im an anime only so i cant speak to how it is in the manga but i was struck by the scene when hawks is so desperate to save lady nagant im pretty sure it is because she reminds him of himself and his circumstances with the commission so saving her would in a way be saving himself like hes a good dude and he would want to save someone regardless but he seems so much more intense emotions in that than he is in most of his other scenes
