Marc squirmed under the other knight. "Yohoure thehe ohone beihing ruhude!"

"Hush now hermano." Jake spidered his fingers up and down the older knight's ribs. "It's still my turn to talk."

Marc squealed and cackled as Jake continued his talkative attack. "JAHAKE!"

"Hermano, cálmate!"

"IHI CAHANT!"

Jake squeezed Marc's sides. "Why not?"

"AH! Yohou're tiIHIcklihing mehehe!"

The hands jumped to Marc's thighs. "Stop lying amigo."

Marc squealed.

Jake paused. "What was that?"

The older knight growled. "Yohou beheing aha jeherk!"

"No, I think that was you amigo." Jake skittered back up to Marc's ribs. "You make the most adorable noises."

Marc cackled like a little kid as Jake continued tormenting his ribs. Jake cooed at the scene in front of him. Marc always looked and sounded 10 years younger when he got tickled.

And he wasn't trying too hard to get away from Jake's fingers.

"Aww, al bebe le gustan sus cosquillas?"

Marc blushed. "Noho!"

Jake smirked. "You're not trying too hard to get away."

The blush darkened across Marc's face and he tried to hide his face in his arm.

The younger knight chuckled as he continued attacking Marc's ribs. He loved tickling Marc and seeing him turn into an adorable giggle pile. This man had never had much chance to just enjoy childhood so Jake---and Steven too---were determined to give him the opportunity to enjoy those things.

And if that meant tickles then tickles it would be.

"Aw, eres un bebe," Jake teased as he gently turned Marc's face outward.

"Noho Ihim noh-AAT!"

In a moment of sentiment, Jake peppered kisses into Marc's neck and face.

The older knight squirmed and blushed at the affection. "Jahake! What---whahat ahare yohou dohoing?"

"Giving you love hermano. I do the same thing with Steven."

"Buhut---buhut Steheven's ahadorahable!"

"And you're not?"

"Noho!"

"But to me you are."

"Buhut " Marc avoided eye contact, "h-hehe deserves ihit."

Jake shook his head. "You're delusional hermano." Jake returned to peppering kisses into Marc's face and neck. "I'll show you how merecedor de amor you are too."

Marc's blush darkened even more. "Ihi---Jahake!"

"Yes adorable brother of mine?"

Marc growled. "Nohot cuhute!

"Un día." Jake ruffled Marc's hair. "One day. For now, I'll tell you how deserving you are."

"Wh-whahat!"

Jake's fingers went back to tickling Marc's sides and ribs while rambling on about the many reasons Marc was deserving of love. Meanwhile, he secretly cooed over the adorable mess the older knight had become. Marc deserved all the love Jake could give, and he was determined to give it to him.

Even if it was in the form of the nonsense tickles he had done today.

Exhibition and Talks

Riso printing has become a popular choice for independent publishers, artists, and designers around the world. The technique is characterised by its imperfections, imprecision, and unpredictability, that is linked to the origin and the idiosyncratic function of the machine. Each riso print is thus unique, with shifts, smudges or odditie. Unlike traditional printing techniques, risography doesn't reproduce an image exactly but rather transcribes it differently. By using slightly or totally different colors, it creates alternative versions of the image, opening up immense possibilities to rethink the purpose of the printed image and its context.

Risography originated in Japan in the 1940s. It is a direct tone printing system that uses a stencil printer to create images with bright, fluorescent colors and textured rendering. The technique is eco-friendly, using vegetable oil-based inks that dry slowly by absorption into uncoated paper. Each ink uses its own drum, which is fed in and out of the machine as required, making it a low-cost method of producing large quantities of work using a limited number of colors.

The exhibition ‘Blurring The Raster | Photobooks In Riso’ presents 44 photobooks and zines from Greece and abroad, framed by a series of parallel talks, offering a glimpse into the diverse and creative possibilities and particularities of risograph printing while questioning the conventional notion and experience of the printed image.

Initiated by Zoetrope Athens in collaboration with Alice Laurichesse, Keda*Press, Dolce, Athens Zine Bibliotheque, Sleep On It Press, RNVP and Quintal Atelier from Paris, the library Herbarium Riso in Berlin and the nomadic collection of Zines of the Zone.

REVIEW | "Inu-Oh" | B3 - Boston Bastard Brigade

Many would say that rock & roll evolved from the sounds of blues and folk music of the early 20th century; director Masaaki Yuasa (The Night is Short, Walk on Girl) would tell you to go back further! Before the likes of Steven Tyler or Freddie Mercury graced the stage, the rock stars of olden times were storytellers. While ancient Greeks and Romans would tell many a tale to big crowds, the Japanese would add the power of spectacle to their performances. Perhaps this is why Yuasa’s latest film Inu-Oh works on so many fantastical levels.

One-half historical fiction and another half rock opera, Inu-Oh tells the story of two friends out to change the world with their sound and style. The singer & dancer Inu-Oh (Queen Bee’s Avu-chan) was cursed at birth due to his father’s (Kenjiro Tsuda) greedy ambitions, whereas musician Tomona (Mirai Moriyama) was blinded at youth by a cursed Heike weapon. Spirits of the past — including Tomona’s father (Yutaka Matsushige) — surround the two performers, with many being the ghosts of slain warriors of the Genpei War. As their popularity climbs, Inu-Oh’s father becomes swallowed by jealousy, with hopes he can stop his son from stealing his spotlight.

Although loosely based on a real-life 14th-century Noh performer, Inu-Oh places more emphasis on emotion than truth in its storytelling. It’s a nice dose of irony, as the film shows why truth is more powerful than even the biggest of spectacles. As both Inu-Oh and Tomona travel all over Japan to sing these lost stories, the ruler Lord Ashikaga (Tasuku Emoto) is attempting to push for his Tale of the Heike to be the only accepted form of “truth”. Yet as hard as Inu-Oh’s father tries, the two friends keep wracking up the popularity points and recapturing the thunder the scoundrel stole years back.

It’s a sight to behold when Inu-Oh and Tomona perform, as their sound brings to mind the likes of Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Prince. Tomona headbangs while wailing on his biwa, as if he was a predecessor of Jack White or Jimmy Page. Inu-Oh, meanwhile, belts a tune and busts a move in ways that invokes Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson. As they tell stories about whales, dragons, and lost heroes, their stage shows present elaborate puppetry, light trickery, and even a little pyro.

First Time to Be Back in the Cinemas + Finally Brace-free!

Back in the Cinema After More Than 2 Years!

Oh how I miss watching in the cinema. Nothing compares to the experience of watching movies in theaters. The atmosphere, the dark surroundings, the crisp sound, the experience you share with other movie goers, and watching the film on the big screen - I miss the overall feel of it!

She's so happy and excited!

After three long years of watching films on the TV/laptop/phone, I got to go back in the cinema again! As a self-proclaimed film enthusiast (CHEKA!), of course I was super ecstatic, to the point that my sister thought I was stressed LOL. But inside, super excited ko talaga that I seemed nervous and afraid to miss the movie even if we were there 30 minutes early.

Two days ago, my sister and I watched Nope at SM Seaside. I can not miss Steven Yeun a Jordan Peele film! 😏 Laysho pud akong first time back there because we watched in Director's Club pa 😎 (Wala kaming choice 'cause it was the only one available, but not complaining at all kay libre ni ate HAHA). The film's concept was kinda different from his other films, but it was still great nonetheless! And just like his previous films, metaphors about white people were still present in his recent work. Love it!

I had to document my first time in the cinemas since the pandemic started, because I missed it so much. Can't wait to watch more films in theaters!

Braces No More!

Ya girl is finally brace-free after three years! To be honest, I kinda feel sentimental that I'm letting go and moving on from my braces phase. It feels like I miss it, but I actually don't. Hmmm how should I describe it? 😅

The fact that I had been wearing braces for three long years, and finally letting that go now is a strange feeling. Even if I longed for the day to not wear it anymore. Monthly appointments with my orthodontist had been my routine for years, and it feels strange now to no longer go there anymore.

Though I'm happy that I can smile confidently now! Hehe. But I admit that I'm not used to smiling with teeth. So more often than not, I try to "practice" my new smile HAHA. As someone who used to be insecure with my teeth, the day I got to see my new smile for the first time was an especially emotional moment for me :)

And that's it for my last days of August. Back to regular programming next month (back to school ughhh 😩)

Salcedo x Binondo : My Kind of Yin-yang Sabado

Habang naglalaba at nagaalaga ng total of 4 babies ang Ravenclaw mom n'yo, kahit lumpuhan weekend, lalaban pa rin tayo kahit kanino. CHARAUGHT.

Slept soooo late kanina and had to drag myself outta bed because we had a series of revisits in the name of first too many firsts. Hahahahahahahahahahhaaha. Kalandian na naman po tayo but Shirakawago-kanal vibe. Can I just say, pagod na pagod na talaga ako pero gusto ko munang isampay 'yung mga damit ko para one less item off my weekend tambak errands list kasi bukas, dami pang gagawin, as in. Ginusto ko naman 'to, so KFINE.

Andami kong surprises today. Actually, sobrang simple ko lang talaga kahit parang ang arte, curated kuno and intimidating ako. SoKor x Japan x Baguio x Amazon from UK loot. WOOT. WOOT. As in. HUHUHUHUHUHU. Ang mo 'yung feeling na sobrang spoiled kong donut seeking for peace of mind szn ako? Ganun. Siguro kasi, sobrang dami lang din need to detox as we intentionally fill our glass. Need ko talagang mag-recharge as Haruki Murakami na: what I talk about when I talk about running. Pa-brainy 'yarn? Basta, ilang nare-read 'yung book. Hindi pa nabalik sa akin 'yung original book cover na version. So, ayun na nga. In fairness naman, ganda nung bagong cover kaso ang mahal po. As in. Ang mura lang nung previous edition. Going back to the loot. I got a bunso, my 4th baby as Ravenclaw pet mom. This time around, it's a Tamagochi na Harry Potter. HUHUHUHUHU. Pa-Xmas gift na raw kahit alam na scrooge ako. Sweet noh? Grabe talaga. As in kilig-kilig 100000 ako. Apaka babaw pero ganun talaga ako. Next is of course, a Royce chocolates. Hahahaha. Syempre, papaunbox ko sa frenny ko kasi namiss n'ya ako e and share sa office on Monday. TBH, I don't like chocolates except kasabay ng wine and cheese and cold cuts, so share na lang natin. Tapos tatay ko, wolfing them down e pinapapabawasan ko nga timbang kasi medyo mahina na pumadyak pero solid pa ring mambola. Hahahahahaha. Next is my Amazon pasabuy which is my crush Steven Bartlett's book, Diary of a CEO. Was hoping to get a signed copy sa pre-order kaso 'yung friend ko from London, hirap kausap. Hindi naman na ako choosy. Sana matapos ko 'to and ma-Venn Diagram ko kay Haruki Murakami. UGH. Ubos brain cells and ego na naman dito. Pero, gesi lungs for the greater good. CHZ. Forda bonus and the increase na pang-Wisteria szn x Oz hopefully next year. HUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHU.

And of course, the Good Shepherd ube jam from Baguio, my healing place na special delivery in Binondo today. Naubusan ako ng french beans na mura sooooo, next time na lang. Sanay naman akong mag-antay kahit madali akong ma-bore and mainip.
