Also this episode proves to me that Buck (deep down) knew the kind of impact he had on Eddie and Christopher’s life. It also tells me Buck doesn’t fully believe the Diaz parents wouldn’t try to take Chris away if they could. That Chris needs both of his parents to fight for him, and what’s best for him, protecting him.
And Christopher asking Buck to help him find his dad. Bear with me because my mind is all over the place, but I interpreted that line 2 different ways.
1.) the literal meaning in needing Buck’s help to find Eddie. There was a stark lack of Eddie in Buck’s dream and I’m beginning to think that was purposeful. Y’all, Buck’s coma dream was not meant to be something he wanted to stay in in the end. Everything was off, everything was wrong. Including the fact that Eddie was not there. A reminder that in the dream, each ‘character’ talking to Buck IS Buck, including Christopher. So Chris asking Buck to help him find his dad, is Buck’s own subconscious seeking out Eddie and understanding that he needs to leave, because he doesn’t want to live in a world without Eddie. Without Eddie and Christopher together with him.
And 2.) another subtextual meaning of Chris asking Buck to help him find his dad. I choose to also hear that as Chris wanting to find Buck. I’m not sure if Buck FULLY understands his place as Chris’s other father. This line almost felt like Buck’s subconscious trying to tell him something. That Chris is looking for Buck, wanting Buck, needing Buck as his father just as much as he needs Eddie. And Buck needs to find that understanding in himself. To be more concise: Chris is not just looking for Eddie, but he’s looking for his dad, Buck, too.

Look, as we all know, Aziraphale and Crowley have differences in opinion when it comes to heaven and hell and that’s because whilst they’ve had similar experiences with them- they’ve also had really different experiences with them too.
Let’s start with Aziraphale because I feel like, heading into season 3, we’re going to see some change in his opinions on above. Compared to Crowley, Aziraphale’s experience with hell is fairly limited and mainly manipulated by Heaven and all. This opinion was supported when he went to hell at the end of season 1 and presumable by all the times they’ve kidnapped (and supposedly tortured) Crowley. Hell is simple to understand to him. They’re the ‘bad guys’ as he painfully reminds us in the final fifteen. That’s understandable- everything he’s ever had to do with hell, that he has considered to be connected with hell, has been bad. But Crowley’s different. He could still be an angel- right?
This is where we get on with Aziraphale and heaven because, deep down, he loves what he still thinks heaven stands for. It’s just been corrupted. Sure, it has been cruel to him on multiple occasions but that’s not heaven- that’s just the archangels. In his mind, Heaven as a whole has never done anything necessarily bad to him, there are only a few corrupt individuals. Plus, forgiveness comes easily to Aziraphale. He’s forgiven Crowley too many times, he silently forgives Jimbriel, and he arguably forgives the Metatron. Thus, for Aziraphale, forgiving Heaven, who from his pov has never directly wronged him, is super easy. That’s why he still thinks Heaven can be redeemed.
Alternatively, Crowley was outcast from Heaven- almost told he wasn’t wanted there because he asked questions/whatever else he did to fall. This is why I wish we knew more about Crowley’s fall because I feel like it would tell us so much more about his character development but alas. But he was cast out of the only group he had ever known because he did what he thought was right. We don’t know what else happened to him in Heaven so there could be plenty more times that he was mistreated etc. Crowley doesn’t forgive as easily as Azi put also we can assume that a large part of Heaven would have turned their backs on him after he fell with Aziraphale being one of the few to still treat him like an equal.
To Crowley, hell was an escape. It was a way to express himself and allowed him to have some sense of companionship after his fall. It was a way of not being alone. Yes, hell went to shit, it was always going to go to shit. Maybe Crowley knew that and he recognizes it. He doesn’t think hell is better than heaven. He thinks their equals because they have the same purpose. As he states in the final fifteen:
When Heaven ends life on earth it will be just as dead as if hell ended it.
Neither opinion is necessarily right or wrong but they’re both opinions informed by experience and thus arguably are just as valid as the other.
(NOTE: bc Im a little bit unhealthily obsessed with Angel Crowley and his identity Id also like to point out that if he was a high ranking Angel (like supreme archangel status yk) his experiences in Heaven would have been totally different to Aziraphale’s because he also would have been in a lot more contact with the higher-ups than, say, a principality. We know that Heavens corruption permeates the higher circles and that the lower ranking angels still stand mainly for what Heaven is supposed to stand for so this may have also impacted their experiences anyway sorry lol)

Okay, so I'm thinking about redesigning my tarnished. Mainly cause I know I can make her post-game design absolutely wild for a bride of a snow witch who adores glintstone magic. Like I can make her look absolutely wild!
May draw some of her and Ranni during the events of the game, though since her design in the game is true to how I view her. Only thing I can think of is the clothes, but I imagine she changes outfits often, so I can draw her in whatever.

the thing is my dad cheated on my mum years ago, like when i was 2 or something, and then left her for his partner who have been together ever since, and now have a child of their own together
and i have been going to each house half the time since i was a baby i think, so her being there has always been normal
and i doing out that the reason my mum and dad broke up was his cheating like a good couple years ago
and i don’t know the whole story or any of the specifics, but a couple days ago my friend asked me about it and now i can’t stop thinking about it
specifically, he left my mum for her, so how long was he cheating on her for because you don’t leave your wife of however many years and two kids for a couple month long relationship.
was he cheating before i was born? was it when i was a newborn, was it when my mum was off work taking care of two under fives????
like i know it happened a long time ago and my parents are ok with each other now but goddamn i can’t stop thinking about it
and i don’t know if i have ever really seen my dad in the same light since i found out
and i’ve never spoken to him about it obviously, i don’t even know if he knows that i know he cheated.
just, ugh yeah

If Noah survived in ILITW, he is on the run at the end of that story and in ILB. Will Noah being a fugitive of the law/a wanted person come into play in ILW as well? Could that complicate things in the second half of ILW? Connor, Jocelyn, and the surviving ILITW crew put up with Noah because he is their key to getting Devon back and stopping the power, but other people from Westchester may not be so kind. Maybe Noah will have a run-in from his past in the form of his mom turning him in?
Yeah like honestly....no fucking way he has been basically on the run for four years and nothing has come to it. Like I know people have been able to get away from authorities for decades sometimes, but that is usually because they have planned it for a long time and weren't teenagers.
Like if the main story is that wild animals attacks and cave collapsing...how does people think he had something to with it. Like unless it's in the ending where MC got stabbed, their death would qualify as being unexplained. Even with the other gang members deaths are not deaths a normal teen boy can inflict on someone. idk main reason I don't play with that ending a lot because my sense of disbelief can only get me that far without wanting to overthink this.
It would be interesting to see Noah's mom play a role or show up in anyway possible. I wanna know more about her.

On of the less intuitive things about love, I've found, of any kind, is the importance of needing things.
I didn't realize it until recently, but I've always seen love as something requiring sacrifice, selflessness, patience, and generosity- to ask for nothing is to be the best person I can be, small and quiet and never in the way, always happy and helpful, self-sufficient and present when desired.
It's only as an adult, now, that I'm beginning to see the selfishness of wanting nothing.
I cut my friend's hair in my kitchen the other day. They wanted a trim and I had the skills, so I offered, and was genuinely excited when they stopped hesitating over "bothering me" and took me up on it. It was a peaceful afternoon, and we had tea and chatted for an hour or more.
My brother and I shared popcorn at the movies a while ago. When I came time to pay, I pulled my card out like a wild western sheriff and slapped it on the machine before he could fight me for it first. The satisfaction was delightful.
Someone called me crying on the phone the other day. Kept apologizing for disturbing me at work, talking about how they were bothering me on my lunch break. I was telling the truth when I told them that really, I was flattered and honored and relieved, knowing that if they were hurting I would know, that I didn't have to worry in silence. It felt good to hear them slowly come down, and to know that they knew it would be better soon, and to hear them laugh wetly on the other end. We're getting together for a visit next week.
It's hard to need things, if you've trained yourself not to. It's hard to want things, when you don't know how to want anymore. Trusting people is difficult, and so is relying on them, but I don't know where I'd be without the people who rely on me.
I've heard a lot of people say, "Nobody will love you unless you love yourself". I've had a lot of thoughts about it. It's not right, but it's not wrong, either, I think.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... I've always taken that to mean, "You will not be lovable until you develop a positive view of yourself as a person".
Now, I think it's sort of inside-out.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... because nobody can show their love to you in a way that you can accept until you treat yourself kindly, and learn what you need, and what you want, and how to ask for it, and then give that vulnerability away.
Love, for me, is someone I ask for a ride to the airport. Whether they end up doing this or not is irrelevant.
It's not needy, or selfish, or taking up energy. It's giving the gift of being wanted, and needed, and thought of. It's giving someone the security of being part of someone's life.

Can we destroy the myth that the only pieces of literature that have any deeper meaning to them are the old old classics? Pieces of literature that are usually inaccessible to a wider range of people for a variety of reasons and take large amounts of time and concentration to complete in a manner in which one can have some grasp of the greater themes and undertones of the story?
Why can’t the books that people read for fun not help them develop their understanding of love, life, humanity, or whatever. Books that people deem to be “low culture” are the reason so many people love reading enough to try and read texts from so-called “high culture” so why should these books be deemed lesser than? Maybe they aren’t as hard to read but does one read because the book is difficult or do people read to have fun and grow, learn and gain insight? Surely a text doesn’t have to be created by some random guy who died 200 years ago to have the ability to do this.
This doesn’t mean that the classics don’t have any value, what I’m trying to say is their value shouldn’t be seen as greater than that of any other book.
Sure the works of Orwell and Atwood and Fitzgerald and Woolf explore human connection, life, humanity and society but really so does every other author. They just do it in different ways with different words and themes and styles. Personally, I think that one of the greatest explorations of the meaning of life was by Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy ‘trilogy’ but I have plenty of friends who would argue it was in some text that I’ve never heard of. Sure, I’m not a literary genius nor do I have a PhD, I can barely sit through and Austen novel so maybe I’m a little bias but literature should be for everyone no matter your taste.
Maybe your favourite book was written 500 years ago by some guy no one’s ever heard of, maybe it was written 200 years ago and is renown for taking literal years to read or maybe it’s just a book you bought from the bookstore by an author who has yet to make classic status and probably never will. It doesn’t matter because you love literature and we shouldn’t be forcing everyone who loves to read to start reading only books written by people who died 100 years ago simply because we as a society have deemed them “classics” because I genuinely think that any text can help you grow and change how you see the world.
(I feel like I should note that this excludes texts that spread dangerous notions, stereotypes and ideologies, especially when not read with caution. Sorry.)

as a bi person, the bisexual flag brings me infinite joy and always puts a smile on my face, however as a person who has a Passion for Graphic Design, that undersaturated shade of purple infuriates me when it's used digitally
like, on an actual flag - which was its original purpose - it looks great!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
those look fine! lovely, even! with the semi-transparent fabric, the way it catches the sunlight, it looks beautiful!
but now look at how it looks digitally
Tumblr media
the pink and blue are so vibrant compared to the sad, lonely lavender!
and let's look at this statement from Michael Page, the creator of the bi flag:
Tumblr media
(sidenote: he created this flag in 1998, so if his takes on bisexuality is different from yours, it's okay to notice that! a lot has changed since the 90s when it comes to lived experiences and the way we describe them. but, it's also important to respect his thoughts about this and the way he presented them, even if today, we'd probably not say that bi people "blend unnoticeably into both the gay/lesbian and straight communities.")
so in pantone colors, the pink is 226 C, the blue is 286 C, and the purple of the flag is 258 C.
but...here's the deal
Michael talks here about how the key to understanding the symbolism is to know that the purple blends into both the pink and blue. and on a physical flag, I think you can see that!
but digitally, it absolutely does not blend. it clashes badly, and looks oddly separate from the other two colors.
which got me wondering...what purple do you get if you actually blend 226 C and 286 C?
Tumblr media
oh! oh, my god.
Tumblr media
look at that! look at how nicely it fits between those colors!
Tumblr media
look at it next to the original color scheme! look at how much more vibrant the purple is!
and friends. this is just blending through rgb! you get even more purple variations when you use other color spaces!
let's compare all of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(top: original, lab. middle: lrgb, lch. bottom: rgb, hsl)
look at all of the different purple options you can get just by combining these two colors!
if you want almost too-vibrant saturation, you can go hsl, if you want something more relaxed that's closer to the original, you can go lab or lrgb. and if you want to split the difference, lch is bright and violet, while rgb is there with its saturated but darker purple.
anyway, I guess I don't really have a point here? this isn't so much an informational post as it is Me Getting Weird About Colors, but I think it is a useful lesson about how colors look very different on screens compared to how they look on objects in real life.
and sometimes, I think it's okay to compensate for that.
out of all of these, this is my favorite bi flag:
Tumblr media
it's the one where the colors were blended in lab color space. for me, the lighter, softer purple is close enough to the original bi flag purple, while also feeling like a smoother blend of the blue and pink
but that's just me! and it might not even look the same to you, since every screen is different, because technology is a nightmare!
anyway, thank you for coming with me on this colorful journey! I will now retreat back to inkscape and make pained sounds about inkstitch gradients until something tangible pulls me back into reality
