SM Rookies: old pics

SM Rookies launching site is no more, but the official twitter account is still alive.

There is a blog on tumblr dedicated to SM Rookies, so you can scroll the archives. As of right now, the first page is this one.

You can also find hundreds of old pictures easily on Pinterest.

SM always advertised younger artists with the help of the older artists. In a few years it becomes reversed, and older artists benefit from the success of younger idols. For example, artists like Kangta can't gather huge concerts on their own, but can participate in SM Towns. Artists like BoA be a part of a super group with younger gens. And oftentimes the friendships, hyung-dongsaeng relationships are genuine. We now can witness neos becoming sunbaes themselves. Like neos with Riize or with NCT Wish members.

2. Advertisement of the artists through give-away small gifts. Here: candies with Rookie face stickers. Securing first fans with personally distributing food is also an old tradition in SM.

3. I don't understand the manner of official introduction. Members like Donghyuk and Taeil already participated in SM Rookies activities in 2013 way before being announced publicly. For example, all Rookies wrote messages for fans for SMTown Week exhibition in 131221.

14. This video shows well that Taeyong was ready before other neos. Maybe it was his face, maybe his determination to please and meet expectations. Look at the facial expressions of neos, only Tae looked like not a complete rookie, he had the stage presence. It's not a surprise SM chose him as the centre of the future group.
