Doodledex - #895 Regidrago
Let’s be honest, if you told someone from before the release of the DLC that there would be a couple of new Regis in an upcoming generation, then asked them to guess what types they were, Dragon would probably be their last guess. After all, it would be kind of awkward to make something that looked like the last ones also look kind of dragon-y, right?
Well, according to legend, the way Regidrago looks was not Regigigas’ intention! Apparently it was trying to make a full dragon out of “crystalized dragon energy”, but it had run out after completing the head and core, leaving this as the “finished” project! The people who built the Split-Decision Ruins seemed to believe this story, because they wound up sealing it away out of fear of what would happen if Regigigas ever actually finished its old WIP project...

how i caught entei in leafgreen in the most ridiculous way possible
SO last week i started a pokemon leafgreen file on my childhood cart i've had since my 5th birthday, and one my goals ended up being getting every owned dex entry possible in JUST the one copy of leafgreen without connecting to any other game… and i did. except i forgot one. ENTEI!!
Tumblr media
like probably a lot of you reading this i COMPLETELY forgot that one of the johto roaming beasts is in every copy of FRLG. i never even caught any of them as a kid. which roamer you get is based on your starter (squirtle = raikou, bulbasaur = entei, charmander = suicune) and i happened to pick bulbasaur so my roamer was entei. it does actually ROAM in kanto, aka whenever you change locations, the pokemon moves to a new route. obviously this is a pain in the ass, but it gets even more painful because roamers can flee from the battle and they will the instant you encounter them. you get the chance to throw one ball or use one move and that's it… so like in most pokemon games, you would use a trapping move like mean look to keep the roamer in the battle and turn it into a normal legendary encounter, right? HAHA WRONG
raikou and entei are affected by the ROAMER ROAR BUG in FRLG, which means if they use roar to escape the battle (yes, even in mean look, it doesn't stop roar from working) they just disappear from the game. permanently. forever. you can never capture it. suicune is not affected by this because it doesn't have roar, but my roamer was entei, so uh. the odds were stacked against me. did i want to repetitively encounter the roamer over and over, never trapping it, just throwing one ball each time? or did i want to set up a mean look pokemon only to have to soft reset every time entei used roar? neither option sounded fun and i was going to just give up and master ball it despite REALLY wanting it in a luxury ball like all the other kanto legendaries i had already caught… UNTIL!
Tumblr media
i am a moderator of the ribbon master discord (a different pokemon challenge) and i was just sorta liveposting my thought process about this annoying roamer when gen 3 rng manipulation extraordinaire ddeeffgg crashes into the chat and suggests this fucking bonkers idea. and his bonkers idea is galaxy brain LET ME EXPLAIN
ariados is available in leafgreen's post game by catching spinarak in pattern bush, and of course electrode is a fairly common kanto pokemon. ariados gets access to spider web, which is basically just mean look with a different name (and i completely forgot it existed), it traps the opponent in the battle. but IMPORTANTLY, it ALSO gets access to BATON PASS… which, in gen 3, passes the trapping effect! usually if you were to use spider web and swap out ariados, the opponent would no longer be trapped, but baton pass solves that! and then electrode has the ability soundproof which prevents roar from working, and it even gets thunder wave (paralysis) and sonicboom (consistent 20 damage with no chance of accidental crits) to assist in easier capture of entei! nice!! awesome!! but getting this setup in order is the most ridiculous shit i've ever done in leafgreen
PROBLEM #1: ariados gets baton pass through egg move. in gen 3, egg moves are only passed down by the father and not the mother, so i had to grab a male ledyba, grind it to a high enough level to learn baton pass, then grab a female spinarak and breed them together. unfortunately this means my ariados would be level 1 and i'd have to train it up quite a bit, which leads into my next problem…
PROBLEM #2: ariados is SLOWWW. its base speed is a measly 40 compared to entei's whopping 100! ariados needs to outspeed entei to use spider web first turn so entei can't just run away! i would have to get ariados to a very high level to outspeed entei, grinding all the way from level 1. the one plus side is that the roamers in FRLG are bugged to always have a 0 IV in defense, special attack, special defense, and speed, which means unless entei has a +speed nature, its speed would always be a predictable and relatively low 105 at level 50, which is what it's encountered at. so i had to get an ariados with a speed of 106 or higher.
to get around both these problems as efficiently as possible, while breeding spinarak, i bred quite a few to get one with a +speed nature, and ended up with a jolly spinarak. everstone doesn't work in FRLG unfortunately, so the nature was completely random each time. soon my DAUGHTER WAS BORN after like 2-3 hours of breeding because FRLG eggs are SLOOOW and i was being stubborn about the nature, which i was getting unlucky on LOL
Tumblr media
then i maxed out her speed EVs real quick by fighting picnicker susie on route 13 over and over, who gives 12 speed EVs per battle, 24 with the macho brace, which i was using. this was just to make sure i would reach 106+ speed as fast as possible. then i grinded her levels by repetitively fighting the two trainers right outside the weird chansey dance guy's house in sevault canyon on seven island, right above tanoby ruins. using the vs seeker on them is the best grinding spot in the game since they give 20k experience per fighting both of them and there's a healing spot Right There. i was using exp share and leading with my level 100 jolteon named Egg who i adore with all my heart. ariados, now named koolaid, ended up crossing the speed threshold at level 62! yes this took a while lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as for electrode, i wanted one at as high of a level as possible so i hopefully wouldn't have to grind levels. i lucked out as electrode is found at a whopping level 64 in cerulean cave's bottom floor. a 5% encounter rate but as i had already caught numerous 5%s for the pokedex, i didn't really care. however it DOES have explosion and i'd rather not have the electrode explode on me before i could catch it which would then send me on a wild goose chase for ANOTHER 5% electrode… so i grabbed the random level 24 poliwhirl with the damp ability, which prevents explosion from working, out of my PC, and gave it a smoke ball from the celadon game corner so i could lead with her and easily run from each encounter that Wasn't Electrode.
Tumblr media
now you may be wondering how i was going to handle capturing electrode once i was actually in the battle because SURELY it would just use thunderbolt or something and instantly murder my poliwhirl. however funnily enough electrode only has two attacking moves at level 64, swift and explosion. explosion obviously doesn't work, and swift is a physical attack in gen 3 due to all normal type moves being physical, this was before the physical/special split in gen 4. electrode's physical attack stat is a garbage 50 and swift only has a base power of 60 so i honestly wasn't concerned. and best of all, poliwhirl gets the move hypnosis, so i could easily put electrode to sleep and start chucking ultra balls… and the smoke ball ended up being useless because i somehow ran into electrode first try what the fuck LOL
Tumblr media
anyways i named them gatorade to match with koolaid. truly the dream entei capturing team. i didn't even feel the need to grind any levels on gatorade, level 64 was more than enough, so i just slapped the two moves i wanted on them - thunder wave through the one-use tutor in silph co, and sonicboom through the move reminder on two island, costing me two tinymushrooms which i thankfully already had and did not have to go out of my way to grind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
however the hours worth of prep ISN'T DONE YET! because uhh…
PROBLEM #3: ariados has to be above entei's level to outspeed it (yes, even if it had a 31 IV in speed AND a speed boosting nature AND maximum speed EVs, it still wouldn't be enough at level 50), which means the repel trick can't be used to encounter it. tracking down the roamer is practically impossible without using repels to cancel out all other wild pokemon, and in gen 3, unlike later gens, you can't put a fainted pokemon in the front of the party for the repel trick instead. and if i DON'T lead with ariados, entei will run away when i try to swap into it. SO i decided i would have to run into entei once first through the repel trick method, which marks it as "seen" in the pokedex, and then i would track its location through the pokedex to encounter it while leading with ariados.
to accomplish this, i simply ran in and out of the building on route 16, going in and out of the grass in the process, which would constantly be randomizing entei's location until it happened to randomize onto route 16. i caught a staryu with illuminate as an ability to raise the chance of entei appearing, which does work while staryu is fainted (wouldn't want to go in and out of the grass while entei was on route 16 without encountering it!) and otherwise led with my level 50 magmar that was on my elite four team named Torch for the repel trick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i bought a whopping 100 max repels for this task but i ended up getting entei within just a few lol. torch was holding the smoke ball just to be able to run away safely without any shenanigans!
Tumblr media
and now entei was in the pokedex and able to be tracked that way!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
however, there was still ONE more problem...
PROBLEM #4: luxury balls are a pain in the ASS to get in this game! they can't be bought from any shop. the only way to repeatedly get luxury balls in FRLG is to show a pokemon to selphy, a rich girl who lives in resort gorgeous on five island.
i will mostly skim over this because it's boring, but TLDR i had to continuously talk to her, fly back to the pokemon center, get the pokemon she wanted to see out of the PC because the step limit is 250 before she gets sick of waiting which is like nothing (i already had a living dex of every mon obtainable in leafgreen otherwise so this wasn't hard), surf to her, then spam A through dialogue with her butler in which i had a 70% chance of receiving a luxury ball. i did this over 40 times until i had 30 luxury balls, and sold off all the nuggets and other items she gave me. good lord this took a while
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and now with ALL of that setup i was FINALLY ready to capture entei in a luxury ball. this took me literally all day and i was really excited. to consistently encounter entei, i saved in cerulean city and tracked it in the pokedex from there, opening it over and over after changing to any of the four routes connected to the city, and moving to an adjacent route from entei's location when it was close in the hopes of walking onto the same route it moved to when i did. i was following a map made by hangarofroam, he has a video tutorial on how to shiny hunt the FRLG roamers and encounter them as quickly as possible, and i highly recommend looking it up if you want to capture these roamers yourself, but tldr this is the map i was using:
Tumblr media
and once i encountered entei i was finally able to use the strategy i had prepped so long to do... and it worked without a hitch!! entei can't try to use roar first turn because it wastes a turn trying to flee, which is prevented by ariados outspeeding and using spider web... then if it tries to use roar the next turn, i've already switched into electrode to block it with soundproof. so from there it's just a matter of whittling down entei's HP to the red with swift/sonicboom and paralyzing it with thunder wave, then tossing luxury balls until success!
and i GOT IT after 3 encounter attempts and 73 luxury balls thrown. and FINALLY i have all 171 national dex entries possible in a single copy of leafgreen with no connection to other games, and all the legendaries are in fancy ass luxury balls. i am winning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was ridiculous. please be proud of my accomplishments. i've had this file for less than 2 weeks and i already have over 70 hours of gameplay in it after doing all this AAAAA
Tumblr media
also barely related but look at Egg my jolteon he had like no purpose in this story but i took a pic of him in front of entei before going on to capture entei because i love him so much pleas
Tumblr media
thanks for coming to my fucking ted talk i am SOOO normal about pokemonsdfjkfds (joke)

After finishing the Pokemon Type Challege I decided to add a third half lion pokemon to my Duo and make them a Trio.
CRYOSFINX [Cryo-Criosphinx] -Ice -The Frozen Horns Pokemon -Ability: Snow Cloack - Refrigerate(HA) -Dex: “It inhabits the very top of Kroel mountains where snow never melts. Its horns and wings are always frozen at sub zero temperatures, getting touched by them can cause instantaneous frostbite..“     -Megahorn     -Ice Fang     -Avalanche     -Noble Roar
MANTIQUORTZ [Manticore-Quartz] -Rock -The Rocky Stinger Pokemon -Ability: Strong Jaw - Rock Head(HA) -Dex: “It inhabits the lower rocky sides of the mountains, living inside the caves and tunnels. A powerful blow from is stinger can incapacitate any prey, but even at a distance it can shoot sharp shards from the tip, as strong and fast as a bullet.“     -Head Smash     -Crunch     -Rock Blast     -Stealth Rock
GAJASILICA [Gajasimha-Silicate] -Ground -The Sandy Tusk Pokemon -Ability: Sand Rush - Sand Force(HA) -Dex: “It inhabits the sandy dunes at the base of the mountain. It's body is always covered in sand, to the point where one cant tell where the sand ends and the pokemon begins. It has a gentle nature, but can become really violent when provoked. “     -Earth Power     -Scorching Sands     -Mud Bomb     -Sandstorm
This three pokemon are mortal enemies of each other, they keep themselves to their territories to avoid any conflict, but if they cross paths they will figh until only one remains standing.
While CRYOSFINX is based on the egyptian Criosphinx and MANTIQUORTZ is based on the persian Manticore, GJASILICA is based on the indian Gajasimha, a creature with the body of a lion and the head of an elephant

Yandere Houndoom(Pet-Like)
As someone who has a Houndoom as my fire and dark type in Brilliant Diamond right now (Her name is Hellena), I'll happily write for the hellhound :)
Overprotective! Houndoom Concept
Pairing: Platonic/Pet/Animal-like
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Clingy behavior, Violence, Overprotective behavior, Attempted murder, Possessive behavior, Arson, Jealousy implied, Despite the source material this is dark, like really dark.
Tumblr media
Houndooms would be quite terrifying of they were overprotective of a trainer.
Sure, you may think they'd be just loyal dogs.
Yes, but recall their Pokedex entries?
Most entries say essentially the same thing.
Houndoom has a fire that when someone is burned by it, the burn lasts forever.
This Pokemon is also often considered the "Grim Reaper" due to the howls it produces according to other dex entries.
So, no, Houndoom is not just some dog Pokemon.
I imagine you took one in as a Houndour, which makes the Pokemon extra attached to you.
That or maybe you managed to tackle the feat of catching one in the wild.
I'd imagine a wild Houndoom would take more time to get used to their trainer.
At first they reluctantly follow beside you when you let them out of their ball.
They listen in battle but there's no connection quite yet.
It's not until you stroke their fur, walk alongside them, and train them that they get attached.
Your Houndoom all of a sudden starts getting used to all this praise and warms up to you.
You often take them on a walk through routes and battle with trainers.
You try to train them well as you don't want an accident happening.
You are aware of the danger a Houndoom can cause outside of their ball,
One wrong move and the second a fire breath ignites from their mouth?
Chaos.
For the most part your Pokemon seems well behaved.
They adore you petting them and often wrap around you when resting.
I imagine if a Houndoom became overprotective of a trainer or human they adore they'd get violent.
First it's things like growling, barking, and roaring.
During walks you end up having your Houndoom jump in front of you and show aggressive behaviors.
Wild Pokemon quickly skitter away, which is useful at times but annoying at others.
Then you grow concerned when your Houndoom decides humans are also a threat to their precious trainer.
As a result you keep them in the ball more often.
The most dangerous part of a Houndoom is indeed their fire.
Their claws and teeth are quite bad, yes, but at least the pain subsides then.
Their fire? The pain is forever.
Think about this.
Maybe while you go to sleep at night your Houndoom breaks out of their ball.
Sometimes it's innocent and they curl up around you, wanting the warmth of their trainer.
Other times they leave your home... looking for what, exactly?
They're looking for Pokemon and humans that could have hurt you.
Houndoom is obviously a Fire type, yet they are also a Dark type.
Your Houndoom may not care about the chaos it causes.
As long as they keep their trainer safe they could care less how they do it.
During the night your Houndoom targets random wild Pokemon to get stronger and vent frustration before returning to you.
However, if they're feeling extra ambitious, maybe they target people.
Maybe your Houndoom decides to target your rival... or someone else close to you.
Maybe your Pokemon doesn't like the humans around you.
By the time you wake up in the morning you see it on the news.
A house caught on fire, the survivors having burns that never seem to go away.
They're disfigured and in so much pain.
The report strikes fear in you.
Sure, wild Pokemon sometimes end up attacking humans, it happens.
Yet it seems oddly targeted....
You knew these people.
You try to tell yourself things will be fine.
It's nothing, it's just a wild Pokemon attack.
But as you pack your things to leave your home, your eyes drift towards the ball containing your Houndoom.
You don't want to believe it, in fact you shut the thought out...
Part of you still manages to think your own Pokemon was behind the fire...
But that couldn't be true... could it?

Felidar (Monster)
Tumblr media
(Felidar Sovereign by Zoltan Boros)
(I'm posting for the time being! Expect two posts a week right now.
Magic the Gathering has a habit of creating types of beast to make their settings more fleshed out and fill out the mechanical slot of "generic large beast" in different places- felidar, krushok, cerodon, thoctar... all are creatures with a defined look and name. They're fun targets for monster creating, and I'm generally looking to make these Magical Beasts to keep it interesting. I started with Felidar because, well, I love big cats. As with all my creatures, I tried to give them a fun plot hook.)
CR6 NG Large Magical Beast
Felidar are large catlike predators typically found in mountainous regions, where they use their powerful roars and expert climbing skills to hunt down and kill prey. Felidar are more intelligent than an animal, though not by much- they have no true language, and prefer to live in simple family units or just hunt alone. Perhaps their most intelligent aspect is their knowledge of magic and magical places, as well as a capability for empathy- a felidar who sees an injured humanoid is willing to provide healing, and one whose trust has been gained will often lead humanoids to places of great magic potential- or to the location of a dangerous interloper or creature that needs to be dealt with for the good of the mountain.
Felidar are beings connected to the Plane of Positive Energy, and a vivacious life flows through them. One pint of felidar blood can be used as 100gp of materials to craft any potion of the Healing subschool. Felidar never give this blood freely, instead using their roar or Cure Moderate Wounds spell-like ability- some unscrupulous mages take this blood by force, typically injuring or killing these majestic animals.
This large cat has a splendid rack of antlers upon its head, its horns and insides glowing with a vivacious life.
The first roar startles; each enemy within the area of effect must make a Will save or trigger an attack of opportunity.

Stegon
Tumblr media
"Stegon render" © deviantArt user SuperSamYoshi, accessed at his gallery here
[Stegon is a Return of Ultraman kaiju that seems to be an homage to original Ultraman monster Seabozu. Both are skeletal dinosaur kaiju that are treated sympathetically, and Stegon uses a modified version of Seabozu's roar for a sound effect. This is somewhat striking because Stegon definitely kills people. Like, we see construction workers get melted. So I wanted my flavor text to pay homage to that, and to be a technically-against-the-rules-in-PF1e neutrally aligned undead. I'm also including a reference to a thematically similar kaiju who appears in the same series that I'm also intending to stat up in this project.]
Stegon CR 17 N Undead This creature resembles the skeleton of an oversized reptile, its stance quadrupedal. Its skull has a pointed snout and projecting teeth. Its bones are embedded in a tarry mass, giving the creature a bulky body.
A stegon is a chimeric undead creature made out of the bones of dinosaurs and other ancient megafauna. These bones are suspended in a black tarry mass, something like asphalt. When a bone bed is disturbed, not to uncover its secrets and learn about its former inhabitants, but in order to exploit the land, a stegon may rise to avenge the desecration of its grave. These grave sites are sometimes those guarded by an oxter, which can lead the two monsters to collaborating in their destructive vengeance. Once it has avenged itself, stegons tend to roam widely and target land developments, strip mines and other massive construction projects that devastate the land. As such, stegons are among the few undead creatures that are respected in druidic traditions, although a druid would be likely to try to lay the animal souls to rest after they have completed their mission.
Stegons typically attack their targets using their breath weapons and trampling feet. They can breathe a cloud of acidic mist. This acid is much more potent against flesh and bone than metals and minerals, and the gear of stegon victims may litter its lair. If creatures fight back, or attack it, it fights with its teeth and tail if cornered, but is just as likely to try to walk away, trusting to its natural armor and resistances to shrug off attacks.

Some thoughts and headcanons born from @k-chips amazing art of AI!Clavell and a more cohesive gathering of my little idea dump there. This gonna be a long one, so strap in.
To start, the meat of my idea from that post (bold is me just adding context now)
It was their (Sada/Turo) invention- the time machine- that got the original Clavell killed. Like they brought our Raidon forward, but during their time back on the surface they realize how much of Arven's life they're missing out on, and Clavell is like "You spend time with the kid, I'll keep researching, when Arven is around 16-17 we can swap spots" but shit went sideways when, while down there with Raidon, the second, feral Raidon is summoned and the game follows the tragedy we all discover.
So, in this timeline, Sada/Turo aren't as obsessed with their research. When they bring Koraidon/Miraidon (just for the sake of convenience, we will be using Pokemon Scarlet as a base as that's the version I play going forward, but remember this also applies to Violet) to the surface, Arven is around maybe 8 or 9 and Koraidon is around the same age based on journal entries mentioning how she "expected one gift of life, and now she has two" after mentioning bringing Kor foward in time, is when Sada realizes she's missing out on so much of her son's life, and that creating Paradise is worthless if it means destroying what remains of her little family.
Enter Clavell: he's still somewhat involved with her research in Area Zero and suggests she stay and raise Arven and he'll work on her research with the AI she began developing, and when Arven is old enough they can swap spots and she can return to Area Zero. She agrees, and after the event causing Kor to be sent back to the Crater, Sada and Clavell keep in constant contact with her and Arven occasionally making trips down to visit.
4 years before the game, the 2nd Koraidon (I'll refer to it either as feral Kor or Rex (in reference to its dex entry calling him the Winged King)) is brought to our time. Rex attacks Kor, and Clavell follows the battle to Research Station 4, the AI giving him updates on the battle. He arrives just in time to see Kor backed into a corner with Rex ready to give the killing blow. Clavell shields Kor, having practically raised it, and is killed by the feral Koraidon.
The AI panics, Kor is injured and flees, and suddenly Clavell stops calling and refuses any suggestions to come visit from Sada. He only communicates via email for a year, and when he finally video calls its to say that if he needs anything from her or if there are any developments in the project, he will reach out to her and to stop disturbing him.
Sada of course is upset by this. Angry that he basically told her to fuck off on what is technically both her and Clavell's research (bc she's probably been working on her research while still raising and spending time with her son), and worried as her friend and mentor has never been like this.
Not sure how Clavell would become Academy Director in this timeline unless Team Star's actions at the school take place a bit before Clavell dies, and just before he's killed Clavell had accepted becoming director, but requested time to finish his work and that Sada be his temp replacement (or something, still working the kinks out on this one)
Anyways, a year before the game Arven- who misses Clavell and is both mad at him for upsetting his mom and worried for his safety- enters the Crater and during this, Mabosstiff is attacked by something (in Scarlet, I personally think it was either a Slitherwing or a Roaring Moon, but the later means that they were lucky to even escape alive, as Roaring Moon doesn't seem to be one to leave its prey alive.).
Game occurs, Sada being acting Director while juggling investigating Team Star, her research, raising her son and trying to help Mabosstiff, and looking into what could have happened to Clavell, who suddenly hasn't been responding to anything despite how he should have returned to take over as Director. She's surprised to see Kor, but AIClavell calls and says that Kor must have missed Sada and Arven and gives ownership of Kor to the player. Sada figures it would be good for the lizard to get experience via your Treasure Hunt and requests you take care of it as it's like her second child.
Game proceeds as normal till Area Zero. Sada joins the gang in the Great Crater partially because she knows how dangerous it can be and she can't just allow 4 teens to stroll in there unsupervised (why Clavell would even request a child enter the Crater is something that bothers her), and partially to see what's going on down there. She's basically bouncing up and down seeing her paradise having been created, but recognizes that should the Paradox mons escape, it would destroy Paldea's ecosystems. When you go to talk with AIClavell at the lab, she stays outside at first with Arven to hold off the Paradox mons trying to get in.
When she finally sees AI Clavell and discovers the OG Clavell is dead, she is in a state of shock. It was her invention, her dream that resulted in her best friend and mentor's death, and that this entire time she hadn't even been communicating with him, but the AI she created to help Clavell.
AI Clavell needs someone to stop the machine as he knows his human self would want the same, but the Paradise Protection Protocol kicks in, much to Sada- who had it as a failsafe should the time machine detect that a Pokémon was attacking it, not if someone was simply powering it down- and AI Clavell- who didn't even know it existed- horror.
I might add more to this, but yeah. TLDR, Clavell stays in Area Zero so Sada can raise Arven, Clavell is killed protecting Kor, Sada is Director instead, AI Clavell battles you.

What the hell happened in Area Zero before the Expedition Team got there?
Evidently something was there before them, and that something was likely sentient.
Area Zero has interesting geography. I’ve been grinding down there - defeating Paradox Pokemon gives you huge amounts of EXP, so it’s a good place to work on evolving things for your dex - and I’ve been looking around and exploring a lot. I’ve been investigating what previous groups of researchers have left behind down there, but there are things that absolutely predate even Heath and the Expedition Team, who were down there approximately 200 years before the events of the game.
Spoilers for Scarlet and Violet below the cut.
Tumblr media
The Expedition Team found this thing when they got down there, as it’s mentioned in the book. Whatever the metal was that was used here, they were unable to even scratch it, leaving them to ponder the mystery of how it was etched. It’s unclear what it represents, but it does have an hourglass shape, and hourglasses are often used in time symbolism. Additionally, there’s a map of Paldea depicted with dots where each major city and town is, as well as the Great Crater. This thing was likely made after the crater was formed, but was clearly there well before the Expedition Team got down there. Here’s Heath’s description of what he found:
Tumblr media
Someone appears to have placed it on a nice plinth for people to look at if they happen to be down there - not that people are usually down there - but it did make it easier for me to screenshot it and get a good look at it myself, as seen above.
The other location that suggests something sentient was here well before the Expedition Team is found in the cave where you catch Roaring Moon/Iron Valiant:
Tumblr media
When you go to the cave, it looks like this:
Tumblr media
This was clearly made by hand, carved out of the ground. Humans have been doing this in the real world for thousands of years - think of the Nazca Lines, or the Uffington White Horse - with the full intention of these things taking their proper shape when viewed from above. We call these geoglyphs. In the case of this one, there’s a nice, easy slope to climb up, and you can use Koraidon or Miraidon to get a bit higher and get the view I’ve screenshotted here. This site was clearly intended to be used, but for what purpose, and who was down here doing this? What were they trying to do? And why is this the only place in Area Zero that Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant spawn, the two Paradox Pokemon separated from the others in the Pokedex?
Heath wonders in the Scarlet/Violet Book who was down in the crater before them. We know that Paldean royalty sent teams down into the crater to search for treasure, but none made it to the bottom. Heath’s team got the closest before the creation of the Zero Lab, and they found the crystallization down there; Heath then presumably had an encounter with the Disk Pokemon, believed to be this game’s third Legendary.
Tumblr media
Heath wrote this page whilst experiencing symptoms similar to carbon monoxide exposure:
Tumblr media
This presumably occurred during his encounter with the Disk Pokemon. Interestingly, the Professor down in Area Zero also encountered it, roughly around the time they started to develop the Tera Orb technology:
We've determined that this energy crystallization is linked to the being we call ▊▊▊▊▊▊. The interlocking hexagonal plates that comprise ▊▊▊▊▊▊'s shell must somehow cause this phenomenon—which I've dubbed "Terastallizing."
This thing is almost definitely linked to the alleged “time machine,” if it even is one and isn’t some entity feasting upon human’s imaginations. We know the “time machine’s” structure resembles it, and Arven points out the obvious plot hole when you talk to him after the School Battle Brawl Academy Ace Tournament:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most players likely also made this observation whilst playing the game, but Arven is there to point it out in case you missed it - the Paradox Pokemon were documented nearly two centuries before Sada/Turo built the “time machine.” The Disk Pokemon is likely at play here, since it appears to be connected to everything, but which came first, the Paradox Pokemon or the Expedition Team? Were they down there already, or did the Disk Pokemon bring them into being? Humans cannot use the alleged “time machine” - it spawns Pokemon out of itself (all appearing in Master Balls) - and the AI goes on a one-way trip through it in the end to fully shut the machine down. Whatever this thing is, it’s highly unlikely to be a true time machine and might instead be producing things based on the imaginations of people venturing into the Crater. Heath’s Expedition Team encountered the Paradox Pokemon (a Great Tusk or Iron Treads appears to have mortally wounded someone, depending on your game), but did this thing create them based on their expectations of what might be down there, or were they created from the expectations of others before them?
Was it, for example, the Paldean Empire’s expeditions down there in search of treasure when the Paradox Pokemon first started to appear? Or was it from even earlier, perhaps from a lost group of people - or non-humans - living there, as the geoglyph and the plaque seem to suggest? The land bridges also appear to be carved somewhat deliberately to create a clear path down to the bottom of the crater. Things don’t form that perfectly naturally most of the time; it could have been a procession path, or perhaps a way to get down to the bottom of the crater for other reasons. Whatever it is, it wasn’t formed naturally - it’s too coincidental for that. (Perhaps the Disk Pokemon might even be responsible here, too, in order to lure other beings down into the bottom of the crater so it could influence them. We likely won’t know until we learn more.)
In short, the evidence points pretty strongly to a pre-Paldean Empire civilization using the crater for some purpose. Whether it was for religious rituals or some other purpose, it’s clear that a very deliberate path has been cut out to get down there, and geoglyphs appearing, as well as that plaque with all the cities and the Great Crater on it, suggests it was a location of importance. To whom, however, is still the biggest mystery, and we can hope that it will be answered in an inevitable DLC for these games.

now that it’s pretty much confirmed the Paradox Pokemon are real and not imaginary (saying other timelines is still a bit vague because it could mean either alternate universe or still just past and future imo but I personally prefer the latter)
can I just say I think people are kinda exaggerating how contradictory the Paradox Beasts are?
like as someone who always stuck to the past / future explanation my immediate assumption was that the paradoxes eventually became the three pokemon that died in the Burnt Tower, then became more similar to their ancient selves again and got some of their old power back after being revived by Ho-Oh, kinda similar to how mega evolution seems to bring out ancient characteristics in Pokemon (Mega Aerodactyl’s dex entry, Roaring Moon’s comparison to mega evolution etc)
I wouldn’t have thought this’d be hard conclusion to come to but I still see people saying it’s impossible for them to exist, am I wrong for thinking they’re overblowing it 😭

Got any ideas for a paeleontologist reader who looks after fossil Pokemon, meeting the Paldean Paradox Pokemon and Waking Wave aka Paradox Suicine?
Yeah! I got hcs!
.....
As a paleontologist, you travel all across the world, studying Fossil Pokémon and resurrecting them with your portable revival machine.
You've taken just about every single kind under your care. From the mighty Tyrantrum to the bizarre Lileep, you adore them all.
Even Relicanth behaved like a living fossil in your eyes, so you looked after one of those, too.
You were familiar with the Bone Wars, so when you arrived to Galar, you decided to revive each of the four "fusion fossils", hoping to improve their quality of living.
It just baffled you that even centuries later...nobody knew what they should actually look like. But despite their abnormalities, they seemed quite happy with themselves, being forever loyal to you.
Your next stop was Paldea, going straight to the Great Crater to see if the Pokémon described in the Scarlet Book were real. A lot of people didn't believe its author, but in your heart....you did. It piqued your curiosity, anyway.
So you assembled a strong team for protection before heading down there and becoming fascinated by what you discovered (aside from the lush environment).
You caught Roaring Moon, Sandy Shocks, Great Tusk, etc., but your pokedex didn't unveil much of their true nature, only speculations.
Oddly enough, there weren't any Aerodactyls or other Fossil Pokémon that you'd expect to see down here.
Eventually you find a cave of crystals and discover an ancient bipedal relative of Suicune--codenamed "Walking Wake" by the dex--slumbering within.
It was quite the beauty to behold, and it willingly went with you after you managed to quell its rage in a battle, demonstrating how it could literally walk on water.
You knew the tale of the Legendary Beasts' origins...wondering if this is what Suicune looked like before dying in that tower fire, but you had some doubts.
It's also strange that the picture in the book seemed to show a beast made up of all three of them, rather than just this raptorlike water-type.
Regardless, you welcome Walking Wake to the team and tend to their mane well.
If your feet ever get tired, they'll happily let you ride on their back.

part 2
Briar goes to the party and helps her crew finish setting up (Hopper, Cupid, Melody, Ginger, Maddie, Blondie, Dex, Humphrey, Meeshell, Farrah)
it’s an orchard star party so it was fruit and star themed! Briar had organized it to show off the botany classes’ year/semester long fruit creation project and to help out her friends’ small businesses!
the party attendees eat the cakes and goodies, all fruit themed (and some were made with/served along side other students’ fruit projects), and many crafted by Ginger Breadhouse! Maddie Hatter agreed to make a special fruit blend of wonderland tea (when consumed it tasted like lemons and blueberry zapples!), and the music was provided by dual dj’s of the night, Melody and Cupid! Briar had asked Blondie to get good coverage of the night, so Humphrey and Dex (and Meeshell, who accompanied Humphrey) as well as Blondie herself, walked around interviewing attendees and getting good party b roll.
apple shows up exactly on time, others arrive, faybelle is the last to get there, both fashionably and rudely late. when faybelle arrived briar noticed she was acting weirdly. but faybelle insisted she was acting normally and went off to talk to some of the other general villainy students in a huff of sparkles and iridescent blue. Briar tried to blow it off, the night wasn’t over yet, and she still had a lot to do.
the party was roaring! and it was only 11:58. as the distant bell towers began to to toll, Melody and Cupid cut the music, Briar was at the mic. Faybelle watched from the back of the crowd.
“How we doing ever after!!” the crowd cheered, “We have one final surprise for you all tonight! As a special appreciation to the students who worked so hard on their projects,” a small, but bright cheer emerged, Briar laughed and waved, “and for all of the encouragement and support we got from our friends for all of those late lab night lattes!” Faybelle felt her pulse quicken.
“Late night lattes? who was she..” Faybelles thoughts were haunted by the sickly sweet scent of apples. Apple. the curse.. Curses! She had been so focused on club-snubbing Briar that she forgot to watch and see if she had given Apple the apple. Faybelle scanned the crowd nervously. Blonde after blonde, where was that short little- there!! Apple was jumping up and down near the front, waving and shouting. Faybelle rolled her eyes. Farrah was on the stage now waving her wand and saying something-
suddenly the entire orchard was filled with a luminous thick blue smoke. it sparkled and swirled, and smelled like blue razzberries. Faybelle coughed, she had never grown used to the taste and smell of good fairy magic, or really anyone else’s magic besides her own.
once the cloud of magical blue razzberry dust cleared- everyone looked down to find their clothes changed into twinkling, sparkling, gem encrusted and fruit themed versions of what they were before! the crowd erupted with cheer as Farrah daintily wiped sweat from her brow and curtsied. With that, the music began again, and the party continued on.
Farrah’s enchantment did more than level up everyone’s clothes- it also replenished all of the snacks and beverages! Briar made a mental note to give her a big gift later, maybe an enchanted spa set to help her relax after performing so much magic. She would have to ask Faybelle.. Briar looked around for the faerie but couldn’t see her. Briar sighed. Faybelle was supposed to meet up with Briar before the party to help show up, and she was two hours late! Briar smiled and waved to a group of people who were thanking her for the party. She headed off the stage and was greeted by a tinkling laugh and a warm hug. Briar looked down onto a cascade of shining light blonde curls, Apple. The friends embraced.
“Oh! Apple!” Briar held her out at arms length, “I made something for you!” Apples red lips formed a surprised O shape.
“A gift! For me? Why, Briar Beauty, you are such a charmer!” Apple giggled and twirled her skirts, “Do I finally get to see what you’ve been working on in such secret?!” Briar clapped her hands gleefully and darted behind the stage, emerging only moments later with a transparent gift box, wrapped in deep red velvet ribbons. Briar began to pull the ribbon, Apple’s eyes gleamed.
Faybelle made her way towards the refreshment table. She saw Briar and Apple hugging near the stage. “Must be soon now,” her hands trembled as she poured herself some tea. Faybelle’s stomach was doing flips. So soon. Faybelle felt nervous. Or… hexcited? either way, she felt the urge to fly. her wings unfurled, and away she went.

Alternate form of Pyroar for my fan region of Amaza Dex Entry: A littleo that does not conform to it's prides way is cast away, the need to survive alone triggers this evolution. This form of Pyroar can evolve from both Male and Female Littleo, it does loose it's fire type afinity for the mystical Fairy Type. Although they are usually solitary due to being cast away, Pyroar is extremly social and will form pairs or groups with other pokemon and Amazan Pyroar, they long for companionship and affection. It is capable of manipulating infinity energy with it's voice, summonng a plethera of powerfull moves boosted by it's roar, It will fight from a distance using energy based sound attacks and what is left of it's fire heritage. It makes a great companion and family pokemon, it is gentle with those who treat it nicely, it has a strange attraction for people who like punk rock fashion the most.

I wouldn’t call Shiny Hunting in ScarVi “Easier” per se, than any other Pokémon Game, just more obvious.
Because if you hunt a specific Pokémon, it’s just like any other hunt. Due to RNG it’s going to be either really quick or a gotdamn slog, because with any shiny hunt it’s guaranteed eventually as long as you keep going.
However due to all Pokémon spawning in the overworld, and each one being rolled whether it’s what your looking for or not, it’s much easier to find them, like you’ll be quite likely to stumble over a lot of random ones, especially if you have the shiny charm.
One of my best tips tho is if a Pokémon has a very subtle shiny, auto battle everyone you come across. I also recommend looking up Shiny Sprites so you know which ones are hard to find. I know some people like being surprised by how the shiny looks but that’s how I found my Shiny Plusle. If I didn’t know how subtle it’s shiny is I never would’ve thrown my Gallade at every one I wouldn’t have found it
My second best tip, if you just want a shiny and don’t care what it is, is to designate an area and circle it repeatedly. I found 3 shinies in the hidden cave where Iron Valiant/Roaring Moon spawn, and 2 near the cave in Indigo Disk where Torchic spawns doing this, although I do have the shiny charm.
(Pokémon Database has a shiny dex that shows every Pokémon’s shiny sprite from home in order of dex number and each Pokémon’s page has a section to show all sprites regular and shiny over the years, sometimes I look over it when I’m bored to refresh my memory)

Thoughts on Roaring Moon? It and Slither Wing are my two favorite Scarlet Paradoxes.
Tumblr media
I remember seeing the 'dex plate for Roaring Moon as one of the first paradox leaks of SV, and I was really quite impressed. I love the overall look of this thing; it's vicious and genuinely looks like a (fantasy) prehistoric creature, especially with the feathered dinosaur look. I also think the integration of the mega is well done; enough that you can see the inspiration but not enough that it feels like the same design again.
Visually, the wings on this thing are lovely; not only due the blue tips and vast amount of red draw your attention to them, but the use of feathers only at the edges gives it almost a serrated look, like a saw blade. I also really like how there's extra feathers around the hands and the face. Granted, I wish the shapes of the face feathers were more rounded instead of pointy to match the wings, but it still is a nice, unique integration of mega Salamance's face fins.
Another thing I like is the use of use of red on the underbelly and face. Mega Salamance's markings always felt sort of random in terms of placement, but here, the red is used to both break apart the otherwise solid body and to draw emphasize to things like the eyes.
Tumblr media
However, as much as I like it overall, I do think it's a bit too complicated for its own good. For example, the addition of yellow is a good idea, but the random arbitrary markings only serve to clutter the design (especially the random orange outlines on the underbelly). I'm also not a big fan of the random swatch of black at the bottom of the wings, as its the only place black is used in the design. If the black area was entirely yellow and you dropped the yellow lines on the underbelly, the color would be pulled through better, the body would pop more against the wings, and the whole thing would be more balanced. Alternatively, you could also have the yellow areas be black instead.
I'm also not a big fan of the white head area. I get that it's supposed to look like Salamance's underbelly, but between the face feathers and the red around the eyes there's just entirely too much detail on the face. This white division also serves no purpose, and could be dropped in favor of plain blue without loosing anything. Given that paradoxes are supposed to look different, I honestly feel like you can totally get away with just not having it on there.
And finally, the way the red on the tail tip cuts off bugs me. It doesn't flow well and, once, again, is pointless detailing where there didn't need to be pointless detailing.
So overall, I love the overall look of this design, from the feral appearance and the prehistoric feathered look to the subtle integration of the mega. My only issue with it is one too many colors and an overly complex design; strip away some of the detail, and you have something really strong here.
