Avenging Angel by Kristen Ashley

How can a book feel like coming home while still being all shiny new? I’m not sure, but this is most definitely the case with Avenging Angel, the start of the new romantic suspense series. This is the off-shoot of the Rock Chick series, and it is a few years later, and our teen boys are all grown up, and old Sniff, new Cap, is in Phoenix, where Mace and Stella have moved, and set-up a new branch of NI&S. There is little left of the teen we knew, except for his huge heart, and his caring nature, which shine through in the man he has become. Raye is wonderful, and I loved how she developed as we learned more about her. Yup, it has insta-love. Of course it has a girl posse. No doubt about the hotness of the hot bunch next gen. But more importantly, it is full of love, action, zaniness, and understanding that only comes from finding your place in the world, and being completely comfortable being there <3

Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites

I finished Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites by Joy Demorra last night. I devoured this book. I now feel silly for putting off reading it for so long now, because it is so up my alley that it's stupid.

True Love Bites is the first book in the Hunger Pangs series. It is set in a magical twist on Victorian England. It follows three protagonists: a disabled werewolf captain, a roguish vampire viscount with a bad reputation and a mysterious woman with powerful magic. This book focuses mainly on the relationship between the first two, the werewolf Captain Nathan Northland and the vampire Viscount Vlad Blutstein. Nathan returns from war badly injured and barely recovered, but life in his ancestral home isn't the reprieve he was hoping for. No one seems able to cope with his lingering injuries, including himself. When a family friend suggests applying for the open position of Captain of the Guard on the island of Eyrie, Nathan is eager for any chance to get away from his family and re-enter the wider world. The only problem is that the island of Eyrie is full of vampires.

So, what initially intrigued me about this book was hearing someone describe it as a sort of deconstruction of romance tropes that grew legs and kept going. And, after reading it, I can confirm that it is indeed that! And also that all the subversions are super satisfying! There were so many beats where I could feel my brain saying, "Ah, yes. The classic (whatever). Now, this character will do this and- Oh. Oho! Nevermind! What the fuck! Go off! Yes!" I don't want to list off the examples, because they felt like really satisfying twists to me and I hope they feel the same to others. So I don't want to spoil them ahead of time.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in romance, but a little tired of all the normal formulas. It was really sweet and heartwarming, and I'm honestly champing at the bit to read the next one.

i managed to find these designs.. the plot was that victini ran an underground pokemon fighting arena because fighting was banned in their world, and one day emolga comes in (a literal child actually) and wants to fight.. so victini is like Haha yea right like im gonna let a child fight! (he lets the child fight and continues to profit off of it) the grey one (i forgot the name sob) was emolgas friend who was trying to get her out of the situation but ended up being dragged into it that was the basic plot of it all!! victini does try to commit actual child murder in this but its fineeee

I had a lot of fun with these two! From the absurdity we start off with, until the craziness we end up with, there are a lot of moments that are characters are wondering “how did this happen?”. But, there are a lot of tender moments, sweet moments, and heated moments as well. There are times when where there is pain, confusion, and hurt. There is, but of course, a trip to the hospital, because, that always needs to happen 😉. This is a great start to this series, and we already get all the plans laid out for what is to come in the next two books, and I cannot wait!

season 9 has been amazing but i’m kinda excited to be around for the beginning of a hermitcraft season, they were well into the empires crossover arc when i started watching double life (which was pretty much my introduction to mcyt in general) so this is gonna be my first time actually being around for the early game
