chocolate guy callout post

All the branding on his videos? the location he makes all this in? ‘the pastry academy’ ?

he co-founded that place in 2019... (just about around the time all those viral chocolate guy vids started circulating...) the ‘school’ is located in las vegas. his name is the one all over it, though. The academy offers 10-week courses and masterclasses. the 10 week course requires a 10%, non refundable deposit

as of right now, this is the deposit cost

which means the entire, ten week course (which must be entirely paid by 60 days prior to your start date) will cost you $20,000

well at least you’re being taught by the famous chocolate guy, right?!

not according to the site and not according to student accounts. according to this AMA as well as the squirrely language on the FAQ , he will teach about 3 weeks of the course.

at least hes a good teacher when he IS there, right?

according to that same AMA, who is clearly giving a positive tone, he is sarcastic, he curses frequently, and he tends to not explain what he’s doing, leaving students scrambling to keep up. that redditor provides multiple pictures from her time during the course in her history, so i’m inclined to believe her.

Housing is not provided, so you’re gonna have to find somewhere to stay near vegas for Ten Human Weeks, on top of the 20k you’ve dropped for the course. meals are not provided at any point, either.

will all this at least get students a good job?

the school does NOT provide references or find employment/interships, even in las goddamn vegas, where there are a million restaurants around the place. you CAN however, do an unpaid internship AT the academy <3

here’s my favorite part.

this isn’t a real diploma.

if you pay them, you will get a certificate, regardless of your demonstrated learned skill. this certificate is not accredited by anyone other than the pastry academy. you’re paying for amaury guichons name on a piece of paper. you’re paying for clout.

this is also, seemingly, how they can do things like this:

you’ll need a tourist visa- not a work or education visa. because it’s not a school, or college.

you can get an entire, real education, for more than ten weeks, for that much money.

oh, also, all those craaaazy, so viral so tiktokable sculptures? don’t you wish you could learn to make those?

all of those are also available as standalone, three-day classes! wow!

and they cost $2,500! boy wouldn’t it be crazy if those 20 sculptures that he can film being made and earn video ad revenue off of, while ALSO advertising for his college, if they could also be sold at corporate events orrr in his pastry shops across vegas as advertising pieces. yknow, stuff like that

they’re currently offering 6 10-week courses during 2023. the soonest three of them are booked up (20 students per class, 20k per student.) means he’s making 2.4 million per year off of those students ALONE. this does not include those three-day courses, his netflix deal (also great advertising for his school!), the normal products hes slapped his brand onto* , and selling sculptures to corporate events

*same material + volume for $23 less, though he buys them in bulk so its more like $25+ less. this is just one example, i JUST found this iste of his as i was making this post. i also saw just 50g of colored cocoa butter for the same price as 200g of the exact same product elsewhere.

i really like how all the characters in the assassin's blade returned later in the series. i feel like most prequels were published after the series, but the prequel for throne of glass wasn't. the assassin's blade wasn't just a prequel providing some context about celaena/aelin's backstory or simply some of her adventures, but an introduction to some characters from celeaena/aelin's past who return and have importance to the plot. ansel, who i originally dismissed as just a character who was meant to affect celaena/aelin's character development, came back as the queen of the wastes and an ally to aelin. i thought aelin's trip to the red desert was supposed to be for a mentor type of experience and for her to discover a little bit of honor and morals she has left. in reality, it was also meant to introduce the reader to the silent assassins, provide a bit of backstory, and give a reason why they had a life debt owed to aelin. i think sarah j. maas plans out the plot very well and has so much foreshadowing i (stupidly) dismiss.

Everytime Desmond goes in the animus " don't know if I spelled that right"

He really goes back in time like he sees ezio's birth and he actually is there!

It would be funny though if he was usually this figure clad in all white.

In Altaïr’s memories, Altaïr first assumed he was Kadar’s ghost, come to haunt him for his actions that led to his death. That’s why he ignored him, not wishing to talk to Kadar at all. Desmond spent his entire time with Altaïr not realizing that he was talking to him because he called him Kadar. Desmond thought Altaïr was talking to a dead person as some form of grief.

And…

The first time Altaïr turned around to talk to him, it was during the time that the Apple showed them the map. Altaïr turned to finally confront ‘Kadar’ and to tell him that he would repent until Kadar is satisfied, only to stop dead in his tracks, eyes going wild when he finally sees Desmond’s face.

That’s when Vidic ends the session and Desmond couldn’t be entirely sure if Altaïr really did see him or if there was something or someone behind him.

Then…

Lucy pushed him into going to the Animus and he had to watch the ‘horrifying’ birth of a baby while everyone was too worried of Maria Auditore to notice him.

Until…

Giovanni entered the room.

And he saw the strange man clad in all white.

He grabbed the man’s wrist and…

His eyes widened as he recognized him as Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

That’s when the Animus pushed him out of the memory and Desmond couldn’t even tell Lucy about it because they were suddenly leaving the facility.

Hello assassin au~ May I ask for a scenario of how they all meet MC? See her form a distance and become awestruck and hold their chest as an arrow pieces it? (I mean, the don’t have hearts so I’m fine with giving mine)

Sans: He started catching feelings when he began stalking her in his attempt to find the easiest and most convenient way to strike. Usually, following his hit just feels like looking for breaks in armour, but learning everything about her... it made him grow attached. He started looking for completely unrelated pieces of information about her that would serve no logical purpose for conducting a killing. He liked her journalistic integrity, her charming naivete, her deep empathy... he liked her taste in home decor, how she dressed, the kinds of food she cooked. The little noise of frustration she’d make when she felt like she wasn’t being listened to. He likes the mask he chose for being around her- the lazy, easygoing neighbour that no one would suspect.

Normally, he keeps away from the target until the last moment, but he finds himself slowly inserting into her life. Sans doesn’t trick himself into believing he’s a good person, but he has a code- a set of ‘ethics’ he follows, which absolutely includes not becoming personal with his victims.

... And, well... if he can’t resist getting personal... maybe he should reconsider her being a victim.

Red: Red already had some Feelings stirring in his big ol’ chest when he got his information on her. She looked all cute and unaware in the pictures he found, but a bounty is a bounty. However... once he saw her in person, in that crowded bar, he felt the little lurch of ‘i dunno if i really wanna do it’ become a resolute i won’t do it. Since Red is the only one of the three who has no qualms about getting personal with his kills, he’s staggered by his sudden reluctance, lost in thoughts about what they could be together. It was something of a love at first sight moment, though it wasn’t entirely pleasant for him- in amongst all the fluffy sensations, the thought that he had been planning on hurting her made him feel physically ill.

Rather than kill her in a back alley like he planned, he quietly (without her knowledge) escorted her back to her home. Just... making sure she’s safe. There’s a bounty on her head, after all- he’s gotta be sure no lowlives hunt her down.

Skull: Skull first saw her down the barrel of his gun.

Skull is a sniper partly because he’s so naturally good at it, ruthlessly patient and intelligent, but also partly because it makes him feel a sense of control. Humans caused him unimaginable suffering and loss over his lifetime, and now, he gets to instantly and distantly end lives. Although it does give him that temporary rush of power, it also has slowly but surely made him cold and disconnected, numb to everything. Sans and Red let themselves get their hands dirty but Skull remains distant- from both his kills, and himself. Floating in an emotional vacuum.

Seeing her... the feelings she gave him suddenly sent him reeling, crashing back down to Earth. He felt connection again. Skull isn’t exactly a chatty killer, nobody bats an eye when he vanishes for weeks on end- even the people who hire him. So he camps in an empty apartment opposite hers, his lights off and curtains drawn, watching her daily life through a scope. Sitting in a cold abandoned apartment for hours on end was never fun for any of his hunts... but when he watches her, it’s okay, he feels warm again.

It’s ironic that the closest he’s ever felt to anyone in years is still with a separation of almost 100ft.
