Welcome back to another blog post, my name is Brayden, and today we are going to be talking about kimonos, jumpsuits, flare jeans, and other Fashion statements of the 1970s.

So first off let’s just go ahead and talk about the style and anesthetic people went for. In this time period, I feel like most people went for tight under layers and loose over layers. This meaning the jumpsuits and jeans were tight to the body and then flare out at the knee region; but then for those who wanted a little extra something something, this is when the kimonos came into play.

Kimonos were these robes like lace scarves that you would wear over your shoulders to add a bit more dimension to your outfit. When looking at these specific items there are a few pieces that are making a comeback now in 2021. Those being, jumpsuits, but with more of a loose fit; and jeans with the flared bottoms. Kimonos haven’t really made a statement since the 70s and what people use nowadays isn’t more of a cardigan. Same principle, just different luck when it comes to the outfit selected.

Another huge accessory that was around in this time period was definitely headbands. Along with that one of the biggest staples of the 70s fashion was tie-dyed anything. From shirts to socks to headbands anything that could be tie-dyed was. Vertical stripes were also very popular option. This era was all about patterns and colors, so if you really want to embody someone who lived during this time, where vertical striped jeans that are different colors and a tie-dyed shirt with a kimono overtop.

And last but not least, you can forget to carry around a guitar and strum random cords, as well as a pair of aviator sunglasses. Inspo to follow. Sorry about posting all in one day, playing catch up, if you guys like my thoughts ill start posting regularly on Tuesdays and Fridays.
