Hey all, I work on the back end of public commenting periods. I’m the one who has to sort through your comments and decide if your comments warrant more than a ‘thank you for your comment’ and nothing more.

If you want your comment to make an impact, here’s some suggestions.

1. Read the associated documents. The public ruling probably put out documents and fact sheets related to it answering a lot of questions you could ask. If you ask a question that’s already answered in the document, we’ll just hit you with a ‘see section 2B on page 346’ and we’re done.

(Need an accessible version of a document? Legally, they have to provide one for you.)

2. Ask a question that will require facts to back up. Yes, it feels good saying ‘how can you sleep at night proposing this oil drilling????’ But it could be more impactful to say ‘how does allowing drilling on this property contend with the endangered species act, as the Spotted Owl has multiple breeding nests in that area? Here are the Cornell lab of ornithology reports showing these breeding areas, and the designation of them as an endangered species by the federal government’.

3. Talk to the workers (nicely) it possible. They also might have tips on what kind of comments are valuable to this specific ruling.

4. Provide credible sources when possible!

idw Ratchet is someone who follows orders and respects authority. He might follow his conscience in spur-of-the-moment decisions that allows him the leeway/initiative to act on his own (e.g. setting up clinic on Dead End, breaking cover to save Verity and Hunter, going to look for Drift, voting against Rodimus in mtmte) but he's never openly defied the orders of an acting leader. Regardless if he doesn't agree with said order and thinks it's stupid. Or wrong.

Even when Ratchet thinks Rodimus' treatment of Drift is unfair, he never speaks up against Rodimus during the actual issue of the exile verdict. He only offers Drift silent support by helping him up on the way out, because Rodimus is the captain and you don't argue with the captain. Yes he thinks Rodimus is a crap captain and acts condesending towards him all the time but when it comes to rank and orders there's no ambiguity.

Voting against Rodimus in the crisis act is a legitimate expression of disapproval, made anonymously in private. He doesn't care about Rodimus knowing his vote, but in public it stays anonymous. He does tell Rodimus off about what he did to Drift, but again, he makes sure it's a private one-on-one appointment. He also doesn't make Rodimus formally revoke Drift's exile or sanction his search, he resigns his position as CMO and quietly leaves to look for Drift himself as a personal commitment.

Common stereotype of what Ratchet is not:

Medic ethics and commitment to patients comes first, factions be damned. I don't care if he's a Decepticon, he's my patient.

No he's not actually like that? When Megatron's in custody he's all lets dissect him awwwww why can't we dissect him why does mass murderers still get rights that's so stupid can't I just torture him a little?

Like he spent the whole war patching up Decepticon-inflicted wounds and witnessing Decepticon-inflicted deaths. He's not a saint. He has as much good reason to hate Megatron and his faction as any other Autobot.

In fact he was pretty eager to ask Optimus about what he's going to decide as Megatron's punishment after he heard about Optimus frying Megatron on the voltage harness.

Optimus has his heart on clemency. Ratchet's the one hoping for execution or something equally nasty. Even though their opinions doesn't line up, Ratchet's still 100% supportive of Optimus' decision.

He repairs Megatron only because of Bumblebee's orders, and makes his unwillingness known.

Later in mtmte Ratchet does save Megatron's life of his own volition and repairs him again, but that's after he's lived with Megatron on the same ship for six months (again something that he considers to be a colossally bad idea but is forced to live with because of orders) and got to know him as a person. Not because of bleeding heart syndrome.

Also Ratchet's not just a grouch all the time. He can be blunt but also knows when to be respectful as appropriate to the occasion. He reprimands Wheeljack for being disrespectful to Bumblebee because leaders should be treated like leaders.

The guy's been CMO since Nominus Prime, essentially the highest-ranking of his profession on the planet; you can't get to that type of position and hold it through consecutive leaders for millions of years without considerable interpersonal skills and knowledge of social protocol.

Prowl does have Ratchet on his little blacklist but the stuff on there really just refers to Ratchet saving Verity and Hunter back in Infilitration. I read it as more of a testament to Prowl's pettiness than Ratchet actually being a problem.

#Ratchet also doesn't stop Rodimus when he orders Chromedome to inject. even if Chromedome protests #Things ratchet might do if unhappy with someone's leadership: #arrange a private meeting to talk about his concerns like a normal adult #do what he can within what leeway he has without being openly rebellious #act first ask permission later #snark about it #grouch about it #complain about it #then go with it #Things Ratchet will NOT do: #scream at the person in charge in public confrontation #undermine the person in charge by participating in said public confrontation #make a scene #he doesn't do morality lectures either #what is up with that anyway #transformers #maccadam #idw transformers #mtmte #Ratchet #I'm pretty sure other ratchets are like this too? tfp. bayverse. cyberverse #don't know about tfa cant remember most of the stuff in that #wfc trilogy has a different background for his character so. but it's the only Ratchet with a 'I don't care about factions' attitude #idk where all the other stereotypes come from is everyone basing their interpretations on the synth-energon episode in tfp? #yeah he was yelling at Optimus a lot there but it was all about how Optimus should have used MORE violence #and also with the throwing wrentches. why does he throw wrenches?

Not me getting emotional over people saying that Harrow doesn't care about Gideon, like. How do y'all even read books 😭😭

Anyway here's a completely factual list of things Harrow does throughout GtN and HtN (no Nona because she's barely in Nona) that show Harrow may be incredibly bad at expressing her emotions but she cares very deeply, indeed:

GtN:

- Harrow is the first to pay Gideon a compliment

- Harrow leaves bread for Gideon even though she herself is overwhelmed by food and doesn't eat breakfast

- Harrow thinks someone is dangerous and immediately decides to take them on herself instead of putting Gideon in danger (she thinks she is giving Gideon the safe/easy task)

- Harrow refuses lyctorhood when she finds out the price , even though it's all she's wanted and it's the only thing that will save her house (and she knows she NEEDS to save her house and continue Anastasia's line)

- Harrow begs Gideon not to die

- Harrow says she "cannot conceive a world without [Gideon]"

- Upon becoming a lyctor the first thing she does is beg the Emperor for Gideon's life

- And when he says no, sorry impossible, she says "how can you ask me to live with it?"

HtN:

- Upon becoming a lyctor, Harrow, genuius extraordinaire, decides that if she lobotomizes herself to forget Gideon and override her name, it MIGHT save her soul (she isn't even sure if it will work! It's the only thing she has to try) even though she knows this risks her own life (not to mention her brain, which is like the one thing she is incredibly proud of)

- She spends the next few weeks puking and being mad generally having a pretty bad time of lyctorhood

- she dies even Gideon's name on her lips even though! She doesn't even know! Who Gideon is!

- her mind reconstructs several AUs of her relationship with Gideon

- she repeats their wedding vows from GtN

- Upon remembering Gideon, she is extremely happy that her scheme worked

- She threatens to hurt anyone who says Gideon killed herself and insists Gideon was murdered

- Upon learning that Gideon's soul is in control of her body she decides to take a nap in the tomb/(pocket dimension?) Instead of reclaiming her body and destroying Gideon once and for all.

And this is just like. Completely factual information, i haven't included any of the meta or allusions or parallels to other relationships that are drown. This is just. A list.

im officially packing up catgirlhell and my side, purrgatoria, effective immediate. i didnt expect to open twitter today and find the ceo of a website actively stalking a user he'd banned, and i dont want any of my shit on this platform. aside from the grossness of what's happened to Rita, this speaks to a genuinely unsafe environment for users going forward. i do not need the moderators and owners of the website i use to share my funny little pictures doxxing me across social media in their hate screed. i will be making archives of these accounts, and then i will be moving permanently to co-host, twitter, and bluesky for the foreseeable future.

until the current ceo is removed and the stuff with the moderation team is properly addressed, i do not feel safe on this site and will not contribute any further traffic to it.

alright. know what? with Secrets of the Obscure right around the corner and plenty of new Mists-related sky island settings coming with it, I'll just bite the bullet and interest-check a little something I've been turning in my head for a long, long while.

would YOU be interested in a Mists-based GW2 roleplay guild that uses a lore compliant multiverse system to allow canon, canon-adjacent, lore-breaking, and otherwise 'contradictory' muses to coexist in the same setting?

simply put: every writer's cast would be set in their own self-contained universe. as such, everyone could bring whatever muses they want with their own personal headcanons, and no one could dictate what is or isn't canon for anyone else. so long as your muses are GW2-based, you're good to go! bring your Commanders, bring your canon-divergent OCs, bring your canon muses-- and yes, even the ones that are 'supposed' to be dead. who can say what might have happened in a strange world far across the Mists, after all?

neutral hubs and in-character safety guardrails would be in place to keep all muses on a relatively even playing field regardless of their power, history, and prestige, too. play hardball if you like, but it might not end quite the way you'd hope. the main rule would be to maintain good OOC etiquette at all times: no godmodding, no metagaming, no theft, don't blend IC and OOC, and so-on.

I keep getting notifs on my posts about the community movie from people Just Now finding out that there’s a movie happening so here’s a. psa

nbc’s community is finally fulfilling its promised “six seasons and a movie.”

the movie was announced by nbc last fall and was supposed to come out this fall exclusively on peacock. but, because of the writer’s strike, filming has been pushed back to next summer. I haven’t heard anything about a new release date, but it is definitely still happening.

people confirmed to participate include: joel mchale (who will also be an executive producer), gillian jacobs, danny pudi, donald glover, alison brie, jim rash, and ken jeong.
