I know you said this so long ago but I NEED to hear more about Logan with chronic pain PLEASE-

you're in luck because i actually never shut up about this. IDs in alt text for all of these!

the most obvious example i know of is from Uncanny X-Men (1963) #388. rogue's powers are overloaded and she accidentally absorbs more of logan than she meant to - she doesn't just get the healing factor and the claws, but the pain too.

both physically and mentally she's in absolute agony. and remember that she's only absorbed logan's mutation, not his adamantium skeleton! so if the healing factor is constantly trying to heal around his natural claws, imagine how it feels to have a whole artificial skeleton in its way.

if you know me you know that i consider Weapon X (1993) to be the definitive wolverine story. BWS does a lot to establish things about logan through scenic shots and bits of detail that go unmentioned in the narration and dialogue - for example this panel, which neatly sums up pretty much everything you can make out from his disciplinary report on the previous page (alcoholic, self-destructive, morbidly preoccupied with the "mutant scandal") with the addition of showing some loose pills in amongst his other more well-established self-medication methods.

you can argue that it's difficult to distinguish his physical from his mental pain in this story and i would agree. but he has both and both are chronic. this next one isn't strictly relevant but i like to point it out: logan's berserker "rage" isn't anything to do with anger. it's to do with pain.

a recurring motif in the 'Drowning Logan' arc in Wolverine (2013) was "He's used to pain." this is the story in which he loses his healing factor, but he doesn't realise until the action is well and over because he's so used to pain that he doesn't notice anything is wrong until he sees he's still bleeding.

an even more recent example! this one didn't exist when i made the comment the prompted this ask. it's from Wolverine (2020) #29, from the 'Beast Agenda' arc.

on the next page: "And now I'm coming back because the pain is coming back."

i'm sure there are lots more examples of this! these are just the ones i've made a note of for chronic pain in particular - i also think the arcs where he's got a reduced/absent healing factor are very interesting for showing his relationship to pain, particularly his first meeting with Jubilee, Fatal Attractions and its fallout, etc.

sukuna can repel poison and uses reverse cursed energy, it was revealed in junpei's arc.

Good point, but from what I understand Sukuna can heal when poisoned bc it doesn't work against him in the first place. Poison is one of his dominions as the King of Curses. Imo, him being able to heal with RCT when poisoned bc poison is ineffective against him to begin with is different than him being able to intricately use RCT to dispel poison.

like, just imagine being out on a ride with the rest of the boys and they stop by a bodega for snacks or smthn idk (johnny definitely needs to piss) and you notice the way simon’s shoulders are shaking in a silent laughter while the rest of the squad is turned towards the two of you, watching with rapt interest.

you flip your visor up. “what’s goin’ on?” you ask

simon heaves a deep sigh, calming himself down, before patting your knee and getting off the bike. he flicks the kill-switch and kicks at the side stand to keep the bike from tilting.

he doesn’t help you get off so you wonder if it’s just a quick stop, but then johnny hollers, “y’r not allowed to come in, lass!”

“what?”

simon turns to you with his visor up, his lips pursed in that boyish smile. “take care of the kids, yeah?”

he bends down just enough to bump his helmet on yours – a kiss, that you know – before walking to the bodega, flanked by the rest of the group.

what fucking kids-

the bikes?

you’re still frozen on his bike, watching as the group splits up – john heads towards the fridges, johnny asks the worker for a key for the washroom, kyle disappears between the shelved snacks, and simon stands by the window that is empty of pasted posters so he can stare back at you from inside the shop.

you shoot him a glare, one that you know he won’t even see because of the distance between you two.

simon gives you a small wave.

it isn’t until later when you’re pinching his thighs that he finally tells you what that was all about. he points to the “no backpacks allowed” sign and looks at you with a quirked brow.

“ohh!” you say as the realization dawns on you. simon huffs a laugh while johnny swats the back of your helmet lightly.

“took y’long enough, din’cha?”

you punch johnny’s shoulder in retaliation. “shut up, man.”

“yeah, man,” simon pipes up, trying, and failing, to tamp down his thick accent to mimic your intonation. “shut up- jesus, lovie. stop pinching me- ow!”

johnny snickers as he runs back to his bike.

Noticed that you mentioned unwhitewashing Laura & I was curious what that's about? I wasn't aware that Laura was a poc? Just curious!

hey! the first x-men property Laura ever appeared in was X-Men Evolution (season 3's "X23" and season 4's "Target X"), written by the same guys who would go on to write her origin story for the comics with X-23 (2005) and X-23: Target X, Craig Kyle and Chris Yost.

the character Deborah Risman was later replaced by Sarah Kinney but fills the same role in the story, and is also a woman of colour. so, assuming that Kyle always intended for some of Laura's genetic material to come from her "creator" (in this case Deborah), it makes sense that Laura is darker-skinned than Logan.

this was swiftly forgotten about when it came time to do the comic origin story and every laura comic since.

EDIT: @pleasantemperorpenguin pointed out that Laura is actually made paler in NYX in her first comic appearance, not X-23 (2005), and Kyle says he didn't have input into that (though he does endorse it). i was using X-23 (2005) to demonstrate the whitewashing of Sarah/Deborah (whose first appearance is in X-23) in tandem with Laura!

Do you think gojo and utahime like each other? what’s your opinion on the ship? He likes to tease utahime, and some people tease the person that they like. So maybe he likes her. Or maybe he just likes to tease people

He likes to tease her, but I see that more as just who he is as a person (he teases several other characters as well) than an indicator that he likes Utahime. To me it seems like Utahime finds him annoying and doesn't like him; she works with him when she has to in order to protect her students. I really like Shoko with Utahime, actually (and regardless of whether you see it as romantic, their scenes together in the manga show that Utahime is really close with her in a way she isn't with Gojo). I don't have a problem with Gojohime or people who ship it, I just don't find it interesting or plausible, personally.

Soap's hands hover between them for a second until Ghost gives another nod, and then they’re right back on Ghost's face, warm despite the freezing cold, thumbs dragging against his skin, calloused and rough, tracing his cheekbones, then the bridge of his nose, all the way down to his lips. Ghost feels himself shake apart beneath them, entirely silent, entirely still, his heartbeat ricocheting around the tiny cabin of the car as if it was trying to kill him. It's too much and not enough, he wants to flinch from the touch and bury in it, wants to run run run away from this feeling spreading in his chest, this thing he's known for weeks can not possibly be anger, can’t possibly be suspicion, can’t even be fear. He wants to never leave this car, never move an inch from this seat, never ever be without Soap's hands on his face again. "Simon," Soap says, "Simon," like it's a prayer, Simon like it's a mantra, Simon like he's standing in front of the mirror chanting bloody mary to make him appear, to summon him here into this moment alive and real, Simon, Simon, Simon. And he wonders then – as he realizes he’s crying, silent tears running down his cheeks, staining Soap’s fingers like blood – if this is what devout men feel like, kneeling at the altar, praying to their god and being heard, if they're this relieved to be seen, this terrified to be perceived.
