I was starring in a play version of Matilda as the dad but when it was my time to show up on the stage, I couldn't find my hat and I panicked so much I woke up.
Before this I burned the stage down to make it more "movie accurate".

There is something so profound to the Matilda lyrics "you were just holding my hand, you were just there for me" because it implies that it's still my own responsibility to change my story, but it's so so so so important to have someone/some people to stand by you and JUST be there for you while you rewrite it.

I just listened to the Matilda soundtrack for the 84th time and I came up with an idea. And of course it's related to TF2.
The song "My House" but it's scout singing about how he feels at home at base even if the space he's living in isn't really ideal. And spy secretly listening only to blow his own cover by singing the dad's parts.
The song just reminded me of them SO much.

The new Matilda movie (The Musical) it's amazing, it's not better than the original because even with the same story they are really different from each other, no one it's better, they are both equally good. In here, even when I wanted to say "oh, the original made it better" the movie made something new and great that I wasn't expecting (I'm not talking about the book, yes I did read it, no I don't remember it, it was years ago.
The only thing that I didn't like was Matilda and Ms. Honey's relationship. See, in the Devito's movie Ms. Honey was really worried about Matilda, she went to her house to talk with her parents, but when she saw what type of people they were she started to take care of the child herself, and that was why Matilda trusted in her that much to show her her powers. In this movie not only Matilda spend more time with the librarian than Ms. Honey, but the librarian was the only character that actually suspected that Matilda had abusive parents and tried to talk with her, also, she was all "OMG Matilda you are so bright, your mother had to be really proud of having such an amazing daughter" which made me think that she was the one who would adopt her at the end (and merry Ms. Honey so the original ending would stay but shhhh), but Ms. Honey being her mother ending felt so... Weird? Their relationship never felt any more than "Teacher-Gifted Student" to me, maybe "Two victims finding comfort in relate to each other" but never a "Mother-Daugther" type.

Matilda
Matilda was the youngest. she couldn’t possibly know any hardships. After all, she suffered the least, right?
she knows nothing about pain or suffering. those dark thoughts she gets at night, she has no reason to get. after all, she’s had it the easiest. right?
she knows nothing about hard work. not as much as her older sister does.
what could she possibly be depressed about? She’s had it the easiest.
she has no reason to complain. Matilda was wrong in every argument and everyone else was right.
she should be grateful, the only emotion she’s allowed to feel.
so when Matilda hurts herself and carves the invisible pain onto her skin, no one understands why.
afterall, she’s suffered the least. She’s the youngest. She’s a baby.
so Matilda has no reason to feel anything but gratitude. She would be selfish to think otherwise.
right?

Matilda is a pretty good movie, not just cause it's fun and there's magic and fighting back against abuse, but also because it shows someone absolutely obsessed with libraries and books. libraries deserve that praise
(I'm sure the book does to but I haven't read it, do tell me)
edit: yes the book does too. woo

I’ve read the Matilda book, I’ve watched the Matilda movie, I’ve watched the Matilda musical and I’ve watched the Matilda musical movie. I am so obsessed with Matilda it’s not even funny anymore. I love how different each interpretation is for each one as well it’s fucking fantastic
Did you know that the Matilda musical movie is the only iteration where Matilda is an only child? Did you know that in the Matilda musical the people who try to catch Mr. Wormwood for selling bad cars is the Russian mafia? Did you know that that god awful parrot is only in the book??
This is my one niche thing and I am fuck ass insane about it.
