his overworking mind.
If he had been with her in this current moment, Jay would focus on trying to comfort her own nerves, using his own words to ground himself, but she didn’t dare wish for him to be there even in the comfort of her own mind, not even a good experience with a Dijin could change that.
With how at ease the boys were, even if they weren’t outwardly showing their nerves, Nya couldn’t help but wonder if what had happened to Cole was somewhat normal for the children he was now practically calling his own, for the skeleton who outwardly didn’t care for much but her craft projects as well as her weird collections and for Cole’s boyfriend, who was in the room just down the hall, tending to him.
It wasn’t that it was unexpected for Cole to have a boyfriend; ever since he came out to her, Nya was aware of the persistent crush he had once had on her brother as well as the brief romance that he had shared with Plundar. If she was being completely honest, she had been expecting it for a long time just like she knew the others had been expecting her to get back together with Jay.
But she couldn’t stop herself from wondering about Geo, the outcast of Shintaro that had found his way into Cole’s heart. They hadn’t spoken much to each other aside from the explanation of his own elemental powers, not that it wasn’t either of their faults given the attack from both The Hoarder as well as Dr. LaRow.
Admittedly, Nya couldn’t help but wonder if it was just her wanting to get to know the Munce, or if some part of her was still guarded from the mess that had been what had gone down with Harumi and Lloyd and as a result, wanted to protect the others from going through anything like that again.
She was so lost in her own mind that she hadn’t even registered Geo, slowly opening the creaking, wooden door until he approached the line of her vision, “how is he?”
“He’ll be okay,” Geo’s voice was steady, like anything about Cole passing out for seemingly no reason after expressing earlier in the day that it felt like the earth had been screaming ever since the Merge was okay.
“How are you so calm about this?” Nya questioned with a raised eyebrow, “this isn’t normal and not just in Ninjago. It’s not normal at all.”
Geo didn’t answer at first and Nya assumed that it was due to the fact that he was refusing to acknowledge her question, but she was surprised when Geo led her over to a small table pushed into the back of the room and handed her a hot mug of steaming chamomile, a scent she instantly recognized from her days working at Steep Wisdom.
“I don’t like scaring Fritz and Spitz,” Geo admitted as he passed her a small dish of sugar before taking a sip of his unsweetened tea, looking right at the young boys as he spoke, “they’re just kids. Kids who look at Cole the same way that they look at me.”
“So they’re your sons?” Nya pressed while sweetening her tea.
“In all but blood,” Geo affirmed, “the four of us, we were all rejected by our biological families, so we made our own and when Cole fell from the sky, we only assumed that he was like the rest of us.”
Nya nodded; she was instantly brought back to those cold autumn mornings in Ignacia where her feet would be so cold that she would instantly go to Kai’s bed and snuggle up to her furnace of a brother; even when he complained about her cold feet on his warm legs, she knew that he was grateful that at least he could provide warmth.
It had just been the two of them surviving together, hoping that the other villagers would take pity on them to the point of at least offering them a warm meal if they didn’t buy some of the extensive stock of weapons that only dwindled as they grew up.
In a weird way, she had been thankful for being taken by the skeleton army; after all, it wasn’t like they hurt her and afterwards, they had the guarantee of comfy beds and warm meals while Kai continued his training to become the master of fire.
“So, what happened out there?” Nya questioned, now that the chamomile was starting to calm down her anxiety and replaced it with the need for answers, “and why are you all so calm about this?”
“I know you said that this isn’t normal, and you are completely in the right, but it has become our normal,” Geo explained, stopping to take a sip of his tea, “a few weeks after Cole arrived, he fought the Hoarder for the first time. But when he used what he calls his “earth punch”, he confided in me later on that the earth struggled to obey his mastery and it felt like the ground was in agony.”
“So the pain is from his earth punch.”
“Not exactly,” Nya couldn’t stop her eyebrow from raising in confusion, but after being in so many confusing conversations throughout the years, she knew when it was better to remain silent, “after that day, he started to develop these migraines, he told me that he always hears the cries, but that he can drown them out. But some days, like today, it’s too strong for him.”
Nya swallowed in sympathy; after she had been brought back from the sea, she had been forced to go through the withdrawal of the lack of elemental power she had seen both Kai and Lloyd go through in the past. It had been painful to say the least between getting used to her own body again as well as the usual flu-like symptoms that came with having the elemental energy ripped from one's body.
But consistent migraines like that, long after the event that originally caused the internal turmoil, that was new to her; not impossible, but new. Just like everything else that she had learned within the past few weeks since she reunited with Lloyd.
“Is there anything that helps him get through the bad days?” Nya asked, pushing a loose strand of hair away from her face where it had fallen out of her ponytail, only to be disappointed when Geo shook his head.
“Not much. We haven’t been able to find any sort of medicine or herbal remedy to decrease the pain, but physical contact helps him ground himself, so it’s something.”
That was something that didn’t surprise Nya at all. Cole was always the first one to give and accept hugs to whoever might need one ever since she first met him; she had a particularly strong memory of the two of them holding onto each other tightly after a conversation about ghosts and newfound powers.
But as Geo spoke, every word rattled inside of her mind and filled it with the fact that Geo was not deceptive and had zero malicious intent for her friend. Rather, he may very well be the best match she had ever seen for Cole.
“Then you should go be with him,” Nya insisted, putting her now empty tea cup down on the table, “I’ll clean this up and make dinner.”
“Are you sure?” Geo questioned as she stood, taking his empty cup with her own towards the sink, “you and Sora have a long journey ahead of you tomorrow.”
“Geo, you are the first person I’ve met that has truly loved Cole,” Nya put her hand on the Munce’s to ensure that yes, she had his attention, “and right now, you are the one he needs. You’ve helped him through this before, I would have no idea what to do.”
Geo nodded as he stood, and Nya could have sworn that she saw a shiny tear trickle down his cheek but he made no move to acknowledge it as he walked back toward his and Cole’s shared bedroom, only stopping to turn back toward Bonzal and say, “help Nya with dinner if she needs it.”, before disappearing behind the wooden door.
Cole knew that if he stayed perfectly still and kept his eyes closed, the migraine would pass. It would take time and he would be bedridden for the rest of the night, but he knew that the throbbing in his mind and the subtle churn of his nauseated stomach would pass.
In the years that had passed in the Land of Lost Things, he got used to the throbbing of the scar that had come from the rift in the sky sealing around the left side of his skull.
He knew that any of the other ninjas would have been just as freaked out as he had been when it had started, he also knew that it had been foolish to believe that it had just been from the lack of adrenaline from fighting the Hoarder that first time.
But, he had Geo to get him through it by letting him rest his pounding head on his chest and the comforting squeeze of his arm around his shoulders. It didn’t stop the pain, the nausea or even the fainting, but it was enough for Cole to ground himself and know that he would get through it just like he had before.
“Hey,” the tender whisper broke through his thoughts, resting his gentle hand on Cole’s bare shoulder which gave him the strength to open his eyes in the pitch black room, “how’re you feeling?”
“Honestly?” Cole couldn’t stop his voice from trembling as he spoke because even moving the muscles in his jaw sent a flash of pain through his head, “like shit, the migraines…” he hesitated, but given the little of Geo’s face he could see through the makeshift blackout curtains that covered their windows, Cole knew that his boyfriend knew exactly what he was gonna say, “I think they’re getting worse. The screaming is getting louder.”
Geo’s mouth was pushed into a tight line, the face he made whenever he was deep in thought; Cole had seen it before, when the two of them discussed the Hoarder with Bonzal to try and figure out what exactly it was and how to stop it for good, as well as when the migraines first made their appearance and Geo had tried everything to remove the pain before it was decided that they should just try and manage the pain instead.
“You should go with Nya, Riyu and Sora tomorrow,” Geo finally spoke, and despite the pain, Cole immediately sat up in protest, “Cole, lay back do-”
“I am not leaving the boys, I am not leaving Bonzal and I am not leaving you,” Cole shook his head and fought back the wave of nausea that it caused as he grasped onto his boyfriend’s hands, “you four can’t leave, I can’t leave you.”
“Ninjago has more sufficient medical technology-”
“But Ninjago doesn’t have you,” Cole cut him off, his vision trying to dim around him due to the overexertion, “I need you, Geo.”
“I don’t want you to leave, Cole,” Geo’s voice trembled as he set a gentle hand on his chest, forcing his throbbing head onto the pillows, “but I also don’t want to lose you.”
Cole sighed as he chewed on the edge of his lip; he understood everything Geo was saying and he knew that his boyfriend wasn’t pushing him away because he no longer wanted him around but more so that he couldn’t find another solution to the problem and he knew that, in the depths of his mind where only the truest honesty inside of him was, he knew that the only solution had to be stopping the Merge Quakes.
“I love you, Geo,” Cole sighed as he moved to allow the Munce to get in bed beside him so he could rest his head against his chest, knowing that if this was the last night that he would be with Geo, then he was going to make sure that it ended on a good note, “and I swear that as soon as all of this is over, I’ll come back and bring you four with me.”
“I know you will,” Geo spoke softly before pressing his tender lips to the top of Cole’s head, wrapping his arm around his shoulders, “and Cole?”
Cole turned his head to look into Geo’s shiny eyes, feeling his own tears start to build up from both the migraine and knowing that this could very well be the last time that he shared the night with his boyfriend.
Despite all of that, Cole couldn’t help but smile when their lips met, the familiar sensation of nothing but pure love bringing his attention away from the pain for just a few moments before Geo pulled away and said what he got his attention for in the first place.
“I love you too, and if you can’t get back to us…” Geo stopped to push away Cole’s sweaty, raven-black hair away from his throbbing scar, never putting his fingers directly on it.
“Don’t finish that,” Cole pleaded, gently taking Geo’s purple fingers in his own hand, “I will come back to Bonzal, to the boys and to you. We’ll go back to Ninjago, and you guys can meet my dad,” he started to ramble, which he knew was from both the exhaustion and the migraine taking away his focus, but he had this conversation with Geo before deep in the night after they had their first kiss.
“And if we decide that Ninjago isn’t for us, we’ll go live with your friend, Queen Vania, in Shintaro,” Geo continued, pressing more soft kisses against Cole’s head while speaking, “and we’ll keep raising our boys where they’ll be as safe as they can be and where Bonzal will have so much thread and yarn that she’ll never run out of things to crochet or sew.”
“And when they’re a bit older,” Cole stopped to yawn, his eyes fluttering shut as he continued to mumble, “maybe we’ll have another one. I’ve always wanted three, you know.”
But as he let his eyes stay shut and his mind started to wander into dreamland, he heard Geo speak for just a few more moments.
“A girl, who we’ll name her after your mom,” one more kiss pressed to his forehead followed by a “good night, Cole” and after that, Cole couldn’t hear his boyfriend speak anymore.
He thought he heard the voice of Master Wu calling out to him, pleading with him to follow him, but it quickly faded to an empty void.
Spitz had burst into tears as soon as he heard that Cole would be leaving, his sobs turning into sniffles after Cole hugged him with a little bit of super strength and insisted that he would be back as soon as he could be.
Fritz was just as sniffly as Spitz when he hugged Cole tightly, but was much easier to cheer up with the promise of meeting the others, especially Kai, and the promise that he would be brought back the newest in ninja action figures.
Bonzal didn’t say much before leading the boys away, she didn’t even hug Cole, but when she stuttered over “bring me any bones you find, rock boy,” he knew that she was pushing back any of her emotions so he and Geo could have a proper goodbye without Fritz asking more questions about the dragon cores or Spitz becoming inconsolable about Cole leaving again.
But when the door closed, leaving the Master of Earth and the Munce alone, neither of them could break the silence as Cole pulled the backpack of his few things over his shoulder. He was still exhausted from the migraine that had overtaken him the day before, but the pain was gone and the screaming was quieter now.
Unfortunately, that also meant that his departure from the land he had called home, and the people he had called home for the last few years, was very real and not just an argument between him and his boyfriend.
“You be safe,” Geo’s voice broke through the seemingly impenetrable silence that had filled the living room as he rested his palm in Cole’s, the small burst of powers forming a brief heart shape around their hands, “you come back to us.”
“Geo,” Cole swallowed harshly, his mouth dry as he did, “tell me to stay and I swear, I will unpack this bag faster than the elemental master of speed,” Cole knew that he wouldn’t since he was the one who told him to leave the night before, but he was pleading just the same as his voice trembled into a honest stutter, “I-I love you.”
He should have known that Geo wouldn’t say another word, but the last thing he expected was for Geo to let his hand fall before walking with him toward the entrance. Cole wanted to take his hand again, to drop his pack and insist that he was staying, but that’s when Geo spoke one more time, pressing his hand to Cole’s cheek as he did, his eyes full of earnestness.
“You have to leave.”
And with that, Geo removed his hand from his cheek and turned around toward their bedroom, leaving Cole to stand in the entryway by himself.
His shaky breath filled the room as the water in his eyes started to fall, but he lifted his arm up, wiped away the tears, pulled the backpack tighter onto his shoulder and forced himself to walk out of the Rookery for the last time.
Despite that, he couldn’t stop himself from turning around for a brief second to try and get a glimpse of Geo from the window, only to remember that the blackout curtains were still up; so he continued walking toward Nya, Sora and Riyu to tell them that he would be going to follow Master Wu’s voice instead of coming with them.
But he knew that he wouldn’t tell Nya the reason that he was wiping heartbroken tears from his cheeks and if she pressed, he knew that he would have to lie to her only so she didn’t release any of her powers on the Finders.
‘I will return,’ Cole told himself as his eyes caught onto the small group in front of him, ‘and we’ll all make it back to Ninjago.’

Skybound Scene Rewrite, but there are actual character arcs and themes that follow through and stuff
Aka, the lighthouse scene: Bad Ending
The heavy evening air came in warm and salty from the windows. They both knew a battle was imminent, but there was nothing left to do but wait.
“I want you to have this.” Jay gingerly handed the full teapot to his companion. “If anything happens to me, use the Traveler's Tea to get yourself out of here. He's convinced he's going to marry you. If that happens, nothing can stop him.”
Nya’s face soured, as she slumped back, hands gripping the strap which now held the tea to her body
Jay’s face puzzled to match her’s, trying to read her emotions. “Uh...um...you're upset. What did I say?”
Nya sighed. “It's nothing you said. It's just...both of you seem so convinced you see a future with me.”
Jay reached forward to place her hand on her shoulder. “Well, the good news is, we already know which one of us is right.”
Nya jerked herself away, groaning. “You really don’t see that as a problem?”
“What?!” Jay stood back defensively. “It’s not like I’m wrong!”
“Don’t you see how imposing you’re being?!” Nya pleaded with him.
“I’m not being imposing, I’m just stating the facts!” Jay stressed. “I don’t get what I’m doing wrong! Where is all this resistance still coming from?!”
Nya’s eyes narrowed, fiery adrenaline now rushing through her body. “Oh, you’re unsure why the girl you claim ownership of won’t stop resisting you?”
“I get it,” Jay sighed, rolling his eyes. “We had this whole blow out, and you couldn’t choose between me or Cole, you were confused, but it seems that decision is pretty easy to make now, isn’t it?”
“It was never about choosing between you two-”
“Then what was all of this for?!” Jay wave his hands around, his body tensing up again.
“Being able to choose!” Nya screamed back. “To be able to make a choice!”
“Well guess what, your choices are now pretty limited.” Jay narrowed his eyes as he leaned forward. “And I’m the only one you’ve got left, so I don’t know why you’re taking so long to decide.”
“I don’t have to choose you.” Nya folded her arms.
“I don’t think you’re getting it. There’s no point in delaying everything with this defiance period.” Jay continued, exasperated. “I saw the future! You were with me! It’s going to happen!”
“I know!” Nya yelled back, tears beginning to leave her eyes. “I know, I know already! I knew before you did!”
Jay paused, his anger still writhing. “What?”
Nya wiped away tears, her voice lowering. “I knew. I already knew.”
Jay’s face furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean ‘you knew’ you didn’t-”
“You think Zane’s the only one on the team getting visions?!” Nya cut him off. “The universe told me, a long time ago.” She turned her back to him, her shoulders hunching as she held herself. “The night I met you, I had the most vivid dream. So tangible, that I knew it had to be a premonition… and I was with you.”
Jay’s mind raced, struggling to process the new information. “So you knew, the whole time we’ve known each other? Through the dating, and the Cole situation…”
Nya turned back around, but her eyes still refused to look back at him, now swollen and drowning. “You couldn’t talk the day I met you,” she smiled. “So the first time I heard your voice was in that dream.” The tears started to slow as she recalled the memory. “I didn’t recognize where we were, or even really know what it was we were doing, but I remember feeling so happy.”
“That’s all I want.” Jay slowly moved forward, making an attempt to grab her hands. “I just want you to be happy.”
Nya ripped her arm back, wiping away more tears. “No you don’t, Jay.” She shook her head. “You want you to be happy. And you think you need me for that to happen.”
Jay thought for a moment, still uncertain what all of this meant. “You said you were happy in the dream. Doesn’t that mean you’d be happy with me?”
“You know what, maybe one day I would be, Jay,” she shrugged. “But even if I do end up with you eventually, and it does make me happy, you know what I know for sure?” her eyes narrowed as she looked up at him. “You don’t make me happy right now.”
“Nya-”
“I’m serious!” she snapped back, straightening up. “I don't care what the future holds, you're asking me to be in a relationship with you right now, and that is not something I want right now. I don't know how you can't get that through your head."
"And, what? I'm just supposed to wait around for you to change your mind someday for some undiscernible reason?"
"You're supposed to stop! I hate being around you when you’re all starstruck and pushy like this. I hate the way you look at me. I hate having to endure all your endless attempts to impress me, and I hate having to pretend like it didn’t happen, or be seen as the jerk for pointing it out! And I hate having to tell you no, repeatedly, constantly, in as many ways as I can think to, only for you to ignore it, and continue to treat me like a video game you just haven’t figured out how to win yet!” Nya’s rage faded, a few more tears falling down her cheeks. “I hate being around you, and as much as you might feel you need me, I do not want you.”
Jay stood there, unable to accept the words being thrown at him, but unable to rebuke them either.
“And you know what?” a strict confidence entered Nya’s voice as she moved closer. “The man I knew in the dream would have respected that. He would have stepped away a long time ago. So, if you can’t do that-” her finger pushed forward, resting on his chest as her eyes stared sharply down into his, delivering with them a certainty of her words. “Then you are not the man I marry.”

HII POOKIEE!! I wanted to request something for ninjago if that was okay with you😋
Basically hc's about all of the main ninja having a rocky relationship with the reader who is their little sister. They have a rocky relationship bc of things that happen in the past (like family issues that they blame each other for ya feel me?) and it leads to them having arguments in the present. Sometimes it gets so bad they have full on arguments where they yell at each other and blame each other for that specific event in the past(and for some scenarios the fighting gets so intense the other ninja have to break them up😋.) In the end however they reflect on the past and apologize to one other and that's the starting step of fixing their relationship as siblings. (also you can choose if you want kai and nya to be in the same scenario or different ones whatever is easier for you🤍🤍)
Hopefully that made sense I'm so sorry if it didn't!! Anyways have a nice day/night pookie and remember to drink water.🤍🤍
Of course lovebug!! You sweet thing,,,,
This turned out pretty long, so settle in campers
Ninjago - Elemental Masters' Rocky Relationship with Their Little Sister
Zane
(you're the adoptive daughter of Dr. Julien)
You were human. He was a robot. Issues were bound to arise
Ever since you were young, you always competed for Dr. Julien's attention
Though it was never spoken, you both felt that you were his real kid, and your sibling was not
You saw it as a huge win when Zane's memory switch was flipped and he was cast out of your lives
You stayed with Dr. Julien, finally feeling like his real child
But as the years passed, you found yourself missing Zane more and more
When you reunited, it was the happiest day of all of your lives
The three of you cried and hugged more than you'd ever done before or since
For a while it was perfect... too perfect
You didn't compete for Dr. Julien's attention anymore, but you didn't exactly talk it out either
When Dr. Julien died, the problems sprang back
In your grief, both of you took it out on each other
"You were always his favorite! All those years, you know what he talked about? 'Zane, Zane, Zane!' It made me sick! And where were you?! Not there! Not with us!"
"You think I wanted to go away? Do you even know the pain I went through? You wouldn't understand; you're a human. And all the while you were living happily ever after with him!"
It was off-putting for the others, seeing Zane so angry so often
They hated seeing him like this, so they devised a plan
One night, you were told to head to the TV room to watch a movie
It was dark when you entered, and someone locked the door behind you
The lights turned on, and Zane was on the couch
You were both shocked to see each other
He had been told the same thing as you
But you both had been duped! :O
Before you could bark anything at him, and before he could spit anything at you, the TV turned on
One of Dr. Julien's videos he filmed when you were both young started playing
He was laughing, trying to hold the camera still as you tugged on his arm
"I wanna tell Zane I love him too!"
"Hold on, Y/n, I've only just pressed the record button... Hahaha, okay, okay, you win! Here."
"Zane, I looooveee youuu!! Even though you're made of metal, you're still my brother and, and, and I don't want another one, even if he's human."
When the tape cut, you both glanced over at each other
Your eyes were filled with sorrow, your former hostility forgotten
You got to talking about your childhood, especially your memories with Dr. Julien
The talk ended with you two hugging tightly, not saying anything more
There was so much more to discuss, but you both knew that this was a good start to fixing what you once had
Cole
Growing up, you were both begrudging dancers
You bonded over sore feet and hating dance competitions, and you were thick as thieves
But as the years went by, you saw Cole's contempt shine through more and more
When he said he was going away to an art school to continue to study dance, you knew he was lying
It made you angry that he wasn't as devoted to dancing as you were
Sure, you didn't really like it either, but it's what you were raised on
Besides, it made your father so happy to see his kids dancing on a stage
Didn't he see it? Why would he just walk away from dancing? He didn't hate it any more than you did, and he was far from talentless
Letters from Cole were few and far between, and you felt a pang of rage whenever your father would read them aloud at dinner
Here you were, working your bones to dust to become the skilled dancer your father wanted you to be, while he was out there doing lord knows what
AND he was lying about it; that was what really got you
You started sending letters back in secret, berating him harshly for lying and interrogating him about what he was really up to
He ignored your letters, but started slipping snide comments into the ones he sent to your father
He must have known that they would be read aloud to you
You returned the snarkyness tenfold in your letters, and things only escalated as years passed
When he finally took the time to visit home, your blood was absolutely BOILING
He was so obviously lying about everything! Why didn't your father see it sooner?
You both put on friendly faces in front of him, but when you were alone the tension culminated
You exploded at him about abandoning you and your family's legacy
He exploded at you about being so cold to him for doing what you didn't have the courage to do
"You think I want to dance? No! But do you see me running off with some weirdos, punching and kicking other weirdos? No!"
"You're just mad because I'm happy now! Or is being dad's perfect little ballerina really just so satisfying for you?"
The argument ended abruptly when you burst into tears
He was right, and you hated it
He softened when he saw you crying; he knew that, all these years, you were really just taking out your fears and frustrations on him
But that didn't excuse your behavior, nor did it excuse the way he reflected your aggression right back
Gritting his teeth and huffing, he put out a hand for you to take
"I'm... sorry."
You looked at him, surprised
Seeing him made you remember how close you used to be
You wanted that again. You wanted him to show you how to be happy like he was
"Me too. It wasn't right, what I did to you. Can we start over?"
"I can't forget what you did. But I can forgive you. I think."
It would take time, but it would happen. That's all you really wanted.
Kai and Nya
You felt left behind
At first, when Kai started training to be a ninja, you still had Nya to share your woes
But then she started getting secretive
You noticed the muscles in her arms becoming toned; more toned than they should've been from basic mechanic work
You knew something was up, and your suspicions were proven right when you discovered that Nya was a samurai
You still bonded over not being taken seriously as fighters, but you could feel the gap between you widening
When she became the water ninja, you never felt more alone
Years of having to hang back on every mission, being used as leverage by villains, never being seen as more than a damsel in distress... and now you had no one to confide in
It made you so bitter
Your sweet, youthful innocence that made you the adored little sister figure of the group dissolved
You were touchy and guarded, especially when it came to Nya and Kai
Mainly you channeled your anger into passive-aggressive comments, but you also provoked your siblings quite often, which earned you the same treatment you were giving them
"Oh my--- Kai, can you actually shut up? I'm trying to read!"
"I'm literally training! What do you want me to do? Just put your stupid book down and go do something useful. Oh, wait, you can't!"
The others would often have to step in to defend Kai and Nya from your constant verbal attacks, and vice-versa
One night, the three of you were alone on the Bounty
A particularly volatile argument ensued
You let it slip that you felt weak powerless compared to them, and that it pained you to see them running off kicking butt together while you had to hang back
They were both floored by this
Nya ran over to hug you right away
"Y/n... I remember how that felt. I can't believe I didn't think of you when I went off to become the water ninja."
Though Kai couldn't relate, he recognized that you had been alienated
He joined the hug
"I know I haven't always been as close with you as Nya... I want to fix that. I want to fix this."
"Really..? Then... can you train me? So I can come along on missions with you guys?"
"Are you kidding? Let's head to the dojo right now!"
You all knew you'd still have to deal with being less powerful than your elemental master siblings, but at least you wouldn't feel as powerless as you've been all these years
Lloyd
You were the children of the dark lord, of course you hated each other
It was just part of what you both thought was your "evil" nature
But when Lloyd went off to Darkley's, you were alone
You decided to run away with aspirations of starting your own evil gang
But, being so young, you obviously failed
You actually ended up in the care of your estranged mother, who showed you the light
You turned away from your evil past and instead joined Misako on her archaeological adventures
Imagine your surprise when you reunited with Lloyd all those years later when Wu needed Misako's assistance
You'd think that, with both of you no longer being evil, that you'd get along now
Nope
For some reason, you still couldn't find it in your hearts to be nice to one another
It was second nature to treat each other like garbage
You argued, pulled pranks, provoked each other, sabotaged each other, destroyed each other's things... the list went on
The other ninjas were wary of your relationship
They were wondering if this was within the realm of "normal" sibling rivalry
Their final cue that it was not normal was when it continued after Lloyd drank the tomorrow's tea
He acted mature and level-headed towards everyone and everything except you
They knew that this was a real problem; how could Lloyd be expected to defeat Garmadon when he couldn't even try to be nice to his little sister?
They staged an intervention, which Lloyd was surprisingly receptive to
He didn't like it, but he knew he had to try to cultivate a better relationship with you
So, he stopped antagonizing you (as much as he could manage)
You noticed, and somehow you felt compelled to do the same
You could never completely abandon your old ways, but deep down you both knew it was for the better
Neither of you wanted to keep this up forever, so you might as well stop now
By the time the final battle was on the horizon, you managed your first ever remotely pleasant interaction:
"Hey Lloyd... don't die. Please."
"Same to you. Stay safe."
Jay
You always hated Jay, and he always hated you
Your earliest memory was literally him trying to steal your toy, and you throwing it in his eye
You had no explanation for this, only a burning rage that never seemed far from your mind, especially when Jay was around
It certainly didn't help that you two were practically joined at the hip your whole lives
This, too, you had no explanation for
You just always followed each other
When he went off to be a ninja, you went off too
You didn't regret it one bit, especially when you befriended Nya
She taught you so many things, and you became a skilled mechanic with her guidance
But one thing you didn't like about Nya was how she always pointed out the similarities between you and your brother
"Huh. Jay taps his fingers in the same pattern when he's bored, too."
"What? Tch, he must be copying me."
You were livid when Jay started showing an interest in Nya
You were convinced that he was trying to steal her from you just to spite you
Unfortunately, this resulted in Nya frequently being caught in the middle of your arguments (literally)
"Nya wants to finish her project with me!"
"No, she wants to watch a movie with me!"
It was Nya's hardheaded nature that diffused these arguments
"I don't want to hang out with either of you if you're going to be so immature."
She kept to this promise; from that moment, she completely ignored the both of you
This drove you closer to one another
You both knew that you'd have to stop your constant arguing if either of you ever wanted to talk to Nya again
"Look, I don't want to be ignored forever any more than you do. So, I guess we can start with... I don't know, why do you hate me, Y/n?"
"Because... I... I... I don't know. Why do you hate me, Jay?"
"... I don't know."
"So all these years we've antagonized each other-"
"For no reason??"
"That's so stupid!"
"You're stupid! ...Sorry, that was a reflex."
"No, you're right. It looks like we're both idiots."
It would take a long time to forget habits literally tracing back to your births, but you would both try your hardest
Tumblr media
Sorry this turned out pretty long ^^" hope you enjoyed anyway! Thanks for reading this far,, and thank you anon for your request!

Whumptober 2023 Day 2 - Delirium
Day 2 here we go! Some good ol' fashioned Pilots era Jay whump! We all love to see it and I know you guys wouldn't expect anything less from me ^^
@splinnters here you go! Your second tag of the day!
Words: 2.3k
“Zane, we need more ice!” Cole shouted, hauling the large bucket out into the hallway. He didn’t want to leave Jay alone for too long, but he didn’t want to give Zane anymore to do.
The boy came from around the corner, looking exhausted but dutifully picking the bucket up to drag it back to their small kitchen. He didn’t know how many times they had already been through this routine, but he would do it again and again as many times as it took.
Cole rushed back into the room, frowning. “Kai-”
“I know,” Kai was biting his lip as he wiped the washcloth over Jay’s face. “I know, Cole. He isn’t getting any better yet.”
“Fuck,” Cole cursed softly. He went to the other side of Jay’s makeshift bed, a cot they had dragged in from the monastery’s small infirmary, and pulled down the sheet that had been covering the blue ninja’s torso. Jay whined, head twisting from side to side as Kai kept patting him down with the cloth. “Where’s Wu when you need him?”
“He’s always been like this?” Kai said somewhat bitterly. Cole bit his lip, remembering that Kai hadn’t been with them for very long at all. It had only been a week or so since they had retrieved their golden weapons, and pretty much all of their time had been spent trying to make sure that Jay’s brains weren’t going to melt out of his skull. Wu had left them a few days ago to travel to the tea shop and get Jay some medicine, but everyone else in the monastery knew that they were far from qualified to be Jay’s sole caretakers.
If he was being totally honest, Cole was surprised how willing Kai had been to help. The red ninja was at Jay’s bedside constantly, offering soothing words that Jay only half-heard and taking up regular shifts to keep watch. It must be the big brother’s instincts that came from raising his sister.
Nya came walking in with more chilled water bottles, setting them down on the floor. “How is he?”
“Well, he isn’t any better, but at least he’s not worse,” Kai sighed.
“Let me know if there’s anything I can do,” Nya said, biting her lip, and Cole felt his heart ache as she walked away. They hadn’t known each other for very long, but Cole already knew that she was going to be one of his closest friends. Maybe even a sister.
Kai got up to help Zane with the ice bucket at the ice ninja’s call, and he quickly passed the cloth over to Cole. Cole bent over the sick boy, grimacing at the soft wheezes that left Jay’s mouth through cracked lips. His face was flushed beyond a healthy red, making his light freckles stand out against his skin. The skin under his eyes was chafing from the constant heat, his forehead shining with perpetual sweat and eyelids constantly twitching as he dreamed things that made him sob in the middle of the night.
Jay cried out, and Cole was quick to pin his hands down when he thrashed. “Jay! Jay, it’s okay, it’s just me-”
“No,” Jay moaned, “no, no, don’t hurt them. Please don’t hurt them!”
Shit, this was going downhill. “No one’s getting hurt, Jay, I promise. We’re all safe, it’s okay.”
He was whimpering when Cole swept the rag over his neck. “Please, please, I’ll do better just please-”
“You’re doing great, Jay,” Cole assured. “I promise, you’re doing amazing. I just need you to be strong for me, okay?”
“Make it stop, please. It’s too hot, it hurts. It hurts-”
“Zane’s getting the ice, Sparky. It’ll feel better with the ice,” Cole turned his head to the door. “Guys! We need that ice!”
There was a loud crash and Cole could hear his heart plummeting until Kai yelled back. “We’re fine! It’s going to be a few minutes!”
“Alright, Jay,” Cole muttered, reaching behind the blue ninja and hauling him upright, “change of plans. We’re getting you a new shirt.”
If they had the supplies to change his bedsheets everytime Jay’s sweat soaked them through then Cole would’ve been the first one to do so, but they didn’t. Between the four boys in the house they barely had enough shirts to sub in and out. Cole tried not to focus on how sweaty Jay was, how much his soft skin was chafing against the heat or how it was hot to the touch. He quickly threw on one of the shirts Kai had stacked beside the cot, one of Zane’s, and flipped Jay’s pillow over so the sweat-soaked side would have a chance to dry. Jay groaned as Cole lay him back down, reaching out to try and grasp Cole’s hand with half-lidded eyes.
Cole hated how rheumy his brother’s eyes were, pupils large and unfocused as he slid his hand into Jay’s. “There we go. Is that better?”
“Are you real?”
The question threw him for a loop, and Cole looked at Jay with a strange look. “Yeah? I’m here, Jay. I’m Cole.”
First Master Jay better not be losing his mind on him.
“It’s not a dream?” Jay sounded like he was struggling to comprehend the fact that Cole was real and standing right in front of him. “I have friends? Brothers?”
Oh. Oh.
“Yeah buddy,” Cole said as gently as he could, “we’re real. Me and Zane and Kai and Nya, we’re all real. No dreams.”
“But nobody’s ever wanted to be my friend before,” and Jay’s lower lip was wobbling in a way that Cole knew meant he was about to cry, so he was quick to cup Jay’s cheek and press a kiss to his forehead. He had already known Jay for years, and physical affection was the quickest way to get Jay to calm down.
“Well, we want to be your friends,” Cole soothed, thumb rubbing against the dark eyebags forming on Jay’s face. “And I know this is probably really scary, but it’s going to be okay.”
Jay shuddered, eyes opening and closing rapidly. “I always asked Ma and Pa if I could have a little brother.”
Cole’s brain short-circuited. Why was Jay telling him this?
“They always told me that they were too old to have another baby,” Jay babbled, “that they were lucky enough to just have me. But-but I didn’t want it to just be me. It was lonely living in the junkyard, and I know it wasn’t their fault and I love them so much but there was no one to talk to and any kids that did show up just made fun of me and picked on me and wrecked my stuff and said bad things about us-”
“And none of us are doing any of that,” Cole interrupted, rubbing small circles on Jay’s chest with a gentle hand to remind him to breathe. “”You know who I am, right?”
His heart started breaking when Jay hesitated. “I’m Cole, Jay. I’ve been your best friend ever since we met Wu, you remember that?”
“Mhm,” Jay said softly. “I-I think so. He’s been training us, right?”
“Yeah,” Cole nodded, “and we’re pretty damn good if I do say so myself.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Zane and Kai finally, finally made an appearance, carrying in the ice bucket and setting it down next to the chair that Kai had been using. Cole re-wet the washcloth, making sure to drag it over Jay’s neck and collarbone. “Sorry for the wait,” Zane said apologetically, but Cole just waved him off. It wasn’t really that big of a deal.
Kai shoveled the ice into several plastic bags with his hands, wrapping each one in paper towels as carefully as he could. He placed one at all the appropriate places: one under each of Jay’s arms, packing on his sides and under his knees, even one between his legs. This was something they had done more than once, and while Cole didn’t entirely understand the science behind it both Zane and Nya had said that it was the right thing to do, and he trusted them.
“Jay, is that better?” Zane asked gently, pulling up a new sheet and a thin blanket over Jay’s torso. Jay was shivering, teeth clacking together and head twitching from side to side, but he nodded in response to Zane’s question. Kai brushed through his messy hair with his fingers, twirling Jay’s natural curls around his fingers and scratching along the boy’s scalp much like how Cole would whenever Jay was distressed.
“Has he always had curly hair?” Kai asked. Jay hummed, fully content to let the red ninja do whatever he wanted with his hair.
“Yeah, he just hides it,” Cole explained, wishing Zane good luck as he gathered up the used sheets and clothes to run them through the wash. Zane was pretty much the only reason why the monastery was still standing, because the rest of them definitely weren’t getting any of their chores done.
“It’s actually kinda cute,” Kai commented, “really fun to run your hands through.”
“Exactly,” Cole said, “that’s what I tell him, but he doesn’t like it when it’s curly. And it’s up to him how he styles it, even if I wish he let it out more often.”
“Cause people used to make fun of me for it.”
Both of the boys stopped, and Jay made a sound of protest when Kai’s hands ceased their motions. “Hey, that feels nice.”
“Sorry,” Kai apologized, starting to scratch at the blue ninja’s scalp again, “but kids used to make fun of you for your hair?”
Jay shrugged as best as he could while laying down, sighing as Cole pressed the cloth to his forehead. “They thought it was weird that I had red hair when neither of my parents did, and that it was curly, since curly hair isn’t common in the Sea of Sands.”
“Well that’s stupid,” Kai said, and Cole sighed as Jay let out a weak chuckle. “Your hair is awesome, bro.”
“Meh, it’s not that awesome. It’s just hair.”
“But it’s yours, and that’s what makes it special,” Cole said. And he was telling the truth; more than once he found himself wishing that he had hair like Jay’s, with curls that bounced with every shake of his head and that glowed in the morning sun with the sheen off fallen leaves.
“You guys are really nice for dream people,” Jay said softly, and the two of them froze again, glancing at each other. Kai raised an eyebrow, and Cole could only shrug helplessly in response.
Cole rubbed at Jay’s sternum. “Buddy, I already told you that this wasn’t a dream, remember?”
“That’s exactly what someone in a dream would tell me.”
“It really isn’t,” Kai deadpanned, pushing the short bangs out of Jay’s face as tenderly as he could. Jay leaned into the touch, reaching out with a shaky hand to grasp at Kai’s forearm.
“Help me sit up?” he asked, and Cole was all too happy to lend him a hand. Jay wheezed as Cole held him up, quickly sitting behind the blue ninja so Jay could rest against his chest. Jay sighed as his head was pillowed in the hollow of Cole’s shoulder, shutting his eyes and grabbing Cole’s arms to wrap them around his waist. Cole hugged him close, pressing a kiss to the back of his brother’s head and tucking the blanket around both of their legs.
Smiling, Kai rested his head in Jay’s lap. “This better for you, motormouth?”
“Definitely,” Jay whispered, already sleepy even though he had put in the most minimal effort possible. He yawned, and Kai was more than happy to kick his shoes off and throw himself on top of the two’s legs. Cole was pretty sure that this cot was not designed to hold three people, but oh well. Jay relaxed, soft snores filling the air as he went back to sleep with Kai humming quietly and Cole rubbing his back.
Cole said hi to his other brother when he came back and Zane raised an eyebrow at their new positions, although he looked relieved to see that Jay had fallen back asleep. “Is there a particular reason you are all snuggling?”
“We are not snuggling,” Kai said, affronted at the mere notion that he would ever be caught in such an embarrassing act as snuggling, “Jay wanted hugs, so we gave him hugs.”
Cole was going to say something snarky in response when his hands brushed against Jay’s bare skin under his shirt, and he had to stop. Was it just his imagination, or did Jay feel just a little bit cooler than he did before?
“One of you grab the thermometer,” he said quickly, pressing the back of his hand to the blue ninja’s forehead and cheeks, trying to get a gauge on Jay’s temperature. “I think his fever might be breaking.”
Kai snatched it off of the floor next to his chair, wiping the metal tip off on his own shirt and sticking it into Jay’s mouth. Making sure it was under his tongue, the three waited with bated breath for the dreaded beep, and Cole was praying to any deity above that his brother’s temperature was finally starting to come down.
“What was it the last time we checked?” Kai asked when he withdrew the instrument from Jay’s mouth. The boy barely stirred from where he lay against Cole, but Cole was happy that he stayed asleep.
“104.7, Kai,” Zane recited, and Cole was glad that at least one person in the monastery had a good memory.
The fire ninja’s face lit up in a delighted grin. “It’s lower! It’s going down!”
And all three of them cheered as quietly as they could, but they were still loud enough to attract the attention of Nya from down the hall, but she only joined in once they told her why. Cole could only hope that this was just the beginning of the end of this particular ordeal, and that they would never have to deal with a fever like this ever again.

Carnations | Cole Brookstone x reader Part 8
Previous part, masterlist
Tumblr media
“Winter is coming.” Kai sighed as he looked to the sky and felt the breeze. It was cold but it was also the end of autumn.
“Alright, Jon Snow.” Jay scoffed.
“Sit down before you hurt yourself.” Cole added and Kai sat down in shame.
“Why can’t we go back to the monastery?” Peach asked and they all looked at each other with frowns.
“That makes so much more sense.” Jay said.
“The monks are there to protect them.” Cole added.
“The barrier is in place so no one can haunt Y/n.” Kai also added.
“The monastery is statistically the safest place for them to stay. Morro has made his plans to abduct them perfectly clear and it is actually unwise to keep them at a place he has already been and knows the location of.” Zane informed and they all looked between each other.
“Group huddle!” Cole stated and then ignored how it took two attempts for the hands to not phase through him.
“I’m actually really cold.” I said to Peach who was walking about like she hadn’t been shot the day before. The tea here really was magical and two doses healed up her wound in hours.
“Have you got a scarf?” She asked and I looked at her, incredulously.
“I came here with you! I’ve got Cole’s spare clothes and a Oodie which Wu gave to me because he thought it was a blanket.” I said and she shrugged.
“Misako has a lot of scarfs. She might lend you one.” Peach said and I debated it.
“Wu didn’t know I got him an Oodie? I thought so hard about what to get him as well. Man, I hate Christmas!” Jay yelled before getting pulled back into the huddle.
We all fell into our own conversations before:
“-sent a message! Ronin sent a message!” Nya yelled and we all jumped up. The boys threw each other out the huddle to look at and follow her.
0:57————|——— -2:10
I looked at Peach in question as a bird landed on Zane’s arm.
“Uhm…” I said and Cole smiled.
“Don’t question it.” He winked before the bird projected an image. I jumped in shock and he laughed a bit. Peach smiled in amusement.
“I can't talk loud, but I wanted to let you know, Nya, you were right. Morro didn't hold his end of the bargain. And Misako was right too. The scroll and sword did reveal the tomb. I know where it's located. I know you don't have the sword, but I know you can beat them to the tomb.” Ronin explained before gasping and looking off to side. “They're coming.” He said before the hologram disappeared.
“Where is it? Where's the tomb?” Jay asked frantically.
“The Caves of Despair! The tomb is in the Caves of Despair!” Ronin said before the message faltered and went.
“Caves of Despair? We've been there. I don't remember seeing any tomb.” Wu said and Misako looked at him.
“But there are still miles of unexplored mines. It could be there.” Misako reminded him.
“But why should we believe him? It could be a trap.” Nya said and Kai butted in.
“We don't have the scroll and we don't have the sword. With Lloyd's life at stake, what other choice do we have?” Kai reminded and Cole nodded, wrapping his arm around me.
“We're in.” Cole agreed with him and I looked up.
“Who is we?!” I asked, remembering the horror of facing Morro less than a day ago.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. What good will it do us if it's all just a setup?” Nya asked.
“The rest of the ninja are right. Even a misstep could be a step in the right direction. We cannot afford to do nothing. The ninja will go. As for you two, you're still not ready.” Garmadon said in our direction and Nya groaned at the fact no one was listening to her.
“But-!” Peach went to say and Garmadon grabbed both her shoulders to keep her steady and facing him.
“We cannot put you on the line when you’re the one thing keeping Lloyd fighting.” Garmadon reminded her and I moved towards her. “Those ghosts want you two girls. Your powers are key to them. You are key to them. You must stay protected and safe. No matter how skilled you may be now. It cannot protect you against Morro and it definitely can’t help you to protect, Y/n.” Garmadon told us, well mainly Peach.
“Do they really want to take us?” I asked and they all nodded.
“Big time.” Jay said and I frowned.
“What for? If they succeed… what are we going to do?” I said and Cole looked at me like I was stupid.
“Babe, whilst I’m out. Get some sleep please.” He said and I frowned at him.
“I slept like a baby last night.” I said in protest and he rolled his eyes.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“It's a wrap.” Ghoultar said and the Ghosts laugh as Morro releases Ronin from his possession.
“Pretty good impersonation. But they'll never buy it was me.” Ronin groaned and Morro looked down on him in amusement.
“We shall see.” Morro said and turned to look at Lloyd who was trapped in a cage.
“You're no Green Ninja. The Green Ninja would never need to lie. You’re no man either. A man would never plot to take advantage of girls they’re interested in.” Lloyd stated and Morro smirked.
“Oh, you won't be the Green Ninja for long. As for my manhood, don’t question it. Save your strength, because I'll be needing it. Prepare for a voyage. We head to the tomb at dawn.” Morro said and the ghosts cheered.
“What about Ronin?” Soul archer asked.
“Leave him. He's worthless now.” Morro said.
“I met those girls you and Cole can’t seem to shut up about…” Ronin told Lloyd who loved over to him with solemn face.
“Yeah?” Lloyd asked and Ronin nodded with a smile.
“They’re really something…” He said and Lloyd chuckled.
“They’re crazy.”
“Yep. I was trying to word it nicely but… yep. Cole’s girl… Y/n?… walked in on me taking the sword and told me to help clean the shop. Completely clueless.” Ronin told him and he chuckled again.
“She wouldn’t have known…” Lloyd said, tired.
“Are you going to be okay?” Ronin asked and Lloyd smiled at him, exhausted.
“Just help my team… and keep the girls safe. If you really do care… if not… go home.” Lloyd said and Ronin looked away guiltily. Holding his stomach which had been stitched by the ghosts.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Should I feel bad that I really hurt Ronin?” I asked and Peach turned over. The elders had advised us to try and get some sleep. I had slept like a baby the night before but Peach was a different story.
“Are you human?” She asked and I frowned.
“Of course.” I said.
“Than yes you’re supposed to feel things.” She said and I deadpanned.
“But you get what I mean, right?” I asked and she sighed.
“Do you feel bad?” She asked and I nodded.
“Yeah…” I said and she blinked.
“Okay… is this really bothering you?” She asked and I shrugged.
“A lots happened.” I said and Peach turned back over.
“A lot does happen around here. Just wait until you see the monastery, it’s really pretty.” She told me and I laid back down. We had both decided to share a bed for some reason.
“Did you know Lloyd has a dragon?” I asked and She sighed again. Wanting to sleep.
“Yes… I named him.” She said and I turned over.
“They all have names?! Like they are dogs?!” I asked and she nodded.
“Rocky, Wisp, Flame, Shard, Tidal and Pooch.” She said and my jaw fell.
“You named Lloyd’s dragon Pooch?!” I questioned and she shrugged.
“He looks like a Pooch! He wags his tail and everything when gets really excited or you scratch the right spot!” She exclaimed and my eyes widened even more.
“You pet it?! Him?! You do realise how massive and scary they are?!” I said and she shrugged.
“Their emotions are linked with the ninjas. They won’t hurt you or dislike you unless the ninja have some sort of thing against you.” Peach said and I shook my head.
“I’m going to sleep. This is all so fucked.” I said and I felt her nod.
“You get used to it.” She told me and I paused.
“How?” I asked and she sighed.
“It becomes your life… normal in a sense. And they make it worth it. You’ll see.” She told me and I paused again.
“I think I haven’t been with Cole long enough to say that yet…” I said.
“What you think and feel are two very different things.” She told me and I shrugged.
“He still hasn’t asked me to be his girlfriend.” I said and she giggled.
“He calls you that. Told the boys and Lloyd that he’s in love with you and that he thought it was already established. But talk to him if it’s still bothering you.” Peach said and it went silent. It was a good 10 minutes before I went to talk to her again.
“What about if Morro-“
“Fucks sake, Y/n, I was almost asleep!” She groaned.
“I’m sorry.”
0:57————|——— -2:10
When we got onto this flying ship? I don’t know. How many missed calls do I have from my college? We’re in the double digits. The things you do for a giant, bulked up, good-looking, kind, treatsyoubetterthananyoneevercould, man with good hair too. The senseis and Misako were at the top desk and Wu had his hands placed firmly on the wheel. I still didn’t feel like he knew how to drive it.
“Do you think they even know we’re here?” Peach asked and they all turned around alarmingly.
“They might.” I said sarcastically and she shrugged.
“Do you two know how dangerous-?!” Wu began but Peach put a hand up.
“If I hear that again I’m gonna lose my mind so yeah.” She said and Wu shook his head. “Also if we get Lloyd back I’m not waiting until he gets back to see if he’s okay or not.” She said and I nodded.
“I’m also worried about Cole. They’re literally underwater right now.” I said and they shared a look before Wu shrugged and went back to steering.
“These two are your responsibility, brother.” Wu said and Garmadon sighed and shook his head.
“You will not engage with any fighting. You will stay on this ship and help to treat the inevitably injured ninja.” Garmadon said and we nodded like children and his gaze softened. “See I told you we should’ve let them join from the start.” He said to his brother and wife who looked back at him incredulously.
“Brother…” Wu said in disapproval and Garmadon stood his ground.
“You said they are to be my pupils, I have faith in them.” Garmadon said and Wu rolled his eyes.
“What does he mean pupil- what do you mean pupil?” I asked and Peach crossed her arms but she looked like she already knew what was going on.
“Well, in order to live at the monastery, you have to be training or teaching. Since you two will be living with us from now on, you have to be training.” Misako said and Peach looked tired all ready. I shook my head.
“But- I’m in college?” I questioned and Peach frowned.
“We’ve been gone a week. Missed all our lectures and we’re ignoring their calls. I think when I next step in that apartment I’m gonna see two letters that say “bye bye” on them.” Peach told me and I shrugged.
“I’m out of 9k then.” I huffed and Peach frowned.
“You were on a scholarship.” She said and I shrugged. “Well you’re out of 9k then.” I said and she frowned again.
“Not exactly-“
“You weren’t on a scholar!” I said and she looked at me.
“No but Borg was paying my college fees.” She said and my jaw dropped.
“Cyrus Borg?!” I asked and she nodded. “What the fuck?”
“Borg funds our monastery and pays any tuition fees for the ninja and Peach as a thanks for the countless times we’ve saved him but mainly from the overlord.” Garmadon said and Misako elbowed him in the side.
“Gratitude, dear. Let’s leave it at that.” Misako said and Garmadon gave us a knowing wink.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Is everyone okay?” Zane asked as they all stood up from the giant ice slide they just fell down.
“What did we get ourselves into?” Kai asks and moved towards the walls of ice.
“Oh, it's a maze! I'm great at mazes!” Jay says after he climbs one of the ice walls.
“Huh! Whoa! If my reflection means anything, I'm starting to think we won't be breaking out of this maze any time at all.” Kai said, as the older reflection of himself mirrored his movements,
“My reflection. Is that...me? I look older, but our attire is different. I don't believe these reflections reveal our inability to escape, but a mere glimpse of our future selves.” Zane filled in and Cole kicks himself off of one of the walls and turns to look at his reflection.
“Misako said "To move forward, don't look ahead." Is that what it means? Wait a minute, why is it I can't see my reflection? Where is my reflection?” He says alarmed. No reflection? Does that mean no future? Is he going to die?!
“It's probably because you're a Ghost.” Kai said,
“Ghosts cast reflections, Kai. He's probably just looking in the wrong place.” Zane said and Cole hoped he was right.
“I am looking at the same place you are.” Cole told him.
“Hey, guys, guess what. I get an awesome eyepatch! And there's something else…”He gasps when he sees it's Nya.
“What, Jay? What is so great that you see that I clearly cannot?” Close said, frustrated.
“N-nothing. Just an eyepatch.” Jay backtracked and Cole rolled his eyes before looking back at his reflection except he could see someone walking towards him.
“Wait a minute, I think I see me.” Cole said and the figure walking towards him became more visible until his girlfriend was stood in his reflection’s place. She was older, smile lines beginning to form yet still so beautiful with a child in her arms who was cuddling into her. The child didn’t look like her or Cole and he felt his heart sunk. He looked at her alarmingly and she rolled her eyes in her usual fashion and looked over her shoulder and seemingly yell at someone? A larger figure appeared and his older self appeared. He wore an orange headband in his hair and a few scars were visible on his face and bare arms. He kissed her and the little boy’s cheeks before staring back at Cole. His older self looked more confident, relaxed and content. From his reflection he could tell two things… 1) he wasn’t going to forever be a ghost. 2) he was going to marry and have a child with Y/n. Soon another figure appeared in his reflection but it wasn’t another person. “It's Morro! He's in the maze too!”
0:57————|——— -2:10
Soon we were at the tomb of the first spinjitsu master… Wow! I was staring at a mountain with a little opening on the side. How impressive. The two sensei looked at the tomb longingly, I looked at Peach questioningly. She only smiled at me and Garmadon looked to Wu.
“Do you remember when Father used to make us clean the golden weapons everyday all for a bowl of-“
“Rice pudding.” Wu finished off and smiled. “I should’ve found this a long time ago, if only I wasn’t so blindsided.” Wu said and Garmadon shook his head.
“If father wanted us to of found his tomb first, he would’ve made it so.” Garmadon told him and patted his shoulder.
I couldn’t enjoy their sentimental moment because soon I felt that sensation come over me. The one where the world feels so much intense. The one where my breathing and the beat of my heart is louder than those speaking next to me. Then I was face to face with someone. But they didn’t look like a ghost, they didn’t even look like they knew I was here. An older man with a bit of a goatee stared at me, a woman joined him. They were older but still clinging to their natural hair colour. The older man brought his hammer down on a piece of metal and it became clear. They were blacksmiths. He brought his piece of metal over to a fire and began moulding it into shape. The woman however brought two cupcakes towards him and handed him one. He looked at her with a sad look as she smiled to try and change the mood. “Happy birthday, Nya.” They said before blowing out the singular candle in the cupcake and holding each other, sorrowfully.
“What the hell was that?!” I heard Peach question and my eyes closed as my head began to pound. I forgot where I was and it took me a minute to realise I was on the floor.
“A vision…” Garmadon filled in and my throat felt tighter and dryer and I could swear I was about to throw up. I felt my eyes water as Peach began glitching. “-Do not give in! You cannot go where she sees. You are not ready.” Garmadon placed a hand on her as she closed her eyes tightly.
“I can’t! There’s no where to go to! She hasn’t seen into another dimension!” Peach told him before a blast of green energy sent us all flying across the deck and reminded us of why we’re even here. Lloyd was back in control of his body. Peach was flinging herself over the side of the ship as soon as she stood again and I felt myself begin to pass out. But god did I want to follow her. I pulled myself up and clung to the pole on the ship. The full ache from colliding into it kept me grounded. Wu wrapped my arm around his shoulders and helped me to stand.
“Do not waste your energy. You are not used to these powers yet.” He told me and I nodded.
“But Peach-“
“She may lack training but she has good control over her outbursts. She will be fine. You, however, must focus on yourself for now.” He told me and I watched the ninjas come sprinting out of the cave with Lloyd, carrying his weight between them as he tried his best to even stand and soon collapsed onto Peach, she held him and he closed his eyes in relief. She knelt into the sand and he wrapped his arms around her, tiredly. I felt all my energy dump and my knees buckled before I could warm Wu. The impact on my knees was all I could feel and I reached back to feel the back of my head, there was some blood on my fingertips. Probably from when I was flung into the pole on the ship. Thanks Lloyd. I groaned and went to sit up. What a shit day.
“-you alright? That was quite the hit.” Garmadon said as they both went to pull me up but I protested. Just wanting to sit for now.
“You’d be better off sitting down on the seats inside. Then staying out here.” Wu told me and I let them pull me up only for my weight to be transferred to someone else.
I felt hands lift my jaw up and I looked up to see Cole who smiled. He looked exhausted. He smiled and it didn’t take him long to pick me up and I leant into him, tired. He was still alive- well here. I held onto him in relief and he held me tighter as he began moving towards the entrance of the ship. I closed my eyes, ready to pass out.
“No baby, come on. Don’t close your eyes. I haven’t seen you all day. And boy have I had a long day.” He said and I chuckled.
“Tell me all about it when there’s not a hole in my head.” I told him and he laughed.
“Wait- a hole in your head?!” Cole asked and I shrugged just as Nya climbed on board.
“They took the Realm Crystal.” Nya said as she hopped on board and I pushed Cole shoulder to make him stop and turn around.
“But what about the others?” The other ninja arrive with Kai helping Peach to support Lloyd.
“Hey Pookie, rough day?” I asked him and he let out a hoarse laugh.
“Clearly not as rough as you.” He joked and I smiled.
“What? Didn’t enjoy your holiday?” Cole joined and he let out another laugh.
“Worst holiday of my life. Turns out… it’s not less tiring if someone else controls you.” He said and we laughed. “Sorry about the blast guys. Morro didn’t make use of the green bomb inside me.” Lloyd followed and Peach shook her head.
“You need to go to bed.” She said and he smirked.
“Why, you need me to catch up on lost time?” He asked and we all laughed as Peach shook her head.
“Oh my-“ she started but he carried on.
“-I think I’m just gonna have to lay there, let you be on top for once-“
“I will drop you-“
“-Don’t drop me, it’ll take me longer to be at peak performance-“
“-I’m going to drop you in a moment.” Kai joined in and Lloyd looked at him offended.
“You don’t need to be a peak performance-ah!” He said as both let go and be stumbled on his own two feet for a moment before falling back into them.
“Well they made it! All right!” Nya cheered and Wu nodded in amusement.
“I knew they could, thank goodness!” Wu said and Garmadon took over Peach holding Lloyd and she stretched out her arm.
“He weighs a fuck ton.” Peach complained and I laid back in Cole’s arm.
“I wouldn’t want to try and carry him.” I gestured to Cole who pretended to drop me.
“How dare you! I gave up cake-“
“-You literally buy the weird cake pop things from my shop every day-“
“-they don’t count, they’re like the size of my pinky-“
“-which is really big compared to any normal person’s middle finger let alone pinky-“
“-I get it! You have a size kink-“
“-I have one?! You’re the one who couldn’t stop comparing-“
“Enough! I know too much about your sex lives as it is…” Garmadon held his head in shame.
“Well, my son. You have saved him.” Misako said in thanks? I’m can’t figure out this sensei language.
“Yes. Yes, they did.” Wu said in pride. Okay this was a good moment.
“You all sacrificed so much to save me. Thanks…” Lloyd said and I nodded like I did anything.
“Heh, I promised to look after you, didn't I?” Kai said and ruffled his hair.
“But now Ninjago's gonna be cursed.” Lloyd told him
“Yes, but now we have you.” Zane said and I fought the instinct to say ‘aww’.
“And we’ve got our powers back too.” Jay added.
“As you get strong, so will we. And they haven't even seen us at full strength.” Cole said and then sent a wink my way. “Neither have you, doll.”
“How do we drop him?” Jay asked and I cringed too.
“Ick.” I said and his face fell.
“Worser than Kai.” Lloyd added and Cole turned sharply towards him.
“I turned into a ghost to save your ass and within the first two minutes of you being free- your insulting me?!.” He said and Lloyd raised his hands to the best of the ability.
“Sorry, dude.”

Numbing The Pain (or: everyone gets knocked unconscious :D) [Ninjago]
Soooo.... I kinda wrote a oneshot based on a headcannon by @jinxed-ninjago. I haven't really ever shown my writing to others, so we'll see how it goes. >:)
Cw: injuries, numbness, electrical injury and violence, uhhhhh... Overall angst?
In Jay’s opinion, being injured was less than preferable, for a number of reasons. Being stuck on bedrest every second of every day. Not being able to join the others for dinner as he listened to the laughter and joking echoing down the hall while he stared at the tray of food resting in his lap.
It wasn’t the other ninja’s fault he was lonely, he just really wished he didn’t have to stay in bed all the time. On the bright side though, he got to play video games all day, and he got out of the usual work to maintain the monastery. After all, nothing like the power of positive thinking!
It was a stupid injury. Why were legs so breakable?
They’d been training, like usual. He didn’t remember much, but he recalled being hit by something, then waking up to his leg in a cast and Cole apologizing profusely.
Apparently, Cole had accidentally lost control of his powers, and hit Jay with a boulder, causing him to land on top of Kai, unconscious.
He didn’t blame Cole though. He knew as well as anyone what it was like to lose control. It made him think of when they used to fight over Nya, as Cole had apologized. It was strange how far they’d come from that.
A sudden crash startled him out of his thoughts. More followed after that, banging and thudding and shouting. He heard the others rushing to meet the cacophony, and resisted the urge to leap out of bed and join them. They could handle it without him, and he’d (grudgingly) promised to stay put.
The sounds of fighting resounded through the room, and he grit his teeth. They’d be fine. He wondered what the heck was attacking them this time. The serpentine again? Nindroids? Maybe Garmadon had somehow come back again and was attacking? Some other random villain they’d never even heard of before? The questions raced through his mind like a river as he listened to the combat growing closer.
Abruptly, his thoughts were once again interrupted as Cole was thrown through the air, crashing against the wall beside him and crumpling as his yell broke off upon impact.
“COLE!!” Jay screamed as he slumped to the floor. “Hey, I already passed out this week! Don’t tell me you’re stealing my thunder,” he tried to mask his wrangled nerves with humor, but Cole didn’t answer.
“Oookay, so this is bad,” he mumbled to himself shakily as he considered his options. He could sit here and listen as the rest of his family was potentially defeated and/or hurt. He could try to help Cole (who hadn’t stirred yet but that was fine it’d be fine) somehow, without injuring himself more. Or, he could ignore his stupid broken leg and the pain that would undoubtedly follow, and go help them fight.
As he debated, Zane decided to join the party and hurtled into the room, landing on top of Cole. As his motion stilled, Jay gasped and held back a second scream as he took in the damage.
Half of Zane’s face looked as if it had been chewed on by a large, feral dog, ripped apart and unveiling the robotic parts underneath. One of his arms was missing, and there were open gouges displaying sparking circuits and wires, making sharp buzzing sounds. His eyes flickered as he spoke.
“S-system-m mal- mal-function- circuits-s ove-er loadd-ded-” his voice glitched before his eyes went dark and his body still.
Jay stared, open-mouthed, before he made a decision. Jolting upright, he leapt to his feet. Or at least tried to. As soon as any tension was put onto his foot, instant agony engulfed him, and he collapsed back onto the bed. Clenching his jaw tightly, he breathed through the pain as it slowly subsided the tiniest bit.
“C’mon Jay… You can do this!” he said, voice wavering, before trying again.
The pain was worse this time. His teeth grated against each other as his breathing became labored, but he managed to keep his footing this time. White hot knives felt like they were slicing up his leg, eventually getting so bad that it went numb.
“Well. That’s not good,” he said to the empty air as his voice quivered more. It still hurt, but now more like pins and needles gently poking him. Within a few more seconds, a lot of the feeling in his leg subsided, but he couldn’t stand any longer. Sagging against the bed, he slid to the floor. Now that he was off his foot, it started throbbing, making spots cloud his vision for a moment.
As he looked across the room at Zane and Cole (both still unresponsive, but at least Cole’s chest was rising and falling), an idea struck him.
“Huh… circuits… nerve circuits,” he said out loud as the idea developed. Sure, it was a very very stupid idea and could very well lead to bad results. But desperate times called for desperate measures, and by the First Master he wasn’t going to stand by! The shouting had intensified in volume, and he could make out the panicked voices of the other ninja. Besides, he and the others joked that his second elemental power was stupid ideas. That was his thing!
Mind still fuzzy from the aching torture he’d experienced moments before, he remembered Zane once infodumping about how nerves operated on electrical signals from the brain, and that when overloaded, could be numbed to pain (wow, he’d actually remembered that! See, he did pay attention, Kai).
Well. He was the master of lightning and therefore electricity after all.
“Oh boy. I’m definitely getting yelled at later for this,” he said under his breath as he closed his eyes and focused.
How was he going to do this? Could he even do this? Was it possible to shock himself? He’d never tried before, but had been shocked by other lightning on occasion.
He thought about it as he concentrated on his power. Using his element was like sneezing; almost instinctual, quick, and slightly jarring, pushing it outside of himself. So… he’d have to reverse that. Ignoring the feeling in his gut that this was going to be very terrible, he shoved the growing anxiety down.
Taking a slow, deep breath, he imagined he was inhaling electricity as well as oxygen, and it being distributed through his nerves.
A slight tingling sensation started circulating throughout his body, and he tried it again.
A blue glow emanated from him for a second behind his eyelids, sparking.
Then everything stopped.
The throbbing hadn’t just faded away. It was completely gone. Abruptly and instantly. And it wasn’t just the throbbing either; all feeling was absent. As he opened his eyes, he discovered that he couldn’t feel his clothes rubbing against his skin, the cold floor he was sitting on, the air stirring around him; it was all gone.
“Was this how Cole felt when he was a ghost?” Jay wondered, marveling at the numbness (and slightly panicking. He desperately hoped this could be reversed later).
Getting to his feet, this time without the agony part of it, he glanced back at his unconscious brothers one last time, then sprinted out the door and down the hallway, ignoring the way his foot crunched with every footfall. Doors blurred past him as he followed the sound of voices, now reduced to an alarmingly quiet level. There was no commotion anymore, sound just as absent as sensation. He drew nearer, then skidded around a corner and out into the training yard to observe the devastation that had transpired.
Wooden practice dummies had been splintered and broken apart, scattered everywhere. Sparring targets and weapons had been mutilated, somehow embedded into the walls and ground like shrapnel. Burn and scorch marks littered the scene, a part of the monastery wall crumbling. The sky was a deep gray, casting long shadows.
About thirty enemies were scattered around, standing at attention with their backs to Jay and seemingly waiting for something. Or someone. They wore dark, blood red kasas that cast their faces into shadow, obscuring them. White robes accented with blacks and oranges flowed around them, with brass cuffs wrapped around their wrists. Glowing gold fire designs engraved into the cuffs were arranged artistically to resemble flames wrapping around each other. Sleek black, braided hair fell down to their waists, with vivid, fiery ribbons interwoven into them. He guessed they were all female warriors. They stared straight ahead, toward the gate and eerily motionless. The voices he had followed were whispers, drifting and tangling with each other in the air and incomprehensible. It made the hair stand up on the back of his neck, but he shook it off.
Frantically, he cast his gaze around the yard, until he finally spotted the others. They were all dumped over in the corner, bodies splayed across the ground and faces contorted with pain, yet their eyes were closed and they all lay inert. After studying them for a moment, he noted with relief that they were all breathing.
Rage boiled inside of him, and his face hardened.
No one. Did. That. To the people he loved.
He turned back to the warriors spaced around the yard that still had not moved, hardly noticing the electricity starting to spark around his hands.
His emotions felt amplified. Stronger. His fury grew, consuming every other thought in his mind.
He started vibrating as the neon static spread from his hands to circulate and jerk around his body, intertwining ropes of blinding blues and whites.
Lightning flashed around his feet as he took slow, deliberate steps.
Finally, the enemies turned, and instantly and simultaneously crouched into fighting stances, raising various weapons.
Too bad for them, that did nothing but amplify the surge he finally let loose.
Sharp, blue-white cords arced toward each opponent, turning the air white and scorching. No sound escaped them as one by one, the strands of lightning hit them, causing their bodies to convulse. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement from the direction of the others, but paid no heed.
He ignored the way his body was steaming, and searched deeper as the unfortunate warriors still spasmed, unable to move and leave the current that he was feeding. There was no way he could stop now. He’d opened a door, and a thousand-pound waterfall had come gushing out.
He searched deeper still, disregarding the horrifying scene as he tapped into the energy stored within himself that he had put there in the first place.
Instinctively, hardly acknowledging what he was doing, he wrapped it into a twisted, contorted ball, then pushed everything out.
When it finally ran out, satiated, the air returned to normal.
Thuds echoed around the now-silent training yard, as each female warrior crumpled and hit the ground, steam spiraling from their clothes and skin.
Everything was bleached white, except for a small circle around the other ninja, where they lay untouched.
Nya was propped up on her arms, head lifted to gaze at Jay. He couldn’t tell what emotion it portrayed. There was admiration, and affection. But fear and horror was also painted across her face, and it pained him to know that he was the reason for it. She started to stand up, but Jay couldn’t think anymore.
Feeling had come back.
Everywhere was in excruciating anguish. His hands and arms were burned, with protruding raised zigzags of scorched skin beginning to turn red. He stumbled, wincing as he was suddenly very aware of his leg again.
“Nya. I-I’m sorryh…” he trailed off as his knees gave out.
“JAY!” she yelled as she dashed over to him, catching him before his head could hit the ground.
The last thing he remembered was being encircled by her arms as muffled shouts rose up around him. Trusting Nya to take care of him, his eyes shut, and he drifted off into oblivion, chasing away the agony.
Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. Just unconscious :)

Sensei Garmadon's birthday
"Tomorrow is Dad's birthday," Lloyd said to Misako.
"I know. I've been thinking for a long time about what to get him, but I just can't think of  anything."Misako answered.
"I was thinking of throwing him a surprise party." Lloyd said.
"Just something small; you know he's not a fan of celebrations and surprises."
"I know, Mom. But it would be just me, you, Uncle Wu, and the team."
"Okay, should I make the cake or do you want to?"
"Kai, Zane, Cole, Jay, Nya,  and I were thinking of making it. Can you take him somewhere as a gift? You don't have much time for yourselves because of work and training. And it would give us time to prepare everything."
"I like the idea!" Misako said.
"Do you think he'll suspect anything?"Lloyd asked.
"No, he won't." Misako smiled. "He wouldn't even remember if we didn't remind him." They both laughed.
GARMADON'S BIRTHDAY:
"Garm."Misako gently shook Garmadon to wake him up. "Come on, dear, wake up."
"What's going on?It's not even dawn," Garmadon mumbled.
"I wanted to take you somewhere," she said, rubbing his neck gently.
He smiled sincerely. ""You know I would love to, but the training..."
"I arranged with Wu that today only he teaches." He smiled at her.
"Well, you're a real genius," he said, kissing her forehead. "Only now will the ninjas be deprived of a good lesson." She nudged him playfully.
"I have no doubt." She kissed his cheek, and then they went to get ready.
~~~~~~~~~
"So, what kind of cake are we going to make for him?" Cole asked the other ninjas gathered in the kitchen.
"I don't know, what kind of cakes does he like?" Nya asked.
"Well, I don't really know; you know him, the whole thing with the diet pill that doesn't work, so watching calories." Lloyd said.
"So, he won't eat cake?" Kai asked.
"If he won't, I will!" Cole interjected.
"He will." Lloyd said "Whenever mom makes some cakes, she criticizes the calories. And then later she eats half of the pan, and guess what his  apology is?"
"Hmm, so Misako doesn't get angry?" Jay asked.
"Yeah," Lloyd said, and he started laughing.
"So what about making a diet cake?" Kai asked.
"No! That can't exist!" Jay yelled.
"A cake is a cake,!"Cole said.
"I found a recipe for a diet cake. It looks like it actually exists," Zane said.
"I don't think that's the best idea." Nya added.
"I totally agree." Lloyd said.
"fruitcake?" Kai  suggested.
"Yes,that sounds good." Lloyd says.
"Let's get to work then; I found the recipe!" Zan said, and everyone started pushing each others.and working.
~~~~~~
"Where were you planning to go?" Garmadon asked Misako as he rubbed her back with his hand as they walked.
"You'll see." Misako opened her eyes and took his hand. "We're close."
They walked for a while until they reached a small street in the suburbs of the city.
They passed it and came out on a beautiful beach.
"Wow," Garmadon said as they exited the street onto a deserted pier. "It's really beautiful here."
"It's really special," Misako said, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else or with anyone else. It's really special."
"I agree," Misako said. "It's really special. Special places for special occasions."
"S-special occasion?" Garmadon's face suddenly became serious.
"Did you forget?" Misako said, trying to keep a stern expression while suppressing a laugh.
"It's not our anniversary, is it?"
Misako shook her head.
"It's not your, Lloyd's, or Wu's birthday... I know! Valentine's Day?"
"Valentine's Day is in six months. "
"One of the Ninja's birthday?" Garmadon started to panic.
"You got the birthday wrong." Misako said, unable to hold back her laughter. "Yours," she said after the laughter subsided.
"Happy birthday, dear!" She said that and kissed him on the cheek.
"How could I forget..." Garmadon said. "And you scared me so much..." He said that and started tickling her.
"GARMADON!" Misako yelled as she uncontrollably giggled while he tickled her and planted ticklish kisses on her neck.
"STOP! We're not  kids!"
"I would take you seriously if you didn't say that with while laughting." Garmadon said, enjoying himself as he playfully tortured her.
"I'll throw you in the water!" Misako jokingly said when she wriggled out of his grasp.
"You can't, love; it's my birthday today, remember," he said confidently, teasing her.
"You're right," she said, pressing a kiss on his lips. "Then I'll kill you tomorrow."
"I have no doubt," Garmadon said, pulling her into his lap. "No doubt, my love." He gave her another kiss on the mouth and stroked her in his arms.
~~~~~~
"Okay, guys, we've put the first layer of cake in the oven. Now we need to make the cream, spread it on the cake, and bake the second layer. It's not that difficult," Nya said.
"Not for you," Kai said. "You're a woman, and we all know that women can do anything."
"I agree with that," Lloyd said.
"Our Zane is the exception, though," Jay noticed.
"And where is the cream for the second layer?" Zane said, changing the subject.
"What second layer?" Cole asked, licking the last remnants of something from the bowl.
"This is second layer!" Kai exclaimed.
"I thought they were leftovera!" Cole defended himself.
"Cole!" Jay and Lloyd shouted.
"You know you'll have a stomachache and probably feel nauseous after eating so much of that." Nya noticed.
"It contains raw flour and eggs, which are really bad for the stomach," Zane added.
"I don't feel anything." Cole said.
"Just wait." Lloyd sadly said, "My mom told me I did something similar when I was little. At first, I felt nothing, but later I had serious cramps."
"Ouch!" Cole exclaimed.
"But guys, what are we going to do with the cake?" Kai asked.
"Obviously, we don't have a second layer." Nya said. "We'll just have to add more cream and whipped cream for decoration."
"What if we try making the cake again?" Kai suggested.
"We won't have time," Lloyd sadly said, shaking his head. "I told my mom to come back at noon."
"Great," Jay said gloomily.
"Wait!" Cole said. "Who's watching the cake?"
"Oh no!" Everyone shouted and ran to the oven.
"It's okay," Kai sighed. "It didn't burn."
"It's right on the edge of burning," Lloyd said.
"I'll add the cream, and you, Zane, make the whipped cream for decoration," Nya said.
"Here," she said when she and Zane finished the cake. "It's not the best, but it's something."
The cake looked good, despite being tilted to the right.
"There's still whipped cream left," Cole said excitedly.
"You know what that means?" Jay exclaimed happily.
"No," Kai said.
"FOOD FIGHT!" Jay grabbed and threw a handful of whipped cream at Kai, who looked confused. He quickly retaliated. Soon, it turned into a big food fight.
"KHM!" A voice said something at the entrance of the kitchen, and everyone turned around. Sensei Garmadon stood at the door.
"You have five seconds to explain this," he said, looking at the kitchen, which was now covered in remnants of whipped cream and cream.
~~~~~
"Happy birthday!" All the ninjas shouted in unison, not knowing how to get out of this situation.
"We made you cake, dad," Lloyd said, and he brought him the cake.
"Thank you," Sensei Garmadon cautiously said, skeptically looking at the cake.
"It's not the best, but we tried." Jay noticed.
"I know," Garmadon smiled. "Thank you. It means a lot to me."
"Happy birthday, brother," Sensei Wu came and hugged Garmadon. "I assume you didn't come up with this yourself but that they or Misako reminded you."
"You assume correctly," Garmadon smiled.
"And now, the cake." Cole happily said
"Wait," Misako said, and she brought a candle. "I thought you should blow this." She put a question-mark-shaped candle on the cake.
"Very funny, Misako," Garmadon said.
"We thought about buying a hat too, but we didn't have time," Kai sarcastically said, and everyone started laughing, even Garmadon.
"And now let's finally eat the cake," Cole said, taking a step towards them.
"Ugh!" He was hit by a sudden cramp and fell over the whipped cream on the floor, hitting his head on the cake and scattering it all over.
"COLE!" Everyone yelled.
"I'm sorry!" He quickly said "I think I need to go to the bathroom." He said that and ran off.
"And now what?" Zane asked.
"Now you guys clean up all this." Garmadon said pointimg into the mess they made.
"And then we go to the evening training." Wu added. Everyone grumbled, but no one said anything.
~~~~~~~~~
"How is Cole?" Sensei Garmadon asked his son when he returned from evening training.
"Not good. He's been on the toilet the whole time." Lloyd replied.
"What happened to him?" Garmadon asked.
"He ate a whole bowl of raw cake batter."
"Ouch! And you did that once too," Garmadon said, smiling.
"I know; mom told me," Lloyd added.
"Yes, the three of us made some cake; she left for a second, and I turned to do something else. When she came back, she found you eating the whole batter. She went crazy on me."
"I wouldn't want to be in your shoes," Lloyd said, and they both laughed.
"Well, I'm sorry I didn't get to taste your cake," Garmadon said.
"Me too," Lloyd said. "Although maybe it's a good thing since we didn't heat the cream like we were supposed to because of some ingredients..." Garmadon laughed.
"You guys are truly masters."
"I know. Happy birthday again, dad," Lloyd said, hugging Garmadon.
"Thank you, son. And now let's not be late for the evening games."
~~~~~~~~~
The evening's games went well, with only a minor argument. Garmadon was happy to be surrounded by the people he loved.
~~~~~~~
"And how was your day?" Misako asked Garmadon as they both sat on the bed.
"Great." He said and grabbed her waist. "You know what can make it even better?" He asked her.
"What?" She aske challenging.
"You." He said and pulled her on top of him as he connected their lips
Day 16: Daily Life
Tumblr media
Okok, so, this is probably my absolute favourite out of all my other ninjtober prompts so far.
They're 100% watching starfarer, and this is what i believe all the Ninja would think of it:
-Zane enjoys it, but isnt all that crazy about it. Though he basically knows the entire plot, all the theories and everything due to Jays and Lloyds infodumping and his eager willingness to listen.
-Pixal finds the scenes and the general plot of the show illogical, but keeps her mouth shut because it makes her friends happy and thats all that matters.
-Nya, knows alot about it for the same reason Zane does, she obviously doesnt remember as much, but some of the characters are annoying to her which is why she looks like that lol
-Cole doesnt really understand whats going on, but he finds all the space stuff cool and likes comparing the aliens to those glowy space bugs they had to deal with that one time. Hes just happy to be there, lol
-Kai says he doesn't like it and always denies it, but he secretly enjoys some of the movies and is also glad Lloyd can be a kid when it comes to starfarer. He's asleep in the drawing because i feel like they just got back after a long mission and Kai had taken the brunt of it. Thats why hes asleep and also why Nya isnt currently yelling at him to get his legs off her lap.
-And we all know Jay and Lloyd love starfarer, lol
EVIL LAUGHHHHHHH
I FOUND THE HEADCANONS
——————
When wu asked Kai to join and become a ninja and save his sister, he did it out of necessity. Eventually he ended up unlocking his true potential to save his unofficial little brother, the chosen one. Life went by quickly and before he knew it Lloyd was 17! Then harumi happened…
Kai still remembers Lloyd coming into his room after a particularly vivid nightmare and having to sooth and calm down the kid. He would cry about how he “thought him and the others died” and “what he wouldn’t be able to do without them”endlessly. And for hours Kai would ruffle his hair and promise he was there and always would be. Kai wanted to endlessly pummel that girl into the ground, princess or not!
And of course Zane was zapped into the Never Realm! From what Kai heard from the nindroid during his panic attacks, he almost killed Lloyd with his cursed ice. It took months for Zane to be able to use his ice without breaking down into a giant ball of trauma and apologies. Kai was the only one that could touch the ice ninja, (due to the whole y’know ‘fire ninja’ thing) and warming up his panicked brother always calmed him down.
When prime empire occurred Jay was very clingy and never told anyone but nya why, well… until Kai found him outside the monetary smashing every video game he owned. Kai had to pull the lightning ninja away from all the scattered parts to stop him from hurting himself! The fire ninja brewed some hot chocolate and handed it to Jay, he sat and let the ginger yell, cry, and just all around go through the 5 stages of grief before giving him a vat of advice.
The day Cole unlocked the spinjitzu burst was the same day his mother died, the brunette knew this because every year he had to console the earth ninja in a varying amount of ways, whether it be a sparring sessions, or a cake and late night talk, or even just being there for him! But this year was different. Cole was hiding something, he acted like he was okay but Kai didn’t buy into his facade. He went to the training room to ponder this and help his skills at the same time, low and behold there was the noir haired ninja. He definitley was not fine. Cole stood shocked tear streaked eyes looking like a deer in headlights, caught. Kai sighed and sat motioning for Cole to sit with him, he complied. They sat in comfortable silence until eventually Cole leaned onto the younger’s shoulder sleepy eyes blinking desperately at conciousness. (Failing miserably) and kai leaned back on. If someone found them in there the next morning they wouldn’t say a word.
It was 2:34 in the morning when Kai woke up to the sound of rushing water. From nya’s room! He quietly rushed to his sister’s bedroom to see what was happening. When the red ninja arrived in the room he felt water rushing around him and he shivers remembering the time he almost drowned back in the whole ‘morrow incident’ he shivered but pushed his way into the room finding his younger sister fresh tears rolling down her face while still staring off at something behind the wall, in a dissasociative state. Kai knew what to do. This had happened many times before, nya always needed some help adjusting to being human again touches and reaffirming words always helped, so that’s exactly what Kai did. Eventually she calmed down but passed out soon after, Kai chuckled and tucked his little sister into bed, just like when they were kids.
Prologue [ Welcome to the Villains' World ] Chapter three
Tomorrow morning she already wake up and making breakfast for her, Grim and all her Pokémon.
She yells. “Guys!! it’s breakfast!!”
All at once her Pokémon came into the kitchen. She divided the Pokemon food between the 10 of them, then sighed. “I need that garden done today afternoon or tonight” She said as Grim walked into the kitchen.
“Uh, I’m hungryyyyyyyy!!” Grim said still half asleep.
“Good morning Grim” She greeted.
Grim smells the food, so he fully woke up and saw all the other pokemon that Grim didn't see yesterday.
“Nya!! You have so many monsters!?” Grim said out loud.
Just then, Crowley walked in with a very concerned look on his face.
“Are you aware that almost half of the garden have a lot of blue rocks and a lot of tree and a big river as well, what did happen last night?”
"Ah. I think some my pokemon did overboard with the landscape for my other that'll come later" Florida answered him.
“Very well, did you sleep well?”
“No!! When I went to bed, the mattress fell through the frame! And worse yet, I got woken up by ghosts!” Grim complained.
"I slept well" Florida answer Crowley.
Crowley smiled. “I am delighted to hear that you’ve adjusted so well, despite being sent to another world! Now, moving on let us discuss your assignment for today. Your job today is to clean the campus. The campus is vast, and without magic, it'd be quite a herculean task to clean it all. Therefore, today I’ll have you focus on the area from the front Gates to the library. I do expect that you’ll keep a close eye on Grim, lest he causes another incident like yesterday”
Florida nodding. But Grim seems like he doesn't like it.
“Don't fail me. You and a few of your…. Pokemon, can eat lunch in the cafeteria. I await the fruits of your labor."
The headmage headed out as Grim grumpily crossed his arms.
“Hrmph. I ain’t cleaning nothing! I'm here to study magic so I can be blasting off some spells left and right! Like BAM!!”
“After we clean, we can study in the library.”
Grim grumbled as Florida choose six Pokemon to come with her.
"Sylveon and Gogoat is coming with 100%, since we gonna clean so Cinccino, Jolteon and Espeon will come and Vaporeon too" She take her side bag and put on belt.
"Gardevoir, you'll be in charge taking care this dorm, also plant some berries too" Florida give Gardevoir a container that contained all berries.
Gardevoir nods her head letting Florida know everything will be ok.
Florida have everything she need and Gogoat already in front of the dorm wait for Florida to ride him. And Sylveon also there as well. Florida quickly jump on top of Gogoat and they go to the Main Street, towards the seven different statues of various figures.
She let Cinccino, Jolteon and Espeon clean the statues. Cinccino dust the statues and then make Vaporeon give them water by using Hydro Pump.
“Wow, so this is Main Street, huh? This is incredible!” Grim admired. “I didn’t get to see much of it yesterday. What’s the deal with these seven statues? All their faces look pretty scary”
Florida look and studied the statues "Maybe someone who really important in this land?" It make Florida remember one of her traveling in Galar, that one statue, when she visits someone.
“This lady here” Grim pointed at the statue at the end of the line on the right. It was of a large woman, wearing a dress and a crown, and holding a heart scepter. “Looks like she’s got some real anger management issues”
“You don’t know the Queen of Hearts?” a voice joined in.
The 8 of them turned towards the owner of the voice and saw a boy standing behind them. He in his uniform make him a student. A ginger with bright scarlet eyes and he had a heart over his left eye.
“The Queen of Hearts?” Grim asked. “Is she some kinda big deal?”
“She was a queen who lived in a mazelike garden of roses long, long ago.” The ginger explained. “She was a strict woman who prized order above all. She wouldn’t tolerate a rose being off-color, or her playing-card soldiers being out of step. She basically ruled over a kingdom of madness, but not one of her subjects dared to defy her. You wanna know why? Because the punishment for breaking a rule was immediate decapitation!”
“Sylveon” [That's a bit messed up]
"Jolteon" [I agree dad]
"Yeah I agree with Sylveon" Florida said.
“Wah! That is seriously messed up!” Grim whimpered.
But apparently, the ginger boy thought different. “Pretty cool, right? I’m a big fan. I mean, who would bother to obey a queen that was kind all the time?”
“Yeah true. A leader needs to be strong.” Grim nodded.
“Strong yes. But sounds like she’s abusing her power, that what a tyrant would do. Because if you try to rule only with fear, there would be nothing to stop people from rebelling against you once the fear is gone"
“Anyway, but puttin’ that aside… Who’re you, now?” Grim finally decided to ask.
“Name’s Ace. I’m a first-year student here, as of… today! Pleased to meetcha!” he introduced himself while he held out his hand.
Florida thinking should she shake his hand or not, but Grim didn’t wait for her to talk.
“I’m Grim! I’m a prodigy who’s planning to be, like the greatest mage who ever lived. Then there’s my far less interesting henchwoma—” Sylveon make Grim shut his mouth by using one of his ribbon because he couldn’t stand still while Grim being disrespectful to his trainer(his mom).
Florida didn’t mind that, she herself was getting a little bit fed up with the Grim’s disrespect too. And then she studying the ginger boy in front of her.
His smile was too wide to be genuine, he looked amused rather than pleased and she could see the mischief in his eyes. Her instincts were telling that this ginger is a troublemaker.
While Florida was studying him, Ace made a quick observation. She had this aura of elegance around her and maybe some intimidate aura as well She was average height, her white hair is really long, her eyes were a very light shade of blue. And her odds but also special glasses that make out of gold. She looks beautiful he thinks this to himself.
Florida narrowed her eyes, gave him the doubt look, she slowly reached out her and shook his hand. “The name Florida Lumia. Pleasure to meet you” She then pointed at Sylveon the Intertwining Pokémon “This is my partner Sylveon” Pointed at Gogoat who right now is sleeping "That's Gogoat my ride pokemon" Then she pointed at the other 4 "The chinchilla-like creature is Cinccino, one with yellow fur is Jolteon, one with lilac fur is Espeon and one that shares physical traits with both aquatic and land animals is Vaporeon"
"Florida Lumia?” Ace said as he shook her hand, “Huh. Name’s got an odd ring to it.”
“Maybe because I’m not from here.” She retracted her hand and look at Grim, who finally got free from Sylveon. “And I’m not anyone’s henchman.”
Grim waved his hand at her carelessly and pointed at the next statue beside the Queen. Which seemed like some type of variation of Pyroar with a scar on his left eye. “Whatever. So tell me, Ace. Is that lion with a scar in the eye a famous ruler too?”
And they did this history lesson for 10 minutes, back and forth. Grim pointed at a statue and asked who it was and Ace talked about them, while Florida just listened. Normally she loved to learning about something new but each of these people seems like terrible people. One was a Pyroar with a scar that got his throne through schemes, one was a half Octillery opportunist loan with a half Gorebyss, one was a backstabbing that only got his power from a magic lamp, one who poisoned the people that are prettier than her, and the last two was pretty okay, the lord of the underworld and the Thorn Fairy that could turn into a dragon.
“Pretty cool, huh?” Ace said suddenly his smile turned to a wicked one. “Not like some weasel over here.”
“Myah?!” Grim was caught off guard.
“Pfft… Ah ha ha!” Ace pointed at them and laughed at them. “I can’t hold it back anymore! Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!”
Florida just thought ‘here it is why he's here.’ She saw this coming, still it was annoyed beyond compare. She just crossed her arms in front of her chest and glared at him, make him feel a little bit intimidate.
“Come on,” he kept laughing and laughing. “You’re the ones who turned orientation into such a fiasco, right? The girl who was summoned by the Dark Mirror who can’t use magic, and the monster that no one summoned at all. It took everything I had not to burst into laughter right in the middle of the ceremony!”
“H-hey! You don’t gotta be a jerk about it!” Grim gritted his teeth and his ears burned hotter with anger. He was basically growling just like the rest of the Pokemon.
“So in the end, neither of you got admitted, and now you’re janitors? Ah ha ha! SO lame!” Ace was still running his mouth unaware of the trouble he put himself in.
“What did you just call me?!”
“And you’re both so clueless you don’t even know who the Great seven are. Not one of them! Maybe before you try getting into the Academy again, you ought to take a second crack at kindergarten? Anyway, just thought I’d tease you a bit. And man am I glad I did. It’s been a blast! Unlike you, I actually have classes to get to, so I’ll let you get back to picking up trash. Bye!”
Florida who right now stand still didn't move a bit because she just got a flashback when she doesn't have her special glasses. All her pokemon saw that their master is having a bad flashback so all of them go to Florida.
“Myuh-uh! You ain't walkin' away from me! It's too late for that! Myaaaaah!” Grim use ember on Ace.
"Whoa!" Ace said while blocked the fire with his magic pen.
