So sad that Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses does not have any bloopers. Like I would have loved to see Derek breakdancing like Julian and Louis. He would have looked awesome. So cool.*sigh*
I've seen some people, usually non barbie fans, who think that it's dumb that she lost because of a fan but I think it's really satisfying story wise
Rowena was sent to the castle to teach the girls act more like princesses, she took away everything they loved and tried her best to repress who they were in different ways like giving them simple dresses instead of their previous ones that included their flowers and colors and forbade them to dance, their favourite hobby. She created a divide between the girls and their father and manipulated them into thinking that the king doesn't love them.
Rowena never cared about them and their talents, she only put her full attention on the important things, the throne and killing the king, the only reason she discovered the magical world was because of brutus. She thought so low of the sisters that she never even considered believing them (well a magical land is pretty unbelievable but still)
And that's her biggest mistake, underestimating the power of 12
Rowena only saw the sisters as reckless girls and nothing more. They managed to beat the guards with their own talents that were looked down on throughout the movie and unlike rowena they knew who they were dealing with. At the end genevive used what rowena taught them against her,to do what she forbade them to do forever.
Her major flaw was underestimating the sisters and that backfired on her in the end
I would just like to say that in my very humble opinion:
Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses is a perfect movie.
Fights me on this. I dare you.
From the 12 princesses and the ridiculously princess-like names, the over supplication of the plot line and the creepy monkey named Brutus (of all things) to the utter beauty that is the soundtrack. I’ll say it again. It’s a perfect movie.
I don’t care old how I get. I will always rewatch this one.
