Young Justice is always a little...concerned. With Phantom's living situation. Now they're outright afraid for him, and Bart has decided it's time to Ask An Adult.

It was the little quips. The tiny little things. Stuff that didn't seem to matter to Phantom at all, or appeared to be normal for him, that he didn't realize weren't normal at all.

"Oh, better not hope my mom catches me." "Doing what, staying out past bedtime?" "Nah, using my powers; she'd vivisect me!"

"Another stab wound. Great." "Don't worry Phantom, I've got the med kit-" "Oh, I'm not a baby or anything, I can handle it just fine. Just gimme a sec to take it out."

"My dad has better aim than that." "...Like, when he's hunting, right?" "...At what other times would he be shooting at me?"

"Huh. Not as bad as my parents place. Look; they have a decontamination shower!" "Phantom, this lab has been vandalized to the point of needing a hazmat suit." "Did I stutter?"

Finding out each others identities did nothing to soothe the worry. Tim quietly told the others that every time he tried to run facial recognition, he kept hitting a government firewall he couldn't breach. Phantom never told them his last name, just his first, and 'Danny' is super common.

The thing that really did it though, the thing that made Bart snap and run off to ask Max, was when Danny had a nightmare.

He was talking in his sleep.

"No. Don't-stop. Stoooop. I need...my skin. Mom, no. You can't...peel off...my skin..."

Bart didn't even wait for them to wake Danny up before he was standing in front of Max, talking a mile a minute as he tried to figure out what to do, with Wally staring in horror over a plate of waffles as he computed everything that Bart was saying.

Danny had a dream about his mom and Skulker arguing about how to skin him. He wouldn't really call it a nightmare, because it was just Skulker, but the scariest thing was Skulker insisting to his mom that it was possible to skin him with a potato peeler. Dream mom was arguing that it was not, and that from a scientific standpoint that was a really piss poor way to preserve a specimen.

He hadn't been begging them to stop hurting him, he'd been whining at them to knock it off.

But when he wakes up, it's to a room full of worried friends and an old man who calls himself Max.

"Kid, I think we need to talk."

the way people talk about and view mental illness has always been under this veil of sympathy and understanding but really when that energy is most needed it all just vanishes. we have 200 more specific terms for certain symptoms and 2000 more videos on how to stop procrastinating and how to deal with rejection sensitive dysphoria and 50000 new videos on how it's In Your Brain and it's Hereditary and it's Homemade by your Primary Caregivers but people still dont really ...get it. they just dont. the resources available are so hollow. its empty promises. suicide hotline that just gets you insta-detained. therapist you talk in circles with for a third of your income per session. housing program with a wait list that only gets longer. this insistence that you build up a support system with no support. this quietly depleting time frame you have (or feel you have, this very real pressure) in which to get your shit together before you're just another sad statistic. always having to wait until you're at the brink of complete self destruction to get help, and by then. how much damage is already done

#i do think healing is possible i have seen that in the world #i do think there ARE good resources but they are few and far between #i think the greatest resource at anyones disposal tends to be something thats hard to build from the ground up #which is: a stable foundation. family members you can fall back on #if we had stuff like ubi. guaranteed housing. i know people here know that already #but truly. truly that is one of the most key things second to the good family that a lot of ppl dont have #wouldnt fix everything but itd be such a good start #every couple decades we reinvent 'moral care' when we realize the institutions for mentally ill ppl are actually like. brutalizing them #the way they have since the beginning #and then those good intentions get bogged down by The System of it all all over again #at some point we have to reckon with the sheer amount of people struggling this way and prepare resources more adequately #have enough people so that everyone can get the amount of support they need and give that support without getting burnt out #thats why we end up wsith this stuff like friendships that cant handle your 'trauma dumping' and 'emotional labor' bc there is...a capacity #for everyone #which is why you need a whole host of people you can trust and confide in. which is hard to get!

Not the right season AT ALL but

The guys all helping Davy dress up for Halloween and taking him trick or treating. Of course the guys are also dressed up but some of them Michael use Davy as an excuse to why he’s dressing up and going out.

All the other people their age are going to big crazy parties and the guys are just happily trick or treating. And of course there’s one neighbour (probably Babbitt) who always chooses trick and Davy busts out a little dance all excitedly. They then all go crazy on a sugar high :p

of course davy loves dressing up, mike tags along with him as the tired parent™️ (even though he secretly loves it. davy will sit mike down and start dressing him up in all sorts of things and mike thinks it’s very cute… until he almost gets poked in the eye with a makeup brush and they have to have a talk about watching for people’s eyes. but its halloween, any chance to get a ton of free sweets, c’mon?)

micky LOVES halloween, he’s having a groovy time. his goal is to spook peter, but for some reason the kid won’t get spooked! peter is sometimes worried the holiday will be too scary for him, but he’s found he really likes it! he finds a way to sympathize with all the monsters and so micky has a hard time getting him to be just plain scared.

I too was wondering what was going on in Remnant. Nothing significant happened in the Ever After. Just bees and some lore dump at the end. How are the supporting cast holding up with the Grimm and refugees? What of my boy Sun and his team? Then there's CFVY and Theodore. Maybe they should've had that as a basis for their movie if they wanted people to watch it. Not some crossover that disappoints.

Judging by that shot at the end of V9, things have probably gone just swell enough that we can handwave the absolute clusterfuck that was V8's leave-tens-of-thousands-of-civilians-stranded-in-a-Grimm-infested-desert-hit-by-a-sandstorm ending.

Would making a starbound oc askblog be worth it in 2022? I’ve never run an askblog before but would like to try it and I’ve been playing SB since the beta so I have a good amount of developed ocs.

I'm gonna be honest with you, 'Non, I'm still quite fresh to Tumblr ^.^' I'm assuming an Ask Blog is where folk send in questions and you answer, as your characters perhaps?

There clearly is still interest in Starbound on Tumblr, but the thing is: I'm very happy with throwing my silly little builds and stories and other shenanigans into the void and the void being indifferent. An Ask Blog sounds like it needs far more interaction from a willing audience than what I'm doing.

I think my answer is going to have to be - try and see. Give yourself a few months for things to get going, and don't get too discouraged if it doesn't take off. Maybe make use of the anon feature to send yourself asks to get the ball rolling.

Let me know if/when you make it so I can send you some asks & encourage a little bit of love.
