Revamping my altar - Part 02 (result)

Hiya again, short of three weeks later,

So as I said in the previous post, I was in the process of remaking my altar. I finally received everything I needed and wanted to share the result :)

I decided the simply keep the statues white and add gold accents to switch things up a little. Repainted Artemis. Didn't touch Hekate because I still have this project to clay-model something special for Her (will have to wait till I have more free time towards the end of the month, hopefully...). Demeter I kept colorful, just because I'm still in love with it.

All new statues are 3D printed, which is not my fav material (I prefer plaster), it's pretty light, BUT I really liked the design and couldn't find them in plaster at a not exorbitant price. The Hermes one in particular is one of my favorite bust of Him.

I went with the allegory of sculpture of Klimt for my central artwork. First because I love this piece, and also because it has this mix of antiquity and modernity which I try to aim for in my practice. I managed to find a wood-printed one on redbubble so it's awesome because i was able to just put it there without damaging the walls.

I also organized my mess of incense collection in a box to avoid having dust everywhere.

I even found these amazing little candle receptacles (tbh i thing these are meant for tablewear) that look kinda antique, and they were pretty reasonably priced.

Also pretty happy I managed to find faux-pomegranate branches because it adds height a little colorful touch that goes well with everything else (plus the rich symbolism of pomegranate obviously).

Overall, I'm super happy with the result, I think it matches the way I feel pretty well. It will probably continue to evolve in the future since I like the idea of the altar being and live and changing thing.

now as a blueprint i'm going to go through a little thought process of reader & rhaenyra

i went down the route of reader keeping majority to Valyrian lore

and i think in this case Rhaenyra would be more of an obsessing yandere

lets say that reader is a descendant of Valyrian blood, perhaps her family escaped The Doom because they foresaw it, perhaps later aligning with Aegon I as he conquered Westeros so long as he kept their family a secret and so he ensured both their safety and their stay under his rule

however things sour after he has passed and they flee

they become a mere rumour and legend which King Viserys ends up telling to his children with fervent delight, dreaming of the day they might return

Rhaenyra drinks this up not only because it is intriguing but also because the beautiful artwork he shows to her look magnificent, fire encircling them and blood locking their promises

she will have pretended as a little girl to be one of these sorcerers, twirling with her mother in patterns befitting ceremonies and copying their olden styles

however as she gets older she pretends to forget the mysterious sorcerers and instead focuses on maintaining her title as heir, demanding the same respect she is sure her ancestors' dear allies must have

and yet one night, when she is tending to her courtly duties, she hears the most humorous little rumour

that there is a witch among the grounds, they whisper

and then it is brought up at a council meeting and her blood heats, a gasp drawing from her mouth in match with the Queen's

they both share a glance, recalling the games they had played as children before the pattering of feet

they expect to see a fearful lamb pleading for sanctuary but instead they find you

beautiful, regal you

Rhaenyra thinks you look more a Queen than either of them and she stands in respect, shocking the court

the men around you gape but you simply smirk in approval "Your grace," You greet, only holding contact with her as you curtsy only so slightly

Alicent coughs and stands also, determined to maintain composure

you explain that you have been orphaned and bring forth the written promise of Aegon I to care for your little family

Alicent clears her throat and gives a pointed stare but it takes all of Rhaenyra's self control to settle herself back in her chair but everyone at the table share wary glances

excitement shoots through her in powered waves

however she is disappointed to learn that her father too has requested your presence and her family have decided upon a collective dinner so that they may all meet the curious sorceress

Viserys is instantly engaging conversation with you the moment you sit down and before that, greets you in a warm embrace

he is a curious man who knows you too must carry the stories of your ancestors and he is eager to learn

for most of the evening Rhaenyra watches in curiosity, watching how your hair sways and your angelic features resemble her most ardent dreams

she has to restrain herself, grip tightening on her fork

it's that night that she makes her intentions clear to you and she's relieved to see your acceptance

Rhaenyra Targaryen is not one to hide her emotions nor her desires

i think Laenor would also attempt to keep you close with his wife

i think i could picture Rhaenyra tricking you into a traditional Valyrian wedding or at least attempting to without explaining the possible repercussions of this

she's impulsive and devoted to you, nothing is out of her sphere of protection

It's almost sad that when I tell my regulars I only make $14.50 an hour at a job where I do professional level graphic design and print work, they all get shocked and say I should be making more (I work at a locally owned print shop, and I love the job for the most part, I just hate how I'm rushed and hate certain clients).

WcDonads employees make more than I do. Gas station employees around here make more than I do. And I honestly feel quite jipped because I was told to go to college. Get a degree. Find a job in the field I go to school for and I'll be set (I'm one of those "zillenials," too young to be a millenial but too old to be gen z). Some people say i should be thankful, $14.50 is a lot, but cost of living where I'm at is at least $20/hr. Granted, my college is completely paid for so I don't have student loans to worry about and I'm happy I have graphic design and photography experience. But when I'm at work and I feel the bald patch from where my hair has been falling out from stress from workload, it makes me feel like I was tricked.

I'm so conflicted. Like I said. I like this job. When things aren't busy it's wonderful. But those are becoming fewer and farther between where stuff has completely reopened from Covid and more people want printing for events and sales.

And I've met wonderful people! And learned about small businesses in my community I would have never known about otherwise! I love getting to make nice designs and print beautiful art every day. One of my current friends I've met copying her artwork for her! My gifts to my family have been photo prints and even signs for my dad's workshop that I've gotten printed at a discount and they're all loved so much. And I don't have to wear a uniform - jeans and a t-shirt of my choice every day!

But I've also been yelled at over small shit like maps not being printed on time, or how the color on a flyer isn't as "vibrant as it is on screen," or told to hurry up on a yard sign that someone decided they needed today rather than next week, or have a someone chew me out because I haven't even had time to print three sheets of mailing labels because I've had to hold the hand of a very picky woman who wants her rental guest book to look "just right" yet can't be assed to learn how to use a computer on her own. I've had packages thrown at me when I've said people need to pay to ship them. People getting mad over $.20 black and white copies and $.49 color copies. People saying they're going to get their business cards from PistaVrint because it's cheaper. People come to us and act like we're tech support - "Why is my computer not opening Wicrosoft Mord?! Why is my email not sending?! Why is my phone doing this?!" Like I don't know! Take it to Bye Best!

My manager hardly gets paid any more than I do and she's been with the business for almost 30 years and drives an hour each day to come to work. I only got bumped to $14.50 after my boss overheard I was interviewing at a college print shop that would have paid me $18 an hour. He couldn't even wage match! And I didn't even get the job.

I don't have funds to move to another location where I could find a better paying job in my field, nor would I want to as my family and community are here.

There is a pillow factory here I never knew about. They're hiring various positions starting at $19 an hour. Evenings and weekends mostly off, only needed to work if they need to fill a very large order. My friend started there this week and while she says she's physically tired, the environment seems nice so far and I'm so burnt out here that I've already asked her if she can get a word in for me to start there. More pay? And way less customer interaction? I could do that! But it sucks that I feel like abandoning what I like to do because of my pay grade and the stress I feel. I wish it was all different.

This, as I just learned earlier this month, is a massive multi-fandom exchange on the theme of hurt/comfort. It's open to both artists and writers, and the expecations is a fic of at least 1000 words, or a piece of artwork that is not on lined paper and is at minimum clean linework that is at least 500x500 pixels. And you have from 16 March to 13 May to work on your gift so like, thousands of time. So easy. You can do that in a weekend, right? So achievable.

Some details: this is a massive multifandom exchange, so like, NSFW is allowed, and that means you have to be 18 to sign up. Also as it's a massive multifandom exchange, the mods are not policing what shows up in the tag set (there are literally 620 fandoms listed, can you imagine policing that, no,) so you almost definitely will see stuff in the tag set that makes you go "huh," but that's when you get to go "boy people sure like some stuff", and then you move on and go on to the stuff you're actually writing.

Tag Set?

Glad you asked. Okay so big Ao3 exchanges normally work off a Tag Set. They run a preliminary section where people can submit relationships and characters etc to a massive list, and then once it comes to actual sign-up time, you are only able to select stuff that is in the tag set for your offers and requests. So nomination period (where we're in right now), is important if you want to join an exchange, cause it lets you make sure that the relationships you actually want to offer, and then write/draw, are available to you.

Okay so, a general exchange works by allowing people to Offer and Request what fandoms and characters they want to write, and then the algorithm matches people's Offers to Requests, so that that person who Requested TMNT art is matched with someone who Offered that yes, they want to draw the turtles.

Within this specific exchange, they go a bit more granular. You both specify the relationship, and because this is a Hurt/Comfort exchange, you specify who exactly is getting hurt.

I was tagged by @say-lene (who is absolutely one of the best writers in this fandom) to discuss a few pieces of fic that best exemplify my writing/style/personality. So here are my thoughts! :D

4 - At Knifepoint [Astarion/Gale, 2.4k, E]

Astarion's face was cruel and angular in the half-light of the darkened library, stark shadows cast across his features, lips curled into a teasing smile. The Dispel Magic spell rushed over him faster than he could answer it, dark and sour like a sickening wave, and the invisibility curled away from his body like the burnt edge of a newspaper.

I love to play with the contrast between what the rational brain wants and what the stupid horny subby brain wants and this fic absolutely goes in on that. We like a little fearplay and horror and Gale's guilty lust for being eaten. It was for an exchange to go with this incredible artwork!

3 - that urge often miscalled 'free will' [Gortash/Gale, 4.3k, E]

Gale thinks, for an odd second, that he can feel the flow of data pour into his throat and spread through his limbs, an anesthetic tingling in his veins, drowsy and even. He knows it’s nothing of the sort. That was the sort of foolish thing one might have pictured as a child, but data is weightless and instant and empty, and no zeroes and ones fill his veins. Enver watches from his chair, glancing between Gale and the computer while he makes his cryptic little adjustments. He has a leg tucked under him, a thick-soled work boot wedged under the opposite thigh.  Gale feels the fingers of his right hand flex and pull involuntarily, and the hand balls up into a fist that makes his nails bite into his palm for a good second before releasing. “Sorry, I’m not sure–” Gale starts, before looking over at Gortash, who has the hint of a smile curling onto his lips. Enver responds wordlessly, typing something blunt and fast and watching as the fingers of Gale’s other hand flex in turn, one by one. “A bit of manual testing for that faster transmission of reflexes I suggested,” Enver says. “Pardon me for the lack of warning.” Gale feels the swell of fear like an ignoble tightness in his throat that makes it irresponsible to swallow.

Am I bold enough to put a fic I just posted last night in my "best of"? Yes. It was this or Incentives for Compliance and this one exemplifies my issues even more. :) i love writing about the horror of losing control of your own mind and body and this fic is Very Clearly About That. oh and it also has that relentlessly horny pussy description that's important:

He slots in the vulva, running a thumb over the plump hairy outer lips, just ghosting over the inner folds peeking through in soft ripples, across the mons fat and rounded above; a beautiful match to Gale’s form.

2 - oh, rotten little thing [Astarion/Gale, 1.9k, M]

“So you admit it,” Astarion said, pulling his hand back. “Naughty thing. I bet so little power wouldn't be nearly enough to sate it. Perhaps I’m just an appetizer, then. Something to whet its appetite before you hunt down a wizard for your main course." "If you’re so certain it’s developed its own sort of vampirism, I would think you’d be more careful," Gale warned. "And I'm certainly not willing to consume the Weave of a person the way I would an object– if such a thing is even possible." "Oh, I think you would," Astarion answered gleefully. “If it’s you or another? If the alternative is the bomb in your chest leveling the entirety of Baldur’s Gate?”

This is probably my favorite bloodweave fic I've written because it gets to something I enjoy a lot about their personalities-- the way an unhealthy Astarion might take pleasure in luring Gale to be "worse", to dragging Gale down to his own level, and the way Gale has his pride but also a certain practicality and is more willing than he'd like to admit to bend his ethical principles a bit. There's also some great banter in this one which I really enjoy.

Gale was not naïve enough to believe his ambitions stopped at becoming Archduke of Baldur's Gate.  He'd be kept neck-deep in vile projects while Enver’s influence swallowed up each little town along the Chionthar. He had no doubt the Black Hand had designs on the rest of the Sword Coast. He'd set his sights on Waterdeep, and perhaps Gale was just another piece of his claim, another spoil of war, a pretty souvenir from the City of Splendors.

this fic is essentially designed to contain most of my favorite topics, tropes, and kinks, from the relatively ordinary (power imbalance, transmasc dom, manipulation, the tension between what you want and what you wish you wanted) to the weirder and more specific (feeding + weight gain as domestication, guilty masturbation over things you are morally opposed to, classism, politics, questions of guilt and responsibility/Whose Fault Is This Really?, transhumanism and evil biotech).

as for throwing in Highharvestide... I would be remiss not to include at least one overtly feedist fic when it's definitely the kink I'm most "known" for (and the one I know some of you are following me for. 😉) I was truly torn between featuring this and catalyst, but I think this one better exemplifies what I am really here for... feeding as a power game, fattening as domestication, how appealing Gale's new softness might be to a partner...

for that reason i have taken a lot of joy in writing Tephra Year + its side story/ies. I think my enthusiasm comes through and makes the piece even better than my usual work :)

Citrus' Art Summary 2023!

The year is almost over, so here's my art summary for 2023! I got this template from here. This is my third year in a row being able to populate every month with a finished(/digital) piece (and really, I did a LOT more than what's shown here!), so that feels like something to celebrate!

Technically some of these choices don’t match up with their post dates; I counted some months as “when I was primarily working on them” and some as “when I actually published them,” but the sentiment remains. Like I said, it was a busy year! :)

I remember last year I was quite worried about/was actually teetering on the edge of artistic burnout. There were definitely some months during this year that I felt a bit overwhelmed (particularly during the summer, when I was working on a 5-illustration series in a style that was DEFINITELY outside my norm, PLUS a bunch of other stuff), but I also appreciated the stylistic variety, and doing a lot of sketchbook drawings/marginalia that were(/are) just for me, so they never had to be "finished” or even "good." Even though almost everything pictured here is Digimon(/anime) art, I did experiment with a more "realistic" style for the Dracula Daily series (Aug/Sept), as well as trying to relearn the "Disney" style I started drawing in waaaaaaay back in high school, only now with a LOT more understanding of facial structure and anatomy. Largely, this style shake-up has been incredibly freeing (these are still sketchbook-only studies at this point, but I'm planning on some digital illustrations in the Disney style in 2024). I'm sure they still look pretty anime-influenced, and I'm not sure I'll ever truly be able to escape that, but honestly I don't mind; the anime aesthetic IS a part of my preference/style!

Let's see, the prevailing fandoms for what's shown here are Digimon Survive and Adventure 02. I really want to draw more Survive art next year!! Really happy with the collabo between @vidramon and myself (July), and honestly most (if not all) of these pieces. I worked hard, I branched out, I took on some really ambitious projects, and finished a ton of things (looking at you, March! That Knight drawing was a WIP for an entire year, but I finished it instead of abandoning it, which is what usually happens when things sit around that long!). Ultimately, I believe I told (and helped tell!) some great stories through my creative projects and art this year, which is my true goal forever and always.

Honestly I'm happiest with April's drawing. That one was a ton of fun to do, but I would have to work really hard to replicate that coloring style because I don't remember my brushes/settings, ahaha. Sadly this is how it usually goes with coloring for me; I make it up as I go almost every single time, which is why series are so difficult for me. I am nothing if not inconsistent -_-;

I would be remiss to mention that a huge part of my productivity this year was due to setting and tracking monthly goals for myself. I gotta thank everyone on the @campdigimonth server for their help in keeping me organized and motivated throughout the year! I plan on continuing my creative check-in posts in 2024.

Next year, I want to a) make more Survive art (particularly with Survive Week coming up), b) draw some more flippin' gargoyles (CRIIIINGE, but no, cringe is dead, I'mma do what I want!), and c) keep working on my personal project! And I am, once again, thinking about bookbinding. That's a "maybe" for next year as well!

Oh darling, you see when you shared the artworks stacked it's very clear it wasn't traced because the lines don't line up. The match ain't mathing. And oh wow you work in publishing. Rah rah rah for you I guess. You too need to get over the ego and stop trying to act like you know everything. Real artists do this shit all the time. Do you know how many books I have read that's the same fucking plot but different names and towns? 🙄 You clearly don't know how much of this actually happens then do ya? Pick up a book, visit a museum, you'll see. Don't wanna do that? Turn on a TV the same shit happens in movies and TV. Same with music. Hmmm it's like you really aren't as smart as you thing. Go touch some grass.

Oh my sweet sweet love, what a shame you don't have eyes trained enough to see the problem 🥰See every lines are the same. Changing the slightest one of the part of the pose won't change the fact that the rest is traced. 😁... would I even dare to say BADLY traced because the changes makes it a bit bad anatomically speaking.

You know that people doing bad things... doesn't mean it's right and should be done 🙃 Crazy right?? And truly I know how much it happens because I work hands in hands with the legal team from where I work, which has taken done quite a lot of counterfeits of our books 🥰 But truly I don't know what I'm talking about as a publisher. Yeah... I work as a graphic designer but I'm also in charge of publishing and working on making said books, and everything that happens after... Oh what a surprise 🤭 But please try and educate me on authors right and intellectual property 😊 Sorry can't hear you over my very much inflated ego that has me not be able to go through doors without announcing my name in a song. Because truly pointing out that it is wrong and that in my field you could get in trouble makes me so egoistical. And it will actually shock you soooo much... but I'm not against tracing as a form of... TRAINING! ✨I even quite actually encourage to reference artist you like and admire and trace over complex objects to understand them better! Look here is the moodboard I always use because those are artists that inspire me a lot. It is something I always have up on my desktop whenever I work because it helps me remind me what I like about their art and the way they approach things. This is referencing. Which is one of the best thing you can do to grow as an artist. Understanding and taking notes on why you are drawn to someone's art will help you apply some of the techniques and elements to your own things and make them your own by applying your own touch and sensibility. (if you're interested I can give you all the names of the artists of course 😊)

And here is me tracing over a screenshot of the movie Last Days by Gus Van Sant (2005) to train my anatomy skills. (yes the dude is peeing don't mind it, he had very defined scapulas which were very interesting)

See the difference yet? I'm actually using my brain to learn from things. I don't trace mindlessly. I see where the bones and muscles should be from points on the skin, mark them, and from there build where the muscle probably are because I learned where they begin/end how they move and why 😘 Also I'm very rusty and know that it isn't that good (which is why I'm training) so do mind me... oh yeah right I forgot you're not even able to tell apart something traced and inspired, nevermind then. I also did that with real live modeling if you're wondering, so not always tracing 😘 Also these are things that I keep PRIVATE and DON'T POST. And even less PROFIT OF. And if I were to want to post this kinds of things online (which I would definitely not because I don' trace over the art per said personally and will prefer to take notes), I would first go ask the artist to get their permission and if they said yes (and only if they said yes) I would then credit them correctly. And never pass it as my own creation. I really thought a good part of the internet saw the hbomberguy video and took notes that plagiarism really isn't good... guess not then. Also I touch plenty of grass daily thanks to my gardening thanks for worrying ❤️✨ I'm trying to plant basil again this year, hope it won't die like last time 🌱

So with Clementine Book Two coming out in October, I decided to do another reread of Book One. Though, I'll be honest, the bigger reason for this reread was out of spite; I follow Tillie Walden on instagram, and while I don't go on there often, I usually check her page when I do so I can see any new artwork or Clementine updates. Her latest post is from one of her other graphic novels, and I guess I just... don't get it.

I don't understand why people are like this:

This is on a post that has nothing to do with the Clementine comics. As for ones that are about Clementine-

Those are just a handful from a few Clementine-related posts, but there's so much of this all over Tillie's posts and I don't understand.

What does this accomplish? Other than making you look like an asshole? Like... no one is impressed by this. No one is applauding you for repeatedly commenting "lol we didn't want a forced gay romance ew," which by the way? Repeating that in every single paragraph you comment? Tell me you're homophobic without saying you're homophobic, y'know?

There are legit criticisms to be had of Clementine Book One- The pacing is all over the place where it starts very slow and then goes into whiplash mode after Amos dies. Georgia as a villain is a weak point in the story. Clementine naming her leg after Kenny is a bit icky considering in canon, he physically and verbally abused a disabled person with a brace on his leg in S2. I don't think there was much thought behind that decision past "Hey, the fans like Kenny," and I think that's worth pointing out as "Hey... maybe don't?"

Some of the dialogue is a bit stilted, but some of it is actually pretty good. My personal favorite is when Clementine and Amos are fixing a roof-

Amos: Lord, this roof is... Clementine: ...fucked? Amos: SHH, don't say that! It's... troubled.

I'm sorry- that's funny! And it actually says a lot about who these characters are and the kind of friendship they have.

And yeah, Ricca is just okay. She's clearly the love interest, and I'm hoping we get more development of her character. And yes, the "baby" thing is still weird.

There's a lot about the art style that I'm not crazy about, specifically Clementine's face and expressions, and I hope to see an improvement in that for Book Two.

And then the obvious: Clementine leaving because she was unhappy and felt everyone thought she was a liability doesn't match up with the end of TFS.

I don't think it's mean to say that Tillie wasn't the best fit for this project, but that's on Skybound. They're the ones who reached out to her and hired her. I think Tillie's a great artist and her graphic novels have great queer, wlw representation in them. Just because she wasn't the perfect fit for Clementine that doesn't mean she's bad, it means that maybe she should've been considered for a different project.

And honestly...? Y'all, Book One isn't THAT bad. It's not great or anything, but the comics can't take the games away from you. If you want to say canon ends with the TFS, then that's where it ends. That's where it ends for me; these comics are more of a "what if" scenario than anything.

No one is forcing you to accept this as canon, and if you're so pathetically butt hurt over the existence of a comic that you feel like you have to go on Tillie's instagram, the artist who is only doing the job she's obligated to do, and comment shit like this on every. single. post-

Maybe, just maybe, you need to go outside. I'm serious.

This isn't the only comment about grooming on Tillie's posts, or that I've seen on reddit. Like... do you understand what grooming actually is and how serious it is? Or are you just using it as a buzzword that you know is bad and triggering as a means of insult and convincing others that she's bad, too?

Also, I don't think you really understand how creativity and writing work. Maybe it's just me, though I doubt it, but when I create characters or write already established characters in my fanfiction, they all have a piece of me that's apart of them. My life experiences and who I am as a person influences everything I write, and that bleeds into the characters, for better or worse.

What, you think Louis having a random pillow collecting problem was something I just pulled out of my ass? No, it's because I have a pillow collecting problem! Do you know why I've always had a such a hard time writing for Violet? It's because I see a lot of myself in her and that scares me and I'd rather just not unpack all of that, okay?

I mean, how many times on this hellsite have you come across someone saying, "lol my otp is just Person A is my type and Person B is the one I project onto" and it has thousands of notes because, on some level, we all get it.

Tillie has talked about Ricca before and like most creative people, she's drawn from her own life to create her characters. Ricca isn't some self-insert character just because they both wear glasses, I'm-

You are just being an asshole! I just- I'm getting pissed off because this shouldn't even be a thing. WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS? WHO HURT ALL OF YOU?

I love Clementine, too! She's important to me! I have replayed TWDG more times than I can count! I was pissed about the comics in the beginning! You can go back on my blog and I probably said stupid shit, too!

But Clementine isn't real. She's a fictional video game character. She isn't going to reward your bullying or white-knighting because she doesn't exist. You're not doing this because you're a "true fan" that loves Clementine. Honestly, if you were a true fan, you would know that if Clementine was real, she would find you and this behavior disgusting. Tillie Walden is a real person and I don't give a flying fuck if you hate her work. By all means, hate the comic! Criticize the comic and Skybound for continuing the series, but leave Tillie out of it.

And I think the part that sucks the most is it doesn't matter what I say, you can't rationalize with irrational people intent on being assholes so they're not going to stop.

I guess what I'm trying to show with all of this is when Book Two comes out, and y'all start reading it and making posts... please don't be these people.

Whatever you may feel about Clementine Book Two, try to remember that Tillie Walden is a real person and she's just doing the job that Skybound hired her for. Tillie's an artist just trying to live her life in Vermont with her wife and their cats, and she's gotta deal with all of these people harassing her posts. She can't even post something non-Clementine related without a bunch of #notmyclementine shit in the comments.

I don't even know what else to say... Uhm, I guess if anyone from those screenshots sees this, then... I don't feel that bad about calling you an asshole. We all learned in kindergarten to treat others the way we want to be treated, but maybe you were sick that day, I don't know. Go outside. Get your life together. We have a short time on this planet and maybe you should try to actually accomplish something while you're here. Eat a kitkat or something👍

Normally i dont make these posts but Ive gotta write it down somewhere. My current thoughts after all the Tears of the Kingdom trailers.... (I haven't seen any leaked artwork and I'm a little rusty on the other games, I haven't played them in a while, but here I go anyway).

1. Whoever this is definitely reminds me of the dragons from Skyward Sword (something about the weird faces, the gold tipped scales, horns, and something on their forehead). The stone necklaces also remind me of the necklace (timeshift stone necklace?) That Old Impa wore in SS

2. Definitely seeing the Twili / Zonai and Sheikah / Zonai connections, also giving me interloper vibes maybe?

A lot of the color combos and gears remind me of Midna. And they way the bot things use arms reminds me of how imp Midna used her hair.

And also Midna's headdress reminds me of the glowing glyphs and the Totk logo. Her skirt has the red lines underneath the design which... looking at now gives me malice type vibes. I also feel like I've seen the tattoo on her leg somewhere else but can't recall where, now.

3. And the mirror of twilight from TP and Gate of time from SS always reminded me of Midna/ the Twili as well, because of the colors and use of gears. Plus the broken shards you have to collect as part of a side quest in botw that people have speculated to be the mirror of twilight

4. Another catch is that Zelda matches whatever ancient robot this is - her earrings match its shoulders and her headpiece matches its head/eye thing

Also somewhere in the trailer there is a floating ship... and SS definitely had some robot pirate. I dont necessarily think that is connected but found it interesting.

So all that. Plus naming it TEARS of the Kingdom when Twilight Princess was all about Tears of Light and Vessels of Light and Midna breaking the mirror with her tear ..... and then Nintendo holding out on the name because they said it would spoil the game.

Im sure I have ither ideas but I'll stop there. If there isnt a connection to Twilight Princess, I'll be surprised.

My morning plans got cancelled, so I've been reading some of my more recent old fanfic. And it made me wonder... I feel as if I write the characters not so much in-character, especially Silver and Sonic. An explanation I can give for that is that I base a lot of my writing on my fic New Beginnings, which is three years old now, now that I think about it. At the time I worked on that I did not have that solid a grasp on character characterisations or writing, nor did I make so many analysis posts on Silver and such. But going through my own fanfics and recalling scenes from New Beginnings makes me see many little things that I feel like are "incorrect" or are something I would not write anymore. Nothing extremely egregious, but mostly word choice on Sonic's part and actions on Silver's. It's making me ponder about characterisations, how to figure out the deeper details behind them (especially in a franchise like Sonic where various "official" media have very different characterisations for many characters compared to the baseline of the games, which understandably often get mixed-and-matched in fandom spaces that I get exposed to a lot. Not to mention the huge differences between Japan and the West.), and how to write characters in a romance story when they do not have any romance in the media they are shown in.

Also, considering I don't like Silver as an uwu silly baby, I feel as if I do write him in that way, at least a little. For example, in New Beginnings he was quite heavily dependent on Espio and wary as heck but also sometimes far more explicitly wide-eyed and innocent, haha. If I don't like Silver getting cinnamon roll-ified, I feel like I should not be complicit in it myself in my own works either. It's definitely something I'll keep in mind if I ever go write for New New Beginnings (title still pending) in full, yet... I know that it's often recommended that you should do what is fun for you most when writing and that it's okay if that makes the characters a bit OoC because it's a fanwork. But I do really want to write him in-character, yet I feel like it's difficult for me to get his true character and his interactions with others down 100% correctly. A lot of my stories seem to kind of automatically put Silver into at least a bit of a cinnamon roll position, especially compared to the far more serious and world-knowledgeable Espio. But as I read my fanfics, it just felt... kind of unfitting? I'm not sure if it's something you can train, though, and I also feel like obsessing a lot about writing him "correctly" is going to stifle my (completely non-existent these days, rip) inspiration even more...

And it is making me ponder about what to do with my old fics. I figure it's best to just not touch them and treat it more like an artwork of "poor" quality that you made at the beginning of your learning journey: something that was still enjoyable to make and that people still like looking at, but that simply does not look as good as something you made years later when you had more skill under your belt. Hmm, this went a bit all over the place, but I hope it's clear what I mean.

I'm very excited for your request, since the gothic and the macabre are probably like at least 75% of my personality 😅 so I have a number of artists I can recommend. you may have already seen it, but in another artist match available here, I talked about some artists whose work is on the darker, unsettling side, so those may interest you as well. but not all of those artists necessarily do the macabre or the gothic more specifically, and of course I want to give you your own personal list of artists 🥰, I just wanted to put those out there if you'd like even more dark art to peruse ☺️

Caspar David Friedrich (The Abbey in the Oakwood and The Hunter in the Forest)

we absolutely must start with my beloved Friedrich! these two paintings are both on my list of favorite artworks of all time. Friedrich was a romantic painter, which in this context doesn't mean "romantic" like we think of the word today, but instead refers to an interest in the "sublime" - a kind of transcendence that could be achieved equally through great beauty and great terror/horror/awe. it was also often highly associated with the power and vastness of nature. we totally see that in many of Friedrich's works. not all of his paintings are explicitly spooky or dark, but he does tend to focus on vast landscapes and skyscapes that tend to overwhelm any human figures in the composition, which leads to a haunting feeling of unease. these two works really exemplify that for me. in the first, we have the ruins of a gothic abbey (gothic architecture is my favorite, so that's part of the reason I adore this piece) and these old wizened trees in this kind of hazy fog over the snow. and in the second, a hunter stands before this dark, imposing forest that consumes the canvas. in the face of these trees, the human seems fragile and powerless. so, while not outwardly macabre, I picked Friedrich for you since his works have that kind of underlying feeling of unease that feels so quintessentially gothic to me.

Pieter Claesz (Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill and Vanitas Still Life)

I absolutely could not make recommendations on macabre art without mentioning a vanitas painter (if you want to know more about this style of art I also have a post here where I ramble on about it for possibly way too long 😅). Claesz also painted regular still lives of just like food and stuff, but it's because of his large number of vanitas paintings that I'm matching him with you ☺️. one thing about him: my mans is not afraid to paint a skull, and we love him for that. I fear I don't have much more profound commentary on this one, because when I see his work my mind goes blank and there are no thoughts except "cool skull." his vanitas paintings just feel very macabre to me, but in a delicate way?? (I have no idea if that makes sense). I just love the scattered collections of items and his liberal deployment of skulls.

John Bauer (The Magic Ride and Princess Tuvstarr Gazing Down into the Dark Waters of the Forest Tarn)

if you're interested in the more supernatural side of the macabre/gothic, you might really like Bauer's illustrations for Among Gnomes and Trolls, a collection of Swedish fairytales/folktales. I was absolutely in awe the first time I saw these illustrations - they just have such a sense of magic and mystery to them. while they certainly are on the more whimsical side, I find that there's also an undeniable darkness in them. the rolling hills and piles of rocks that fade off into darkness, the thin, leafless trees that seem to go on forever in the shadowy background, the ambiguity of time and space - it just gives them this slightly eerie feeling, like you've stepped into another world and you may not be entirely welcome there. for me, these illustrations certainly ride that line between the beautiful and the terrifying, which makes them all the more compelling. I'm not sure if I've done a great job explaining myself here, but I hope you enjoy Bauer's works regardless of my rambling!

Theodor Kittelsen (She Covers the Whole Country and The Pauper from the Pesta series)

not all of Kittelsen's work is necessarily macabre, but his series of prints called Pesta certainly is. Pesta (meaning plague) depicts various personifications of plague moving through the countryside and killing all those in its path. sometimes shown as a flock of carrion birds, sometimes as a horde of rats, and even as a frightening ghoul-like figure, plague stalks the landscape in each of these haunting prints. they actually depict deceased bodies, which might make these the most literally macabre images of the lot. Kittelsen also has some other cool pieces depicting mythological creatures like trolls and water spirits. they have these glowing eyes and they're both creepy and super cool. I just didn't include them here because I had just talked about folklore with Bauer, but I would absolutely recommend you check them out if that's something you find interesting. and these are only two images that I felt were most representative of the Pesta series, you should definitely check out the rest if you liked these!

More Hoenn with the Elite Four now, here's Sidney! Not really much to say here, he's got a fairly unique look to him that I don't think any other Pokemon characters ever get similar vibes as, but other than that idk what else there is to mention specifically. Never got how he's supposed to match the dark-type theming, but then again a type defined by its rebellious attitude probably doesn't truly have one specific theme to go off of hehe. And yeah, about the art itself, I shaded Sidney and Absol separately as well as the background so it's another case of Oops I Flipped The Main Light Source Again. Oh well, I think it still works :3

...I hate how he's reminding me of a certain actor in my depiction here, especially because of a certain movie said certain actor was in that I hate hate haaaaate and can't seem to get away from lately, and also another movie he was in that I hate now for entirely different reasons. Seriously, people, please get better taste in early 90s "comedy" movies. And ditch the antivaxxer actors. ...Sorry for the mostly unrelated tangent.

Very interesting idea!! First, it's not April Fool's day kind of thing I hope? Second, now to my question, do you have any suggestion on which tarot to pick other than visual preference? (which I might go for in the end because I don't know much about tarot and their different types, I think there are at least 2?)

Lol, it's definitely not an April Fools joke! I'm very excited to launch this, I've been sitting on it for a while.

I don't have any Lenormand decks, which might be the 2nd type of tarot you're referring to. All the decks I have follow the traditional 78-card tarot structure. Choosing a deck based on visual style is perfectly valid and often a good indicator of how well you'll work/vibe with that deck and its cards. You can also research the decks' creators or read reviews to see if there's a deck on the list that matches a particular characteristic you're looking for.

I can also give a quick breakdown of the different decks available for the fest:

Rider-Waite-Smith: probably what you think of when you think of tarot. I used the Magician card from this deck in my initial promo post. Many other decks take their inspiration from the Rider-Waite-Smith artwork

Everyday Tarot: simple, minimalistic cards based off the Rider-Waite-Smith art, done in white, gold, and purple

Fifth Spirit Tarot: queer and inclusive deck that expands tarot archetypes beyond the gender binary

Ink Witch Tarot: done in a limited color palette. References Arthurian legends as well as Norse and Greek myths, pagan witches, and fairytales

Light Seer's Tarot: uses contemporary characters in a brightly & richly colored style

Morgan-Greer Tarot: similar to Rider-Waite-Smith but more colorful and more intimate, as a lot of the illustrations are more zoomed-in

Next World Tarot: features a world based on radical redefinitions of love and social justice. Also features diversity in body types and abilities

Queer Tarot: based on the Rider-Waite-Smith but features models/characters of a wide range of queer identities (including gender expressions and sexual orientations) in a very brightly colored style that references queer history

Sasuraibito Tarot: a deck designed to aid the curious wanderer, featuring contemporary Western characters as well as Japanese and Buddhist concepts

Spacious Tarot: this deck features no human characters. Most cards feature only nature, and the court cards feature various animals

This Might Hurt Tarot: a modern, queer, and diverse take on the Rider-Waite-Smith artwork

So any opinions or thoughts on Reba Bubr? She played Jill, Farina and Ivy btw.

Outside of that, she plays Little Mermaid in the Mary Skelter series (I just downloaded the game just recently btw)

I had to look her up because I actually never summoned for Jill or Farina. Jill never struck my interest even though I'm sure she's a great character, and Farina... Mehhhh, I'm not a fan of the "money-hungry" characters. Anna's mostly the exception, but Farina and Rennac are characters like that I don't like. Though she also plays Nikaido in the English dub of Dorohedoro, nice! And... also apparently that character from the famous "Hi Margaret, I hope this email blows your tits clean off" Tumblr post.

But let's talk about her FEH characters, Jill and Farina.

Ok so... Her performance for Farina isn't BAD, but holy shit I can't stand listening to her voice. That's not her fault though! It fits the character really well, and she's got that snooty "You can't afford me" kind of tone. I just think it's a personal sensory thing for me, so I'm honestly not docking her score on that. It's a good voice, and it's definitely someone loud to balance out Fiora and Florina being lower-energy. Interesting that it's the middle sister who's the loud one. Jill... She's got a nice and interesting voice for Jill, somewhat of a rasp and a deeper tone. And her lines about her dad and Mist are very well-delivered. Actually, I think this is a case of great voice, but mis-matched art. Asatani Tomoyo's artwork for Jill is... too lacking and basic in the face. That kind of voice for Jill could have benefited better from an artist like Clover.K, Kibayashi Senri (Altena's artist), or Niji Hayashi. Anyways, Reba does a great job playing Jill, especially in the critical lines.

I think she's a good pick for both characters, and like I said, I don't fault her for the Farina voice being too grating.

Now, there's a very good range between her Farina voice and her Jill voice. I haven't heard her Ivy voice yet so when Ivy gets added to FEH (Which I've got a good feeling that Elusia will be the next Engage banner, we'll see!), but I have a feeling it's definitely drastically different from her Farina voice, lol.

Overall, I'll put Reba at an 8/10 to a 9/10. It's more of a matter of both Jill and Farina not having alts and Ivy not being added yet, so the content to observe and score her by is small. But she does a good job.

I know exactly what person you are talking about...they seem to think just because they put "ai art" in their tags it's going to help...like...no, because people reblogging might not know (I don't like starting drama, but I do think people should avoid the "art" of this person if they can) also they use the tag "digital art" in their posts, and that's so disrespectful to real digital artists who actually can draw and spend hours and even days on their art to share with the world...

And they even hide it at the very end of the tag list, like I can't help but assume they're trying to hide it and fool as many people as they can 😅

Yeah, I was almost fooled myself yesterday, thank God I was feeling too lazy to type the hetalia tags myself so I scrolled past the og tags and I noticed the "ai art" one. I felt so betrayed I needed to spread awareness 💀

I wish these people would bother channeling their efforts into actually learning to make art instead of "putting effort" (yeah some of these people think it takes skill and effort to type prompts, to the point of calling themselves artist ... Lmao, I do mess with AI every once in a while because I'm curious to see what atrocity it'd generate, and it takes absolutely 0 skills once you get the gist of it - which takes like, 15 mins at most) in something so detrimental and disrespectful to ART itself, and real artists.

Eugh, I am pretty sure I recognized the art style AI stole from a legit Hetalia fanartist (who was probably active in the 2010s, dunno their name but I remember their style) in one of that person's fake hetalia artworks. It's so enraging!

... If they are so creative to spend their time coming up with prompts and mental images of the fanart they wish existed, then they should be creative enough to actually pick up a pencil, traditional or digital, and start their journey to become real artists!

Please, learn to enjoy the process, learn to be proud of yourself for your improvements instead of letting disgusting thief AIs take from you the joys and challenges of being an artist.

I spent the last two days working on just the background of a drawing. Was it time-consuming? Yes. Was it challenging? Yes. But that's the point! Art is always a risk, it's always a challenge with yourself be it small or big, because a bad art day and the realization that there's room for improvement is always waiting for you, but the satisfaction of having literally created something that previously didn't exist, and it existing because you manually laid every stroke and chose every color and kept going by trial and error until it looked right... It is all so satisfying! Being able to say "this exists because I put my time, and efforts and eyes and hand and heart in it" ...

How can you trade this all with an empty window where you type stuff and a robotic thief steals right and left to give you what you had in mind?? An AI could NEVER deliver 100% the picture you have in your mind. Do you know who can? YOU!

I genuinely hope this AI ""Art"" hype will die down and rot in hell like N F * Ts did.

I do believe AI itself can be useful for artists, for instance to get references for very specific things that can be hard or time-consuming to find, or to study chromatic harmony (which is something AI admittedly does well), but it must be ethically sourced (artists could be able to upload their artworks if they wish, and they should get a royalty for anytime the AI uses their work as a base) and have some kind of anti-piracy feature. For instance, every generated picture might be kept in a hidden archive and whenever there's suspicion that someone used AI Art improperly (posting it as their own work, or worse making money out of it), the picture can be uploaded on this archive and see if it matches any picture that the AI previously generated.

I know it's delusional, but I truly hope we get to a point where this garbage gets properly regulated.
