Jackal doesn't remember much of it's childhood but it remembers clearly the first time it visited the local animal shelter. The way the restless pacing and whimpering pulled at its heartstrings.

The sight was similar in even the larger shelters, the ones with more workers, more toys, more wide open yards for play. It had confused it on some level, even without full time homes the animals should have been happier there.

It isn't confused anymore.

The room has a door. The door will not open for its hands, a notification lighting up in red alien script that it cannot read. But the message is clear regardless; you will not leave yet.

There are no windows. Truly that…bothers it less. It remembers bits of several hours ago, bits that tell it windows would only send it into a panic.

There is a vent. It is too high for it to reach even when it climbs onto the bed, contemplating if the wooden canopy will hold it's weight. (it was always fond of canopy beds. but now the sight sets its hairs on end. did he know? how? how, how, how)

There is no bonus to being traumatized. To living a life constantly on edge. But in this moment perhaps there is.

Because there is a noise, its hindbrain registers as the door opening and it is whipping around unconsciously, flattening against the headboard. (there are multiple ways to respond to threats, for humans and dogs both. all depending on what your nervous system decides to do. it feels more like a dog in this instant.)

(ill bite it's posture says, i am showing you my belly and im whimpering but you can see my teeth. don't touch me don't touch me im scared.)

But he just stands in the doorway (is that rude? its brain hands it. are we being rude assuming the gender binary applies to the aliens?) (because that is what it needs to be focusing on in this instant, aliens and gender. not the kidnapping. no, that is much less important now.)

He is standing and then he is moving just a step closer, enough the door can shut behind him. The action makes it crush against the headboard even harder with a high whimper. (it's mouth is dry. dogs lick their lips as an appeasement. i am small, i am small, don't hurt me.)

He doesn't come any closer, just crouches down, head tilted down at an angle. (you have to make yourself smaller, she'd said, like this. turn away from him a little, you're less scary to him that way.)

His voice is low and soft, softer than before. He'd been loud then but everything had been so loud. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Are you alright?" (it was always curious how and why it all worked. instinct apparently. it's muscles start to loosen but it stays pressed against the headboard.)

(i am watching you it's posture says i am watching you and i will bite if you scare me.)

Jackal opens it's mouth to speak, stops. Starts again. Has to wrangle all it's willpower kicking and screaming into making the sounds come out. (took until it was twenty to learn what it was, when it just can't make the words come out. made it feels like less of a liar then.) "Wh-ere. Am I."

He perks up, almost imperceptibly as it forces the words out. But still he keeps his distance. "Ah, you're on my ship dear," (dear, dear, makes it blink. deer in the headlights maybe?) ,"more specifically in your room, I wanted to give you somewhere comfortable to be-"

"Why."

A pause, a beat. "Why I wanted to set you up somewhere comfortable? I feel as if I should be concerned you're asking-"

It cuts him off again, pointing at its chest for emphasis now. "No. Why."

Another pause, he seems to be thinking then. (thinking of a lie thinking up lies unsafe unsafe scared) "The details of the matter are…complicated. But for you in particular?" A shrug, a glance away from it that seems almost bashful but surely that can't be correct. "I found you charming. Cute."

cute?

The words cut through all the tension it still held, making it slump like a marionette with no more strings. He makes an alarmed sort of sound until it starts giggling. "C. Cute?"

Jackal giggles harder, curling in on itself and covering its face with its hands. The fear is gone, replaced with a giddy sort of glee. It wants to flop back on the bed and roll around like it did when it was younger, when it had too many feelings in it's body. "I. Cute? 'M cute?" (cute! aliens are real! and one of them thinks it's cute! two delights! fuck!!)

Peeking through it's fingers, Jackal can see the stranger smiling, chin propped on one hand. "You act like you've never been complimented before. Oh don't tell me if you have, I want to pretend otherwise."

If it giggles much more it might pass away. So it does it's best to calm it's breathing, sure its face is now flushed. But the stranger is still smiling at them, soft and fond and…it should be more frightened. Like before. But it's harder to be now.

Slowly, and carefully, it slips off the bed. Posture still stiff in some ways but considerably looser as it approaches. (i will still bite, it says, i shall and will.) And it mimics his crouch, a few paces away.

It holds out it's hand, tiny in comparison, but he's gentle when he takes it in his. Holding it like a piece of the most delicate glasswork. "J. Mm. Jackal."

"Zinyak." He lifts it's hand to his mouth, making it squeak as he places a dainty kiss to the back of it. "It's a delight to meet you darling."

Fuck you! Have some art!

So, this is Pomme, its pronounce pom-e, or pom, or pom-eh whatever doesnt matter but i pronounce is Pom-e. They are an alien and they are one of my experiment/lab ocs. Their sibling is Allison.

Pomme and Allison had their neural pathways hardwired into a supercomputer/cyberspace to test their brains and bodies to the extremes and to see what an intelligent beings cpabilities in a limitless space could do.

Due to both the tests done of them and the abrupt disconnection during the breakout, Pomme lost most of their sight and Allison became physically weaker and paralyzed from the waist down. Both were young at the time of being accquired for experimentation but Allison was only about 8 years old which accounts for their more damaged state.

Their species has the ability to hover/float, Pomme retains this ability almost entirely un-altered, however due to the damage sustained from disconnection to the hardware on Allison's spinal column and nervous system, Allison has almost entirely lost this ability and uses a wheelchair or other mobility aids a majority of the time. On particularly good days Allison can float but it is strenuous and Pomme helps them with pysical therapy so thst Allison does not lose the ability to float entirely.

Their species does not have spoken language, with most communications being done through written language, body/sign language, and touch telepathy. With Pomme's almost complete breakdown of sight, They can only communicate through touch telepathy and neural connection to cyberspace networks they can speak through. Their disabilities combined with the loneliness that comes from being the only two of your species on an unfamiliar planet, means that they are entirely inseperable unless by their own choice.

if any of you wanted to know ivo a little better, here's your chance.

hello, my dear. i believe we never met... i'm the spellweaver here at the Academia, and a substitute librarian for the time being, until they find someone else for the job. so... in which capacity i may be of help?

NAME: that would depend on who you see in front of you right now, me or the... oh. then just ivo is more than enough, there is no need to stand on ceremony ~

NICKNAME: with such a short name as mine, no one really called me anything else. if you don’t count common words of endearment, but i don't think that counts.

GENDER: ...hmm. that made me think. i’m used to think of myself as a man, but when i imagine being offered a different opinion, it doesn’t feel alien or make me uncomfortable either... there's always something yet to be discovered about ourselves, isn't it.

STAR SIGN: Pisces, but you might not find it very fitting anymore, now that i... oh, apologies, i got a little distracted for a moment.

HEIGHT: i never bothered measuring my own height exactly. probably a little over 180 barefoot, a little under 190 on heels... why would that be important? i assure you, 171-cm-on-heels worth of the Grand Sage in a bad mood can be much scarier. ah, you want me to get you this book from the upper shelf? in that case, my dear, how about i teach you a little beckoning spell if you have the time? it will come in handy when i’m not around to help. ~

ORIENTATION: there was a time when i preferred one gender over all others. now i prefer not to prefer either. that is just for the best for everyone. i’m truly sorry if you asked out of... personal interest, my dear.

NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: i’m afraid even i don't have the answer. i was here for as long as i can recall, but my childhood memories are rather... hazy. it was definitely warmer than here though, that much i remember.

FAVORITE FRUIT: peach, the juicier the better. even imagining it in my hand, its fuzzy skin is warm from the sun, juice streaming down my fingers and palm and staining my sleeve... ah, it almost makes me feel the taste in my mouth.

FAVORITE SEASON: summer. cold and damp weather can be very hard to endure, it takes a huge toll on my mind and body alike.

FAVORITE FLOWER: a whole field of forget-me-nots. and the apple tree blossoming in the warmest month of spring. it’s not something you could pluck for your amusement and put in a vase... you can only appreciate it and step away, carrying this moment of peace in your heart.

FAVORITE SCENT: oh, you know these thick, spicy scents that are an essential part of every tiny store that sells all kinds of fake occult knick-knacks impressionable young humans are so obsessed with? yeah, this scent. it’s just... so nostalgic for some reason.

COFFEE, TEA, or HOT CHOCOLATE: i much prefer pomegranate wine, my dear, but alas, now that i’m not allowed to drink alcohol anymore... it would be linden and melissa herbal tea. aside from its mild taste and soothing qualities, another great thing about it is that it never becomes tart even if you forget about it for a long time... however, i would also never say no to a cup of hot chocolate in a pleasant company ~

AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: more than nine, preferably. sadly, i’m rarely given that luxury. everyone always needs something here, and you can't really say no when it's the Grand Sage who's asking, now can you?

DOGS or CATS: neither, my... guest doesn’t like animals. or, rather, they do not like to be in my presence anymore. why are you looking at me like that? i thought professor Ember warned you about... i see. apologies for confusing you then. at any rate, if i have to choose, then cats. a cat sleeps for twenty hours a day and wouldn't give me any trouble, while having a dog demands too much physical activity for my taste.

DREAM TRIP: anywhere warm, my dear. (...where i really want to go is to go back in time and make a different decision, one i won’t be regretting for the rest of my days, but...) oh, i look sad? these cold stones just aren’t good for my morale. winter this year was awfully long.

NUMBER OF BLANKETS: indefinite. nothing better for the night than making a warm cozy nest out of thick fluffy blankets. the flip side is that the warmer and cozier your blanket nest is, the more heartbreaking it is to leave it in the morning.

RANDOM FACT: there’s a belief among academia students that if you jump across the hall all the way to the statue of the First Sage on just one leg the day before the exam, and throw the note with your request, and the note stays in the statue’s hands, you will get an A+ without trying. no, no, not lazy, most of them prepare for exams anyway... it’s more of a tradition now. sometimes they write completely unrelated things. poems, love confessions to each other... someone even begged the statue to make professor Ember have a crush on them, poor soul. how do i know all that? whose responsibility it is to retrieve all these notes from the statue, you think?

　　— cons in bunny suits have been on my mind 👁 if youre not sure as to what it is ,, its my au where the decepticons have a cafe called ‘cafe con’ and the autobots have ‘bot bakery’ and their rivalry is between each other n who has a better establishment n stuff ,, tho the cons wear bunny suits and the bots are catboy maids 😏

• you were new in town ,, having just moved to the city after graduating to look for jobs and stuff yknow

• whilst walking down the street you saw a cafe ,, labeled in a soft font with light purple coloring read “cafe con” ,, whilst it was an odd name you didnt bother to question it as you walked inside

• the interior was nice ,, a black - white - purple - and a dash of light green for a color scheme ,, it almost reminded you of an 80s diner with the checkered floor ,, the juke box ,, and the booths and bar stools

• you had waited to be seated ,, taking in more of your surroundings as you saw that the people running this cafe happened to be the new mecha aliens from cybertron that everyone seemed to know

• well ,, almost everyone ,, since you never saw them up close and this was your first time seeing them ,, as you’d always thought they were some silly government experiment

• however you weren’t expecting to see them ,, running a cafe in what looked like those bunny suits that you’d see women wear ,, not a onesie but those ones you’d see on a inappropriate magazine that your dad would stash away

• it was surprising to say the least ,, though you suppose they had to make money someway or another ,, and money was money

• it didnt take too long to be seated ,, your waiter being a blue mech with sort of wings behind him ,, he was quite taller than you ,, he seemed about 10 or 11 ft

• he introduced himself as thundercracker and gave you a menu ,, letting you scan it over for a drink for starters ,, which you looked at the variety

• the names were foreign and strange ,, yet intriguing as the picture beside them looked quite delicious to drink ,, though you settled for “evening novastorm” which was a fruit juice mix with a bit of honey and some sugar

• he left with that ,, and when he turned around you noticed the little fluffy cotton tail attached to his bottom ,, eyes quickly diverting away and staring elsewhere to not seem rude for staring at an alien’s ass

• when he returned and handed your drink ,, you didnt waste any time and took your first sip ,, flavors flowing along your tastebuds ,, it was sweet and lovely ,, the taste of pomegranate with a bit of strawberry present within the drink

• you told your waiter it tasted lovely ,, to which he smiled softly at and asked what you’d like to eat for the evening

• you took another quick scan ,, giving a shrug of your shoulder and said you’d like to try the ‘stardust cheesecake’ and he had left once again

• the experience so far was lovely ,, people around you chattering and having their own meal choices ,, all the food around looked appetizing

• a plate had been set in front of you ,, thundercracker leaving afterwards to sit the other people down

• the cheesecake was white ,, almost pearly white ,, with purple sugar powder and a bit of blueberry drizzle ,, with two blueberries up by the top crust

• it smelled divine ,, cutting yourself a slice and taking the first bite ,, blueberry and another flavor you had no name for had overflowed your senses ,, it tasted almost herby yet had a sweet tang to it

• when you had finished your small snack and did a bit of a job application applying ,, you asked for a check and got ready to leave

• the one who worked the cash register was also blue ,, with a bright red sunglasses almost look over where his eyes would be ,, his name tag read ‘soundwave’

• you paid and left a nice review ,, placing a large tip in the jar and leaving feeling quite joyful about your recent experience ,, making a mental note to return another time

• across the street was another sort of establishment ,, in big and bold blue letters had read “bot bakery” ,, wanting to visit there one day

V. favourite movies: Small Soldiers (very old. Definitely dated. It has been a favorite of mine since I was little lmao), Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive, Train to Busan, Warm Bodies, Zombieland, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, REC, Alien VS Predator (Literally just saw it last year and it was SO GOOD), The Purge, Rob Zombie's House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects. And now for the classics: Child's Play, Bride of Chucky, Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, Freddy vs Jason, Blair Witch Project, The Fly, every single Hellraiser ever made...save for the remake. Anddd I'll cut it there or this'll turn into a gigantic page of classics I love xD

I've been posting excerpts from waaaaaay far forward in the book, so here's a bit at the very beginning. :)

From Chapter 1 - "Transmission" (read it on wattpad)

“I got a call from your school again,” his mother sighed in weariness of this pattern.

Even if he could have ninja’d his way into the house unseen, the mud from his boots, and the dead leaves scattered around him would betray him.

“Uh… Hey, mom,” he pasted on a fake smile, “Are you cooking chicken? ‘Cause that smells really good.”

“It’s mac and cheese. Nice try, Indy,” she folded her arms, “Was it the Carlyle brothers again?”

“Tweedle Dumb, Tweedle Dumber, and Tweedle Dumbest,” he spat with a history of dealing with those idiot apes, “They called me a baby and locked me in the kindergarten room today. The janitor had to let me out,” he grumbled, “Again.”

“Will, you know fighting isn’t the way to solve your problems with these idiots–boys,” she corrected herself. The advice she gave her son was sound on paper, but if she had an opportunity to enact revenge of her own against their mother - that beast of a woman - she’d do the same thing.

“I know! I didn’t fight! They started it. Those Neanderthals have nothing better to do than ruin my life just because I’m the shortest one in my class. A moron would have seen those balloons,” he dropped his backpack onto the couch and hopped over the back to land on the cushion next to it, “It’s not my fault they share a brain cell and keep losing it.”

She picked up his backpack, hiding a chuckle at that last part, “Go upstairs and wash up. You’re filthy.”

Will groaned and trudged upstairs.

“Will.”

He stopped halfway up the stairs.

“How’d you get them back?”

“Purple paint filled water balloons on their chairs.”

The giggle escaped, “Inventive. I would have gone with pomegranate juice, and some added red dye food coloring.”

He blinked, “Mom?”

“The stains are impossible to get out,” she waved him away, “You didn’t fight. Good alternative. But this has to stop.”

“Yes, mom.” He was a little confused. Was she proud of him or mad?

“And you’re grounded for Saturday.”

“Mom,” he whined. That answered that question. She was both.

“Don’t ‘Mom’ me. Making it only Saturday is your reward for not throwing punches. Now go on. Git.”

She smiled as he trudged up the stairs grumbling, ‘It’s not fair’ and went back into the kitchen. Her son’s imaginative method of combating his arch nemesis gave her an idea. If she could somehow slip in a red sock into Mrs. Carlyle’s whites at the laundromat…. They had their own washer and dryer, but she did need to get more detergent, and the laundromat sold bottles on the cheap. She made plans for a shopping trip.

The picture winked out.

“Dad,” Will whined, “I was watching that.”

“Watch something else. What about that cartoon about monsters who only say their name? You like that,” his father flicked the paper, folded it, and rested it next to his own plate.

“That’s on after school. You worked on the Nova Star. Space is your thing.”

“Not anymore.”

“But it’s cool! It’s a new era in space flight! He said it! We can leave the Earth and see what’s out there in our own ship! We can explore the galaxy and be like Indiana Jones, but in space! I wanna fly it!”

“You’d never pass the vision test, and you’re too scatterbrained,” his dad stated.

Molly smacked him on the arm in a 'be nice' move. Their son had ADHD. He'd only started on medication a few months ago, but still struggled. They were in the process of finding the right one for him along with therapy. Her husband needed to learn some tact.

Will frowned, “But...but my eyes can be fixed, and I can try harder to focus! I’ll do better, I promise!” He kept his dream alive, “I’ll be the Nova Star’s pilot, and be...and be... Captain William Indiana Jones Kade!”

“That’s a long name to put on a flight suit tag,” his mother joked with a lighthearted smile.

“Then, I’ll shorten it to...Captain Indy!”

“Indiana fought Nazis. Not aliens,” his father countered.

“Those face-melting angels were probably aliens. They went after the Nazis all like, ‘Rawr!’ And they were all like, ‘wuuaaah! Blaarrrgg!’” Will dragged his fingers down his face, making guttural sounds and pretending to melt into a puddle of goo.

“No face melting on the couch,” Molly chided gently, “It’s hard to get out of the fabric.”

Will stopped the dramatics of a grim death-by-ancient-relic, and went back to eating. “I can fly the ship. I know I can.”

She chuckled, “You said that with the same confidence when you announced you were going to flip that jug of milk yesterday.”

“And it worked! It landed perfectly on its butt,” he grinned.

“Then it exploded,” she reminded him. She had said in a tired sigh, ‘please don’t,’ though let him do it to teach him a lesson about consequences to his actions. It took him all afternoon to clean up the kitchen. But he had flipped it in a full double rotation. The mother in her was angry. The nerd in her was impressed.

Will bounced quickly back to the more important topic, “Can we watch it on New Years Eve, dad? Please?”

A Different Kind of Jam Legacy Challenge for TS3

Honestly I just wanted to make another challenge that involved colors and had a theme but then it changed into something completely different so I thought I share.

The Jam Legacy is a 9 generation legacy challenge based on fruits you can put into jams/jellies and has a specific color palette if you choose to go with it. Each generation is a quirky bunch and meant for some weird gameplay. So if you enjoy weird gameplay, nice fall colors, and maybe 9 generations of fun, this might be your jam.

Joined a band, check. Streak in public, check. Fought a shark, check. Got eaten by a cowplant and lived, check. Turn everybody into a zombie, thought about it. Go to the future and create a dystopian future, oh there’s an idea. Yeah you’re not settling for a while. Not until you find your greatest adventure.

Directions:

Know 10 skills but never master any of them

Spend your life finding the greatest adventure that no one else in your family has done before.

Have at least 10 jobs under your belt (but you don’t have to reach the highest level in any of them)

Do the most dangerous inappropriate stuff at least 3 times a week.

It’s the battle cry of your performance and the applause of the crowds that keep you going. It’s just that sometimes you wish you had someone to keep you going when things get rough as well. At least you have your bandmates, right?
