Into The Further: Insidious: The Red Door Review
Tumblr media
Pictured above is the Insidious: The Red Door poster.

So, I was unsure whether to post this review this quickly, but after some decision making, I decided to write this review. This was also my first time seeing an Insidious movie in theaters but that won’t affect my review as I want to be unbiased and straight to the point, with that being said, let’s get straight to this spoiler free review of “Insidious: The Red Door”.
Insidious: The Red Door is a 2023 supernatural horror film directed by Patrick Wilson (who also stars in this movie, and this was his directorial debut), This movie was produced by James Wan and Jason Blum, the movies screenplay was written by Leigh Whannell and Scott Teems, the cast involves Patrick Wilson as Josh Lambert, Rose Byrne as Renai Lambert, Ty Simpkins as Dalton Lambert, Sinclair Daniel as Chris Winslow, Hiam Ambbass as Professor Armagan, Andrew Astor as Foster Lambert, Juliana Davies as Kali Lambert, Steve Coulter as Carl, Peter Dager as Nick the Dick, Justin Sturgis as Alec Anderson, Joseph Bishara as the Lipstick-Face Demon, Leigh Whannell as Specs, Angus Sampson as Tucker, and Lin Shaye as Elsie Rainier.
The Plot:
Josh Lambert heads east to drop his son, Dalton, off at school. However, Dalton’s college dream soon becomes a living nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.
Positives:
One positive I have about this movie was the tone of the movie as it had a tone of finality for *THIS* chapter of the Insidious franchise. I enjoyed how dark this movie got for a PG-13 horror movie as it didn’t hold back on the scares…with that being said that also is a drawback which we will get to later. The demons were terrifying, I audibly said “Nope.” when one of them appeared.

Pictured above are 2 of the many demons the Lambert family faced in this movie.

The second positive I have about this movie were the performances especially Patrick Wilson and Ty Simpkins as father and son duo Josh Lambert and Dalton Lambert as they struggle to confront the demons of their past and present and it makes you root for them. Each cast member did a decent to great job in their roles. The demon performances were unsettling in a way that will make you feel a sense of disgust and discomfort. The third positive I have was the use of The Further and how terrifying it can get.

Negatives:
One negative I have was the overreliance on jumpscares, I felt like if you want to terrify your audience, throw in a couple jumpscares, not 5-7, I loved the background scares this movie had and the payoffs to said background scares. But the jumpscares seemed a bit excessive. Maybe, I’m being a bit harsh on the jumpscare element of the movie.
The second negative I have was the pacing as some parts of the movie seemed to drag in the beginning, however that is just a knit pick. But overtime the movie picks up which is fantastic.
My overall thoughts:
While I didn’t love this movie, I enjoyed it, however, don’t let these negatives and positives affect your viewing experience of Insidious: The Red Door as I recommend checking it out whenever you get the chance to do so. Check it out in theaters, streaming, and physical media (when it comes out). At least it made $32.6 million at the box office in its opening weekend which is fantastic for horror. Okay, I know it seemed like I was ripping into this movie, but I mean it when I say go check it out whenever you get the chance.
Where to watch Insidious: The Red Door?
Insidious: The Red Door can currently be watched in theaters.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The series ended on Januwith a total of 20 episodes in two seasons. Most episodes of the show were rated TV-MA (akin to the R rating of the movie itself) for bloody, stylized violence, strong sexual references (including nudity, references to prostitution, and depictions of sex acts), profanity and humor derived from racism and discrimination. This animated blaxploitation action comedy-spoof follows ex-C.I.A. There is no place like KissAnime with free anime online so I uploaded this full anime here, now each person can watch this anime from here for free.Black Dynamite further chronicles the exploits of the central character, Black Dynamite and his motley crew. You do not have to fall in love with a action & adventure to enjoy this anime. My favorite anime of this director, and that’s saying something! This anime online seriously is incredible. Everytime I watch this anime online, I really enjoy the music, it is just pure soul of that anime. The anime is openly dreamlike, and like most dreams it moves uncertainly down a path with many turnings. action & adventurecategory did not create a better anime and you can now watch for free on this website. Strike the Blood is one of the biggest surprises of the year 2013. Forced together by circumstance, the two form an unlikely alliance as Kojou comes to terms with his abilities and they both struggle to protect the city from various emerging chaotic forces. Fearing Kojou’s destructive potential, the Lion King Organization sends in an apprentice sword-shaman, Yukina Himeragi, to monitor, and should he become a threat, kill the boy deemed the world’s most powerful vampire. It isn’t long before he is thrust into the center of attention when it is discovered that he is the fourth primogenitor, an immensely powerful vampire whom most consider to be merely a legend.

I’ve often half joked that I was born on the wrong coast. I’ve said that for various reasons. At times, it has been because I wanted to surf, other times it’s those fabled bushy bushy blonde hair-dos Brian Wilson and his brothers Carl & Dennis used to sing about.
I have an infatuation with the Hollywood Hills and Mulholland Drive, though the latter would have likely brought an end to 16 year old Kevin, because I would have tested her that is for sure.
Another major reason was Los Angeles Dodgers, my first sports love. I remember hating Reggie Jackson and the Yankees as they ended the season in ‘77 and ‘78 and then being overjoyed that the Dodgers were able to kick their ass in ‘81. It wouldn’t have been as sweet if it would have come against another American League team. Just being honest. Those three years, I was 5, 6 and 9 respectively, but it was when I was 11-14 or so when I really got introduced to the Dodgers. My dad had purchased one of those big ugly backyard satellite dishes, and every chance I got, was moving it around to catch the Dodgers broadcast.
Vin Scully was a wordsmith. He was a poet. Words simply flowed out of him. That paired with his memory and story-telling ability, he was golden. I’ve said I’d listen to him read a phone book. Just a magical presence. I remember pulling the lazyboy in front of the tv and kicking back and watching and listening. Sometimes I’d wake up about 4:00 am and make it up stairs to bed, other times my dad would wake me up when he was making coffee the next morning.
That lasted a couple of years, and then they started to scramble the signals as they required more of a package to get to watch a lot of the things the dish had to offer, and it was back to seeing them when I could.
I would have loved to have had the ability to go to numerous games at Dodger Stadium with a walkman inside to listen to the great Vin Scully as the game played out in front of me.  He passed away last night and the news broke during the Dodgers/Giants game which was fitting. I had turned the game on and not realized the shocking news until Joe Davis was telling a story and signed off the inning with something like “remembering Vin Scully”, and his photo and dates of birth/death were on the screen and it simply shocked me.
I turned to twitter, made a post, and simply watched others that knew him far better than I did reminisce and I’m not necessarily talking about the former players like a Steve Garvey, or others that really knew him. I’m talking about Dodgers fans that spent night after night, day after day with him, hearing his magical delivery. He’s one of a few, a very select few in the world of sports that not many, again very few would have a negative word said about them. In sports, that is extremely rare.
I will say that the job Joe Davis and Jessica Mendoza did last night was phenomenal. They, shared stories and memories and would touch on the game as the ball demanded it. They were thrown one helluva  curve ball in the middle of that game with the news breaking, but they handled it a lot like the man they were waxing poetically about. The Dodgers booth is in good hands.
Today I read an article that came out a few years ago after he retired and Jerry Reuss, the colorful lefty from my childhood talked about once when he was there as a visitor, that there was only around 20k in the stands and that there were so many transistor radios on that he could hear Scully telling a story from the hump. He said he stepped off the rubber, grabbed the rosin, bought him a bit of time and heard a laugh from the crowd when Scully got the point he was trying to make out, stepped back on the rubber and it was “Reuss with the delivery”... He also said something along the lines that Vin deserved that respect. This was before he even pitched as a Dodger.
Yes, I was born on the wrong coast. No doubt about it.  I can’t really regret it because I can’t do a damn thing about it, but I can sure as hell miss it.
RIP Vin Scully, you were the best to ever do it and there will never be another remotely close. I’m sure he’s already had to talk about Don Drysdale knocking Hank Aaron or Mickey Mantle out of the box from his first of many more games.

la lune
Movie/Game/Show: Marvel Dynamic: Steve Rogers/Reader (Platonic) Warnings: steve’s endgame ending, daddy issues ig?, i describe you as having a mom :) Summary: He promised to keep the moon for you. He also promised to stay. Word Count: 1.1 K ~~~
Steve enjoyed telling stories of his dearest friends when there were lulls of silence in the house. He liked talking about how Bucky was adjusting in Wakanda or how Sam was rising as a hero or the way Natasha was able to take out five guards before he’d even gotten through the door on a mission. He liked turning to his wife while making dinner and updating her on Wanda and Vision. He liked turning to you and asking if you were sure that you didn’t want to meet the fabled Ant-Man, because he was in town, you know - and he has a daughter, too, you know.
He liked having friends and involving his little family on the circle. He liked that he found a woman willing to let the man out of time be a father. He enjoyed being a step-father just as he always pictured enjoying being a biological father.
And you knew that. You’d been told that. You’d heard it again and again. You knew that Steve loved your mother. You knew that Steve loved you.
So why did he leave you both?
Why would he leave?
For who? Peggy Carter?
A woman he kissed once compared to the woman he’d woken up next to and said he loved for years and yet he chose the former.
You remember asking him that day. After Sam took the shield with shaky hands and Bucky was leading your poor mother away to the side. You remember asking him,
“Did you have another kid?”
It was so selfish. But you needed to know. With a frown on your lips and waterline beginning to moisten. You asked again,
“Did you and that jackass from the 40s have a fucking kid?”
He shook his head, patting the spot on the log beside him, an offer that you deny. Steve looked to his loafers before simply shaking his head again.
You jammed your hands in your pockets and kicked at some dirt.
“My mom trusted you. You made us think you were staying with us. That we were your family but you- you…”
There’s the sound of a clang and you look over, Sam had plopped a wooden cutting board onto the counter before moving to the sink to wash vegetables while you simmer broth. Over summers, your mother’s taken to letting you stay and work with the Wilsons (and by proxy, now Bucky as well). You can see Sam take glances at you out of your peripherals.
“What?”
“You feeling okay?” his voice is quiet despite knowing that Sarah, Bucky, and the boys are all out back, “You’ve seemed out of it for awhile.”
You nod, “‘m fine.”
Sam sighs, “You know I don’t buy that. And if I did, I’d be returning it.”
You chuckle before shaking your head and pursing your lips, “Just fuckin’... sucks. I hate him.”
He doesn’t bother telling you that you don’t. He doesn’t bother trying to get you to push those feelings down and smile for the sake of him, or Bucky, or your mother. He nods to your words and goes on to agree.
“I can’t imagine what you and your mom are going through. I can’t relate but I want you to know I’m here,” Sam dries the carrots as he speaks, “That’s why I like having you here. If you feel like you can’t talk to your mom, I’m always listening.”
“Thanks, Sam,” it’s dry and less than he deserves but it’s the most that your voice, thickened with emotion, can offer.
There’s silence like molasses as Sam moves on to washing potatoes and celery. You continue watching the broth. Stirring when the stillness grows uncomfortable.
“Steve once told me that any story someone tells you in the kitchen is a good one. Said he heard that from you.”
“I did tell him that,” Sam murmurs, “Why bring it up?” it’s gentle questioning but you can tell he wants the bottom line, “Got a story?”
“I’ve just… I don’t know - been thinking a lot.”
“About what?”
You tilt your head to the side slightly, “I had a favorite book when I was little. Called Papa Please Get the Moon For Me by Eric Carle - it was just sorta about this guy who steals the moon because his kid asks him to. It was like my favorite book, even though I didn’t really have a dad to even relate it to…” you stir the contents of the pot as Sam chops carrots, “One day the dog had gotten ahold of it and tore it to shit. I cried, honestly. I could’ve gotten a new one but… I didn’t,” you purse your lips, “My birthday came around and when all the distant family left and Mom was cleaning up, he gave me a present- “
“New copy of your book?”
“Nah,” you shake your head and a smile almost reaches your lips before being smothered down by the knowledge of how he’d left, “it was uh, a model of the moon. He helped me hang it up.”
Sam pauses his cutting to turn and look at you, brows drawn tight in worry.
“He got me the moon,” you bite your lip, staring down into the dark brown broth, “Best he could anyway… but he- he got me the moon…”
“I’m so sorry,” Sam refrains from reaching out, he doesn’t want to scare you out of sharing, “You didn’t deserve that. He shouldn’t have left.”
“I think the worst thing is that I don’t know if I can take it down,” your lip wobbles as the sorrow tucked inside your heart begins beating at you, “I miss him. A lot.”
You turn and Sam carefully takes you into a hug, whispering as he holds you, “It’s okay to miss him. It’s okay.”
You can feel your grip tighten on Sam’s shirt as a sob cracks a final wreck on your throat. Burrowing your face into the man’s shirt, you shake your head and cry, “He was supposed to take care of us, Sam. I thought he loved us… I really thought we would be okay…”
There’s one question that’s lined underneath your broken sobs.
Why?
Why would he leave like that? For a woman he hadn’t seen in years. For a family with no child like you - no child at all. For Peggy Carter and Peggy Carter alone.
It was so, so selfish. Truly. But you wanted the moon and when your father gave it to you, you assumed it was for good.
Then, he took it back. Ripped it out of your sky and threw it to the endless abyss of the inked blotches of nighttime. Your father took the moon for Peggy Carter.
He took the moon for Peggy Carter.
