Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
Raj and Simran meet during a trip across Europe and end up getting stranded in the middle of nowhere after they miss their train. Despite their initial clashing, they fall in love. However, Simran’s traditional father has arranged her marriage elsewhere. Raj must win over Simran’s family to marry her, leading to a series of heartfelt moments, comedic misunderstandings, and ultimately, a dramatic climax where love conquers all as the couple fights for their happiness against societal norms.
Dick is so raj coded with his quips and charisma. Their chaotic banter and chemistry is off the charts. Any Indian who hasn’t watched this gets their desi card revoked immediately, I don’t make the rules. This movies fits Dick’s dramatic flair perfectly.

Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013)
The modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” set in rural Gujarat, India. It follows the love story of Ram, from the Rajadi clan and Leela, from the Sanera clan, who belong to rival gangster clans engaged in a long-standing feud. Despite the enmity between their families, Ram and Leela fall deeply in love, leading to a tragic and tumultuous journey filled with passion, violence, and sacrifice.
It fits Jason’s love for guns and classics. An absolute visual treat with cinematography and all the songs are absolute bangers.

In the end, they reunite, realizing they are meant to be together.
Grumpy x sunshine. The OG green flag. Epitome of ‘if he wanted to,he would’. Makes my chatterbox heart happy because of how much I relate to the FL. Favourite comfort movie of all time. ML kinda looks like Cillian Murphy’s scarecrow. “I like you a lot but that is my problem, you don’t need to worry about it.” Their fights and his little sassy comebacks and rants were so cute and fun to watch.

Jodhaa Akbar (2003)
The Mughal emperor Akbar, seeking to forge political alliances, marries Jodhaa, a Rajput princess. Initially a marriage of convenience, their relationship evolves as they learn to respect and love each other. Jodhaa struggles to adapt to Mughal customs, especially with their cultural and religious differences but her courage and integrity win Akbar's admiration. Despite conspiracies and opposition, including from Akbar's own court, their love prevails. The film explores the transformation of a young ruler, initially groomed for ruthlessness by his mentor Bairam Khan, into a wise and compassionate emperor who values mercy, diplomacy, religious harmony and cultural acceptance. Akbar's realization of the importance of religious tolerance, showcased through his abolition of discriminatory policies and his respect for all faiths.
The arranged marriage tag and the ‘raised as a weapon but softens and shows more compassion out of respect and love for his empress’ tag fits demonhead!Damian so much. The way he said mashallah after he pulled off her veil in the middle of a sword fight >>>>. I love how it captures the essence of India’s rich heritage and diversity. “Why seek paradise ? It is before me now.”

Khoobsurat (2014)
Milli, a free-spirited and eccentric young woman becomes the physiotherapist for a royal family. She brings her lively yet clumsy personality into the conservative royal household, shaking up their structured lives. It clashes with the formal atmosphere of the palace, especially with the stern matriarch, Nirmala Devi. Despite initial resistance, Milli's unconventional methods bring joy and laughter into the lives of the family members, including the brooding prince, Vikram. As Milli navigates the challenges of fitting into the royal household, she also finds herself falling in love with Vikram, leading to a series of comedic and heartwarming moments.
Very cliched (well it is a Disney film) and the second hand embarrassment is unreal but sometimes after a long day all you need is a feel-good cheesy rom-com. Oh to sit next to Fawad Khan in a red convertible while gazing lovingly at him. I like how she emphasises on improving the patient’s mental health to help him heal. Incase you haven’t noticed already, cold brooding™️ x silly goose is my favourite character dynamic.
𝐀/𝐍 - I’ll be honest with y’all, this was to satiate my desire of writing x desi! reader cuz I don’t have enough motivation or time to do it T^T

The morning is sweet as ever, the hush and rush of the travellers echo in the city, reaching past the window of your room too as you dress and pretty up in front of your closet mirror. The smell of your mother’s freshly baked bread lingers in the air, spreading throughout the house alongside the sound of butter sizzling on the pan.
It is the first time in 18 years, a stranger has walked into the land of my dreams. A voice knocks against the surface of your eardrums as it recites a poem, the words smoothly trailing down her tongue. Your mother enters your room, with a familiar looking diary in her hand. Wait- it's your diary. “Where did you get this?” you say, snatching away the diary from the grasp of her fingers.
“Gosh- I was reading such beautiful poetry. You ruined the fun.” your mother says calmly, taking a seat on the edge of your bed.
“This is mine, and only I have the right to read it.” you say, flipping through the pages, checking if anything is missing from the diary.
“You know they say, when a girl grows up, her mother becomes a friend. So, think I am your friend and recite the poem to me. I'm so excited to hear the rest of it.” your mother says eagerly, and you decide to narrate the poem to her.
“It is the first time in 18 years, a stranger has walked into the land of my dreams. It has veiled my eyes, as someone knocks on the door of my heart. His deep brown eyes make me question myself, as the lines of fate merge into a picture. His velvet breath flushes against my cheeks as they leave behind his scent etched onto my skin. Yes, It is the first time in 18 years, a stranger has walked into the land of my dreams.”
“Oh my, when can I meet this prince of your dreams?”
“No, mom. I’ve never met him. He appears in my dreams as if we’re destined to meet each other in the future.”
Convincing your parents had been the hardest part of the day besides dealing with your mom’s random questions about the man of your dreams. The trip with your friends to picturesque locations across the continent of europe has been your dream; an attempt to see the world, which came true.
You increase the speed of your legs, running towards the train starting to leave the platform but a young boy generous enough helps you, lending his hand forward for you to hold onto as you climb up into the train. You gasp, gathering your shattering breath as you stand inside the moving train, making a mental note of thanking the stranger. The move he pulled off from missing your train had been extremely romantic as if he is your beloved lover, waiting for you to escape the town together.
“Thankyou.” you thank him, gathering the clothes falling from your suitcase. You failed to acknowledge that its lock had flipped open as you got onto the train.
“It’s okay.” he mumbles under his breath, looking out the window. He had a bag slung across his shoulders with a mandolin in it. The black leather on top of the all-black outfit was a bit sketchy, but it brought his best features. What if he turns out to be a mafia heir? “Have we met before? I feel like I've seen you at Rocky's party.” the boy turns around, sitting beside you as he helps you stuff the remaining clothes in the bag. His face inches closer, his dark brown eyes searching for something in yours. You get lost in their warmth, leaning in as if you’re naturally drawn to him.
In the short distance between you two, you hear the loud thumping of your speeding heart as your eyes scan the delicate features of his face. His eyes are soft brown orbs that look at you pleadingly as if his heart belongs to you. Slick with jel, his raven colored locks fall over them, tempting you to reach out and tuck them behind his ear. The soft supple skin of cheeks cascade into a sharp jawline, an attractive feature of his charming face. His eyebrows arch, as his hot breath brushes against your lips.
“y/n, you’re here.” your friend interrupts the moment as she walks in and glances between you two.
“Oh hey!” you reply back, and drag her back to her seat leaving behind the confused boy.
The trip has brought along many surprises and memorable events with it, tempting you to do stuff you have sworn to not even think about in the past. Missing the train to Zurich and getting separated from your friends with a stranger you met 2 days ago wasn’t even on the list. Yet here you are stuck with him, as he refuses to leave you in peace.
“So, the next train leaves at 8pm. Do you prefer a romantic car ride across the mountains or a boring bus ride, senorita?” Seonghwa says, slinging his bag on his shoulders as he checks out the brochure in his hands.
“Get away from me. If it wasn’t for your stupid argument, we would have been with our friends now.” you huff, turning around and walking away from him.
But the few days you spent together, just brought you closer. You had missed your train again in Zurich, leading you both to spend a week with each other in the European countryside. “You didn’t give me your address, hwa. I have to send you my wedding invitation.”
“I’m sorry, y/n. I can’t come.” Seonghwa says, his voice breaking. The 5 weeks you spent with him were enough to fall for the young boy whom you had mistaken for a playboy. Infact, he is the sweetest man you’ve met, sweet enough to help you from getting lost in the foriegn land. You both share a moment of silence before parting ways.
“See you soon!” Does he harbour the same feelings you do? The soft and tender gaze can be misleading but the little confession on the last day of your trip had struck the chord of your heart. Did he really mean it? Did he really like you? Was the news of you being married away to a complete stranger affected him?
You’ll never know and your questions will remain unanswered, but you hold onto the flickering candle of hope that he accompanies on the boat named love.
