Into the Blind, and Wot I Like about Space Stuff

I've been working on this for a while in between breaks updating As the Sun Forever Sets. Why is my idea of a break from writing games just writing a different game? I have dumb bitch disease. I wanted to talk about some of the inspirations for it.

Welcome to The Rim

Into the Blind is a sci fi game about a group of gig economy workers living contract to contract on the roiling, wild edge of space. It's about CRT screens, mechanical keyboards, junction boxes, pipes and wires. It's about the unknown, the stresses of capital, and horror - visceral and ephemeral. It's about working hard jobs in dangerous conditions for little pay, and the chance of a better life. 

You are a Freelancer - Salvager, Shipbreaker, Courier, Bodyguard, Assassin, First Responder, Negotiator, Investigator, Debt Collector. A Freelancer is any and all of these, depending on the contract. You'll take whatever you can get to make ends meet. 

Every job you do balances your need to pay the rent on your ship against your desire to remain alive. Grab what you can, get paid, and stay alive.

Let me show you my favourite space things

Ok, time for the self indulgent ramblings.

(Potential) Spoilers for: Gravity, Interstellar, Contact, Arrival, The Expanse, the Alien series, the Thing, Annihilation, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Magnetic Rose.

Physics and Feelings at 10km/s

There are a lot of sci-fi horror TTRPGS out there. Like a lot a lot. Mothership, Death in Space, the Alien RPG, You're in Space and Everything's Fucked, the list goes on and on. Not that that matters - people should make the games they wanna make and I wanted to make a scary sci-fi game with spaceships, so eh fuck it.

Something I realised while writing stuff for Into the Blind and working on the system is that the themes and feeling of a lot of the sci-fi stuff I'm into didn't revolve around a towering monster skulking around dark spaceship. Like, sure, Into the Blind will have a nasty alien somewhere, I don't need to say that I like Alien or talk about why it's good (I do, it is, and I'm going to), but there's more to write about than monsters. Space is already intrinsically stressful and horrifying:

Neil Degrasse Tyson and Chris Hadfield can shut the fuck up, Gravity has some of the scariest, tensest scenes in a movie I've ever seen in my fucking life. After watching this you could never pay me enough to go to space. The only enemy here is inertia, the only monster are the principles of physics that cause a cloud of debris to whip through orbit at 22,000 miles an hour.

Aside from the spectacle, Gravity is a film about finding the will to go on when you have nothing to live for and everything's against you. It's heavily implied that Dr Stone went to space because she's tired of existing on earth (or at least that's my read). She wants mercy and relief from the pain of her life, and watching it you want to gift it to her so badly, but the debris field crashes into her life over and over. It's a relentless, uncaring solar tide that returns like clockwork when to fuck her up any time she gets a break.

These extreme forces also generate incredible tragedy and loss. Interstellar is kind of a dumb movie but despite the memes about this scene it always gets me. You don't know what you have until it's gone, and sometimes the distance between you knowing you've lost something and it becoming lost can (thanks to black holes and weird gravity stuff) slip by you in an age that feels like an instant.

Both Gravity and Interstellar have soft, beating hearts encased behind the layers of radiation shielding, technobabble and worn metal, and when the colossal forces that make the universe turn rip it open, they're laid bare.

That's a fucking cool thing to make a game about!

Indistinguishable from Magic

I'm not a big brain science person, when it comes to wormholes, relativity, folding space time and all that, I don't really get it. I just know that it's cool as hell and opens the door to powerful character stories about finding meaning and confronting your feelings at the edge of our understanding of reality.

Contact and Arrival are two sides of the same movie to me. Both are heavily grounded in big Theory and big Science Words, both are about powerful sciencey girlbosses who've lost something dear to them (one in the future, one in the past.) Contact leans more towards the hard science approach, but both are at their best when they're balanced on the edge of the plausible and the implausible. They're both about the incredible, incomprehensible nature of the universe. They're both about people who change the world, in ways both vast impercievable to everyone else.

They're both stories of hope and benevolence, but Contact frames this through 90's optimism and the power of nations working together towards a common goal (it's so optimistic, even the villain-coded megacorporation decides to help out, which uhhhh), Arrival frames these themes through personal tragedy - Dr Banks pays a high price to save humanity from itself.

Behind the calculations and clipboards and theories, these are stories about personal discovery, love and heartache.

These are also fucking cool things to make games about!

Magnetic Rose is probably the single biggest influence on Into the Blind - there's a full adventure heavily inspired by it in the preview. It's just so good. The visual design and animation are simultaneously grounded and real yet brilliantly beautiful and surreal. It's tragic gothic horror at the dark, gritty edge of space, and it's so good at being sad. The penultimate scenes in heart of the tomb-like space station, surrounded by rank brown water and decaying metal are heartwrenching. Heintz is tormented by visions of his past and you feel it so hard. The film doesn't care to tell you how this is all happening - are his memories ghosts? holograms? hallucinations? It only cares about the why, and it's incredible.

Breathable Air Prepayment Meters

It's been ages since I watched The Expanse, so I'm not gonna dwell on it too much, but what I remember focused heavily on how capital and government care little about those they govern and sell to.

The level that our existence is monetised and used as a cudgel against us currently can surely only expand along with our expansion into the stars. You can go there right now if you have enough money to do so, and when life beyond earth becomes feasible, the companies that financed it will need someone to clean the ducts and polish the solar arrays. The amount of things that can be sold to you can only increase out in space. You think rents are high now? Wait till you see the price of a 1 bedroom apartment in orbit around Mars. Add nice breathable mix of nitrogen and oxygen to your list of monthly outgoings. You think you'll be able to repair your C02 scrubbers without voiding the warranty? Fuck no.

The Alien movies are obviously (despite what some grognards on twitter dot com will tell you) deeply about extreme capitalism. The galaxy is ruled by companies that could not care less about you, and the bottom line is all that matters. This kinda matters less and less as the films wear on, but the first 3 are all about working class people sacrificed on the altar of the interstellar dollar.

Alien 3 in particular has a lot of problems, but the edgy teen in me is still really fond of this scene. It's doing a Big Foreshadow (Do you get it? The alien is like.. the flower he's talking about right? But the flower is bad?) But it feels like an appropriate lament for prisoners on the ass end of space. Despite what the company wants you to believe, the inmates of Fury 161 don't deserve to die, aren't expendable.

We all have flowers within us waiting to grow, out from the shadow of capital.

You might've noticed mentions of a nasty guy in those last clips.

Ok fine, also Monsters

We all love a little nasty guy, I cannot resist the pull of the weird monster that does Big Themes. Like I said, there's so much TTRPG stuff focused on them for good reason And space is ripe for the nastiest of guys.

There's really nothing more to be said about The Thing, it just fucking rules. It's a movie that cares as much about what a monster can do to peoples bodies as what it can do to their minds and relationships.

What a horrible fate for Sheppard. The idea of Annihilations mutant bear is just so sinister it makes my gut drop whenever I re-watch it. Again, not much else to be said about this movie. It rips.

Homeworld: Cataclysm is a weird game. It's a survival horror.. strategy game? Set in space? Where you never see a single person?? And somehow it's voice acting and plot is incredible???

The Beast is the nickname for the microorganism that emerges from the millenia old wreckage the mining vessel Kuun-Lan happens upon whilst scouring deep space for valuable minerals. The threat it presents is so real and visceral, it's one of those "if this hits our planet, it's so over" monsters, and it's obscenely scary and gruesome. Even the Bentusi, a race of nigh-on ageless benevolent machine beings are absolutely terrified, and try to abandon the galaxy in the face of it (they fear their biological minds will be trapped in their machine bodies if they're taken over by The Beast, locked in and forced to watch what it does to the galaxy. Damn.)

The scene where you and your fleet fight the Bentusi as they try to evacuate known space to force them to help you is intense and incredible. You're fighting gods, and all you can do is crash against their incredible technology again and again like a stiff breeze, pleading for help and humanity. You shame them into taking responsibility for helping the mortals in the galaxy against this ancient threat. That's the fear inspired by The Beast.

this one just kinda leaped into my brain when I binged the show directly after watching Legacy

can you imagine inspiring someone to change sides completely and then become the leader of the very fire you sparked long after you're probably gone? Endlessly romantic.

I have no idea why, but I have a sudden urge to talk about what Dr. Alto Clef is with in my head. It's probably because of that post of resent.

I'm going to be up and front with that this is more of me just rambling than a well-thought-out. I do better if I ramble with no form or idea where it is going. Also, I don't care if you think in any way is a waste or stupid. This is my blog, and I and do and say what I want, even if it's mindless rambling about a character or whatever else. -----

Well, to be honest, He does have a special place within my mind. It's greatly personal, I Rather not talk about it much, mainly because I rather keep the bad times behind me. Just know he has helped me get though some hard times in my life, even though he's a god-damn asshole of a character, lol.

Um… how do I start these things… Well first I must be clear that I have been out of the fandom he belongs in for some years now and so, much of what I view him is when I was really into it. SCP-4231 is a big piece to how I see him. I read that when it first came out, though I probably shouldn't have read it at that time.

Ok, enough of the rambling. For me, I view him as a bitter old man that real does not want to have anything to do with anyone. Which I don't blame. I thought of him being three different people with Alto being the last and Francis being the first, though the middle of the both does not really have a name He's just dubbed with Ukulele. Francis's GOC code name. With Ukulele being switch of dealing the stress of work and well their personal life. While Alto being formed when the incident happen and being the main for Francis to heal. Which never fully happen, Francis never really came back and only few years after it simply left. While Ukulele kinda linger not much anymore either being the next to fade leaving Alto be the last one left abandoned and the feeling that he had failed in sense. More bitter than anything in his mind left with the mess Francis had left him. Hope that makes sense in a way.

Another thing with the shipping of him and Kondraki (surprised I still remember how to spell his name). I like it though, I see it more of that Kondraki to him is a person that hang with and fuck around with once in a while, nothing more than that. I just see Alto being mainly a loner for that when he feels the safest at. I also do like the idea that he has amassed a large family of cat, those are his people. Furthermore, I like to think he thinks of himself as a cat as a way to cope with what he is.

The why I think he looks is pretty much what it most views him as. A white short fat man that doesn't have the greatest look, blond hair three eye colors, you know the gist. I have added on to that over the years with having a bad tan, you know what I mean. Have some numbers of scars from his year of living. A thing I also like is that he flip-flop in having somewhat short hair to have it long enough to have it braided. To be honest, I don't think he gives a shit how he looks other that his abundance of Hawaiian shirts, he's very prideful with that. His third eye I like to imagine he can move it anywhere on his body or hide it all together, another thing to fuck with people. Oh, Yeah, a chain smoker, of course.

Even with him being a shit person, I think deep with in him, he still cares about well… Francis's kid. Alto himself doesn't consider them being his kid nor being ever married. Though still cares about them.

I might be the reason he never just says fuck it and leave, to disappear, to live a life quietly without the Foundation being up his ass all the time. Maybe there's a different reason, who knows, he will never say, maybe he doesn't know himself either.

Do really think he's an anomaly of his own kind, being that most reality bender or what ever you want to call them, usually supper nova or simply disappear. Yet he's still there, well, depending on what stories you read. He does do either which is odd, potentially it's because of the circumstance he was in when there was still Francis and how him and his partner were like how two stars act when they are close to one another. Where the larger of the two slowly eats the other. Possibly that had some cause for it other than well... The trauma that comes with such an abusive relationship.

Beyond this point, it is me rambling more about my old interest of realty benders than Alto himself. I was really into the concept of reality bender back in the day.

As a side not I do compare reality binder with stars because of their life, cycle are really remind me of stars. With the more large hotter one having quite fast and destructive ends while the smaller and slow burning one much quieter ends.

Though, I'm just going to generalize things for the sack of understanding what I'm saying. But You want to go more specific, you can learn and use the lettering system that is uses to categorize stars. For example, our star is a yellow Dwarf and the spectral type G and with that will evolve into red giants. In turn, a white dwarf to finally a black dwarf where it does not have any more materials to produce energy (light). If you know the life cycle of a reality bender, you can fit it in within those terms.

There's also how some I would think some would bend reality some much they would leave tears within the fabric of reality, maybe creating a sort of black hole like some stars that are dense enough can form when dying. With what I said about super novas being how that is their max, their own unmaking. I think of it after math becoming nebula like in how mushroom producing spores, the matter with the disrupted reality creates others like as we are made of star matter someone can have that distorted matter that might form them as a reality bender. As they are not made with the same matter as others, but the same as another's demise for filling the cycle once more. Though like Alto, not all will meet their own destruction, with some living after that mass or simply never going through it. Leaving them much more stable in some sense. Though that does not mean they can't just go back to being a risk, which leave me to the point of why they might just simply disappear as a way to avoid that fate. As they might make their own small packet with in the fabric of reality, maybe that's how universes are made if you want to think of it that why. For me in star term I think of Alto a white dwarf star as something that is stable but has no risk of being destructive though much weaker than it was once before. That really does not matter with dwarf stars they live a very long lives, as like Alto they don't simply leave they stay for a very long time out live other stars, other reality bender without much change. In my head, I think he knows this, but I don't he likes it any. I think sometime he wished he was one that lives a short life that fades very soon after it was created.

To not stop on a sad note with the concept of cluster of stars like galaxy because I've already said what where nebulas as that is left over star matter which can in turn to make new stars. With galaxies, I see it as some reality bender might want to form groups, in a sense as a hive mind of sorts. Whereas in before they find their own space outside by themselves, this with a group can establish new one that are which much larger. Where the core normally being a black hole, their equivalent being a tear in reality. Which others get drawn to going from there leaving within the tare uses it as their own space allowing others to join with most leave to original for to become as one and in turn as a hive mind. With this being the case, they will hide that opening as to prevent unwanted out. Maybe this could be a way naturally how rips are mended in a way. Galaxies don't pose a threat as they have no more interest with their own reality from once they came, but they might have interest in merging with others like them.

I hope my word salad gave you some enjoyment. I really just did this for myself as a way to finally clean out what was left for my SCP days.

I’ve been in this fandom from the very second the pilot trailer of Bad Buddy dropped at GMMTV2022. The moment i saw Pran lying on top of Pat and saying

I was obsessed. I watched from episode 1 when the episodes finally started coming out but I wasn’t hugely involved in fandom until later on

Favourite ship/s

Somewhere along my bbs journey I got converted into a huge WaiKorn fan. Something about the dynamics mix of enemies with benefits and also best friends to lovers just really hits the spot. Also make it sound good is just so good. But also I love PatPran so so much

Favourite character/s

I gotta love Pran. Me🤝Him fr. I love a good deeply repressed hopeless romantic character who’s really going through it.

Favourite episode/s

Episode 9. I loved seeing PatPran get to date openly at university, just getting the chance to BE boyfriends and care about eachother. Sure Pat got shot but their scene in the hospital was cute and we got to see Pran + the engineering gang as well as Wai and Pat getting along. Also Pat, Pran, Pa and Ink‘a dinner >>>> . Also Ink’s flirting, I can’t believe I went there! Also Korn being the best friend to Pat, sure he teases but when it really matters he’s there for his friend.

Favourite scene/s

Other than THE scene(my thoughts about it)? I love the scene at the benches in ep 9 1/4 where PatPran are comforting eachother after their relationship is revealed, the little things from the less sweet iced tea to holding hands, Pat willing to be the heartbroken one, it was nice to see them being so free with just liking and supporting eachother after pretending not too for so long. Also ep 8 3/4 with PatPran at their houses, it’s so nice to see Pran smile so widely with his cute elevator joke and the hugs and the headphones and shirt.

One thing you would change about the show if you could

More Inkpa. Gmmtv needs to open their eyes and give us the GLs we all want. (Also waikorn canon :))

Make it sound good is one of my all time favourite fics and is the reason I’m as devoted to waikorn as I am

The soulmate series actually breaks my heart into pieces I love best friends to lovers stories so so much. And I also love it when authors write both povs- you get double the amazingness!

Something about The Space Pirate and the Officer of the Law by @dimplesandfierceeyes has me by the throat idk what it is but I love it

Honestly? I don't mind it! I think there's a lot of fun parallels and intertwining themes to be found in their extant relationship, and I definitely enjoy looking at the cute fanart I've seen of them on occasion. I probably would ship it if my lesbian Scary hc wasn't so real to me! I would absolutely adore seeing them in a qpr though - I actually really like the idea of the teens all being in a qpr together. Nobody comes between Scary and her boys 😤😤😤 Nonetheless, Link and Scary have such an interesting dynamic and I feel like it's very much been a highlight over the past few episodes - I mean, Link breaking the anchor of love as an act of solidarity with Scary? Link refusing to let Scary go even as she Eldritch Blasts him? The genuine fear in Scary's voice when she thinks she might've killed Link??? It's so much, truly it is. I'm SO excited for whatever Matt and Beth have planned with their characters going forward, and while it's not my personal cup of tea romantically, I truly do love the gothcleats relationship!

HENCEDES T4T BI4BI COUPLE OF ALL TIME!!!! NON-NEGOTIABLE!!! They are truly so much if I think about them too hard I will start crying!!! Everything about them is so fucking sweet and lovely and truly. Relationship goals fr!!! They're so strange and bizarre separately and even MORE strange and bizarre together and their devotion to each other is so so so very precious to me. Like. Their story makes me so unhinged actually I am so glad they exist. Mercedes really truly takes all of Henry's oddities in stride and he does the same for her,,, their cute little nicknames for each other,,, they would lay down their lives for each other without a second thought and I love them so much for that. I want nothing but happiness for them forever and ever and ever ok (looks pointedly at the current state of s2). I am a Hencedes stan first and a person second thank you <333

Okok next: Glennry!

In case you haven't realized. *Slaps "HUGE MULTISHIPPER" sticker on my forehead* like yourself, Baba, I also contain multitudes 😌 Anyway Glennry is SO fun to rotate around in my head, personally. I think they could learn quite a bit from each other as partners - with Glenn, Henry could get a bit more in touch with his rebellious side, and Henry could help Glenn in his struggles with emotional vulnerability. Their friendship works well as is in canon, obviously (well, s1 canon since we're not entirely sure what's going on with s2 Henry yet), but the potential of them as romantic partners is so great and so fun! They should kiss. For funsies. At least to piss off Bear Ry'Oak, if anything else <3

Up next: Sparrow/Nicky (/Spark/lovesong/highjinx/whatever other fun names exist for these two)!

And if I told you Spark was my latest obsession. What then. Literally I have been losing my mind over them for the past few days (thanks Nyx and Ivy <3) and I show no signs of regaining normalcy anytime soon!!! I just think there is SO much potential for exploring a romantic relationship between the two of them - or even something like a qpr, if you wanna go the Sparoace route! Literally could not get to sleep last night because I was thinking about them so hard. Similarly to Oakworthy, both Nick and Sparrow have such deep-seated issues regarding identity - Sparrow seems to define himself by being half of a matched set and doesn't really let himself be anything other than the Sparrow part of Lark-and-Sparrow. Nicky, of course, has. Gestures at the entire latter half of s1. And I think that if anyone can understand what either of them are going through, it's each other - and maybe they can just exist together. Without labels or expectations - not Nicholas, Jodie's son, or Sparrow, the more stable twin, or Nick, Glenn's son - just being Nicky and Sparrow and maybe also being in love. I also just think the imagery of it is wonderful - druid and demon, summer and winter, life and death, plant life and fire. Real Hades-and-Persephone type shit, which I personally love to see!

And lastly, finally, Nark!

So sorry to all the Nark stans out there but Sparrow/Nick has so thoroughly taken over my brain. I do love the idea of this ship - not only the aesthetics (hehe the demonic savior and the fallen angel), but the tragedy of it all - how the love may have been there, and in another world it may have been enough, but that world isn't this one. I have read many a Nark fic and I'd be hard-pressed to find one I didn't like, but it's not my go-to ship, personally. On another note, though, I do think Nark has some hilarious comedic potential as well - especially when paired with other ships like Sparrow/Cassandra (thank you tumblr user llumimoon for that particular piece of fanart - you know the one, I'm pretty sure you still have it pinned, Baba). But yeah! Fun ship - not my personal fave, but one that's very, very neat to pick apart and analyze!

ok new concept for my "unconventional splatoon ships" agenda

nothing against the ones that everyone already knows but i like new weird things

the captain (or old agent 3, whatever you wanna call em) x marie (specifically in 2022, when splatoon 3 takes place).

now hear me out

the captain talks almost exclusively through marie. callie sometimes tells you that the captain said things, but 99% of the time it's marie. seems like the captain likes talking to her, or at least is comfortable doing so.

they've known each other for 7 years. that's a third of the captain's life and nearly a third of marie's.

in that time, marie's commanded the captain, they've been on about equal ground, and the captain has commanded marie, so the relationship between them isn't specifically based on one being the subordinate of the other.

i think one's first instinct in writing anything for this ship would be to make one or both of them demure and blushy but i don't think that works for them and that's why this is interesting

i don't think marie is really capable of doing that genuinely and i think the veneer of confidence is what makes her a really interesting character and what could make her really interesting here.

and the captain's laconicity could really defuse that part of marie's character too, given they're pretty wise when they say things, at least when we hear it through marie.

i think they're both fairly unflappable in very different ways. with marie that's a facade she puts up to look cool and aloof, with the captain it's that they're legitimately hardened by their trauma and all the fighting they've done throughout their life. and those two different kinds of unflappability colliding could be interesting, for one, and pretty cute, for another.

like, the captain managing to fluster marie with just a few words? excellent. marie acting impulsive unexpectedly, throwing the captain off guard? also excellent

i think it's got a lotta potential! and it comes with the very good ship name "mathree," which is like 90% of the reason i started considering this in the first place.

Love love LOVE this idea, and I'm living for the cruise ship theme. Especially if they go the World Tour route and have themed challenges based around whatever countries/ports they stop at during the cruise. I wonder how the four teams will be themed? Will they name themselves a la World Tour, or will they be assigned derogatory team names to follow on with tradition? Do they have assigned team leaders?

Now I'm curious as to how Julia managed to steal/swindle Geoff's RR money from him 🤔 Is she a relative of his?

Axel and Duncan being at each others' throats sounds about right. They're both not exactly personable, even if Axel mentioned trying to be "nicer" in season 2 of the reboot, so having their personalities clash is inevitable. I'm glad to hear they eventually rekindle their friendship though! Though I assume they'll still have that patented cousin rivalry 😏 (Very excited to hear who Axel is confessing to through song- that's such a cute idea! No spoilers though 🙊)

Gwen being the black sheep of her otherwise cheerful family is such a vibe, I love the contrast of it!

I wonder what Alejandro could've done to MK to necessitate his murder? Rest in peace king, you probably won't be missed 🙏😔 (/j). Julia standing up for her girlfriend is everything, especially when she's going toe-to-toe with Alejandro Burromuerto of all people.

Can't say I've ever envisioned either Ripper or Millie as a swiftie, but the thought of two polar opposites bonding over Taylor's music is too amusing for me to dispute. Do you think they'd argue over which of her albums is 'the best'?

Emma absolutely deserves some recognition! She's was done pretty dirty in s2; anything that helps her escape Chase's circle of influence is a huge boon. She's got so much potential to be a character in her own right without the baggage of her failed relationship(s).

Shawn and Axel bonding is just a given, really. Two zombie apocalypse survivalists? They're either gonna be besties or worsties, depending on how Shawn's paranoia interprets Axel's more... feral tendencies.

As for an antagonist, I think you'll need to have a pretty solid idea of what your plot is before you can decide on who's going to be your source of conflict. There's plenty of options throughout the whole cast, and on the whole each Total Drama "villain" brings a different skill-set to the table, so once you know how you want things to progress you can just use the most applicable antagonist.

OR, if you're feeling spicy, you could repurpose a completely different character as an antagonist instead! Priya and Sierra teaming up to use their extensive knowledge of the cast and the competition could be a fun idea... 👀

I'm honestly tired of seeing the whole "they're forcing Billie and Conrad together for fan service" talk.

Maybe I'm wrong but if I remember clearly there were intentional scenes in the beginning (season 5) that showed somewhat of an interest on Billie's end. Those stares didn't just start this season. This was when Conrad was just getting back into the dating scene first with Gigi's treacher (I can't remember her name). Before even Cade.

What I'm trying to say is, NO ONE was even talking abt Billie and Conrad (at least not as much if any) in a romantic way until they gave it to us. People did not just come out of thin air to pair them together. They showed us their potential and we ran with it. And then Cade came in also as a potential interest. They wanted to get fan reactions from both pairings. I mean, why would they put out polls if not. It was intentional.

They knew what they were doing from the jump. They produced two good pairings with the intention of dropping one eventually. It just so happens that Billie/Conrad was the more popular pairing and more people were sold on their chemistry. Would it also be fan service if more people had liked Cade/Conrad after they had given us that storyline? No. A storyline was already forming there and now people just happen to love it more.

At the end of the day, the writers are gonna do what they wanna do.

It's ok to not like a popular tv pairing and it's ok to root for a different one for whatever reasons. Majority of my tv ships are not popular. I actually don't mind that some people don't like the paring because Billie is Nic's best friend. I don't mind if people are complaining about the love triangle. Heck, I also hate the love triangle. Those are justifiable reasons.

But in this instance, in this particular show for this particular fictional couple, Billie/Conrad, I do not believe you can use the talk of fan service to make your case. Just say you don't like them with your chest 😏

Hi Nic, sorry to bother you and feel free to ignore this ask but I just need to rant!

Yesterday after reading Giuly Duchessa's article I was nearly hopeless but I thought, ok, it's still no official resist until they announce it. But now that they have done it's just despair. People are really celebrating that a man that has been on the team for 28years, was there when Michael won his titles for us has ended his career with the team this way.

And of course he made mistakes, but it also seems as if he asked for help before the season, didn't get any and now is taking all the blame for mistakes that potentially could have not happened if Elkann listened for once.

Mattia leaving and going as an engineer to Alpine or AM will be awful, but if he goes to RB or Merc we will be completely fucked.

And I'm just so done at people acting as if all of this is good, they really think we will be winning next year and here I am thinking we will be fighting with Alpine and McLaren again to get P3/4. I really had hopes for next year but now it's all gone.

Also, them saying we should have a new TP by the new year....is a mess. I don't like Vasseur and I don't think he will solve anything but if the only man that could say yes because he will be gone when audi arrives hasn't even accepted the role.

I can only hope that the storm that is affecting Juve and now this will make Elkann suffer and maybe use his brain for once.

Actually I felt real whiplash since being on italian Twitter meant that every 10 minutes there was a new name dropped as "the new Ferrari tp", esponentially weirder and weirder. The magical journey of reading the bombshell of Ross Brawn as the new tp 100% verified news and then after a few minutes reading his retirement letter? Name-dropping fucking Christian Horner????? I just laughed the whole day. I was SO convinced no one had any idea at all, because it was all so dumb !

But yeah, I was wrong, sadly. And I don't mind saying very clearly that I am not happy at all about any of this, that imo losing Binotto BOTH as a tp and as an engineer is an awful turn of events.

But if it can console you Anon I also think that we're still... pretty safe for next year at least? Most of the job on the car is already done, and I don't think that whoever steps in will even have the time (or the means *side-eying John Elkann*) to ruin anything.

Mostly tho I am just genuinely sad for Binotto? He's been working for Ferrari his whole career, as soon as he got out of university he got in the factory in Maranello. He was there for all of it, the glorious years and the worse ones, and he genuinely loved the team and wanted it to succeed. And without forgetting what a brilliant engineer he is. To see him now, made into a scapegoat for public appeasement is just...... demoralizing. Let's not even start about him possibly going to a top team or I'll start smashing things.

Vasseur...... sorry I just have to laugh or I'll go insane. People have been screaming and crying and raging about Ferrari flopping on strategy and they want to fix that with Vasseur. Maybe let's ask *check notes* Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen a review about how well was the team managed, why not?

Whatever. I hope the work on the car at least won't have any setbacks. We still don't know exactly who is gonna follow Binotto from the engineering team... Or who will get in his place. But the starting project was so good and they've been saving on this year's upgrades to use them for next year, since they said they already know what to fix and how...... in that case at least we'll be covered until 2026? So enough time for stabilizing the new tp? And new drivers

OK, OK, this is the last one, I promise. No salamanders in this, but hear me out...what if the doctor worked whatever reset button magic he worked on Kathryn and Tom on the babies? And then they raise them as human children? I'm not sure who suggested the names Kathryn Jr, Tom Jr and Harry, but I'm going with them because I suck at coming up with names.

Here we have Kathryn Jr, who, despite taking after her mother in looks, is a daddy's girl at heart. As a budding pilot, her favourite thing to wear is her little flight suit and she loves logging hours in Voyager's flight simulator. Much to her disappointment, she isn't old enough to go out in a real shuttle yet (Kathryn Sr is quite insistent on this point), but her father has promised her to take her out on her first ride as soon as she comes of age and train her up to become a proper pilot.

Tom Jr has lofty dreams of one day becoming Captain - whether on Voyager or a different ship if they make it home. He knows every nook and cranny of the ship and loves to speak to crew members about their jobs, even if he doesn't always understand the answers. Kathryn Sr, along with her senior crew, are giving Tom Jr a kind of unofficial training program so he can become an officer one day, then work his way into command and even take over from his mother should the need arise. If mothers had favourites, Kathryn Sr's would be Tom Jr.

Harry, much like his namesake, is kind of a nerd but isn't sure what he wants to do yet, mostly because he is literally a child. His interests include reading, logging hours in the holodecks and music, as well as hanging out with his siblings. He shows a certain flair for science and engineering, both of which are potential future career paths. Despite a current lack of direction, the Janeway-Parises love their little jack of all trades and are sure such a multi-talented person can only be an asset to the ship. There's also no reason for him to be dressed in any specific way but when I got to colouring him I realised I had a colour scheme going.

ok i’m writing this fresh off of finishing wednesday (fresh as in like half an hour ago) and BOY DO I HAVE THOUGHTS

- wednesday doesn’t blink! very cool. i noticed this almost immediately and i pointed it out to my dad (we were watching it together) and he said that he hadn’t noticed before! (he’d already seen it twice.) so that’s fun :D - i hated both of the White Boys. i don’t even remember either of their names but i despised them. they were basically the exact same person!! i could not keep them straight, they look similar and they act nearly the exact same. i am so annoyed that they both ended up playing relatively important roles at the end - dude!!!!!! eugene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love that guy he’s great. my favorite character - edin was kinda fun. i don’t think that’s her name but i can’t remember it. whoops. anyways she was also annoying but i think that was kind of the point, and her brand of annoying was way more endearing than the White Boys. she grew on me - i’m probably gonna make a separate post about this actually but wednesday is aro/ace and you can’t convince me otherwise. i rarely (never) headcanon characters to be a certain sexuality, but i feel so strongly about this!!  - now i’m gonna speculate what the popular ships for this show will be (or are). endi/wednesday is probably the most popular if i had to guess, then White Boy 1/wednesday and White Boy 2/wednesday will probably be pretty close in popularity. next up i think we’ll have wednesday/bianca. which. i haven’t written a thought about bianca yet i need to do that. after that maybe it’ll be enid/whatever his name was who she was actually dating in the show.  - okay i just checked ao3 and i was pretty close. i got the first three right and the fifth one! but apparently WB1/WB2 is the fourth most popular ship. which i didn’t even consider because why would i. they interact like a total of 3 times in the show and they both suck. why would anyone want to write more about either of them let alone both of them?? and it’s a little sad that bianca wasn’t up there in the 10 most popular (which is including friendships but i didn’t guess those) because she deserves it.  - bianca time!! she’s awesome i love her. i wish she wouldn’t do the blue eyed stare all the time but i can excuse it because she’s a fish.  - i was so sad when thing almost died. i couldn’t believe it i was in shock that they would DARE kill thing. fortunately for me i stayed strong and didn’t believe it and fortunately for them they didn’t kill him - love all of the unsubtle metaphors in this show. my favorite was probably lycanthropy as a metaphor for being queer. that one was incredibly in your face and it was fantastic - honestly a lot of the drama between wednesday and her parents seemed so forced??? like. maybe i just haven’t consumed enough addams family media (the only things i’ve seen are the two movies from the 90s and i know there’s more) but it felt like that was kind of out of nowhere? i get she’s a teenager now but idk i just never thought the addams family would have that kind of drama - fester annoyed me. we barely saw him but he just wasn’t right. (and again, maybe this is just because i haven’t seen enough other portrayals of him) - all the old women in this show had so much makeup on it was ridiculous. they’re old! let them have wrinkles please i beg you - speaking of makeup morticia’s eyeshadow wasn’t big enough and fester’s eyebags were too small and too light

i’m realizing a lot of these thoughts are negative and i promise that’s not how i feel. i loved the show i really did. it’s just i noticed i wasn’t happy with a lot of the details but i was very happy with the overall product. does that make sense? anyways, i’m excited for a potential season two at some point. i didn’t think they’d be able to get everything wrapped up in the last episode but they did! it’s a satisfactory ending (for me at least) and i would be totally fine if it didn’t get continued, but i wouldn’t object to another season either

Things that I most likely won't create, but may be considered under certain circumstance

Aged up character smut. I prefer not to age up characters simply for the sake of writing smut. Just gives me the ick. However, if there is a circumstance where a fic is set in the future for the sake of the plot and not just for the smut, I would be ok with including it.

Beastiality. For the most part, I won't write it. However, within certain fandoms, there are characters that could potentially considered 'beasts' (ex. EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG: I am comparatively new to tumblr rp and only started in late 2019, but my overall rp experience is well over 15 years or some ( I am old ok xD ). Started in pen & paper / exchanging text book with friends and moved on to german Legend of the Green Dragon servers (LoGD) over to discord and here.

BEST EXPERIENCE: Both my best and worst experiences happened during roleplaying - I met one of my exes during LoGD roleplaying as well as a good friend through tumblr / Discord rp. Sadly both didn’t last and have been also my worst experiences. But I still want to make the best of it which is why I ultimately came back!

RP PET PEEVES: Honestly, one of the worst things is being pushy and thinking RP is all I do all day long. It is not. I am doing this as a hobby and replies may take a couple days or even weeks, depending on how I feel and how fickle the muses are. I REALLY dislike feeling any kind of pushy behaviour, be it mass @ing in several replies, bombarding me with asks if I didn’t ask for them, being passive-aggressive about me being spotty etc etc. Just... honestly. Be reasonable, have some understanding and respect and we’ll get along nicely. Other than that it’s... lying. I mean, lying is a massive pet peeve / deal breaker anyway, but don’t fucking come up with some shady ass excuses for you being spotty or absent. I don’t need your medical record, or your family business laid out. Just tell me you won’t be able to follow up for a while and I am good. BONUS POINTS if you manage to be honest and let me know you want to follow up with other muses / muns and you don’t feel doing our stuff right now - it lets me focus on other stuff as well. Don’t act like we’re besties and then make up stuff for whatever reason I literally don’t mind to wait - I mind being lied to.

MUSE PREFERENCES FOR ANGST / FLUFF / SMUT: Most of my muses are up for grabs in terms of Angst and fluff, pretty much all of them for smut as well. HOWEVER - I HIGHLY lean towards mxm smut and relationships. Hetero couples tend to bore me quickly (and I know this makes me sound like a jerk but there is no point in lying about it either). If I am comfortable with the mun I am able to run a mxf ship but it’s definitely not my favorite to play. I see this stuff across media all the time and I may grow bored which has nothing to do with the mun!! It’s just a preference. (This doesn’t at ALL mean I won’t play with female muses, on the contrary! I just don’t think all f & m interactions have to be romantic and I might not be the right partner to play this stuff with) Also some muses like Fujin are aromantic and asexual. Oh and... please no pregnancy stuff. It icks me immensely. Most of my muses are not father material and tbh I can’t stand this trope, please keep it away from me.

PLOTS OR MEMES: BOTH BOTH BOTH. As someone whose energy levels fluctuate immensely I am happy if people like to do meme stuff without turning it into threads, but I also love plotting things for “better head days”!

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Also both.  Generally I tend to write more, but I sometimes enjoy some one-line crack banter or some short replies ( not a fan of artificially lengthening posts just so they are big )

BEST TIME TO WRITE: Varies. It’s more like when does my brain allow me to write. Usually the evenings, but sometimes I make use of early mornings as well.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE: Part of myself finds its way into my muses for sure. But I think more to the effect of “this is how I could be if XYZ happened to me” both in negative and positive ways. I am however strictly avoiding self-inserting too much.
