On Tuesday, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz and honorary “Florida man” Rep. Elise Stefanik, and 64 House Republicans presented a resolution to declare that Donald Trump “did not engage in insurrection or rebellion” related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Gaetz began the press conference by saying “We are here today to authoritatively express that President Trump did not commit an insurrection,” More importantly, Gaetz made it clear that he plans to use this as a MAGA purity test. After thanking Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio for filing a companion bill in the Senate, Gaetz said, “And now it's time for members of the House and Senate to show where they stand on this question.” And just like that, Gaetz’s remarks were followed by a series of Republicans praising dear leader Trump and saying how the insurrection on Jan. 6 was a concoction by “leftists.”

If I may be open for a moment- (it is my blog and I can be open if I like, but) I have only recently begun interacting with others recently despite having this blog for so many years, it worries me to post any private or personal ancedotes on here but-

FGM terrifies me.

The first time I had ever heard of it was from an episode of Law and Order: SVU when it originally aired in 1997, and I was 4 years old. I didn't know was "genitals" were, or "mutilation" was, so I asked my mom. She looked at me, I distinctly remember her eyebrows creasing in the middle and her eyes just looking so sad and saying, "its when they cut girls private parts. It hurts them." She made a slicing motion with her hand against her arm. I remember being glad they arrested the person responsible for this crime.

The second time I had heard of Female Genital Mutilation was Khadija Gbla's Ted Talk in 2014:

I'm not sure if it was on tumblr originally, but it came with the chart she speaks of. I remember not being able to sleep that night because I was hyperaware of my own body parts and it mixed with complete sorrow for all the women and girls of the world that have had this performed on them.

Hi everyone! My name is Gay Valimont- I’m an activist with Moms Demand Action. As we’ve seen FL sliding downhill in the last few years, I’ve been on the frontlines in my orange and red shirts as the leadership of our statewide campaign for common sense gun legislation. I’ve made so many incredible relationships with folks who have inspired me to take up fights even when it’s not easy, and rarely is it in the Florida Panhandle. I’ve had some bumps in the road and some truly trying times. Within the span of a year, I lost my husband to ALS, and my son to a brain tumor. The weight of my loss still hits me every day. My husband Brian was always so supportive of my advocacy efforts with Moms Demand Action. And my son Eli told everyone I was going to save the world. Sitting in front of the calming ocean that I’m lucky to live next to, I’m reminded of why I’m doing what I’m doing. Florida’s beautiful environment is so often cast aside by our lawmakers, in favor of headlines that make it into the news. Our waterways, wildlife, greenery, and beaches are why we live where people vacation. Taking steps to protect it is critical. I’ve always been an animal lover, and I live with my adorable dog Daisy.

Which brings us, of course, to Matt Gaetz. Our representative is constantly in the headlines for one temper fit or another, and our district suffers as a result. I can’t stand his arrogance and the way he thinks he’s better than everyone. I hope by running against him, I can unseat him, but I also want to be an example to all the moms out there that they can stand up to create change in their communities. In the last few years, we’ve had candidates make headlines by running against Gaetz, but none of them have truly invested in building grassroots, local campaigns in the panhandle. As an organizer, I think I’m uniquely qualified to try. I had a video put together that I think sums up nicely why I’m running.

The bill is very ambiguous but in WA State which way will it lean? Even the most loving and caring parents will be pushed out of the picture; they will be labeled abusive and neglectful, all because they didn’t “affirm” their Childs gender.

A Washington State bill that would strip parents' rights to intervene on their kids medical care in certain circumstances passed the House Wednesday, clearing its pathway to being signed by Gov. Jay Inslee.

Another "compelling reason" not to notify parents about kids staying in a host home was "circumstances that indicate notifying the parent or legal guardian will subject the minor to abuse or neglect."

Other states, such as California, are considering legislation that would restrict parents' rights. Some critics have accused a bill of "state-sanctioned kidnapping."

In March, California introduced a bill, currently being reviewed in the State Senate, students to be admitted into a group home without parental consent with approval from school counselors.

A counselor who testified against the bill said, "It is apparent that one result of this bill will be the removal of trans-identified children from the family home."
