Mini-review:

I'm not gonna lie, there are few musical movies I haven't enjoyed, so I knew I was going to like this from the beginning, more so considering I used to love the first Matilda movie as a child. This one is well made and it really captures everything that makes this story special. It also changes up just the right amount of things, so it still holds some surprises for people who are familiar with the older movie or the book. It's clear that Matthew Warchus knows how to make a crowd-pleasing movie (if you haven't watched Pride (2014), then you should do so now) and his skills are on show here from the very first scene. The entire cast clearly had a blast making it, too, and it's overall a very fun watch.

Alright so I watched the Matt Walsh documentary, it's pretty good in one way, in that it surfaces and collects many of the insane things that we all have observed over the past few years. But even though he speaks frankly about it, he cannot help but sanitize the worst parts

One of the main ways transexuality has been able to spread through the internet and the world is that if you talk about it plainly, it's so vile and deranged that *you* end up looking like the weirdo. Call it the Trunchbull Strategy

Funny enough, Salon published an article all the way back in 2013 about how the character of the Trunchbull is transphobic. They knew it even before we did, mostly. Revelation of the method?

Anyway Walsh's documentary is a decent summary for the normie, and I can only appreciate his dorky sense of humor, as for example when he asks his wife what a woman is, and she defines a woman as an adult human female who needs help opening a jar of pickles

Or, more tellingly, when throws a folding chair at a cork board and sedately announces that he is "done asking questions." The problem is that behind this church potluck snark is a wry admission that no one on the right is equipped to do much more than ask questions

You can read these various books such as The Transgender Industrial Complex or watch a Matt Walsh documentary, you can retweet libs of tiktok all day, but the fact is that none of us will ever stop this by talking about it

Obergefell was not so much a blank check to these people as a capstone on the realization that they could do anything and everything they wanted, push any degeneracy on the whole world, and get away with it, no one would lift a finger to stop them

The law, the internet, the schools, the medical profession, all of it is lousy, from top to bottom, with people who are at minimum complicit, but on average enthusiastic about each new frontier of sexual "emancipation" — and talking and lobbying are not the solution

Until Matt Walsh and every single person in his audience is willing to stop asking questions, but this time without the affected millennial insouciance, nothing is going to change.

In the vein of your other AU's where another child protagonist joins the Animorphs (Huge fan of the Dicey Tillerman one), how would Matilda fare as a member of the Animorphs?

To be honest I'm stumped by this one, because Matilda's such a delightful misanthrope and none of the Animorphs read for fun, so I don't know they'd be friends. Anyone else have ideas?
