Hello! I am super excited to announce the cover art for my new maribat series, wish upon a moonstone. It’s a Daminette Hogwarts AU, though no prior knowledge of the universe is needed. I’ve been planning this since the beginning of the year, so I hope you’ll all enjoy it! I’ll be posting character profiles and extras alongside the chapters, all of which can be accessed using the masterlist above.

The room is modelled according to the potions classrooms in the series and the signature arches of Hogwarts architecture. The jars in the back are all full of real ingredients in the Harry Potter universe, so props to anyone who can figure them out! There’s a bat wing in there as a nod to Batman. The potion in the cauldron is amortentia, a love potion known for its mother-of-pearl sheen and distinct swirls, and on the table are common ingredients of love potions: peppermint, rose petals, and moonstone, also known as the wishing stone.

He did consider it weird at first that she had a slight french accent unlike her father’s Liverpool accent although she pronounced some words like he does.

He also connected some dots that she is also the Parisian heroine, Lady Rouge who Wonder Woman introduced to the League a while back and had declined to join the Young Justice or Teen Titans until everything in Paris was resolved.

They never developed a father-daughter relationship - neither particularly wanted one - but the mentor-mentee one worked out very well for them, and it did help both of them improve as people and ‘professionals’.

Marinette gave John a ladybug charm that she made, endowed with a lot of luck, since she know he has a dangerous job, though she never told him about what it can actually do. He doesn’t know about her being Ladybug and she likes it like that.

Lila Rossi: Hogwarts AU

Lila Rossi is a Pureblood witch that was born on the 1st of April 1978 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1989, being sorted into Slytherin house.

She has a Dogwood wand with a Dragon Heartstring Core.

Her Patronus is a Kitsune.

Her favorite subject is Transfiguration and her least favorite is Care of Magical Creatures.

She was one of the Slytherin Prefects in her year until she got expelled.

Lila is proud and loves attention, which she is willing to obtain with her pathological lying. This even means going beyond words to support her lies, like buying a necklace that looks like the Fox Pendent to convince Adrien that she is a descendant of the fox-themed witch or cause situations that can discredit whoever can threaten her lies. She gets jealous if someone gets more attention or love than her and doesn't like it when someone reveals that her lies aren't true, showing no remorse for lying in the first place. If anyone attempts to expose her, she won't hesitate to try to make them miserable or break them down just to get them out of her way. She also doesn't take advice from those who try to make peace with her or encourage her to be honest like Ladybug or Adrien. At first glance, it appears that the reason why she acts like this is probably because her mother is away a lot with her busy job schedule, making Lila feel disheartened and using lies to cover up that loneliness to her mother and others that are around her.

Lila doesn't easily forgive people who she feels wronged her, as she is still furious at Ladybug for ratting her out harshly and ruining her chance to woo Adrien. Aside from being adept at lying, her desire for vengeance is so great that Gabriel Agreste decided to form a formal alliance with her, not just to put her under the Imperius Curse.

Lila is also not afraid to get her enemies' friends against them by manipulating and lying to them, portraying her enemy as the villain, and not having any care for the consequences that her lies may have on others, as she doesn't feel any remorse after almost causing some of her classmates and teachers to be put under the Imperius Curse after blaming Marinette of cheating, hurting her and steal her necklace to turn everyone against her.

Another example of this is shown when she lies and manipulates Kagami into thinking Marinette is a bad person.

Due to her talent to create the most convincing lies, Lila is extremely intelligent and observative, being able to notice the most subtle details, especially when she is motivated by her hatred and grudge.

Similar to Félix, Lila was able to deduce Gabriel Agreste was Monarch and used that information in her favor, manipulating the dark wizard for her gain, like convincing him to put Kagami under the Imperius Curse again to separate Adrien and Marinette.

The extension of her lies goes further than her school and social life, as they also extend into her family life. It's revealed that Lila has at least three identities, along with three different mothers, keeping them ignorant of the existence of each other by making them believe she does a lot of travel around the world due to works such as acting and conservation of endangered species.

As Volpina, her personality is still intact, while additionally determined to get revenge on Ladybug. Wanting to make Ladybug suffer, she nearly convinced Ladybug to give up her earrings twice, almost tricking her with illusions of people she threatened to hurt, such as civilians like Adrien.

As Chameleon, because she was put under the Imperius Curse voluntarily, her personality remains the same, using her powers to get even with the ones that she believes wronged her. For example, she took Adrien's form to make him look bad and at the same time to lead Ladybug into a "trap". Her desire to defeat Ladybug is so great that she would rather advance to battle her than take an unconscious Cat Noir's ring to Hawk Moth.

As Hoaxer, her vengeful personality becomes much more intense, as she uses her power to convince everyone that Marinette is Monarch to turn them against her, as well as convincing them that Ladybug and Cat Noir are dark wizards that will destroy the ozone layer to defeat them, as the duo wouldn't use their powers against civilians. Not just that, but Hoaxer showed to be very intelligent, keeping herself inside the system of the Alliances to avoid physical confrontation and even using her pursue over the teenagers to keep Monarch distracted and prevent him from realizing the vengeance she was about to enact on him by manipulating Nathalie to deliver her all of his secrets.

Hello! I just finished your story “Lucky Us”, and MY GOD IN HEAVEN that was fantastic. It was a bold move making the ending to the fashion competition the way you did, but it was worth it. And the way you delayed Adrien talking to Marinette post-reveal? Ingenious! You write some truly wonderful interactions between LadyNoir and the fluff is just, GAH.

Chloe is such a layered character here, I truly appreciate that. My only criticism is some minor plot points with her (her previous run in with cancer, for instance) are “hidden” behind previous Tumblr posts of yours. Which, the a/n at each chapter tends to clear up, but yeah!

Also, I felt some level of justice given that, much like Adrien, I cannot STAND the Horrificator episode. Even if Mylène and Ivan are adorable! The overly blatant pastiche of Alien alongside the complete refusal of any actual horror just kills me on the inside.

Enough gushing (I could do a lot more though, this was a truly fun story and has paw-sitively given me some new pun op-purr-tunities), now for the ask!

In Ch30 you say Marinette is going to meet with a “Lila”, is this meant to be the same Lila as we know in the show? How is she different in this AU as the one we know in canon, at least given what we knew back in S1? And how would you have preferred her character to go in canon?

To answer the Lila question, in the Lucky Us universe, she's just a nice gal with a definite Slytherin streak in her---which is why her and Marinette get along so well. I only wrote her into the story because she either is Italian or claimed to be Italian. (It's been a while. I forget.)

Canon Lila was a favorite of mine because I believed she should have been the main villain of Miraculous Ladybug. Gabriel had a motive that could have made him sympathetic. Chloe was, at the time, on her way to a redemption arc (and I'm never going to stop being mad about how they did her dirty). Lila showed no remorse for her lies and had that beautifully creepy transition from smiling and waving to no emotion whatsoever. She's the villain ML deserves.

OMG TUMBLR WHYYYYY. So I was 90% done writing my response and then it refreshed. Uggggh okay, starting over.

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

Okay, I am an angst glutton (with a happy ending, but I can handle pure angst too), and my guilt pleasure is amnesia. You get to experience losing someone without actually losing them, missing someone who is right in front of you, intense yearning, and falling in love all over again.

Though recently, I discovered a new trope I didn't KNOW I was super into, which is temporary character death. Like, wait, you get the pure, pure angst of a major character dying...BUT THEN THEY COME BACK?! AHHHH sign me up! (Miraculous Ladybug is so the place for this trope— @wackus-bonkus-maximus I AM TOTALLY LOOKING AT YOU — but I digress.)

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?

ADHKGKSL too many. I found an excel I created in May '21 and I had 27 WIPs. That's right, 27. Then I hit a major wall in writing that I am still in the slow process of crawling out of. I actually have a few more ideas percolating, but I really, truly have no idea if I will be able to get to them. But here are some of my top desired really really would love to write one day:

when the smoke clears (amnesia!Ginny fic)

my crazy Harry traveling to alt dimension ideas (both Someone Else's Life and The Other-Boy-Who-Lived)

St. Mungos, since feeling is first who pays attention and Muggle FWB - three different stories; healer!Ginny au, missed moments as Ginny's feelings for Harry develop over the years, and yet another FWB story idea but they're Muggles and it's still angsty/yearning but very different feel in my head

Muggle!Harry/witch!Ginny idea and he's a part time librarian haha

But I also have some bizarre other ideas that just DID things to my brain when it came to me, but this one I reallllly want to write and it'd totally be super niche and maybe have 1 reader (@theroomofreq who I've braindumped this on before):

It would be a Miraculous Ladybug/Harry Potter crossover, where Adrien Agreste is a pureblood transfer student from Beauxbatons. It's the year after the Goblet of Fire, and everyone is on pins and needles, and of course, his father won't explain why exactly he decided to uproot them to Hogwarts (has nothing to do with Voldemort's supposed resurgence, right?). His father expects him like all those in his family to be sorted into Slytherin. Of course, he's in for a surprise when Adrien is sorted into Hufflepuff.

It would be the slowest burn (over snippets from year 5+) in the world because the end ship is Adrien/Ginny (what?! yeah, but wait, listen...). Why I am loving this ship is that Adrien's perfection triggers Ginny's PTSD because huh, who else was the last perfect seeming boy she met? And, I mean, we all know Adrien's type is a BAMF, and who fits the bill more than Ginny? And ugh, Gryffindor/Hufflepuff dynamic is something I'm itching to explore!

It's the slow, painful, unlikely friendship they build over time as they all figure out how to fight the war from within the castle walls during Deathly Hallows (eventually), Adrien longing for Marinette, his "missing" Muggleborn friend from Beauxbatons, Ginny missing and worrying about Harry. And uh, yeah, I don't even know if I should spoil the rest but it's just a lot of fragments in my head that I'd have to do because of course I'm a hardcore Hinny shipper and love Marinette/Adrien, and well, yeah, clearly I haven't thought about this story at all.

It’s already been a few days since the end of Hallowe’en, but the buzzing of Hogwarts’ students makes it sound like they’re still on a sugar high.

Beauxbatons had been much more focused on keeping appearances compared to Hogwarts; while her former school celebrated with refined decorations and sharp reprimands of “those pumpkins aren’t for eating!,” Hogwarts seemed to be much more indulgent. She had seen goblets of colored sweets in each hallway, orange streamers hanging from the high ceilings, and a highly entertaining performance put on by the Hogwarts ghosts.

It had been very excitable, and it seems like the other students are still riding the high of the event. Professor Tyler takes longer than usual to call the classroom to attention, sighing greatly as he has to reprimand a chatty Slytherin to their seat.

“Alright, settle down,” he says, still waving people to their desks. “Today is an important discussion, so I don’t want to hear any side conversations, hmm? No need to take notes,” he adds after hearing the rustle of blank scrolls.

“This project,” he starts, tapping the board after everyone rushes to their seats, “will last the entire year.” He chuckles at the groans that result. “We won’t start until the hols, but if any of you want to get a headstart, you’re free to begin earlier.”

Professor Tyler waves his wand, and strips of paper begin to float out of the glass jar on his desk. “This is a partner project—” more groans “—and these slips will decide what potion you’re assigned.”

The students watch their fate, etched onto slips of white paper, hover before their eyes as Professor Tyler explains the premise of their project. It’s split into two parts, the potion-making and the presentation. Each pair must alter the formula of their assigned potion to change its effects, with the stipulation that the outcome must be recognizable as a variation of the initial potion. After the deadline, each pair must present their potion to the class, detailing what changes they’d made, their experimentation process, and a demonstration of said potion.

“I don’t expect success from all of you, but your presentation must be thorough in order to receive full credit.”

Professor Tyler tells them to move to their stations with their partner. Marinette does so with a looming sense of anticipation. It’s an ambitious project, which isn’t exactly the cause for her doubt— ah, there it is, she thinks, as her partner sits beside her with a scowl. She hopes they can learn to work together eventually, considering how much of their grade this project makes up. Marinette offers him a tentative smile. She receives a blank stare in return.

After a few moments of awkward silence in which the rest of the students settle down, Professor Tyler distributes the slips. It floats in front of Marinette, and she takes it from the air, opening the folded slip. Her jaw drops.

Marinette blinks and refocuses her eyes. She looks back, staring at the Amortentia scrawled on the surface.

“What is it,” Damian demands, and she’s too entrenched in her dread to react to his rudeness. Her life has got to be some kind of joke.

“Oh,” he says, the vowel containing more emotion than anything else she’s heard him say. At least they can agree on something.

Marinette is still reeling the next day. Unfortunately, Felix is at Quidditch practice, so she can’t distract herself from the cliché rom-com her life has turned into. Oh, what she’d give to return to her favorite sport—though she no longer minds her transfer, it’s still disappointing that she hadn’t gotten a chance to try out for the team.

She leaves the library after some preliminary research for the potions project, having written eleven inches of notes already in a haphazard scrawl. Maybe she’ll head to the Great Hall next?

Marinette strolls the halls leisurely, glancing at the paintings that cover the walls and the intricate columns that decorate the school. Now that she’s more accustomed to the school, she doesn’t mind taking her time to admire the architecture. Most people are in class, anyways, so she doesn’t have to worry about crowds of students frantically marching to their next class. As she turns the corner, however, a familiar mop of dark hair enters her field of vision.

“Jon?” she calls hesitantly, then feels immediate dread set in. Boy, it’d be really embarrassing if it wasn’t him. Imagine how dumb the other person would think she was, and knowing her luck, she’d realize she actually had a class with them, and she’d remember this moment every time she saw their face…

“Mari!” 

Jon turns around and beams at her. He looks to be in quite the upbeat mood, but she’s found that friendly seems to be his default state. After his greeting, however, he glances around cautiously and beckons her closer with one hand.

“Hey, do you want some food?” he whispers. A strange thing to be secretive about, but because she grew up in a bakery, Marinette’s answer to that question would never be no.

Turns out Jon’s idea of food is a painting of a fruit bowl in one of Hogwarts’ numerous underground corridors.

“Are you going to do some magic and make this fruit bowl come to life?” Marinette quips. Jon smirks instead of responding and… tickles the pear?

“I take it back. Are you on a euphoria potion?”

She considers rallying him back to his common room, but before she can act, the pear transforms into a doorknob right before her eyes. Maybe she’s the one on a euphoria potion.

“Go ahead,” Jon prompts, and she levels him a suspicious look before she cautiously puts a hand on the knob and pushes the door open.

The door opens to a high-ceilinged room made of stone—Marinette spots a massive fireplace at the end, counters stacked with pots and pans and utensils. The entire kitchen, presumably, is milling about with house-elves, save for an area to the side with long tables similar to the Great Hall.

While she’d been staring, Jon had already stepped past the painting and into the room. “Come in,” he beckons. The door swings shut behind Marinette, and she subconsciously leans closer to him in her bafflement.

“Master Kent,” the house-elf who runs up to them squeaks. “What can Mipsey do for you?” The elf’s charming dress flounces after her, the cream fabric dotted with pink flowers.

“What’s on the menu today?” Jon peers over the crowd of house-elves, looking at the large pan they had pulled from of the fireplace. “Cornish pasties?”

“Quite intelligent, Master Kent!” Mipsey praises. Her excitement has Marinette mirroring Jon’s wide smile, but she still feels a bit of nervousness. None of her friends in Beauxbatons had a house-elf, and Chloe hadn’t exactly been her friend. The blonde girl treated all her ‘hired help’ the same: badly.

“Come on, let’s sit!” Jon gestures Marinette over to the tables. “Mipsey would kill me if I put my dirty hands on that tray.”

“Master Kent!” the elf scolds.

Once his laughter clears up, Jon explains the situation to Marinette. “I come here every once in a while to meet snacks with one of my friends. Right, I hope you don’t mind if she joins us. I think you’ll get along pretty well though. Her name is—”

And of course, in dramatic fashion, said friend opens the door right at that moment.

“Maps!”

Hogwarts Houses.?

Personally I 100% see Adrien in Hufflepuff and Marinette to in Slytherin, but she's also a pretty good fit for the other houses.

I would sort Marinette in Slytherin just to see her roast Snape. Marinette and book and Harry would've been bffs if they ever met. Forget every other crossover, Marinette and Harry would've been the best duo 😂.

I’m right and I can explain why.

Marinette: Dude have you seen her plans??? And she literally knew that Nino was a sentimonster in that one episode because she saw that he messed up the handshake through a mirror. I could go on about how smart she is because she’s fr my pookie but I have more to say so I won’t.

Adrien: The recklessness, the hot-headedness, the way he doesn’t even think before protecting his friends? That boy is a Gryffindor through and through.

Alya: Her friendship with Marinette is so sweet. She’s always on her side, except for when Lila is involved, but we all know they just do that for the drama so it doesn’t really count lmao.

Nino: Also extremely reckless. And again, would go to any danger to save his friends/ girlfriend.

Gabriel: I don’t think he really fits any of the houses because he has zero good characteristics about him. But I guess he has some of the bad Gryffindor traits, so I put him there lmao.

Nathalie: Literally has come up with every single one of the very few good plans that Gabriel has had. If she were Hawkmoth, she would have had the Mirvaulous by now. Considered putting her in Slytherin, but it’s not really so much that she’s really working hard at something but more that she’ll occasionally help and just so happens to have really good ideas.

Master Fu: Didn’t really know where to put him. But considering Feast, it seems like he approves of the phrase “work smarter not harder” which seems like a Slytherin phrase to me so I put him there.

Nathaniel: He seems really eager for action and bravery. Also very hotheaded.

Marc: idk he just seems smart. Also he’s a writer so Ravenclaw vibes.

Chloe: She’s literally the female version of Draco Malfoy. (I meant to put her in Slytherin, not Gryffindor.)

Alix: Extremely brave.

Felix and Lila: if you think either one of them are anything but Slytherin you’re just wrong, no explanation needed.

Kagami: She’s ready to do a lot to achieve her goals. She’s very ambitious.

Kim: Very reckless

Max: I mean he’s the nerd of the show. Of course he’s Ravenclaw.

I think all of the Hufflepuffs are self explanatory.

Manon: She just gives me vibes idk
