Autumn 2023 Rumor Round-Up

Rumors and theories resolved October - December 2023

Confirmed

Sussexes want an invite to Royal Christmas 2023. (tons of PR from Meghan and Harry about it)

Charles to make a decision about the Sussex children's titles after Spare is published. (He took no action, which is a kind of decision...)

Harry's book finishes him with UK aristocracy and the BRF. (No invite to Charles's 75th birthday party, no invite to the Grosvenor wedding, excluded from the Sandhurst book, etc.)

Sussexes to get the Edward/Wallis treatment following Spare - e.g., only Harry is invited back, weddings and funerals only, no private or personal relationships. (Only Harry appears to be invited back and talks are happening through staff.)

Harry's book to be a financial disaster and incur very little, if any, profit. (Year-end publications from the industry revealed that Harry hadn't made back his advance and sales really struggled.)

Plausible

The Netflix docuseries was meant to include the Sussexes' charity work but the idea was scrapped after backlash in real-time. (The Archewell "impact video" published in December 2023 of work they claimed was done in 2023 includes footage from appearances made in 2022 that were confirmed to have Netflix cameras present.)

The Sussexes have been banned from the Carlyle Hotel for their past behavior. (They haven't stayed at The Carlyle since September 2021 - the Mandela Day/UN appearance - despite having gone back to NYC at least 3 times since.)

The Sussexes plan to use Endgame's criticism of the BRF to bury the "Harry's Nazi uniform" storyline on The Crown. (There was an awful lot of Endgame stories published that weekend, but it could be a coincidence.)

Partially Confirmed

William to attend the December 2023 Sandhurst passing out ceremony. (He did attend a passing out ceremony in December, but it was for the naval academy, not Sandhurst.)

Kate excluded from Charles's documentary to avoid upsetting Meghan and Harry, the same way she was excluded from The Queen's documentaries. (Kate didn't give a "talking head" to the documentary, but then again, most of the royals didn't - only Anne gave an interview.)

Scobie's "Endgame" will pick up where Spare left off, and the Sussexes will have an overt influence on the material so they can have new material with which to attack the BRF. ("Endgame" didn't pick up where Spare left off, but we can tell the content was influenced by the Sussexes and the Sussexes did intend to attack the BRF with the new information.)

Vegan Potato Soup (GF option/SF): I've made it without the toppings and it's still delicious!

Quinoa Stuffed Sweet Potatoes (GF/SF): I recommend adding black beans and corn!

Buffalo Tofu Wrap with Easy Vegan Ranch (GF option with these Lentil Wraps): I recommend marinading the tofu chunks for a few hours in the buffalo sauce and salt then tossing the cooked tofu in extra buffalo sauce; I've also used this vegan Caesar dressing in place of the ranch recipe OR used store bought vegan ranch for a quicker meal!

Vegan Lasagna with Tofu Ricotta (GF option with GF Noodles or Zoodles): I'm personally not a huge fan of mushrooms so I sub zucchini and bell pepper (or whatever else I have on hand)!

Easy Coconut Curry (GF): Subbing sweet potatoes for butternut squash has worked well... Don't forget to season with salt!

I managed a decent 39k words this month across 11 chapters. I actually wanted to do more (I secretly wanted to write another 4 chapters and hit a 50k+ wordcount which in retrospect is kind of nuts).

On the writing side, I wrote across multiple stories: Underline the Black, A Stain that Won't Dissolve, Underline the Gold, (Secret Project), and Constellations.

I’m pretty burnt out and working on getting my capacity back. I'm hoping to take two weeks off writing at the end of April, and we'll see if that helps.

I think burnout is something a lot of us are feeling and trying to learn how to navigate right now!

Fluffbruary 2023 - Round Up

I did it.

Holy crap, I did it!!!

Over the last month (in spite of getting Covid on day 13) I created 29 pieces of art, including:

8 x pencil, 3 x fine liner, 4 x marker pens / felt tip, 6 x coloured pencil, 2 x white pencil on black paper, 1 x charcoal, 1 x digital, 1 x watercolour, 1 x mixed media (fabric, felt, wood), 1 x carved watermelon (yep. watermelon) - - And 1 bonus piece, because it’s my birthday, I make the rules, and I’ll cry if I want to!!

And no, they weren't all perfect, or finished, or even fluffy hahaha. But gosh, I loved doing this! Thank you @fluffbruary for creating this awesome challenge! I have fallen in love with coloured pencils thanks to you, and cannot wait to explore them further!! Thank you @rutherinahobbit for the encouragement and handholding. And also for telling me to just go the F to sleep, because sometimes I need someone to say that. And a HUGE thank you to every single person who liked my art, shared my posts, and left wonderfully kind words in the tags. 90% of my fandom brain still operates in LiveJournal terms, and I find it hard to wrap my head around the 'Reblog Tag Compliment' thing, where y'all say incredibly kind things, and I resist the urge to be a weirdo and @ every single one of you in the comments to say thank you. I am trying to accept that that's not how things are done on tumble, so please take this as a giant @ y'all: I would not have made it to the end of the month without you, so THANK YOU!

So I blinked, and suddenly we are a month down! Anyone want to explain how that happened?

In February, 28 amazing participants created 50 glorious fills, 47 of which are listed for your delight below (as part of our new-and-improved fill submission form, we're now allowing people to opt out of us linking their work on tumblr, hence there being some not included here).

Of those 47 fills, 41 are fics, three are artworks, and then there's a single gif, a podfic, and an overachieving fic/moodboard combo!

How about ships? Well, we're starting out unusual this year, with more shipless works than Merlin/Arthur ones. Sure, with 19 gen works and 18 merthur ones, it's not a big difference, but it feels noteworthy anyway. In terms of the rarer pairings, we've got a few that show up pretty often on the bingo round ups (Gwen/Morgana and Merlin/Lancelot with two, Merlin/Gwaine, Gwen/Lancelot, Arthur/Gwen and Uther/Ygraine all with one), and then two that are far less common than they deserve to be (Elyan/Gwaine and Elyan/Leon, both with a single fill).

As you know, the February/March bonus badge theme is crossovers and fandom fusions - so far we've had five people claim the badge, and hopefully plenty more will in the next month!

2023 Book Binding Round Up!

Ok, I see folks out here putting up shelfies and round ups of their accomplishments this year, and by golly by gosh imma do it too!

So! I made 15 books this year! That feels like a lot, especially since I started making books last year. Here are the books I bound this year:

In the very bottom/back there, I have my crochet patterns, a single copy for myself at letter size. The half-letter books are A Year in Toussaint and Mind Over Matter, for which a made a copy for myself and another for the author (5 books!). Then come my quarter-letter books A Day in the Life of Dr. Raphael Esquivez and Incendiary, both of which have a sibling homed with the author (9!) And then the little octavo-letter is Toy Soldiers, of which I made three total copies for myself, the typesetter, and the author (12 books 😮). And finally, another octavo-letter which I can't share yet, because although it has reached the author, they have not been able to take a peek at it yet (15! 15 books, mwa ha ha!).

I am so impressed with myself!

Additionally, I typeset another couple of octavo-letter sized books, and other bookbinders from Renegade Bindery bound them for me!

These are The Kaer Morhen Book Club and Gilded Chain! I am so delighted to have these tiny fellows on my shelf.

Champions League qualifiers round 1- defeat to Paris FC

Very disapointing result yesterday, and not a result a lot of us expected, probably not a result Jonas expected since he didn't plan for a penalty shootout.

We had it all wrong yesterday, in my opinion. Our line up was wrong, should've started Russo and McCabe, we could've put the game to bed and not have to fight tooth and nail to get it to penalties. From the start, something i kept noticing was that we looked disjointed and that there was a communication issue, especially from the backline. Obviously we've brought new players in, this is the first time they're playing matches together, so they might not work good together straight away, but we just looked lost.

2 goals in 60 seconds...is embarrassing. Manu looked lost in goal and I feel like she wasn't 100% yesterday, I want to see Sabs move more to our no.1 goalkeeper as i doubt Manu is staying next season, Manu has been lacking for some time, she's still a good gk, but she is making more mistakes that are costing us. We conceded again basically right after the restart from the first goal, a misplaced pass from Lia, when we got to 2 down i started having Birmingham City flashbacks.

Last season when Leah tore her ACL, I knew our backline was gonna be worrying, but for the rest of last season we still had Rafa to help us, now we have no Leah and no Rafa. Noelle was poor, her scuffed pass in the first half had me sat in disbelief, Lotte was also poor, people seem to be up in arms when people criticise her, obviously some people tow the line where it steps into abusive language, that no player deserves, but there is no problem criticising a player that was poor. She makes mistakes every game that leave us scrambling trying to get the ball back because we're now being heavily counter pressed. I just hope we sort it out because I dont know how long I'll last if I have to watch that defensive line up again, our best option is a back 3 until Leah is back.

Alessia is looking really promising, she got 2 goals for us and managed to keep us in the game, obviously her penalty miss was sad, but she's the reason we got to penalties in the first place, and you can blame Jonas lack of preparation for penalties, at least she offered to step up. When he put Jen up front, I cant lie, I was ready to see a resignation letter, but Jen always shows up in the big games when we need her, eg Wolfsburg. Frida also poor today, I think after seeing the game she played during the 120 minutes, she shouldn't have stepped up, she missed chance after chance and we're meant to think she'd be able to convert from the spot after having such a poor game ? hmm.

Obviously no Champions League is going to be heavily disapointing, Codina won it last season and now she's already out. On the bright side, it means less games, no awkward midweek games when we have an important league game coming up ect. We have no excuses not to win the league, and if we dont, we have to start asking questions, we didn't get the Champions League, our players have less games, why are we not winning ? The last time we didn't get Champions League was in 18/19 season, and we won the league. We need to win trophies this season, we dont have the pull of Champions League to convince players to come to Arsenal, what pull are we gonna have to get world class players if we cant win the FA Cup, Conti Cup, the WSL ? What pull are we gonna have to convince players who are already here to STAY, if we cant win anything ?

We don't have Champions League this season, its done, we cant do anything about it, we cant get it back. We're an english giant, we dominated the WSL for years until other teams caught up, we dont have the pressure of champions league this season, so full focus on the league, and everything that comes with it.
