Answered before, but I'll pick a different one 'cause it's fun. I think the planet from Blink of an Eye is a really interesting concept. I liked the time differential and how the "sky ship" was built into the planet's mythology. Then the people eventually do make it out! Also what happened to the EMH's kid?

I'd be hard pressed to come up with an ultimate favorite quote, since it changes depending on which show is currently on in the background of my life, what season's on, my mood, etc. One I heard today that always sticks with me is this one:

"Space. Literally it means nothing, a vacuum between stars and planets, but by the same token it means everything. It's what connects all our worlds."

This is a concept that has fascinated me for a while. I tend to get caught up in thinking about numbers and how close infinity and zero are to each other. (I took college calculus by myself, so many times my answer would be ∞ then I'd do it again and it would be 0, rinse, repeat). It's everything, it's nothing, it's everything! I find it a beautiful little push-pull, like an ocean wave, vaivén. Plus, space is mostly empty, and there's so much we simply cannot know about it. I will never go to actual space in my lifetime, but I am consumed by narratives about space and its infinite possibility. This silly space show connects us in the same way that space connects us -- we may be on opposite sides of the planet but we still share similarities, be it because of our favorite Starfleet officer or the fact that we can look up at the same moon at night.

🍽️ Alien food/drink I'd want to try

Drinks? Probably raktajino at the top of the list for drinks, though I probably would try any of the various alien ales/wines at least once. I'd probably love synthehol honestly. A nice Tarkalean tea. A Samarian Sunset, though not sure if Quark or Data should make it. A fancy Tzartak aperitif.

As for food... leola root. I have a whole leola root theory that one day maybe I'll write down, but is it really all that bad? 'Cause Neelix keeps making it, and they keep eating it, even after replicators aren't really being rationed anymore. Fetran sauce 'cause I cannot fathom what it might be. I like the food details, and while I'm a picky eater, I'd probably try a fair bit of it.

Just finished 2 skeins of sleeve yarn and once again marveling at how little yardage im fitting on a bobbin with this stuff--each skein was 60 yards (55 meters). And each skein was a totally full bobbin of plied yarn (and my singles each took up a bobbin). Part of it is that its very airy (and bulky weight, obviously), and the other part is that my take up is not very high so its not compacting down as it goes on, but even so, it feels like a lot of yarn when i was holding it ! And the spinning and plying was only maybe 2 hours ! Bulky yarn is crazy

#so nice though #the carding takes a day or two so im never spinning back to back days which is actually kind of nice #and then i can get the spinning and plying done in one day as long as i keep the tension low (less stress on my joints that way)#and break it into a few sessions #ideally id also be using up the yarn as fast as i was making it but im spending most of my knitting time on that scarf #i moved the sweater panel to straights because i thought i would hurt my hands less #which it isnt but i feel like the reason for that is more to do with how unbalanced it feels and how i can never get the stitches #to sit at the balance point on the needles so theyre not trying to fall out of my hands #which i think is user error really #also thought i was getting lever knitting straights (i.e. the very very long ones) but i dont think i did in retrospect #theyre too short to press the left one into my hip while sitting unless i slouch a ton which i dont remember it being the last time #i tried lever knitting. so maybe i might have better luck if i actually got a pair of those #anyway its going fast when i can knit. and its Very soft and so satisfying to knit #excited to get to the front panel so i can do a design #not sure what though #ooh a beet would be really cool #dont know if i could render it in brown though... id like if it could be all hand dyed and ive never gotten a red #on the other hand could do my best to dye some yarn with beets and then it could be more symbolic of red than actually red lol #spinning #bulky sweater spin

#haven’t done anything besides school and work in like half a year #and I literally maintained my 4.0 gpa right up until this past semester but now I couldn’t give a shit about clases and my degree #i have zero motivation to do well and pass my classes even tho I’ve set myself up for another 5 years of education #i haven’t seen my best friend since last year when I used to be able to see her everyday or at the very least visit every few months #my brother had to fucking move back to canada and I miss him so fucking much it’s unfair #my younger brother is struggling and I don’t know how to talk to him or help no matter how much I reach out to him #my youngest brother is the only one I can do my best to be there for by babysitting him and trying my best to make sure he’s having fun #and learning but I’m mentally exhausted and I feel like I fail him because of it #my mom lives 15 minutes away but she’s always working or out of town and I feel like I’m intruding if I stay over for more than a few days #and I’m never able to spend time w my sister anymore like we used to #i can barely hold a conversation w my dad or stepmom no matter how hard I try I just feel like I’m too much or they don’t care #i don’t know where I’m going w this #oh yeah also I haven’t practiced anything I’ve wanted to despite my brain itching to do something productive for forever #i took my keyboard out from under my bed for the first time in a year but I can barely get out of bed #i tried looking for my sketchbook and my fucking desk drawer fell apart lmfao so I gave up on that #everything just feels so dull all the time #I’m spending hours and hours on my phone or not sleeping and then sleeping way too much at the wrong times #everyday is the same and not in a good way #this is so long and I feel like I haven’t even begun to cover how numb and lonely I feel lol #anyway I’m gonna go back to watching youtube videos instead of working on lab hw #nyah speaks
