I don't know what it is but that thing has been down there for a really long time. The M.X.E.S security program was supposed to keep it hidden, but you shut down the security, and now it's free. It's not your fault. I know you did it for me, to save me, but we can't risk being followed, I'm sorry.

Ngl y'all feeling kinda sappy and blessed by the Lake itself rn

Insane how after all this time this series still brings me so much joy. But not only the series, also the fanbase. I swear reading what you all have to say about the art I make makes waking up every day feel worth it 😭

I did not expect Down the Rabbit Hole to get much attention just cuz David isn't really a fan favorite and he only ever really mattered to me, which is why I made this comic to begin with... I just love David/Mr. Rabbit that much. And tho I was anxious and had my doubts about being able to pull something like this comic off, especially cuz I wasn't sure if I would upset the lore bros (which I did like once but it got resolved super quickly) all I knew was that I just wanted to make something special for David that I feel like would really make a mark in the fanbase... Even after I leave to, no doubt, hibgernate again, And I feel like I did that. But it wouldn't have been that way without all the love and support I got from everyone on here and reddit especially. Like you guys made this comic special 😭🙏 you gave me motivation and confidence to work on it and to make it something special.

I know I don't talk to any of u 1 on 1 (tho I'm always open to I promise I don't bite) but still seeing your tags and reading your comments means the world to me. I'm truly nothing but an artist trying to share their love for something they care about deeply, and you guys were there to tell me "yah, this is cool". Like seriously some of you wrote me comments that I now think about every day and it makes me smile every day.

Ig what I'm trying to say is just thank u for following me, thank you for giving my art the time of day. Your time is precious and you chose to spend it reading my silly comic and looking at my goofy art and even write me something. I appreciate that sm. So thank you 🙏 and I hope I can always make things, whether for Rusty Lake or just art in general, that makes people happy. It's all I want with my art and what makes me happy to be an artist.

hi hi hi!! thank you for asking me these, this is so much fun!! reading back on these answers after I've written them is shocking because I really can just go on and on about stuff, huh? I really don't talk that much irl so I didn't know I had all this in me hahaha I'm so sorry!! I'm actually so embarrassed 😅 I'm gonna put the answer to 11 in a separate post so I can actually attach the picture I'm proud of!

the one ship that's jumping out to me is dramione. I am a huge hater of this ship (sorry sorry sorry if you're reading this and it's your thing I love you and support you!!!) but you guys make some really cool shit and I'm happy you have a community you can share it with!! I've poked around in the ao3 and tumblr tags and its absolutely not for me, but there's some really beautiful and horny stuff out there for this ship and I so genuinely love that for all of you!

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate

if I'm being totally honest with you, I haven't interfaced with the harry potter canon in a very long time. i already own all the movies and books and stuff, so I wouldn't even be giving jk money by rewatching/reading them, but it just kind of makes my stomach hurt when I think about supporting her in some way. I've had to work through a lot of complicated feelings in regards to jk and harry potter in general, as I'm sure many people have had to do! her words and actions and how I feel about it are not complicated at all, but what to do in the aftermath of it was something I had to figure out. I mean, I have a hp tattoo on my ankle!! my pinned post is about this specifically, but where I've ultimately landed on it all is this: I don't want to let her steal any more joy from me than she already has. there are so many queer and trans people in this fandom creating such incredible stuff, and I just don't want to lose that! I got off on a whole tangent here and definitely have a lot more I could say on the topic, BUT all this to say, I can't really think of tiny hp details anymore!! and in this specific fandom, I'm totally okay with that!

the fandom that I interact with the most is definitely harry potter, but I have a bunch of other stuff I'm super into!!

the whole reason I got back into any fandom–and the entire reason I logged back into Tumblr for the first time since 2018–was because of our flag means death!! I've loved rhys darby since flight of the conchords and was so pumped that he was a lead in an hbo show! I was totally shocked when ofmd turned out to not be queerbait!! something about that first season just flipped a switch in me and I looked for fan fiction for the first time in like, 10 years!! I actually didn't even know about ao3 and tried to go to ff.net and it was a whole thing. getting back into fandom was very intimidating, I'm not gonna lie. (wow I really could just talk forever huh?)

my other fandoms are: the sandman, the witcher, good omens (I was so late to that show but jumped on right before the second season completely on accident), check please!, disco elysium, red dead redemption (especial rdr2), the x files, the walking dead, the rivers of london series, and d&d: honor among thieves.

and then there's some stuff that I don't even know how I got into!! like, the spideypool ship. gang, I've barely seen any marvel movies, I haven't read very many marvel comic books. and I honestly don't plan it because I just don't like marvel (once again, could go on about this forever, I was a manager at my local comic shop and have many opinions). but someone I follow posted about a fic (and I am not immune to beautiful fan art) and then I fell down the rabbit hole!! def have recs if anyone is interested!

another one is the ted lasso fandom. I genuinely don't remember why we never finished watching the second season but then the reviews for the third season was kinda mixed so I never went back to it. and then I saw a writer I'm head over heels for had a ted lasso fic (other lives by @andthepeople) and WHOOPS I fell down another rabbit hole!! i also have ted lasso recs!

essentially, if ya boy's read/watched/listened to something, you know he's gonna go look at what the freaks (affectionate) are posting on ao3.

Oh would you look at that? nobody actually tagged me, but im really proud of this fic and will forever be my precious baby and my first non canon compliant or canon adjacent fic.

(alternatively called: the superhero au)

this was written thanks to a prompt from @inexplicablymine for @thebrownstone anniversary exchange and ive never had so much fun writing something ever. it was in the middle of a writers block and i spent SO long thinking about it (mainly bc i cant stand the movie or a certain actress on it) before i remembered my aforementioned hyperfixations on both the bright sessions and the flash (at some point i hope somebody makes a tbs x rwrb fic before i end up caving in and do it myself, even though it would be very similar to this fic, now that i think about it).

(break where i give little information about this bc the research was long and incredibly fun)

after all of that, it was so long that i spent on a google rabbit hole of researching superpowers and thinking how would it fit each person (i KNEW before anything else that i was going to give bea music powers, and after that the rest followed) so it is funny how all of their powers correlate between family and stuff and i need everyone to know about this bc i really spent so long thinking of it.

you have the mountchristen line, that has the "mind powers", starting with mary (psyren) that has the powers to manipulate minds, but it is more like suggestions, so that's why alex and bea could shrug it off and how henry would be able to after fighting his usual response of like going along whatever mary said; then you have catherine (vis) that has telekinesis, aka manipulation of objects through her mind (dont ask me about the name this one was very much just thrown out there when i looked it up suggestions on google). thats where arthur (foxglove) comes in with his ecokinesis (this is more like controlling plants but not really with his mind but like hes in TUNE with the planet and nature ala poison ivy kinda thing(?) (also yes ofc i found out there is a PLANT called FOX-GLOVE and gave it as a name for arthur. that is something he 100% would do and i dont receive criticism for it) and starts the fox-mountchristen line with philip (no i didnt think of his superhero name bc even though he is a bit redeemed here, he doesnt deserve it) and his MANIPULATION OF THE LIGHT WITH HIS MIND. and yes its cool and all, but i just want to emphasize that i wanted them to be able to MANIPULATE PARTS OF NATURE WITH THEIR MINDS BC ITS A MIX OF BOTH CATH AND ARTHUR (sjfnakdjfkahdmfhansbfmahdm im sorry i thought of it while still blocked and thought it was absolutely genius 💀💀). then there comes beautiful gorgeous bea who doesnt have a pseudonym bc she's actually part of the agency trying to control that superheroes dont do crazy stuff (yes bc of mary) and shes a badass agent and also has a band on the side bc she CAN MANIPULATE SOUND AHFNSJHSSJDJABHSNSHAJS. and lastly theres henry with his empathy and this is something not implied but more like a nod to tbs bc henry's actual powers are the manipulation of emotions which MEANS HENRY IS BASICALLY INCREDIBLY FUCKING POWERFUL but since he really doesnt like all that superhero shit, he doesnt care about it. at some point in time, he might discover hes even able to push emotions into other people, but again, since that was a nod to tbs, thats just something for them to discover in the future and thats it.

on the other hand, you have the claremont-díaz line that is messy as fuck, because in this universe, ellen enlisted in the army like her father and she ended up becoming a super soldier, along the lines of captain america, and was called "lometa longshot" bc yes ofc i had to. so you see how she doesnt have actual powers but instead she just has everything ENHANCED????; then you have oscar, who has the ability to fly, (which, fun fact, was actually the last power i thought of bc the idea of it is that oscar had some power of MOVEMENT), and bc you have impossible movement and enhancement, you get beautiful june with her powers of teletransportation that allow her to be a badass reporter and always get exclusives bc of how fast she can get somewhere; and you get alex with his undiagnosed adhd and the fire under his ass for no good reason and then there was absolutely no other choice but to give him super speed (and has nothing to do with the fact that he, like barry allen, is a very intelligent but very chaotic bisexual with undiagnosed adhd).

nora is there vibing, being a tecnopath and having actual numbers on her brain while also planning to conquer the world and also become kind of an iron-woman(? in that she makes gadgets for superheroes and for herself. pez is also vibing and being so cool they even have two powers, being able to shapeshift AND mimic the powers of ppl near them. hes the actual threat in that if they wanted, they could absolutely conquer the world.

ANOTHER FUN FACT: this is fairly obvious but in the us the school is called sky high and in uk the school is called wonder school bc i couldnt think of anything else and my reference for names of schools in the uk is that wizardry school from that horrible book so like,,,,, yeah.

LAST FUN FACT I SWEAR: theres a list of classes and their kind of equivalents that showed up after i decided alex would absolutely never stand this hero/sidekick bullshit shsksjsksjsksjsksjsksjs it was fun even though im yet to grasp the concept of american education(????? I absolutely adore this story and it is one of the few one-shots that I wish was longer or had an epilogue that would tell us what happened next. Usagi telling Mamoru “That’s so cool! You literally fix broken hearts for a living!” and “Can I keep you?” are just *chef’s kiss* (She absolutely has to keep him!)

The Unintentional Seduction of Chiba Mamoru - @floraone

I feel like this story should be part of the required reading for.. well… everyone actually. It literally comes with sources for additional information in chapter notes! This fic covers the “Teach Seduction”, as well as “he loved her all along” tropes, but does it in a very unique way that makes it stand apart from the similar attempts. It is in the top 5 bookmarked Sailor Moon Fics on AO3 for a reason.

Rabbit in the Wolf's Den - @reispinkoveralls

This one-shot is actually part of this year’s Smutember submissions. You can feel Usagi’s nerves as the story unfolds and the game Mamoru is playing with her progresses. This was definitely a very creative solution to keep Usagi motivated to finish her schoolwork!

Hey guys maybe we should stop drawing pre-transition fanart of people who have publicly transitioned just for fun. (And also like,,, sharing pictures or using picture of them as profile picture cause thats also not cool :/…)

Drawing an oc of yours pre-transition is not what im talking about right now!

What I’m talking about is taking a real trans person, one who has publicly transitioned, and intentionally drawing fanart of them from before they transitioned. Thats like super disrespectful, and its kinda ridiculous that I feel like I have to say something.

One of the most prominent examples of this to me that I see all the god damn time is Rabbit, or Isabella bunny Bennett from the band Steam Powered Giraffe. When the band was first started Isabella had not yet transitioned so the character she played reflected that i.e. she played a masculine character at the time. But she eventually transitioned publicly and the character she played in the band changed with her to reflect who she is. But even as of this moment I can scroll through like any website with the steam powered giraffe hashtag and find any number of pieces of art of Isabella’s pre-transitioned character and it frustrates me to no end.

One of the main defenses ive seen to this is “well i like this makeup of hers more.” And it like mind boggling how you can justify disrespecting someone like that just because you ‘like a specific makeup’ more than another. You’re not five, recognizing what you’re doing is messed up, apologize and fix it.

Im just like, so tired of this and so pissed off about it. I hate seeing it and once again its so ridiculous that I feel like I have to say something about it.

About my Security Breach AU fic on Ao3!!!

Do you love/like/tolerate Security Breach but wish Vanny had gotten more screentime? Do you wish you could have seen her slow descent into madness and villainy? Do you think it would be super cool if Vanessa was a separate person who fought desperately to protect Gregory and save her not-girlfriend-sort-of-girlfriend?

Well.

Breached is a 100k+ word fic currently in progress (about 60% done on Ao3) which serves as a fix-it/AU for Security Breach but also for the months leading up to that night. It is a Sapphic psychological horror based on the premise that Vanny and Vanessa are two different people and also they're in lesbians with each other.

Vanessa Ando (but you can call her Vanny) is a tech-savvy, rabbit-loving woman who has always dreamed of being the next William Afton. (Unfortunately for her, she gets exactly what she wants.) While helping the company debug their new VR game, Help Wanted, Vanny finds her undead mentor trapped in the game's code. Together, they get him out of there and into her head.

(It doesn't take long for her to realize she's made a horrible mistake.)

Vanessa Andros ('Ava' to avoid confusion) is hired as night security at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex in late January, and she immediately becomes enamored with Vanny (who also works as night security, just on opposite nights.) But between all of Vanny's work projects and her own worry over the strange rabbit-suited woman breaking into her workplace, Ava has a hard time pursuing romance. (Though that doesn't mean she won't try!)

Gregory is a 12 year old boy who is definitely the son of someone in Fazbear Entertainment management. He is totally not homeless and absolutely doesn't sleep at the pizzaplex or scavenge the eateries there for his meals. He's also completely unaware of any weird things going on at the plex, including odd glitches interfering with the Glamrock band's functionality and some weird rabbit traipsing around at night. Yep. He's totally fine, and he loves when that oblivious blonde security guard pokes around in his business.

All three get roped into the plans of Glitchtrap, whose primary goal is to collect enough remnant to get his consciousness transferred to a new body. If he can do that, he'll no longer have to share the body with one (or is it two?) very reluctant follower(s).

To be exceedingly clear, I love the original game and the official versions of Gregory and Vanessa! I just also like AUs, and I started this fic before the game came out when we weren't sure if Vanny and Vanessa would end up being the same person. I also take and leave from the canon based on what I like or dislike for the purposes of Breached. GGY is semi-canon, and Vanny's boss is Glitchtrap/William - not the mimic.

im thinking about the digital space and how much get preserved bc i was gonna delete my main blog but im glad i didnt. but just looking through all the archives, this site keeps a lot and people come and go but shit still lingers for better or worse. i can deep dive into old fandom tags and see art which is nice. like little memories.

mainly bringing this up bc its cool to see how art evolves? with the internet you get to see a variety of styles but there's still trends and such. even the way people draw and depict characters. more specifically i was thinking about jojo fanart and seeing art of the characters from a time when there were no official anime colors or something its just kinda cool. it's a 30 yr old series and didnt get SUPER popular until part 3 rolled around, so theres just decades of fanworks you can get lost into a rabbit hole. (that's why i think people truly get sucked into jojo.)

longwinded way to say people make art and that's what makes it art and a form of expression ok ^_^

Are you named after anyone? - Nope, I was actually named something else until I was born when I came out the wrong gender (they thought I was boy, scans weren’t great in the 80’s lol) So I was nameless for the first couple weeks of my life until my aunt named me, she thought the name she chose matched my sister’s name well, said we sounded like sisters.

When was the last time you cried? - Like six hours ago lol, I had an anxiety attack which usually involves some tears.

Do you have kids? - Nope, I cannot medically have children. If I did manage to get pregnant by some miracle, there’s a good chance I could die ☠️

Do you use sarcasm a lot? - According to medical professionals, I apparently use it as a coping mechanism lol!

What spots do you play/have played? - I haven’t played a sport since I was in school, ngl. I was on the girl’s travel soccer team and the shot put team. I also did gymnastics, swam and ice skated. I was big into BMX biking when I was a pre-teen too, it was a 90’s, that was super cool at the time.

What’s the first thing you notice about other people? - Height, eyes, lips, hands.

What’s your eye colour? - Dark dark brown, my eyes look black indoors and nearly gold in direct sunlight.

Scary movies or happy endings? - I enjoy scary movies more than anything, but I do tend to write happy endings. So… both 🤷‍♀️

Any special talents - I mean, I have one that tends to be a party trick that people want to see when they find out about it. I have zero gag reflex, no it’s not suppressed, no I don’t have to work past it, it’s just legit not there. I’ve had doctors look at me in shock when they basically stick their hand down my throat and I don’t blink an eye lol. @kellanwrites once watched me put an entire banana down my throat without even breaking eye contact 😉

Where were you born? - Ontario, Canada.

What are your hobbies? - Reading, crocheting, writing, baking, nail art, colouring, video games, sitting around and doing nothing while waiting for the cold hand of death to grip me and drag me away… too dark? That might have gotten too dark, sorry about that.

Do you have any pets? - A dog, a rabbit, and guinea pig and four cats.

How tall are you? - I’m 5’8, which is very tall for someone who’s AFAB, although I am one of the shorter females in my family, shockingly lol. My older sister is 5’11 and my mother is 6’ tall.

Favourite subject at school - English, science, art, music and history.

Dream job - Something where I wouldn’t have to interact with anyone, like stacking books or shelves in the back of a store. Counting out pills in a pharmacy, just a job where I could count/stack/arrange things quietly away from people. Maybe working in an archive of some sort 🤔

YEAH and i’m not gonna tag them because i’m about to be embarrassing as fUCK but

1. caffeinewitchcraft - absolutely incredible author, everything they post on here gives me damn shivers when i read it. my favorite prompt fill they’ve posted is one about having made up a language as a kid but you meet somebody who also knows the language you thought you made up. again - CHILLS. they just have so many wonderful ideas and their writing can really just grab ahold of you and take you on a journey, it’s amazing!

2. luckystarchild/luckychild - this is my FAVORITE fanfic author EVER. i love their yyh fanfic lucky child! i have re-read it several times (tho i am currently behind on the updates atm) and UGH i just love their writing so much!!!! again, another incredible author that i just super adore. it makes ME want to write when i read their writing! (and re-read their writing, because even if yyh isn’t my current hyperfixation atm, their writing is so fantastic. i can almost always just go back and re-read their stuff and love it all over again, i’m never not in the mood for it. :D)

3. bamsara - aaaaaaaaah i love bam’s art so much. like literally i know their fic only JUST dragged me into this sun and moon hyperfixation, but there’s also a really WILD overlap of interests?? they write (and draw) for invader zim, too, and they also love (as far as i can tell) lilo and stitch. and like??? that’s 1. my favorite movie ever and 2. my FIRST fandom ever. and their art style just gives me life?? and their writing??????? holy fuck! bam is just really incredible all around and they do SO much, even though they constantly have people stealing their art and are frustrated by dealing with that. i just think they’re super cool and talented and i frequently scroll through their art tag abshsajkd they have so many funny ideas that they turn into comics and put in their fics;;; all around just. yeah. cool. god i’m so embarrassing

4. shandzii - again, another SUPER incredible artist who’s work and art style i adore. i CRAVE. iirc they are an animator on helluva boss? which i LOVE???? and their art-style (much like helluva boss) is that wonderful cartoony style SO reminiscent of invader zim era animation (i think i am NO expert) and their stuff is pretty much ALWAYS colored, and AHHH THEIR ANIMATIONS - just a lot of incredible art i adore basically!!!! every time i see one of their animations it makes me want to try my hand at animating too, tho i have a problem with any project that can’t be finished in one sitting lol. tho i’m working on that!!! another artists that tbh when i look at their stuff it makes ME wanna draw more and improve my art :D

5. gigiree - my friend!!!!!! gigi is an INCREDIBLE author that i’ve been so SUPER DUPER LUCKY to befriend through her fic, and we’ve known each other for years now. (which is WILD to think about omg) she’s super talented and super kind, and i love throwing around ideas with her and seeing her art and all the CRAZY stuff she does (her COLORS, the elaborate BACKGROUNDS, she ANIMATES)! gigi is one of those authors that inspires ME to write more and also work on my writing, and i’m so glad that we’re bros now omg. honestly just a person that brightens up your life! sometimes i read a line of her writing that just fuckin punches me in the gut and grabs my heart in a death grip because it just, effects you. god damn. she’s incredible! not to be gay, but i’m lucky to know her and ecstatic to be her friend :D

i think those are the main ones! there are a LOT of other authors, artists, and blogs i adore - twinanimatronics, maudiemoods, bones-of-a-rabbit, thebibliosphere, cultureandseptember - those are just a few! But these ones were the first to come to mind, off the top of my head, that i had a LOT to say about. and if i gush about ALL the incredible artists and authors on tumblr that i adore, we’ll be here for days. :D
