Dragon challenger update!
Tumblr media
So I beat piers!
I have a couple revisions i want to make with my team, but really noivern/dracovish/ shiny garchomp & my ace haxorus are phenomenal.
Really, i want to drop someone for dragapult, and another for gmax Duralidon.. Even though I probably wont use gmax outside of the fight with Raihan.
All in all. My team is stupidly strong. We made it through both the ice and fairy gyms without getting swept. LOL
I may end up being overleveled for the elite 4, but i dont care. I just keep cooking and playing with my team because i am the best dragon trainer in galar. Dont @ me.

this is true
sorry about the radio silence apart from the queued posts for the past few days, folks. i'm gonna drop all these asks and then give you a bit of an explanation, as well as a possible read on the future of the blog, down at the bottom of this post, if you care to read it
Tumblr media
everyone loves appletun..! i used one to beat the champion in my first ever run of swsh because i thought it was so cute. and grass/dragon is a fun typing..! just one more way to be 4x weak to ice my belovèd
Tumblr media
i don't even remember what this is in reference to unfortunately. this is the way to get to the grass gym from motostoke, i think..! though you have to go through a route to get to the mines
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
y'know, i'm not sure! perhaps if i knew what it was based on, i could tell you better
Tumblr media
let them have it :/ they deserve it
okay. hi. you've reached the bottom. i have a confession! i have not been able to update the queue in like. a week
my commitment to uploading every pokémon in natdex order already fell off a little bit when the galar pokédex was out of order compared to the national pokédex and i was choosing to include regional forms in "natdex order" by using their placement in regional dexes. now that i've reached all the regional evolutions in the natdex, i've found that my previous methods for getting models and getting them to work are not necessarily panning out. this is, of course, for one specific pokémon: galarian farfetch'd. i believe this applies to the rest of the galarian forms that i have yet to upload, as well, as i can't seem to find models (that i know how to work with) anywhere on the internet. if you want to see the most recent state i was able to get galarian farfetch'd into, then here:
Tumblr media
it's fucked up. you may have noticed that i also didn't post galarian corsola before cursola. that's partially because i forgot it existed, and partially because i didn't have its model so i didn't know it existed because of that
i don't really know what to do here. i haven't queued up a single pokémon in about a week, and even then, the pokémon at the end of the queue you'll notice are getting progressively more and more fucked up textures-wise just because of how difficult they're getting when i can't find the proper models and i have to throw something toegether in like an hour. which! this blog never used to take me an hour! it used to be a few minutes out of my morning, at most. now mornings are taking me upwards of two hours just to get these motherfuckers working—and now i've reached a point where i can't get them working at all
from my perspective, i have two options, neither of which i want to do. option one is to just post the pokémon that i have and can get working, skipping ones that i don't have or can't get working. option two is to just go on indefinite hiatus until i can get a hold of the models and get them working. i like neither of these options!
i suppose there's a secret third option, which is that i start using in-game screenshots like i almost did for phantump that one time, but those aren't the easiest to procure when i can't perfectly manipulate the model and the camera to get the angles that have become the style of this blog
i don't want to quit when i'm this close to the end (and especially when there's so many of you waiting for your favorite pokémon), but taking two hours out of my morning to get one pokémon working is becoming a chore i relent doing, and i've become unable to do it at all now that i can't get the models to render correctly
i don't have a solution to put at the bottom of the post here! i don't have a way to say "so because of this, i'll now be doing blahblahblah" because i don't have a blahblahblah that i can do. i don't know what the best course of action is, because i have never really encountered this kind of problem on the blog before. the hiatus i took back in 2020 was for completely unrelated reasons, and like 99.9% of you weren't even here for that. and sure, only like 20 folks read these asks, let alone down this far into them, but for those of you that don't, you'll just be missing out and confused. for those of you that do, i thank you for sticking around this long. this is not goodbye, and i don't even want it to be a temporary goodbye—but it is me saying that there are 18 pokémon left in the queue and i don't know how to add any more
the best solution is probably just to post the pokémon that i can and hope the models i can't get aren't anyone's favorites. how do we all feel about that? i could always try in-game screenshots, but that'd be such a big change in styling and visuals that i dunno if i wanna go through with it. i'm at an impasse here, and i've been avoiding even talking about it because technically most of the followers of this blog couldn't care less if there was a real individual behind it—they're just here for the silly pokémon images. but, y'know, hi! here i am, i'm a real individual running this blog, and it's not that easy anymore!

Misc Thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
-The opening was definitely slower than I'd like, I was a little bored, but once you get let out to explore the world it's really fun! Very similar to Legends: Arceus but much improved. Key detail: you can pick up items while mounted! This was really annoying to not be able to do in PLA.
-I've been pretty lucky and not run into any major glitches. Sometimes the background is a little wobbly but the overworld has run okay. I definitely noticed some major lag as the game tried to load each item when I was shopping. -The world is big and exciting but still feels awfully empty. The towns have these huge wide streets and giant houses, but there's not really anything to do in them. You can't even go inside NPCs houses, there's only the shops -I feel like they split up the clothing shops in the main city to make it seem bigger and more full, but it just made shopping inconvenient. What's the point of a giant castle/city if there's nothing THERE? -I'm still not thrilled with the school uniform but it's not as ugly as I feared. Still hoping that we get some real clothes post-game, or possibly as a DLC option. (Why does the new kid get to wear her Eevee hoodie and I can't??) -that school is definitely not ADA compliant, wtf are all those stairs -I'm enjoying riding around on my giant motorcycle dragon a lot more than I thought, and Koraidon running with his legs looks a lot less stupid than it did in the trailers (he tucks his tail in to make the back "wheel"! What a cool detail!). Cannot wait to climb up walls. -Your dragon making a catlike "Brrrp!" noise when you summon it is perfect, A+, 11/10 -I do find the map a bit hard to navigate, it can be hard to find the bridges to cross rivers and such and figure out how to get to different areas. -I really really wish we could mark places on the map like BotW! I found a cool glowy sword in the ground I couldn't reach, and I know I won't remember where it is later. -The variety of pokemon available and how many new pokemon you can find are really cool. I do like that they didn't show most of the new mons because it makes them more fun to discover. I think there's also a good balance of Pokemon spread out in the grass, sometimes they clump up, sometimes they're single, but it's not obvious "sections" the way SwSh Wild Areas were. -I love that the game is like 'BTW the crater is SUPER DANGEROUS, don't go there!!' so we all know where the plot is going to end up. Spoilers on Pokemon/Evolutions below:
-I got spoiled on the starter evos and... yeah honestly not a fan of the final forms. Giant spooky crocodile is okay but not as cool as the idea I had in my head, Grass Cat is just kind of boring and similar to Delphox, and Quaxly is just... WTF. I heard "fabulous" and "peacock" before I saw the images, and I think an actual peacock would have been cool, but instead we got... that. D: Nintendo, please stop with the anthro starter evos, they're not good. -Paldean Tentacool is a horror show, I hate it. X) -Pawmi is ADORABLE, I love him. Although the 2nd and 3rd evolutions are awfully similar, seems like it could have just been a 2-stage pokemon. There are SO MANY new pokemon I want to try out, though, I keep switching things in and out of my team, it's really fun. So far my team is: Clodsire, Azumarill, middle stage Fuecoco, Pawmot(? the third one), the tiny fire megaman, and the Flamingo, which is WAY stronger than I expected. Bulbapedia says it has a base attack of 115?! That's huge! Also working on evolving the little floaty psychic thing because apparently it becomes an ostrich?! There are a lot of new bird pokemon in this game, I approve. May need to do another run someday with an all-bird team.

Honestly really enjoying the new pokemon. I am actually havin a hell of a time tryna pick out a team cuz they're all so delightful. Glad I went with Violet if only because Robot Motorcycle Dragon is super fuckin adorable. This one's definitely better than SwSh in terms of open world. Ain't run into any glitches yet but I'm only a couple hours in

Okay so this is going to be a weird post but I have to put this out there on the internet somewhere. My Pokemon conspiracy theory is that the boxart legends of most Pokemon games have been prefigured by common Pokemon in the generation before them.
Think about it people!
Upcoming in SV we have a lizard-like duality of futuristic technology and the past. You know. Like combining a fossil salamander with a stealth bomber. Dragapult prefigures the SV legends.
In SwSh, we have two wolves, split between a speedier attacker and a bulkier build. Literally they're just a legendary upgrade to the main lycanroc forms.
In SuMo, we had a sun lion and a mystical bat. Like a fire lion and a dragon bat. Pyroar is Solgaleo and Noivern is Lunala. At a push, we even have a prismatic Pokemon that has lore about transformation and a legendary. Carbink as a Necrozma precursor?
In XY we have a vulture associated with death and a deer associated with nature. Oh yeah, like a skeleton vulture? Mandibuzz? And a deer that changes with the seasons? Sawsbuck?
Then in BW we have legendaries in a set of games often said to be callbacks to RB, with the box legendaries being a physical attacking electric type and a special attacking fire type, with themes of dualism and partnership, whose ice-type counterpart is obscured and forgotten in the lore. Oh. Yeah. Electivire and Magmortar parallel that strongly.
Then back in DP we have a pair of legendaries that in the lore are treated as incredibly powerful, and have associations with time and space. This is a weirder one, but I think if you bear with me, I can explain this. Gen III was the only generation to give us two pseudolegendary Pokemon. And one (Salamence) has a metamorphosis motif (change over time) while the other (Metagross) is explicitly an alien (from space).
Now, gen III wasn't really on the horizon during the development of GS, so I don't think they did any deliberate planting for RS, but there are two flying type (therefore weather?) Pokemon whose types do correspond to the RS boxart legends: Gligar and Mantine. They are even both strong ish and (at the time) standalones in their evolutionary lines.
And of course, GS were not considered at all during development of the first generation, so the trail runs dry here.

what if we just straight up like. made a fucking swsh cookie run au or something. for the sake of fun im not gonna bother trying to make it cr story canon compliant like At All because i dont even remember any of the shit that went down with rhem LOL.. i only have 3 properly settled on for now, being allister as squid ink, raihan as ananas dragon and piers as espresso .. piers is like, there might be a cookie that fits him better ?? but idk its been a WHILE since ive been into cookie run so i dont know any of the new ones from either games. and espresso just .. feels like piers to me?? i guess he probably COULD fit as licorice too (to some extent) but i think espresso just works better for him. feels more like piers to me. leon also feels like madeleine which wasnt intentional bc i didnt choose them based on shipping and ik espresso/madeleine is like . most popular ship for both of them (or at least was when i was in the fandom) but its completely coincidental i promise </3 i just went off Vibes and what Feels Right
mixing two of my special interests now this is DANGEROUS /silly
my analysis under the cut bc thisll be Long
hmmmm lets see . for starters i really like leon as madeleine overworked guy whos trying his best to protect people fits him well <3
piers ... im actually thinking either werewolf or red velvet ! very mentally ill and introverted but cares deeply about those around him
raihans a tough one ! id agree w ananas but raihans pride seems to mostly be for public appearances. im thinking royal margarine cookie —— connections to dragons as well as caring about his appearance, while having his pride be primarily a farce. that, or pitaya, due to their competitiveness !
i did a lil thinking on it and i REALLY like allister as pumpkin pie . introverted spooky child who likes fucking with people on halloween who also has a doll-like critter that can and will kill you
bede !! hes giving strawberry crepe kinda :) genius orphan child whos snarky and has temperment issues . post-opal he definitely ends up being more like clotted cream though like that man is EXACTLY how i imagine bede to grow up being ,,, though i think espresso also fits him and his idea of being flawless at what he does ! if to a lesser extent
i could go further and start to analyze the other characters and bring ovenbreak cookies into it . but ill spare your time /silly

Oh, today is just not gonna be my kind of day, is it?
So, there I was watching the first 14 episodes of the next season of Pokémon Journeys. During the episode where Ash, Goh, Farfetch'd, and Scyther we're training with Wikstrom, I got inspired to do a playthrough of ScaVi where my character used knightly Pokémon and have an Aegislash as her ace by the end as her ace (and starter). I checked a Pokédex app on my phone...not possible. I looked at the leaks to see if the Honedge line was coming in the DLCs. Nope. So now my options are down to Gallade or (if I were to play Violet) Ceruledge. I already used a Ceruledge on my main Violet file, though, so that really only leaves two options: Gallade...or playing SwSh, where Honedge aren't available early without mystery trades (and who's still playing SwSh with ScaVi still being so new?) and is infuriating to find. Now you might be thinking "But VP, just use Home to transfer a Honedge and Ditto to a new file.", but that's no good either. I only have three of my eight profiles registered to a Nintendo account, and none of them have gotten one file far enough to catch a Honedge, and both of my main profile's files are already complete. I'm also not one to delete a file, especially not one that's completed the main story. I've only done so when I was little and bored on the original R/B/Y, with Sapphire so I could start over as a girl with a Torchic, and most recently with Moon after depositing all my Pokémon in Bank so I could play as a girl. (I got my copy of Moon as a Christmas gift from my parents, and while they both knew and [mostly] accepted me as trans, I didn't want to push my luck, so I chose the male character the first time around.) Well, at least those first 14 episodes of the new season of the anime were good.
Update: I have chosen my team for the main story, and here they are:
Tumblr media
And now how each Pokémon fits in with my theme of being a knight.
Gallade - Well, besides having sword elbows, it also has part of "Gallant" - a term often used when describing a heroic knight - in its name. Also, due to fighting type being strong against the dark type, and the dark type being the "evil type" in Japanese, fighting can also be a "justice" type.
Ceruledge - The darker colors can give off "dark knight" vibes, it has swords for hands, and (as a Charcadet), will be much like a squire as far as the story in my head goes.
Corviknight - While a bit big for a messenger bird in its final form, it does have "knight" in its name. I was originally going to go with Talonflame, and I still plan to catch one, it just won't be part of the main team.
Noivern - Okay, I know knights are traditionally known for slaying dragons and the only Pokémon we can ride are the box legendaries, but Noivern here will fill the role of the knight's loyal steed. Also (different series, I know) there are Wyvern Knights in many Fire Emblem games, so yeah.
Tinkaton - While I did also use a Tinkaton on my main team, it does have a big hammer. And which profession makes both armor and weaponry for knights /and/ use hammers to do so? Blacksmiths.
Lycanroc Midday - While I myself am more of a cat person, dogs (like knights) are known to be loyal pets and can be used to track scents and assisted in hunting when it was more of a necessity than a sport. Of course, the closest we'll get to "hunting" is collecting item drops, sparkly items, and buying sandwich ingredients.
And so I give you my team for this run. Let me know what you think (if you want to).

MK SO-
I just got the Pokémon SWSH DLCs and I was wondering what it would be like for some legendary Pokémon to come to twst and cause some trouble(Legendarys I’d like to do ( you c an pick just one: Kyogre, Giratina, or Groudon)
If you can i want it to be just Diasomina!
This turned out longer than I expected and I got so mad with myself because I was almost done with writing this and I accidently deleted all my new work, so I had to start over from my last save point which is one of the reasons it took so long to post.
I’ve been binge playing the old Sinnoh games and rewatching the anime, so this was fun to write (despite me deleting my work).
This will have references to the Pokémon Platinum game, so spoilers if you haven’t played the game and plan to.
Hope you enjoy!
Malleus's favorite time of the day was night time. Night time was the best!
The world was at peace, it was quiet, everything was asleep, save for a few nocturnal creatures much like himself, he could hide from SIlver and Sebek and have some time to himself, and there were no students or humans who would see him and run away in terror.
But his favorite thing about night time was probably when he got to visit his favorite human, (Y/n).
Their situation was a bit odd, having appeared out of nowhere from a world full of creatures called Pokémon, but Malleus didn't care. They weren't afraid of him. After spending a lifetime of having people fear him due to his name, it was a nice change.
Malleus arrived at the Ramshackle dorm to find you already sitting outside, cleaning your Empoleon's feathers.
"Greetings, Child of Man." He greeted, happily walking up to you.
"Hey, Tsunotaro." You smiled, putting down Empoleon's brush to wave at him.
That was another thing Malleus adored about you. Even after finding out who he was, you still didn't fear him and continued calling him by that amusing nickname you gave him.
You both entered the dorm, along with Empoleon, and he was instantly greeted with the rest of your strange creatures. Luxray, Togekiss, Glaceon, Garchomp, and Lucario.
You headed over to the kitchen to make some tea while he got comfortable on the couch. Once he was seated, Garchomp laid its head on Malleus's lap, implying that it wanted scratches.
By the time you had returned with two mugs of steaming tea, all the other Pokémon had already gotten comfortable and most had fallen asleep.
You handed Malleus his mug before sitting down in your chair. Glaceon hopped up and curled up in your lap before falling back asleep.
After you both got comfortable, you began regaling Malleus with stories of your world.
Malleus loved hearing your stories.
From your gym battle challenges to your contests. Catching all your Pokémon and even receiving an egg from a woman named Cynthia that hatched into a Togepi that which layer evolved into your beloved Togekiss.
Malleus has never left the Valley of Thorns, except for school, so he enjoyed hearing about your travels. Your freedom to journey and see so many different places, never being tied down, he envied it.
“May I see your badges and ribbons again?” He asked.
“Sure.” You agreed, getting up to grab them.
At the movement, Glaceon, rather huffily, got up from your lap and moved to Malleus, curling up on his lap instead. He instantly started stroking her with one hand while the other continued scratching Garchomp. He only stopped when you handed him your badge and ribbon case.
He immediately opened them both and admired your impressive 7 badges and 5 sparkling ribbons.
You had told him that even though you had collected the required number of ribbons, you were transported to Twisted Wonderland before you could compete in the Grand Festival. You also hadn’t yet had the chance to earn your 8th and final gym badge, which allowed you to challenge the Elite Four and the Sinnoh Champion.
“They are very impressive, Child of Man.” Malleus complemented.
Even though there wasn’t a gym challenge or contests in Twisted Wonderland, Malleus could tell how much value each badge and ribbon you earned had.
“Thanks, Tsunotaro.” You beamed, positively preening at the complement. “Maybe when I find a way home you could come with me and have your own journey. There are a bunch of dragon type Pokémon I bet you’d like. Maybe your starter could be an Axew. Or a Dino. Maybe a Gible seeing how well you get along with Garchomp. There are also rock or electric types. OOH- Maybe a fairy type!”
Malleus tuned your rambling out. His head was both empty and racing.
Him? Go on a journey in another world? The idea was preposterous! Yet... also tempting.
Traveling around with no chains. Nobody knowing who he was, thus no one quivering at the sight of him. No overbearing, but well meaning, guards to coddle him. He liked this idea!
Unfortunately, he didn’t have long to dwell on the tempting daydream when Ramshakle’s door slammed open with a loud bang.
“WAKA-SAMA!!!”
Speak of the devil.
You and Malleus turned to the doorway to a disheveled and hysterical looking Sebek and a normal sleepy looking Silver.
“Sebek.” Malleus greeted, hiding his annoyance of being interrupted during his time with his Child of Man.
“Waka-sama, you mustn’t leave without telling us! What if something happens to y-”
The half-fae was cut off by and ice beam, freezing him solid. You and Malleus looked over at Glaceon who was angry about having her sleep disturbed for a third time. Now quite irritated and huffy, Glaceon angrily marched upstairs to try and get some sleep in your room.
“My apologies.” You jumped when Lilia appeared behind you without warning, hanging upside down as usual. “They ran off when I wasn’t looking.”
You looked back at the other Diasomnia residence. Silver had already fallen asleep, using Togekiss’s soft, feathery body as a pillow, while Sebek was slowly beginning to thaw out of the ice.
You wish you could say this is the weirdest thing to ever happen with them.
After having Lucario use force-palm and free Sebek, you all sat down near the fire.
(You left Silver be since he was already asleep.)
Sebek wanted to know what was so fascinating about you that Waka-sama would continuously come visit you.
The only thing you could think of was telling them about your journey.
“After I won my seventh gym badge at Snowpoint, I had to meet my friend, Barry, at Lake Acuity and right after that I had to meet with Professor Rowan and Lucas at Lake Verity.”
“Why did you have to go to those lakes?” Lilia asked, genuinely curious as to what value they had.
“Uh, well-- mmh-- pthbbt.” You tried to think of a way to avoid that question, or at least dance your way around it, and the stuttering and raspberry blowing was obviously helping you be discreet in avoiding the question.
“GLACE!!”
A loud yell echoed from upstairs thatw as loud enough to wake even Silver. You were momentarily grateful that you had been interrupted before realizing ‘Oh shit that’s my Pokémon.”
“Glaceon!” You yelled, bolting from your chair and rushing up the stairs with your Pokémon and the Diasomnia boys at your heels.
You opened your bedroom door with a loud bang and saw Glaceon in a defensive stance, hissing at the mirror with Grim looking frazzled.
“Fgaah! Minion, control your Pokémon! I was asleep and then it started shouting and tried to attack the mirror!” He yelled angrily, before stalking off to the living room to continue sleeping.
You sighed before looking over at the mirror. You held out your arm towards your Pokémon so they knew not to do anything yet. You inched closer to the mirror, pausing only for a second to pet Glaceon and calm her down a bit. You walked forward a few more steps until you were face-to-face with the mirror.
Now that you were closer, you could see the shadow of something moving within the glass. You didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t Micky. You leaned a bit closer, trying to make out the figure--
“GIRATINA!!”
Everything went black.
~
The first thing you noticed when you could see again was that you were clearly not in your room. Or your dorm for that matter.
Everything was weird. You weren’t sure of any other way to describe it other than weird.
Weird and familiar.
“The Reverse World.” You muttered, shocked by your sudden return to the feared Giratina’s playground.
You didn’t have long to stay dumbfounded when you remembered the Legendary who lived in this world. You frantically looked around you and saw that your team and the boys were with you, which did nothing to curb your panic. Grim wasn’t with you all, so you assumed hoped that he was still at Ramshackle.
You first woke up your Pokémon. They freaked out for a second before realizing where they were, putting them all on guard. They carefully scanned their surroundings for anything they found threatening while you quickly crawled over to the boys, traying to shake them awake.
“Get up. Guys, get up! We need to move!”
The Diasomnia boys hardly registered what was happening and where they were before you pulled them away. Your team created a barrier around you all as you lead the boys through the strange new world. All they could do was look around wildly.
“Careful, gravity gets weird here.” You warned them.
True to your words, the piece of land you all were walking on started to curve in the air until you all started walking upside down. Even Lilia, who was used to hanging upside down, was a bit thrown off about this.
“What is this place?” Silver asked what everyone was thinking, knowing that you were the only one who could give any of them an answer.
“The Distortion World.” You explained. “Also known as the Reverse World. It’s kind of like the Underworld of my world.”
That explanation only provided them with more questions but went they entered a place that had these large bubbles floating around them they were quickly distracted.
“Hey,” Silver called, gaining everyone’s attention. “This thing has headmaster Crowley in it.”
Said bubble did have a picture of Crowley in his office, working late into the night. Huh. Who know he actually did anything.
Silver raised a hand towards the bubble.
“No, don’t touch it!” You exclaimed. Unfortunately it was a second to late and the bubble popped at the slightest graze of Silver’s fingers.
The boys looked over to you at the sound of you yell, seeing your panicked expression.
“Don’t. Touch. Anything.” You order, stressing out each word. “Everything in this world effects the real world. If you aren’t careful you could kill someone through this place.
The boys looked positively alarmed.
“Will the headmaster be alright?”
You waved off their concern, continuing to lead the way. “He’ll be fine. Popping that bubble didn’t kill him, but it did feel like he was hit with a bowling ball.
“How do you know this? How do you know so much about this place, (Y/n).” Lilia asked, dead serious.
You glance over your shoulder at them before sighing.
Guess it was time to come clean.
“There are some things that happened during my journey that I didn’t tell you guys about.” You confessed.
“While journeying through Sinnoh, I constantly ran into an organization called Team Galactic. Their leader, Cyrus, believed that the world was ugly and needed to be destroyed. His plan was to capture the legendary Pokémon, Palkia and Dialga, and the Lake Guardians, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Those three were the reason I met Barry and Professor Rowan at the lakes, Lilia, to try and save the Lake Guardians from Team Galactic. Anyway, Cyrus claimed that he was going to create his own, perfect world using the powers of the legendary Pokémon. At least I think that was his plan. He talks like Shakespeare and I have a middle school education. Anyway, before he could create his ‘perfect world’ Giratina appeared and took Cyrus away to here, the Distortion World. This is Giratina’s domain.”
The boys were stunned into silence. They knew you were strong, but for you to have done all that as well as fighting overblots? They were truly impressed.
“What happened afterwards?” Malleus questioned, enthralled by your story.
“Cynthia, the current Sinnoh Champion, and I entered the Distortion World to save Cyrus. Unfortunately, he saw this place as his ideal world and didn’t want to leave. In the end, we had to use force and I beat him in a battle. And, after that, I had to face Giratina itself. But, I don’t know how, but before I could face it, the Dark Mirror called me to Twisted Wonderland.”
You stopped walking, taking a deep breath before turning to face the boys.
“We need to find Giratina. Giratina’s the only Pokémon that can travel between worlds and its the only thing that can get us back to Night Raven.”
Your tone alone was enough to my the Diasomnia boys understand the severity of the situation.
“Human, if this creature is as powerful as you claim, then how do you expect to get it?” Sebek interrogated.
You reached into your pocket and pulled out a purple ball with an ‘M’ on it, showing it the the boys.
“This is a master ball. I stole it from Cyrus’s base when I went to save the Lake Guardians. It can catch any Pokémon without fail. All we need to do is find Giratina.”
“Lucar!”
“Luxray!”
You all turned to Lucario and Luxray who were growling in the same direction. Looking closely, you could see something coming at you all. Your team took their battle stances and sure enough, there was the Angel of Darkness itself, Giratina.
Even Malleus had to admit, that creature was terrifying.
It looked like a dragon and centipede mixed together, but it towered over everything, easily dwarfing them all.
You waisted no time.
“Empoleon, Hydro Cannon!” You ordered. Even Sebek had to admit that your authoritative tone was hard to ignore and resist, full of confidence and superiority.
Empoleon listened without question, fearlessly attacking the towering giant.
“Lucario, Aura Sphere! Glaceon, Ice Beam! Luxray, Thunder! Garchomp, Dragon Rush!”
All your Pokémon attacked at once, hitting Giratina square on. The legendary screeched before firing a move of its own that your team narrowly avoided.
“Great job. Keep attacking!” You ordered shooing the boys out of Giratina’s firing range.
“What do we need to do to help, (Y/n)?” Malleus asked. He was already gripping his pen, ready to fight.
“Nothing. Just stay put and don’t move.” You ordered sternly. The boys were stunned.
“What?! (Y/n) we can help-”
“I know you can help,” You cut off. “But I don’t need to defeat Giratina. I just need to distract it.”
You ran off before they could question what you meant, whistling for your Pokémon.
“Togekiss!” You called, jumping off the edge of the land and easily getting caught by your flying type, who flew you behind Giratina.
You let your team get in one last group attack before throwing the master ball at Giratina.
The legendary effortlessly went in and after a spectacular dive made by you and Togekiss, you caught the ball and returned to the boys.
The boys ran over to you as you climbed off Togekiss, looking at the ball in your hand.
“I can’t believe you actually caught it, human!” Sebek exclaimed, flabbergasted.
“Thanks, Sebek.”
“So what now?” Silver asked. The group all turned to you expectedly and you rolled your eyes before turning around to the wide open space and releasing Giratina from the master ball.
“Giratina,” You called, “Please take us back.”
Giratina stared down at you before letting out an echoing screech and lowing its head to your level.
Immediately understanding what it wanted you to do, you crawled onto its head before waving the boys over.
“C’mon. We its going to take us back.”
Hesitantly, the boys climbed on with your Pokémon and once everyone was on, Giratina soared through the air.
This was different from riding a broom or riding Togekiss, who was happily flying beside you all, but it was exhilarating at the same time.
Too soon for anyone’s tastes, Giratina slowed down to a stop before lowering itself down so that everyone could climb off.
The place were Giratina dropped you all off was a small patch of land with two lakes on it. You and the boys could see your bedroom in one of the lakes, making you realize that you were looking through your bedroom mirror.
“Alright!” You cheered. “Let’s get back.” But before you could step through the reflection, Empoleon called out to you.
“Empoleon!”
“Huh? What is it, Empoleon?”
He was looking in the other lake, pointing at something.
You, your team, and the boys looked through the refection and you couldn’t restrain the gasp that left your mouth.
You could see the Mesprit, the guardian of Lake Verity.
“That’s Mesprit, Lake Verity’s guardian!” You exclaimed, coming to several realizations at once. “That’s close to Twinleaf Town. I-I could go home!”
You turned to your team and the Diasomnia boys, your eyes sparking with both joy and a few unshed tears. “With Giratina we can go home and still stay in Twisted Wonderland!”
Mallues watched you with soft eyes. He had seen a side if you tonight that he had never seen before. Your courage, your confidence, your skill. He had these too, but yours stemmed from experience. This wasn’t something you were taught since you were born like him, these were abilities you learned through trial and error with your team. Something that he wanted.
With a new found determination, Malleus turned to his most trusted knights and friends.
“Lilia, Silver, Sebek,” He began, quickly gaining everyone's attention, “I have decided that until it is time for me to receive the crown from my grandmother, I want to travel (Y/n)’s world with a Pokémon of my own.”
Even you weren’t expecting that announcement.
“WHAT?! WAKA-SAMA ARE YOU FEELING WELL?!?!? WE MUST GET YOU TO AN INFIMERORY!!”
“I’m fine, Sebek. And I’m not joking.”
“WHAAAAAAAT?!?! YOU, HUMAN, YOU HAVE GIVEN WAKA-SAMA THIS DANGEROUS IDEA!!”
“I think its a great idea.”
“MASTER LILIA?!?!”
“zzzzz”
You couldn’t help snorting at the scene in front of you. A rather calm Malleus simply being unmovable about his choice of coming home with you, a hysterical Sebek trying to talk him out of it, an impish looking Lilia who actually supported Malleus’s idea, and a snoozing silver, who could still sleep effortlessly despite the chaos surrounding him.
You leaned up against Empoleon’s belly, him and all your other Pokémon already lying down, knowing that this was going to take a while. Even Giratina was curled up!
But, You thought, watching the group was a soft smile, you know that no matter how much you wanted to go home, you would've missed this. And this, your friends and NRC, was something that you never wanted to lose.
Bonus:
After sorting everything out with Crowley, you returned to your world to reconcile with your friends and your mom. It took some explaining, but bringing Grim back with you as well as Malleus with his magic and horns was enough to convince everyone what happened to you.
Afterwards, you were able to compete in the Grand Festival. You didn’t end up winning, however you did make it to the finals. Your opponent, Dawn, had only beaten you by a few points.
The Diasomnia gang, as well as Grim, the Adeuce combo, and the Pomefiore Trio were all present to see this and couldn’t have been prouder.
Once the Grand Festival had come to a close, you headed over to Sunnyshore City and won your 8th and final Gym Badge, permitting you to challenge the Elite Four and Cynthia.
The Pomefiore Trio didn’t watch these challenges, but the other did.
Their nerves were through the roof when you finally faced Cynthia. And when your Garchomp miraculously out sped her Garchomp with the finishing move nobody cheered louder.
In the end, you took Malleus to the place where you caught Garchomp back when he was still a Gible and caught Malleus his own, whom he unironically named ‘Gargoyle.’
Malleus did have to return to the Valley of Thorns, but not without you promising that the upcoming summer would be the start of his own Pokémon Journey.
I wrote most of this forgetting about Grim, so sorry he doesn’t have a bigger role or more screen time.
Fun story; I got in trouble for writing down my ideas for this at work even though I did it while the store was dead and I’ve worked there for nearly two years and have either written something or drawn something almost every shift I have. Litterally no one but the manager to caught me cares.
And, just to irritate me more (whether she was aware of it or not), said manager takes my writings and decides to read them and then proceeds to put them back in the wrong order before lecturing me.
So, yeah, that was fun.

Headcanons for Shieldbert and Sordward being cousins/related to Ingo and Emmet?
(It's an idea that always intrigued me, esp since they share a lot of similarities!)
Tumblr media
I can see that being a possibility, like the SwSh twins being somehow related to Emmet and Ingo (I feel like cousins is more likely). They do indeed share a lot of similarities.
They both have at least one steel type Pokemon in their team. Sordward: Doublade, Bisharp. Shielbert: Bronzong, Klingklang. Emmet: Durant. Ingo: Excadrill, Klingklang (The fact both Shielbert and Ingo have a Kilngklang on their team is a bruh moment-).
They all tend to use the color blue and red for clothing options (maybe even the color black and white as well).
The SwSh twins are royalty and claim in every single sentence that they’re descendants of the first kings. Correct me if I’m wrong but in the Pokemon Black and White lore, wasn’t there like these twin heroes with the dragons or some shit? Emmet and Ingo are twins in Unova so yeah-that’s kinda sus fam.
They kinda have weird hairstyles, I don’t need to explain Sordward and Shielbert. But Emmet and Ingo have those gray things on the side of their face (looks like knives, you can barely miss it) and I’ve never seen people having that lifestyle.
They’re not really what you consider “normal”, since Emmet and Ingo have this muppet-ass looking face (they even act a bit robotic in the manga, but they’re still cool ;w;) when Sordward and Shielbert are just assholes and they have this need to mention that they’re royalty every time they talk with those dumb hair (definitely not cool, be nice).
The way they talk is also something that’s kinda oof, Ingo screams “BRAVO” any chance he gets, Emmet says things like “I am Emmet” or says words like “verrrrrrrrrrry”. Sordward and Shielbert talking all pompous like; hey, did we tell you that we’re royalty?
This one is something no one expected and has ever thought before, you won’t believe number 6 of this life hack I’m about to tell you; they’re twins.
(I’m sure there’s more points I’m missing, but you get it, hopefully)
I don’t think Ingo would be overly happy to come to the realization that he is related to those two. Like how can you tell everyone “listen, I’m related to these things, please don’t think less of me-”, now he has like three trouble makers to supervise, like looking away for a second could cause disaster. Wouldn’t be surprising that they test his patience at least every hour. But at least he finds Shielbert a bit tolerable. That’s a plus.
For Emmet, it would probably be a joy ride but also a bit of a nightmare realization (similar to Ingo, “why, I didn’t choose this path-”), but at least he has an excuse to terrorize the two everyday. And he would probably point and laugh whenever Sordward does something funny and gets in trouble (“haha dumb dumb idiot”). And throw Joltiks at Shielbert for the funny just to see him screech like hell and run.
I think the only thing that changes for Sordward is that he now respects the Subway Bosses more (or Subway Masters, never really knew the actual name) since they’re relatives to him. And whenever he fucks shit up now, he can use the excuse (like Emmet does) of “in my defense, Ingo left me unsupervised so-”, he can now flood all of the bathrooms with “barely” any consequences. Perhaps even going to jail afterwards, Ingo always has to bail him out-
I feel like for Shielbert it would be a waking nightmare, like he has a cousin that’s obsessed with bugs (and throws them at him) and harasses him non-stop. But he would also worry about their reputations, like just because he and his older brother fuck shit up, he doesn’t want others to assume Emmet and Ingo will also fuck shit up (or to have the same reputation just because they’re related). But nonetheless, he would be nice towards them (like a good boi).
I know this sounds like every single family gathering, but it’s true-

Considering all of the artifacts in Pokémon that are over a thousand years old. Red Chain, TAZ's weapon from X and Y, the Odd Keystone, The Reveal Glass, the Prison Bottle, The Red and Blue orbs, the Tidal and Clear bells and the Eon Flute and the presence of the Ghost type. As well as the Regi's and how they were sealed. Magic was definitely an element of the ancient Pokémon world but in modern day it's all but gone. Where did it go? What happened to it?
Hi there namelessbaron!  I personally think that magic is still there honestly. I think (as in many works of fiction that have magic in the past) is that technology superceded the need for widespread magic use. It’s still there as we still see humans in modern day with magic powers (like the Lorekeepers of the Draconids or the aura guardians) as well as the ghost type, and fairy, dragon and psychic types as well.
Think about the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town. Ghost types (and literal ghosts) run rampant there. You have hex maniacs and channelers who have some sort magic ability to see Ghosts but then you also have the Silph Scope, a piece of technology that can do the same thing as the hex maniacs/channelers can.
An even better example is the dilemma of the Regis. They had to be sealed in the past and the ancient humans used magic to do so. But nowadays a Pokeball could do the same job, particularly a Master Ball, Heavy Ball or Quick Ball. Pokeballs in general are mass produced so it would be easier to to just fling some Pokeballs at the Regis than hiring a magic user (or several) to seal them in a cave.
The presence of aura guardians, lorekeepers, hex maniacs, channelers, espers, fairy tale girls and even dragon tamers shows that the magic of Pokemon world is still there and that it’s practice is being passed down through generations. One of the recurring themes in Pokemon is the battle between tradition vs progress. I feel like many in the Pokemon world prefer tradition and would seek out the magic. And sometimes the magic might still be the best or only way to handle a problem (think of the rusted sword and shield in SwSh, the lunar wing to cure Darkrai’s nightmares, or the Sun and Moon flutes in SM/USUM). The magic still has it’s place, it’s just not as needed in the average person’s everyday life in the modern Pokemon timeline.
Now it would be interesting to see how in Pokemon Legends: Arceus the magic of the Pokemon world might be portrayed. On the one hand we see an old timey Pokeball, but we also know that this world does not have the technological advances we see in the modern timeline games. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more of a magical presence with Pokemon Legends in the form of more active aura guardian and channelers and maybe even new classes of NPCs that do magic healing or something else.

My Computer Is Terrible So I'm Stating My Story Ideas Here Part 9: This is gonna be very f-ing vague but it has Lore Keeper Sonia in it and that all that matters.......and my oc x Leon ship I guess.
Okay okay okay
Swsh Fantasy/Medieval/Royalty Au
You love it. I love it. Will I write about it? Eh. Will I gush about it? Absolutely.
So so so
Some random things that I'm thinking about.
I'm going full ramble here prepare yourself.
Lore. Keeper. Sonia. My. Beloved.
Let her have an active role dammit
For what idk but it'll be something!
Also King Leon cause duh
With Raihan as his number 1 knight. The only one who can at least match him in battle
Also his bff( along with Sonia)
Being a young king Leon had less time to interact with those he cares about
Like Hop
Also Prince Hop My Beloved
So like
The plot is very vague but like
The basic idea is that there's a threat of a dragon or something similar to the sort
And ofc King Leon and his best knight will go to the threat themselves since soldiers they sent has note returned so better go themselves to not loose anymore men
So as they prepare to leave Sonia comes along and is like " I'm coming with you I know about these Legends of the Land that might help you" and Leon is like " No it's do dangerous" and they fight about while Raihan is in the background like " oh damn" before Leon uses his status as a king and orders Sonia to not interfere which really blows a whole into their already stained friendship
It also causes Raihan to question if his relationship with Leon is that they're actually friends or it's just of a king and his knight ( only professional)
Leon in all of this is feeling very bad but Rose is like " you did what you had to do" and tries to encourage Leon about his abilities/ status/ relationships.
Rose is Leon's counselor/ Duke/ idfc but he's there
Change in perspective: it's hops turn
His whole thing is that when he was really young he used to be bff's with this girl( Naomi) but the problem is that no has seen her AND one day she just disappeared like that one guy in the meme so no one believes him when he says that she exist
So up until now he was taught to believe that he was imagining things and that this girl didn't really exist until he started having weird dreams about someone calling him to fulfill some prophecy of sword and shield or whatever and each time this person mentions Naomi, his childhood friend
And in his dreams it's said that they have to go to the place Leon and Raihan are going to fulfill the prophecy
So now Hop's like " well dang I guess I have to fulfill this prophecy but there's no way that Lee would let me go with him-" ( cause he overheard Lee's and Sonia's fight) " so who can I ask?"
Piers that's who!!!
Idk if he's gonna be a duke or part of a gang of thieves not how tf does hop know about him but he does and we're gonna role with it
THIS IS GETTING ODDLY SPECIFIC FIR SOMETHING THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE F-ING VAGUE
Also Marnie tags along too because of course she does
They somehow tag Bede along who was going to stop them but they forced him to come anyway
BACK TO LEON
A day before they leave Raihan is like " we should head to the market for extra supplies " and Leon's like " yeah sure" so they head to the market
While they're there Leon bumps into a stranger with black clock with neon blue highlights aka Alexis!!!!
And Alexis drops a few things most notable a compass of sort but before Leon can say anything Alexis just snatches it out of Leon's hands and walks off without a word
And Leon's like " rude" but honestly doesn't think of it
So the next day they're actually leaving for real and after a long while on the road Raihan thinks that some snuck on their carriage only to find out it was just Sonia because she's a bad bitch like that
And Leon obviously makes a fuss because she went against his orders but she's like " I know more about * insert place* more than the two of you combined!" ( Well not really, and Raihan is fairly knowledgeable about Legends and history and and stuff but I need a reason for Sonia to be there okay)
They fight for a bit before Raihan gets in between the two and is like " we're too far to go back now and she might be a big help so stop fighting" and they stop for the time being.
Que travel sequence with both parties having shenanigans
Leon and Sonia fighting
Hop and Bede fighting
Marnie honestly vibing
Piers being tired of everything and rethinking his life choices
Raihan honesty having to be the middle man before snapping himself and now all three of them are not on good terms ( oh you thought it was just gonna be Alexis x Leon angst? Ha! The games gave me both to much and to little content to work with. Suffer)
Another perspective change but it's Alexis this time!!!!!
In the game canon he had a relatively light scar on his right eye. Well now it's worse :)
In this Au he was cursed by a certain green haired man( Ghetsis) (I'm going to dread tagging this aren't I ), who was an evil warlock and king( or Alexis' Homeland and by force I must add)that Alexis defeated cause he was once a hero
Bascically he's cursed to have the appearance and abilities to a half-dragon
So for the most part he looks human with a few things akin to Zekrom minus the tail.
To be specific his arms and legs are both seemingly chard black, with slightly visible lightning marks. they glow blue when he's using magic/ his powers. His eyes ( well eye) is like Zekrom's
While that sounds cool, his new abilities give Alexis a lot of pain, as his body isn't suited for it
And because big that he can't really control his new powers so he's not only hurting himself but also those around him.
As much as I want to go the route of he runs away from his family and friends to look for a cure and protect them this guy Formerly had no clue how magic worked he just used it, so he had to ask those around him who did to help him
Which involves the dragon that everyone is looking for as it is said to sap energy of any kind, which would reverse his curse.
This dragon is called Eternatus
The problem is that this same dragon is known to to use it's energy to cause destruction around it and Alexis is like yeah no, and goes off to find another way with Elliot and N since both Cheren and Bianca have they're own duties and N knows about the curse being Ghetsis' son
The compass is magic and it's away for each of them to tell where the other is and use for communication
It's also used to detect magic!
So yeah this compass is very important
Along they're travels the twins have this very strange dream regarding Naomi but they notice that A) she's wearing a necklace that was once owned by their uncle before he moved away to start a family.
So they rightfully assume that this girl is their cousin
The second thing they notice is that Eternatus is literally right behind her and is causing her A LOT of pain.
Bascically she's begging them to come save her because she's gonna die if they don't
If your wondering why she didn't contact Hop it's because she assumed that Hop had forgotten about her so she thought it would be pointless. Not the spirits/ the wolves though!
So know the twins have no choice but to go find Eternatus and rescue Naomi because why wouldn't they she's in trouble and they're cousin !!!!
So they tell N the gist and make they're way to the kingdom that Leon rules and Alexis bumps into Leon yada yada yada you get it
And after that they leave for Eternatus.
I have a lot more ideas but this is getting waaaaay to long so I'm just gonna make a part 2/ part 10.
Seriously this is very fun to think about as I love the fantasy genre.
TDLR: This is awfully specific for something that's supposed to be very vague. Also Lore Keeper Sonia my Beloved ( I know I didn't talk about her much but just know I love her dearly)
If anyone have any ideas or just want to brainstorm with me, feel free to tell me!

Eternatus!!!!
Eternatus is a MASSIVE vaguely skeleton Poison/Dragon-type dragon thing. At 65’07”, or 20.0m, it’s by far the longest pokemon in existence, surpassing even the comically huge Wailord. It’s a pretty creative design, resembling an Ultra Beast in terms of aesthetic, albeit much less aesthetically cohesive than any of them if you ask me. It’s also impossible to talk about without going over Sword and Shield’s trainwreck of a plot, which bein’ real I’m super not excited to do. It’s a mess, guys :(
Tumblr media
So uh. How to start this. Eternatus is a Legendary pokemon sustained by absorbing energy emanating from the Galar region into the core on its chest. 3,000 years ago, there was an event called the Darkest Day (Black Night in Japan, which sounds far cooler), in which Eternatus attempted to draw out an excessive amount of energy and created a black storm. This storm caused numerous pokemon in the region to enter their Dynamax and Gigantamax states, which then all went berserk and rampaged throughout Galar, nearly destroying it. It only ended when Zacian and Zamazenta defeated Eternatus in battle, stopping the phenomenon.
Tumblr media
Come present day, Chairman Rose is attempting to bring about the Darkest Day AGAIN, because like. Apparently Galar will run out of Dynamax energy? But like, not for a thousand more years. Rose just has a lot of anxiety over this or something. It’s kinda framed as a clumsy climate change analogue which frankly makes for a terrible plot given climate change is an issue RIGHT NOW, not a thousand years in the future, and trying to fix it is a GOOD THING and not at all comparable to summoning a draconic apocalypse. Like, what are people supposed to glean from this? That major issues don’t matter right now and also it’s not worth trying to fix them? The whole thing’s a dumpster fire.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Rose succeeds at restraining Eternatus during the player and Leon’s Championship Match, because apparently even waiting a single day was out of the question. Then he predictably couldn’t control it and the Darkest Day happens again, with Eternatus then absorbing enough energy to transform into its Eternamax state, which is uh. A giant hand coming out of a spiral-shaped thing, I guess. It’s also 328’01” (or 100.0m) long now, which is incomprehensibly huge, and its weight is just listed as ???. I like how they’re really pushing the boundary of what qualifies as a pokemon, but it doesn’t really mesh with the base form or make any sort of conceptual sense. Eternamax Eternatus also isn’t actually accessible to the player, which is unfortunate. But yeah, Zacian and Zamazenta appear and help defeat it again and the player catches it and all is well!
Tumblr media
Shiny Eternatus is a deep crimson, which is cool but it doesn’t contrast the red glow as well. I like it well enough, though. Not that it matters since it’s shiny-locked and you can’t get one :v
All that said, though I don't dislike Eternatus, I don't particularly like it either. The idea of a poisonous skeleton dragon is GREAT, but Eternatus’s execution just feels soulless. The Ultra Beasts all had a similarly weird aesthetic, but they all still felt solidly designed, and they were typically packed with a whole lot of personality. Eternatus is just kind of a mess of pointy spinal columns haphazardly glued together with no real substance to it, literally or figuratively. And it's mired by its association with SwSh's abysmal plot, which doesn't help either. At least it's got a pretty colour scheme going for it, though, and the sheer weirdness of the Eternamax form in particular earns it a lot of respect.
Pointy spine hand-dragon/10.

hurgh....ace attorney but its pokemon
i boot up my switch. i check the news. i see the trailer for the crown tundra. i immediately get pokemon brainrot
anyway heres some half-baked ideas for an au with some help from ppl in the narumitsu discord gdsngksns (it got long so it’s under the cut)
gym leaders. everyone’s a gym leader. also i’m stealing the concept of the gym challenge from swsh because that SLAPS
whatever region theyre in thats based on japanifornia it’s pretty lax with their gym leaders. the gyms have to be branded based on what type they specialise in but the gym leaders can use basically whatever they want. as a result a lot of them lean more heavily on specific gimmicks during battle (remember how half of raihans team isnt even dragon type because they have weather abilities? yeah that but everyone could get away with it if they wanted to)
phoenix, larry, and miles did their gym challenge at the same time, that’s how they met and became friends. larry bailed out after the 7th gym, phoenix lost to miles in the semifinals and miles lost the final match of the finals, before he could get a chance to face the champion
miles moved to another region a few months after the gym challenge, and when phoenix turned 18 he moved to the other side of the region for college, so they lost touch for a few years. they meet again when they all become gym leaders in the same year. they’ve all changed a lot but they recognise each other almost instantly.
the first gym challenge after they become gym leaders is also when maya, klavier and apollo sign up for the gym challenge. (maybe trucy, athena and pearl as well but wouldnt they be super young i dunno)
oh yeah gym leaders.......hang on here they are in order
gumshoe - runs a normal type gym, but his team actually consists almost entirely of dogs. his partner is a bibarel.
phoenix - runs a fire type gym. i didn’t put any thought into this. the only reason he’s a fire gym leader in this au is because someone in the narumitsu server mentioned him having a fletchling as his partner and i liked the idea too much. his partner is a talonflame.
larry - runs a psychic type gym. this comes as a shock to basically everyone because “psychic-type specialist” brings about a certain mental image and he aint it, chief. he just thinks psychic types are neat. also he has an alakazam who hates him. his partner is an espeon.
mia - runs a ghost type gym, but she doesn’t lean into it that much. i don’t know what her gimmick is. her partner is a froslass or a chandelure (i never decided. i could see diego being a fire type specialist and giving her a litwick as a gift)
iris & dahlia - run a fairy type gym together. they inherited it from someone, probably. their gym’s main gimmick is double battles, which doesn’t work out great for them. they’re incredibly competent trainers on their own, but in double battles they’re rarely on the same wavelength. iris’ partner is a mimikyu. dahlia’s partner is a galarian weezing (or maybe a salazzle)
kristoph - runs a poison type gym. i thought it was funny. i never bothered to figure out what his partner is because i haven’t played aa4 in a LONG time.
blackquill - runs a flying type gym. his team is all birds, and they’re all best friends with him. there’s a reason NPCs can’t use stuff like affection (that thing where your pokemon spontaneously cure themselves of status conditions and tough out fainting blows bc they love you so much) but blackquill’s team can and they’re so op, pls nerf. i didn’t decide what his partner is.
miles - runs a dragon type gym. the von karmas are essentially dragon tamers, so once he started training under them he became skilled with dragon types as well. his partner is a bisharp that he doesn’t use in battle (at first, anyway...)
there’s no elite four. i like sword and shield, sue me.
manfred von karma is the champion of the region. he’s corrupt as fuck. idk i only thought out like 20% of this au
some miscellaneous shit:
mia wants to retire after the gym challenge and pass her gym on to maya.
kristoph is also corrupt as fuck. probably doing some chairman rose bullshit behind the scenes. klavier inherits his gym because kristoph got arrested lmao
phoenix has a salazzle on his team. he got it from dahlia
i havent decided what partner pokemon the challengers have, but i like the idea of klavier having a toxtricity. after he takes over kristoph’s gym, he makes it music-themed and all his pokemon use sound-based attacks like echoed voice and perish song
franziska is probably the champion of whatever region is based on germany. her partner is an altaria
idk if or where diego appears in this au but if he does he’s got beef with phoenix because they both use fire types and he’s disproportionately mad about it gkldsngkl im not funny
gregory edgeworth specialised in steel types (which is why miles has a bisharp). he’s probably still dead but i don’t know how he dies
maybe the first thing phoenix realises after meeting miles again is “hey i thought you didn’t like dragon types what’s up with that” but idk
something phoenix DEFINITELY realised is that he’s got a type disadvantage on miles now. on their gym challenge he had the upper hand when it came to fletchling vs. pawniard because fire > steel, but dragon resists fire so every time they fight miles wipes the floor with him dskfjsdkfjk
if trucy or any of the gramaryes are in this au maybe they’re psychic type specialists? :eyes:
if athena’s here she has a pikachu. i just think it would be funny. (but seriously i like the idea of her being an electric specialist. i have not seen jack shit about aa5 or 6)
oh speaking of shit i dont know about 5 or 6: aura might be here? if she is she’s a steel type user. her partner is a skarmory which is the sister of simon’s skarmory. it slaps
thats your lot. if you have any other ideas lemme know bc i think this is a neat concept but im way too lazy to do anything with it

I think I'm in the final stretch of Nexomon Extinction. What a wild ride it's been. I'm definitely going to check out Nexomon 1 on steam when I finish Extinction.
For anyone waving it off because it's a Pokemon clone, don't. Seriously, we're all cool with Halo, Doom, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and thousands of more shooters literally being copy paste mechanics. Platformers are inherently similar as well. Collectathons especially.
Instead of calling it a clone, I'd say it's a parody, or more of a newer genre quietly cropping up in the last few years: pokemonlike. Pokemon was already a sub branch of JRPG, and pokemonlikes follow the same method of over 100 monsters to catch with set evolution paths, some form of type system, and turn based mechanics. Theres tweaks to make it different enough, just like Pokemon has tweaks to make it different from Dragon Quest.
Here's what makes Nexomon Extinction worth it for me:
The battle system is familiar but has slight tweaks. A stamina bar instead of PP, moves are hardly one shot kills, the typing system is much simpler with each monster having one type with its strengths and weaknesses, a smarter AI that swaps out on you, and overall a bigger focus on strategy than just Spam Super Effective to win (its here too mind you, but you'll run out of Stamina before you'll sweep a team)
The world is very free and open. Literally before I got the bronze tamer badge at the beginning, I had explored a big chunk of the world already. There's some places hidden behind story, but those are very few and far between. Literally a character was like "HEY DON'T GO IN THERE ITS DANGEROUS" and CoCo was like "what if we did anyway?" And I did. And it was cool as hell.
The game scales its levels with you. It's meant to be challenging, it's not a snooze fest like Pokemon XY or SwSh, but at the same time this means 2 things: 1, go anywhere at your own pace and its usually going to be the perfect level for your team, no matter how far you stray from the story. 2, as you progress, the entire world does, so you can find monsters and tamers that match your levels no matter where you go. It's so fun constantly having a challenge.
Lots of character options. Not really customization, but there's lots of designs to choose from to be your main. I stuck with the original because I like spiky hair and capes.
The catching mechanics are SIMILAR to pokemon but improved on, imo. You have your standard beat em up til they get in the red, and you can toss a Nexotrap, BUT unlike Pokemon, Nexomon's capture system gives you a percentage probability of success. You can increase success by giving certain statuses, having certain items in your inventory, having the correct Nexotrap to match its type, and feeding the monster its favorite foods. It's kind of a relief because I'm not sitting there hurling balls and hoping it clicks. I'm able to accurately gauge its success AND THEN throw the trap. The only downside is the quicktime buttons.
The art. Holy shit, especially in battle. The overworld sprites take a bit to get used to, but in game sprites look SO GOOD and move SO FLUIDLY, and attack animations are gorgeous. There's also the nice touch of having character portraits that look pretty decent. Every location looks so good, too, and so vibrant.
Music is pretty great. Right now I have the trainer battle stuck in my head. Every city and route has it's own music that is very atmospheric to listen to and adds to the experience.
It's a self aware parody that knows its parodying pokemon and jrpgs in general, and the jokes LAND man. CoCo the cat is like "yeah sure send the kids into the forest, that's SUCH a good idea" or "its almost as if the game devs ran out of budget."
I don't know if it's just me, but like 90% of the 381 monsters are just great, man. I can hardly think of any that isn't cute or cool looking in some way or another. There's some that's definitely inspired by pokemon, but honestly I don't mind. I'm not here to defend GF, I'm here for a good time since GF thinks it's okay to give us Eiscue and Inteleon and say it's good. Nope, nuhuh, there's 9 starters here and all of them are better than the gen 8 starters.
Side quests. Lots of them. Gives something fun to do. I'm also going to include neato fun dungeons that have hidden vaults in them. You don't have to do em, but I reccomend em anyway.
The story is interesting without hand holding or rail roading. It trusts the player to do what they want and come back eventually. CoCo even makes it a point to remind us with "hey, she said go north, but we could also check out the east if we want :)" quite regularly. Even then the story catches you right from the beginning with interesting characters that don't immediately start kissing your ass. In fact, you have to earn their respect in most cases, which I very much enjoy. There's lots of tense moments that go over the top in a way that I'm not used to for this type of game. Now this story is technically a sequel, but honestly I've found no problems getting through it without having played Nexomon 1, and honestly I think its neat piecing together the story.
The price. Really weird I know, but I've gotten about 24 hours out of it so far with a bunch more to come. It cost $20 on steam and $30 on switch and ps4, and yet I feel like ive gotten so much more bang for my buck. I hope the devs got paid fairly because holy shit, they deserve some credit.
The devs actively listen to feedback and fix it. They have free updates planned as well. They own their mistakes and even make fun of it. It's so refreshing. Pokemon would rather rush a game out with a problem to sell a solution later, or ignore negative feedback.
I'm literally having far more fun in a pokemonlike than I've had in 2 pokemon switch games, and honestly maybe even the 3ds? Still debating. Its almost as if i got a sneak peak at Pokemon if assholes didn't bash gen 5, because this game feels and plays how a proper pokemon game should have evolved. The sprites are so much more dynamic than the lifeless dolls with 2d texture faces, the characters actually have LIVES that are more than just POKEMON ARE NEAT POKEMON ARE GREAT I LOVE POKEMON I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH THE POWER OF POKEMON. In fact some people scream at you for breaking into their homes. There's politics at play in some cases. There's a ghost town with ghost ghosts dealing with being ghosts. Pokemon forgot somewhere along the Switch what it's like to make a game that isn't just to please stock holders and rushed to meet deadlines. Extinction has the spirit of Pokemon and more Jrpgs that lost their love and creativity of the series AND the fun behind it all. It really proves to me the only real good thing about SwSh was the battle system and DLC, because Nexomon Extinction proves that the battle system is literally the only crutch gen 8 had to stand on, and basically anyone can do it now.
God. I know it's a parody, but jesus it's such a good game. Nexomon, I hope to see more games in the future. I know it'll never be wildly successful, but by god I fell in love with monster catcher games again.
9/10 please try it and support the devs. If you liked the ds games I guarantee you'll like this game.
