my husband and i started dating almost six years ago and our anniversary is coming up so i was looking through texts from when we first started seeing each other and jfk i'm just now realizing he was flirting with me and i simply did not realize that’s what was happening.

he'd say something like "aren’t you just the sweetest thing" and i'd respond with some shit like "that's nice of you to say. i have a deeply ingrained borderline pathological need to be liked and also to make other people happy so it's good to know i'm succeeding in that."

You know I really like Jill, she is like a solid rock, confident and reliable, she share the same goals with Clive and work as hard to achieve them if not even more (seeing she will be there to carry the heavy work after origin, they just started by then) but we don’t see any of her qualities much, its what makes me sad a bit, we are stuck in Clive pov too much we are missing her hard work in the hideaway, how can she be a good politician, a strong leader a great friend, im just bummed :(

One of my biggest pet peeves is people assuming I don't have common sense and/or that they have to explain basic things to me the same way you would to a five year old who is still learning how to exist in the world and unfortunately I am seeing more and more of this from people who are desperate to show off how informed and correct they are. I think the most anger that I experienced over the course of this very difficult academic year was when I had to do a group project on Huckleberry Finn for my American lit class and our topic was Twain's use of humour and whether this contributes to racism in the novel or deflects from it. I was disagreeing with someone else in my group over the ending--she thought it was very effective, I thought it took away from what Twain was doing in the first two sections. This is a debate that has been played out many times before by people way smarter than we are and tbh I do not care that she disagreed with me. What bothered me was that she made it clear that she thought I was stupid and that if she just spoke rudely and condescendingly to me she would not be proved right exactly but she would at least distance herself from my ignorance. She didn't care that I had read several articles about the ending of Huckleberry Finn and had been intrigued by one critic's theory that the burlesque at the end of the novel was meant to show that black and white relations at the time of its publications were a burlesque of what they should have been and had thought about this a lot before deciding that it ultimately did not change my opinion--she just assumed that I was basing my stance off of a surface-level reading and told me in an incredibly contemptuous tone that if I wanted the author to spell out the correct moral interpretation to go watch Dora the Explorer. I will be real I wanted to strangle her esp since this was in front of others. I told her she was being ridiculous but I wish I had told her not to speak to me like that. Makes my blood boil just thinking about it.
