my head is literally spinning when I think about they put the beads in Frank and Frank is blatantly shown in this ep that he’s a bigot and appears to support queer community but the moment something he doesn’t deem normal happens he just bolts away from it. The meta in there is just insane they’re shitting on those no kinks at pride people they’re shitting on homophobes audience they’re shitting on the audiences who doesn’t like the queer story lines in the show. And the ep is about chess it’s structured and needs skill and patience just like doing anything that’s a long term effort. They put the macdennis beads in Frank they put the queer theme in the show. They used to just use a restuarant buzzer just inside of Frank’s pocket now they put the thing inside to make the scheme work. Frank doesn’t like it and by the end Dennis lost control of the beads when he’s fighting with Mac. Frank is screaming take it out take it out but the scheme worked and the ep doesn’t end with a typical sunny ending where the gang fuck themselves over; the scheme works and it’s a brilliant checkmate. They can control the themes in the show and it is going to work whether you like it or not.

Most 80s nostalgia obviously tends to focus on the red scare thing, but i don't think it was needed for stranger things. Especially the way they portrayed things in s3 and s4... well, i'd say they should have just left it alone without introducing something like that.

Literally. I think the US military and government were much better to explore because it means that their world is against them and also keeps the location central to Hawkins. It means our heroes not only have to battle Vecna but also an oppressive US government that is willing to screw over its citizens to the extent of letting a 12 year old boy and many others die. It plays into the themes that our characters are outcasts in some sort of way, with the system and individuals against them, and links into the Reaganism of the time too. Bullies in school and Ted may be smaller threats, but they're weapons of the same machine that would let children die and spread disinformation for the sake of keeping up appearances.

But hey, let's team up with the government now! Glad to know they support our heroes as long as they oppose the Russians.

It’s hard to focus on both of them at once.

i wanted to be done writing fanfiction for a while after LATBG, just leisurely working on the sequel miniseries, but now i have Ideas about a S3 St/eddie AU that doesn't take away much from any platonic St/obin scenes...

i feel like writing a story about the US getting invaded by russia instead of Ukraine-- in order to smack people in the face with the truth. maybe they would care if it were Americans.

--we could see what russians do from a first person POV. stories create empathy. sneak into people's hearts and create imagery they can't get out of their heads and make them feel possibly against their will, if they have feelings left.

of course I would like to show stories of Ukraine, but I don't know it well enough to write from their POV.

I want to uplift their stories somehow, but i want to do something as a fiction writer

just another day of me not understanding why stranger things (a show with very simple writing, a show that heavily relies on already existing content from the eighties, a very very predictable show that is just getting worse with each season), is so popular, when a show like the umbrella academy isn’t. like. the umbrella academy is SO freaking good. great soundtrack, great visuals, interesting characters and plots and!!!! in my opinion it’s so much better than stranger things in every sense of the word, yet…. it doesn’t get nearly as much love or talk??
