it was hard dating annabeth chase's ex boyfriend- er, sorry, percy jackson.
i mean, the girl made it nearly impossible to hate her. she was pretty, she was kind, she was smart, and she never spoke poorly of you. in fact, she was surprisingly supportive of your relationship with her ex, making 'good luck' comments with a teasing smile.
gods, you hated that you hated her.
you weren't even completely sure where it stemmed from. maybe a small part was from your insecurities, another part from that fact that camp was relatively small and everyone knew everything. you knew, before you even started to crush on your boyfriend, the he and annabeth had been the it couple for years. news of their break-up shook the whole camp. you couldn't help but feel like you had something to prove, following up all that.
what made it all that much harder was the fact that percy didn't see it like you did (few people saw it like you did, truly). he was so sweet with you, the perfect boyfriend, and here you were, glaring over at his perfect ex-girlfriend. the guilt ate away at your bones but you couldn't seem to look away.
"yn? you even listening to me?" percy asked with a chuckle, bumping his shoulder with yours.
"what? sorry, i got, er, distracted," you replied, ripping your eyes away from annabeth as she laughed in such a beautiful way, you were starting to understand how percy could have fallen in love with her. which left you wondering why he was even talking to you, let alone dating you.
"yeah? what's going on in that brain of yours, huh?" he asked, glancing at you with a concerned look. and you could see it, percy asking this same question to annabeth. which, in turn, had you huffing and rolling your eyes.
"nothing."
"woah. clearly, it's something. cmon, talk to me-"
"drop it, percy," you bit out, fully prepared to get up and stomp away.
"drop what? i don't even know what we're arguing about right now."
"i don't either!" was your murmured reply as you dug your head into your hands. you had flashes of thoughts of the darling daughter of athena, who problem has never not known something in her entire life.
"than why are we arguing?!" percy asked, his face all scrunched up in confusion. and it would have been cute and endearing if you could see through the rage that muddied your vision
"i dont know! im not as smart as annabeth, maybe then i could figure it out. or maybe then, we wouldn't even be arguing in the first place!" you cried, rapidly standing up and basically running from the boy, eager to hide the fact that tears were building in the corner of your eyes and the fact that you really didn't want to be fighting with him.
the rest of the day was spent holed up in your cabin. you kicked all your siblings out, telling them to scram unless they wanted to feel your wrath. they scattered pretty quickly. you buried your face in your pillows, occasionally screaming but that is simply between you and your pillow. you wanted to pull your hair out for arguing with your perfectly sweet boyfriend. you wanted to scream until you were blue in the face for even thinking mean thoughts about annabeth, who has been nothing but kind to you. but, most importantly, you weren't going to leave this cabin until a whole new generation of campers came and even then that was pushing it.
but, naturally, you're plans were disrupted by a knock against your cabin door.
"get lost!" you shouted into your pillow, refusing to get up and hoping the person got the message. evidently, they didn't as they knocked a few more times.
"leave me alone!" you called, barely lifting your face from the pillow so you could be better heard. and the knocking finally stopped. you would have smiled if you weren't in such a sour mood, promptly dropping your face back into your pillow with a sullen groan.
but then your cabin door was swinging open, percy proudly kneeling next to the lock he had picked. you jumped as the door open, fully removing your head from your pillow before locking eyes with your sweet boyfriend, who offered you a small smile and tilt of his head. you sighed, throwing yourself back into your pillows and hiding away from the boy, who chuckled softly at your actions.
you refused to look up again, but you could hear him close the door and begin to make his way towards you. the bed creaked as he sat down on the edge of it. nothing was said for a moment but you could feel percy's eyes on you and basically see his little smirk.
"wanna come out of the pillow?"
"no," came your muffled voice and percy rolled his eyes, knowing you couldn't see him.
"alright, have it your way. how about i talk and you actually listen this time?" percy offered and you hummed back, slightly worried about hat he was going to say. i mean, if i found out my girlfriend was obsessing over my ex, i'd break up with her too.
"if you're worried about annabeth, you really shouldn't be," percy started and you went to grumble about something but he cut you off, "shush. let me finish. sure, annabeth is great-"
"this is terrible, percy."
"let me finish, for gods sake! i was going to say that we broke for a reason and i got with you for a reason. yes, annabeth is a good person, but im with you. and i am so, so in love with you. you, perfectly you, yn. no annabeth, but you. not better or worse, just different," rambled percy and you couldn't help but slowly remove yourself from your pillow, bashfully looking up at the sweet son of poseidon.
"there's your pretty face," he muttered, seemingly without thinking. this had you rolling your eyes and falling against his chest, hiding your face in his camp shirt. he laughed softly, draping his arms loosely around you.
"im sorry," you whispered into the cotton fabric, more words of explanation for you actions dying on your tongue as he kissed your temple.
"me too. i should have noticed sooner," percy shrugged, tilting his head for a chance to meet your eyes. you allowed his sea green ones to lock onto yours and you knew you'd be okay. he always had that sort of easing effect on you, like sleeping with white noise on.
"no, it's alright. i've got issues, i just can't help it," you replied with a soft laugh.
"hey! ain't nothing wrong with being a little obsessed!"
"and you'd know, mr. im-gonna-stalk-your-ex."
"and then i beat him up."
"and then you beat him up, yes, how dare i leave that part out."
maybe it wasn't all that bad, seeing as percy was equally as obsessed as you were. jealous was a hideous green monster but...you and percy always thought you guys looked so good in green

EPISODE 6 (just realised no one is asking me to do this too bad) spoilers for series up ahead
ITS NOT A MUSICAL EPISODE 😭
Disney was too broke to show us the animals in the zoo truck WHYY
why am i so happy for the second seaweed brain, man the things being a pjo fan does to you
The way you could see luke’s smile drop when they say that they found the lightning thief (:) —> :/)
The way luke didn’t even let them finish he was like “CLARISSE YES CLARISSE SHE MUST BE THE ROBBER”
No one’s talking about “Chiron should arrest her” Not the mental image of chiron holding a gun saying “ANY WORD CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU IN COURT” while clarisse is pushed into a police car lollll
Old married couple im falling out of my chair plsssss if luke did something right in his life it was this
i love annabeth’s face like she knew this was coming the older brother-sister dynamic is POPPING
Disney really needed a way to show that grover liked animals and had convos with them without actually showing them lol
cue the “omg animals are so elegant” speech which served nothing at all
WHATS THE POINT OF ZEBRA TO VEGAS IF THERE AIN’T NO ZEBRA MR HOUSE OF MOUSE????
Idk but i kind of miss the trio action so far this show has only been percabeth + grover instead of percy + annabeth + grover you can tell they’re focusing more on fan service and developing percabeth than developing the more important dynamics which are the three of them having fun
oh HELLO RANDOM CAMEL WHO ISNT EVEN A ZEBRA BUT WHATEVER
“You are two seconds ahead of meeee” the simp eyes the simp eyes
The lotus casino from the outside is so COOL
LEVITATING BY DUA LIPA (some of yall still stuck in poker face era so im leaving it at that)
WISE GIRL I REPEAT WE GOT WISE GIRL (i was honestly expecting it to sound super corny on screen but walker pulled it off like he always does)
look im so mad about the fact that there’s no montage of them being silly little kids and having fun at arcade games. It hits so hard since percy has never afforded to visit fun places, annabeth has never left camp so is absolutely thriving with her architect games, grover is hunting down humans which was so funny and cool and they decided to make it more serious and plot centred
”ill take percy this way” WHY CAN’T GROVER TAKE PERCY THAT WAY HUH ANNABETH? 🤨 (girl just say you want to spend time with him)(and disney say you just wanna write more percabeth scenes)
I love the ‘if you dont know, i dont know either 😄’ mentality that percy has, he knows annabeth wants to be in charge now so he’s just feeding into the hubris
The augustus plot was so weird ngl but it was a great way to introduce the pan stuff
“Biaannncaaaaa biancaaaaaa” NICCOOOOOOO
He sounds so little and innocent and cute 🥺 im so sad now
GROVERRRRRR REMEMBERRRRRR
i gotta say, i guess that i was taken away by the people making fun of lin manuel miranda, but his acting was really really good
We got some may castellan exposition early
Percy thinking that the only thing he could do to sally was hurting her 🥹
i really hope they talk about that later on, you know we love some angst around here (especially with the dreams of the headmaster which was from the books!!! I was thinking that they’d cut it! But they didnt!! But it speaks volumes about percy that he has nightmares of headmasters)
I WANT ANNABETH FLASHBACK ANGST
annabeth pickpocketing the god of thieves will forever be her girlbossiest moment
”Im multitalented” percy: 😍💙🥰🥹 🤩(walker’s acting be that amazing is it not obvious by now that percy likes annabeth)
“Who’s grover ☺️?” “Wait, i know grover 😅!” Walker is cementing himself in the percy throne every single episode
”wow grover got really old😃”
“you lose sight of what’s important when you’re alone” “we weren’t alone 🥰” poor grover
The eons long wait to see how percy was hugging while falling the way down is finally over
The way that you can see percy’s empathy shining through his eyes as grover talked about pan>>>> (honestly tho, hug!)
the way they focused on percy’s reaction, i know this is going to be something he brings up as a reason for him to sacrifice himself for hades
Percy and annabeth looking at grover like “ ok mr. 24 DRIVE US”
Percy trying to drive a car will forever be cinema and comedy peak
The road rage this child has its so funny BEEP BEEP
annabeth: 😁 percy: 🥹 *cutely crashes car and almost kills her* PERCY IS TRULY GIVING A LOSER BOY WHO HAS NEVER HAD A GIRL LOOK AT HIM AND THATS SO PERCY OF HIM
the heartbreak in percy’s eyes alexa play the moment i knew by taylor swift
Four pearls?? *cue that one meme where that girl is calculating*
the way my smile faded when i saw annabeth hanging over the cliff TOO SOON RICK TOO SOON

"Because we weren't alone.
Annabeth and Percy didn't forget each other because they were together, but Percy is still going to remember her after Hera's curse, god what a symbolic line. This episode was really percabeth-ing huh? And old married couple working together seamlessly.

Percabeth au. Hell of a wedding huh?
It was just the two of them and the depths Tarterus.
"Annabeth.. If we make it out of this.... could we get married."Percy said spontaneously. He was out of breath.
On the one hand, Annabeth was willing to wait a few years until anything like marriage happens. But on the other hand
this was fucking Percy, her boyfriend and love of her life.
Intellectually she knew they were too young. Percy probably knew too.
But at the same time she knew it was good to have goals when you're in fucking hell.
Something to look above the horizon and March toward.
And wedding bells a blissful life away from the gods away from the pain and suffering of this wretched place. Well that's sounds about heavenly right now.
" You know what " She was exhausted" Fuck it. Yeah, let's do it
She was also heavily pissed that what Her mother did and her mother's arrogance was very indirectly responsible for the situation she was in.
There was one way to piss her off. It would be this.
"Really? "
Percy was surprised that Annabeth was actually okay with the idea. He had thrown it out more as an idea because quite frankly he didn't know if they would live but if There was a chance that was a goal they could make
"Yes Percy I would be delighted, now come here and kiss this bride." Annabeth pulled him close by his shirt.
(the two proceed to be the first two mortals who are still alive to have sex in Tartarus. It was just practice for the honeymoon)
As the couple marched their way through Tartarus facing danger after light threatening danger, their mortality slowly dripped away, leaving behind only the godhood and their bond of forging a lasting strength. Soon neither of them noticed the gold mixed in with the blood. They lost so much but they had each other.
And friends they made along the way.
—------------------------------------------------------------------
The godly pair would escape by the skin of their teeth, but they would live. Even if they no longer bleed red. They still had each other. Even if Annabeth's voice was a lot more charming to her enemies, her mind was just as sharp. Even if Percy received far more power from before he entered the pit.
They accepted one another as their equal..
And that was all that matters.

Love love love your Percabeth writing on AO3 🫶🏼 I have a request for an Annabeth POV Percabeth fic. When Annabeth first realized she was in love with Percy and fluffy/embarrassing moments shortly after that when she’s around Percy and trying to act normal
*For the record, I had way too much fun with this one lol*
This was not good.  Annabeth was in serious trouble.  It was two days after her sixteenth birthday, they were experiencing a brief lull in the war with Kronos, Percy had come back to camp for her birthday (so she’d almost forgiven him for being in Manhattan the week before that), and they were paired up for the canoe races against a handful of other campers.  As they crossed the finish line first—because of course they did, Percy was the son of Poseidon, he had a serious advantage over the other campers on the water (Annabeth told herself it was just good strategy to ask him to be her partner)—Percy pumped his fist in the air, and Annabeth laughed as they cheered.  When he turned to her with his usual troublemaker smirking grin in place, Annabeth’s heart started thumping and butterflies swirled in her stomach.  She managed a smile that she hoped looked normal as she obliged his high-five.  Once the race was over, though, she escaped as soon as she could, disappearing into her cabin on the pretense of having to look some things up on Daedalus’s laptop for the Capture the Flag game tomorrow night.  In reality, once she’d sat down cross-legged on her bed and opened her laptop, she buried her face in her hands, grateful for the empty cabin.  She’d been denying it for a while—ever since Mt. St. Helens last summer, probably.  But for some reason, in that stupid canoe in the middle of the lake, the truth had hit her hard.
She was totally in love with Percy Jackson.
Oh shit.
Not only was that a problem because he was her best friend, and because he’d been hanging out with Rachel Dare all summer, and because she couldn’t figure out if he felt the same way about her, especially since he’d never mentioned their kiss last year, but also because of the prophecy.  The one that implied that Percy maybe only had one more month to live.
So, given all of that, it really wasn’t a good time to fall in love with her best friend.
Determined to forget about her feelings for now, especially since there wasn’t really anything she could do about them anyway, Annabeth opened some files and buried herself in Daedalus’s laptop for the next couple of hours.
Just as Annabeth’s vision started to go blurry from staring at the computer screen, there was a knock at the open cabin door.  She jumped and her pulse immediately went into overdrive when she realized it was Percy standing there.
“Hey,” she said, hoping her cheeks weren’t red.  “What’s going on?”
“Are you busy?” Percy stayed in the cabin doorway.  Annabeth wasn’t surprised.  Only yesterday, Chiron had pitched an epic fit about campers with different godly parents being unsupervised in a cabin.  To be fair, it had happened right after Beckendorf and Silena had been discovered alone in the Aphrodite cabin (possibly minus a few articles of clothing).
Was she busy?  Annabeth glanced at her laptop, then shrugged.  “Not really.  What’s up?”
“Well, um,” Percy shifted nervously, shoving his hands in his pockets, then blurted out, “A few of us are going to borrow the camp SUV and take it to the nearest gas station to get snacks.”
Of all the things Annabeth had expected, or hoped, to hear him say, that hadn’t even been on her radar.  She stared at him for a moment, then asked, “Why?”
Percy shrugged, looking a little embarrassed.  “So, a few of us were playing truth or dare—”
“Again, why?”
Another shrug.  “It was Connor’s suggestion.”
Annabeth rolled her eyes.  “Of course it was.  So why steal the SUV?”
“It’s not stealing,” Percy protested.  “We’re just going to…borrow it.  Briefly.”
“Uh-huh.”  Annabeth crossed her arms, giving him her best skeptical look, although a part of her was definitely thrilled that he had made the extra effort to come and ask her to go with them.
“Anyway,” Percy said quickly, “you want to go?”
Annabeth hesitated.  “Are you sure this is a good idea?”
That damn troublemaker smirk crossed Percy’s face.  “Probably not.  You in anyway?”
This was a really bad idea.  Annabeth knew that.  With all the monster attacks this summer, the risks were high when leaving camp.  Especially for something this stupid.  But Percy was grinning at her and everything felt easy again for just a moment.  So she couldn’t resist saying, “Sure.”
***
Luckily, the twenty minute ride out to the gas station was fine.  Nothing attacked them.  The SUV was loaded with demigods, though.  It was most of the head counselors.  The Stolls were crammed into the back with Michael Yew and Chris Rodriguez.  Beckendorf was driving, so Silena had ended up with the front seat to herself.  Meanwhile, Annabeth was crammed into the middle bench seat, squeezed between Katie Gardiner and Percy, with Clarisse jammed against the window on Katie’s other side.  Annabeth wasn’t sure exactly how she had ended up in this position, but she was practically on Percy’s lap.  Every time the car went around a turn, the momentum pressed her against him, making her heart stutter when their arms pressed against each other.
There was no plan once they reached the gas station, set on a back road a ways off the Long Island Expressway.  There were no other cars there.  The clerk, a bored looking guy in his twenties, nearly dropped his phone when they all walked through the doors.
“Sup,” Beckendorf said.
“Uh, hey,” the guy said.  “Where, uh, where did you all come from?”
“Summer camp,” Silena said sweetly, smiling at him and making the guy turn bright red.  “Busy night?”
The guy seemed to realize he was staring, his gum threatening to fall out of his mouth.  “Uh, no, not really.  Only been like two other cars.”
Annabeth stifled a laugh as she followed Percy and the Stolls farther back to where the good snacks were.  However, when Connor started to put one in his pocket, she shot him a glare.  “Absolutely not.”
“What?” Connor said.  “I didn’t bring money.”
“I did,” Annabeth told him.  Her dad had given her a summer allowance when she’d flown from San Francisco to New York in June, but she hadn’t needed to use much yet, and she’d made sure to grab some cash before leaving tonight.  “We’re not robbing this guy.  Snacks are on me.”
“You’re the best,” Percy said, grabbing two different flavors of potato chips.  Annabeth tried to ignore the way her heart fluttered at his words.  Instead, she busied herself picking out sour gummy candy.
Luckily, Annabeth wasn’t the only one who had thought to bring money.  Between her, Silena, Katie, and Chris they were able to pay the guy for the snacks and top off the gas in the SUV.  Laden down with snacks, the demigods piled back into the SUV and set off back towards camp.
Unfortunately, the drive back wasn’t quite as smooth as the drive out had been.  While they were still a few miles from camp, they ran into a problem.  Literally.  A Laistrygonian giant darted out of the woods and slammed into the SUV.  Beckendorf jerked the wheel and the SUV sailed across the road and straight into the ditch.
Luckily, no one was hurt.  But as more giants roared and barreled towards the SUV, the demigods quickly piled out, drawing their weapons and charging to meet the monsters.
Annabeth found herself back to back with Percy, as they’d been many times before in a fight.  As they turned on the spot, keeping their eyes on a pair of giants slowly circling them, she said, “I told you this was a bad idea.”
“Really, right now?” Percy said.  One of the monsters tensed, preparing to spring.
“Yep.  Duck!”
Percy dropped to one knee and Annabeth swung her knife over his head, neatly slicing through the giant, which gave a horrible screech and burst into dust.  Unfortunately, Annabeth was standing so close to it that the dust blew back in her face.  She gagged, then coughed, keeping her knife up, but her eyes were watering so badly from the dust and coughing that she couldn’t see to attack.
Percy cursed, then shoved her down.  She felt the swish as Riptide sliced through the air—and cut through the second giant attacking them.
Annabeth was still down, but her cough was mostly under control.  Percy held out his hand, and she took it, letting him help her up.  She tried not to think about how warm his hand felt wrapped around hers, but she couldn’t ignore the sparks like electricity shooting up her arm.
“Thanks,” she managed.
“No problem,” Percy said.  “This is what we do, right?”
Before she could respond, there was a shriek from the direction of the other campers, so they jogged to help.  On the negative side, they’d brought almost all of the head counselors out of camp, which would have been hugely problematic if this fight had gone badly.  On the positive side, they’d brought most of the head counselors out of camp, so they had some of their best fighters available for this.  The Laistrygonians didn’t last long.
Once the monsters were defeated, and everyone was sweaty, out of breath, and annoyed, they surveyed the wrecked SUV.  The hood was crumpled, the back bumper was hanging half off, and one of the windows was cracked.
“I think Chiron’s going to know we stole it,” Percy observed.
In the end, Beckendorf got the SUV running enough to go limping back into camp.  A couple of times, some of the others had to help get out and push to keep it moving up a rise or hill (except for Connor Stoll, who complained about a sprained shoulder from the fight, although Annabeth suspected he just didn’t want to help push).
Finally, they got back to camp.  By the time they’d shoved the SUV back up Half-Blood Hill, with a lot of cursing from various campers, everyone was even more sweaty and annoyed.  However, as Silena pointed out, at least they had snacks.
“Exactly,” Beckendorf said, putting an arm around her shoulders.  “And tomorrow I’ll get Jake and Nyssa to help me with that.”  He jerked his thumb at the banged up SUV.  “We’ll get it running, maybe even better.” A glint similar to a mad scientist’s crept into his eyes.  “It could probably use a few new features in case of future monster attacks.”
Annabeth and Percy took their snacks and drinks to a picnic table on the green between the cabins.  The sun had set long ago, leaving the dark blue summer sky sprinkled with stars, wispy clouds drifting between them.  For a while they sat quietly, just eating their snacks while the camp settled down around them.  The silence didn’t feel awkward, though; it was comfortable.
Eventually, Percy exhaled and said, “Well, at least we didn’t die.”
Annabeth nodded and crunched a chip.  “I told you that was a bad idea.”
Percy rolled his eyes.  “Yeah, you said that.  Don’t worry, next time I just won’t ask.”  He said it lightly, while tilting his head back to catch a cheese puff that he tossed into his own mouth, but Annabeth still felt stung by the words.
“I don’t want that,” she said quietly.  When Percy looked at her, surprised, a second cheese puff rolling off his shoulder, she tried to recover.  “I mean, you can always ask.  And if it sounds completely ridiculous, then I’ll just say no.”
Percy studied her for a moment.  Annabeth couldn’t read his expression.  She was glad it was dark, though, just in case she was blushing.  Finally, he said, “Okay, cool.  Because it’s always more fun when you go.”
“Do you mean that?” Annabeth asked before she could stop herself.
“Yeah,” Percy said, rolling another cheese puff between his fingers.  “Of course I do.”
“Oh.  Cool.”  Hopefully the night was hiding her smile and her bright red cheeks.
They sat there a while longer, sharing snacks.  Annabeth managed to toss a cheese puff right into Percy’s mouth—and it only took about five tries.  Later, back in her cabin and putting her laptop away so she could climb into her bunk, she had to admit that, in spite of the monster attack, it had been a fun night.

UNFILTERED REACTIONS TO PJO SHOW EPISODE 5 (AKA THE PERCABETH EPISODE): yes, spoilers. No, coherence.
Love a classic Percy eavesdropping dream
“Toss it Seaweed Brain” AHHHHHHH
What everyone has been waiting for! The iris message with Luke. The last nail in the coffin that is non-reader’s predictions.
NOT THEM DEBATING WHEN EACH OF TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES THEY HAD HAPPENED IN THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS
ALSO LUKE. LUKE. “When did you turn into an old married couple?” And then turning away awkwardly
“Not to change the subject, but I’m gonna” HAHAHAHAHAHAAH
THE TORTOISE. THE TORTOISE IS KILLING ME
As someone who hasn’t read the Kane Chronicles, (or Magnus) is Dr Horusiris someone??? Horus/Osiris?? Also Mia Mouse??
Grover being like “yeah nah the animals will be safe. People?? What about them??”
Not Annabeth and Percy falling into easy and ever so slightly flirty banter. The kind of flirty banter only thirteen year olds can do
ALSO. Levitating huh? This is how you compensate not putting Poker Face Rick? What is Love was already a delight.
I’m kinda enjoying that they preemptively know what myth they’re stepping into. Doesn’t mean they won’t be affected by it but this is fun.
ALSO FIRST WISE GIRL DROP. HE SAID IT. HE SAID THE THING.
Oh heckin my boi Grover go back!
AHH LIN MANUEL MIRANDA
Why does everything he say sound like he’s gonna slip into a rap
Man one mention of Luke’s name and Hermes looks grief stricken broooo
I’m sorry did Hermes purposefully dredge up Percy’s trauma???? Is this perhaps Smelly Gabe trauma???? And tried to do the same with Annabeth???
What a butthead lil man child. He owes them a trip to Paris.
Hermes. Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Annabeth little klepto Queen
“I’m multitalented”
“Man, Grover got really old. How long have we been here?”

it was a march we made towards ruin and despair (but we held hands all the while)
Percy has spent years trying to convince himself he's in love with Annabeth. But she has been too - after all, she just asked for a divorce. And Percy accepted.
percabeth divorce fic! this has been sitting in my brain for a while but here it is! i actually wrote 93% of it today in one sitting. the other seven percent was like when i first had the idea three days ago.
anyway.
trigger warning divorce i guess???
read it on ao3!
“Percy,” Annabeth says, late at night, after the kids have gone to sleep.
Percy’s surprised. Annabeth barely talks to him these days. “Yes?”
She sighs, and takes in a deep breath. “I want a divorce.”
Percy’s surprised. But he feels strangely… relieved? “Okay. But what about Andy and Alex?”
“I don’t know. Percy, all I know is this isn’t working for us. We don’t make each other happy. We barely speak!”
Percy sighs. “You’re right.”
“I am?”
There was a time when she would say ‘of course I am’ or ‘I’m always right’. Not for the first time, Percy wondered where those times had gone.
The answer was that they had been lost somewhere between now and then, of course.
“I suppose.”
“You’re not… angry.”
“Did you expect me to be?”
Gods, this is the longest conversation they’ve had in months, maybe years. How did they ever let their relationship become like this?
"A little," Annabeth admits. "We don't really know each other anymore."
"You're right," Percy found himself saying.
"I wish I wasn't."
«»
"The war's over!" Annabeth shouts. "We can do anything!"
Percy laughs. "We can. What's first on the schedule?"
"Let's try to finish senior year with no more complications, huh?"
"You know I can't promise that, Annabeth."
"Well, we'll just have to come as close as we can."
Percy grins at Annabeth, and she grins back.
"I love you," he says.
"I love you too."
Maybe if he keeps saying it, 'I love you' will stop feeling like a lie.
But that doesn't matter, because someone remarks on them being a perfect couple and Percy's smile seems a little more forced, a little more fake. He reaches for Annabeth's hand anyways.
He loves Annabeth. He does.
(And he ignores the part of him that wants to say that's a lie; he wants to stop drowning in guilt every time he says he loves Annabeth)
«»
It's most difficult to tell Andy and Alex.
Andy, full name Agnodice Chase, named after a famous doctor who stopped the killing of educated women in Athens, is a daughter of Apollo. Percy and Annabeth adopted her after Leo had told them Apollo had a daughter whose mother was unstable, and she needed a home.
Alex, full name Alexander Chase, isn't named after anybody in particular. Percy was a little worried about bad luck, because anyone named after Alexander the Great might be destined to die young and glorious, but Grover laughed at him for that because 'names don't dictate fate' and Percy had to believe him.
Alex's a son of Demeter anyways.
It's decided that Percy will be the one to tell them. He drives to their middle school and asks about their day before breaking the news.
"Your mum and I are getting a divorce."
"A divorce?" Andy asks right away. "Why?"
Percy sighs. "I don't know if you two have noticed it, but your mum and I don't talk anymore unless it's about you two or finances or travel."
"Don't you love each other?" Alex asks.
"Not anymore, I don't think."
Percy ignores the part of him that says they never did. He also ignores the part of him that wants to protest at being so frank with his children. They deserve the truth.
"Oh," Andy says.
The drive is scarily silent the rest of the ride back.
«»
"You're one of the first people to never let me go," Annabeth concludes, smiling in her beautiful wedding dress. "I love you, Percy Jackson, and I want you to know that for the rest of our lives."
People make little awws and Percy's pretty sure Thalia, who is Annabeth's maid of honour, is crying.
But it's his turn to say his vows.
"Annabeth Chase, you've been beside me since I was twelve. No matter what happened, I knew I could rely on you. No matter where we are, no matter whatever circumstance, I know you'll be there. You're my best friend, and the love of my life. I am so happy to be marrying you."
<s>Percy ignores the guilt settling in on those lies.</s>
He keeps his eyes trained on Annabeth. This is his future. It has to be.
They love each other. They do. They have to.
«»
"What about custody?" Annabeth asks.
"Switch every week?"
Annabeth nods. "What if you're off on one of your shipwreck-finding trips?"
"We could probably figure it out. Maybe I can take them on breaks to see the wrecks, and you can see them during the school year, or..."
"Maybe I should keep them during the school year," Annnabeth suggests. "And you can see them all the time during the school year when you come back. Otherwise, breaks can be more like switch every week or something?"
"We can figure it out," Percy says.
"For the kids?"
"For the kids."
"And lodging?"
"You keep the house," Percy says. "Your architectural job needs that anyways, and if you're going to have the kids most of the time..."
Annabeth nods. "And you?'
"Maybe an apartment? Big enough that I can keep Andy and Alex if they want to stay over, but I don't want anything too big, especially if I'm not going to be there most of the time."
Annabeth nods. "What about medical care or tuition? I'm thinking on me. My job covers medical. We can split the extra medical costs along with the tuition."
Percy nods, then freezes. "How are we going to tell everybody?"
Annabeth's eyes grow wide. "Oh, no."
She takes a deep breath. "Let's plan it out. I'll tell Piper and Thalia, and Leo. After that-"
"Leo will tell Hazel and Frank, but I want to tell them first."
Annabeth nods. "And Grover?"
"I'll do it. Reyna?"
"I'll tell Reyna."
"I'll tell all my cousins, actually."
"Anyone else?"
"Rachel?"
"You do it. You're closer to her. I'll tell Clarisse and anyone else who comes up."
"And they gossip."
"Yeah, they do."
"What about Sally and Paul and Estelle?"
"Oh. Oh."
Sally loves Annabeth, Percy knows. She was so happy during the wedding. Because her son was getting married to someone who might as well have been her daughter. Not in a weird way, of course.
Percy makes a decision. "I'll tell her and Paul. I'll tell Estelle on Saturday when I call her next. Can we wait to tell everyone else after I tell them?"
Annabeth nods.
And it's the end of the conversation. It was long, longer than the other one. It's funny, Percy thinks distantly, how they're only talking because they're planning on not.
It'll be a change, but it feels like a step towards a fresh breath of air.
«»
"Love you," Annabeth says quietly.
"Love you too," Percy whispers back.
It's a lie, but it's a lie Percy's been telling for years. If he closes his eyes and doesn't think about it too much, it's almost true.
«»
Percy visits Sally a day later. Paul's out, because although Paul is great and wonderful for Sally, Gabe still hangs over like a weed, and Percy will never be quite able to tell Paul everything.
"Percy!" Sally exclaims like usual, before looking around. "Where's Annabeth and Andy and Alex?"
"About that," he says.
Sally looks at him, before clocking in his emotional state. "Come in."
Less than a minute later, Sally and Percy are sitting on their old couch, across from each other like they used to.
Percy takes a deep breath. "Annabeth and I are getting a divorce."
He looks down, expecting her to be angry. Why would she not be?
"Okay," Sally says. "And Andy and Alex?"
"They'll stay with Annabeth during the school year."
Sally nods. "You're figuring it out?"
"Yeah."
"We're not angry, you know," Sally says, reaching forward to hold Percy's hand. "If you two feel like a divorce is the healthiest action for your relationship and Alex and Andy, then we're glad you're getting one."
Percy nods. "Can I tell you something?"
"You can tell me everything."
"I don't think I ever loved Annabeth."
Sally moves forward to hug Percy. "And why's that?"
"I don't know. I just keep thinking about how I've never been comfortable saying that, and although we were great friends, we weren't good as... as romantic partners."
Sally smiles, he can hear it in her voice. "Sometimes these things are hard to tell. But I'm glad you're getting a divorce now rather than never."
Percy lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Okay."
«»
"Wow, you love each other a lot," Rachel says over the phone, upbeat and friendly.
"Yeah. We do," Percy says, swallowing back the hurt from that statement.
"I'm happy for you," Rachel says. "How's married life going?"
"Great."
Rachel looks like she's about to question that before changing her mind. "Can I tell you a story of the stupidest thing I've ever done in art class?"
Percy grins. "Can't wait to hear about your embarrassing escapades."
«»
Estelle and Percy call ever Saturday at three o'clock pm.
"Percy!" she almost yells into his ear. "What's up with you?"
"Hate to put a damper... but Annabeth and I are getting a divorce."
"Oh," she seems surprised. After all, Annabeth and Percy have been together for longer than Estelle's been alive. She's never known a Percy that doesn't come with Annabeth.
Most people don't.
"Did anything happen?" Estelle asks.
"No," Percy says. "Annabeth came to the realization that she no longer loves me, and I realized that I don't love her either. We're not... there's not anything big, Estelle."
"You just fell out of love," she surmises.
"Yeah. Don't worry, we're still communicating and you'll still get to see Alex and Andy."
"Obviously."
"But enough about me. How's university?"
«»
"Yeah, so Lester has a daughter," Leo says. "Apparently she's in the foster care system now."
Annabeth looks at him, and Percy nods.
"We can take care of her," Annabeth says. "It'll be nice to have a child."
Leo smiles. "I'll tell Lester. Her name's Agnodice, Andy for short, and, well, I'm glad that she can get a home with loving parents like you two in it. Some stability and two parents who love each other might to wonders for her."
"Yeah," Percy says listlessly. Two parents who love each other.
«»
"Annabeth and I are getting a divorce," Percy says for what seems to be the seventeenth time.
Hazel and Frank were both surprised, like really surprised, but ultimately supportive, and Hazel told him that he could always stay with her in New Rome just in case.
Nico was surprised, but he didn't seem to find it so sudden like everyone else. Maybe he can tell dying love. If they even loved each other at all.
And now Grover. He's the scariest to tell, honestly.
"Okay," he says. "I'm a little surprised, I have to say. But if that's the right decision, then it's the right decision."
Percy smiles.
"You can always count on me, okay? Plus, what kind of best friend would I be if I didn't support you through this?"
"A bad one?"
"Exactly."
«»
"Mummy! Daddy!" Andy yells.
"Yes, Andy?" Percy says.
"I want a baby brother," she says, assertive of her own ideas.
"Really," Annabeth says.
"Yes. A baby brother."
"We'll see about that."
«»
Annabeth and Percy are officially divorced a few weeks later, in the middle of summer when both Alex and Andy are at camp.
"Happy divorce," she says to him in a dry tone.
"Happy divorce," he replies, and he breaths in a fresh breath of air like no other.
«»
Three Years Later
"Percy?" a familiar voice asks. He hasn't heard it in person for a few years now.
"Annabeth."
"It's nice to see you again," Annabeth says. "Actually, I'll admit, I kind of missed you."
"Really?"
"But from before we were dating. You know, being best friends?"
Percy smiles. "Yeah. Want to give friendship another shot?"
"Yeah. By the way, I don't think I told you, but I'm a lesbian, apparently."
Percy laughs.
"Sorry?"
"No, I mean, I figured out I'm aromantic a year ago."
Annabeth stares at him for a few moments before bursting out laughing. "Comphet."
"Comphet," Percy agrees. It feels good to laugh with Annabeth again. Maybe they can resurrect their friendship after all.
"Anyway," he changes the subject, "dating anyone?"
Annabeth blushes immediately. "Yeah, this woman I met. She's mortal, but she's like Rachel."
Percy nods. "And, as I'm sure you're guessing, I'm not dating anyone."
"Wow, we really did fake-it-until-we-break-it with the romance thing, didn't we?"
"We totally did. But for one, I'm glad we're here. And, well, we got Andy and Alex out of it, so it couldn't've been that terrible."
Annabeth laughs. "You know, it's funny that all we needed to slot right back into friendship was divorcing."
"I guess so, huh?"

Writing prompts
this is unedited. here goes nothing.
In which Annabeth has a confession to make.
.
"Is it just me or is it cold as hell in here?"
Percy found himself asking her this just as the door slammed behind them. Goose bumps pebbled his skin in mere seconds. He rubbed at his arms, shivering.
“We’re in a freezer room,” Annabeth deadpanned. “Of course it’s cold as hell in here.”
They’d been trying out the being a normal-married-couple-without-the god’s-intervention thing for the last few months, now living in New York City instead of New Athens, but it never seemed to work out. Today was no exception.
Percy had high hopes about this one date, however. He’d invited Annabeth to a nice, spacious ice cream place; she’d suddenly grown an abnormal craving from ice cream, and Percy was more than happy to meet her needs. It would’ve been perfect, really. Annabeth would relax for the first time in two weeks after working non-stop at her architecture firm, and Percy would’ve taken a nice break from grading his student’s papers. A miracle, as they never found time out of their day for these types of things.
The fates had other ideas.
In mid-ice cream scoop, he’d heard the door jingle. Immediately, Annabeth grabbed his arm, dragging him toward this exact freezing room, her mind five steps ahead of him. He’d demanded what was going on, and once she hissed at him, “empousa,” he didn’t argue any further, instead letting her take him into hiding.
He’d never believed it, to be honest—him and Annabeth, hiding instead of fighting. But he was alright with this. Maybe, just maybe, they could try comfort instead of risk. Waiting instead of facing their problems full-on.
Still, he asked her, “You sure about this?”
“Shh.”
One finger flew to his lips. She pushed him against the stack of ice cream on the wall. Seconds later came the strange, trudging sound he’d come to associate with empousai. Metal and hooves.
The monster seemed to smell them, because in an instant, the footfalls stopped right next to the door. Luckily, Annabeth had locked it. He gazed at her, wide-eyed, and took out Riptide. It seemed like they’d had to fight after all.
But Annabeth shook her head frantically, even as a sound akin to a hissing laugh rtaveled into the room, accompanied by the banging of the door.
“What is it that I smell?” said a shrill voice. The empousai. “Demigods, perhaps?”
More banging and rasping ensued, and through it all, Annabeth clutched his hand, her breathing ragged.
“Babe, what’s wrong? Should we—”
“No, no, no,” she muttered. “No. No we can’t just—”
He took her face in his hands. “’Beth. Talk to me. What’s wrong? We need to fight. We’ve done, this, like, a million times.”
“I just...” She sighed, her breath shaken. But not from the cold. “I can’t.” Her voice was so small, so scared. This was rare. At least, she hadn’t had a panic attack in a long time.
“Okay,” he said, ignoring the sounds from the screeching empousai. This was just about them. He could deal with the monster later. “But why can’t you fight?”
“Because I could hurt the baby.”
“Because it would hurt—I’m sorry, what?”
Her words sent him reeling. He stood there, frozen like the ice cream around him.
She shivered. “The baby. I’m pregnant, Perce.”
“Huh?”
“I was going to tell you, but now I don’t know what to do, and we might die—”
“Nuh-uh. Don’t come with that shit. We are not gonna die. At least not today. Maybe someday.”
Annabeth’s mouth quirked up. “Definitely someday.”
“Whatever. Just...not today. Okay?”
She nodded.
It was in this moment that Percy began to properly process what she’d just said. He tilted her chin, pulled her closer.
“So. A baby, huh?”
She laughed through the tears that had already formed in her eyes. “Yeah.”
He found himself grinning like an idiot. It got to the point where his cheeks hurt, where he couldn’t remember a time when he wasn’t this happy, even with a monster yelling bloody murder on the other side of the door.
“Shut up. A mini Jackson.”
“Mmhmm.”
“With drool and farts and all of the things that make up an actual baby.”
“Yes, Percy,” she said, placing her hand on his cheek. “We’re gonna be parents.”
“I love you so much.” He closed the distance between them, meeting her in a frantic kiss. He hoped she could feel it. His love for her. His devotion to this woman.
“We made a baby,” he mumbled against her lips.
Annabeth drew back, and though her eyes where light and free, her face was serious. “Yes. We made a baby. Which is why I can’t risk it.”
“It’s okay, though.”
He kissed her one last time.
“I’m part of the team, remember? I can fight it off. You got your cap.”
She nodded again.
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
A final clang resounded, and this time, Percy uncapped Riptide.
“I’ve got this,” he said. “For the baby.”

Percabeth secret dating AU with jealous Percy really we just love jealous Percy and a secret dating AU is the perfect vessel for that
in which percy and annabeth are in a secret relationship, and Percy is just a little bit jealous,, percabeth,, this ones for u gray
Percy has always been a kind soul. It’s how he was raised, learning to be gentle and speak kind words. He cherishes the people that he loves, holds them tight because life is unpredictable, and things can turn around in a matter of seconds.
He’s especially gentle with her.
Annabeth looks so perfect today, her hair cascading down her back in the most pristine, delicate way. He may be a little biased because he’s in love with her, but he stands by the statement. She’s the perfect fit for him too – her head falls right below his chin, the perfect size for a warm hug, and her hands are small in his large ones. When they’re lying in bed at night, her back fits his chest like a puzzle piece, and he falls in love with the way she rests her head on top of him, listening to the steady thump of his heartbeat.
The only problem is that no one knows. No one knows the way that Percy loves Annabeth with every fiber of his being. No one knows that he is forever ruined for anyone else except her. No one knows the way his heart races when she kisses him, soft and sweet.
No one knows, so he can’t really blame anyone for the way he feels when someone slides into the seat next to her.
Percy doesn’t intend to think such terrible thoughts, but he can’t help it. Certainly not when the guy leans into Annabeth over the lab table, tugging on one of her curls, and all he can think is that it should be him.
The thought of someone else’s hands on her makes him feel sick to the stomach. He knows her well enough that she’ll push off any advances, but she shouldn’t have to in the first place. If he hadn’t suggested keeping this quiet – something so beautiful and delicate – then he wouldn’t be subject to this torture, watching the love of his life smile back at someone that’s not him and be forced to act like everything is right in the world.
It’s not until their professor dismisses them from the lab that she spares Percy a glance. She comes up beside him as he’s putting away a couple of beakers, and her hand slides up him back, splaying between his shoulder blades.
“Hey,” she says, her voice a whisper in his eyes, leaving shivers down his spine.
Percy steps away from her touch as he faces her. The tension in his shoulders dissipates when she steps into his arms and he wraps himself around her protectively. The rest of the room is empty, except for a kid talking to the professor in the corner of the room, so he has no inhibitions in this moment.
“You okay? You look like you’re about to murder someone,” she says lightly against his shirt.
“Do I?”
“You have the entire class,” she tells him, looking up and resting her chin against his chest.
Percy looks at her accusingly. “Were you watching me?”
“Watching you? Always.” She laughs lightly, tapping his forehead. “But you looked very sad.”
“I wanted to be your lab partner,” he whines.
Annabeth pouts. “You can be my lab partner in my heart.”
Percy swallows, looking around the room. Her lips find their way to the base of his jaw, pressing two long kisses to the stubble that lines his skin. His mind is going too fast for him to handle – all he can think about is how sick he feels. It was an entire class of watching someone else’s eyes on her, and he hates it.
“What’s wrong?”
“I just…” Percy picks at his lower lip with his teeth, desperate to dissipate the tension sizzling in his gut. “He was looking at you in a way that definitely wasn’t friendly.”
“Oh, Percy.”
“It’s stupid,” he says, gently untangling their arms. “I know.”
“It’s not stupid,” she argues. “It’s cute, actually.”
Percy chokes. “Cute? This is the opposite of cute. This is disgusting. Abhorrent. I am the definition of trash.”
“You’re jealous.”
Percy looks highly offended. “I am not jealous.”
She laughs softly. “You’re jealous, babe.”
Percy scowls, and she just kisses him lightly.
“Come on,” she says, tugging him by the arm. “Let’s go back to the dorms and I’ll show you exactly why you have no reason to be jealous.”
He obliges after a second tug on his arm, but not before squeezing her back into his grasp and peppering kisses wherever he can reach on her face and neck. They walk through the empty halls hand in hand, splitting apart whenever they hear the echo of someone else’s footsteps. Each time she slips away from him, it makes his heart tear just a little bit more, and it’s not long before the frown is a permanent fixture on his face. It deepens impossibly more when the classmate from earlier somehow manages to find her and stop her halfway across campus. And Annabeth, of course, is the most beautiful and kind person Percy’s ever met, so it’s no surprise when she stops to listen to him.
The entire conversation flows in one ear and out the other, to be completely honest. All Percy knows is that the guy’s voice is incredibly shrill and scratchy, and it makes him want to burst his own eardrums out.
It’s not until that he catches the end of a very annoying sentence that he comes tunneling back to reality.
“–if you’re free this Saturday?”
Percy’s head shoots towards the guy, his mouth open slightly. “She’s not.”
The guy blinks at Percy. “Who are you?”
Percy’s mouth opens, and he’s about to answer her boyfriend until he realizes that he can’t. As badly as he wants everyone to know that Annabeth is his, and he is hers, he isn’t willing to expose something she isn’t ready to yet. So he closes his mouth and bites his tongue when the other guy smirks subtly.
“I’m not available,” Annabeth says, kind but definitive. “I’m sorry.” “Are you sure? It’s on me.”
Percy’s fist clenches, and he only relaxes when her hand slides over his, squeezing. He doesn’t know if it’s a warning or a reassurance.
“I’m sure, but thank you.”
Percy did not preen behind her.
She slides her hand back into his when he walks away, and she looks up at him accusingly. He only smiles innocently, pecking her on the nose.
“Not jealous, huh?”
Percy rolls his eyes. They’re walking right by a brick building on campus, and there’s not many people around so he has no inhibitions when he presses her against the brick of the building. His body covers her, elbows going to either side of her shoulders so he can lean down and kiss her properly.
“Only a little bit jealous,” he admits through kisses. “But can you blame me?”
Annabeth laughs, breathless. “Not at all. I’m hardly innocent myself.”
“Who would’ve thought the great Annabeth Chase would get jealous?”
“Well, you’re hot and you’re mine,” she defends, accepting when he ducks down to kiss her one more time. This one lingers for a few more seconds, and when he does pull away, she’s with her eyes closed and breathless.
“I’m always going to be yours,” he says, and he means it. Even if she never wants to go public, he loves her so much and could never leave her. If this is what she wants for now, then he will stand by her.
“Maybe…” Annabeth opens her eyes and locks on his. She bites her lower lip, makes him ache with affection, and says, “Maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing if we told people.”
Percy blinks and the corners of his lips curve up. “Yeah?”
She surges forwards to catch his lips again. “Yeah. I love you, and I want people to know.”
Percy can hardly help when he pulls her in for a hug. Like always, she fits him perfectly. She is his second half, and she always has been.
The only thing that’s changing is that everyone’s going to know it.
The thought couldn’t make him happier.

Percy Jackson x Black OC
A/N: Percabeth is cute but they're just going to be friends in this fic. This is also inspired by Nigerian tales such as Mami Wata and Yoruba mythology, but it's also folklore from West Africa. I hope you enjoy.
***************************
Her coconut brown skin shown brightly under the sun. Her smile as dazzling and as bright as a full moon while her laugh....oh her laugh was like a song. A song you want to hear over and over again. Her dark tight curls stuck to her face as she tries to shield herself from the water being thrown on her by two girls. They look to be twins. With identical facial features, skin the color of vanilla, and locs that go down their backs adorned with gold clips that glint in the sunlight. There's not much a difference between them except that one is a bit taller than the other. They all were beautiful but not as beautiful as her. Wearing a royal blue bikini she looked almost like a goddess. The water on her skin made it so she was practically glowing. A dreamy sigh leaves Percy's lips capturing the attention of the blonde girl next to him.
"What's got you so distracted, Percy?" Annabeth questions as she ties her hair up into a messy bun." I told you that the others will be here soon. Y-are you even listening to me seaweed brain?" She huffs putting a hand on her hip when Percy doesn't answer. He just continues looking towards the water.
"What's up with him?" Thalia asks as she lays down her beach towel her black and blue one piece fitting her style perfectly.
"Beats me." Annabeth shrugs" He's been staring off into space for some time now and I don't think he's coming back any time soon." She waves a hand in front of his face and Thalia chuckles as she begins putting sunscreen on.
"Definitely not coming back any time soon."
*************************
"Move, Zu!" I cry out laughing as I fight against the girl dragging me out of the water and towards our things.
With her locs pulled back in a low ponytail Zu shakes her head." Nope! Your going to talk to him!" She commands smirking.
Whining I twist in her arms to look to back at our older sister, well she's only 3 minutes older than Zu, but she's still older." Zuri! Tell her to put me down!" I beg pouting.
Zuri let's out a pleased laugh instantly making me groan." Oh not you too!" Rolling her eyes, Zuri points a finger at me." You're talking to him. We saw the way he was looking at you and don't think we didn't notice how hard you trying not to stare back at him."
Setting me down, Zu puts her hands on her hips." Girl, stop being such a guppy. It's clear you both are attracted to each other. Now go and talk to him or else Zuri and I are going to drag you over there."
Pouting I cross my arms." I am not a guppy!" I glance back at the black haired boy biting my lip." He is handsome...and his eyes," I sigh", they're as beautiful as the sea itself...."
"So?" Zuri asks tilting her head to the side.
Taking a deep breath I look at them." I...can't do it." I then try to run back to the water but they're quick to follow me.
**************************
"She winked at you, seaweed brain! I'm pretty sure that was a sign." Thalia says exasperated as Percy shakes his head." Do you see her? She's basically a goddess! There's no way she'll talk to me." Everyone groans or either rolls their eyes at the son of Poseidon.
"She's looking over here." Nico mutters glancing at his cousin.
"If you don't go talk to her I'm going to offer her a spot in the Hunt." Thalia says firmly causing Percy's eyes to widen.
"Plus, she's showing clear signs that she's interested and she's obviously looking at you. Not making a move is something you're gonna regret." Piper says shrugging as Jason feeds her chip. "She's also running away." He adds earning a smack on the shoulder
Sighing, Percy gets up" Fine. I'm going."
***********************
"Ugh! Fine!"
Wrapping my cover up around my waist I stomp off in the direction of the boy who caught my eye. I'm not angry. I'm just being dramatic because I know my sisters are right. As I'm walking I see that the boy is walking towards me as well. He rubs his neck nervously and I can't help but smile. Getting a bit closer I feel my face heating up.
"Hi."
"Hi."
I look at him surprised for a moment before laughing. He joins in instantly making me feel at ease.
"I'm Nia."
He smiles brightly almost making me coo at the way his face lights up but I control myself.
"I'm Percy and you're really pretty." He blurts out making me laugh.
"Thanks. I think you're pretty cute too."
I smirk as his cheeks . I go to say something but there are screams from the water causing me to turn around in alarm. People run from the water mothers holding tightly to their children and couples race to safety from something I can't see.
"Whirlpool!" Someone cries out causing even more panic.
"Whirlpool?" Percy and I voice our confusion at the same time. Looking up at him I notice he's already looking at me.
"Jinx!" We call out before giggling
"Nia!"
"Percy!"
Zu and Zuri come running over to me while a group of teenagers around our age run over to Percy.
"What's going on?" Percy and I ask just as a strange noise comes from the water causing us all to look. At first there's nothing but soon a lump begins rising out of the water. The way the sun shines against it sort of makes it look like a wet stone but I get the feeling that it is not a stone.
"Is that a friend of yours Percy?" A blonde girl asks using a hand to shield her face from the sun so she can see better.
"Nope. I have no idea what that is."
"Ikaki." Percy and his friends look at me curiously.
"Ikaki? What's that?" A blonde girl asks her eyes filled with suspicion and it's clear she's analyzing me and my sisters.
"It is a creature from our homeland....but how it got here I have no idea. They usually live in rivers." Zu mutters trying to think of a possible explanation but I know we can't waste time. We have to get rid of it even if it means exposing ourselves to demigods.
Calling out to my sisters I immediately begin giving orders." Zuleika, see if you can talk to it. If you can ask, why it's here and how it got here." She nods before taking off towards the water wasting no time in diving beneath the waves.
Percy and his friends are clearly alarmed as they see her disappear." Are you sure that's a good idea? What if that thing is dangerous?" A pale boy with shades on asks his voice not showing too much emotion but I can tell he's curious.
Turning to the group I shake my head" She'll be fine. Trust me." I say before turning to Zuri." Check to make sure no one was pulled under. It's clearly either hungry or in distress." She nods before disappearing into the water.
Looking to Percy and his friends I biting my lip as I walk backwards into the water." Stay here. You won't know how to deal with this and I don't want any of you getting hurt."
As I turn to go further into the water I feel someone grab onto my arm.'' Wait! You're not going to be safe either. Let me help.'' Percy says making me smirk as I look up at him.
''You are free to follow me son of Poseidon, but stay out of our way.''
I giggle at the cute confused look that comes on his face. He looks sort of like a puppy as he tilts his head to the side.
''How did you-''
I shake my head as I pull him along with me'' Aht Aht. We don't have time for talking.''
I pull him along with me until we're waist deep in the water'' Tẹle mi ati pe iwọ yoo rii.'' I whisper as I kiss him on the cheek. Pulling away from him I then dive into the water leaving the option to follow me up to him. As I swim further I can see my sisters and I can feel the familiar tinngling in my legs which tends to come with my transformations. Clearly the ikaki has stopped it's dance of death and now seems to be getting help staying afloat by Zuri and Zuleika. Usually ikaki are water spirits that take on the form of man-eating tortoises but they live in rivers. Not oceans, so I'm certain you can understand our confusion when we saw, or more like sensed, the ikaki's presence.
''What's going on?''
''He's disoriented and doesn't know how he got here. The last thing he remembers is eating some poor fool that got too close to him.'' Zuleika says shrugging which results in a groan from the ikaki.
I laugh'' I'm sure he was good, but we have to get you back home. Which river do you live in?''
The ikaki lets out another grunt and I nod.'' Zamfara River. Got it.''
''Nia?'' A familiar voice asks shocked
Looking behind me I smile as I see Percy.'' Just one moment.''
Zuri hands me a pearl and I kiss it causing it to glow. It floats out of my hand water swirling around it until it opens into a portal revealing a river bank.
''Here you go big guy.'' Zuri and Zu help the ikaki through the portal making sure he's all the way through and safe on the other side before waving as the portal closes.
Turning back to Percy I smirk.'' I'm certain this isn't what you expected, huh?''
He nods slowly'' Uh...you have tails.''
Raising an eyebrow I look at the twins and their matching red tails. The bottom of their tales, however, are black. I then look down at my own tail which is a deep blue, and just above my fins is a gold ring.
I giggle'' Yes. We have tails Percy.''
Zu rolls her eyes'' Haven't you seen a mermaid before? I thought you were supposed to be a son of Poseidon?'' She teases making Zuri giggle.
''Knock it off you two.''
I swim closer to Percy tilting my head to the side'' We have to go. Our mother will want to know what happened.''
Percy's eyes widen and he grabs my hands.'' But how am I going to find you? What happened to the...the''
''The ikaki is safe at home.'' I laugh as I give him a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth.
''And I'll find you. Don't worry.'' I give him one more kiss on the cheek before pulling away from him.
''Bye Percy~'' The twins sing teasingly before swimming away.
Giggling I blow him a kiss before swimming after the twins not missing the small 'whoa' that comes from Percy. It only makes me ore excited for our next meeting.

A Percabeth AU where they keep their relationship secret in fear of what their parents might think. (Warning: this goes over both PJO and HoO so it's very long):
The beginning of TLT goes as it should but after Percy is claimed, Annabeth is suddenly meaner and colder.
He remembers the Poseidon/Athena rivalry but doesn't see why they have to hate each other bcuz of their parents.
But Annabeth doesnt relent.
They still go on the quest together bcuz "you are so going to fail without a daughter of Athena."
But they still argue a lot and give poor Grover a satyr migraine.
When they have that bonding moment on the truck, Percy thinks maybe they're sorta friends, but Annabeth proves that wrong later by calling him a "Seaweed Brain" bcuz he's so stupid.
Percy fires back with "Wise Girl" but Annabeth seems to take that as more of a compliment than an insult.
(He doesn't stop calling her that tho)
After Luke betrays Percy, Annabeth's the one that found him after the dryads and she drags him to the infirmary but completely denies caring about him afterwards.
By SoM, Percy is so done with this and goes over to her asking if they could be friends.
Annabeth, who actually would like to be his friend, agrees with reluctancy, saying, "We have to keep it a secret though, or who knows what our parents might do."
Percy agrees.
Grover knows they're friends now cuz of the empathy link, but doesn't say anything.
In TTC, when Annabeth falls off the cliff, he blames himself more than ever, bcuz if they hadn't been fake arguing she might not have been distracted and fallen.
Thalia blames him even more too, and he has to keep his cover and can't tell her he knows it's all his fault.
Nico asks if Annabeth is Percy's girlfriend.
He says no, but he has a funny feeling in his heart.
He goes to the attic to ask the Oracle about Annabeth.
It doesn't answer.
When he thinks Artemis is about to ask Annabeth to join the Hunters, he knows he has to tell her something, even if it meant blowing their cover.
He breathes a sigh of relief when Artemis asks Thalia, and Annabeth is waiting for him to talk with narrowed eyes as if trying to figure out what he wants to say.
He chokes. (~Like doesn't say his feelings, not actually choke lol~)
In BotL, they are totally going out on a secret unofficial movie date but ofc the fiasco with Kelli at Goode happens.
Annabeth gets really jealous when Rachel appears. (Especially since Rachel has more opportunity to go out with Percy bcuz Annabeth and Percy have to pretend to hate each other.)
Percy, ofc, does not realize why in Hades she's acting like she really hates him even though they're in private.
At camp, they're playing Capture the Flag when they stumble on an entrance to the Labyrinth.
They go down to hide from monsters and end up stuck.
It's so dark Annabeth grabs his hand to keep from being separating. (~this is canon, they were holding hands I checked~)
When they find their way back out, it appears almost an hour had gone by when they were sure they were down for a couple minutes.
The campers were searching for the two of them and are immediately suspicious when they find the two alone. Together.
But they forget about that when Clarisse comes and asks about the "hole" they fell into and Annabeth suggests they continue talking in private.
It is then that Annabeth, Percy, Grover, and Tyson go on their quest.
When Annabeth and Percy reach Mount St. Helens they are quickly found out.
Percy tells Annabeth to escape saying he has a plan. (He really doesn't)
She kisses him. (~whaaaaaaaat~)
When she leaves, Percy apparently decides to cause a volcano to erupt. (~ya he doez~)
He lands on Ogygia, while Annabeth, thinking he is dead, goes back to camp, alone.
When she returns, they ask where Percy, Grover, and Tyson are but she refuses to say anything.
They realize what happened.
They have a burning of the shroud ceremony where she doesn't say anything, sitting, her face emotionless, but her heart in turmoil as she listens to Chiron.
That's when Percy crashes the funeral.
Annabeth is outraged.
She pretends it's because "THE WHOLE QUEST IS BEING HELD UP BECAUSE OF YOU! AND WHAT WERE YOU DOING, ENJOYING A VACATION AT PARADISE ISLAND?!?!"
It's really because she was head over heels with worry and grief (while he's off with sOmE imMorTal gOdDeSs) but she can't let anyone know that.
She is certainly not happy when Rachel joins their quest.
(Percy still doesn't get it.)
Before TLO, they are playing Capture the Flag, and the two are on opposite sides. (~in The Demigod Files, the story they find Festus for the first time in~)
Annabeth and Silena capture Percy and Beckendorf and the boys suffer an utter loss. (Were the myrmekes part of the plan? They'll never know.)
Beckendorf and Silena totally know they like each other no matter how much Percy and Annabeth fake it and try to get one of them to ask each other to the Independence Day firework show.
Annabeth does end up asking Percy and they watch the fireworks secretly next to the woods so no one sees them.
They hold hands or something else just as cute idk.
In TLO, when the Battle of Manhattan starts, everyone is surprised when Annabeth let's Percy take the lead.
When she takes the blade for Percy she says it was bcuz "I didn't know it was him!"
"So you would take a blade for anyone if it wasn't Percy?"
"...yes."
But by this time everyone secretly ships Percabeth so no one questions it.
After the war, Percy gives up immortality mostly for her but only those two know it. (And maybe Grover).
Annabeth asks him to meet her in the woods and when he does, she brings him a lumpy blue-colored cake which Tyson helped make. (Bcuz of course Tyson knows that they're secretly friends but Grover told him not to tell anyone).
They kiss, duh.
But then a monster comes out from the woods and they don't want to fight it after they just had a war so they run.
They end up by the lake and Percy pulls Annabeth in to get away from the monster.
Cue best underwater kiss ever.
They date in secret for two months but Percy's mom knows.
When Percy goes missing, Annabeth freaks.
She searches for him everywhere and if anyone asks why she's searching so hard for someone she doesn't even like, she just replies, "He probably just disappeared bcuz it's his turn to do the camp chores and I will not let him slack off," or "Who else am I supposed to use for target practice???"
(None of the campers who'd been in the Titan war buy it.)
In SoN, the only thing Percy remembers is Annabeth, but for some reason, he has this instinct to not tell anyone about her so he doesn't.
In MoA she still judo flips him and acts all mad (which she is) but he still laughs it off and says all sarcastic, "Oh, did the smartass daughter of Athena miss me?"
But he missed her too.
When they go to eat lunch Annabeth and Percy excuse themselves to "go to the bathroom" but they really snuck off to have their own private reunion.
"I missed you so much, Seaweed Brain. Don't ever disappear like that again."
"I'm sorry, Wise Girl. I missed you too."
*kissing*
Later, when Annabeth and Percy sneak off to the Pegasi stables on the Argo II and sleep next to each other.
Frank finds them.
They swear they didn't do anything and threaten Frank into silence.
He can never look at them the same way again though.
When Annabeth has to get the Athena Parthenos, Percy paces the deck of the Argo but says he's not worried about a daughter of Athena.
When she finally gets the statue, he goes down to meet her but she trips and falls into the Pit.
He catches her, but now he's hanging on a ledge.
"Percy, let me go. You can't pull us both up." She whispers, knowing they're too low for the others to hear.
"We're staying together. You're not getting away from me. Never again." He whispers back.
"As long as we're together."
At least in Tartarus, they don't have to pretend they don't absolutely, utterly love each other.
In Blood of Olympus, Percy, Annabeth, and Piper are walking underground to the monster's base in the Parthenon when they see a trident mark in the ground.
Annabeth says it's the place where Poseidon struck the ground.
At this point, Percy turns to Piper and asks, "Can you keep a secret?"
Piper nods.
That's when Percy kisses Annabeth.
When he pulls away, he says, "This is where the rivalry ends….for us, at least."
Piper acts surprised but on the inside she is rAGING bcuz now Leo owes her ten bucks but she can't tell him.
After the Giant war they consider telling their friends, but they're not sure…
Idk how to end this just keep going
Sort of a bonus:
The Hephaestus and Athena cabins worked together to make everyone monster-proof phones (which also correct their dyslexia) and Annabeth and Percy use them all the time to text each other and no one knows.
Jason asks Percy to come to a cafe with some of the others, and Annabeth and Percy are texting the whole time.
Their convo goes something like this:
'hey Annabeth, me, Jason, Frank and some of the others r going to that cafe on 31st street'
'*Jason, Frank, some of the others and I' 'Really? Piper, Hazel, and I are going there too. They mentioned Jason, Frank, and Leo might be there, but not you.'
'weird, they didn't say anything about u either' 'hey wait a sec, Jason's texting on some gc called Operation Get Them Together' 'the other guys' phones r ringing everytime he sends something…'
'What? Operation Get Them Together???'
'yeah'
'....'
'what'
'Oh no.'
'what??? Annabeth????'
'They're trying to set us up.'
'wdym set us up'
'I MEAN, they're TRYING to get us TO GET TOGETHER'
'huh?'
'THEY WANT US TO GO OUT PERCY! YOU KNOW, TO BE A COUPLE???'
'ok okkk u don't have to yell'
'🤦‍♀️'
'so what do we do'
'I think we should go along with it.'
'wait hold on, Jason's asking me who im texting'
'Wait, tell him it's your girlfriend. Just to screw with them.'
'haha yes ur a genius'
'I know.'
Percy tells Jason that he is texting his girlfriend, to which Jason replies by "What?!" and frantically starts typing on the group chat to tell everyone that 'YOU GUYS PERCY SAYS HE HAS A GF ABORT MISSION ABORT MISSION!!!'
To which Piper is the first to reply, saying, 'Nah, trust me, keep going with it'
At this point, they reach the cafe, and the boys and girls meet up at a table.
Annabeth, immediately going into acting mode, says, "What is he doing here?"
Percy fires back with a scowl and says, "You didn't tell me she was going to be here. I'm leaving."
Jason stops him tho
Percy and Annabeth sit down at the table, but everyone is still standing.
Piper and Hazel say they have to go to the bathroom and leave.
Jason and Leo say they're going to go order (even tho it's a sit down with a menu and order type of cafe???)
Everyone seems to have some kind of excuse to leave until Percy and Annabeth are left alone.
The two pull out their phones again.
'Seriously? This is their plan? Say we're all going out to eat and then leave the two of us alone?'
'ig' 'what do we do now'
'I don't know.' They're probably spying on us…'
'um is that Reyna, Hazel, and Calypso in the bushes with mud and green war paint on their faces?'
Reyna, Hazel, and Calypso were indeed hiding in the bushes (with binoculars) with mud and green war paint on their faces.
'Wtf?? How'd they do that so fast???' 'And is that Leo and Piper holding newspapers with eyeholes cut through???'
'lol yea...then that eagle flying above us is prolly Frank'
'Jason is hiding in the clouds to your six.'
'where r Nico and Will?'
'I think that's them making out in the bushes.'
'lmaoo im so gonna tease them for that' 'so what do we do now Wise Girl'
'...' 'Follow my lead.'
'k'
Annabeth puts away her phone and stands up.
Percy follows her lead.
She says, "We know you guys are there, just come out. It's not going to work. And we see you too, Nico and Will."
The other demigods come out of their hiding spots (the two who had been called out looking especially sheepish).
"Why not?" Piper says, knowing perfectly well why not.
Percy looks between Annabeth and Piper, and seems to come to a decision.
"Because," he says and goes over to Annabeth and kisses her, "we're already together."
The responses were very diverse.
"What?!"
"I knew it!"
"Leo! My ten bucks. Now."
"Yeah, I walked in on them sleeping together…"
"So we did all this for nothing???"
"Wait, did you say sleeping together?"
They arguing stops as two flashes of light almost blind everyone and two gods appear.
Poseidon and Athena.
For several seconds, the two gods just stare at Percy and Annabeth (who are now holding hands just bcuz)
Then, finally, after what seemed and EXCRUCIATINGLY long time, Poseidon turns to Athena and says:
"I was right, you were wrong, I was RIGHT, you were WRONG, I WAS RIGHT, YOU WERE WRONG, YOU OWE ME FIFTY DRACHMAS BIRD BRAIN"
This was not the reaction the demigods was expecting if you couldn't tell
Athena just scowls and makes a pouch filled with drachmas appear, and throws it at Poseidon.
Poseidon catches it, bringing out what appears to be a phone and starts calling someone.
Athena goes over to Percy and Annabeth.
She looks mad, and Annabeth tries to let go of Percy's hand, panicking, trying to think of a lie, but Percy doesn't let go.
"My daughter is the smartest and best of my children, and as much as I don't approve of this, if she chose you, sea-spawn, she must have a good reason. But if you step one foot out of line, I will have you punished, understood?"
Athena addresses this to Percy, who nods fearfully.
"Good."
Suddenly there are a bunch more flashes of light as more gods appear bcuz apparently, Poseidon wanted everyone to see that he was right and Athena was wrong.
Ofc chaos ensues.
But Percy and Annabeth are still holding hands and look at each other and feel overwhelmingly happy for the first time in a long time because now they don't have to keep their relationship a secret anymore.
THE END~

Hi! I love your writing! Especially How We Could Have Met! I was wondering if you'd be interested in a medical/hospital/doctor AU?? I saw fanart of percabeth in scrubs and i'm a little obsessed lol thanks! :)
CONTINUATION OF: Part 1
After being better acquainted with the medical profession for the past couple years, you’d think that she’d be better with all this stuff.
Spoiler alert: she’s not.
And she still hates blood tests.
So needless to say, she’s already nervous when the door open to reveal a head of blonde hair, which only serves to make her more nervous. (And disappointed).
He’s new, or so she thinks. She hasn’t seen him around before, but it’s not like she knows everyone here. Either way, he’s not who she’d been hoping to see.
“Annabeth Chase?”
“Yep.”
Her leg is bouncing nervously again, but she doesn’t have the willpower to try and control it this time. (She also doesn’t have his soothing smile, so that’s probably also a factor).
“Ready for your blood test?” the nurse asks with a smile as he preps.
No.
“Yeah.”
He sits down close to her with another smile that she doesn’t return. “Good!”
And then, without any preamble, he grabs her arm and points the needle tip down. It’s all so quick that her brain struggles to keep up, but her body registers the pain. She sucks in a breath.
(So maybe she hates needles more than she’s willing to admit.)
Nurses probably aren’t required to talk you through a blood test, but she’s kinda starting to shake. The feel of the needle piecing into her skin is so vivid.
“Huh.” The nurse pulls the needle out. “I didn’t get your vein.”
“Um…” she tries to speak up but talking is starting to become a struggle all of a sudden. She wishes she had literally any other nurse but this guy.
“Don’t worry,” he seems to realize her concern. “We’ll get it this time.”
That’s not her concern.
The pain is much worse this time but his face as he pulls it out is the same. Overall, it’s probably not that bad. But her fear of needles is turning into panic and she can’t watch him try for a third time.
“I—” her words cut off as the harsh white lights turn to darkness.
-.-
“What happened?!” The words are loud enough to wake her. She still feels disoriented, but the voices are becoming clearer now.
“You can’t just go by yourself on these things yet! Where is your doctor?”
“It was just a blood test,” another voice replies, as she blinks at the florescent lighting.
“And yet you couldn’t handle it!”
“What is all this yelling?” A third voice has entered, and she finally manages to get her bearings in time to see the doctor who’s just walked in the room.
“He gave a blood test without supervision and the patient fainted!”
Oh…is that what had happened? She fainted? That was new. She turns her head to see the people in the room better.
The nurse who had so unsuccessfully tried to give her a blood test was there with his arms crossed, wearing a scowl, looking like a child.
“Is this true?” The doctor asks. “We need to talk. Out now.”
The doctor exits the room, but the nurse stays for a second and scoffs.
“Out!”
And, finally, the other person in the room comes into view, the only person she’s seen so far that makes her feel a hundred percent calmer.
“What’s your deal, man? I mean she’s cute and all, but like, chill out.”
She’s never seen him look so mad. Actually, she didn’t even know it was possible for him to look this mad.
“You disobeyed orders and hurt a patient.” His words come out slow but that just makes them all the more menacing. “And don’t talk about my girlfriend like that. Now get out of here.”
He watches the other nurse scamper, but she watches him. One day she’ll get used to just how unfairly attractive he looks in scrubs. But that combined with what he’d just pulled—
Concern replaces his anger as soon as he sees she’s up and watching him.
“Annabeth!” He’s by her side in and instant.
She wants to say it’s a side effect of the fainting (she knows it’s not), but her brain has not fully processed what had just happened.
“That was really hot,” she blurts. “Didn’t know you could be all…” She struggles with filtering her words around hot nurses more than she struggles with needles apparently.
Percy turns a shade pinker at her words as he helps her sit up. “I was just, doing my job, taking care of you, I didn’t—”
He’s flustered, which is rare since he’s usually the one keeping it together. But since he’s struggling with his words too, she makes it easy for him.
By pulling him into a kiss where no words are needed.
A/N: Thank you for sending in the prompt! Since I’d already written a How We Could Have Met featuring nurse Percy, I figured I’d extend it with some protective Percy this time! I hope you liked it! Thanks again for the prompt!

Dad was much better thinking she was dating a screw up after learning his history of education.
There was one way to piss both of them off.
And that was all that matters

Living in Lockdown with You
What’s that saying about writing indulgent fluff if you don’t have the inspiration to write? Yeah...this domestic fluff three-parter has been nagging at me since I was in extreme lockdown a month ago and wondered how Percy and Annabeth would handle a similar situation. Featuring clingy and sleepy Percabeth and working from home. Enjoy.
*** Annabeth stared at the screen blearily, trying desperately to focus on the videoconference in front of her. As a demigod, focusing was hard for her at the best of times, and this switch to everything online certainly wasn’t helping. She was all too aware of her face in the lower corner of her screen, wishing her boss hadn’t insisted they leave their cameras on for this presentation. Blinking and squaring her shoulders, she was just about to try again to tune into the discussion of a new architectural technique when a mug floated out of the corner of her vision.
She looked up to see Percy offering her the steaming mug with a sympathetic smile. She took it gratefully, cupping it in between her hands and letting the warmth revitalize her.
Thank you, she mouthed, then remembered her mic was off. “Thank you,” she repeated out loud, needing something real to ground her to this moment.
“Of course,” he nodded, and turned to give her space to focus.
“Wait,” she put the mug on the table and caught his hand, reveling in the familiar feel of his hand in hers. “Can you stay just a few minutes?”
He smiled again, that troublemaker but supportive smile that had eased its way into her heart so long ago.
“Of course,” he repeated, making himself comfortable on a nearby chair.
She expected him to start playing on his phone as she went back to focusing on the presenter, so he caught her off guard a few minutes later when he posed an insightful question about what the presenter was saying. As she answered, pulling together facts from earlier in the presentation and one of her college classes, she realized that this weird combination of stimulation, from the hot liquid warming her up inside and his hand in hers, to the presenter’s voice and Percy’s questions, was helping her focus better than she had all day. She squeezed his hand briefly in his thanks, and he gave her a warm look before asking another question.
Gods, he was so smart.
With Percy peppering occasional questions throughout, she was able to not only breeze through the rest of the lecture, but also pose several intelligent questions when it came to the follow-up meeting. Finally, the meeting concluded, everyone said goodbye, and she signed off.
She sagged back in her chair in relief. “Oh my gods, thank you. You were a lifesaver.” She hadn’t meant to steal him for the whole meeting, and she was sure he had other things he was probably supposed to be working on, but she was so grateful and he was so willing that she decided to feel appreciative rather than guilty.
He shrugged nonchalantly. “It was actually pretty interesting. I’ve listened to you rant about architecture enough over the years that at least most of the words made sense.”
Too tired to properly express her emotions of gratitude and how smart and amazing he was even if he didn’t always see himself that way, she raised his hand to her mouth and kissed it softly. “You’re amazing, thank you.”
His smile was soft and a little bashful, but all he said was, “what are you thinking for supper? I’m not sure we have enough leftovers for a full meal.”
Her brain switched gears to food, and they started brainstorming. With stretching and groaning, they rose and headed to the kitchen, ready to tackle this new challenge as a team.
***
A couple days later, she found herself going to bed at a decent hour for once (quarantine and distance work had been messing with her already messed up sleep schedule). When she crawled under the covers, however, Percy was still seated in bed, staring intently at his laptop (their apartment was really tiny--what can you do against New York apartment prices?-- and didn’t have much in the way of living space).
“Are you--” she yawned, “almost done?”
“Huh? Oh, I mean, I think so? I can move elsewhere if you want.”
She shook her head sleepily, aligning her body so she could curl around him. “It’s okay. Just dim your monitor please.”
He nodded absent-mindedly, focus already returning to his work as he complied.
She must have drifted off because she woke disoriented to find Percy still tapping away on his laptop. “Hey.” She breathed, adjusting her position to lean against him, stretching out a crick in her arm, “what time is it?”
“Hm? Oh, I guess it’s 2:30.” He blinked and muttered, “when did that happen?”
“Percy,” she was having trouble keeping her eyes open, “you should head to bed.”
“I know, I know, I’m just really close to finishing.”
“You said that several hours ago.” If she wasn’t careful, she was going to fall asleep and drool on his shirt.
He kept typing, and she wasn’t sure if he’d heard her.
“Perce? Are you actually close to a stopping point? Cause if you save it for tomorrow and get some sleep now, you’ll probably do better work.”
The computer noises stopped, and she felt him chuckle under her cheek. “Now where have I heard those words before?”
She grinned sleepily, “Not sure. I think some wise guy said it a couple times.”
“Wise guy, huh?”
She could picture the smile on his face, but merely hummed in agreement and snuggled further into his side.
“Okay, okay.” There was a pause before he said, “for real this time, I found a good stopping point, just give me a few minutes.”
“Okay,” she was drifting off again.
True to his word, she felt him shift several minutes later, and suddenly the dim light vanished. A tension she hadn’t even realized she was holding released. She only grumbled slightly as he gently slipped out from under her grasp, and sooner than she expected, he was back under the covers, drawing her into his chest.
“Love you,” she murmured. “Sleep tight.”
She felt a laugh rumble through his chest as he bent to kiss her forehead. “You too, Annabeth. Love you.”
***
Her laptop was lifted from her lap mid-sentence and a weight settled in its place. “What?” She looked down to find Percy sprawled across the bed between her legs, head pillowed in his arms on her lap.
“Sleepy,” he muttered, shifting to get comfortable.
“I wonder why,” she responded affectionately, holding her laptop in one hand and carding her fingers through his hair with the other.
“Had to-” he yawned, “finish the project.”
“And you did, so I’d say you’ve earned your rest.” His recent tiredness put her in mind of the months after he’d taken the Achilles’ Curse when he’d fall asleep anywhere and everywhere, often in this very same position.
Of course, then, she didn’t usually have a computer and a report to finish.
“Hey,” she gently tapped the computer on his head. “What am I supposed to do with this?”
“I dunno,” he mumbled. “That works.”
“This works?” She repeated, skeptically resting her laptop on his head.
“Sure.”
Deciding to play along, she tried to continue typing. “Hm, I’ve determined that your head is not a sufficiently flat surface.”
She felt him shrug against her legs. “Not for lack of trying.”
“I don’t think I’m advocating for more monsters to bash you in the head.” She moved her laptop to his back instead. “I’m fond of your skull as it is.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” she smiled, running her hand through his hair again, tracing the shape of his head. “Now stop distracting me.”
“Sure thing, babe.”
Smiling and rolling her eyes, she turned back to her report in the dyslexia-supportive program one of her siblings had designed. Percy’s back was much more stable than his head, and she couldn’t say she didn’t appreciate the company.
She finished a rough draft and saved it, deciding to look it over for errors and edits later. As she closed the report, her background came into view. It was her and Percy during their visit to Washington DC the year before. They’d planned a large group trip with Grover and the rest of the seven to support Piper’s recent appointment. A lot of them had road tripped down together, and spent hours at the Smithsonian Museums. It had been the last time all of them had been together, and now, with lockdown, the memories were even more precious. Her heart clenched, and she was immensely grateful for Percy, even if he was becoming hot and heavy.
“We should have a group call with the others soon.”
He stirred; she honestly hadn’t been sure he was still conscious. “We have one the day after tomorrow. Hazel put it in the group chat, and you already agreed.”
“Oh yeah.” With the stress of lockdown and working from home, details were a little hazy sometimes. “That’s good then. Are we calling your mom any time soon?”
“Maybe tonight? Paul’s busy with teaching online, and Mom’s been busy with her book and trying to homeschool Estelle. She said she’d let me know.”
“Cool,” she idly traced patterns on his back. “Gotta say I’m so grateful for modern technology right now.”
He snorted, “And that we can use it now.”
“Gods, yeah.” A combined effort on the part of some Hephaestus kids, Athena kids, and a remarkably tech savvy Ares kid had led to a spell/app combo that meant monsters could no longer trace demigods through their technology. Annabeth had to admit that a smartphone had been a lifesaver a number of times, both in college and in monster fighting.
“So, what do you want to do for this rest of the day? Especially now that you got that project out of the way?”
“Sleep.”
She tugged at his hair, “you can sleep later, c’mon.”
“You can sleep with me,” he suggested, and she caught his mischievous look.
“I’m not tired,” she stuck out her tongue. “Do you wanna watch something? We’re nearly caught up on, uh, that one show.”
He named it. “That one?”
Snapping her fingers, she nodded decisively as if she’d had the name all the time. He just gave her that teasing smile. “Yeah, that one. Wanna watch that?”
With an overly dramatic sigh, he crawled off her. “Sure.” He kissed her cheek as he settled into her side. “Popcorn?”
“Why not?” She smiled at him, “but you have to salt it.”
“I think I can agree with that,” he grinned at her and pulled her laptop to him so he could pull up the show.
She plodded to the kitchen (well, kitchenette), and returned a few minutes later with only slightly burnt popcorn and a salt shaker for Percy to wield. As she curled up beside him, and the familiar title song played, Annabeth felt the deep-seated contentment that no matter what crazy things were happening in the world right now, no matter how helpless and scared she felt, at least she had her something permanent with Percy.

Okay so these days I literally have two braincells: one for pjo and one for mlb (with half sometimes for atla)
but then one day the two braincells collided and I haven’t stopped thinking about a percy jackson miraculous AU since HNGGG
I’m sure I’m not the first to have thought about this but I have a Need and this is 100% self indulgent I am so sorry
I’m still figuring out some parts about it but this is what I got so far:
Pretty expected and self explanatory but yeah Annabeth is Ladybug and Percy is Chat Noir
I guess they protect New York now tho??? But yeah i mean they go to the same school and all that of course
Just like in the show, Chat Noir loves Ladybug and Annabeth loves Percy but they are idiots and dance around each other
But also I swear at the very least Annabeth figures it out eventually because she has a little more braincells than the two idiots
Annabeth’s crush isn’t like Marinette’s though where she fumbles and is a Mess, it’s more like she’s extra mean to Percy for some reason and he doesn’t understand why
Yes I’m basically saying Tsundere Annabeth but it’s lowkey canon in the pjo books anyway so it’s absolutely perfect
Also Percy being as oblivious as Adrien is so correct I’m absolutely d e c e a s e d
Chat Noir is essentially the same, maybe a lot more sarcastic than flirty because it’s Percy but yeah he’s got it pretty bad for Ladybug but what’s new
You can’t tell me the Percabeth dynamic doesn’t have LadyNoir energy you CANT
As for civilian life I kinda mixed them up?
Annabeth has the overbearing family that have way too high expectations of her
Her dad is a well known historian and has to keep up a certain image in the academe so he expects flawless grades, proper behavior, etc.
Her stepmom is just downright nasty i guess???
But she gets the whole “designer” thing of Mari but this time yeah architect (wow im so big brain)
Percy has the whole loving warm family with Sally and (stepdad) Paul
They own a bookstore/cafe hybrid where his mom bakes the treats AND sells her books (wow sally really out here being legendary huh)
And to parallel Adrien he can be a beloved, famous athlete (aka swimmer because duh) I guess??? I mean 5 million people already have crushes on him in the books so really what’s the difference HAHA
As for the besties Grover is definitely Percy’s “Nino” i mean cMO N and idk but I’m feeling Piper as Alya
It’s also totally not because Grover would be fantastic as Carapace (because PROTECTOR) and Piper is a perfect Rena Rouge WHAT DO U MEAN SHHH
Ooooo and as for the drama and a n g s t?
Annabeth has run away a couple of times and it was then she met Luke and Thalia who kept her safe and helped her eventually go back home each time
But then one day something happens with Thalia (surprise surprise)
Annabeth and Luke are heartbroken of course but something inside of Luke just snaps
...i think y’all already know where I’m going with this HAHAHA
So yeah Luke becomes Hawkmoth and all that and honestly him manipulating literal children is already canon anyway SO
I’m super obsessed with this okay i might actually even write smth MAYBE IDK
And since there are a lot of Miraculous and all that it’s kinda perfect for the Seven and Nico and Reyna but I have to sort them all out first so uh YEAH
