What OTPs do I just not get: BatCat. I genuinely don't see the appeal. They rarely even seem that they enjoy each other's company, let alone enough to be in a relationship. I used to Nope out of Batfam fics that would have BatCat in them, because of how much I Do Not Get It.

Popular character I hate: I don't think there are any popular ones I hate. There are plenty I dislike to the point of if they are going to be central to the story I just give it a miss. Also, a lot of the characters I can't stand are pretty universally panned (CoughGuyGardnerCough) Maybe it's more that there are versions of popular characters I can't stand? For example, The Riddler in the new Batman movie. For some reason a lot of people really loved him, and I want to spray him with a hose from a distance.

Least Shippable Character: Dick Grayson. Seriously. I get that he's the Fandom Bicycle of the DCEU, but all of his canon relationships feel soooo flat to me. And even the fanon pairings, like with Wally, I ship the other character with someone else much more strongly than with Dick (Wally with Linda, and also with Hartley.)

Has fandom ever made me enjoy a previously hated pairing: Not really, but that's just because I haven't started to enjoy a pairing I hated before. But it definitely has made me enjoy pairings I was indifferent to before! Like SuperBat. I never shipped it and thought it was actually pretty boring as a pairing before I started reading other fans' thoughts and reasons for it.

And if we extend 'fandom' to include writers who are also really nerdy about the comics they write, then I'd have to say that Mark Waid is to blame for a fair number of my ships, including SuperBat (His run with World's Finest is amazing) but especially with his whole Into Every Generation, A Flash Is Born. And Lo, There Shall Be A Green Lantern With Whom You Can Ship Him Like A Super Yacht thing he's got going on.

Or, you know. Judd Winick with the Tim And Kon Hook Up In A Supply Closet In A Hospital Post-Battle thing...

Tomorrow is writing day! I have the whole day off and no work. December is kicking my ass but good news, I just looked up and it's almost over.

Why do I get energy in the middle of the work day and never any time else? I haven't even touched my incomplete original project since November ended. (If you're interested, it's a romantasy about inheriting a house with a demon trapped in it).

That's all, I haven't done much today but I did finally get around to reading comments on AO3 - and thank you so much, by the way, to those who take the time to do so. It really means a lot to me. And even though it sometimes takes me a while to respond - only took until 11pm today - I always try to reply, because I genuinely enjoy discussing our fav characters and all the possibilities in our made-up alt worlds! >< So, tomorrow (today now I guess) there should be some level of news about Erythema Kiss, which is officially my only ongoing project (as my daydream of a train ride project, When We Were Free, has come to a close at twelve chapters).

Unless you count my weird mystery story from FF net, but I kind of don't. (Waiting was the first thing I started writing back in July with the intent to simply write something, period, and it's, er, not my finest work. There's no storyboard and I've honestly sort of stumped myself, but without it, I wouldn't have started writing Plight or Pledge or the others. I am diligently attempting to finish Waiting but its moving at a glacial and inexcusable pace, and I apologize).

And no, for the record, I am not good at naming things. My teddy bear as a child was named, 'bear'. It's a wonder I can string together a sentence, honestly.

Favorite Thing About Them: He could be just an one note joke about a prawn living out of water, but his performer Bill Barretta managed to create a very complex, energetic, fun and interesting character who has a sarcastic and witty sense of humour who also shares the dream of making people happy trough his desire to perform on stage, film and TV, enjoys things like wearing pretty dresses and performing ballet without being bothered with other people's binary view of gender, sprinkles some touches of spicy adult jokes and is proudly corny when it comes to romantic dreams.

Least Favorite Thing About Them: His portrayal in A Very Merry Muppet Christmas, where only at the very end he showed any caring for his friends in the Muppet Theater, because for most of the movie he was mainly a selfish, materialistic character who only cared about partying with shalow rich people and easily trew himself to be a lover of the main villain even tough she wasn't particularly charming or seducing.

uhm, in another world where the bulls are aware of nacht's existence and have met him a few times, but they absolutely refuse to talk or even mention his name, asta and noelle - the two newbies - would get super curious and try to investigate about the mysterious vice captain everyone seem to hold a deep grudge against, only for the bulls to pull a disney move and sing the "we don't talk about bruno nacht-o" while venting off.

ok so y’all remember how the magic parliament wanted to put the blame of the elf attacks on asta and used him as a scapegoat? let’s say that they did, and it worked, and julius couldn’t help him, so the black bulls had to step in and fight against the parliament; results? the one squad known as the black bulls will be officially disbanded, the members will be stripped off from their titles, and then they will all be exiled to the forsaken realm where they won’t be allowed to step foot neither on the common nor the noble realms.

this turned out to be the worst decision ever made in a courtroom because one month forward the one kingdom known as clover kingdom lost a third chunk of its territory as towns in the forsaken realm, filled of citizens and refugees alike, all declared their loyalty to the freshly created kingdom.

asta was apparently the leader.

short story not, after the courtroom asta had a lot of complicated feelings and said “fuck it,” he went through a self-searching, self-reflecting journey then came back with the conclusion that perhaps what he needed is to go back to basics and start working from his home, so he went to each and every town in the realm helping people and refugees from other kingdoms with the bulls tagging along; they built houses, provided food, taught kids, cleared dungeons, shared knowledge, and all that... life is better than ever, people are happier than ever, and the bulls are freer than ever.

asta was as much surprised as everyone else when people waked up one day and decided that they’ll follow him as their new leader, with hage as their capital and licht’s skull as the inspiration of what would be the kingdom’s flag.

because no one treated this new kingdom seriously at first and just made fun of “them peasants acting like they’re a big deal smh”, it was commonly referred to as the “joker kingdom”

My notes: The way homophobia was present was interesting. No wrestlers or managers cared what Clark and Bruce were actually up to behind closed doors, but heaven forbid the public find out. Also this was just an enjoyable story overall. I like how Lex Luthor felt guilty over the deaths but hated Clark forever more after he said the words aloud. I also like how Lex chose to go full ham when he was publicly lost to Clark and Bruce for the sake of the art of drama.

Fav Tropes and Why

All Loving Hero - Many people in the fandoms and IRL think someone who believes in kindness and love is “weak”. I call BS on that statement. It’s easy to believe being cruel and/or edgy is “mature” but it’s not. Willingly choosing to be good in a world where others tell you to stop is the pinnacle of strength and resilience.

Amazon Chaser - Seeing a (usually male) character be smitten with a female’s character battle prowess and/or fiery attitude is *chef’s kiss*.

Babies Ever After - What can I say? I love seeing my favorite OTPs having a child and/or children together. It makes me think back to the beginning and progress of their love.

Badass Family - The family that kicks ass together is the family that will ALWAYS worm their way into my heart.

Beware The Nice Ones - Seeing a normally nice and gentle character go APESHIT when pushed too far will never get old.

Big Brother (Big Sister) Instinct - Protective siblings for the win.

Bittersweet Ending - Sometimes you want a straight up happy ending but life doesn’t happen like that. In reality, the best you can get is half happy and half sad. It’s bittersweet for a reason.

Childhood Friend Romance - It’s just a sweet concept. Two people who have known each other all their lives, falling for each other, and then forming a romance is absolutely wonderful. Marrying your best friend and true love at the same time? PEAK ROMANCE.

Dark And Troubled Past - Hearing a person’s troubled life can better humanize them to the audience. Me included.

Feminist Fantasy - In short, this trope is about a fantasy and/or scifi story featuring a female protagonist and/or large female cast. And many of people’s favorite shows/movies fall into this category.

Handicapped Badass - I believe I was introduced to this trope when I was graced with ultimate presence of THE best earthbender of ATLA/Tlok, one of THE well-written characters in history (animated or live-action), and one my ultimate fav characters: Toph Bei Fong. She was a blind girl but she was able to use what people perceived as a weakness to be her greatest strength.

Hard Truth Aesop - Something needed in a lot of media. Sometimes the moral of a story isn’t as straightforward as meany would like it to be. It makes life more complicated and nuanced.

Interspecies Romance - I think my liking of this trope aka “Monster Boyfriend/Girlfriend/Romance” started with one of my favorite disney movies: The Beauty and The Beast (the OG one). Seeing a huge, monstrous being (who is ironically still quite good looking) having a tender and loving romance with their human lover is peak romance. Like Guillermo del Toro, I am all for monster romances.

Mama Bear - The woman who birthed you for roughly 9 months, is ready to go through all hell to protect you. Good parenting.

Papa Wolf - Similar to the Mama Bear trope, a dad going beast mode to protect his child/children is good parenting at its’ finest.

Platonic Life Partners - Despite popular belied, it IS possible for male and females friends to be and stay just like that: FRIENDS. And it’s not “lesser” than

The Reason You Suck Speech - Whether they’re the hero or villain, a rant meant to call them out on their shortcoming and how said shortcoming keep hurting the goal and/or other people is great. It makes either the hero grow or makes the villain get their final comeuppance.

Took A Level In Badass - Watching the progress of how a wimpy, unskilled character transform into a badass is freakin’ awesome. Either they become badass in skill, personality, and/or both are all equally awesome.

Watched It For the Representation - I don’t care what some pretentious, attention0-seeking jerks say...Hearing another person reveal how empowering and validating it felt seeing someone similar to them (i.e., race, sexuality, body type, etc.) is great to see.

i just love dan lewis SO much. so, so, so much. he is, by all accounts, not special. he’s poor, doesn’t have any special talents, isn’t the most important person in all of history or anything. he is literally just some guy. but you know what else he is? incredibly compassionate and always fighting for what’s good and right. i think that’s the beauty of a well-written companion — the doctor doesn’t have to have a reason to travel with them, but they just embody so much of what is important to the doctor that it just makes sense that they travel together.

literally all of dan’s finest traits were exemplified just in one episode — in eve of the daleks. he sacrificed himself for his friends, and even in the face of danger, was still cracking jokes. he is always confident and never ever gives up. he did his best to look out for yaz and the doctor, ever the dad friend. he is so tender-hearted and loving, with a good dose of humor and confidence, and it all comes together and just makes such a well-rounded, three-dimensional and lovable character. he may not always know what’s going on, but he is always supportive of his friends and always willing to pitch in. in summary:

the fact that the father’s day episode ends with nine and rose walking towards the tardis holding hands has INSANE ‘hand in unlovable hand’ energy. rose destroyed the fabric of time. the doctor threatened to leave her there. they both shouted at each other at the top of their lungs no matter who heard. and they meant it. and then, even though the entire world had disappeared around them, the doctor still wanted to find a way to bend the laws of reality to keep rose’s dad alive. even though it was impossible. even though he knew it was impossible. even though he knew there was no one left on planet earth. at the end of the day they are both so similar that they get angry at each other because it’s exactly what they would have done. hand. in. unlovable. hand. i know you because i know myself
