Marcille didn’t use illegal magic to resurrect Falin bc she just loves Falin that much, she was able to resurrect Falin bc she already knew illegal magic bc she doesn’t respect elf cops.

Levan aka Papa Draconia: Dragon, Long, or Raven?
Tumblr media
So I rewatching from clips from the live-action Maleficent movie, and I was SHOOK at this scene. When Maleficent was trapped underneath the iron chains, Diaval (known as Diablo the Raven in the og Sleeping Beauty) was flying around in his Raven form to try and help her.
But Maleficent waves her hand, and says “turn into a dragon.” The dragon form in Sleeping Beauty was now given to Diaval, NOT Maleficent. Maleficent in the live-action film does have a habit of turning Diaval into different forms: first he was a raven, then a human, then a wolf, and then a dragon.
This is very interesting to me because the TWST fandom does seem to be a little divided on what type of Fae Levan is. Levan/Revan sounds a lot like “Raven,” and if he’s married to Meleanor, who represents Maleficent, it makes sense that Levan would represent “Diablo,” Maleficent’s loyal companion.
Tumblr media
However, the confusion lies in Levan’s official title: Ryūgan Duke Levan, or 竜眼公レヴァーン. It roughly translates to “Dragon-Eyed Duke,” or more specifically, “Long-eyed Duke.” If you remember from the first Halloween event, Malleus makes it rather clear that the Chinese Long is different from a dragon
Tumblr media
This title gave maybe people the impression that Levan is NOT a Raven Fae, but a Dragon Fae like the rest of the Draconia family. However, others say that it could just be a title representative of Levan’s connection to the Draconia family. Lilia even refers to Levan as “Meleanor’s eyes, limbs, and husband,” just like how Maleficent in the live action says she needs Diaval “to be her wings.”
Tumblr media
I personally lean towards the idea that Levan is a Raven Fae, but this Maleficent scene intrigued me. Shape-shifting magic seems to be very looked down upon in modern Twisted Wonderland society. Jack Howl has a very rare type of Unique Magic that can transform him into a wolf, implying that this is not a regular power of Beastman, Merfolk, or Humans.
Fae, however, do have some forms of shape shifting magic. Perhaps the negative views of shapeshifting magic in modern TWST society is another indicator of the prejudice society had against Fae.
Tumblr media
Y’all know I had to bring CROWLEY into this 💞💞💞💞💞🐦‍⬛ But remember in the prologue, Crowley literally just has a transformation potion on him, which transformed him into a ghost. It’s mentioned several times throughout the main story that shapeshifting potions are illegal under less prescribed under very specific circumstances, and Azul and Riddle went even more into detail about this in Book 6. It’s seems like no surprise that Crowley would be doing something illegal yet again, but why shapeshifting specifically?
Tumblr media
So what if Levan, a Raven Fae, found a way to shapeshift into different forms other than a raven in battle? Levan is one of the top generals in all of Briar Valley, after all. It would be even more interesting if he’s referred to as a “dragon” in his title this way…perhaps he was well known for shapeshifting and utilizing different forms to defeat enemies. Riddle mentions how potentially dangerous the major physiological changes can be…so if Levan really does shapeshift in battle…that’s incredibly impressive.
This seems like case closed, right?
Tumblr media
BUT THEN THIS ONE THROWAWAY LINE FROM MALLEUS CHANGES EVERYTHING
“Technically, longs wouldn’t be categorized as Fae.”
HM???
Again, Levan is referred to as the “Long-Eyed Duke.” The Chinese characters heavily imply that he has some type of relation to the long.
But the long can’t even be categorized as a Fae?? What are they categorized as then? Monsters????
It’s very interesting. Either this line supports the idea that Levan can shapeshift into a long (but isn’t a long himself) or, Levan isn’t even a Fae at all, and is merely blending in with Fae society.
ANXHXHHSS MALLEUS I THOUGHT I CRACKED THE CASE BUT NOW THERES MORE POSSIBILITIES 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Just what it says on the tin. 18+ interaction under the cut. <3
So I feel like most of the characters could have lots of different presentations, but Some of them are just. They're very strongly coded, alright.
Andrey is an omega. He likes sniffing his love interests, he's like perpetually comforting himself with Nikolai's scent (okay and the cinnamon roll thing??? guys. it's right there.) Also the blanket nests all the time, etc. etc. He's super super physically affectionate with his partners and wants to be held/snuggled all the time - can I make it more obvious?
Taran is a beta. AND instead of those magic siphons he has sucking off his artisans, he's got some kind of meds that make him smell/seem like an alpha. I was actually thinking of a whole backstory like how instead of going to Aixois with his friend to buy a horse he was actually going to get a refill or something. Also beta!Taran definitely still has special artisans on his patronage to make him colognes designed to mimic alpha scents by amplifying certain aspects of his own pheromones.
Ariel is a beta that everyone thinks is an alpha. They have a quietly commanding presence and a way of arranging pieces to fall into place that gives off Big Alpha Energy. It also helps that they're such an enigma - major mysterious alpha vibes.
Esme is an omega on heat suppressants. She's like the POSTER GIRL for them (it's a secret still, but like c'mon). She's such a girlboss and definitely covers up her presentation to make everyone in Pheles believe she's an alpha, just like she has her whole "My name is and always has been Esme and I'm a fire mage" thing in canon. She loves being wrapped up (look at her wardrobe. homegirl does not own anything that doesn't FLAUNT THE FIGURE, and it's because she craves touch), she's literally whimpered and clung to alpha-coded people on-screen and immediately performed panic responses to cover it up, she's got similar responses to Andrey to certain magical signatures....don't EVEN get me started on how her body language around love interests changes DRAMATICALLY in public vs private.
Enoch and Nicholas are both alphas. But this one fic I read had their ruts trigger each other's instead of being on a regular cycle or triggered by an omega's heat, and honestly it was kind of genius. I think they'd keep a running count of whose rut induced the other person's (and by they, I mean Nicholas) and it'd be a competitive thing for no reason.
Tumblr media
So magical signatures are pretty much equivalent to what I think everyone's specific blend of pheromones would smell like, but I think blockers would come in two kinds:
Mufflers - more socially accepted/common, used as a courtesy when appearing in public during a heat/rut or when you know you'll be around a lot of people and don't want to accidentally flood anyone's brain who might be close to/in their own. Don't remove or replace a scent completely, just dampen it down. Negligible side effects, even if used long-term, applied topically (rich people have sigil patches instead of a cream). Over time, your body might develop a resistance to a particular formulation, which would make the muffler less effective.
Banners - very taboo and/or illegal when used outside specific "approved" ceremonial contexts (ex. religious figures who are mandatorily celibate, deep spy missions, etc.). Completely neutralize a person's scent; some kinds also replace the scent with a blend of pheromones from a different presentation, so you could use a banner to pose as a different presentation. Betas posing as alphas or omegas aren't usually made as big of a deal out of, but an alpha posing as an omega or vice versa definitely would be a big scandal.
"Scenting" as a form of greeting is only done within Pheles and the court - like the message bubble spell, it's a ridiculous custom rooted in the archaic "alpha superiority" posturing culture (and also because exposing your neck/scent glands to a stranger used to be equivalent to "you show me yours, I'll show you mine" since two alphas meeting would have to ease their instinctual threat response to each other).
Tumblr media
I'm gonna talk about ruts too but the alliteration was really cute <3
Even outside of heats, Andrey just builds nests. Constantly. Lowkey his actual heat nests are massive fire hazards bc of how many flammable, fluffy blankets and pillows he piles together.
Whenever he has to deal with his ruts/heats himself (I flip-flop on his presentation lol), Joel recites Farfallan verses - if it's reallly hard to get through, he does them backwards.
Joel is also the type of person to always try getting himself through without help because he doesn't want to burden anyone with taking care of him.
Esme's been coasting because she has enough girlboss alpha energy to make people placebo believe her Alpha Command Voice, but she gets found out either by her "fake" Omega Suggestion Voice working a little too well OR suddenly developing an intolerance to her suppressants and well...the fandom doesn't call her soggy for nothing. <3 First heat in what, seven years? Bitey bruises are the least of the issue.
Taran has a huge and unexplored presentation-play kink. He'll likely never get into it with a partner for fear of exposing himself.
Nicholas once had to be put into a medically-induced coma during his rut because he kept wanting to draw blood off Enoch and then the smell of another alpha's blood sent him into a raging frenzy.
Enoch tends to hide away during his rut, emerging only for necessary business or to work out (usually very destructive). He also gets more omega-like symptoms during his rut (feverish, very flushed, damp).
Plot Headcanons
Esme never realized it until way too late, but the periods where her heat would have been happening were also the times she craved playing bitey the most.
Nicholas would have put it together if he hadn't been so disgusted/busy playing bitey with her. Taran does put the pieces together because he's never seen Esme brat out like that.
Nikolai also figures it out and tells Andrey. Andrey is too busy building a nest to care (for now). Depending on divorcee solidarity status later, Esme might get an unwanted and unasked-for safe mating talk. Nikolai does the hand puppetry.
At some point, Andrey's and Esme's heats sync up and their altered behavior prompts the tabloids to theorize that Aurora is their biokid again
Alt. headcanon for how Esme gets exposed: when she's sick after ice skating and Enoch goes to check on her at her apartment....that wasn't an alpha command voice, that was a really bossy omega suggestion. And it worked. We leave it to the fanfics to decide if Enoch realizes or not!
Taran's post-sex cigarettes are for pleasure and for enhancing the dominant alpha notes in his scent.
Nesting Habits
Andrey likes soft fleecy fabrics best for nesting, decorated with silk tassels or pillowcases. He likes more blankets or his partners' clothes to wrap up in than pillows and likes burying his face in them while being "rolled up"
Esme likes the feeling of silk, but her favorite nesting material is cotton because it's softer and more breathable with the fur of her ears/tail. She doesn't like being too warm, she would rather steal a partner's clothes to wear than wrap up with lots of blankets
Joel keeps multiple rosaries on hand to decorate nests, whether for himself or a partner
Taran once jokingly called Esme a pillow princess. The scratches on his back took a month to heal

Subtext vs Plain Text: Multi-Tracking in TOH
So a disclaimer first: I am someone who DRASTICALLY prefers your basic story functions before you try to tell me what the deeper meanings of it are because, you know... If I don’t like your base story, why should I care about your subtext? If I’m questioning how this functions, claiming you’re smart for breaking your own rules isn’t going to make me turn around. And this is kind of the entire vibe I get from Hexide’s allowance of people to study multiple tracks. I’ll actually talk about the metatext first as I’ve seen others point out: It’s a commentary against modern school systems where kids are forced to learn a curriculum set by others specifically for a specific subset of jobs, commonly office or factory jobs. There is a lack of self expression and even self identity in these curriculums and it’s always justified with you needing it for the sake of your future. Even Willow plainly states she’s in abominations because of the job prospects which any Humanities or History major will feel in their soul. TOH presents instead the idea that self expression and experimentation are good and help advance kids more than simply trying to slot them into a one size fits all curriculum. That they need to be allowed to experiment and have a wide variety of experiences or to follow that which they are passionate about doing as an adult. For a kid’s show, it’s not terrible and it will resonate with many kids who feel abandoned by traditional school systems. The outcasts. The target demographic of the show in theory. And it’s not so radical as to seem completely dumb about these things. Until, you know, you spend five seconds thinking about the context of the show itself. In universe, there is a VERY basic explanation for why kids would focus on one track of magic. It’s literally illegal for them to do otherwise as grown ups. That’s not an over exaggeration or the like even. Because every coven in the world only allows one type of magic, and being outside of a coven is illegal, every multi-tracking student has two options: Join the Emperor’s Coven, which is depicted as difficult (at least until Sport in a Storm but that’s another blog), or becoming a wild witch which ranges from imprisonment, being forced into a random coven or just straight up execution. Quite literally the change to allow multi-tracking is setting up the kids for failure and death. If they can’t make it into the EC and compromise by going into a single track coven, they’ll be weaker than anyone else there because they aren’t as focused in their discipline. If they don’t compromise, they literally become outlaws. And Bump theoretically knows this. He was raised under Belos’ rule and likely would have been in school as the whole system changed to be based around the covens. Around what the new world order was. And as a pragmatist, the single tracks would have been befitting for that new order but allowing people the ability to swap if they showed an aptitude for another track is a good compromise. And the fact that all of these kids are setup for failure kind of undermines the subtext, doesn’t it? But if you ask why it was done besides to comment on the subtext, there isn’t really an answer. Hexide is never a major part of rebelling against Belos, never much of a driver for Luz to decide covens are inherently bad, especially since this subtext and plain text is mostly in her first day at the school so she can have a special, rainbow outfit when at school, so... Why just blatantly ignore your world building like that? Unless it’s just to get on a soapbox and preach about your ideas? Because even if I agree with your assessment, screeching it incoherently in the middle of Disneyland while I’m trying to enjoy it is only going to sour me on your message, if I hear it at all.

Hello, Youkai Watch fandom, today I bring you this.
I stumbled upon this alignment chart by accident, please tell me who made it if you have their info so I could credit them.
This alignment chart uses characters from Youkai Watch Shadowside and Forever Friends (mostly Shadowside, it's just this one guy from FF), and you can see I was scraping the barrel to fill some slots. It was very fun, though, and made me rewatch some episodes I haven't touched in a while, which is always a good thing. Also, I decided to only add one character per slot, the one who fits best in my opinion ( unless the characters are practically a single unit, such as the Onimaro Trio), but that ended up pushing some major figures to the side (like, for example, Keisuke and Akinori would both be Benefactors, and Fukurou and Douketsu would both be Soldiers, but I had to choose one for each category). I know that some characters don't really fit in these narrow slots, some are up for interpretation (how much do we really know about the Onimaro Leader or the corrupt royal advisers who framed Kuuten?), and some might be me misremembering the shit out of a show I'm in love with. If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so!
Here's the list, top left to bottom right, as well as some thoughts on their placement. Beware of spoilers, though, because it gets very spoilers!
Crusader - Tsukinami Touma. The post-movie Touma, obviously. He is a genuinely good guy who fights for what's right and is associated with sword imagery, what else can you say. Also, the reason he attacked the police station while under the influence of the Onimaro was because they made him believe the police weren't doing their job right and Touma was the only one who could fight crime efficiently, which means he must care about upholding the law, making him Lawful, alignment-wise.
Nurturer - Himeno Ayame. She is the kindest soul ever and doesn't want anyone to get hurt under any circumstances. She is the the only person on the show who is consistently nice to everyone, even the team's punching bag (Micchy, that is). And she is pretty social to boot.
Benefactor - Arihoshi Akinori. He is a free-roaming magical detective who will do illegal shit to solve a case, but will also do completely legal shit to solve a case, because he likes helping people and doing the right thing. Good for him.
Hero - Amano Natsume. I mean, who else would it be? She is literally the hero of this story, and she will try to deceive the villains by giving them chocolate bars instead of sacred swords, and I'm also not sure how legal jumping into that river from the movie was, she could have been fined for that if it didn't literally save a kid's life.
Vigilante - Jibanyan. All those Nyan Reno movies must have been one hell of an inspiration. He is a free spirit indeed, I mean, aren't all cats free spirits? And he is rough around the edges, but undoubtedly heroic and kind, and he will take on the supernatural law enforcements if they try to hurt someone who's dear to him.
Protector - Arihoshi Mitsue. She has high morals (some accidental dog-and-frogslaughter aside) and follows both the common Japanese laws and the laws dictated by the supernatural realm. She is not actively heroic (she tried her best during the movie, but at her age, she probably shouldn't have), but she is both a protector of tradition and a protector of the new generation of our spirit world doo-gooders. Respect the granny!
Counsellor - Whisper. Who else is there to give counselling to our leads if not the all-knowing butler himself? Whisper respects the laws of Youmakai, and appears to be working for Enma directly in the movie (I wonder if he still does during the show itself, that would explain where the detective agency gets the money to buy all these chocobars), but, as we can see from his past in the first anime, he is no stranger to barging into the royal palace and demanding laws be changed so he could keep hanging out with a friend. His relative closeness and complete lack of respect for Enma in some cases (the You-Tube prank and the Halloween boink come to mind) seems to indicate that he would be the most likely youkai to actually talk to Enma about changing the laws of the Youmakai if he disagrees with them, instead of following them begrudgingly (making him Lawful) or straight up breaking them (making him Chaotic).
Philosopher - Komasan. Why would a dog even care about laws? Also, he gives me general philosophical observer who would rather muse about the world around him than change it vibes. He is still a good doggo who will fight for his friends when they are in danger, and he follows his morals, but he will pay no respect to the silly human laws that forbid sentient creatures from urinating in the streets. Let him live, goddammit!
Rebel - Micchy. Acts without thinking? Check. Suffers the consequences? Check. Mantains a moral standing? Check. Would totally wear a leather jacket with a word "Rebel" etched onto the back? You betcha. I mean, many superhero comics and tokusatsu shows, which he is clearly a fan of, have rebellious protagonists who do the right thing and have high moral values without necessarily following the rules or staying in their lane, and many are at odds both with the criminals and with the law enforcements. Micchy himself has a delinquent background and would totally use underhanded tactics if necessary, but he is still a good guy and a self-professed hero. This guy is everything to me.
Trickster - Junior. Fudou Myouou Boy fits here too, to a lesser extent. Junior is still a little kid, so he views the world as a fun game to play, and being raised in a detective agency where exciting things tend to happen on a weekly basis is clearly affecting his development. He can be mischevious and cause minor trouble (including, but not limited to, eating someone's ark or cheating, like, twelve or so kids out of their Yu-Go-Oh! cards), and trickstery kinda comes with being a cat, but he is still a benevolent creature and will use his powers for good, even if using them for good means scaring a guy half to death (especially if it means scaring a guy half to death).
Judge - Lord Enma. Even with his throne usurped, he is still a just and honorable ruler who cares deeply about the safety of Youmakai and is willing to sacrifice himself to protect it. He is the law, or at least was the law before Lord Kaira took the throne for himself, but even then, saving Youmakai came first for Lord Enma, and getting his throne back came, like, third or so, he didn't even bother with it in the end. Nurarihyon could be in this spot as well, at least at the time of Shadowside, but the absolute shitshow that was his time as a consort in the second movie of the first anime makes me see him as more "Lawful Disaster" or "Lawful What the Fuck" than "Lawful Neutral". There was nothing neutral about him at the time, and even during Shadowside, his devotion to everything Enma kinda takes the neutrality out of him.
Soldier - Douketsu. Fukurou could be in this spot as well, but Douketsu had considerably more screen time than him, so I went with the teach. Fukurou can never win, can he? My poor owl child. Anyway, Douketsu is the devoted type. His moral compass is based entirely on what's best for the Oni clan, and, specifically, for Shutendoji. Shutendoji's wish is his command, and, even if he does not approve of his master's actions (see the Ayame/Jorogumo disaster for reference), he will always be there for him, will follow his every whim, and is more than willing to die for him (which he eventually does). Showing compassion to anyone but his fellow Oni clan members is out of the question, kidnapping little kids is the least he would do for his master. I wonder if his colleagues ever noticed anything strange about him during his short gig as a school teacher.
Undecided - Komajiro. Frog. That's it, that's the reasoning. He frog. Baby froggo. Dat boi. Why would he have morals, why would he follow the law? He loves his brother and is a friendly little creature, but he is more than capable of revenge, both petty and not-so-petty, and you will get your eye gouged out if he doesn't like you. This is what happens when you give a frog magical powers. Frogs cannot discern between good and evil, they don't need to, they are above that. Praised be the frogs. O shit waddup.
Rogue - Mitsumata Mizuchi. The Mitsumata Brother who did not grow out of his delinquent phase, but might begin to change his ways soon - not because he wants to be good or doesn't want to be evil, he just wants his brother to respect him. Laws, morals and alignments don't mean much to him, but his pride as a Mitsumata does, and so does his family (even if his reunion with an estranged brother did end up with a girl crying and a factory getting blown up). I don't think this guy respected a single law in his entire life, if he did not break a law, it means he just wasn't feeling like it on that particular day. His plan to get his brother's attention was to kidnap a girl, tie her to a chair and write a ransom note. I'm starting to think that watching too many movies and then poorly imitating them is a Mitsumata family trait.
Free Spirit - Ogu, Mogu and Togu. I'm including all three because they are an inseparable unit and play the same role in the story. While technically part of the malicious virus hive mind, they are not particularly motivated to do good or to do evil, they just float around doing what they are told, get attached to a guy and then help the guy in any way they can because they like him, whether it is by fighting the good guys, fighting the bad guys, performing a self-sacrifice or coming back after the self-sacrifice to float around once again. They even develop enough personality to get separated from the hive mind, all while not being technically good or bad. They literally become free spirits, after spending their entire lives as non-free spirits. Godspeed.
Overlord - the owner of NGEI, the power plant from the Robonyan 00 episode. His secretary also included because I couldn't be bothered to take a screenshot where he would be alone. A corrupt businessman who wants money and power, unsafe work practices be damned. You've seen these guys in the real world, now you get to see one on the screen. Not the strongest bad guy around, one combined effort from Whisper and Junior is enough to scare him into submission, and he gets his just desserts by the end of the episode. I know that the description says "bending" the law, and the guy clearly broke some laws in managing his power plant to get arrested at the end of the episode, but he fits otherwise, and bending the laws without technically breaking them can still get you in legal trouble if your power plant catches on fire and a group of kids nearly die. Shit, or was it a factory, not a power plant? I'd fact check if my browser didn't have a lethal amount of tabs open already.
Socialite - Lord Kaira. He wanted to lead all right, and lead he did. I don't think he was even that bad at it, like, everything bad that happened during Shadowside mostly took place in the human world, and the whole Soranaki kerfuffle wasn't even his fault. Nurarihyon is responsible for more ridiculous lawmaking than Kaira ever was, as far as we know. Lord Kaira's problem wasn't how he ruled, it was how he came to power (starting a coup and throwing a guy into a prison because he was more popular back in youkai school), and how he cared about power more than he did about effectively protecting his people (either that, or he genuinely believed he would just assimilate Fudou Myouou's power and slice Oni King Rasen in half effortlessly like a potato or something). On a sidenote, do we ever learn what kind of a human-youkai hybrid he is? Was he born from a youkai parent and a human parent, was he a human who somehow turned half-youkai, is he some weird magical amalgamation which resulted from some youkai scientists playing God? Either way, it clearly gave the guy some self-esteem issues that need to be adressed.
Schemer - the Onimaro Leader. You know, the guy from the movie who manipulated a lonely kid into doing lots and lots of crime, just so he could merge with Rasen, effectively stopping to exist in the process. We don't learn much about him, but he is hellishly good at manipulation (all of his scenes with Touma made me gawk at how good he was at reading that kid) and seems to be fairly smart and logical for someone whose goal is incomprehensible to humans. Like, why would you even want that? My theory is that all Onimaro are aspects of Rasen, one way or another, and the Leader represents his smart, logical and cunning side, you know, the traits that are kind of needed to be a competent king. This would mean that Ogu, Mogu and Togu represent friendliness, empathy and having an open mind, and these are the only three Onimaro he did not absorb. Says a lot about the guy, doesn't it?
Nomad - Shien. Yup, we are entering the Forever Friends zone, because it still counts as Shadowside, kinda, sort of, same game! He is a prince who hates his dad and wants to prove himself while also being a dick about it, and a lot of political and family drama follows, resulting in many senseless and tragic deaths among the common folk. You know, just like with real life monarchies. Also, Shutendoji was there, and it made things worse (of course it made things worse), and then Soranaki attacked, and Amaterasu of all youkai was there for some reason (it lasted for three seconds and he had, like, three lines of dialogue), and we ended up getting a baby Enma as a result. This movie was something else, I'm telling you. Anyway, Shien had zero respect for anything and anyone, ever, and his second life as Lord Enma is a big improvement (his second-second life as Hikage Mao is an improvement as well, he manages to be a background character for 214 episodes of the first anime without making it known that he can see youkai, despite everything that was happening around him in the classroom. A true legend).
Psychopath - Jorogumo. Hello, my favourite spider lady! We've all heard about women's rights, now get ready for women's wrongs. She does not. Give. A fuck. Morals can fuck right off, she will suck a guy's soul from his dead skull, and she will commit identity theft while commiting a different identity theft (theftception) to manipulate a simp into doing dirty work for her, and she will ridicule him every step of the way, and she will endanger all lives, any lives, as long as she gets to do what she loves (murder and consumption of human flesh). There has never been a better depiction of "gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss" as a character, and that phrase originated long after Shadowside came out. I love how she got to hang out in the opening credits long after the gang had defeated her. That's how much of an impact she had on everything, all while not being even remotely connected to the Soranaki drama (if she was present during Shuka and Kuuten's time, though, she would totally meddle with them to make sure the drama gets even juicier and everyone suffers even more, all while pretending to be Shuka's bff, friendship bracelets and all. I want a fanfic of this, not gonna lie).
Dominator - the corrupt advisors who framed Kuuten. This is the only slot that I have genuinely pulled out of the depths of my ass. How much do we even know about these guys? Why did they frame Kuuten? Were they worried that he was getting too much influence in the Youmakai court due to being Shuka's lover? Were they planning to set Shuka up with a different suitor to further their political agenda? Did Kuuten do something to anger them, maybe he vetoed a law he shouldn't have or crossed paths with the wrong politician? Was there genuinely a plot to kill Shuka's father, and the advisors decided to frame Kuuten to cover up the true culprit's ass? Were the advisors themselves behind the assassination plot? Or... Maybe the advisors genuinely believed that Kuuten was scheming behind their backs, but they had no evidence so they faked it in fear that Kuuten will go through with the assassination while they are too busy trying to catch him red-handed, and it was their distrust of him, not genuine malice, that got him killed. Either way, I needed someone for the Dominator slot, so let's go with the assumption that they framed Kuuten because they were evil, and were most definitely methodical and intentional while doing so. Honestly, I'm not even sure if it's them in the picture I used, or just some youkai they hired to get rid of the pesky Kuuten supporters. That's how vague the Kuuten situation is. Real world history tends to do that too, actually.
Sociopath - Shutendoji. Let me make this clear, the alignment chart uses the term as a description of a character archetype, I'm not trying to actually diagnose Shutendoji with sociopathy or anything. He clearly needs therapy (don't we all?), but I'm not sure if that would be the right diagnosis for him, same as I'm not sure if an actual medical professional would diagnose Jorogumo with psychopathy (they would probably get eaten by her before they could finish the assessment). Anyway, this guy had an agenda (to put Shuka back in charge of Youmakai, whatever it takes), and he sacrificed everything for this agenda. We don't know if it was his personal decision or if he was raised like that by the Oni clan and just trying to finish what his ancestors had started; we don't know if he genuinely believed that life would be better for everyone under the Oni clan's rule, or if he just wanted to have political power and saw Shuka as the only way to get it. His devotion to Shuka is almost fanatical in nature, his one-track mind makes him miss obvious signs that Something is Wrong, and everything about him screams "a kid who got brought up in a literal cult and does fucked up things because he doesn't know any better", but does that absolve him of responsibility for, well, everything that happened? Not really. Also, by the time we last see him in Shadowside, his two closest friends and allies are dead, his plan has failed, he has nowhere to go and he plans on drowning his sorrows in alcohol so he wouldn't have to face the existential dread of having failed the task that he's been preparing for his entire life. The tragedy of Shuka gave birth to the tragedy of Shutendoji, and time will tell if it, too, will result in a Soranaki-level threat that some kid with a magical watch will have to fix in a hudred years or so. Jiba Jinpei's descendants better get ready.
Malefactor - Oni King Rasen. The first trial our heroes had to face on their journey to Time Timely. The monarch who actually does something, that something being smashing stuff, throwing girls into rivers, shooting blood spikes at people and generally being an evil piece of shit. He is so mindlessly evil, it's kinda hard to hate him, unless you consider him and the Onimaro Leader to be parts of the same personality, then yes, he is very hateable. Also, his defeat made for a very entertaining kamishibai play by an obscure, but highly talented artist Mike Shadowside. Look, I'm referencing my own old posts now. It's time for me to go to bed, and, thankfully, we are almost done.
Anarchist - Shiroda, the thug from the first episode. At first I misremembered his name as Sorada and wanted to have an entire bit about how him being the first enemy of the series proper was a subtle foreshadowing for Soranaki, but alas, my bad memory is to blame. Anyway, he is a criminal who does criminal things criminally and beats eleven year olds with a chain. A disgrace to all anarchists everywhere, good thing the ghost of a little boy who looks inexplicably like Kujo Jotaro got him beat up.
Destroyer - Soranaki. The grief of a wrongly accused and executed innocent which took shape and went apeshit on everything, but especially his ex-girlfriend. Destruction of beauty and life, indeed. He wants to take away lives the same way his own life was taken away once. Tokio Ubaune from the first movie of the first anime had something similar going on, but her scope was not nearly that big, and her ex actually had nothing to do with it, yet he becomes the reason she changes her ways in the games, which is kind of another parallel to Soranaki. I guess the Amano family is just doomed to keep dealing with bitter spirits who are murderously angry about getting wrongly accused of crimes they did not commit and dying in prison as a result (an understandable reaction, not gonna lie), and the best solution just happens to bring their long dead ex to them so they could make up.
Oh God, I'm going to have so much fun tagging all of this, aren't I?
Anyway, have a nice Youkai Watchi-chi day, I hope the time is timing timely for you.

For the character questions: 🪄, 💋 (vice-versa works, too, as far as I am concerned), 🪡, 🦷
This is about the prequel cast because I literally never talk about them.
cw: suicide mention, demonic possession mention.
🪄 - has your character ever tried to use magic to fix their problems? did it take something from them in exchange? hurt them? drive them mad with power? kill someone they loved?
So originally, James died, and his cousin David made a deal with Chaos to bring him back to life in exchange for one of his children. And I had it as David escaped up north, and somehow the Ranch found him? Then stole Joe away. But I think it's 1000 times more fucked up if David just hands him off to Chaos willingly to spare his other kids. So I might do that.
💋 - has your character ever been betrayed by a lover? was it a bloody end sealed with a kiss?
I feel like when James killed himself, he kissed Julian/Six and tried to stab him so they would die together. Julian survived, though.
🪡 - has your character ever tried to change their fate? what did it cost them?
Before Julian became Six, he was sold by his family to Agony (a vampire living in the Bellam city slums) to be vampire food basically. Instead, Agony decides to make him one of his brides, where Agony basically tortures him for his own amusement. He also meets Chaos, Agony's lover, who is this really creepy shadow demon guy who's obsessed with him. (Stay with me. This becomes relevant, I promise)
So Julian runs off to one of the towns outside the city limits, and ends up boarding in the same house as these three guys, one of whom he becomes like unhealthily obsessed with (his name is James and he's really fucked up. He also looks a lot like Julian, which feeds into this weird, self-obsessed, fucked up, doppelganger, borderline faux incestous attraction Julian has for him.)
Anyway, so Julian ends up hooking up with James' grandfather, this rich guy who owns basically the whole town. He's also got his weird, hate sex thing going on with James. In Julian's world everything is great.
But then everything goes to hell.
So here are the basic points of what happens:
- Julian marries James' grandfather and poisons him to get all his money.
- He finds out Chaos has a major foothold in the town and that he has some kind of evil plan for it.
- James is killed. (Then resurrected and came back wrong.)
- James' mom and uncle kidnap Julian and torture him
- Anthony is possessed
- James' mom reveals to Julian that she is the head of an illegal experiment to create human weapons for the rich and powerful. And that he and the rest of the town are their prisoners. She also reveals that Chaos inspired her.
- Chaos proposes to Julian. Julian agrees in exchange for revenge on Sylvia, power and riches, and being head of the program (so he can lord it over Sylvia).
(Sorry Sylvia is James' mom)
🦷 - has your character ever worshipped something they thought was god, but turned out to be something more sinister?
Anthony (one of Julian's housemates) like goes to this church where they think they're worshipping god, but it's really just Chaos feeding off the pain and fear he causes the town. He eventually ends up being possessed by Chaos and being made to watch while he does fucked up stuff.

What gets you irrationally/atypically passionate? How about the ROs?
Okay, so, thank you for asking this question. The other day, I was in the YA section, and I got the book with this really pretty cover. I kind of forgot the synopsis. But anyways, it's called Ever the Hunted, and it is the WORST book I have EVER read, and I will tell you why!
okay. so. first the mc starts out by saying that hey, ive been starved for I think 6 months? apparently they have this 'mourning ritual', where hunters starve themself after they lose someone. however, how could she possibly survive for 6 months without food? she said she drank water, but it's not possible?
but i suspended my disbelief. maybe she's magic.
she then says she is in the King's royal forest, and she shoots an elk. She then says if someone caught her, she would get murdered. Oh, cool, okay? But your dad was a hunter, and you went on hunts with him? in fact, your house is by the forest? Was there no other elk in the world?
And then not even a minute later, after telling us it is deadly illegal, she says that the ROYAL GUARD are going to her house today, to seize her house. she explains her house was her father's, and now that the mourning period is over, the government gets the house, since they gave it to him. She says a BUNCH of contradictary info, so let me state it:
her father was a well respected man, as he was the royal hunter. okay.
however no one likes HER because she was had out of wedlock with her mother, who is actually from a country that is at war with her father's kingdom. okay!
Her mother is a poc! Awesome!
She is shunned by everyone for being born from her mother... but how would random people know? Oh, maybe it's cuz they look similar? She looks like a person from that country? Perhaps she's a POC!!
nope. She is pale as snow. And she has platinum blond hair. oh.
Her father was actually not that well respected bc their awesome house is a tiny tiny TINY thing, and they had like zero money, and now she's homeless.
anyways. she tries to sell the illegal meat in the market. there is only one guy that used to trade with her, but he refuses bc well it's ILLEGAL.
she goes home. the home infiltrated with royal guards. with illegal meat. of course she gets the death sentence for gods sake! so when she gets there the lord says they found the evidence of the man who killed her dad: her love interest, Cohen.
He was her father's apprentice, and she was in love with him the day they met. There was SO much evidence, i don't know why she was so against finding him?? he literally abandoned her months before the fast????
anyways so she has no choice but to find him or otherwise she gets the death sentence. then we get flashbacks.
do you know what my biggest problem is?? she says he is '2 and a pinch years older' than her. She says she is eighteen at the start of the story.
Later on, however. After they have had SEVERAL kiss scenes. She admits she is 2 WEEKS FROM BEING EIGHTEEN, AND HE IS 21 KISSING A MINOR??? WHAT??? WHAT THE HELL????
And another thing! The book sleeve ruins the ENTIRE story! I found out every major plotpoint from it! I knew the villain right away too, because it was so goddamn predictable! They even tried to do the one bed trope!
And another thing!! Cohen SUCKS!! He literally gaslit her at EVERY OPPORTUNITY!! he cares about her so much but know NONE of the townspeople will talk to her! She literally brought him back from the dead and almost lost her life in the process, and he left the day after 'to keep her safe'???? And when she finds someone to help her with her magic? he gets!! MAD!!!
he constantly critiques every thing she does! He calls her stubborn, but do you know he actually continuosly got her into problems? He picked fights on purpose, put himself in dnger, revealed himself when he was a WANTED FUGITIVE!! and then he would blame it on her, only later to apologize halfassedly and do some weird sexual thing!
and after the sexual stuff!! He says 'i shouldn't have done that. i didnt even like it.' he even made her dress as a boy, and never called her attractive until her grandmother dressed her up and gave her a makeover!! WTF!!!
the ending was so predictable, for ONCE he does something good and says you can use some of my lifeforce so you dont die to save the prince, but she transfers his essential lifeforce, the one she has a string of destiny, into the prince and is attracted to him in the end.
it was such a shitty book. i think everything i hate was in it. it even had the most uncomfy scenes in it. I hated it so much.
For the ROs:
Hannie really doesn't like corrupt politics. They hate people who almost religiously follow someone, and don't realize what they do behind all that. They could go on and on about media consumption and properly navigating it.
Oli gets very passionate about uno and monopoly. They also will go on and on about the guitar!
N is very passionate about the human body. They know everything that makes it tick. If you have a problem, they've studied for it, they'd love to tell you! They especially like the brain. They used to be interested in being a psychologist as well, so if you ask them about brain science, or psychology, you're set! And of course, they love dramas, and their family. They're a hopeless romantic, so ask them about what they want in a partner, what true love is, they'll be talking for hours.

Since my post about what I want for season 3 is blowing up I thought I’d try my hand at what happens in my head for Season 3 w/ Storm, her cousin, & Arya included:
Camila takes in all seven of Luz’s friends
They all have bunk beds and share a room
They’re super chaotic too and always up past their bedtime
Homework is done at the kitchen table
Everyone teases Storm for liking Ava
When she does realize she likes Ava she’s in the room and just goes “oh shit” to witch everyone looks at her
She legit just responds with “fuck, I’m a lesbian”
Arya is very flirty towards Hunter but he’s so dense and doesn’t realize she likes him even when she goes “Oh Hunter, darling~”
Storm cuts her hair almost immediately after arriving in the human realm
She picks up guitar
Aralyn starts stressing like Lilith big time
Once they dares Hunter to do the worm across the room but he didn’t know what it was so Storm did it instead
Storm keeps basically her version of Marcy’s journal, but y’know, owl house, human realm, and her
Everyone teases her when she reveals that her middle name is Evangeline
They all love and fear Camila
Once Willow tried to make Camila a birthday bouquet using plant magic but she went overboard and the whole house became a jungle
So they all just baked her a cake instead
In the human realm no one knows what happened to King
Raine and Eda get back together
Alador uses the infamous Stolas line from the new episode “THAT WAS THE SOUND OF A FUCKING DIVORCE!” on Odalia
Raine and Eda get engaged
For those that went to the human realm and King, they have a little tombstone with all their names on it
Eda visits it often and wallows in her remorse and guilt
Raine had to reassure her
She goes mama mode X10,000 and basically adopts all the kids left
Lilith figures out how to go Harpy mode
Eda gets a prosthetic arm designed by Alador
The Collector is literally just being a weird kid
In the human realm all the witches have to cover their ears and one day out of literally nowhere Stan shows up for Storm
Now she spends a day every other week with him
Flapjack keeps being a cutie
Storm keeps a locket with pictures of her and Eda in it
She loves Guns N Roses
Gus is obsessed with giraffes
He gets a troublemaker side and uses illusions for pranks
Amity is worried about the twins and her dad but not Odalia
Gus helps everyone forge illegal documents with his illusion magic
Camila remembers all the kids (including Vee)’s specific likes and dislikes
Lots of family photos with the witches and Vee get put up on the mantle
Luz & Storm take up major leadership roles
Ed & Em look like their natural selves, no more magic to make them look different
Alador spends more time with the twins
Even Darius is reassuring Eda that she didn’t fail the kids and King
King keeps tricking the collector so that they do what he wants in order to find a way back to the human realm and save the group
Storm starts randomly dancing a lot
If anyone calls her “Eva” or by her middle name she’ll riot
Camila doesn’t play favorites
The kids have definitely gotten hurt on the bunk beds before but it’s the only option Camila can think of
The gang will FaceTime each other put food up to the camera and “feed” each other
Luz’s palisman hatches
Hunter loves Zuko
Boscha turns around and turns out to not be so bad
Hooty is more sad but still Hooty
Storm likes Mickey Mouse because his voice reminds her of Hooty’s
She tried doing a Hooty impression once and everyone recorded her
Storm starts letting people call her Stormie and starts wearing her glasses rather than her contacts if only so she can feel more connected to Raine and Eda
Eda and Raine talk a lot about raising Storm together and want to make sure she approves before they get married
Eda opens up a teeny bit about Stan and tells Raine how he really does care about Storm and how she loves how easily he makes her smile and laugh
Bunk bed switching definitely happens in the middle of the night
How people say “I’m gonna get you” to like little kids or animals in silly goofy mood voice is Storm whenever she says “I’m gonna commit arson” she also gets in the crab pose to say that
Storm learns how to play poker and Hexes Hold ‘Em
Bedtime stories are a must for the mothers in both realms and so are bedtime forehead kisses
Eda goes through a lot of old photo albums of little Storm with Raine

88. Somethings you should probably know.
WARNING! Some points may be controversial. So I advise you to not read it if you don’t like what I have to say. Everybody got that? Good. Then let’s begin.
I’ve based this on the opposite of what I’ve watched in police procedurals like law and order uk and blue bloods. As in. All the characters are beholden to the law. With very few exceptions. And even then it’s due to the statute of limitations. For example. They will always be taken off a case that they have a personal connection to. Like when Phaedra Wilkins is murdered in season nine. Just because no one likes the cow doesn’t mean they’re allowed to investigate.
I’ve tried to make Findlay Sullivan the opposite of a typical leading lady that you usually see on tv. For instance. She’s the heir to New York State. But she’s not a self hating socialite who feels the need to apologise for being rich. She’s not a tv feminist. She doesn’t believe that women should be excused for crimes they’ve committed just because they’re women. She’s much more likely to side with a man in an argument. She’s not a female misogynist. She just doesn’t believe that men are wrong by the simple virtue of being men. Essentially. She just doesn’t believe in the Unfair Sex trope. Away from that. She’s very happily married to her college sweetheart with three sons. And they never have martial problems related to the job because I’ve also averted the Wet Blanket Wife trope. It also helps that she’s basically his sidekick on investigations. She also donates her unneeded paycheque to charity every week. She’s a centillionaire. So why would she need it?
Since this is an alternate universe. Certain things have happened differently in this universe. For example. The Romanov’s are still on the Russian throne because the Bolshevik revolution never happened. The Windsor’s fell out of power in 2030 and were replaced by the Burtons who are Anglo-Indian Fae. By season seventeen the is throne filled by Reuben Burton and his wife Chantelle.
In this universe. Guns are meticulously controlled. The public is completely legally barred from owning firearms. If you’re a cop. You can apply for a license. It’ll take you a decade but you can apply. During which you’ll be thoroughly screened. Until then you’ll be partnered with a license holder. That is unless and until you learn magic. Then any application is shredded and your main focus is to learn defensive spells.
90% of drugs are legal and lot of the health effects have been lessened. The only ones still illegal are those created by mobs like the Carothers family. And that’s because they don’t toe the line with regards to safety precautions and protocols.
Of age, consensual prostitution is legal. If you’re 18 or above and you decide to engage in prostitution as a career path you are legally protected from arrest. If you’re a trafficker. Then you’re on the wanted list. It’s just that simple.
Another thing I like to try and focus on in this is fairness and unfairness within the law. As in. Sometimes doing the right thing means you get arrested. Ie. In season five Sidney has to arrest Godfrey Christensen (literally God himself) for drowning several child traffickers in their own blood. And a major subplot in season thirteen pertaining to a false rape accusation takes its toll on Findlay to the point she seriously considers quitting the precinct due to serval instances of purely rotten luck.
Democrats make up the majority of American government. Has been since 2008 when Michele Obama was elected. There is a slight hiccup in season eight when Martha Fuchs tries to take over the world. But that’s eventually dealt with and Bethany DuPont gets elected at the start of season twelve. And no. Before anyone asks. Melania Trump was NEVER President in this world. Instead the president from 2016 to 2020 was Chelsea Clinton. My world my rules.
The government in much, much, much, much more on the ball in this world. For example. Covid only lasted a year in this world because EVERYONE abided by and enforced the guidelines. And it all went much more smoothly.
And last but by no means least. The fancasts I use for the characters are done by way of Playing Against Type for example. I’ve used Aidan Gallagher as the fancast for Drummond Sullivan. Aidan is known for The Umbrella Academy. Five Hargreeves is well, Five Hargreeves. More of an antihero than anything else. And Drummond is the biological son of a mob boss and is one of the token evil teammates in the cast. His catchphrase is essentially threatening to Irish jig on people’s faces with his cloven hooves. He’s also primarily a carnivore So. There’s that. But you get the point. I apply the fancast to the opposite of what they’re known for. Wether it’s John C Reilly as the de-facto Big Good. Or Aidan Gallagher as a hyper violent maniacal satyr.
There’s probably more but that’s all I can think of right now. So. Tell me what you think?

Wanna hear about the fantasy/rune thingy you were working on and never went anywhere ヽ(・_・ ;)ノ
basically it was about two kingdoms locked in a decades-long war over this stretch of land between their two countries that had once been fertile but over like 100+ years of war it had become a total wasteland yet the two kingdoms were still fighting over it because they didnt want the other one to win. one of the kingdoms set up a program to recruit kids aged like 12-18 to become soldiers with the promise of sending a lot of money to their families, bc a lot of people had been killed or disabled in the war, and as part of this program they offered the kids this magical healing service where by tattooing sigils on their body with enchanted metallic ink they could cure essentially anything, and they had implants/prostheses for missing eyes and limbs and stuff, but the trade off was that you had to sign up to be a soldier for 20 years. the ink was super expensive so this was the only practical way to get it for 99.9% of people. but of course recruiting child soldiers for your pointless infinite war machine is Bad, Actually, and the vast majority of the recruits just got immediately killed as soon as they stepped into the wasteland. also the survivors had to go back and recover the dead bodies so the alchemists could recycle the metal ink. not a great system for anybody really
so yeah i put a lot of thought into the setting of this world, but i just could not come up with a plot that was interesting and character-driven while also being even slightly reasonable. turns out its actually very difficult for a ragtag group of charismatic teens and young adults to save the world from evil. in order to make the story resolve according to my standards it wouldve had to be like several massive arcs of incremental change as they slowly dismantle the war machine, because i just couldnt in good conscience end it with the kids killing the evil emperor or whatever. i mean for one theres two of them. neither kingdom is good here you dont want either of them to win. basically the scope span way out of control, and like, i still really like all of the stuff i came up with! but i decided to put this in cold storage for a while and work on other projects. maybe ill come back to it in 10 years and write a bestselling series of 6 full-length novels that perfectly balance plucky YA heroism with the horrible realities of war while also having great action sequences and just enough political intrigue to be interesting. who knows.
some other concepts / plot points include:
everybody has some amount of innate magic, but the dominant society heavily restricts its use to healing and war only. elemental magic is definitely possible and was common a few centuries back but now they consider it a perversion of the natural order and its mega illegal
both kingdoms originated from the same culture group and worshiped the same pantheon of gods, but in the modern era one has forsworn all religion and claims to be all about science and rational philosophy, and the other teaches that their favorite god (Death) has killed and eaten all the other gods except for one (Birth) so now those are the only two youre allowed to worship
(in the endgame, it turns out that the gods are, to some degree, literally real, and Death is able to grant the protagonist some last-minute save because in abandoning all the other gods the kingdom has unintentionally given all their power to Death and now she's pretty much all-powerful. like, the system here is that there are definitely real divine forces, but their exact configuration depends on what humans call them, so that the more gods are recognized the smaller each one's scope is. by getting rid of all but two of them this kingdom has basically put all their eggs in one basket with Death and it turns out Death is not actually cool with that and wants to see them get wrecked)
people can have animal familiars by putting some of their own magic into a dead or dying animal which then comes back to life and also acts as a backup life for their creator. and the familiars look cool as fuck and glow and stuff, and they can communicate telepathically with their creator but no one else.
the protagonist has chronic pain from a spinal injury that gets "fixed" with magic ink and implants but then it turns out that the enchanted metal is not actually a perfect forever solution and if you use a lot of magic it starts literally melting out of your body, oops! people who survive their initial recruitment into the royal army generally have to keep getting more and more stuff put on or in them to stay in fighting shape. as the protagonist journeys around fighting stuff his body gradually degrades and he has to figure out how to keep doing stuff as his pain comes back.
at one point a woman with a huge amount of metal fixtures forced on her by the army uses all her magical power to destroy an entire army and all the metal melts out of her and floats around in a ball of liquid steel which she throws at a siege machine to destroy it. then she dies and is revived by her familiar and lives the rest of her life much more happily with ordinary mobility aids and accommodations
at another point a different woman uses super secret forbidden elemental magic to turn a whole sandstorm into glass needles and its awesome as fuck
at least one hurdy gurdy

blorbo rundown
finally giving updated and halfway sufficient descriptions of 4 out of 16 of the major blorbos that i'm constantly tagging and going insane over. these descriptions are rambly and longer than i thought they'd be. enjoy(? i don't know if that's possible)
blorbo #1 is harker karamazov. a poet. a dragon. genderfluid (he figures this out over the course of the story, at first he thought he was just transmasc). bro spends her entire section of the narrative assuming that the plot goes by jurassic park t-rex rules as in, if she does absolutely nothing then it won't get her. (spoiler he is got). her major conflict is against a fully grown man who treats his obsession with finding and killing dragons like a side hobby. like knitting or cocaine or whatever. harker is a 6/10 blorbo and loses a lot of points for thinking he could escape the lens of the narrative
blorbo #2 is miranda hilton. a human. autistic (no inside voice). requires that everyone likes her all the time forever or she might melt into the floor. unlike hark she is an eager participant in the narrative, not the broad narrative but the threads of a fabricated narrative within the wider story that she has unwittingly woven herself into. she nearly sets an entire town on fire multiple times (and it's always the same town too). her major conflict is against a random teenage boy who would definitely use reddit on earth and unironically say "why don't women like nice guys." he wants to date her but miranda has a girlfriend already so she goes "no thanks man" and he refuses to take that like a rational human being should. anyway miranda is like a 9/10 blorbo and i only dock points because she isn't as pathetic as she could be
blorbo #3 is ignatia twist. a bitch. a perfectionist. comes from old money. one of her dads owns mines. her entire family line for like 13ish generations (i think? can't remember the exact number off the top of my head) has been known for having really powerful magic and naturally using a very difficult casting technique but ignatia actually can't do that so she uses illegal earrings that artificially enhance her magic and allow her to pretend she can hang with the cool kids. she's bisexual. she has 2 dads and they got a hashtag #gay divorce. her major conflict is against a literal actual animal who hates her dads but would prefer to destroy their reputation than just murder them so she tries to frame them for ignatia's murder. she eventually learns to hate ignatia on a personal level. ignatia is a 10/10 blorbo because depending on which point in the narrative i met her i would either ask for her hand in marriage or kill both of us immediately
blorbo #4 is quintilian holmes. a florist. a domestic terrorist. flower demon. he has a disability that's complex to explain but has the most obvious effect of weakening his magic significantly. his magic specialty is literally just blasting things into a fine dust. occasionally by accident (oopsie!). he witnessed the horrors. he's like if sasuke had pink hair. he's bi and he pines for a gay dude but that gay dude is gay for a different bi dude (quin still thinks he has a chance). also he is a domestic terrorist, as i said. blows things up with his girlfriend of three days who is also later the antagonist he goes up against. the moral debate to be had between them is surprisingly complex considering the broad ideas of their feud is quin saying "maybe we shouldn't kill people" and her saying "ok but consider: killing people." quin is a 7/10 blorbo he should've killed people

When was the last time you fell?: Couple of weeks ago when I slipped in the bathroom and damn near knocked my head straight to the ground. Literal millimeters away from a bad concussion; and it would’ve left me shaken up for the rest of the morning and given me an existential crisis if I didn’t just have to immediately get back to work lol.
What’s the last flavor of ice cream you had?: I had the cookies and cream variant of the Magnum ice cream.
Do you know a Stephen?: Nope, nobody comes to mind.
Green or Purple?: Purple.
Are you currently mad at anyone?: I’m feeling a bit resentful towards a certain person, but not mad.
Do you own any sundresses?: Yeah, I have a lot of them because I used to have a sundress phase back in high school and college. I’ve mostly grown out of it now, but I still keep the dresses around if in case I need to wear something lightweight and comfy.
Have you done any deep cleaning recently?: No.
Have you ever cooked a meal for a large group of people? I was about to say no until I remembered that one of our major projects in home economics when I was in high school was to come up with a food business and serve the entire high school body for a day. Thinking about it now, it’s an insane assignment that should technically be illegal lol – but in any case, we had to do that and I remember our group coming up with a burger business. We had something else too...chicken tenders I think it was? We had to make hundreds of each dish and overall it went well, but again thinking about it now I’m just glad we never heard of any health issues from the students who bought from us.
Do you like reading peoples survey answers?: Sure!
Do you check your email daily?: My work email I obviously check every weekday since that’s part of my routine – but I keep it off-limits on weekends because boundaries; as for my personal email, I check it probably once a week.
Have you ever used a whole tube of chapstick or do you usually lose it before doing so?: I don’t use lip balm.
When did you last wash your hands?: Around an hour ago after using the washroom.
Do you enjoy being outside in the rain?: I love the rain, but I don’t like being stuck in it – like I hate having to drive while it’s pouring hard. It’s only calming to me when I happen to be safe indoors.
What are some lyrics to the last song you listened to?: "On a day you hate being yourself, on a day you want to disappear forever, let’s build a door in your mind. Once you open the door and enter, this place will wait for you, it’s okay to believe the magic shop that will comfort you.”
Do you ever read the newspaper or get all your news online or television? Online. It was never a habit of mine to read the newspaper.
Have you ever watched a meteor shower?: No, they are never visible here.
Does the number 8 have any significance to you? No, it doesn’t.
Who has the best hair that you know?: A person I work with has naturally curvy hair that I find really pretty.
Have you ever been to an aquarium?: Yeah, I’ve been to the one in Manila. I'm 100% sure I’ve also gone to an aquarium abroad, but I can’t remember which country it was.
Are you currently happy?: Yeah, I’m generally a happy person as long as you take out the work aspect of my life. I can’t wait to get that shit all sorted out, lmao.
What’s a reason for your happiness?: Self-love and contentment is a big part of it.
Is there a light on in the room you’re in?: Yes.
Do you know anyone that has a birthday today?: Yeah, it’s Kaye’s birthday today! She was supposed to host a birthday dinner this weekend and invited me to it, but last Thursday she told me she was going to hold it off for now since med school got a bit too hectic. Anyway, I’m just waiting for the rescheduled date but I’m definitely going to be there; I’ve really appreciated how she’s seemingly come out of nowhere to be closer with me the past few months and I’d love to be able to celebrate her day with her.
Have you ever been to a car show? I don’t think so. I’m trying to remember if my dad has brought me to one in the past, but my memory is coming up blank so it’s most likely a no. Do you like grocery shopping?: Sure. It can be tempting to put a bunch of snacks in the cart though haha but otherwise I find the experience pretty calming.
Have you ever been in a play?: We held school productions every year and participating in them was mandatory, so yup. I’ve never been in a play voluntarily though – I’m not a theatre person.
Can you see a mirror from where you’re at?: Nopes.
Do you have a large or small backyard?: I’d say it’s somewhere in the middle. It doesn’t like, lead to a forest or anything like that lmao but it’s also definitely not cramped. We’ve hosted parties there a few times that comfortably fit a good number of people.
Do you like blueberries? I like some blueberry-flavored things, but not the fruit.
What’s your favorite flavored water?: I don’t like flavored water.
If given opportunity, would you go to outer space?: Continued from last Sunday. Yes, I would. I don’t think the astronaut in me ever died out.
Do you own a record player?: Nah. It’s been part of my wishlist forever, but I just never get around to getting one. I have nowhere to place it in my room anyway so I’m not too bothered.
Has religion ever come between you and somebody?: Yeah. I remember when my ex had some sort of epiphany about religion and suddenly gave God a chance, and that definitely led to a bit of a fallout between us. If I remember correctly it got resolved when we agreed to just never raise the topic of religion and to let each other discover and explore our spirituality on our own – which honestly should’ve already been a blaring red flag.
When did you last have an important conversation with someone?: A few nights ago.
Does caffeine cause you to get shaky? When I’ve had one too many cups. I’m used to drinking 2 full cups at most, and last Sunday when I had 3 it already made my body start freaking out lol. Head was ringing, stomach kept doing somersaults, I took too many trips to the toilet, the whole shebang. Not pleasant at all.
Is there a scar on your body that you can’t explain? No. I know where each of them came from.
Have you ever accidentally shut your finger up in a door?: Fortunately, no.
What would you say that most people know you for?: Never shutting up about BTS.
What’s your favorite kind of juice?: Idk, let’s just go with orange since I’m most likely to take a sip of that.
Do you have any stuffed animals?: Does Tata count as a stuffed animal? Hahaha I have two. What are you up to today?: I mean it’s 11:43 PM, so all there is left for me to do really is to wrap this survey up and start preparing to turn in.
Do you wear hats often?: Yeah, I wear bucket hats like 8 out of 10 times I’m outdoors.
Do you have any nieces or nephews? Not yet. Waiting for my friends and cousins to give me ‘em ;) Hahaha.
Do you own a religious book?: No.
Have you ever owned a wreck it journal?: Nah. As a teen, unsurprisingly, I really wanted to collect them – but I think even younger me subconsciously knew that I had no creativity to show for those journals, so I never actually ended up buying any versions of it.
What did you last purchase?: A bunch of party stuff for the BTS Busan concert this Saturday. Y’ALL I got a bunch of purple balloons, a purple set and a rainbow set of streamers, and this giant-ass gold ‘7′ balloon lol it’s crazy. I’m ready for this week to end because the first thing I’ll most definitely be doing is to dress the living room up.
What was a celebrity you liked as a kid?: Beyoncé. Still do.
What did you last eat that was spicy?: Ramyeon.
Have you ever had tofu?: Yes, love tofu.
Would you or have you ever held a snake?: I wouldn’t own one as a pet, but I have held snakes before.
Do you peel your apples before eating them?: I just don’t eat apples, period.
Do you season your food a lot?: I don’t cook, but I mean yeah I definitely prefer my food with lots of seasoning because that’s what helps food be more delicious. If I find something a bit bland, Knorr seasoning always helps.
Do you ever light incense? No. I never encounter incense anywhere unless I’m at church and they bring out that contraption thingy that releases the incense smoke.
Is there anything you’d like to say to someone?: Sorry I’ve been a shitty replier, I haven’t been up to talking the past few days but I’ll get back to you soon.
What are you currently wearing?: A white t-shirt with the print of a past viral tweet, and a pair of shorts.
Have you ever gotten up in the middle of the night just to talk to someone?: Grossly enough, yup.
What was the last social event you went to?: A PR event for one of the brands I handle.
Do you use the word “like” excessively? When spoken, yeah pretty often.
What are your thoughts on horse races? I don’t see the appeal.
Do you watch The Simpsons or any other cartoons?: Nope, not really big on cartoon series.
Do you find tattoos attractive?: Not as much as when I was younger.
If you have a car, does it have a name? My parents have given it a name but I never use it haha. I just refer to it by its model name - Mirage.
Why did you last see a doctor?: Haven’t been to the doctor since my UTI diagnosis two years ago. I did go to the dentist a couple of months ago to get a wisdom tooth extracted.
Do you get light headed after getting blood drawn?: I’ve never gotten my blood drawn and don’t think I will ever be up for it, lol.
What did you first think of this morning?: I thought of how loud Cooper was barking, then immediately fell back asleep.
When did you last cry?: LOL earlier watching this emotional video that one of my accounts will be releasing this weekend on their social media.
What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen today?: Run BTS flying yoga episode hahahahaha
Have you ever been snorkeling? Sure!
Are you clumsy? Continued ages later; holy shit is this survey long lol. Yeah. I’m not as clumsy as I used to be, but I will sometimes still knock cups of water over, trip over air, lose my balance, accidentally slam doors, etc.
Do you prefer satin, cotton, or flannel sheets?: Cotton.
What’s your favorite kind of jam/jelly?: Guava, since that’s the one I’m most familiar with. I’m generally not a fan of jam.
What’s on your bedside table currently?: I have my lamp, earphones, company ID, a couple of ballpens, and ointment.
What’s the best compliment you’ve received recently?: Angela was telling me how this new top I bought suits me really well.
What’s some things you always make sure to pack before going on a trip?: My phone and laptop (and their chargers) and underwear are pretty much my only must-haves. Everything else, I wouldn’t be too bothered if I realize I’ve forgotten to bring them with me.
What’s one of your strengths?: Looking after people.
Have you ever spent more than $100 on a pair of shoes?: Yup.
Would you say you’re an impulsive person? A lot less than I used to be, but yeah I still have my tendencies sometimes.
What have you last been diagnosed with?: UTI, but this was forever ago.
What’s something that makes you quirky?: Idk, maybe some of my habits when it comes to food. Admittedly I’m pickier than I think I am, like the way I absolutely have to peel the skin off fried chicken so I can save it for last, or the way I have a particular ‘trail’ I follow when eating a burger haha.
What types of cheese do you consume the most?: I’d say mozzarella.
Do you purchase extended warranties on your electronics? No.
What was the last restaurant you ate at? I don’t remember the name of the place but it was this wings place in BGC right after we had a pitch. It was the only spot that didn’t have a waiting list and we needed to have lunch immediately so we could go back to work, so we ended up there. It was good! I had this unique dish of theirs that was basically a love child of boneless chicken and pizza lol.
What was the last sweet beverage you had?: Caramel macchiato, last night.
Do you believe in psychic ability? I do not.
Have you ever won any carnival games before?: Not that I can recall.
What was the last fun thing you did?: Watching the BTS Busan concert! Yesterday was PERFECT. I had my place completely dressed up with a ridiculous amount of balloons, and I had these cute and colorful streamers on the walls too and even a giant purple ‘7’ balloon. Six friends came over and it was basically a screaming and singing fest for the whole 1.5 hour show, and it was just so so so so so SO much fun; I was so giddy the entire time and still am haha.
Do you wear glasses?: I do.
What song did you last have on repeat?: Run BTS.
When did you last have pizza delivered?: Yesterday;  it was one of the things I had delivered for our watch party.
What do you normally pay for your hair cuts?: Trims are usually just P100 where I live.
What’s your favorite decoration in your place of residence?: The coffee table we have in the living room - because my late grandpa made it.
How many computers/laptops are in the building you’re in?: Three.
Have you ever been to a rodeo?: Nope.
What frosting goes best on cake?: Chocolate or cream cheese.
How long does it take you to get ready? 15-30 minutes, depending on how indecisive I am on my outfit for the day.
Do you do some form of exercise daily?: No.
Have you ever won a big prize for something?: I’ve won the bigger prizes in a couple of raffles.
Do you think it’s true that good things come to those who wait?: Yeah, but I am also in the belief that you have to actively work hard for those good things to actually be closer to you.
Do you show your feelings?: Sometimes, but I feel like I am more reserved these days. I only show my frustrations and whatnot to people I’m really close to and comfortable with.
Have you ever held a chicken?: I don’t think I have.
Would you rather feel too much or nothing at all?: Too much.
Are you hard to please?: Nopes.
What is today’s date?: October 16.

Personally, I remember all of escaping expulsion pretty well. I didn’t mind how Odalia and Alador were presented at this point, but that’s mainly because I thought they would expand on them. Have them represent two major forms of parental abuse, of course they didn’t. they just scapegoat Odalia and make her cartoonishly stupid, while pretending that Alador didn’t go along with her stuff in the flashback.
Using a kid thing was also fine to me. One because Odalia saw Luz as a threat to her authority over Amity, which is bad long term. Two because it was an illegal (according to the GG) underground sale and the Boiling Isles has shown it is pretty brutal, one of the beast hunters gushing about hurting children, teachers getting very excited over toddlers fighting, so it seemed within the realm of possibility that appealing to the customers sadism would be smart. In fact it was arguably one of the last times we see this more brutal side of the Isles.
I agree they should have had more buildup to Amity rebelling. Heck I wouldn’t have minded Amity standing up here if there was a bit of AFTER, so ‘yes Amity rebels here because Luz will literally die if she doesn’t’ but then show that she still defers to her parents or something, have her go ‘I will succeed and be successful like you want, but I don’t want you deciding who I can hang out with anymore.’ Or have Odalia show some genuine affection, but have it be tied with the classic ‘this is for your own good.’
Finally, TO BE FAIR, Luz does show herself experimenting with a load of combos… they just… never get used… ok nevermind that makes it worse.
So… before I get into any of the main points of your post, which are good and show that with some faith, you can see possibility from this episode without being unreasonable. But… I actually have to admit something. Something that, also like your points, the show has made me forget as it doubles down on all the problems that this episode has. This episode honestly only gets more catastrophic the more time that has passed.
But… I should be fair and say that part of why I hate this episode is bias. S1 gave a lot of interesting ideas and questions but very few answers. But my biggest work was mostly written between S1 and 2. Eventually, I had to make stuff up of my own and even from go I had.
And the two biggest elements? The ones I might also be most proud of besides what I did with Boscha? Luz's magic and the Blight family. And I could do an entire blog, EACH, on how I did them in Power of Love and why I did them that way.
And then comes Escaping Expulsion entirely eviscerating anything I did and in a way that I consider fairly lazy and lackluster. Like… It's just not a great episode even if you remove bias. Is it literally the worst? In a bubble, probably not. My worst three episodes are for what they do to the series as a whole, which again, the show only made a stronger case for being a severe negative the more time that has passed.
But I do need to properly acknowledge that I'll never be able to judge this episode entirely on its own merits because of my work with fanfiction for the show and wish I had done before.
Anyways. I've talked about just how bad the Blight parents are and how disinteresting they are in the end. One by being so bluntly, cartoonishly evil that it feels from another decade and makes no sense in a show trying to be smarter and the other by being so wishy washy in characterization and role that… I find him just boring. Boring and useless because it doesn't ever actually pay off. This was just when it began.
So I would argue that the sale itself was entirely legit. It seemed to just be a press event like E3 or the like for video games. What made it illegal was the nature of the abomaton being able to be used as a personal soldier and by how Odalia and Alador react, that thought had not crossed their mind. Bare minimum, not for the purpose of an army. It was genuinely seen as "Have one abomaton in every household to keep you and your valuables safe!"
And… I do agree that it can feel very Isles to use a kid for the demonstration. As time has passed that is eviscerated because there ARE child safety laws in the Isles apparently, and always have been, and S2 Isles just feels different. It doesn't feel the same way S1 did where it is unilaterally cruel. It is just bad players now which is far less interesting and hurts S1 making any sense. The two are just incompatible.
I guess the real problem is that it's so off the mark of what real marketing would look like for this (especially a human. Cool, you murdered this magicless child who keeps somehow casting magic with paper. Get in an actual abomination mage again and then we can be impressed) that it just bothers me. Again, that's the bias as much as anything else talking. That or just hating the fact that Odalia is so evil as to murder a child, especially while knowing that it might genuinely devastate Amity.
Like… When we talk about Odalia being a bad mother, it feels more like her family is an excuse to her more than literally anything else. She is PURE evil with them.
For the Amity stuff, I think that's a reasonable level of complexity to want for a main supporting character like Amity. The Blights were never going to be as complex as I made them, that would have probably hurt the show honestly even without the shortening. But… Something. Literally anything to not make it such basic, lazy garbage that is then thrown away would have been nice.
I said this yesterday I think but there really is something be said about how much of Amity's character was DESIGNED to be thrown away once the shock value was gone so that any obstacle or contrast to Luz could be removed as quickly as possible. And very rarely is it satisfying to see.
And finally the combo glyphs. We get lip service about her working on combos like… twice besides when she just introduces having made one without a real explanation for how. The only time we see a myriad of combos is when she's checking out the ones Philip made which don't look so complex as to have not accidentally been made by Luz already by then. Just saying, especially with how much time supposedly passes. It's… functional. That is the best thing I can say about it.
But kind of like how little the portal actually feels important to Luz in most episodes of the show, how little effort is put into it and how only one real episode of S2B is spent on trying to even further making the portal… It just comes off as shallow. You made this a big deal before then deciding it wasn't but you haven't even tried to give an excuse to the audience as to why it's important. So you can say that Luz is working on glyphs but if we never actually see that… We only have her word to believe.
And we all know how much Luz likes to lie to make herself look better and make things easier on herself. And I'd maybe argue the show has a habit of it itself.

Please Kind Miss, we have more radio host Billy facts. Think of the children.
Oh those poor children, I suppose I can feed them a little more.
- Billy loves being on the radio, being able to connect and potentially even help people he can't see. He's always wanted to help people and sometimes being a literal superhero doesn't feel enough. Sometimes it takes talking about social problems and providing resources for desperate people for him to feel like he's making a difference.
- Billy fakes having some chronic illness (is it IBS? Anemia? Asthma? who knows his story always changes) to explain why he needs to suddenly leave the station for Captain Marvel duties. His listeners and Whiz Radio are very concerned on what could cause a seemingly perfectly healthy 12 year old to leave in a hurry and not be in contact for 4 days. The station reruns old recordings when Billy is absent.
- Despite it being one of his more popular segments, Bill really doesn't like talking to fellow heroes. Not only does the threat to his identity make him nervous but it bothers him that people tune in for the celebrity appeal of superheroes while ignoring the things Billy really wants to talk about. He loves interviewing ordinary folks, Dr. Kandrish from the local medical clinic, Bob from Bob's Easy Junk Removal, Dana the impassioned psych major, Norton who runs the popular corner store. Those are the stories he really wants to tell.
-Captain Marvel pretends not to have a radio, to not knowing what one IS in order to get out of being interviewed. He's asked the wizard a hundred times for duplication magic only for the old man to huff in aggravation.
- As much as Bruce enjoys the show, something about the Batson boy sets him on edge. He's been in the business too long to know when someone has a secret, when the facts aren't adding up. All his research tells him the kid is just another tragic, but terribly kind young orphan hoping to eek out a living but something about the way the boy speaks sparks a memory he can't name.
- Bill makes a decent amount of money for his radio hosting (not as much as he should since he's getting paid illegally under the table for being a minor but to a kid who has nothing it's a banquet). He's able to regularly afford food and rent a small apartment with working water and electricity. It's the little things that make a difference.
- Spends a lot of his free time doing research for the show, talking to the locals about issues and making sure he has all his facts straight before going on air. If he does talk about heroes, about things he learned through the League, he makes sure he can verify that info through other sources before talking about it. He doesn't want to tip his hand.
- A big source of info is Lois Lane. Once Clark introduced Lois to the show she was obsessed. She loves to send him tips and information that she can't necessarily print about. He has a standing offer to work at the Daily Planet as soon as he's legal. She is one of the many adults who wants to take Billy home to his absolute mortification. Lois and Clark bicker on who would be his new parent.

Hypochondriac MC - Headcanon
Arcana Characters (Main 6) x MC
A/N: this one is for @staticvirtues! Just to make this clear, I am in no way a medical professional, and I have 0 experience dealing with hypochondria. I did some research, but I know that misinformation can be easily spread through the internet, so please don’t take any of these seriously. Also, if anything I say is blatantly wrong, please let me know so I can change is asap. This is a serious condition, and I don’t want to spread false information. Requests are open, and please let me know if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes!
❤️Julian❤️
As a doctor, he’s probably the most prepared to help you with your condition
He understands what hypochondria is before he meets you, so he picks up on the signs of it before you even tell him
He’s super understanding about it, and makes sure to never invalidate your feelings and anxieties
While he knows that professionally examining anything that you’re worried about every single time your worried is probably a bad choice, he’s also a softy and a pushover who will usually cave in and check anyway
If it’s not something that’s causing you major anxiety, though, he will try to refuse, even though he knows it can upset you
He genuinely isn’t trying to invalidate you; he just knows, from a medical perspective, that the chances of developing the issues you are worried you may have are incredibly low
If you’re someone who’s anxiety lessens with logic, he’d be more than happy to provide you with an abundance of facts to ease your find
He’s memorized dozens of statistics proving just how tiny the chances of developing a serious condition are
Not to mention, he’s quick to help you find medication to help you keep the anxieties lowered (and even if the first medication doesn’t work, he’ll keep trying to find you the right one that doesn’t have any negative side effects for as long as it takes)
He sometimes struggles to find a balance between helping you as a doctor, and helping you as your partner, but he’s trying his best to help you and show that he loves you unconditionally
🧡Portia🧡
Has absolutely no clue what hypochondria is, or how to help, so she’ll probably ask Julian
She doesn’t like doing anything that upsets you, but she also knows that enabling your anxieties is a good choice, so she usually tries to distract you
And by distract you, I mean the ultimate distractions, during which you will be so preoccupied by what’s happening that you won’t have a single brain cell to spare
If her distractions don’t work though, and your anxiety is too high to calm down, she’ll take you to Julian, who will check to make sure you’re alright
She’ll also help you find the right medication to help you out
Eventually, if you start going to Julian too often, she’ll have him give her a list of reassuring facts or statistics that she can pull out to reference
She also likes to point out that you’re magic, so being ill in any way is probably against some magic law, so you’ll probably never get sick because of that
Does she know anything about magic or its laws? No. Will that stop her from making up a bunch of universal rules to help you? No.
She doesn’t really know what she’s doing, and she often feels guilty because of that, but she’s trying her best every day to help you feel okay
💛Lucio💛
Also had no idea what hypochondria was before meeting you, but that was because he’s pretty much the opposite
He’s pretty much convinced that he’s immortal and nothing can harm him (despite literally dying of the plague before), and is also therefore convinced that the same logic applies to you
Will assure you that diseases are illegal in the palace, so you have nothing to worry about (no, he’s not dumb enough to actually believe that, but he likes the way it makes you laugh and seem a bit more relaxed)
Attempts to put more safety and cleanliness laws into affect to ensure you feel safer no matter where you are in Vesuvia
He’s the most likely to cave to your desires to see a doctor whenever you don’t feel well
Actually assigns you a personal doctor to help you whenever you need
He’s not a big fan of addressing the root of the problem, but he figures if it’s super easy to address the symptoms, then it should be fine
Your life in the palace is a comfortable one, and Lucio is dedicated to removing any triggers
Whenever you attend a social event, he makes sure all guests in attendance have a list of topics to avoid so they don’t accidentally trigger you
💚Muriel💚
While he doesn’t really understand your anxieties, he’s willing to help you manage them
He knows what it’s like to feel constantly uncomfortable and panicky— albeit around people— and he’s upset that you feel the same way about factors outside your control
Tries to learn some spells and makes some charms to provide health and protect against ailment
Makes sure you have a couple on hand at all times
He doesn’t really know that much about medicine and general health from a logical perspective, so if you really think you need to see a doctor, he will absolutely take you to one
But first he’ll always look for a more reasonable explanation for why you’re feeling a certain way
Like if you have any pains, he’ll ask if you tripped or bumped into something the other day, and if the answer is yes, then he’ll state that that’s the cause in a tone that leaves no room for any other possibilities
💙Asra💙
He’s known about your hypochondria for a long time, so reasonably he should know how to deal with it
However, after the plague, he’s a bit paranoid
Luckily, you don’t have to constantly visit a doctor, because he’s spent quite a lot of time learning how to make various potions and spells to heal and protect
The entire shop is covered in charms and runes that ward against any potential threats to your well-being
Furthermore, the connection you two share will often help him to recognize when something’s genuinely wrong
If it’s something you’re irrationally worrying about, he’s quick to tell you it’s not real, and seeing as he has a legitimate means of knowing, it’s easy to believe him
But if something is even slightly off, you won’t even have a chance to worry, because he’s using his magic to fix you up immediately
He’ll also regularly provide potions to help you with your anxiety if you don’t want, or can’t have, regular medication
Whatever makes you most comfortable; he’ll find a way to help you in the way you like best
💜Nadia💜
Finally, someone who actually knew what hypochondria was before you met her
She had had a phase in her earlier life wherein she learned everything she could about mental health, and psychology in general, as she found it to be an interesting and useful topic, so while her knowledge may be a bit outdated, it’s in abundance
She doesn’t want to restrict your access to a doctor in any way, but she also wants to lower your dependence on the validation of others to lower your anxieties
She compromises with the agreement that initially you will be able to see a doctor once a week at any time, and, eventually, the period of time will become larger as you become more comfortable
She makes sure you’re on a type of medication that you’re comfortable with, and asks that you tell her if you have any problems with it at any time
She also ensures the staff have a list of potential triggers to avoid when around you
The palace is incredibly safe and clean as is, but she makes sure to double down on any more ambiguous sections
If you have more general anxieties about how you’re living your day-to-day life with how it’ll affect you in the long-run, Nadia will find you a variety of professionals who will work with you until you’re comfortable with how you’re living your life without cutting out the more enjoyable parts

How did Faragonda and Griffin met? They seemed to have been closed in the past because after Griffin worked with Valtor Faragonda still trusted her and Griffin was there when Faragonda gets her Enchatix. I can conclude that they have known each other at least since their school days but what happened after that? How did Faragonda react at Valtor? Their reactions when they rrealizedthey have to fight eachother? Why did griffin seem mad at faragonda in season one?
I have so many theories about those years but I'd be really interested to know what you think about it.
Take you time, I know how stressful some days can be
Lots of Love <3
I just want to preface this by saying that I am going to give you the events as they are in my rewrite. Most of that could be considered canon compliant as well but the one major difference is that in my rewrite Faragonda never got Enchantix because that transformation works in a fairly different way than it does on the show and there is simply no way for Faragonda to have earned it because of the way her life went and her family situation. I don't think she mourns that, though.
You have pointed out something very important already - that Faragonda trusted Griffin even after her time with the Coven which is major because Griffin was a literal magical terrorist. Even the closest of friendships can be strained by something like that. Not to mention that Faragonda was there and actually saw Griffin commit atrocities right in front of her eyes which is very different from just hearing about it. My explanation for that is that they didn't just know each other since they were young, they grew up together. So here's the thing:
Faragonda was born in a very powerful witch family that basically controls an entire planet in the same solar system where Zenith (Tecna's world) is. Faragonda was definitely encouraged by her family to develop magic from a very young age which is illegal but who's gonna tell them anything? The reason why it's illegal is that despite magic always coming in during childhood or not at all, children can't exercise proper control and it's dangerous for them to have magic, especially dark magic that is super volatile because it comes from negative emotions. So Faragonda's powers developed early on, before she even started going to school, but she couldn't control them at all. Her dark magic was powerful but very unstable because Faragonda mostly drew it from fear/anxiety/insecurity thanks to all the pressure she was under.
Because of her out of control powers, her mother decided to send her to a boarding school in the very faraway planet of Erebhus. Now if Andros is the first planet in its solar system, Erebhus is the fifth one there and it is known as the planet of the eternal sunset because all the water in it reflects the last rays of the sun during the entire night and the next day until the sun starts setting again and its rays are caught in the water surfaces all over again. The reason why her mother sent her all the way there is because the boarding school is a very old school that's famous for all the witch graduates they have so they understand witch psychology and can help Faragonda with the control of her powers. And that's where she meets Griffin because Griffin's mother also studied there and she enrolled Griffin, too.
They quickly become friends because Griffin has exceptional control of her magic and can help Faragonda deal with hers but Faragonda is better versed in magical politics all over the dimension so they both want to learn what the other knows and bond along the way. Griffin's mother uses magic to teleport from home to the school and back and so Griffin doesn't really spend the nights at the school which becomes a problem the closer they become since they want to spend more time together. They're kids, after all, despite all the serious stuff they're already dealing with. So Emalyn (Griffin's mom) contacts Faragonda's mom (still unnamed) and the two work things out so Faragonda can come and stay with Griffin's family during the weekends and later, even on school days. Faragonda's mom can tell Emalyn is a witch that knows what she's doing despite stepping away from the world of dark magic users a long time ago (she only uses her magic at home for everyday purposes) and she thinks being around her could benefit Faragonda's magical progress.
So Griffin and Faragonda grow up together but Faragonda doesn't really get that much better at controlling her magic. Emalyn is helping her with it (and so is Griffin) but she never pushes her the way Faragonda knows her mother would want her to be pushed and that creates constant anxiety that she's not making progress which gets in the way of progress. It's a vicious circle that keeps on spinning until it's time for high school and both Griffin and Faragonda sign up for Cloud Tower. Faragonda studies there for a couple months but things are just not right and it finally dawns on her that the reason why Emalyn wasn't pushing her to practice dark magic wasn't simply because she didn't want to stress her out. She could tell that Faragonda has an easier time channeling and controlling positive emotions which means she's better suited to be a fairy. She probably had a panic attack at the realization because she could just imagine the hell her mother's reaction would be but she couldn't pretend to be something she wasn't anymore.
She made the choice to join Alfea. Her family disowned her because of that. Griffin has a strong reaction, too, even if she does understand why Faragonda doesn't want to pretend to be something she's not but is struggling with the fact that Faragonda switched over to the socially acceptable kind of magic (the bias against dark magic is strong and planets where dark magic users such as Faragonda's family are in charge are an exception) and it's no longer them versus the world. She's upset because she's afraid Faragonda will start treating her the same way everyone else does.
The conflict between them escalates quietly with time since Faragonda tries to fit in more with the fairies which really ticks Griffin off because they are still mostly ambivalent towards Faragonda and she's basically falling into pretending to be something she's not despite trying to avoid exactly that. Faragonda meanwhile has had a taste of a completely different culture from the one she grew up in and some of it resonates with her but Griffin can't seem to accept that. Plus, she can see the similarities between fairies and witches that everyone else seems blind to and so she wants to become the next headmistress of Alfea (and this clearly has nothing to do with spiting her mother) to help bring fairies and witches together... to help bring her and Griffin together again. She thinks that maybe then Griffin will understand that she's been trying to bridge the gap between them all along. Griffin, in turn, wants to help dark magic users as a kind to be less ostracized so she decides to leave Magix because she feels like Faragonda is asking her for space and she doesn't want to be the one holding Faragonda back with her inability to reconcile with the change in Faragonda.
They part on good terms but with severe misconceptions about what the other is aiming to accomplish and that causes a festering bitterness between them that totally blows up in their faces when they meet on the battlefield. Now I'm thinking that they don't meet as soon as Faragonda joins the Company. In fact, Faragonda meets Valtor first on a mission that she gets involved in because her mother is a key player. So she's sent to Domino by the previous headmistress of Alfea - Mavilla. She wants to help even if she has to face her mother to retrieve and artifact the Coven (aka Griffin and Valtor) was trying to steal but it ended up with her mother. She convinces the woman to give it to her despite her mother's general neutrality on the Coven vs Company issue (she doesn't want to help light magic users and especially the Domino royalty but she will if it is the only way to stop the Coven from taking control of the universe because she doesn't want them to win). Faragonda just barely escapes from Valtor, though, who was on his way to stealing the artifact properly this time. He has no idea who she is and her untransformed appearance isn't remarkable enough that Griffin could gouge it was Faragonda from his description (Faragonda managed to teleport to Domino without transforming while her mother held Valtor off). And Faragonda gets asked whether Valtor was alone when she tells the Company what happened but something always happens and for weeks she can't get the full rundown on who exactly is Valtor's partner.
Until she and Griffin come face to face on a mission. Faragonda sees her first. She totally can't comprehend what she's seeing and freezes in place only for the effect to be exacerbated when she clearly sees the familiarity between Griffin and Valtor and it clicks that Griffin was who everyone was talking about when they mentioned Valtor's vengeful and hideously powerful partner. She can't believe Griffin would join him. Him whose entire purpose is to destroy all life that's inconvenient for the Ancestral Witches. She never believed Griffin would go that far in her quest to reinstate dark magic users as equals to light magic users. That's when Griffin also sees her and she has a similar reaction. Her worst fear aka Faragonda coming to the conclusion that fighting her is the right choice has come true when she left Faragonda behind just to make sure it won't happen. If she wasn't around to see Faragonda falling out of their friendship, she could keep her friend's warmth in her heart forever. But now that Faragonda is fighting alongside her enemies, Griffin is crushed.
They both get pulled away by Hagen and Valtor respectively and proceed to have a meltdown once they're out of danger. Faragonda reaches the conclusion that this is all Valtor's fault (let her have her delusion; it won't last long anyway) and Griffin reaches the conclusion that this is all the fault of the Council who have been using anti dark magic propaganda for centuries (a somewhat more accurate conclusion, though she's missing the part where Faragonda joined the Company to help them save lives). They both march back on the battlefield next time with the idea of making the other one see her mistake only to be very unpleasantly surprised when their misconceptions start to crack. Yes, Griffin is very much in love with Valtor but she's also the Griffin that Faragonda knows. It's not Valtor that changed her. And yes, Faragonda is on the enemy's side but she's still the good hearted, gentle friend that Griffin grew up with so it's not political propaganda that's brainwashed her. They have to deal with those realizations and figure out how to move on.
Griffin is more aggressive because she's convinced herself (not without help from Valtor) that she has to fight even Faragonda if she wants to not only achieve her goal, but also retain her freedom and even her life. She usually comes out on top simply because Faragonda isn't putting the same effort into fighting her but she can never bring herself to hurt Faragonda more than she'll be able to recover from. Especially since Faragonda isn't trying to hurt her. Her aggression only shows up against Valtor despite all the other Coven members that are trying to kill her (now why would you suggest that that's jealousy?). Faragonda hates the fact that he's Griffin's closest confidant now. She's sure none of that would have happened if she and Griffin had never parted ways. But she's not making that mistake twice. She'll stay until Griffin comes home with her or kills her. Griffin, on the other hand, knows Faragonda will never join her because she thinks Griffin has been made worse by her cooperation with the Coven but she will find a way to keep Faragonda safe even in the midst of battle until her plan succeeds and she can show her that she was right to fight for her goal.
The season 1 thing also stems from the whole issue with the Company vs Coven war. When the Trix came to CT three years prior to season 1, Griffin instantly connected them to the Ancestral Witches (it's quite obvious). She wasn't sure what to do because they were at the top of all applicants for CT and rejecting them could draw the attention of the Council to them and get them executed for being descendants of the Ancestral Witches even though they were just young girls. So she shared her dilemma with Faragonda because she trusted their friendship after they survived the war and fighting each other. However, Faragonda's reaction was the total opposite of what she'd expected. The second Faragonda heard of the Ancestral Witches again, she started having flashbacks to the destruction of Domino and Marion and Oritel's disappearance. That loss crushed her and it was only made worse when Hagen left to look for the pair and she blames it all on the Ancestral Witches (which is mostly fair but not entirely about the Hagen thing). Knowing how much the Trix resemble them is distressing and she wants Griffin to reject their applications even at the risk of them getting in trouble. Griffin has a severe reaction to that because if Faragonda is refusing to give a chance to three young girls that haven't done anything, then Griffin herself never deserved all the chances Faragonda gave her. She only gave them to her because of their friendship and Faragonda's clearly biased outlook on Griffin. So Griffin has a crisis of conscience where she's self-loathing and at the same time angry at Faragonda for not having the better judgment to just stay away from her. It feels like everything good she's done over the years crumbles in front of her eyes because she never deserved the chance she was given to even keep living and she distances herself from Faragonda because she's also distraught that Faragonda has changed. She never would've risked the lives of innocent girls like that in the past. So Griffin doesn't know what to think of herself or Faragonda and she does what she does best - self-sabotage.
I've actually written out a fic about this. It's called Left to Heritage.
